One thing the unemployeed can do, is take some of these feely meely money wasting parks and plant a garden, look at all the wasted crap parks in citys or government land, that is doing nothing. but costing billions to maintain. What if unemployment pay ended? Would people learn to make money by starting a business? Would they use their time and effort to grow this country? There is a lot of jobs out there. It may not be playing on a computor or in the 8-5 work day, but there are plenty of jobs. As a resident of the crapfest state of WV, I can say that this new guy will be a “yes Man”. In November, Manchin will be elected in a lanslide because the braindead people of this state will always vote for a Democrap. If it looks like a republican will win the unions will register the graveyards like they always have. This state is a cesspool of corruption and ignorance.

People that want more without a way to pay for it are as greedy as the people they complain about. Sure you may need money even for food but will you take it from the mouth of another? As a person who definately needed an unemployment check several times, I feel for the people who need the money. On the other hand, I can understand the need for a cut-off. I saw one woman laid off who bragged about getting a job and then getting fired so she could stay at home and draw the pay. People like her eat up much of that money. Luckily for my company, she was refused unemployment because of theft so she didn’t get her extended vacation from us.

Folks, Let me be very clear so no one confuses the point.
We Have little to no manufacturing jobs left. We have no new job growth now for well over 20 months, we have little to no one traveling here and spending money.
We have no growth other than Government and Unions.
Where do they get money from?

From people who run non Government business’s and the people who work for them. Gibson Guitars is about to fall, I know to many of you that means nothing at all. But it really does mean something, its an old American Icon of a business as well as an Icon Guitar known world wide for what they are, the BEST.
Now whats all that mean to you, its simple if a company such as Gibson falls not only will a few thousand people be out of work, but these guitars will be made in a differant country say China, where cost are cheep for labor there are NO UNIONS.
Thus Americans who buy a new Gibson will be paying Chinese workers to make them, the quality will drop as with most Chinese products. The Icon will be dead.

This is on a micro scale but the facts are that as each American Business falls, more will be “UN Employed,” as the numbers keep going up who’s going to be paying for these people who collect UEI?

Sure looks like maddness to me but hey I just run a small business and have done so for 40 years, and yes there are ups and downs, even the 1987 crash was felt for about 20 months, but whats going on now will keep going on for decades until the end comes and its not going to be a good end. Oh and National UE #’s are based on a curb, that means that the highest and lowest numbers are thrown out, then based on the middle numbers they derive a number. So in fact the real UE #’s are more in line with 22% as of today. Underemployed is at about 30%.

This is at best, a really bad band aid fix, one with very little sticking power, think of it as you have an artery thats bleeding out and someone wraps it with an old dirty shirt.

Where is the money coming from to extend unemployment compensation to the unemployed? This disturbs me, greatly. How long will the Government continue to borrow money to pay for unemployment? My own son was laid off from General Manager position and even he is wondering how the Government can continue to fork over money they don’t have. If unemployment stops, the unemployed will be forced to take flipping burgers. Is that so bad? It would be a job that the illegals could not have. Perhaps this is Obama’s plan to keep unemployment going so his illegals can have the jobs.?? Is the idea that the government’s only purpose is to create handouts for the unemployed? Voting out the Republicans might get you what you want in the short term, more of other people’s money in your pocket. That in itself is tolerable during times of economic stress but as a long term strategy is will bring down the golden goose. Entitlement mentality is fine for those who assume that the nation can afford it. The problem is way more basic than that.

Hyperinflation is a very real possibility given that this government has spent more than all the governments back to George Washington. You might feel angry with the Republicans for blocking unemployment until it was properly funded, please remind yourself Regina, the Republicans want the money properly provided for in the budget not just added to the national debt. By all means go ahead and ask the Democrats to give you “your” money. The fact you pay taxes and probably advance the idea that other should pay even more taxes is fine. There are consequences to all this, here are two.

If you tax the richer members of society you tax poor people’s jobs, it really is that simple. No job created by the government is a real job; the wealth absorbed is often at the cost of two or more jobs elsewhere in the economy. Taxing the richer folks will get you revenue but it will cost the nation, or the state, other jobs that would be paying taxes in the economy. There is always a knock on effect of taxation, and it is never good. Left wing economists still advance the idea that government jobs are real though this is somewhat of a stretch at its best. One has to wonder why government employees are taxed at all? The whole bogus process of levying tax on state or fed employees is a ruse to create the illusion that they pay tax, they don’t. It would be more honest to pay them the tax free and save the costs of accounting and bookkeeping.

The other point is about hyperinflation, while you might get your benefits this year, you may find the dollar goes out of business with the highly inflationary policies of the government, as is likely the case for this government. Most of you who read this have never experienced hyperinflation. I have. My grandfather lived in Zimbabwe, when he passed on he left my mother his estate. At the time the money was embargoed from being repatriated or used outside Zimbabwe. Later the President Mr. Mugabe conducted a highly inflationary policy of money creation out of nothing (not unlike this, and previous governments, here in the US) the result was runaway inflation. I inherited from my mother the blocked accounts at about $50,000.00 US, after the hyperinflation the bank couldn’t afford to send me the quarterly statements as the money vanished to $0.00 dollars this took about 3 years. You can ignore this or not. Be that as it may, just be aware that unfunded runaway debt may be a deliberate policy to avoid payment of debts, if that is the case, you will find your nation has no money. Hyperinflation can happen I know from personal experience I hope you never have to experience it.

I am glad I live in the US and not Zimbabwe, beautiful though that country is, I just hope that all the debts and entitlements that you seek don’t bury us all in the consequences of a policy objective to create a welfare state beyond the nation’s pocket book.

The unemployment benefits extension is needed by many people who lost their job due to Wall Street and other high roller’s unwise/greedy decisions.

Thank God, West Virginia won’t be able to truly ‘replace’ Byrd. One Byrd in a lifetime is more than enough. Since one of Herr Obummer’s goals is to put an end to coal mining, I’d think the good people of WV would have multiple alternative plans to compensate for the concentrated lack of leadership in Washington (and WV’s state capital?).
Assuming that jobs (AND coal mining) are important to WV, one would think that Herr Obummer would be seen as ANYTHING but a ‘savior.’ If a prez had plans to put me out of a job (for my own good, of course), that prez would NEVER get my vote or my support.
