Let Us Pray!

Move along. No praying here. It’s against the law.

That’s the message a United States Supreme Court officer gave to a group from an Arizona Christian school as they stopped for a moment of prayer outside the Supreme Court building May 5.

While taking an educational tour of the Supreme Court, Wickenburg Christian Academy teacher Maureen Rigo, her students and a few adults stood off to the side of the Oval Plaza steps, bowed their heads and quietly prayed. Even though they weren’t obstructing traffic, were not demonstrating and were not praying in loud voice so as to draw attention to themselves, a police officer told the group they were not allowed to pray there because it was against the law.

Last week the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) sent a letter to U.S. Supreme Court officials urging them to stop their police officers from prohibiting people from quietly praying outside the court building. The letter threatens legal action against Supreme Court police if Rigo is not allowed to return and pray there without fear of punishment.

ADF notes a U.S. code that makes it “unlawful to parade, stand, or move in processions or assemblages in the Supreme Court Building or grounds, or to display in the Building and grounds a flag, banner, or device designed or adapted to bring into public notice a party, organization or movement.”

In its letter the ADF says that code did not apply to Rigo and her group. Small groups are not hindered from stopping and carrying on conversations in the area Rigo and her group were in, so the officer was obviously singling out Rigo and her group simply because they were praying, according to the ADF.

This is a clear violation of the 1st Amendment rights of Rigo and her group. In addition to violating their rights to freedom of speech and freedom to exercise their religion, it violates their equal protection and due process rights as well.

Hopefully the Supreme Court police will correct this error quickly. Otherwise the Supreme Court will one day be deciding whether a small group can pray outside while inside it opens its session with a crier saying, “God save the United States and this honorable court.”

This country was founded on religious freedom. But, remember the socialists strive for 2 major things— destroy the family and force their hatred for religion down our throats. It is deplorable that anyone is allowed to trash our flag and how dare anyone- especially the police or the courts try to stop us from praying wherever we wish. But, DO NOT say anything that will upset the Muslim religions. Before we know it, this country will be over-run with Islamic terrorists. They have schools here, in Tx. this year a group of Muslim students were demanding that the word GOD be removed from the college diplomas. EVERYONE except the American people have rights in this country and this is exactly what Oblivious and his cronies have in store for us. Our brilliant decision makers in Congress have shown an amazing ability to make stupid decisions over the years such as; no child left behind, which is now showing how many more illerates, we have wrecking havoc on our society. How about parents not being able to spank, holler, or discipline their children, like we were once disciplined? On the other hand, if a Catholic school class, with nuns chaperoning them, were to pray the Holy Rosary or the Divine Mercy Chaplet quietly and off to one side, the entire class would have likely been arrested.

This kind of news fuels anger but absolutely nothing is actually done about it by Christians. This group of students had every right to gather in a secluded area, away from main traffic, and lift quiet prayer for our leaders and the high court of this great country. The Muslims had their day in Washington DC and God knows where else. That was all right? I guess so. Christians nor the Federal Government outwardly complained about this act. Where were Muslims during World War II? They were aligned with Adolf Hitler. The Muslim grand mufti himself met with Adolf Hitler, reviewed the troops and accepted support from the Nazi’s in killing Jews.

Finally, Mr. Obama, where were Muslims on Sept. 11th, 2001? If they weren’t flying planes into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon or a field in Pennsylvania killing nearly 3,000 people on our own soil, they were rejoicing in the Middle East. No one can dispute the pictures shown from all parts of the Muslim world celebrating on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and other cable news networks that day. Strangely, the very “moderate” Muslims who’s asses you bent over backwards to kiss in Cairo, Egypt on June 4th were stone cold silent post 9-11. To many Ame ricans, their silence has meant approval for the acts of that day.

And THAT, Mr. Obama, is the “rich he ritage” Muslims have here in America.

Oh, I’m sorry, I forgot to mention the Barbary Pirates. They were Muslim.

And now we can add November 5, 2009 – the slaughter of American soldiers at Fort Hood by a Muslim major who is a doctor and a psychiatrist who was supposed to be counseling soldiers returning from battle in Iraq and Afghanistan.

That, Mr. Obama is the “Muslim heritage” in America.

Many church attendees aren’t even Christians and have not surrendered to God and lead Godless lives. The believers will inherit the Kingdom of Heaven because they trust in Jesus Christ the Son of God though they are yet sinners… those that deny Christ will go to eternal hell.

If there is such a law (there is), then it means that Congress has broken the law (they have). That is why we have the court system, to decide what is or is not a violation or ones rights under it. If your rights are offensive to others, you can not exercise that right in place that can offend those that are offended. You don’t have any absolute rights. Chap 40 verse 22, he writes: “It is He that sitteth upon the circle of the earth” you can’t sit on the circle of the earth if it’s not round. Also there was no big bang or little bang just the Holy Word of God Gen 1:2&3: the Spirit moved and God spoke. The universe came into existence at Gods command and will. Finally in Colossians 1:16-17, speaking of Christ (who is God in human form John 1:1 and Gods word,also John 1:1) Paul writes in verse 16,”for by Him(Jesus)were all things created, that are in heaven,and in earth…all things were created by Him and for Him (Christ)…and by Him all things consist.” See also John 1:3. As long as one realizes that all people are God’s people and that Chrtistian’s just represent one group of these people. The thing is that prayer works. When one is humbled to the point of being on their knees it almost surely works.. regardless of what religion you are or even what god you think you’re praying to. It’s the humbling that allows the process. The tragedy is that when let’s say a muslim prays to Allah and his prayers are without a doubt answered they may then think that only his way of prayer is the way. Same with a Christian that may have had this experience. Prayer works.. specially when the mind and especially the heart is clear on it’s intent. I learned a Buddhist prayer that’s just about perfect.. “May all beings be happy”.. or “Thy will be done” I have full trust in either of those prayers.

If there is a sign that says no parades or demonstrations in that specific area,then that covers it. The group was demonstrating by praying in an organised and audible way. The law would apply equally to a man on a soapbox or antiwar protesters or buddhists chanting for
global peace. Praying is no different if done in public as a group.

The funny thing is that people can pray silently and individually where ever they please…do they think that God listens more intently when done in a group and as a visible demonstration in public? No,of course not…they are intentionally trying to make a public show of their prayer and essentially a political act,since they are in front of the Supreme Court…hence the ruling that they are demonstrating in an area where it is not allowed. I wonder if Bob Livingston remembers that Bush forced protesters of his policies to be contained
in specific areas often a mile or more away from his appearances and out of view of the TV cameras? Was that constitutional?

In case you haven’t read it lately, the Bill of Rights clearly states in Article 1 that “Congress will make no law respecting an establishment of religion OR prohibiting the free exercise therof: or abridging the freedom of speech.” Of course, it also sounds like you are very intolerant by stating your desire to shoot any bible thumper that trespasses on your property. It’s sad to see someone who apparently represents the liberals espousing their ridiculous ‘tolerance’ mindset when in reality all that REALLY means is “As long as you agree with me”. Try not to be so hateful will you? I believe they are all unionized there and the Progressive Democrats are voting this week or next to make it the law of the land that all police and firemen and EMT are unionized everywhere. If the Socialists pass that you won’t believe how high your property taxes will go up.
