Pataki Condemns Obama's Recess Healthcare Appointment

Taking advantage of a congressional break, President Obama appointed Donald Berwick as the head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services last week, avoiding a likely confirmation battle as Berwick’s liberal views on healthcare policy clash with those held by many Republicans.
In fact, the latest criticism has come from former New York Governor George Pataki, a prominent Republican and chairman of Revere America, an organization that works to promote policies rooted in the traditions of freedom and free markets.
Pataki stressed that Berwick is known for his admiration of the UK’s government-run healthcare system and is in favor of the rationing of care.
"With [this] decision, President Obama is trying to avoid public disclosure of the views of the man who will have enormous unprecedented power over the healthcare of every single American," the former governor stated.
"The American people deserve far better, and they certainly deserve a full public discussion of Berwick’s radical views," he added.
Revere American is currently conducting a nationwide campaign to collect 1 million signatures to repeal and replace the healthcare reform bill signed by Obama earlier this year.
