Obama Responds Harshly To Boehner's Critique Of Proposed Financial Reform Bill

Obama responds harshly to Boehner's critique of proposed financial reform bill An incensed President Obama attacked House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) last week, blasting the Republican lawmaker for his recent critique of the financial reform bill currently being debated in Congress.

In a recent interview with the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Boehner compared the pending financial regulatory bill to "killing an ant with a nuclear weapon."

While speaking at a town hall meeting in Racine, Wis., Obama called out the Ohio Representative for trivializing the impact that the recent financial crisis has had on the country.

"That’s what he said—he compared the financial crisis to an ant," Obama said. "This is the same financial crisis that led to the loss of nearly 8 million jobs."

"He can’t be that out of touch with the struggles facing the American people, he should come here to Racine and ask people if they think the financial crisis was an ant," he added.

Boehner later said his metaphor was not an assessment of the financial crisis, but rather a critique of the proposed legislation, which he believes will hand over too much control to the Federal government.

    John B opened himself up for the attack with such a reference.

    If you think as I do, that the minority leader sees “no need” for any financial reform. The present system working well for him and the special interest he represent, while entertaining no plans of being an active member of any reform.

    What’s wrong with lighting a fire under him to get him to move? if you don’t agree with him? ~ John B. did say these things. ~ It up to you to agree with him or not.

    Most of us think reform is desirable. I thought we had all agreed at some point that “Too Big To Fail” needed to be address? So why prevent it from happening?

    If you think all these bail-outs are only an “ANT” in size and little needs to be changed, you’re in the right party with the GOP.

I misspent 4 trillion dollars, ~ I don’t open mail that has bad news, I hand out credit cards to the rest of the family and don’t Lord over my affairs well. In no time, I’m in debt up to my ears and I’m work for 5 years to 10 years in an attempt to recover. After my death, it does not end! the balance still due!

        This has been gone over countless times, these no need to rehash it again and again.

        This willingness to offer Clintons fruitful years to Reagan credit yet denying these administration 6 months much less 7 years is completely absurd in the purest sense of the any understanding.

        We are not carrying on a conservation with rational people. Just squawking talking birds, that repeat things they hear often.

      I’m trying to get Obama and the Democratic majority to get back 7 million much-needed jobs from illegals by strongly enforcing our immigration laws that actually cost the government little to nothing compared what it saves due to massive unemployment, their home loss and the trickle down effects, as well as Obama’s admission in January that “illegals go to the ER and we pay for it”!

      He has been in office long enough to have already kept the promise to “hold illegals employers accountable”, but no, on top of massive unemployment and illegals going to the ER and we pay for it, he postponed 4 times, measures to make sure that some of the stimulus jobs we to legal workers, he finally mandated it after he ran out of excuses! On top of massive unemployment and the struggles our unemployed, families and states are going through, he and the majority of Democrats want to give 11-20 Million illegals amnesty, that is completely irresponsible!! We do not have enough jobs for the legal immigrants and citizens here, what are they and others suppose to do for work and supporting their family, they can’t, so they remain a burden on taxpayers and will get even worse when they bring their relatives here under chain migration laws. There will nothing left by then and you will be lucky to just survive like those in third world countries!

        You mean so many of those underpaid jobs they created that leaves their workers eligible for earned income credits and other welfare programs thus subsidizing many peoples wages and benefits for these companies and if they paid a living wages as they once did then there was no need for earned income credits etc. All this in addition to the direct welfare they get which is referred to as corporate welfare. Many big corporations today are very evil they lobbied for this type of welfare programs so they could cut their wage and benefit packages and it is people like you that defend them thus perpetuating this abuse of theirs.

The corperations created the laws that give them handouts so they become rich and there workers don’t even make enough money to be above the poverty line. Do you have a business and get all your money from the government? With all these millions of people working in this country if they have a job they are underpaid, wow! The only ones with money are the owners of business. I work for a business and I earn more than minimum wage, is there anyone else? I guess not right smilee. I know at one time to start a business and become rich was an american dream, now it is evil and we need the government to send us a check every week. That is honest and honorable to be dependant on the government. I am wrong, I need to quit my job and help this country to greatness!         I made in wages triple the minimum wage, not all are underpaid but more and more now are. 50% of workers now pay no income tax and that is because they do not make enough so they have to and many of them get a large earned income credit because of low wages and some can get other welfare benefits such as child care, food stamps, medical etc. You can make much more than minimum wage and still qualify for these benefits and I do check out what I say and know what I’m talking about

        The ceiling is higher than the floor, minimum wage is the floor and you can make a lot more than minimum wage and still get earned income credit and other welfare because of low wages, there is no demand on employers to pay less than living wage but they lobbied congress for these welfare programs so they could then pay less than living wage and let the government pay for much of peoples living costs so they no longer go by market pressures as these welfare programs have eliminated that need, market pressures rarely had an effect on wages, union members make much more even today and very few are eligible for welfare because of it, In the absence of living wages or government subsidized wages as we now have we would be a third world country if it was left up to what you call balanced and free markets our history alone has proven that will not work, as an unregulated capital free market will never police itself and will always have negative results for the economy and the nation as a whole

        you ever notice that all those evil corporations that are leaving this country are all unionised and odummer is supporting those same unions? Take General Motors. Unionized and moving more and more out of this country cause they can’t compete. Took tax money as a bailout and odummer also gave the unions a break on the taxes on their high money insurance plans, but not any non union companies that have worked with their employees to stay here. Even the big world wide companies that the employees wouldn’t be caught dead with a union cause the company pays them well, gives them good benefits, and good conditions will be caught up having to pay taxes on their Cadilac policies. funny they would call them that when a Caddy is a General Motors product. Not only do we tax payers have to bail them out, we have to pay more taxes on our benefits than they do!! What a crock!!!

        Republicans under Reagan allowed jobs to be shipped overseas and more corporations to hide their money off shore. Clinton allowed the Republicans to push NAFTA through which hemmoraged more jobs. Immigration increased under Clinton and Bush until 2008. When Obama was elected imigration was way down and it’s fallen since. Border security increased under Obama and in His bill Employers will have to do a better job of policing new hires or face fines. So the ball is rolling.

BHO did inherit what was a normal cyclical economic downturn. But BHO turned it into a disaster. Bush’s largest deficit came after the democraps won back Congress. But BHO nearly quadrupled that deficit!! Based on what I heard the Great One say, I think we should replace the ‘Blame Game’ with a ‘Memory Game’. Remember back in the early 1980s, who gave us the worst recession since the Great Depression? (Jimmy Carter!!) And remember who got us out of that recession? (Ronald Reagan!!) With the exception of 3 RINOs in the Senate, all Republicans opposed that wasteful $787 billion failed stimulus/porkulus bill 16 months ago which only made the economy worse. As for the Democraps’ and GOP’s theories, YES, “….we know where they led us”!! BHO and his democraps are emulating Jimmy Carter (and getting even worse!!). We know Carter’s policies gave us double digit unemployment, inflation and interest rates. But Reaganomics, when fully implemented, got us out of Carter’s economic pit!!     Boehner: I wrote and told him to get a lot more aggressive… “in-you-face”… looks like he’s doing it and it’s working. Get a narcissist mad and he’ll make mistakes… and this calls the country’s attention to his weaknesses and that’s good. Boehner needs to continue harassing BO who needs to be exposed for the blaggard that he really is. The sensible thing for BO to do is to hold his tongue, but we are beyond that now. The mills here went out of business because they priced themselves out of the market and they were not productive enough. they were ancient carcases that produced a good product, but not at the pace needed to remain competative. We have a new mill here that is run by the Japs and it IS competative and the wages are at a level that the employees can live a good life yet the company doesn’t have to price its product above the competition!!

        Maybe we have lost our way in some areas. Maybe welfare is too easy to come by. I can name at least one person in my life who is receiving welfare she does not deserve, but the case worker failed to check up on her claims.       We don’t the Bush/Cheney failures either. If Obama followed through on the most important jobs promise to “hold illegal employers accountable” we would not have massive unemployment, nor would we as Obama admitted, be paying the bill for illegals going to the ER!

      The E-Verify fixes are simple but VERY effective, but they don’t want to do it because they will not get their majority Latino votes to keep them in office, so they continue to throw our unemployed and everybody else under the bus!!

      1-Add the remaining photos to E-Verify, with technology today that could happen in short-order!!
      2-Mandate employment verification for all jobs started after the I-9 implementation and strongly enforce the maximum mandatory jail time and fines for not having their Confirmation, that goes for the employers and illegals!! It takes less than 3 minutes to type in and get a response, so giving a generous 60 days to comply is not too much to ask considering they will have more customers once our unemployed gets more money!
      3-Go after DHS for erroneous firings because they didn’t change legal workers records in a timely manner!

      Shouting? No. They wouldn’t have to. If it was really was effective, clean, and cost point effective fuel and power generation methods, then there would be demand and a line for it. No shouting required. Now, I do admit that a fuel alternative does have an inherit cost barrier it has to overcome that gasoline/diesel does not and that would be the distribution network to support it. We have gas stations stretching from coast to coast, but no so alternative fueling.

      The cap and trade bill, for those of you without any knowledge, is designed to place a “Cap” on all CO2 emissions. This “cap” would then be partialed out to all people and businesses. If a business wants to expand, it must “trade” something to buy carbon sets for the expansion.

      The REAL problem is that Barney Frank has “patented” an idea to sell the carbon sets. The trouble is that he plans to sell the rights to carbon that the individual (YOU AND I) are supposed to own. His idea states that when you take out a mortgage on a house, your share of the carbon then belongs to whomever owns the mortgage. Therefore, Fannie and Freddie own them and he can sell them. So the more you try to conserve, the more he can sell to make himself money. He would get a fee for managing the sale and an additional fee for the “patent” on the idea. And all he is doing is selling something he does NOT own – you do. And of course the other Democrats like the idea since they are certain that he will make enough billions off this to be able to provide them with all the millions they need to buy their office each election.

        President Franklin D. Roosevelt was ranked the best president ever, followed by Theodore Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.

        While he has only been in office a year and a half, Mr. Obama was rated highly in areas such as imagination, communication and intelligence.

        By comparison, Mr. Bush was ranked 23rd when the survey was conducted in 2002, after his first year in office. This year, Mr. Bush was ranked 39th after receiving poor ratings in communication, foreign policy, intelligence, the economy and his ability to compromise. Mr. Bush’s best ranking came in the category of “luck,” for which he was rated the 18th best president.

        The four presidents who were ranked more poorly than Mr. Bush were Andrew Johnson, James Buchanan, Warren G. Harding, and Franklin Pierce.

        How about we don’t fight wars forever? How about keeping our noses out of other countries affairs? Iraq was no threat and we all know that. As for the middle east, we have been meddling in their affairs since the Crusades. As soon as we found out there were riches to be had, in we go! Perhaps the terrorists would have attacked anyway, but their major objection to us is not how well we live, but that we insist on forcing our values on them. I don’t like the way the Saudis treat their women, but then I didn’t like the way the Christians treated the Jews, or the way the Mormon church treated blacks. Things change with time, and trying to force change hardly ever works.

        As for insisting that the President must have served, what would you say about John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, John Quincy Adams, Martin Van Buren, Grover Cleveland, William Taft, Woodrow Wilson, Warren Harding, Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover, Franklin Roosevelt, and Bill Clinton. Were they all failures? Would the president also need to have fought to be qualified? Then we would have had to leave out James Madison, James Polk, Millard Filmore, Jimmy Carter, George W. Bush and that beloved hero, Ronald Reagan (who only fought in films).

        Being a soldier does not qualify you to lead the military anymore than taking a cruise makes you a qualified ships captain. Perhaps we would do better to remember the words of one President who served well and with honor:

        “…we have been compelled to create a permanent armaments industry of vast proportions. Added to this, three and a half million men and women are directly engaged in the defense establishment. We annually spend on military security more than the net income of all United States corporations.”

        I’m not sure if you’re advocating for shallow drilling? I think if we would have been allowed to drill in shallow water, this mess would not be an issue. I also think the 23 million acres in Alaska would have given us independence from Saudi and Middle East oil as only 2,000 acres were required. When my Dad worked on the Alaska pipeline, they were conscious of the Caribou and wildlife…every precaution taken and the Moose and Caribou actually adapted and walked right under the Pipeline so I personally feel is safer to drill on land and stay away from the oceans! The entire eco system is being destroyed…you can manage damage contol on land! Look at the Niger Delta and Amazon…more oil in those waters…killing their livelyhood and income earnings. When I see children playing in oil ponds it makes me sick!

        Worse. job losses are improved over 1/2009, economy is improved, a ten year cleanup on his plate when he came in and he is only 1.5 years into cleaning up that mess and I suspect you know that and this is the reason conservatives call him the messiah so they can place miracle expectations on him and when as a human he cannot deliver their expectations they call him a failure along with every rotten name in the book.         If you guys would get it right, the financial crisis started back when Clinton decided to give mortage companies and banks the ability of lending monies to most of the people that did not qualify instead of turning them down for a new home. Most fo them were from south of the border and most of them made it as long as they could. The crisis is not coming to the boiling point and the head has blown off. Now since obama has been there he has taken this country to the brink of disaster. What is next for him other than to keep blaming Bush. Please folks, get it right when you add something here. Some good, some bad, but we must hold ourselves 100% accountable for our actions. We must also be willing to accept any repercussions that come back on us because our our decisions.         Personally I am sick of parties. I am an American and the two party system needs to be squashed along with term limits applied to all the big members of our Washington Government as it is with the President. I believe that a vote is a vote and that is how it should be counted. I want my one vote to count as one…not as a group in an area…no more electoral counting should apply. I am sick of being taken every year for more and more of what we work for and less and less rights. I am sick of the government telling us what we can do and then picking our pockets to pay for all their high life style living and traveling…the president needs to sty home and deal with this country and stop traveling around and acting like he is a Hollywood star!

The Two Party system has been the mainstay of this country for over 200 years, and it is the system that allowed a workable democratic government under our Constitution more than any other. The alternatives to a Two Party System in politics are but two: the One Party System of a dictatorship or an autocracy and the multiple party system of France where every election results in anarchy.

On the other hand, those of us who believe in an American single payer plan have no desire to hand the reigns over to a foreign collective. We believe that, as with the oil industry, the medical and pharmaceutical industries have control of us now, and they are bleeding us dry. An American single payer system may be the most cost effective way to insure the health of the our people. We have no desire to control everyone, we would just like to see that all Americans, young and old, rich or poor have a chance to stay healthy. And should you be wealthy and want special treatment, I’m sure there will be a collection of very exclusive, cutting edge doctors willing to do what ever you can afford, not unlike private schools for education.

        France, England, Canada, etc. all have something of this nature. Not all work as well as they could, but outside of Fox news I have never heard or met anyone with a complaint. So far, each of these countries deals with their own medical care. Could they join together and create a world wide health care service? I suppose so. Might they just be waiting for America to get on board? Sure, anything is possible. But if we live out our lives in fear of what “they” might be planning, we’ll never do much of anything.

        Let’s face it, none of us like politicians. No President in my life time (JFK on) has ever been completely honest with us. Whether it is something from their past, their personal lives or how they intend to deal with any given problem, they have lied about something. We don’t expect our representatives to live up to their campaign promises.

        Maybe it’s not always intentional. I knew that, when Arnold Schwartzenegger promised to fix California’s budget he had no idea what he was walking into. Days after he was elected he confessed that it was far more than he expected. So maybe he wasn’t lying so much as being naive? Maybe a lot of what seem to be lies are just wishful thinking. I don’t believe Reagan wanted to grow government, or that Carter wanted to see us sink into a recession. Then again, it seems like the Bush administration was fully aware that they were lying to convince us to go to Iran. There were false claims about connections between Sadam and Osama, which they later denied ever suggesting, and then the reason for going to war changed several times. Clinton lied about Monica to keep his personal life quiet. Nixon “I am not a crook”
        Bush 1 “read my lips”, we’ve become used to it.

        So now everyone is shocked when President Obama responds to Rep. Boehner. What did you expect him to do? Boehner used a colorful image to attack the President, and Obama responded in kind. Had he simply explained why he thought Boehner was wrong he would have been ignored by the press. And so the game goes on. The politicians duke it out with sound bites, the media gives us what they think will get our attention, and we lose in the end.

He is not worth the salary her gets and is a disgrace to all Americans. The black people of this country deserved better representation when someone broke that racial barrier. A lot of them see that race is not the making of a man. We need a strong, honest, brave man to lead us out of this depression.
