GOP Senators Block New Spending Package

June 30, 2010 by

GOP senators block new spending package Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has said that he will pull a Democratic-backed economic relief bill from the floor after it was defeated for the third time last week.

The proposed spending bill would have provided $16 billion in aid to debt-ridden states, allowing them to avoid laying off thousands of government workers. If passed the measure would have also extended emergency unemployment benefits to more than 1 million individuals who have been out of work for at least six months.

In order to offset the cost of the bill, Democrats planned to increase taxes on investment fund managers and domestically produced oil, according to the Associated Press (AP). The unemployment insurance extension program, however, would have contributed to the already ballooning federal deficit.

Senator Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) joined every Republican in defeating the measure, which fell three votes shy of the 60 needed to overcome a GOP filibuster.

"It adds new taxes and over $30 billion to an already staggering $13 trillion dollar national debt," said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.)

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs has said that President Obama will continue to push the Senate to pass the bill in hopes of avoiding a "double-dip" recession.

Meanwhile, the House passed a $6.4 billion piece of legislation last week that will delay for six months a 21 percent pay cut for physicians who treat Medicare patients. The bill, which was passed in the Senate last week, will now head to the president’s desk for his signature.

Well with eleitist, over uneducated, dumb bastard lawyers, and agency wonks, in both government or government run businesses. Don’t have a clue what or how America enterprize works and functions. All we get out of universities and schools, are number shuffling players and they don’t have a rudamentry clue of what it takes for the numbers to happen. It goes back to when “educated” dumb bastards were put in office and a sheep gut diplomia was automitic job approval. Omoron and his radical educated liberal friends, that is we have such a mess. The more lawyers, that get into office, the more scewed up our laws and our contry gets, and more we move to a dictatorship. Try and talk everyday issues with a lawyer, unless it is golf, hiding excess money or how to grease a politiation’s palm, but if you try and discuss how cap and trade will harm us, or how increases in user taxes harm the economy, forget it. Omoron idea of creating jobs and stimulating the ecomonic engine of America. This isn’t a african country or a is he a proud USA citizen, but a muslim radical jackass.

to all of you remember that constitution does not guanuntee anything other than life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. success is what you make of your life. liberty is freedom is no one will dictate to you of force you to do anything you do not want to do unless what you want to do will harm others. your right stop at the touch of my body. slavery is taking my freedom from me and that is what the government is doing to all of us. taking my hard earned greenbacks and giving it to one who has not earned it.

    • Lee

People just don’t think of that.

  • American Citizen

I have to laugh every time members of Congress damn the rich as they are a big part of that class. I guess they must hate themselves as much as we do.

  • JJ

Damn all Democrats & Republicans, lets vote them all out & start over. Couldn’t be any worse…..

I always wonder how many posters send/sent their children to public elementary and secondary schools in the US?
I’m 65, my sister is 4 years younger.
We each went to private schools. She does have a MA from U of MD and a PhD from UNC. My MD is from Georgetown.
My 3 children all graduated from private, nonsectarian elementary, secondary (Greenhill and Hockaday in Dallas)schools and undergrad (SMU; JHU, and Pomona). 2 of the three have MAs from UT/Austin.
Why would anyone tolerate the inferior unionized DIMLIB so called public education in the US?
Get rid of all incumbents and lawyers – you SHEEPLE!!

    • American Citizen

All six of our children also went to private schools. We made the sacrifices needed to afford them. At the present time, one works for the Navy and has several patents, one is a teacher of pre-school mentally challenged students, two are nurses (one OB and one who is assistant director of a nursing facility), one is a CPA who just sold his two offices, and the youngest is secretary in a physician’s office. They are all good citizens, conservative and making their own way. The Constitution does not guarantee us success, it only gives us the opportunity to work for it. It’s government that holds people down.

    • Lee

      I beg your pardon?
MY folks WORKED for a living! We weren’t rich like you so we could go to private schools! Oh, la-te-da! Are we supposed to give you a fish, you’re so wonderful?
ALL of my family, my children, grandchildren and now greats, all went to PUBLIC school, and we have done VERY well for ourselves! My brother is working on his Phd, I have two degrees, my eldest daughter had her degree and was working on a Master’s when she died. My eldest granddaughter has her degree—ALL of us went to PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS! How dare you put down public education?

      • meteorlady

So you really think that public education is great good and wonderful? My nephew is 17 years old and knows nothing about the history of this country. He says his teachers are boring, the school is over run with children that don’t want to learn and are taking up space, and his learning environment is terrible. While you made it is life as did your children, most children that don’t have parents that support them eventually flunk out of school and end up on welfare, the streets or in menial jobs.

    • JC

Alfred…because its mandatory and the government will steal your children if you don’t comply.
      Where have you been anyway?

ATTN: all taxpayers in Minnesota: do you realize that your taxes are paying for all these union jobs from the City, to the county, to the state levels? why is California 30 billion dollars in debt? because of the huge benefits they have to paid employees while working and after they retire. in minnesota and minneapolis, as a union memeber, required, you get 12 paid holidays, minimum of 3 weeks paid vacation to start, 30 days paid sick leave, small cost for health insurance, and a retirement package you wouldn’t believe. plus as most have witnessed, normal work crew of 8 employees, all but 1 or 2 actually working while most stand and hold a shovel. twice as many employees as needed, get rid of 50% gov’t employees at a minimum.

  • patrick

to me it is obvious there are many many idiots in america. after reading all these comments, you idiots must not realize that much of the blame for so many jobs that have been lost in America has been caused by Unions. my god , why does it cost about 15-20,000.00 for a small faamily car? because of high union wages and gov’t taxes. why is China booming? low realistic wages. i used to work for the City of Minneapolis, the liberal democrats run the city and the state of minnesota and if you work for the city you must be a union memeber! if i ran for mayor, i would advocate firing a t least half the city employees and get rid of the unions, # one issue on my slate.

  • Robert

Here’s a novel idea. Why don’t the debt ridden states slash their paroll by 20%, roll back all the pension and medical benefits to state and local government employees to say 1970′s rate, take all the political contributions they have amassed and put it in the State treasuries to reimburse us taxpayers for their wastefull spending and extravagances. Ok yeah, while we’re at it, let’s get some retired special forces soldiers who are unemployed, put them on the federal land that borders Mexico and give them the OK to shoot to kill first then ask questions. I bet some liberal AH will have a field day with my last comment. My attitude, kill them first before they kill you. A New Yorker who remembers 911.

The people in Washington do not care about the American people…in fact they “RESENT OUR DEMANDS”. They belittle us and spit on us. They have such contempt and arrogance that they have to go. They no longer serve the American People. They have lost touch with reality and only care about their circle of peers and friends…they demonize the Tea Party wanting to fight to take America back and call them terroists. Congressman Pete Stark just slammed an “anti-illegal” minuteman who cares about securing the border..this just shows our Government does not care about terrorist coming across or the burden to our society!

This is outrageous…watch this video…they mock sealing the border and the wall even though an engineered wall was already designed! Watch this Congressman in SFO…He definitely needs to go along with Pelosi..SFO produces these kinds of people!! 1st video.

  • ladyogolf

Been out of work for over a year. I don’t want unemployment benefits I want the government to get out of the way let the free markets work, give business’s a tax break, quit holding them hostage with all the programs the Dems are passing that are going to raise their cost of hiring new employees and let the unemployed have jobs not unemployment. We want to work! Quit spending money that we don’t have. Don’t they get it we are broke. Until the Democraps quit their socialist programs there will still be an unemployment rate of 9.7% the county where I live in in California it is about 16%.

    • meteorlady

Funny it’s estimated that there are 25 to 35 million illegals in this country and they are either working or dealing drugs right? So if only 1/2 of them went home Americans could have some pretty good jobs in construction trades and small businesses. I might even be able to afford to hire you.

  • LMW

    @ J.Michael

There you go…starting off a debate with name calling and blaming the past administration….we expect that from liberals. What we’d like to learn to expect would be some real facts to back up your stance…

The “last administration” did not put us in this place all by itself. Biden, Clinton and Obama were all Senators during the last administration – voting on the bills that went before the houses.

Tax cuts for the last 50 years or so have benefited the wealthy because of the “fixes” each Congress votes in to try to fix the previous issues voted in by the previous Congress and so on. Each new Congress, mostly by accident because they are not accountants, they are mostly lawyers, creates new loopholes for the wealthy to learn about at their tax lawyer/accountant’s office. Bush increased many of the credits for the lower incomes families including the Child Credit and increased the amounts at which folks went into a higher tax bracket. You can continue to blame the Republicans for the mess our tax system has become, or you can educate yourself on the real history of its massive growth and then vote in folks who support a real change to our taxation from income/savings to spending.

“Cut the money to medicare”? Are you in support of that or are you accusing Bush of doing that? If the latter, again, please educate yourself – the cuts to medicare are in the health care reform law that was shoved down America’s throat by the Obama administration with bribes and kickbacks and “we’ll have to pass it to see whats in it” statements by the current administration.

And all those government employees you referenced….I suppose you are aware that the only sector to have grown since 2008 is the government sector? And that they are on average paid more in wages, salaries and benefits then the private sector? And that it is the tax payer who pays those salaries, wages and benefits? And that so many of us taxpayers are unemployed, underemployed or have had hour and salary cuts? And that is was THIS administration whose stimulus did NOT keep that unemployment under 8% as promised? And that congress has voted itself and the perifiel employees pay raises and bonuses during this period of great unemployment in the private sector – again, the unemployed whose taxes pay those salaries? You are aware are you not that the reason the government always says its teacher and police and firefighters who will be laid off to scare us and make us feel guilty when we tell them “no more”? They could cut thousands of jobs in the government without ever touching the police, etc…but they won’t ….for political reasons. And let’s look at the Gulf right now, where bureaucracies (in other words, government employees) are creating a nightmare in the clean up and protection of the shores.

Wall Street was regulated – the SEC – another of those bureaucracies – were watching 8 hours of porn each day while the taxpayers paid their salaries and for the computer and the internet access….they didn’t do their job and find the loophole that the wall street folks found and exploited….

Bush warned Congress 8 times over his term that the housing bust was coming and that more regulations needed to be put in place – Dem. Barney Frank ridiculed the very idea that Frannie and Freddie needed MORE regulation…..

And are you aware that the water was shut off deliberately to the farmers in the “Bread Basket” to save a wee fishie? In California, and Pelosi didn’t give a damn?

My friend, you are the one who needs to wake up – it is not one party that is destroying this country…..and until you folks who want to blame everything on the other party wake up…nothing is going to change.

    • Lee

      Very well said!
But I don’t think the little man got the message!

  • bob pa

well lets see the people have been paying into social security since 1932 and obama wants to cut benifits to seniors. everyone has been paying into medicare and they want to cut benifits to seniors, and want to cut many procedures for seniors. but they want to increase drastically benifits to illegal alliens, and to wellfare receipiants. they want to stop oil production and make solar and wind power which only works when wind is blowing and sun is shining which cannot supply energy 24/7, when you have peak demand in the summer and all the airconditioners are on everywhere how do you supply the energy? the politicians have no clue on how to run an ecomomy. if it were not for the people who pay their salaries {they are drasticly overpaid} and their perks they would be out on the street. and by seeing how they run the country i do not think anyone would hire imbeciles like them. if you look at the housing crisis you will how we will be with this kind of government speending. they have no clue as to what will happen to this country and they do not care. its them they worry not for us. think about this in november.

    • American Citizen

We not only did not get a COLA raise this year, our supplemental insurance premiums went up. Fortunately, our insurance agent visited with us yesterday and got us on to another insurance with cheaper premiums. Everything is going up, food, utilitites, and Congress said we didn’t need a raise, yet they raised their own salaries. Go figure.

    • Lee

I say we should demand congress take cuts in their pay, wipe out all their retirement funds, no perks, no private jets, no limos. All congressional people and the “president” would have to live on no more than $50,000 a year, and pay their own way on airliners (coach class), Chevvys and Fords for vehicles, and NO parties, NO fancy dinners, NO uppity meetings with foreigners! In fact, NO foreigners–whether they are illegal, legal or visitors!

    • JC

Here again…a socialist program that is being renegged on and doesn’t work anyway.

    • meteorlady

If LBJ had not opened the Social Security TRUST FUND up to government pilfering, we would still have enough money there for years and years and years. But to pay for Medicare he opened it up and then the federal government start outright theft. If Unions or business robbed their employees pension fund they would be subject to prosecution. Hmmmmmmm………..

  • TIME

Folks as the Republicans in the Senate don’t have the ability to stop anything, there had to be some Democrats that agreed, don’t you think?

    • meteorlady

      Ya one.

  • Steve Bouton

I’m proud of the Republicans for at least showing a little backbone and discipline. I doubt it will last, but at least I can hope. Anyhow, I don’t know if Obama is incompetent, corrupt, or both. This ‘Spend our way out’ of this recession thang has been tried before by another president on the ‘WORST EVER’ list- FDR. And Obama’s meddlings (assuredly like FDR’s) will prolong our economic hardships- not help shorten them.

    • meteorlady

You only need to look to Japan. They have been stimulating for 10 years and are still in economic recovery mode. If they had let some things fail they would have come back stronger and faster.

  • http://www.adobemachine.com Dan

And not just the national crooks but at the state and local level. Judges, commissioners, mayors, etc all on the take.

    • JC

      Let Justice reign.

  • http://www.adobemachine.com Dan

Between the GOP sucking the corporate tittie and the Liberal left sucking the corporate tittie we’re pretty much F#$%^&. We HAVE to get them out! All of them

  • http://msn.com walt pet

OH LOOK THE AT ALL THE S@*; AND SO ON THAT THE GOP HAS DONE IN THE LAST 8 YRS THEY STARTED A WAR THAT WAS JUST FOR THEM TO MAKE BIG MONEY AND IT WAS OK TO SPEND MONEY . SENT OUR YOUNG OUT TO WAR AND GAVE VERY LITTLE TO EQMENT TO WORK WITH ANY HOW WHEN ARE WE ALL GOING TO GET TO GETHER WORK OUT THE PROBLEMS ? IF WE ARE JUST GOING YELL AND SWARE THEN THAT S WHAT WE WILL GET .

    • Robin, Arcadia, IN

walt pet… If your rant is the best you can come up with for an excuse to allow the Dems to continue spending money that isn’t there, then you are really not understanding the problem. And since you brought up the Bush/Cheney years, we were safe during that administration and economically doing well. Things only started going south when we got a Democratic Congress in charge.

Personally I would love to live in an all Republican world. Fantasy? Yes… But I’m willing to bet that if the US was divided in half, the Republican side would be a safer and more prosperous place to be. The way things are going, we are all going to lose. Then the progressives will have things their way…..

      • J.Michael

I’m from Indiana also,it’s people like you that give this state a bad name. I’ll give you this,Clinton did deregulate Wallstreet, but Bush/Cheney just made it worse. Although, the budget was balanced during Clinton’s term,Bush blew it all. If it’s so great to be a republican how come Indiana is taking in more money than we pay in taxes(welfare state). By the logic I’ve seen,at times on this site, then My B%&^h Mitch is responsible for the economic meltdown here in our state. Why do our senior care facilities rank at the bottom of the list? How come Wishard is allowed to steal Federal money from the care facilities they run and use it for whatever they chose? Why do we continue to go round and round on property taxes? What about the deal with BP he has in Whiting? Oh yeah, what do you mean “safe”,American soldiers are dieing, that doesn’t sound safe. What with one Illegal war that distracted him from the actual mission,Bin Laden-remember,and now we are funneling money into these countries supposedly nation building. You should read more, and I don’t mean the Indianapolis Star.

      • American Citizen

J Michael, I also am from Indiana. I see you’ve bought into the lies of the lamestream media. You seem to have forgotten 9/11 as have a lot of Democrats. What would you have done differently? President Bush said they would follow the trail of the terrorists wherever it led and it did lead in one direction into Iraq as well as Afghanistan. The Iraq war is more easily fought than Afghanistan as Obama is finding out.

      • American Citizen

In addition, it was the Democrats failing to do the oversight of the lending companies that led to our present predicament. Dodd, Rangel and Frank were supposed to be the overseers. President Bush warned Congress about the situation, but Frank told them everything was OK. Those incompetents are still up there.

      • Robin from Arcadia, IN

        J. Michael… You have asked a lot of questions in your rant. What have you done to get answers? Have you written our Governor, or any of the Representatives? Called any one or attended any town hall meetings?

        BTW… I don’t read the Indianapolis Star. I don’t get the reference.

And yes, we do have men and women in the military laying their lives on the line. I have a strong military background. I appreciate each and every one of them. Tell me, would you rather have our military fight on foreign soil, or here? Keeping the fight on their turf seems a better option to me.

      • Ted Crawford

In addition to the truths that A.C. points out, we might recall, michaelj, that in spite of the wars, the real spending didn’t begin untill we elected the 110th. Congress!! Run by? You guessed it reid and pelosi!! When we throw-in frank and dodd, we have the foursome from hell!!!

      • JC

J Michael…you do seem singularly focused.
If you are passionate about America’s “future” you better get your head out of the past. Learn from it…but don’t live it.
You need to live in the “now”. And NOW we have an imposter in the White House on a mission to finish us off completely.
        Wake up!

      • http://?? Joe H.

        J Michael,
Just a couple of points. Clintoon didn’t leave Bush a balanced budget. Proven fact. It was Clintoons cuts of the defense budget that sent our young men into harms way ill equipped! Also proven fact! Just one more son, hold on. Clintoons cuts to that self same budget are the main reason that our disabled coming from that war were treated so poorly as well!! He had no use for our troops as was well documented when he demonstrated against this country on foreign soil in England during the VietNam war. I know, I WAS there!!

      • http://naver samurai

I’m from Indiana too, you moron! Can we get off of the old topics and try to stick to what is going on now? If you are from Indiana and you sound like that, all I can say is that you should move somewheres else. Preferably far, far away! FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

      • meteorlady

THE BUDGET WAS NOT BALANCE DURING THE CLINTON YEARS. IF you believe the Clinton spin I’ve got waterfront for you in UTah. Clinton left bush with $17.9 BILLION the day Bush took office. The next year was also a Clinton signed budget which upped the debt to $133 BILLION. Clinton counted the SS Trust fund income to “balance his budget” but he conveniently didn’t count the out going money from the Trust fund. Bush had the budget coming down until his last two years when – guess what! the Dems gained control and started spending again! You can verify this in a number of place including the US Treasuries website.

As for the Wars – I’m sure the Kurds and other persecuted people in Iraq would think the war was worth it. I would call gassing people as using weapons of mass destruction – if not what would you call them? Afghanistan is different – we should have just gone after bin Laden instead of another war there.

    • Carol

Walt, are you kidding me? The GOP started the war to make money????Wake up. How quickly we forget. Don’t you remember President Bush and most members of Congress (Obama excluded, of course) standing on the steps in agreement, as the President announced the decision to go to war. No one wants war but they attacked us right here on our own soil and as everyone knows, based on the best intelligence we had at that time, both parties agreed; going to war was the right choice at that time in history. To blame that on President Bush and the GOP – how incredibly absurd can you be. Obama is the most unAmerican, incompetent president we have ever had. Spend, spend spend, should be his motto. Even the European countries are asking him to stop spending! He’s done nothing to help this economy get back on track since taking office except get us deeper in debt. God help us, and I mean that literally!

      • JC

All government’s that “start” wars do so to make money, increase the power and scope of the government itself and induce controllable fear into the sheeple.
It’s one of the oldest policies (tricks) in the world and it doesn’t wear a red or blue tie.

    • Lee

Ok, and all the years the Johnson administration made money off the Vietnam War was nothing?
Don’t make me laugh! You are pathetic!

  • http://jenersea@comcast.net Jim

Good, stop the spending. Bush was beat up one side and down the other for what he spent. Obie has spent 3 times the amount and the media and most of the people say nothing about it. REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER and oust that whole socialist regime from power.

  • http://aol phil

I have been through layoffs in my working career and it is difficult, but to extend unemployment compensation for 2 years is nothing more than a socialist state. This is what Obama (one bad ass mistake america) is trying to do. This man is so far in over his head, he doesn’t know whether to S*** or go blind.

    • Abby

me too since 2008. But no more spending. Nothing like adversity to wake America up. As long as the government keep trying to pacify us with money, we will never rise and do what is right. Finally, the Republicans found their balls! (sorry but I have to say balls!)

  • J.M.R.

THIS ADMINISTRATION DOESN’T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT OUR COUNTRY, THEY WANT THAT ASS HOLE ONE WORLD CRAP, AND I SAY STICK IT WHERE THE SUN DOESN’T EVEN GO.

  • http://www.adobemachine.com Dan

What is incredible is that the Dems don’t have a problem with subsidizing the wages of government workers, Not once have they addressed the problem of manufacturing having left the US as though the government actually creates wealth. We need to get manufacturing BACK!

    • meteorlady

That’s because NAFTA and free trade with China happened on their watch. Also the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act happened on their watch which took controls off banks and wall street. Clinton also signed a law allowing drug companies to advertise their poison and that added hughly to the cost of prescription drugs. By hey, he got a lot of campaign money from China, Walmart and Mexico.

  • JAQUEBAUER

The Dems must have a large empty space where a normal human brain would be. This can be the only explanation for their consistant mantra of spending your way out of debt. A six year old knows that if they don’t put their pennys in the piggy bank, and keep buying candy with the pennys left in the piggy bank, soon there will be no more pennys, and no more candy.

    • J.Michael

Apparently, just like the repube’s(republican’s),as your short term memory doesn’t allow you to remember, it was the last administration that put us into this situation. Tax cuts(no more pennies going into the piggie bank),mostly for the wealthy,2 wars-unpaid for,oil deregulation, etc. Hell, cut the money to medicare, just bring them a couple of chickens. Yes,I can’t wait for all those government employees to get down-sized,no more trickle down. Since “WE THE PEOPLE” paid taxes for unemployment and we’ve been doing so well, where’s all the money? Once again you show your ignorance, all this was created, wierdly enough, due to Wall Street not being regulated and a natural disaster-Dust Bowl-created by bad farming practices and a total misunderstanding of that particular environment. It was called the Great Depression. Why don’t all the republican politicians give up their perks and not take any raises? How about cutting off retirement benefits for presidents and all politicians, cut off bodygaurds to past presidents. No more career politicians. I could go on,but nothings really change since Nixon.

      • airangel

It’s BOTH PARTIES! Both being self indulgents and what will advance their career, their fame, their fortune….Career politicians have to go or demonstrate they can clean up the muck we’re in by actually doing something productive, visible and beneficial to American Citizens…I’m so sick of Dems this, Repubs that, it really doesn’t matter who did what so let’s stop name blaming and start being decent human beings and bring America back up from the ashes she is quickly disenigrating too…we need a major revival and it doesn’t start with BIGGER GOVERNMENT AND BOGUS SPENDING…when a family doesn’t have money, they evaluate and see where they can cut and where they can utilize better what they do have…we need to elect “candidates” not “titles” that can cut through all the BS and propaganda and get results!!! True Americans that care about the well being of this country and it’s people!!

      • American Citizen

Democrats have always been known as the party of tax and spend. His last two years and office Bush had to deal with a Democrat Congress. Stop the blame game. We need to take care of business here and now. Obama’s policies have been nothing short of disastrous for this country.

      • Lee

I am so fed up with people blaming the Republicans for something that has been going on since the inception of the nation by both parties! The Democrats can’t do anything without raising taxes on the working people, yet if someone, especially a Republican president gives some help to those same working people through a tax cut, the Democrats come screaming out of the woodwork! Maybe if they would change the pitch of their shrillness, they might learn something!

      • JC

That is incredibly small minded J. Michael. I take it your too young and poorly educated to understand that the damage that has been done took more than one administration, or to realize that it has never been as bad or pushed so hard by any previous administration as by this one.
The Kenyan is completely and utterly hostile to America and why wouldn’t he be?
He’s an African Muslim and his loyalties are elsewhere…

      • meteorlady

You really need to do a fact check. We the People do not pay into unemployment. We the small and large business pay into that fund. When they increase the tax burden on us we pass the cost onto you the consumer. When we pass on too much cost we go out of business because we can’t compete with other, less expensive imports. As for the last administration – please fact check that also. Go to the US Treasury website and see what the actual federal deficit was when Clinton left office, then see what it was before the Democrats took control of congress and the house two years before Bush’s exit. Bush received a federal deficit from Clinton (Clinton counted income from SS Trust Fund but didn’t count the outgo) of $17.9 BILLION, the following year was also a Clinton signed budget and left Bush with a $133 BILLION deficit. Even with both wars Bush was lowering the deficit until the Democrats gained control his last two years. Please get your facts straight before posting.

What part of “create jobs” don’t they understand? All they know how to do is spend and raise taxes. Create American Jobs, End NAFTA, Secure the borders so we can deport illegals and make them come through proper check points to be screened for health and for work. Stop taxing the workers to death or they will be next on the unemployment lines that won’t be there. Stop penalizing companies that pay into unemployment and health insurance…STOP making more laws and take care of this country…it’s YOUR JOB!…clean up the gulf..it’s a breathable toxic nightmare…focus there, create American jobs, bulldoze unihabitable areas and farm for food…and YES, STOP SPENDING! Don’t you politicians know how to do anything else? Be creative, think out of the box, roll your sleeves up and produce something tangible for America besides more rules and regs and thousand page documents – Stop killing more trees, the contribute to the green world – don’t cha know?! Oh and Brown Bag it from now on and cancel all parties…We the Tax Paying People can’t afford your extravaganza and self indulgence any longer!

rigth ON! STOP THE GAMES AND THR PARTIES

    • Willie

      Excellent!!!!!

    • J.Michael

Wait a minute, your asking the government to create jobs? I thought you wanted less government? Oh,only when you think it’s OK. The only people the repub’s don’t taxes equally are the rich, they get all the breaks. Bush didn’t secure the borders. Do you mean that Republican get together at the lesbian-bondage club?

      • airangel

J.Michael…I want this CURRENT GOVERNMENT TO DO THEIR JOBS! MORON!

      • airangel

I never worked for a poor man have You? Or do you even work? Like it or not, we’re not all equal in the money chain…some will always have money and some won’t (there needs to be fair treatment of employees and they need to pay taxes) We all need fair flat tax laws…Capitalism DOES create jobs, grows the economy in the private sector, creates competition, etc…which BTW, Private Sector jobs with employees that earn a paycheck is how we pay for GOVERNMENT and employees that work for the Government! Without the producers of society, you can not sustain an inflated Government! Stop the blame game…we need to focus on the “HERE AND NOW”!

      • Denniso

Air…You still don’t understand capitalism. When a collapse ocurrs after a boom, the economy has a very difficult time recovering on it’s own,and can take decades to do it…typically,as in the great depression,it takes huge gov’t spending to do it. The war spending and forced manufacturing was the mechanism that got us totally out of the depression. Roosevelt’s policies helped, but couldn’t do it alone,as the programs weren’t large enough…the war spending was large enough and the war took millions of men off the streets and into military jobs. Now, was that capitalism or was it gov’t spending during a depression that fixed things?

they can “create” jobs by lowering taxes on small businesses, getting the illegals out that are taking our jobs, by taxing companies that take american jobs to foreign soil to hell so they don’t make any more money than they would if they kept the jobs here among other things. there are jobs out there, but the unemployed would rather draw unemployment than take them. they don’t have to take a job that pays less then they were making when they got laid off. how’s this for thinking outside the box – make them take any job available and give them half their unemployment. based on the latest figure i found at a quick glance, “The state unemployment rate in November 2008 was 5.6 percent. In that month, the Texas Workforce Commission paid $136,655,893 in regular unemployment insurance benefits, Hatchitt said.” if we had made them take jobs at mcdonalds, church’s chicken, etc., we would’ve saved $68,327,946.50 in that one month. do the same thing to welfare mothers – make them work and pay them the difference. don’t give welfare mothers more money if they have more children while on welfare. catholic so don’t believe in birth control? don’t have sex. there are sooooooooo many ways you can think outside the box to save money and create jobs, but it’d take somebody with gonads to do it, and obama doesn’t have any. and it’s not just the dems, we’re coming for those reps who have screwed the pooch too.

AGREED BARB! Seems like we need everyday citizens running things…these politicians that have been in office 10 plus years are so out of touch!

      • JC

        And bought off.

      • nwrkjoel

The government can create jobs (other than government jobs) by cutting taxes. It is a proven historical fact. Look at the Reagan years.

      • American Citizen

Government creates jobs by cutting taxes.

      • JC

And that is the ONLY way government can create jobs…well, jobs that produce anything anyway…

      • Ricketts

        to J. Michael
Of course tax breaks go to those who pay taxes, how could you lower the rates on the 47% or so of the population that pays NO TAX?

I am about to lose my job because BO has pushed the taxes so high the company is no longer profitable, hundreds more on unemployment. Without the massive tax increases for the new programs for the non working groups, or better a tax cut, the jobs would be saved and even more could be working. Basic economics!!

      • JC

Sorry to hear about your job Ricketts. You are a victim of socialist policies and this is demonstrative of the FACT that socialism just does not work…never has, never will.

The left are phoney, ignorant, hypocrites. For something one day and against it the next. General Patraeus (Betray us) and now “What a brilliant choice”…..We oould tax all of us 100% (including the rich,) and not generate enough revenue to cover the ever increasing deficit and national debt. People need to go back to work and tax revenue would go up and dare I say it? Lower taxes and create the jobs that pay those taxed. The G20 finally gets it! Cut their deficits in half bt 2012. All of them except Obama of course. Getting kinda lonely out there is Mr prez?

      • Lee

What did the general do to you?
        Maybe you should sign up!
Or, maybe you can’t because of flat feet?

      • meteorlady

I think that the General gave up his job in protest. He gave us some insight into the politics of war. He was generally right and so were his staff members. As for Rolling Stone – they should have had the integrity to publish on “on the record” comments but maybe the General meant them to be published so people would wake up and see the light.

      • Gary

J Michael–your ignorance is classic liberal based mentality. The rich pay more than their share of taxes and so do the middle class. The illegals and lower class pay no taxes! Where does charitable funding come from?……Those that are better off and the middle class. Do the middle and upper class rob liquor stores, carjack, and overcrowd our prisons?—No they are too busy working and paying their own way. Every dime that the government take from the workers/taxpayers is one less dime that will support businesses both small local ones and large. The government has no money except the money paid by the working taxpayers! Every government agency entrusted with ongoing funds is consistently over budget and broke. More government has never been and never will be the answer! J. Michael you either don’t work for a living or if you do you haven’t thought this through. My guess is that YOU do not pay your fair share of taxes so quit pointing fingers!

      • meteorlady

So the Marriage Penalty is going away and if your married you will be paying more taxes. The investment tax credits are going away so if you are investing in your future for retirement that will also go away. Is that what you call giving tax breaks to the rich?

Why is everyone so sure that the rich are deserving of higher taxes when they already pay approximately 85% of all taxes paid in this country? Is that not enough for all of you? Are you willing to stand by and watch them pay 100% until they can no longer invest in businesses, create jobs and generally live to a standard that most have worked very hard to obtain? Is it OK that small businesses are included in the tax the rich schemes of this administration?

  • diane

Now we need to start repealing all the junk this congress has illegally shoved on to We the People from day 1 of this horrid administration!

Good thing the Democrats delayed the doctors pay cuts before the ‘November Elections’ or all the Medicare patients would find out the truth about Obama and the Democrats’ health care policies when the doctors refuse to administer to those who are in the programs that qualify for the cuts in payments. But after those elections, this will happen, but by then the Democrats will have their people in office before the truth is revealed. Those Democrats may not be to good with the budget and creating jobs, but they certainly are on top of tricky strategies to get themselves elected to office. To bad for them that they don’t get to keep making payments to the unemployed, of six months or more, before the elections. I guess they can’t get every tricky strategy through Congress, even some Democrats have integrity.

Get the hint Democratic majority, no more spending!!! Cut services and return our Nation to economic stability.
