Conservatives up in arms over Florida governor abortion stanceEarlier this month Florida Governor Charlie Crist vetoed a bill that would have required a woman to get an ultrasound before an abortion, in an apparent reversal of his earlier pro-life stance. In response, a conservative group launched an ad campaign targeting the governor who is running for the United States Senate later this year.

The conservative organization called Family Research Council (FRC) Action PAC unveiled a radio ad campaign that urges state residents to oppose Crist and his policies. The ad is also part of the FRC campaign to help elect Crist’s conservative opponent Marco Rubio.

"Governor Charlie Crist used to claim to be pro-life. Now he’s just pro-Crist. Since leaving his party he’s decided he’d rather be pro-abortion, removing the pro-life section from his website and vetoing a bill that would allow women to see an ultrasound of their child before having an abortion," the ad states.

It makes a reference to the governor’s departure from the GOP earlier this year to run as as an independent when it became clear he wouldn’t have his party’s support.

Florida fiscal and social conservatives have billed Rubio as a pro-family and pro-life candidate.

    I must say that I would rather be engulfed in a sea of “pro-death” individuals than have to stomach even ten holier-than-thou morons who slaughter not a meaningless dime-sized embryo, but our beloved English language. It is sad to see so many that do not value the nuances of grammar, punctuation, spelling and, indeed, with a comparatively diminutive vocabulary. You are the untermenschen who should be ‘brought to the light’; you dilute our primary means of communication, yet have gall enough to impose your foolish beliefs on others? Bear in mind that by seeking out this medical service (by getting the dreaded and stigmatized abortion [!!!]), women are (at least in the state in which I reside) not breaking a law. I respect the laws that govern our wonderful land; I do not, however, respect the imbeciles who consult an antiquated novel for what would have to be anachronistic advice in order to live their lives. I resent the fact that these are the very same individuals who contend that the Earth on which we live is a mere six-thousand years old despite evidence of undeniable veracity to the contrary. Though I respect the fact that you are entitled to your opinions, I must say that I abhor the notion that I would need to heed any of your pithy advice lest something awful (other than decomposition) transpire to me after I die (a concept that is foolish enough in and of itself).

    And to think, I was raised on “catholic” (i.e. private) education! I suppose I should not complain, however, as it did facilitate (at least in part) my acceptance to one of the most prestigious universities in the world (I will give you a hint: “Mens et Manus”).

    Then, in the next breath, they demand the government take away 50% of our population’s control over their own body.

    Sickens me that they cannot even see the hypocrisy.

    Unwanted fetuses grow into neglected, or abused, children. Adoption is NOT always a “good” thing.

    Bottom line is wanting the government to limit this choice, is asking the government to limit ALL choices, including the ones you don’t want them to butt into.

    Nowhere does the bible tell you to demand using government intervention or force that another person does right by their immortal soul, stay the the heck out of it.

    Or, start to enjoy the prison you are turning this country into.

      If I remember correctly the government stepped in and made abortion legal to start with. The anti abortionist are asking them to undo what they did and stay out of it.

      Why not think about whether or not you want a kid before they are conceived and that way the blood of innocent children won’t be on our hands.

      I say: There is hypocrisy alright and it is sickening, and there may be some coming from the anti abortion crowd, but there is one thing for sure there is plenty coming from the abortion crowd.

      The government should have stayed out of it years ago before they legalized murder.

You want to have your fun time but if you screw up, (no pun intended) you don’t want to be held responsible for it!!! If someone screws up and drunkenly hits your car and damages it, you want them to be held responsible but you don’t want to be held to the same standard when there’s a life involved! I say this and I have a handicapped son that I will have to be responsible for the rest of my life and gladly so. I’m not a hypocrite!!!

    I believe abortion is murder. I can’t see how anyone can come to any other conclusion.
    The other side of the coin is that abortion is a murder of convenience. If we as humans conclude this is an acceptable form of birth control, as we obviously have, and we make it legal, then it is so.
    If there is a God and he/she/it finds to be unacceptable then the wrath of God (assuming God is upset) will be felt by the guilty.
    I personally can accept this.

This then gives “believers” the right to break the law and cause harm to others. Shooting abortionists and destroying abortion clinics and other acts of violence simply can not be tolerated. I can’t believe a just God could smile upon intolerence.

      Michael, I think you are missing the point ! You can’t have a “Soul” unless you have a “Spirit” and a corporeal “Body” …… So it works like this Spirit + Body = Soul … OK ? Your Soul gives you the capacity to Reason …. Is it Sunday ? Enough with the “Theology for Dummies” lesson …..

      Their is a viable corporeal body at the point of conception, it’s based on the genome (at present the scientific consensus) not the “brain” – Where are you ? In the 19th Century ? Concentrate ! At point of conception it’s one unique package. In the sense of a Logos (not an incorporeal metaphysical notion !) created reality … A unique corporeal logical actualization — not a potentiality ! LIFE ! It’s alive !

      A lot of these abortions are performed late term and the CHILD could have lived if allowed outside the womans body. Are you trying to tell me that Jesus, MY LORD AND SAVIOR would agree to killing him/her??? At todays pace, we are saving babies for couples at earlier and earlier deliveries, does that not mean that they are murdering the ones at a later term than the earliest one saved? There is an easy answer to this problem. find a couple willing to adopt the child BEFORE it is born and make it final. That would greatly limit the need for orphanages from birth!

    The real problem is that we allowed our nation to teach our young people to “have fun!” Feminism came up with the idea of free love – meaning free sex.

    Sex is and should be a part of love. If you don’t love someone don’t have sex with them. Then you won’t be creating a child no one wants. Sex outside of marriage is one of the things that is ripping marriage apart.

    But we won’t have that unless we kick out all the ideas of free sex, force our entertainment people to get rid of sex in selling movies and goods, and teach our young people that sex is not for fun but for love.

    Marta: I live in Florida and read the legislation. It did not deny the right of the woman to have an abortion. What it said was the woman would be required to view an ultrasound or sign a letter declining to view it. It did not say she cannot have an abortion. Governor Christ simply sided with Planned Parenthood which is a misnomer because what they actually are pro-abortion and have many facilities in Texas and millions to operate thanks to Karen Sebulious, Health Secretary and a
    a pro-abortion activist in the Obama Administration.

    In today’s time, there are so many options for a woman to prevent a pregnancy, therefore, I do not think it is too much to ask a woman to view the ultrasound because we are, after all talking about a life forming and believe that life should at least have an opportunity to be born. You talk about woman’s rights but what about the unborn child? Ask the Citizen’s of Florida what they thought about this and you will find that majority (70% in Central Florida) were in favor of this legislation. They say that this will throw votes to Marc Rubio. Not my vote because I think Rubio will be just another corrupt politician as his hands are already dirty from past deeds. I don’t agree with the Governor on this veto but I do know that he is certainly more honest than Mr. Rubio and does what is best for this state in most cases. With it comes the heat but you can’t make everyone happy all the time.

    It is not good for women to have children they do not want, and I for one would not want to force them to. But I would say that this decision should be made prior to the baby being conceived.

    As far as the death penalty goes, let me be sure I have this straight as I would not want to falsely represent what you said: You wouldn’t want to put to death someone that has committed a heinous crime and ruined families, but you would kill a baby because you did not want it.

    If that is the case, all I can say is “WOW”

    Charlie Crist showed his TRUE colors when he took this stance. Just ask any liberal when they stop short of the ENTIRE sentence when they say; “It’s about the woman’s ‘right’ to choose” this question: CHOOSE WHAT? Let them hang themselves when they complete the sentence by using the PC word “abortion”. Then ask them what the meaning of “abortion” is. Abortion is nothing less than wholesale MURDER of an unborn child–PERIOD! Anyone who supports this heinous crime is an abomination to God and that’s one reason we, as a nation, are losing out financial, industrial and military might-God is removing His hand from the blessings that He gave this country because of the serious moral decline and support of the Murder of innocent babies among a lot of other issues. To you agnostics and atheists out there: no one can convince you of the truth unless God himself gives you a personal revelation; other than that, you WILL burn in the hell you do not believe in!

Jesus told his deciples; “He who sees sin and says or does nothing about it, is as guilty as the sinner.” I just hope that Charlie Crist gets the same result in Novembers general elections as Alan Specter got in his primary elections in Pennsylvania.

    You can not force anyone to do right. You probably are for the death penalty. If you are forcing a woman to have a baby she feels she does not want, are you also prepared to support this mother with all the things she needs to raise that individual? I bet not. You just want to force a woman to have a baby. The agenda is”Let’s have women under our thumb.” Then as the poor children grow unwanted, a good number turn criminals and then you lock them up and sentence them to death. Pro-life? yeah, right.

      Marta Isabel.. I once thought as you do…back when I was a teenager/ young adult. Since then I have grown up and understand that abortion is murder. God is the giver of life. Children are a gift from God. Women and men need to be raised in Godly homes and make decisions that honor and glorify God. I know of many couples who have adopted children and many who tried for years to have children before conceiving. Why? Only God knows.

      Crist is on his way out. He is a flip-flop politician who’s only concern is for himself, not much different than Spector. The next election will tell the story.

      Another viewpoint is why is a woman having consensual sex without a contract ? At least whores get paid. Married women have the support of their husbands if they get pregnant. If your a woman having sex outside marriage (or a contract) your economically lower than a whore ……

      Why should society support an unmarried pregnant woman who had consensual sex ? That wouldn’t be fair to the prostitutes !! You might as well legalize prostitution and give them some government support during the off seasons …….

      What about the other injured party ? I’m talking about the man who didn’t pay you or give you the contract of marriage. Why should he be forced to pay child support ? The woman leads the man on that the sex is free and then he gets dragged into court 9 months later !!! WHY DOESN’T A MAN HAVE THE RIGHT TO A FINANCIAL ABORTION ? WHERE IS THE EQUAL RIGHTS ?

      WE ARE BEING OVERRUN BY ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS, but at least the Latina women have babies .. the rate of abortion much lower… THE AMERICAN WOMEN SHOULD BE ASHAMED ! Maybe God is giving the US over to the Latinos because of our national sin of Abortion !!!

      You assume that we would have to come up with a way to provide for the mother to raise the child herself. Amazing seeing as how there are many couples who want children but cannot have them for various reasons. I could be wrong, but I think there might be enough demand for adoption that it wouldn’t be a problem. See, here is where the problem is. If you abort the child, the mother avoids her living offspring. But women are designed by their very nature to develop a strong nurturing bond with their children. I know there are abusive moms and all sorts of family ills but just because things go wrong doesn’t mean there is no biological imperative built into women to bond with the children they birth. See? That is where the problem for these women comes in. If they actually give birth to a live child, the odds go up that that they will want to keep it and now the child will get in the way of the lifestyle they envision. I how can I say this…. It is as if we instinctively know that we will bond with the child and so we seek to kill the infant before this happens.

      The bill that Crist vetoed required the pregnant woman to make an informed choice by seeing what she is about to abort and kill. You want her ignorant so in the future she figures out what she did and regrets it for the rest of her life, just as do the mothers of children given up for adoption. Why don’t you do some studying about women’s psychology before you make these ignorant statements. The bill had nothing in it to require the woman to give birth to a child. Seems like what pro-choice advocates fear most is a well informed pregnant woman, why is that?

      How in hell can you compare the murder of an innocent child that hasn’t even been accused of anything to the legal execution of a man or woman found guilty of a capital crime, sometimes caught in the act of commiting the crime??? Are you without the capacity of thought???
