Obama Asks Congress For $50 Billion In Aid To Avoid State Layoffs

June 17, 2010 by

Obama asks Congress for $50 billion in aid to avoid state layoffs President Obama has requested that Congress quickly approve nearly $50 billion in emergency aid to help prevent states from being forced to lay off more workers.

In a letter written to congressional lawmakers, Obama suggested that last year’s $787 billion Federal stimulus package will not be enough to avoid the "massive layoffs" of teachers, firefighters and law enforcement personnel.

"The lingering economic damage left by the financial crisis we inherited has left a mounting employment crisis at the state and local level that could set back the pace of our economic recovery," he wrote.

Obama’s proposal came as a surprise to lawmakers from both sides of the aisle, who said the president failed to mention the plan during a White House meeting late last week, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Republican members of Congress spoke out against the request on Monday, noting that previous Federal spending contributed to the mounting deficit while doing little to reduce the nation’s near 10 percent unemployment rate.

"Democrats are showing either that they just don’t get it on this issue of the debt, or that they just don’t care," said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.). "You can understand the American people’s skepticism when they’re told that simply adding more government is the solution to government’s previous failures."

How about ending these wars, that should free up some cash

What a great idea. Think you can get the Taliban and Al Qaeda to agree as well? That’d probably save enough money to get us through most of this year. What do you propose we do for next year to balance the budget?

    • JC

Not a bad idea. Bring the troops home, secure our borders. Surround the White House and no one gets in or out until we get some explanations. Return to American industry and let the rest of the world look after itself for a while.

I say that the government lay off one half of the government work force. That’s about how many of the private sector jobs that have been lost. Also ban all unions, they are not needed this day and time.
Also get rid of Obama’s shadow government(czars, all are socialist, communist, revolutionaries and down right haters of America).
No more of our tax money going to pork barrel spending by some greedy
polition who has been in congress so long he’s forgot how hard it is to
make a living in the private sector. Term limits for all congress house
and senate. Retirement in private sector is 67 so should it be in congress. mehpensacpla,fl.

Start by impeaching our problem before he can do any more damage.

He’s sneaky in the middle of the night kind of sneaky. You don’t see his damage until after it’s none. Like yesterdays executive order, This “presidential determination,” which allows hundreds of thousands of Palestinians with ties to Hamas to resettle in the United States , was signed and appears in the Federal Register.

H.R. 1388 was passed, behind our backs. You may want to read about it… It wasn’t mentioned on the news… it just went by on the ticker tape at the bottom of the CNN screen.

  • 45caliber

He tied a couple of things the GOP wanted to this bill – such as reduce the cut to the doctors on Medicare – and then demands that they vote for the billions to help out the unions and states like CA. We helped out CA once and what happened? They ran up their deficiet again, expecting to be bailed out again. And the people then insisted it would never happen. Right.

  • angel-wanna-be

Yeah, 50 Billion to bail out Union Jobs!__We can’t let the Democratic voting base, suffer like the rest of us, now can we?

Itsounds good. It feels good (duh, it must be ‘good’). Unfortunately, it’s more progressive theory from the Incompetent-in-Chief. Once again (like it will ever end when a progressive is around), we are expected to endure the whims of an utterly incompetent organizer who probably can’t take out the trash by himself – let alone ‘run’ the country.
His INACTION in the Katrina-like oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico PROVES that he doesn’t think anything through, as this nix on drilling will LAY OFF THOUSANDS of people (oh, how he ‘cares’).
This twit doesn’t care about reality. THIS, people, is what he really means when he DARES to talk about HOPE and CHANGE. He is so inept, he is so incompetent, he is such a horse’s asset that I have to conclude that he’s a willing tool for unseen puppet masters. What else can it be?
He’s already outCartered Nuts Carter. He’s out-duhhed Clinton. His presence in the White House is nothing less than a curse. Maybe we can work out a trade with ET or a Third World country. ANYONE almost has to be an automatic improvement over this LOSER. Progressivism doesn’t work, and it’s doing a damn fine job of costing America even MORE JOBS!

The only way the majority of people will get mad and wake up is when they lose their entitlements, it’ll be to late by then. it’s okay to lose your freedom, but not the free money. we’re being played like a cheap violin.

    • JC

I’m reminded of Nero (read: The Kenyan) playing the violin as Rome burned.

      • Al Sieber

A matter of time and the Gulf could burn.

    • George E

You’re probably right, but I am encouraged that a lot of people are beginning to understand that government’s debt is so large now that it’s going to cost everyone a lot of money in new taxes and reduced benefits. That’s a start. It’s still not too late to save this country, but if we don’t stop the insane government spending soon, it will be too late. As soon as most people get on the government’s payroll, we’ll find ourselves in the same shape as Greece, California, and New York; ie, more non-productive workers than productive workers, and the non-productive workers are voting themselves more and more benefits and pay on the backs of the dwindling number of productive workers. If government was a business, it would go out of business very quickly doing things like this.

      • JC

You’ve just described how socialism is a “melt down in the making” everytime it rears its ugly head.

  • jonathan garza

i find it funny that it is teacher, police officers and firefighter that obama will fight for. what about janitors who work for schools? my dad works for fort wayne community schools. he is getting laid off because of budget cuts. they school board is outsource the janitors jobs. plus it isnt a company base here in america. why is obama only interest in saving teachers? because they gave him money. plus he got the most money for goldman sach, and bp. funny how that is not being mention anymore by the media. wonder why?

    • Jana

      jonathan,
You are so right. Let’s not use American companies after all we Americans don’t need jobs. We need to help every country out there and even become like them. Just like in Louisianna they are bringing in people from California to do the clean up in the waters off of the coast of LA. Why not hire the people from that state who have the equipment already there? What is it with these people?

And you know that this company that is being hired to replace your relative at that shcool is going to cost more than he was being paid.

  • http://eachstateretaliate.blogspot.com/ Tea Party Tim

Why not lay off some of (correction all of) the Czars? Some of the personal assistants for Michael could probably go.

How about having all lobbiest “donations” be made directly to the US treasury instead of the politicians?

Why not renogiate the government contracts that allow multiple pensions for one person from multiple governement agencies?

Wow! It might be a novel concept, but how about working on a solution to the problem instead of looking for ways to throw more money into it.

    • http://www.realcolorwheel.com/ DonJ

      You are so right on.

  • James

Dumping 50 billion unearmed dollars into the economy is pure inflation.

    • George E

I believe you are correct especially if the government prints this money. That just devalues the currency all that much more (inflation goes up while the value of the dollar goes down). If they borrow the money, it will simply push the government closer and closer to default. It’s taking all we can do now just to pay the interest on the monumental debt we already have, and unless the government drastically cuts spending (especially, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and national defense), it will go into default within the next few years, regardless of all the tax increases they are planning. So, the bottom line is the government is planning to take most of our money in taxes of one kind or another, and will probably still have to make major cuts in these programs anyway. That’s pretty much already “baked in.” Can you imagine what that will do to the economy? Permanent recession/depression/stagflation here we come!

      • http://www.realcolorwheel.com/ DonJ

        You said,
I believe you are correct especially if the government prints this money. That just devalues the currency all that much more (inflation goes up while the value of the dollar goes down). Ok, here comes our rub..
Social Security is not costing you anything, it makes money in its own account. Put it back in its own account if you want to do something good, but I don’t think that is what you do. Your a “demoralizer”. I say “Bring the troops home, audit the Fed and put S/S back in it’s own untouchable account.”

        you continue..
(especially, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and national defense), it will go into default within the next few years, regardless of all the tax increases they are planning.

        and my finish…
I hope I made my point about S/S. Perhaps you want to go into this in more detail. I think it is a point that more people should know about.

S/S was making money and it still would be if it were back in it’s own account again. People paid into S/S willingly and it worked guaranteeing their retirement. I think it was President Johnson who changed our course and stole the S/S money by changing where the untouchable money was to an account were it was assimilated.

      • Claire

Social Security would have been just fine, but the administrations kept getting into it and using it for their agendas. They were the thieves. They kept taking the money and didn’t put it back. This was NOT their money to use. It was the Americans’ money.

      • http://www.realcolorwheel.com/ DonJ

Exactly Claire, I don’t usually go after old money but they took so much. Can we get any of it back? If I remember right they gave us IOUs. Can’t we at least put the new money back into its own account again? Would that be the congress that would do that? We get our own Congress person to start an amendment or bill or whatever that will cover it.

      • Claire

Don–I would talk to my congressmen but they are worthless. Remember, I am in Illinois. The capitol of corruption.

      • George E

        Don,

You’re correct about Social Security in that if all the money we’ve paid into SS were actually set aside that program would be self sufficient. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. The money went into the general fund and has been used to fund other programs as well. In other words, SS has become just another way to get more tax revenue from US citizens. When one looks at the size and expense of the various programs the federal government is supporting with the tax revenue it gets, SS is one of the largest. This just tells me that we can, and probably will, see some sort of “cuts” in this program in the future because we can’t sustain the overall debt that the government has created. I don’t want SS to be cut either because I collect my check just like many others do. But I do think we will see some sort of cut-backs starting within the next 5 years, probably starting with dropping COLAs, and increasing the retirement age for younger workers. Before this happens, I just hope we’ll unload the program from all the free-loaders, including illegal immigrants, before we start cutting back on those of us that have paid into the program for many years.

      • Claire

Don and George E–I know so many seniors from church, work, neighbors, etc. that rely on SS. Several of them have fallen on hard times because of their kids, and two couples are now raising their grandkids. I have said before that sometimes during a lifetime people have “hard knocks” through no fault of their own and were unable to save like they should have. It is the way the ball bounces sometimes. Some are fortunate while others are not.
When SS started, it was a good program. And I believe it was started with good intentions. However, like I said before the dang administrations could not keep their hands out of it. It was like a cookie jar to them. They never put back the money they took from SS. They were thieves. I don’t know if there were IOUs or not. Seniors should raise heck and demand that they put back all the money they took. The only problem is, the government has no money. And like it was mentioned, you can’t keep printing money with nothing to back it up. What a sorry state of affairs.

      • James

DonJ, Whether the $50 billion is just blips on a computer or is printed up, doesn’t alter the fact that it is unearned money, and doesn’t contribute anything to the economy. The government would borrow this money, at interest, from the federal reserve, and that would become part of the national debt. The only way the government can repay that debt is to tax the people. The national debt is the people’s debt. That is, people who would be receiving this federal handout, would have to pay it back, with more taxes. All of the federal government’s income comes from its power to tax.

  • JC

    FIRE UP THE PRINTING PRESS!
The Kenyan is once again moving forward with his plans to destroy the American economy for a long time to come. AND when we are unable to pay back all these paper “tickets” there will be war.
And we’ll know who the enemy is.

Yes we can yes we can Zeig Heil Zeig heil…

    • Al Sieber

Couldn’t of said it better. I don’t think they ever stopped the printing presses. war is looming on the horizon, it can happen anytime now. this president believes his own lies. but hell, lets keep the printing presses rolling.

  • http://www.recovery.gov/Pages/home.aspx Mondovibe
  • http://MicrosoftOutlook Cathy

$50 billion would go a long way toward helping the small businesses in this country, but Obama wants to help the public employee unions who helped elect him. The states need to get rid of more of these people and get private sector jobs in place. The taxpayers are fed up with the salaries, pensions and benefits these public employees are getting at our expense. All you have to do is look at New Jersey. Governor Christie is taking on the teachers’ union, and more power to him. We need more governors like him.

  • spoonerist

Just think this one through briefly. Essentially, the people in many states are saying “NO” to increases in state and/or local taxes, so budget cuts become necessary. Then the politicians try to apply the reduced spending and budget cuts to areas where they will get the most pressure for increasing taxes again — jobs. Now, if the federal government supplies money to the states to make up for this “shortfall”, they are effectively using everyone’s money (from taxes) to make up for the tax increases that people had chosen not to accept. So we get taxed anyway, even though it has been rejected. These bastards will stop at nothing.

And since every government job that is created destroys 1.29 real jobs, we would be better off if the people who lost their government jobs because of budget cuts did not have their jobs reinstated by this type of “bailout”, because for every government job that they lost, 1.29 real jobs will eventually materialize in the real world economy.

    • JC

It’s a hamster wheel alright. It’s based on slavery…on the notion of working you to death.

  • Raggs

We all know where this money is going to come from… our grandchildren since only 46% of this population has a job now. So what happens next year when this happens again and the next and the next? ALL unions need to be dismantled people have came to depend on them way too much just like the welfare system medicare and social security that is collapsing… Any government ran program is doomed to fail.

    • http://www.realcolorwheel.com/ DonJ

Lay off the S/S Raggs, it’s not in the same boat. S/S was making money and it still would be if it were back in it’s own account again. People paid into S/S willingly and it worked guaranteeing their retirement. I think it was Johnson who changed our course and stole the S/S money by changing where the untouchable money was to an account were it was assimilated. That and auditing the Fed is why Kennedy was killed.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        DonJ,
Not everyone paid in willingly. I can remember working doubles six days a week to make ends meet. The little that they took out would have helped. I didn’t have any choice in the matter and by the time I turn 65, it wont be there. By the way, that is only six years away for me!

      • http://www.realcolorwheel.com/ DonJ

        Joe says,

The problem isn’t with S/S Joe. It makes money for us the recipients. It’s with those that allowed the money to be removed from it’s account and to be legally stolen by our own government.

This can be fixed it enough people know about it.

      • Claire

Donj–I am going to check into this somehow.

  • Harry M

This is what happens when government holds itself “above” the people they are supposed to represent. When we have such high levels of unemployed out looking for work in the private sector, we have Barak (I never could refuse to print more money) Obama seeking to save government jobs. Perhaps its time to let government loose a few pounds, trim up and represent the people instead of themselves. Unfortunately our children and their children will not understand the financial implications of all this until they are of the age to be paying for this administration (and past administrations) economic indiscretions. These guys are no worse then snake oil salesmen and women.

If we cut the pay of police and firemen they will walk off of their job. The firemen in my hometown get paid $10-$11 dollars an hour. Thats not that much considering how much danger and risk to life they face at work. I know some “overpaid” police officers who have to take a second job to feed their families. Let’s get real here. Think before you act.

      • http://www.realcolorwheel.com/ DonJ

Your right Samural, they should be the last to have pay cuts.

The first should be others working for the government. Didn’t I read where the government employs over half the population and that they are the highest paid salaried people in the country? I’ll bet there are a LOT of waste jobs that can be completely removed.

Teachers “tenures” have to go. Curriculums for students are being manipulated in a dumbing down direction. God is being removed from the public. Term limits have been defeated by the ones effected.

Yea, we have trouble, just check to see who’s suggesting that firefighters, police and teachers get cutbacks and you will see who the troublemakers are.

Tom, he gets it alright. This is deliberate and calculated. Don’t underestimate the underlying agenda at play here.

      • Jerry

        JC,

I agree that this is the implementation of the Cloward-Piven strategy which “seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.”

“The real goal of “health care” legislation, the real goal of “cap-and-trade,” and the real goal of the “stimulus” is to rip the guts out of our private economy and transfer wide swaths of it over to the government to control. Do not be deluded by the propaganda. These initiatives are vehicles for change. They are not goals in and of themselves except in their ability to deliver power. They and will make matters much worse, for that is their design.”

Read the full article at: http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/11/clowardpiven_government.html

    • Jana

      Tom,
I agree with you. Let him and his staff and our Representatives take a pay cut. Instead they have all had raises this past year. Our Reps automatically get them each year, and Obama gave his staff a raise as well this year. All this man and Congress knows how to do is spend.

Federal employees make the highest wages around. If they all took a 15% paycut it would help. Plus the Reps have how much for an expense account? Too much as they use it frivelously. Now Nancy Pelosi has just moved into a new office in California that only costs $18,700. a MONTH. That is only for one of her offices. But be of good cheer it’s supposed to be green energy so its going to save us money. Now that makes sense HOW?
When our household gets low on money we start budgeting heavily, even if that means eating beans and rice for 5 out of 7 days. Even at times have we done that and had cabbage stew the other 2 days.
If we the people can be responsible enough to enact a budget in our everyday lives, these supposed lawyers and Community organizers should be able to figure out how to cut back too. We need to make them be responsible. Write, call and let them know what we expect them to do.

  • Jim H.

My property taxes pay for teachers, firefighters, and police. They haven’t gone down. If they could afford it last year, they should be good this year. When states want more money they go straight to threatening teachers, firefighters and police as the “only” way to go. If the state and local governments are that inept at budgeting all this money will do is enable them to still be inept. It will not solve the root problem. More of “our” money poorly spent.

Obama is a disappointment but the right is not without idiots, too: Note below. What are they thinking, or are they? The likes of Bachmann & company diminish the conservative message by their antics. Why are the smart conservatives being so quiet?

When BP CEO Tony Hayward testified before Congress this morning, many expected to hear him apologize for the disaster his company has caused. Instead, GOP Congressman Joe Barton was the one saying he was sorry — to BP.

In his opening statement, Barton, the top Republican on the committee overseeing the oil spill and its aftermath, delivered a personal apology to the oil giant. He said the $20 billion fund that President Obama directed BP to establish to provide relief to the victims of the oil disaster was a “tragedy in the first proportion.”

Other Republicans are echoing his call. Sen. John Cornyn said he “shares” Barton’s concern. Rep. Michele Bachmann said that BP shouldn’t agree to be “fleeced.” Rush Limbaugh called it a “bailout.” The Republican Study Committee, with its 114 members in the House, called it a “shakedown.”

Let’s be clear. This fund is a major victory for the people of the Gulf. It’s a key step toward making them whole again. BP has a responsibility to those whose lives and livelihoods have been devastated by the disaster. And BP oil executives don’t deserve an apology — the people of the Gulf do.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Hugh,
I don’t know where you got your info from but it is incorrect. the repub commitee gave him such a scathing rebuke that he recanted his appology and said that it was his and his alone and that his choice of words were wrong. He flat out said that the fault for this disaster lies on BPs shoulders alone!!!

      • JC

I watched Obama’s politburo run their kangaroo court on BP’s CEO Tony Hayward today. he’s already admitted responsibility and he’s already committed 20B for starters to clean up efforts. Now why can’t these self serving, self aggrandizing pinheads let the man get on with his job which, right now is to stop and clean up a disaster.
Nope they all have to get their face time in front of the sheep, so they can run more socialist crap on us later.

      • Claire

JC–Barton was an idiot. And yes, the Repubs got after him. Like you said, forget this crap and get the oil leak fixed. My gosh, that should be first and foremost on their minds.

      • Rebecca G

I think this is designed to side-track the people of this country. By putting on this inquest, it takes the burden off of Obama for not doing a darn thing to do the right thing on the oil spill.
Obama assigned NASA to the Toyota mess–why couldn’t he do the same with the oil spill? Or does he want to do anything because if it wasn’t the worst thing to happen then he wouldn’t be able to stop the US from drilling for our own resources and then who would we depend on??? One guess! The Mid East would hold are the cards in the next war. It is that simple. The BP problem occured within weeks of the announcement that Obama said that we could drill off shore in the Atlantic. See any connection? Forget the environment–drill in the desert. West Texas could use the employment–why not look there. We don’t have to go off shore to drill, but if we don’t drill, we could put us in a bad position. As history tells us, the UK wanted the US to enter the war because they knew we had the oil resources and could help them win against Hitler who no doubt would have taken Britian if the US had not joined the war. We NEED the oil–by the time we have another resource of energy for our military, it will be too late!

      • Ed

Most of what you think you know about the Bush administration has been force fed to you by the MSM and a group of politicians, mostly in the House who so far as I am concerned committed one act of treason after the other during the Bush term in office. When Obama wrote: “The lingering economic damage left by the financial crisis we inherited has left a mounting employment crisis at the state and local level that could set back the pace of our economic recovery”, what he should have written was “The lingering economic damage I have caused thus far . . . pales in comparison to the damage I intend to do to this country”. IMPEACH – OMG

  • SANDRA

Next it will be can you spell “SPAIN”? That’s where we are headed if he jams “Cap & Tax” down the taxpayers throats.

    • Richard Pawley

Sandra, it is Congress, the House and the Senate, who pass all these laws that are destroying the dollar and eventually our economy. Already the trillions Congress has spent in the past decade is going to cause the cost of food and fuel to eventually triple when the temporary deflation ends and the big inflation begins. We have one chance to slow this down and that is not in 2012 but this fall. It is NOVEMBER OR NEVER!

      • Claire

Richard–Although I do not approve of Obama you are absolutely correct in what you have posted.

    • Greg

      IMPEACH IMPEACH

      • http://www.realcolorwheel.com/ DonJ

You are so right Greg. We must act now, not wait until Nov. Look what just got passed. He is out to destroy us. Look at his latest xecutive order. Impeach him now, that is your duty.

Something happened yesterday… H.R. 1388 was passed, behind our backs. You may want to read about it… It wasn’t mentioned on the news… just went by on the ticker tape at the bottom of the CNN screen.
Obama funds $20M in tax payer dollars to immigrate Hamas Refugees to the USA. This is the news that didn’t make the headlines…
By executive order, President Barack Obama has ordered the expenditure of $20.3 million in “migration assistance” to the Palestinian refugees and “conflict victims” in Gaza .
The “presidential determination,” which allows hundreds of thousands of Palestinians with ties to Hamas to resettle in the United States , was signed and appears in the Federal Register.
Few on Capitol Hill, or in the media, took note that the order provides a free ticket replete with housing and food allowances to individuals who have displayed their overwhelming support to the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the parliamentary election of January 2006.

Now we learn that he is allowing thousands of Palestinian refuges to move to, and live in, the US at American taxpayer expense.
These important, and insightful, issues are being “lost” in the blinding bail-outs and “stimulation” packages.
Doubtful? To verify this for yourself: http://www.thefederalregister.com/d.p/2009-02-04-E9-2488

      • JC

Importing sleeper cells. Great! Arm yourselves to the teeth people. You may be very glad you did.

      • Rebecca G

Thank you DonJ for letting all of us know that Obama is bringing in his people from Gaza and we are paying for it. They don’t have to hide and worry about over staying their visa any more….they can work against us from the inside out to destroy all that has been built by our forefathers for liberty and freedom.
Things are alot worse than I thought. If we don’t wake up soon, we will lose all that is dear to us: FREEDOM.
So we bring in hostile parties from Gaza, we pay for it, and they want to rid the world of US? It is crazy!

  • Raggs

    Can you spell “GREECE” ?

This is the same problem that had started the downturn of Greece.
Too many pensions of retired union workers that bankrupted the system.

And now obama wants to “bail-out” the unions in this country.
I can see why obama wants to bail them out being they are the ones who got him elected at the expence of the taxpayers.

obama’s corrupt tracks will soon lead back to him.

    • JC

We’re actually in worse shape than Greece. And Greece is facing the possibility of a complete meltdown, meaning civil rioting, shortages, even martial law.
And all the Imposter can do is keep pushing us closer to disaster.

  • http://burgerd@kearney.k12.mo.us Dwayne B says

This guy is dumber than Ja-Ja -Ja Jimmy Freakin Carter.

    • Airangel

You can’t just keep giving bailout money without changing the infrastructure of organizations and how they spend and operate. You also have to have conditions with how the money is spent and check points for being fiscally responsible or else they’ll blow through this too and be begging for more and more and more! Trim the fat, invest in what matters and STOP THE FRIVOLOUS SPENDING!

      • http://PersonalLibertyDigest Randy

They have to keep as many people employed as possible till the November elections so they won’t lose as many seats as they might if people see how badly Obama and the ‘Democrats’ have failed in restarting the economy, especially the government employees. People may forget, but Bush inherited a two quarter recession from Clinton and for his first two quarters the media was on him mercilessly about all the jobs that were being lost after he became president. After his first two quarters, a one year recession, Bush started adding jobs to the economy and by the end of his two terms had created even more jobs that the Clinton years. Bush’s economy didn’t start heading south until twelve months after the ‘Democrats’ won majorities in both houses of ‘Congress’ on his second mid-term election, exactly a year before Obama was elected President. People also forget that Clinton’s first two years as President were also a deep recession which we only came out of when his first mid-term elction was won by the ‘Republicans’, in both houses of ‘Congress’, who then passed their ‘Contract with America’ that turned Clintons economy around.

    • Ernie

No, he is not dumb. In fact, his agenda is right on track. If you think he wants to fix things, you’ve got it wrong. With chaos and crisis, he can turn the US in the dirction he wants. If there are more Guv’ment employees, they will march in line behind SEIU to keep the money flowing to them (from you).

People keep thinking he wants to fix the US (in they way it always was), but he doesn’t. He needs to destroy the US economy and capitalism in order to build his Utopia. He’s right on track.

      • http://none Sharon

Well now Ernie must be part of America that is walking around like a zombie as yet since Obama took office – just wait until all of the big spender’s bills take effect and watch the public try blaming the Republican Congress (who will have taken over Congress by then) for all of Obama’s big spending and that 10 TRILLION dollars in debt he thus far hss tallied up! Get smart Ernie!

      • JC

Sharon, I think you may have misread Ernie’s intent.

      • Claire

        JC– No kidding.

      • http://naver samurai

Sharon, I do think that you have missed the point. Ernie is trying to say that the current administraion has to destroy everything that makes America what it is, then install his own version of government. Socialism, marxism, etc., do you understand what he is say now? I do agree with what you said about his debt of up to 13 trillion dollars he has racked up since coming to office. This needs to be nipped in the bud. Remember, November isn’t that far off and your vote does count on these matters. Get the word out, send flyers through the mail, set your websites on fire with the idea of getting people to vote and do their patriotic duty of voting them out of office. Remember: “I will not take any chances. A single grain of rice can tip the scale. One man (vote) can mean the difference between victory and defeat.” For God and country!

      • Claire

samurai–You were nice to explain. I guess I was being a smart a$$.

      • Rebecca Gilbert

I always thought it was one man one vote until the other day when I heard what a district in New York had decided. They have given 6 votes for every registered Latino because there are so many illegal Latinos that cannot vote and it is only fair to balance it out and give all these illegals equal representation! I’m appauled at the very thought that this can be done in this country. Where is the mass media when it comes to protecting our rights as Americans! Afterall, we are Americans and anyone else should come to this country by the laws and foundation of our country and not through some back door. B.

      • http://PersonalLibertyDigest Randy

Obama’s plan is to change our country into a third world economy so we will be on the same level as his Islamic masters and then won’t be able to support Israel, as we are their only ally in the world. We are their ONLY ally, and just think what will happened when we won’t or can’t give aid to them. Obama, Hillary, and all the ‘Democrats’ are trying to find excuses right now not to support Israel and Obama has even increased support to all Islamic nations that we’ve helped in the past. Exactly what are our priorities now that Obama is making his ‘Change’ that he promised us if we elected him, does anyone really know? Doesn’t look good from where I am standing.

    • Patty

I love the way he (Nobama)keeps telling everyone that the money is to save jobs. They are all public (gov’t. employee) jobs that he is saving. None are private sector jobs. The only thing he is trying to save is his voter base and he is doing it on the backs of the private sector.
A very large % of the stimulus money that WI rec’d went to prop up the teachers their retirements and the union.
