Report: Hispanics leaving Arizona in droves Arizona’s recently passed immigration bill has prompted many Hispanic families to leave the state before the controversial law goes into effect in late July.

While state authorities have yet to release any official statistics, many schools and businesses have indicated that a large number of legal and illegal residents of Hispanic descent have packed up and left Arizona in the last few weeks, USA Today reports.

Jeffrey Smith, superintendent of the state’s Balsz Elementary School District, told Fox News that 95 students have left the system since the law was signed by Governor Jan Brewer in late April. In contrast, only seven children dropped out of the district during the same period last year. More than 75 percent of Balsz Elementary School District students are Hispanic.

Smith noted that the majority of migrating Hispanics—both legal and illegal—may be headed for a neighboring state where immigration laws are less strict.

"The statement is something like New Mexico is the way Arizona used to be," he told the news source. "I heard one lady say she might go back to Mexico."

Brewer’s spokesman Paul Senseman said last week of the exodus, "If that means that fewer people are breaking the law, that is absolutely an accomplishment."

I no longer eat in restaurants nor do I buy commercial meats of any kind. Occasionally my daughter brings home a local chicken but, otherwise, we go vegetarian. And one has to be careful about that, too.

We had a contract worker die here from TB on our work site. They hauled him to the hospital. It was days before they found out the problem. When they did, they tested all who had been exposed and found five people had contracted it. All these diseases are on the rise in the US when at one time they were almost gone.

Interestingly enough, when the company wanted to issue a warning about TB and other sicknesses coming into the US, the government warned the company not to do so. It would violate the civil rights of the illegals since people might not want to hire them.

My son works at Tyson’s in Arkansas. He said that they will pay a $1000 bonus to any illegal if they can rather than hire local. The main reason is power. If management wants them to work 7-12′s they have to. Americans can argue about it. He also said the American workers can always tell when the INS is going to visit that day – all the illegals stay home from work. Some time back the INS didn’t call ahead and tell Tyson’s. They caught a lot of them and fined Tysons. They argued in court that they shouldn’t be fined because the INS didn’t call them first as they had always done in the past.

One of the other reasons they like illegals there is injuries. ALL more dangerous jobs are done by illegals such as cutting up the chicken with knives. If they cut themselves, they are taken to the hospital – and then Tyson calls the INS and reports an illegal worker. The INS then picks up the hospital cost and Tyson doesn’t have to worry about the insurance for them.

Arizona’s so-called immigration law is not that at all. The citizens of Arizona wanted to put a stop to the hordes of criminals coming across the border that put their lives in danger. Since the Federal government would not enforce the law, Arizona passed a law to make illegal entry to the US a violation of Arizona law as well so that its law enforcement authorities could enforce federal law LEGALLY. This was not racist. However, Hispanic activists from around the country supported strongly by those in the US illegally, invaded our state accusing the citizens of Arizona of racism. They paraded in our streets dictating to the citizens of Arizona what laws they were allowed to pass and what they were not, for their own protection yet. This campaign was strictly against blocking a legally enacted law that would result in arresting Hispanic criminals, not criminals of other races, that is blatantly racist. No wonder it has now stirred up racial prejudice. Can anyone imagine hundreds of thousands of American citizens pouring into Mexico and parading in the streets against laws the Mexican government has enacted against drug cartels because the laws allow for the arrest of American criminals as well.

In most parts of the world where law enforcement cracks down on criminals, the criminals flee to areas of lax enforcement. This tight law enforcement is not called racism except by Hispanic and political activists in the US. Perhaps these people should READ the US and Mexican Federal laws and the Arizona law and then ask themselves what their motivation is to pick on citizens of Arizona. It’s racism pure and simple. By the way these invading criminals kill more Hispanics and take more jobs away from legally resident Hispanics than any other race. That’s why many Hispanic friends of mine support the law.

Great news! And funny as hell. The very same people who tried to subvert this law by fear mongering and misrepresenting it to the public (Holder. Obama and the rest of the Politburo) did Arizona the greatest favor of all. They told everybody that this is a draconian law and will lead to indiscriminant document checks and mass deportations and criminals believed them! Can we say there is a great lesson here?
By the way, I do not believe that legal immigrants are leaving, unless they are in business of transporting illegals. That would make sense, you go where your customers are.

The only difference we can make is at the LOCAL level. There is at least SOME accountability at that level. If it is as dirty there as it is here, it will take people to actually question the constitutionality of what is being done. Start somewhere!! Last eve a census worker came to my house (4th time) to get me to complete the form. I told him I reported the number of persons living at my address, and that was all I was going to answer. He said that the dept. told him that “refusal is not an option”. I asked, “by what law?” He couldn’t answer.

I invoked my right to remain silent.

We actually had a nice conversation. He was a retired cop. He understood where I am coming from.

I have always been courteous and friendly, but simply held my ground. I realize that the info they want is readily available, but they are testing for compliance. I failed the test, and it may come back to bite me, but we must draw a line in the sand or we will lose all.

BTW, I asked the census guy (he was a supervisor in the dept) what became of the GPSing of all of us.

He told me that the gov’t purchased 600,000 GPS hand-held GPS devices, and spent millions on workers going around house to house, and it ended up a mess. Coordinates were wrong, the devices gave faulty readings…they threw it all out. A total waste of our tax dollars.

At least, this was the story he told me.

When we don’t complete the census form and mail it back, they hire people to follow up by going door to door. This situation has created a few jobs in a sense, however, we as taxpayers are paying for it. I filled mine out and mailed in back within a few days. They do the census every 10 years, why should this one be different?

Claire, I loosely but correctly did my census and they called for more info than was on it they said because of the “kids” staying with me – like I have groups of them on a regular basis like foster care was the intonation; then there was knocking on my door cause there are two empty cabins on my land, I answered ‘they are two empty cabins’ – he seemed happy but called for more info on those two empty cabins last week or so. Today I walked up to the cabins – I had just been there two days ago – and each empty cabin had a new census sticker on it to please call them. I think not. I think I’ve done enough.

Part of the argument for illegals is that certain services and goods would be hurt, that agriculture would suffer, etc. The question is, are you willing to have less of certain services and products? My answer is yes, because it is the right thing to do. The goods and services that aren’t economic will adapt or fail. New services and goods will appear. That’s free enterprise.

It brings up the larger question about government services. In the states teetering on bankruptcy, every bond or tax issue is presented with the idea that it is cruel to make cuts. In my experience, a lot of what America is about comes to the surface in these situations, and more often than not, the new service or product is on a better footing!

I am all for what Arizona has done. All states, not some, need to adopt this plan. I have no problems with foreigners being here. I have a problem with them being here illegally. They exhaust our school system and not to mention our health care system. Workers now in some states are being furloughed because the state has no money. Why is that? While, it is getting increasingly difficult for Americans to get jobs, adequate health care, and retain their housing; these illegals come here and get medicaid, section 8 housing, a job, and live like a king. Isn’t it so ironic that illegals can rent an apartment or house through the system, while Americans lose their houses. ICE needs to get tougher also, and recognize that there a lot of bogus marriages in the country. Come up America, step up. Let’s take our country back. If we are supposed to be the super power of the world and police other countries, we have to start policing here at home first.

You should care about foreigners that come here legally. That is primarily what has happened to us. They come here from mostly socialistic and muslim countries so when they vote, well you are now experiencing it. Steve, it used to be the law that one had to show ID to vote. The dems claimed it was discriminatory and had it replaced with the “motor voter” law, which allowed anyone, including illegals, to vote without having to show ID.

Now, any sane person would know that if someone had no ID, they shouldn’t be voting. But the democrats have to rely on the homeless, uneducated, mentally impaired, illegal and dead to stay in power.

The Texas State Legislature expects that photo ID will be the big topic next session. We have more GOP than Dems and the people want this. Last time we had something like this come up, the Dem members all went to NM to get out of the state and prevent enough members to make a quoram for voting. Personally, I still don’t understand what Washington does not understand about the value of protecting our borders. That is actually supposed to be one of their primary functions. In 1968 the Air Force Academy published the THREE rules of takeover of the US writen by the American Communist Party about 1925 or so. The ACP said that the rules were still active in 1968.

They were:

1) Destroy the ruggedness of the American people by concentrating their attention on spectator sports and sex. (football, baseball, etc.)

2) Take control of the news media and use it to prevent the population from knowing what is going on in their legislative halls and tear down the image of any natural leader the people might wish to follow. (Does Palin’s attention by the media come to mind?)

3) Disarm the population through gun control.

Actually, here in Texas, we’re considering stocking it with alligators. We can use some from here and Florida, thinning them out where needed, feed the alligators for free, and then harvest them for food and leather. A Win-Win situation all around.

The influx has already shown an increase here in Texas. Especially with Austin being a safe haven. lol. Arizona is on its way to a full recovery. We have several Native American tribes in Arizona that will benifit from the illegals leaving in a variety of ways. And will make Arizona sucessful.

I read this in the Phoenix Business Journal as they were talking about New Mexico taking conference meetings away from AZ. There have been segments in our culture that has turned it’s back on AZ over this. AZ has thought about fighting back with refusing to sell electricity to California. Although i completely agree with you on what you are saying about past presidents deporting thousands of illegals to make jobs for returning troops they did not put Japanese Americans in camps for that reason. The reason they put the Japanese in camps was because they were unaware of the immediate danger because of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Many rumors at that time were that Japanese “dignitaries” were in the US after the attack so the reason they put them in camps such as the one at the Pomona Fairgrounds in Pomona, CA was not because of immigration but because of the attacks on Pearl Harbor.

Gregg, I realize the reason as to why they were rounded up and put there. My argument was that trying that today with all the political correctness would set the bleeding hearts off like a raped ape! Everyone knew back then that Japan was an enemy that intended to destroy us and so didn’t put up to much of a gripe about this being done.
Was there a potential spy in that group that would have changed the outcome of the war? Who knows, but doing it insured that there was litle chance of any one in that group doing harm to the U.S.

I received this as an email. I am not sure who really wrote it, but it is still relevant. It is supposed to have been written by a legal Mexican immigrant.

“If you had tickets to a sports event, concert, Disneyland , or for an airline flight, and when you got to your assigned seat you found someone else was in that seat, what would you do? You would call for a person in charge of ticket checking and have the person in your seat removed. You would properly be asked to show your ticket, and you would gladly and proudly do so, for you have bought and paid for that seat. Now it seems very strange to me that so many people in the other 49 “sections”, and even many in our own “section” do not want tickets checked, or even to be asked to show their ticket! Even the head of Security is chastising us, while not doing his own job which he has sworn to do.

My own ticket has been bought and paid for, so I am proudly going to show it when asked to do so. I have a right to my seat, and I want the gate crashers to be asked to show their tickets too. The only reason that I can imagine anyone objecting to being asked for their ticket is that they are in favor of gate crashing, and all of the illegal activities that go with it, such as drug smuggling, gang wars, murder, human smuggling for profit, and many more illegal and inhumane acts that we are trying to prevent with our new legislation. Is that what I am hearing from all of the protestors such as Phoenix Mayor Gordon, US Rep. Grijalva, even President Obama? If you are not in favor of showing tickets, (proof of citizenship, passport, green card, or other legal document) when asked, as I would do proudly, then you must be condoning those illegal activities.”

Joe H–Funny!!! My ire? Naw. Never. lol I have lived in Illinois almost my whole life, I know the reputation for corruption in this state. The decent and honest people never run for an office in Illinois. They wouldn’t get elected! Heaven forbid if we EVER had an honest person in office here!! It will never happen. I voted for a Republican in the primaries and he turned out to be a real idiot. Now the other one tells all kinds of lies about himself, won an award, was in the service, you name it! Kirk is nuts. And Brady wanted to kill animal shelter dogs and cats inhumanely. I realize not all people are animal lovers, but this tells me a lot about a person’s character in many ways.
The Republicans in Illinois are RINOS, they are just as pathetic as the Democrats. I would run for office but I don’t have the money and besides I wouldn’t be elected, I’m too honest. To get elected a person has to have the backing of the politicallly corrupt machine.

i couldnt have said it better. if all these people were legal tax paying citizens, then it would be a different story, but as i say, if you are not a U.S citizen then you do NOT deserve U.S rights. im not a political person because the american citizen has no say with washington. thank goodness for jan brewer. taking us back to the day when we can say were proud to be standing up for something.
