The National Rifle Association (NRA) will be holding this year’s Annual Meetings and Exhibits, which it calls "a celebration of American values" at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, N.C. from May 14-16.
The organization estimates that some 70,000 visitors will attend the event, which it says will "provide a safe and fun atmosphere the whole family can enjoy."
Leading firearm manufacturers will be on hand to display the industry’s latest products. There will be hunting and shooting accessories, and an extensive private collection displayed by NRA-affiliated gun collector clubs will cover acres of convention space, for a total of 400 exhibits.
On May 14, the NRA will hold its Celebration of American Values Leadership Forum that will feature prominent speakers from across the country, including Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour; former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton; former Governor of Alaska and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin as well as television and film actor Chuck Norris.
The event comes just weeks after the release of a new Violence Policy Center study that says the NRA and other members of the gun lobby "are embracing and validating anti-government rhetoric."
