Schumer Asks Arizona To Give Congress Time To Create Federal Immigration Law

Schumer asks Arizona to give Congress time to create federal immigration law In an effort to quell the political storm surrounding immigration reform in Arizona, Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) sent a letter to Governor Jan Brewer last week, asking her to delay the implementation of the new law for one year so that Congress can put together an all-encompassing Federal plan.

In the letter, Schumer commended the governor for taking action to address the nation’s "broken immigration system," but also said that he opposes the legislation "because it is wrong-hearted and is likely unconstitutional, but also because it will almost certainly fail to reduce illegal immigration into Arizona," according to Fox News.

Brewer has yet to respond to the senator, who is currently the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Border Security and Refugees.

Meanwhile, President Obama last week reaffirmed his commitment to Federal immigration reform, asking Republicans and Democrats to work together to create a bill by the end of the year.

His remarks, delivered at a Cinco de Mayo celebration at the White House, contrast with some earlier comments that he made regarding immigration reform. Obama told reporters that "there may not be an appetite" in Congress for pushing through another bill by the end of the legislative year.

    Not No, but hell no. I would suggest that she tell him to keep his nose out of Arizona’s business. Give them another year to let another 500,000 dummycrat votes across the border and perhaps hundreds or thousands more tons of drugs, kidnappings, rapes and murders. No thanks. I think Arizona should hire a fleet of 18 wheelers to haul the illegals to New York, Massachusetts and other states who are doing all the complaining.

      I live in Arizona. I think and have thought the best solution to the problem of the illegal crossers is #1 – Stop that practice of where the bleeding hearts leave water jugs and shoes in the desert for the travels into this country illegally. They don’t want them to “die” in the desert when the weather gets over 120 degrees. @2 – The “La Cucaracha’s” have to be made to stay on their side when they are taken back. They wait for the bus to leave, then walk through the fence again. We ought to put down buried bombs that are foot sensitive. So the thrill of coming back up here, isn’t a decision anymore. The decision has been made period.

    Put Schumer The Yutz to the test. Tell him that in the name of ‘diversity’ and being a ‘caring’ norte americano,’ he will have to ‘adopt’ at least 12 illegal aliens (complete with a truly diverse background that includes drug abuse and violent behavior), and those 12 will have to wear electronic ankle bracelets while they’re living in HIS house.
    The idea that an elected official would dare to ASK another state to ‘wait’ shows the depth and breadth of Schumer’s STUPIDITY. Uncle Scam and his elected retards created this intolerable problem.

    —, Schumer! Federal laws are already on the books, ENFORCE THEM and stop giving illegals $30,000 per year in food stamps and section 8 vouchers! That is more $$ than the average working American person earns each year, thanks to you, your liberal buddies and our commander-in-chief (would rather play with soldiers then LEAD this country as president, so says he and the media, anyway)!

    Arizona does, in my opinion, need to change the law. They need to add these 5 suggestions:

    1. K-12 children who have parents that cannot proove their residency MUST pay out-of-state tuition for their children. Kind of like Nevada kids who want to cross the Arizona border and go to school there, instead of Nevada. Arizona already has such a law. Now add it to include parents who cannot prove their residency in the USA, or in Arizona. Of course, this would empty Arizona schools, because the parents would never show up to prove their residency, and the State of Arizona would save billions in the cost of educating their legal children!

    2. Any person applying for state benefits must pass a drug and alcohol test, prior to receiving benefits. Add litmus paper and guns (like the cops have) at the counters of all state agencies who “dispense” benefits/money to people!

    3. Children under the age of 18, cannot sign papers giving federal or state benefits to their families, if the parents are illegal. This will run the illegals off, also. If my kid can’t join a music club because of his age, why should an legal kid who’se parents are illegal, be able to apply for state and federal benefits!?

    4. Every state has a “john’s law” to curb prostitution. Institute a “juan’s law” that targets people offering for sale goods and services on street corners, that do not have business licenses, contractor licenses, and solicitor’s licenses!

    5. Force all employers to E-Verify their employees, to include the guy next door who hires illegals from street corners. Make the fine $5,000 per employee and from 6 to 24 months in jail to employers who do not comply!

    Let me know when all of these laws go into affect. I am an elderly, 100% disabled, brain damaged, Viet-Nam, combat veteran. I fear for my life every time I walk out my front door. Last year, when I was going through chemo, a gang of little kids, 5 or 6 years old, ran around me in circles at an ATM in Las Vegas, and because I have no sensation in my crippled right hand, did not know they snatched my ATM card and receipt. I had already put my $$ in my pocket and did not know I was a victum, until I got home, thinking I had put nthe card and receipt in my pocket, also, prior to leaving the ATM, pparently, due to my short and long term memory loss.

    I am single and looking for a new place to move to, so I can spend the remainder of my life in peace and quiet and without the fear of being robbed, beaten, or burglarized!

    I’d rather give my $$ to Arizona businesses who comply with the law, then to live here in Las Vegas, to businesses who do not.

    Why am I living in Las Vegas? I used to live 325 miles away, in Nevada, where there were no health care providers. The county has 5,000 people there and my town only 125. I was forced to move to Las Vegas when I got sick and was disagnosed with cancer from Agent Orange while serving in Viet-Nam.

    Because the VA has not yet approved my claim for cancer from Agent Orange (it is one of the illnesses already associated with the exposure, but they are dragging their feet and have already refused my claim 4 TIMES!) I am one step from being a beggar, and two steps from being homeless!

    My only income, now, is a 4th equity mortgage on a home I have not lived in for 5 years. You know what that means! Only time will tell.

    I thank God every day that I have a bottle of scotch and a loaded revolver, waiting for the time that I will no longer be able to take the pain, or fear, anymore!

      God Bless you brother! If you were in the Cleveland area, I would do everything in my power to get you help. As it is, I can only tell you to contact the American Legion and tell them your problem. I know quite a few vets they have helped and prodded when the VA dragged their feet. I too am a Viet Vet and I wish you nothing but the best and though it won’t mean much, I welcome you home!! Thank you for your sacrifice to us all!

    The question ought to be whether “illegal immigration,” (i.e., entering the country illegally) is unconstitutional. Apparently, only a law can be unconstitutional. What determines whether a law is unconstitutional, whether people have the ability to obey it or not?
    Some constitutional guarantees (the securing of the blessings of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness) for citizens have been violated by “illegal immigrants.” Does not the government of the U.S. have a moral and legally-binding obligation to, to the best of its ability (admittedly a fallible concept), attempt to fulfill the propositions of the Constitution for its citizens, to the necessary discrimination against, and exclusion of, non-citizens from those rights, privileges and blessings that appertain particularly to citizens? If not, what is the point and benefit of citizenship?

    The only reason for that “Chuck-U Schumer” letter is to buy more time and prevent the self-repatriating effect of this legislation on illegal immigrants. This will give the dems more time to count these illegals in the on-going census, earn more congressional district for open border crowds and they win! I say, make the law stronger. Impose a staggering fine on those who employ illegals, eliminate the anchor baby provision in the constitution and these people will get the message. We are a sovereign nation and I am tired of people coming here and then try to intimidate Americans to accept their illegal behaviors. And I am tired of weak-kneed politician who refuse to represent their constituents-the American people but rather would pander to prospective constituents who never bothered to learn what it is to be an American; tired of Hispanic Americans who seem to be Hispanics first and Americans only when it is convenient for them; and finally, I am tired of my fellow African Americans who fail to realize that a wholesale importation of a new minority will further the democrats agenda of keeping our people in perpetual poverty and push us further down the rung.

        many unanswered questions. Too many.
        I’ve got lots of constantly evolving theorys. Most of them involve Intelligence working hand in glove with Arab intelligence assets.
        Most of these so called terrorists are doing what they do right here in the Western World. This stuff isn’t coming from the Middle East. There may have been camps in Afghanistan, but the planning is done in the West. I read something from a journalist that uncovered that.
        So if this is coming from the West, I wonder if they are nothing but proxys for those who pull strings, perhaps in the various Western intelligence agencies.
        This is not at all unheard of. We did train and back the Afghans covertly to fight the Soviets in the 80′s.

        As for vaccines….I cannot say for sure that they don’t work in all cases. They do seem to protect pets from rabies. But I have never had a flu shot in my life. And I never get the flu.

        I would think some microwave radiation or perhaps a strong electromagnetic field might destroy the chip if implanted?
        Maybe not. Will have to find out how they are made.

    Stick to your guns Governor!!!! Congress is now and has always been the problem. Any fix by them will only make things worse. Their fix would open the flood gates even wider. We should adopt trhe tough Mexican laws! If found with out proper documentation equals arrest, imprisonment and deportation! If Congress is serious they would immediately change the anchor baby rule.

    As usual the Obama and company are just trying to stall for time. If Brewer tells Schumer politely NO, the the intimidation and threats will start. Obama will ratchet up the rhetoric and the threats as he goes and there will be nothing going on on the Federal level towards immigration reform. Next thing we’ll know is suddenly Obama will proclaim amnesty, and blame it on Brewer! I just hope Brewer sticks to her guns, oops can I say that, or does that make me a terrorist? She’s not going to back down to a New York Fascist, that’s for sure!

    It’s should be quite obvious, now, that the federal government has no intention to defend our borders against those who enter illegally. The Arizona law simply states that that State will help the federal government enforce our immigration laws.     “probably not Consitutional”. Considering the Arizona law is almost word-for-word what the federal law states, perhaps he means that the federal law isn’t Constitutional. In any case, I don’t believe our Founding Fathers intended for us to HAVE to take every person in the world who wants to come here, including everyone’s criminals.

    He wants Congress to “fix” this problem? His method is simply to give everyone amnesty and then open the borders to everyone who will vote liberal.

      I forget the exact words, but they said everyone was welcome if they were honorable and would follow the rules. Seems the ‘illegals’ are neither.

      All countries have border protection and require ID. Why not the US?
      We have been too lenient to illegals. Clinton signed the federal law
      13 years ago. It was tested by the Supreme Court many times, and found to be fine.

      All the distractions of racism and more laws are crap.
      Washington needs to enforce our laws. That is their charter.
      If they don’t want to, then let them leave like the rats they are.

      There was something that happened in the 1980′s that was called the meriel boat lift, where who ever in Cuba wanted to come to America could. Jimmy Carter opened his arms and said come to America. He played right into Castros hands. Castros’ regime went to all the mental hospitals, jails and prisons, loaded up the trucks and back them up to anything that would float. How’s that for getting rid of
      a drain on cubas economy. And the ones that came over sent $$$ back
      to cuba. Also not to mention all the criminals and medical needy that
      we had to take care of. We contribute to Mexicos economy. The money
      the illegals get that isn’t taxed does not get spent over here, it gets sent back to mexico. Thats why the mexican govn’t doesn’t care
      about keeping illegals from coming here.

      There is somewhat of a danger in excessivley mixing the spiritual world which we cannot see with our world that we can see. The trouble comes when we begin to believe we see things that are not really there.

      When you start to sound like a fruitcake, and keep mentioning the Bible, Lucifer, ect, all the time when describing THIS WORLD, do you think you may be turning off some that may have a potential interest in joining a religion maybe?

    If Brewer is Chairman of the Border Security WHY has he not done some thing about the problem yet, it is because he had no problem with the illegal immigration, he turned a blind eye to the problem and has the nerve to ask for more time. I SAY NO, we will take care of our selves.

        Greetings Jan.

        I was born in Phoenix and although I do not live there now, I am wholeheartedly behind you on the 1070 bill and forcing the feds to do their job and secure our border.

        Do not back down and as for Schumer and his request to give them time to craft more laws, he can get screwed. The feds have had many years to enforce our existing laws and they have refused to do it. This is nothing more than a ploy. We don’t need more federal laws. We need them to enforce the immigration laws we already have. Believe me, many of us know that the bill 1070 does not say or do anything that our own federal law does not already say and is designed to mirror our immigration laws that we already have.

        My ex-wife is mexican, my youngest son was born in Mexico and we lived there for 2 years before finally getting all the paperwork done so my ex-wife could legally come to the US plus all the paperwork I had to go through to get my son declared a US citizen born abroad. It is a slap in my face what our government has done and continues to do to it’s own citizens everyday. It is going to get to the point where normally law abiding citizens will no longer put up with what is being done to us and take things into our own hands and take up arms either against people crossing the border illegally or against our own government or both.

        The country was founded on revolution and just because it is the 21st century and not the 1700′s does not mean it cannot happen again. There are many people that are ready to defend our borders and our constituion. This does not make them some fringe group as many would have so many believe. This sentiment is festering in our country and if our government does not stop what they are doing and get back to doing what the constituion says and defend it, and start listening to the people, people WILL rise up again to get our freedoms back and maintain the American way of life.

        I and many others support you and stand beside you in your fight to protect our borders. Do not lose faith and don’t give in.
