Very interesting. Not done with it yet, but I assure you I will read it in its entirety. While I can already see that the author is leaning a bit further in the direction of broad-brush-stroke labels than I would prefer myself, I understand that is sometimes necessary when describing abstractions like political theories. So be it – as long as one can distinguish between a theory/label and an individual – a skill which is increasingly rare in our current state of political affairs.

I’m encouraged to see a favorable treatment of free market solutions. Even China understands the necessity of free markets – without them socialism implodes under the burden of its own self-induced economic demotivation.

Anyway, I will certainly read it, and I welcome any legitimate discussion that is based on ideas deeper than:

Actually, I’m enjoying this article quite a bit. Haven’t had time to check all the facts, but lots of really good points are being made. That said, I have noticed I could equally substitute “Liberal” in many of the places where it says “Conservative”, and it would read the same.

The moral of the story is simple. By reducing enormous, complex, and interrelated segments of society into hopelessly polarized and opposing viewpoints (each nicely categorized with a label to be spoken with either reverence or contempt), those who would divide and conquer for their own purposes will continue to destroy this nation.

Personally, I’m sure Marx actually believed his own words (after all they sound GREAT if you just change the labels, right?!!), the problem with implementing the theory of Marxism is simple: once you centralize power to the extent required to pull off a Marxist utopia, that centralized power will be concentrated in the hands of too small a group, who will soon become very aware of this fact and start to abuse said power (can anybody say Stalin?). It’s really a very nice theory, but the implementation details are a real b-tch (with my pre-emptive apologies to canines and feminists).

No thanks – I’m sort of nostalgic about this whole “democratic republic with a Constitution” thing, and I won’t stand quietly by as it is destroyed from within, in the name of bringing about some bullsh-t utopia that is not likely on this planet, if history is to be believed (as opposed to being re-written, also an Alinsky communist technique).

I don’t mean $ figures, but by receiving a silver star, bronze star, and two purple hearts, fighting for this country. I’ve known soldiers that have paid the highest price for it, their lives. samurai, FYI- I went through my pre-induction physical in Oakland, CA on June 2, 1969…classified 1H, wasn’t drafted. My right elbow was pretty much destroyed when I was 7 years old. My arm is fine, but I don’t and will never be able to have full extention, basically a “crooked” arm. I was only minimally handicapped by it, just never had great arm strength when it came to throwing, push ups and pull ups. I adapted and developed tremendous forearm and shoulder strenght. The 1H designation meant I would only be called to serve in case of a national emergency.

I use this site as a teaching tool for my grandchildren and niece and nephews. No cusing here, and they get to view what hate looks like and how it functions like an angry dog pack. I make them do research to prove statements wrong and to recongize that people will make things up to advance their beliefs. You all assume that if someone disagrees with you, they must be unemployed, on welfare, a minority, non Christian, un-American, socialist, liberal. Did you not read our history? Carol, on this site we don’t critize for grammar or spelling errors, although most of you conservatives like to bash people for that. Does it make you feel superior??? Not all people have had the advantage of obtaining a college education from those liberal universities that you all attend and then complain about, so in practicing what this country stands for, everyone has a voice and should not be demeaned due to not having that liberal education. I’m a good example of a conservative with an education level of “some college”. I grew up poor, and went to grammar school in poor neighborhoods. However, I had parents that made sure I finished my homework, brought home good grades, and made sure I learned the language of our new country (they were immigrants…came here “legally”). What a novel idea! Learn ENGLISH!? I’ll bet money, Sam isn’t an immigrant, nor the child of immigrants. Just another, “oh, poor me” person.

My father never lost his accent, but that didn’t stop him from communicating and excelling here in the U.S. My mother’s primary language was English before immigrating, but only had a 3rd grade education. That didn’t stop us (the children) from excelling. We all made good grades, and learned the language well. We also read, write and speak our first language well.

To all the above: I have admitted repeatedly that I am a lousy speller and don’t have spell check active on my computer. I don’t ever critize anyone for misspelling anything. You are confusing me with someone else that you have tagged a liberal. I did tell Palin how to spell the liguor she was going to purchase, so that she wouldn’t get ripped off, but that is about it. I made comments to those who correct others, while they show that they aren’t perfect either. Hyprocrisy drives me nuts, so I would never attack someone for not spelling correctly. I will however defend the person who is being attacked, even if they have a different political view. Sticking my togune, tounge, wait have to look it up…tongue out at you!!!lol

Well Sam, I admire your determination and resolve, but why is it going in the wrong direction? Here this administration passed healthcare on people that most Americans DID NOT WANT. Many democrats have retired or will lose in this years elections because of it. He has caused our national debt to reach record historical levels and has recently said that no matter what you do to us, we will not respond with nukes. He even put the creation of more jobs on the back burner for this. Don’t forget, this bill will cost you a lot more money every month, 16,000 new IRS agents to back up paying into it, and a new HEALTH CORPS who will be nothing more than a civilian paramilitary force to enforce it. Many states in the Union have filed injunctions in federal courts to stop it, as it is a violation of the 10th Amendment and an Americans right to freely choose. I can’t tell you how to think or vote, but I think you’ll be very disappointed come November!
