Schumer And Graham Immigration Proposal Garners Praise, Criticism

April 6, 2010 by

Schumer and Graham immigration proposal garners praise, criticism The bipartisan immigration reform proposal unveiled recently in a Washington Post editorial has been applauded by minority groups, but despite pledged support for the system’s overhaul Republicans remain unimpressed.

Drawn up by Senator Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), the framework proposes four pillars for comprehensive immigration reform, including strengthening the country’s border security and interior enforcement; implementing a tough but fair path to legalization for those who work in the United States illegally and pay back taxes; creating a process for admitting temporary workers and requiring biometric Social Security cards to hold employers accountable for legal hiring and employment practices.

Among the supporters of the proposals was the Hispanic National Bar Association, which stressed its commitment to a comprehensive reform.

However, Republicans are divided over the issue, with many fiercely opposed to any program to give legal status to illegal immigrants. Workers’ rights advocates have also declared themselves unhappy, saying the third pillar would make it easy for those who earn graduate degrees in technical fields to get green cards, but would exclude low-skilled workers from the program.

Last month, more than 200,000 people from across the country gathered on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., to demand comprehensive immigration reform during the 111th Congress.

It’s because all this hate that more and more countries in the world hate us everytime more, don’t expect to be welcome in other countries.

    • marvin

to jack martinez , first i don,t give a rats ass what your other countrys think about we the people, and as for illegals building just look at the country were most illegal come from,, drug dealer and crooked goverment have bank rup mexico sounds like that is what you want here we have more then enuf poor here now, that can not find a job but with your obama thinking thats ok

  • Jack Martinez

The problem here is that once more,we don’t want to deport them but at the same time we don’t want to legalize them,it’s the American way to do things.First, serve our country and them, keep working but with no documents.Who have built freeways, roads, houses, clean our shit, inside and outside houses, let me tell you,it hasn’t been afroamericans or whites, get real people, all what we want is to keep all this people suffering for years,in the american way,
God bless America,in GOLD we trust.

  • Raggs

Isn’t Cali making pot legal going to give yet another reason for illegals to enter this country?

    • JC

I wouldn’t think so. What prompts you to ask that question?

  • Jeep

Let’s see…in California the prison pop is about 14% illegal. And, to add insult to injury, 1 out of seven of the most violent will be back in prison (after being deported) within a year. It’s a great system! In fact, ICE has so many problems they can only track down the most violent offenders, others that are caught are given a “notice to appear”. How many do you think follow that?

In 2007 the CBO reported that illegal immigration costs Cali “tens of billions of dollars” and “the tax revenues that unauthorized immigrants generate for state and local governments do not offset the total cost of services provided to those immigrants.” Further, “we give illegal immigrants reduced and often free higher education not available to citizens, a job, a home, a mortgage, free healthcare at any emergency room and, if they commit a crime, we let them go.” Since it pays so well I might even become one!

    • Raggs

And so your solution is to implant all legal citizens…
While the illegals continue to live the american dream.

      • Jeep

Once again, my friend, can you not see sarcasm? Relax…These are facts to counter the argument that illegals are all here to “find a better life”. No, they have riff-raff tagging along, and I haven’t heard from our esteemed congressmen the plan to deal with this part of the equation.

      • Raggs

        Sorry Jeep….. I get your meaning…..

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Raggs,
Calm down my friend, Jeep is dead set against illegals the same as you and I!!!

      • JC

Raggs, obviously you are vehemently against chipping and more power to you. Just keep the shotgun handy and relax. ;)
It’s ok to let someone draw a little satire on the subject as it may help some to see what insane scenarios await the world if they start chipping (trying to) people.
Maybe we could all just wear a sign around our necks instead…like the Jews wore the Star of David in Europe in the 40′s.

    • JeffH

approximately 30 percent of the inmates in California prisons are illegal aliens, or “documented criminals,” if you prefer PCBS.

The cost of incarcerating these “good hearted, hard working” criminals amounts to about $1.4 billion a year (not including related law enforcement and judicial expenditures or the monetary costs of the crimes that led to their incarceration.)
      http://newsblaze.com/story/20070428100949lill.nb/topstory.html

      • Jeep

JeffH, you may be closer at 30%, I was referring to an internal Cali report. And, citizenship is not a question asked of those incarcerated in Cali jails. So, these are all best guesses. Of course, since my reference was done in Cali it was probably written by an illegal immigrant anyway!

      • JeffH

        lol!

Some people got a Raise, I DID Not …

I will send this out every month until election time, just as a reminder. If everyone remembers, we can make a difference.

GRRRRRRRRRR….! I’m MAD AND YOU SHOULD BE TOO!

Your U.S. House & Senate have voted themselves $4,700

    and $5,300 raises.

    1. They voted to not give you a S.S. cost of living raise in
    2010 and 2011.

    2. Your Medicare premiums will go up $285.60 for the 2-years and you will not get the 3% COLA: $660/yr. Your total 2-yr loss and cost is -$1,600 or -$3,200 for husband and wife

    3. Over 2-yrs The House & Senate each get $10,000 raises

    4. Do you feel SCREWED?

    5. WILL your cost of drugs – doctor fees – local taxes – food, etc., increase? You better believe they will!

    WILL THEIRS…NO WAY
. They have a raise and better benefits. Why care about you? You never did anything about it in the past.
You’re obviously too stupid or don’t care. No offense; just making a point!

    6. Do you really think that Nancy, Harry, Chris, Charlie, Barnie, et al, care about you?

SEND THE MESSAGE — You’re FIRED.!!!

IN 2010 YOU WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO GET RID OF THE SITTING CONGRESS AND Up to 1/3 OF THE SENATE, AND 100% OF THE HOUSE.

MAKE SURE YOU’RE STILL MAD IN NOVEMBER 2010 AND TELL THEIR REPLACEMENTS NOT TO SCREW UP.

It is ok to forward this to your sphere of influence if you are finally tired of the abuse.
    Maybe it’s time for the……..

    Amendment 28
“Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United
States that does not apply equally to the Senators or Representatives,
and Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators or
Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the
    United States .”

Let’s get this passed around, folks – these people in Washington have brought this upon themselves!!! It’s time for retribution. Let’s take back America.
If you don’t forward this to all your friends you’re just part of the problem of national apathy.

  • http://www.oldwestnovels.com paullt

I’m with you Raggs. Lock and load the chip is coming. Take away all freebes and the illegals will go home. Insist on English only in our schools!

  • val piano

The pin heads Scumer and Graham need to be put in a mental ward. Kick ALL these illegals out NOW. When we kick them out, kick out all the bleeding hearts that want them to stay also. I bought a boarder patrol hat, WOW does that work when you walk into a mall.

  • Airangel

We have to start somewhere because the bickering back and forth is getting us no where…deport current illegals that are drug lords and criminals…we don’t need them…those that are working illegally in companies, legalize them, get them social security cards to PAY THEIR SHARE OF TAXES and collect BACK TAXES to catch them up for all the free housing, medical and educational assistance BUT secure our borders from future illegals and moving forward hold companies that hire them accountable and make them go through proper processes to legalalize everything…I’m not against anyone trying to better their life and their families…only when it steals taxes from the American tax payers that pay for all the free assistance and subsidizing in which the illegals don’t contribute to. I also don’t support any known criminals. They need to be dealt harshly with such as gangs and drug rings causing stench in America…the drugs traffiking and slaving across our borders has to stop!

    • babybikerbabe

I tend to agree, they’re here so why not. Okay.

      But NO VOTING RIGHTS.

Citizens vote, criminals don’t. Let us create a new “class” of immigrants or resident aliens who can work, pay taxes, use the systems but STILL have to follow the rules to become a citizen. You know, learn the history, take the oath….. agree to follow the laws…. THEN they can vote.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        babe,
I’d like to add that they don’t get any services of any kind as well!!!

      • eyeswideopen

JoeH, do they get services after a specific number of years? Or after they become citizens? Is the fine a flat fee(set amount) or is it based on wages? Do you charge them for SS and Medicare taxes? That would be against our present laws, so what would you do?

      • liza durango

You have got to be kidding me– every anchor baby dropped on our soil, is immediately signed up for welfare,ie General Relief checks and Food stamps, their kids get free lunches in school. Every time the mother gets pregnant again, she is giving free pre-natal services clinics, her delivery costs are fully incurred by taxpayers, and she gets post delivery freebies like baby milk, diapers etc. all at taxpayer expenses. Then her children grow up with an attitude, get sick and require more free hospital ER visits funded by taxpayers, then one angry child joins a gang and gets shot which requires tons more money in ER services to fix his poor shot up body. ALL AT TAXPAYER’S EXPENSE. OH, and by the way –to those of you who THINK ILLEGALS ARE NOT VOTING, YOU ARE DEAD WRONG. The SEIU AND AFLCIO organizers make sure they tell everyone how to vote — including the swelling ranks of those working with fruadulent ID’s. All you need is a FAKE driver’s licnese and FAKE SS to get your voter registration form and VOILA you can vote. This is actually encouraged by Spanish speaking groups– I’ve heard it firsthand and it is widely reported in areas like Texas, Arizona and California. WHY? Because the Latino community believes America belongs to them and there are no borders and that all humans beings are legal. Therefore our laws and Constitution are invalid. They SAY this at there Immigration Reform Marches and in their literature. Since no laws exist they will abide by, voting as an illegal doesn’t bother them in the least. They see it as their duty to vote out RACISTS politicians that represent Americans who don’t want illegals in the country! WAKE UP!

    • marvin

Airangel you say make them legal ,make them pay all back taxes ,and all what about the babies we payed for them to have and to school them and for ever dollar an illegal makes it cost tax payers 6 more so by your way of thinking we make them pay all back taxes and fines and pay all past and present medical bills and we are talking about mostly uneducated poor people that have nothing so how in the hell are they going to pay .by having more kid so they can vote for more liberals and put more american worker out of a job ,amnesty will not work has not worked ,and will only get more of the same the law is clear on this no documents[illegal] arrest detain deport not hard to understand is it

  • Jeep

In some states you can be arrested for traveling 20 mph over the speed limit. But, you know, a lot of people do it. So many, in fact, that we cannot catch them all. So, I think we should stop trying to enforce that law. We should give motorists a break since it costs so much to enforce the law, and really the one or two accidents they cause is not so bad. We will have to “chip” the drivers that have been caught so we will know that they are allowed to speed. And, because this may encourage other drivers to join in and drive faster, the “chip” will also separate the original speeders from the new, or never been caught before speeders. Now all we need is for an endorsement from AAA, and we are all set!

    • Raggs

      R-U-CRAZY?

Who gives the government or the state the right / authority to “CHIP” anyone?
I am not cattle owned by you or any entity of any branch of state or federal government.

      • Jeep

Raggs…take it easy! This was all said with my tongue firmly implanted in my cheek. Just an absurd illustration of the absurd “three pillar” idea. Besides, if you don’t speed you won’t need to be “chipped”! Just kidding!

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Jeep,
I was laughing like hello at your post!! SATIRE is most excellent!!!!

      • Airangel

Amen Raggs…chipping humans would be another violation or our rights…oh but wait….our Government doesn’t care about the Bill of Rights or our Constitution…we definitely need New Blood in the White House 2010!

      • marvin

you are right Raggs LAST TIME I LOOKED i was a citizen not a subject of the great and all powerful goverment

    • http://naver samurai

What does this have to do with immigration. Can we stick to the subject at hand?

      • Jeep

Sam, you cannot think outside the box? Notice that my “pillars” mirror the “pillars” proposed by Chuckie and Lindsey. Notice how silly my “pillars” sound, and how silly their “pillars” sound…Get it yet?

Maybe I need to find a new place to post…You guys just don’t get sarcasm.

Sarcasm – (noun) 1. harsh or bitter derision or irony. 2.a sharply ironical taunt; sneering or cutting remark: a review full of sarcasms.

      • JC

Oh I got it right away. Probably think a bit like you do.
        Keep posting.

    • Jeep

Did you guys really think this was a serious proposal? Sheesh…

      • JC

Not unless you work for FEMA! LOL

      • Jeep

FEMA (Flippin’ Evidence of Mismanaged America)! The greatest govt organization that cannot do it’s job ever! Hmmm…maybe I’ll go to work for them…just a thought…

      • JC

Sure Jeep, You could get a job babysitting one of hundreds of FEMA detention camps that are completely empty and ask yourself, why are these here? ;)

      • eyeswideopen

Jeep, when you play with their emotions you give them the opportunity to take your comments and spread them through out the community. Soon they will be quoting you and saying we are chipping for speeders. No laughing allowed, but I was busting a gut. Very funny.

  • eddie47d

Time; Never heard of 15 million immigrants being deported in America during the 50′s. Sounds like a real stretch even if there is any truth to it. Who cares if anyone stands at the end of Home Depot and is willing to work. God bless them.

    • barb miller

eddie47d – go to yahoo and type in operation wetback. they did it with less than 2000 agents but had the help of local police too. their children are u.s. citizens, but why are we letting their entire families become instant citizens? they can take their babies with them or leave them here for americans to rear.

    • eyeswideopen

eddie, it was 1.3 million. Common sense tells you that if Reagan granted amnesty to 3.2 million in 1986, and from then until 2009 the total only got to be between 12-18 million,( that is a 23 year period of time) So, therefore, when Truman sent 2 million back after WWII to give our Vet’s jobs, how could the immigration have crept up to 13 million in just 9 years??? They apprehended 50k in one location and 80K in another and over one million fled in fear. As usual the people on left are using faulty information again. I lived in Texas and there is a handbook that states the very totals of 1.3 million.

  • eddie47d

Don’t worry Jim H.;There are plenty of legal American Citizens stealing your idenity. Most credit card abusers are suburban kids doing it for the thrill or “normal” folks going into bankruptcy. Most immigrants legal and illegal are too scared to break the law for fear of deportation. I’m sure there are a few who should be deported but most should be given a path to citizenship.

    • http://naver samurai

We are a nation of laws and do not reward law breakers.

    • marvin

in two words eddie47d BULL —

    • Jim H.

Eddie, I guess if Americans are breaking the law too, we just shouldn’t do anything about ILLEGAL immigrants doing it. It’s a good thing your here to set me straight( sarcasm). As far as giving the illegals a path to legal citizenship, there is a proccess already, they just chose not to bother. MANY do take the legal route, through the front door and they are welcome.

    • Jeep

eddie, gang investigators in Virginia estimate that 90% of the members of MS-13, the most notorious immigrant gang, are illegal immigrants. I guess you would consider MS-13 a benevolent society of law abiding citizens.

  • Raggs

    I will say this much…
The first bastard that trys to place a micro-chip in or on me will regret it!

    • JC

I have a .45 that says I won’t be getting a chip. A value I am passing on to my children and their friends.

  • Michelle

Immigration reform needs to start with securing the border – and not just talk about it. Without a secure border the problem never ends. Rewarding people for breaking the law is wrong, and these people knew they were breaking the law. Those of you that do not live in Arizona do not understand the daily problems of illegal immigration. Our houses have lost value, crime rates have risen, our schools cater to learning English instead of teaching children of citizens the basics (that is why Arizona ranks 51 in the country in education – yes last!), you can’t find a job unless you speak Spanish. Signs & billboards are written in Spanish only – you got it – no English on them. They collect benefits – like free health care. They get paid cash for jobs they do and then send the money to Mexico. That is the tip of the problem. Granted a road to citizenship for breaking the law must be stopped. Secure the border first and deport. Send a STRONG message that entering this country illegally will not be tolerated any longer.

    • http://naver samurai

Let’s start by sending troops to our border. The Governor of Texas has already done that, but this administration nixed it. So much for being safer under this administration.

      • barb miller

governor perry of texas can’t send the national guard to the border without permission which was not given. however, he can darn sure send the texas guard and has NOT!! he wants the hispanic vote. station a soldier every 10′ across the border and shoot anything that moves.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution

THE HART OF OUR PROBLEMS IS OUR POLITICANS ARE MONEY HUNGRY !!!!

As a widow of a military retiree, who stood with her husband for over 20 years while he served this country (which was the greatest in the world until this Congress and President took over), I have to say I agree. Shirley

As a retired military man that have given over twenty-seven years of my life to my country, I truly feel that what this
Country needs most is a new amendment to the Constitution . I am recommending that we add the 28th amendment to the Constitution of the UNITED STATES.

For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that Congress members could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they didn’t pay into Social Security, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that is being considered…in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn’t seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don’t care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop.

This is a good way to do that. It is an idea whose time has come.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:

“Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Congressman, Senators and Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Congressman. Senators and Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States”.

This 28th amendment to the Constitution of the UNITED STATES Will apply to all passed, present and future
    congressman, Senators And Representatives.
Just think of all the money this would save the tax payers!!!!!

I think the Senators, Representatives or Congressman that comes out strongly for this will be our next President.

HTCM USN Retired James A. Graham E-Mail address is ( jagraham@charter.net ) Please forward !!!!!!!

    • Michelle

Great comment – I agree. Let the Congress live with the laws they pass. Maybe they would actually read some of the bills!

    • William Nealey

I am in total agreement on the 28th amendment, but we all know there aint a man or woman in washington with BALLS enough to introduce such a bill,

    • Jerry Mobley

      James A Graham;
I agree with your sentiment, but I would simplify it by only stating all laws passed by Congress are in effect for everyone living in the United States and protectorates. No Exceptions!!!

    • http://victorbarney@embarqmail.com Victor L Barney

I’d like to see somebody such as the Tea Party get on board to push the government into making such an amendment. This Amendment move within a large political organization would make me feel more confident that it may get done!

    • James

James A Graham, I like that, here’s a more simplified version:
“Congress shall make no law, concerning their welfare and retirement, that would apply to them exclusively, and all such past laws are hereby repealed.”
Also I think a good slogan for future elections, would be: “When in doubt, vote ‘em out!”

  • http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/H1B_GO_HOME/ H1B_GO_HOME

We need to stop feeding the cockroaches. This country is in the worst economic predicament since the Great Depression partially due to the policy of dumping massive quantities of cheap foreign labor to distort the labor market. Combined with “free trade agreements” that are designed to benefit international bankers and insider cronies these policies are not only destroying America, but dragging down every other country’s economy in the process. Check out this link:

H1B, you are right, NAFTA and GATT was the beginning of the end for this country. It proves that Bush Sr. really believes in the “New World Order”, and didn’t mind sacrificing middle class America.

      • tedcrawford

It was bill clinton that signed NAFTA not J.W.Bush!

  • http://n/a JOHN B.

Sounds like a good solution since the problem can not be eliminated, it certainly needs to be corrected and getting illegals registered and documented and paying their fair share is the most logical thing to do. If we have neither the means nor the will to deport them all, making them a part of the system and having them pay is the next best thing.

      • American liberal

Bikerbaby… Except for the fence and scarey sign I agree with the rest of your post…we have to have a logical solution.. So we agree there… The fence and sign wouldn’t scare off a illegal bird… Until we enforce the laws aginst hiring illegals this amnast question will just comeback every decade..

    • http://naver samurai

Sorry dude, but just them being here is a problem. Remember laws are set up for our protection, safety, and should be obeyed. If they get sent home with nothing, that’s OK. Think, they came here with nothing.
As Robin Williams once said: “If you don’t like it there, change it yourself and don’t come here.”

  • Mark

Senator Charles E. Schumer and Senator Lindsey Graham are self licking ice cream cones.

  • American liberal

The republicans only idea was nonsense… A fence ?… Anybody really think that’s a solution?…

    • babybikerbabe

Yes – a fence – with a HUGE sign – in English, Spanish, Arabic, French, etc… – that says:

ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK – THIS LAND PROTECTED BY SMITH & WESSON, AND GLOCK, AND SIG SAUER, AND REMINGTON, AND SO ON.

But no one will do that because we “care”. So legalize all the criminals but NO VOTING RIGHTS. Take their money in taxes, let them “work” the system – BUT NO VOTING RIGHTS. Citizenship is a right for those who follow the rules and obey the law. These people are criminals and it doesn’t matter why. There are a myriad of paths to obtain citizenship, green cards, corporate sponsorship and sanctuary for the seriously oppressed. Just because they’re here does not change the fact that their very presence is ILLEGAL. Wake up people.

I love immigrants who come here for the opportunity that is “America the Land of the Free” and learn to speak English and become part of the melting pot that formed this country. I encounter them daily because I live near a large University. They remind me why America IS great and I love them for it.

Follow the rules, learn the language, EARN your right to be a citizen.

      ‘Nuf said.

      • American liberal

Nonsense…. You really think a fence and a ” scarey” sign will keep illegals from just climbing over the fence…. Excuse me while I’m laughing….

      • JC

An electric fence combined with watch towers and sniper’s might work a little better. Seemed to work in Berlin anyway.

    • David

Who needs a fence. If we put a daily limit on hunters; i doubt we would have any trouble. Then maybe they would come through the system the proper way if they really wanted to come here for the right reasons.

      • del

I couldn’t agree more. I am thinking ten a day is a good even number!

    • Bruce Baker

{A fence!?} It was about 99% effective for the East Germans for about 20 years, and they were trying to keep people IN!

  • American liberal

The plan in this artical would weed out the immigrants that are productive to our country and expose those that aren’t….. We should tighten up our border security and start enforcing our laws … I don’t have any doubt that some republicans will be against anything that comes from or during president Obamas administration….at some point the laws aginst hiring illegals must be enforced or we will find ourselfs in an illegal immigration circle….. I salute the Obama administration for taking this issue on… The last administration just ignored this issue

    • marvin

TO AMERICAN LIB this is the same obama bunch that has j nepolitano saying that being here undocumented [illegally]is not illegal go figure and the same that said are borders are secure now we can give amnesty and that the governer of texas don,t need the national guard he ask over a year ago and the same ones that put obamacare on us now they want more illegals made legal that is a slap in the face of the ones that have stood in line for years

      • eyeswideopen

marvin, first you don’t want government to interfere then you are mad that they haven’t spent the money to get more patrols. You think it will be easy to get the repubs to go along with funding more money for immigration enforcement? They didn’t want to do it when they were in power for 12 years and I bet they fight any change to the laws again.

  • Carl McGinnis

I wonder how many of the people apposed to reform know how much we are spending to detain and deport immigrants now. It’s a huge expence. I was not aware of it until a friend from Paris France was arrested for a mistake his American wife made. She is addicted to prescription pain killers and she gets them from a Dr. but also buys extra off the street. She has lost everything, no drivers license, no job, no health insurance and in the process of losing there home. She has been arrested twice since he was detained and has spent all his savings and closed there joint accounts. She is a mess. He is detained and fighting deportation at this time. He has been in a private prison for 9 months now. He has paid 27,000 in legal fees and expenses. But we the Government, Have paid the private prison our hard earned tax dollars for many months, and he has done nothing wrong. He has never even had a traffic violation and he is 51 yrs old.She should be in rehab and jail. I feel he should be released and allowed to work. He has a double masters degree in finance and was working on his PhD here in the United States. He was legal, never undocumented, had nothing to hide. But because of ICE, Mr. Obama, and Janet Napolitano. He is costing us thousands, We all would be better off to let him out, let him work and pay taxes like the rest of us. The republicans don’t want to spend money, but in this case they are spending plenty, He has asked to be released but the private prison called Broward Transitional Center near Miami Florida makes a lot of money to keep him detained. The prison is owned by a company called GEO and it is largely owned by Ex vp Dick Chaney…….now you know the rest of the story! It’s all about the money! Shame on America.

      Carl,
You know, it’s real funny, this is the second time I’ve heard this story and you aren’t the one that told it before!!!! I’m not a real big believer in coincidence!!!!

Send that bill to George Soros. He’s a caring kind of dude. Of course, he can also afford it. If Soros isn’t in the mood, send the bill to Obummer. Of course, if Obummer tries to pay fo it with a check, it will probably bounce. In that event, send the bill to any group of 20 ultraliberal progressives in Congress. They’re filthy rich, and I’m sure they’d be happy to pay for it, and “solve” the problem.

    • eyeswideopen

Carl, so you think ICE just started with Obama? I see, sorry, I forgot, he is responsible for all our immigration problems that the previous administrations going back to 1986 didn’t enforce the laws. Ok, I get it, blame him for everything that has ever gone wrong with this country, is that the new talking points that you conservatives are using now???

      • http://?? Joe H.

now THERE’S the old googleeyes I know!!!!

      • eyeswideopen

JoeH, come on, how can you really blame him? Do you think 12 million just came across the border this past year?? Get real and for once just admit that CLinton and Bush with the republican congress didn’t want to do a darn thing about this situation.

      • Carl McGinnis

No I guess I didn’t make myself clear. I do not blame Obama for the immigration problem. I do blame him for not fixing it as he promised. I do blame him for accepting the abuse the detainees are going through at the Broward Transitional Center. He can not say he did not know about it because I have written to Him, Janet and John Morton. They know that these people are being treated in an unhumane environment and they are accepting it. I am just saying it is not a surprise that people are dying in ICE custody. I have seen the abuse with my own eyes. I am saying Shame on america for accepting this abuse. I think Most Americans do not know what ICE is doing in the name of America. It is my opinion that abuse has no place in our homes, schools, churches, or in the detention centers. America should not be about abuse, But our Government seems to think it is ok as long as they are the one doing it.

What is WRONG with you people? HOW can you be so willing to throw away your freedom, and do it in the name of security? HOW can you not be able to see through the masks of these worthless pretenders?
Schumer and Graham are dyed-in-the-wool, NWO-style useful idiots. They take care of their careers FIRST. If they ever do anything for America, it’s a fluke.
Graham and Schumer should be told to take those implants and SHOVE THEM where the sun never shines. Let THEM tell us how THEY like being part of an experiment. We are NOT anybody’s animals.
New Yorkers, I’m tired of enduring your STUPIDITY. South Carolina, whatever your problem is, FIX IT.
If there’s any reason to put an implant in anyone, put them in those self-made retards we keep sending to Washington.

A biometric social security card will curb illegal immigration dramatically. Strong enforcement and legalization now of the otherwise law abiding illegal immigrants is the way to go.

Amy’s a dolt. some of us would like to remove those who can’t speak without cursing. F-ing this and F-ing that, Gdamn that and G damn this, I always move when the God damning starts as I don’t want to be hit by lightening when he does damn you all who constantly take his name in vain. When you curse like you do, it only shows that you have a limited use of the english language. Most on this site, don’t curse and would probably appreciate it if you didn’t either. A little “hell” here and there is not so bad, but the F word is really not something most Christians want to hear.

      • libertytrain

I agree with you on this one.

  • Amy007

The bill is very good, not perfect, but good enough and Republicans should support it. We can’t deport 11 million people – it’s a fact and they will not go by themselves either. Deportations are too expensive and the money should be rather used for education, healthcare or building infrastructure. Instead of chasing undocumented immigrants we should give them papers and let them pay taxes if they don’t already, and give them a chance to become citizens like many immigrants before them. Many of those people have husbands/wives who are US citizens or permanent residents. How can we call our country a country of immigrants if we ruin immigrant lives. This is America – a country that was built by immigrants and we must preserve this tradition. Every human being deserves a chance to be happy. We also need to remember that many of the undocumented immigrants came to this country legally, but had no chance to work their ways towards permanent residency or citizenship because of the broken immigration law that we have. They are hard working people and the only thing they want is a better life for their families. many are here for many years or even decades. We must give them a chance to live in the US; they are already a part of our society anyway.

    • Jim H.

Amy, We should just let people who are breaking our laws keep doing it, because it would cost to much to deport them? It would cost less to deport them, then what it is costing us with the over burdening of the health and educational systems they are using right now. Then there is the identity theft, an illegal could be using you ss# right now. We are talking about ILLEGAL immigrants, not the ones who came in the front door. The argument that families will be separated, they knew what could happen when they started that family. You say some have been here for decades, That just means they haven’t gotten caught, not that they have earned the right to be here. They are still ILLEGAL.

      • hUSIK

YOU R STUPID, HOW COULD YOU SEPARATE FAMILIIES FROM EACH OTHER….i’M SURE EVEN IN NORTH KOREA, THEY UNDERSTAND THIS IS NOT GOOD TO SEPARATE FAMILIES…EVENTHOUGH WE CALLING THEM VERY EXTREME PEOPLE…U NEED TO GET PSYCHIC CLASSES…!

      • s c

hUSIKee, I’ve been told that North Korea is nice this time of the year. They’re always strapped for cash, so think about taking a LONG trip there. Consider moving there, since you care so much about them. Don’t forget to take some of your chums with you.
I have a lengthy list of your icons who need to live in North Korea for 10 years or longer. If you specifically ask, I will also send you some envelopes and a small cash fund so you’ll have plenty of stamps on hand and you can let us know how your experiment is “progressing.”
Take care, and remember that the fate of the free world rests on your shoulders. Bye bye. Keep those cards and letters coming. We care, too, in our own way(s). Remember, we only want what’s best for you. Trust me.

      • Jim H.

hUSIK, People that break the law are separated from their families all the time. If Dad robs a bank, he goes to prison and is separated from the family. Someone here ILLEGALLY is committing a crime. Both should have thought of their family before committing a crime. Sometimes families move because of a job moving adult children and grand children away and they didn’t even commit a crime. My wives Dad and sister live 1200 miles from here and her brother is even farther. Military families get separated all the time and these people are SERVING their country. So I”M not the ogre you think I am because I don’t believe that family separation is a reason to allow ILLEGALS to stay.
        .

      • http://naver samurai

Well, since you talk about North Korea, a nation you seem to know nothing about, how do you think that all these illegals effect “We the People?” Our citizens are being buried alive under burdens never authorized by our Constitution or our founding documents. For example: The average citizen working the first 6 months of the year just to pay welfare programs to foreign nationals never authorized by our Constitution. We are a nation of laws and DO NOT reward law breakers.

      • gamm392

You dont separate them you throw them both out or the whole family, plus if you dont seal the borders nothing else works why cant people understand that otherwise how do you know who was already here and who just came in while you were sleeping. by the way just because you capitalize all your letters does not impress me.

      • JeffH

simply stated and to the point..,

        JeffH,
quite comically I discovered another job the illegals are taking over. did you read that they will murder someone for as little as 100.00? now how are the mafia, crips and friends, and US made assasins going to compete with those prices????

      • del

No one wants to separate families. They should take their kids with them!

      • Claire

I agree-be sure to take the kids with them, they will only grow up to be big ones. Egad, I am mean tonight.

    • Joe H.

      Amy007,
they won’t deport themselves? Try fining any employer that employs them and doesn’t use E-verify, and I mean a big fine for EACH illegal they hire. fine every landlord that rents to them and again, make it a good fine!!! Make it manditory for all schools to use E-verify as well. Watch how they self-deport when the jobs dry up the apartments aren’t available, and they can’t get welfare!!! The state of Arizona got real tough with them and they moved out and went to surrounding states and the same will happen in the United States as a whole!!!
As far as your statement of how much it costs, it can’t cost too much more that the combined cost of welfare, unemployment, and state services to all of them!! That unemployment, by the way, is due to them taking jobs away from citizens of this country!!!

JoeH, what about having a fee for crossing the border each time? That money could be used to help enforce the patrols and fund the high tech equipment we need. It is not feasible to round up 12 million, so we need to come up with some kind of criteria of who to send back. What would you use???

Good post Amy.. I agree… Rounding up 11 million people is unworkable and just plain impossible….

      • TIME

        A Nano Wit,
WOW your back, well lets see it seems to me that in the 1950′s Eisenhower, you may recall he was one of our Presidents was able to round up over 15 million illegalls and send them back in their home country with out any problems, oh and that was in less than six months.

So why is it now so hard to do the same thing, could it be due to their being then thousand times more visible now? Yea right I don’t think so.

Look the facts are, you go down to Mexico illegally and get cought and you will spend “many years in prison,” not the nice clean type like we have here in the US.
Or lets say your really on a wild ride and you just per chance make it into China illegally, your dead bubba!

The facts are its a Federal law thats been broken, if YOU break a frederal law, say like not paying your income tax, you get fined and sent to prison. That is unless your in congress or the senate or one of BarryO’s buds.
These folks have broken the law, thus a small fine is not within reason when American citizens are treated by our own government in a far more harsh mannor for lesser breaches.

The national ID card scam is just that, its one more step in taking away “US Citezens Freedom.”

And just for the record the Illegalls here in the US work for {cash money,} they are not on pay rolls. Just go to any Home Depot at the far end of the parking lot and pick one up.

Again thats just 100% totaly wrong!

Again if you live in New York VOTE out Chuckie, if your in SC vote out Graham. There thats one on each side of the isle.

      • William Nealey

TIME you make more sense than anyone yet. and you are 100% right,

      • American liberal

I can’t find any sites that claim 11 to 12 million illegals were rounded up and deported in the 1950,’… That was a bit before my time… I have my doubts… Right now thanks to you conservative republicans this country is flat broke and I can see you want to just glide past the fact that Ronald Reagan gave illegals amnasty and George W. Bush just ignored the issue so he could conduct his personal adventure aginst Iraq and now no matter what our current president does you’ll call it socialism … I’d bet that if you didn’t mention socialism and tyranny during Bushs presidency then you probley don’t know what tyranny or socialism is…. That’s why I’m suspect when you accuse president Obama of socialism and tyranny…. Aside from healthcare which the democrats say will pay for itself over time the most of president Obamas spending has been to stimulate the economy that Bush destroyed…. Bush broke plenty of laws and stomped on the constitution over and over but you claim President Obamas the socialist ?….that why I think people like me suspect you of racism…president Obama has done nothing compared to socialism and tyranny when compared to Bush and my fear is you tea “party” members are just republicans in disguise and will put the same type of republican conservatives in that drove our country into this recession( that appears to be ending) or improving thanks to the steps president Obama ” had to take”..

      • TIME

But if its on line info your want try factcheck.org, I am sure old GS has had rewritten garbage added in the mix, after all marxist work long hard hours to make great stories for need it now gullible’s like yourself to ingest. So keep up your Vitriol about GWB.

      • Cribster

You have a bad case of “Bush Derangement Syndrome,” join us in the year 2010 would you?

The fix is easy and is not amnesty. We tried that in 1986 and it exacerbated the problem. Rewading bad behavior begets more of the same! There is a minimum of 30 million illegal aliens.

All we need to do is enforce the laws already on the books. Implement e-verify nationwide, permanently. Put an end to sanctuary cities and more importantly birthright citizenship.

First there has to be many more boots on the ground at the border, unfortunately anti-American Janet Napolitano has rolled out the red carpet for illegals. We don’t need to round them up but we certainly can deport them when found.

If we make life absolutely miserable for them, turn on the lights so there’s no more “hiding in shadows,” make it abundantly clear that they are not welcome, many will leave on their own accord. The rest we can round up in due time with help from local law enforcement through the 287 g program.

We will save over 300 billion a year if we reverse this invasion. Stop the bankrupting of our hospitals and get our education system back. Not to mention the MILLIONS of jobs that will become available to citizens.

      • American liberal

Time… I’ll give you that from what I’m reading it ” appears” Eisenhower did try and enforce our immigration laws, so I salute him and give him credit… Ok?… But nowhere can I find anything from the 1950′s that suggests he had 11 million illegals rounded up and deported…. Again, it’s impossible… He may have sent hundreds or even a few thousand , but not millions.. So like I said I salute him for trying but the fact is here we sit today with between 11 and 20 million with a broke goverment ( thanks Bush and republicans) so we need to do what’s best for the country and that’s a path to citizenship with penaltys and fines and then we need to make sure the law us followed and these companys that hire undocumented people are fined or if they repeat close down their business….. We want to make sure we don’t just keep handing out amnasty like Ronald Reagan and ignoring illegal immigration like Bush

      • Mike In MI

        Am Lib -
When will you get it right, boy? It was the Bush presidency under which the democrats in charge of the House put the nails in the economy’s coffin. The Executive Branch doesn’t have, never has had, control over The House Banking and Finance Committee – that was the
Reprobate-in-Chief, Bawwney Fwanque. He was the one who was in bed, literally, with his boy-fwiend, Wains, ovew at Fannie (doncha’ LUV it) Mae. He was awso supposed to exorcise the deviwish gang at the S.E.C. But, he onwy ass/uwed SECs ovewsight was scwewwed bwind.

That’s how Bernie Madeoff with his $50 bill. – S.E.C. blindness, in spite of warning after warning. You think that happen’s by accident?
And, if you do some back-checking, you’ll find Bawwney, Bill Clinton and Robert Rubin purposely picked the Government Sponsored Enterprises (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and a few others) as the money conduit BECAUSE they were not subject to S.E.C.’ oversight, anyway. Rubin told Clinton to change the GSE’s original charter, slightly, to allow them to act as a sort of loan broker for him and his financier club of behemoth bank presidents (All BIG donors to liberal campaigns and causes). Then Rubin quit Treasury and went back to CITI to engineer the subprime loans, Mortgage Backed Security and hedge fund swindles of world investors. Then, when their “books” showed massive losses as the subprime loans fell through they got Barak and friends hollering, “Fire! Fire!”, in the theater to buy their paper debt losses in the bailout binging. Only they weren’t bailing out they were bailing in. Then, they decided to bail and “disappear”.

So, that’s how Barak and “Slick Willy” slipped it to us – in the end.
If that’s the sort of thing you want to stand for, then, keep bowwing. They need people like you. But, rest assured they’ll “do you” right along with the rest of us – left, right or center. You’re no different than the other poor peasants who swept Engels, Marx, Lenin, Trotsky, Mao, Kim Jong Ill, Chavez, Che’, Ho Chi Minh, Pol Pot, the Castro’s and all the other centralized government, exalted kings of the failing or failed states in the world. Soon, we’ll be just like them under The Anointed One.

Illegals are literaly causing this country to go broke. We feed them, pay for their medicaid, pay school taxes for their children to attend school, and some even want our social security before they have paid for it. While lower income Americans can get none of this type of help when needed. Think also how much impact they have on our land and enviorment. They use water, electricty, and need to get rid of trash. Our country can hold only so many people before we have no more room. We need to allow only legal immigration to keep checks and balances of the number of people here.

      • eyeswideopen

Time, it was one million three hundred thousand. not 15 million, or 13 million like blog sites are stating. Federal estimates are that they apprehended 50k in one location and 80k in another, with approx. one million leaving on their own at a fast pace. We bused the ones in custody deep into Mexico and transported some by ship. But because some of the patrols were just taking anyone who look like they were Mexicans, some 6-7 generation Americans were accidentally taken back. It really wasn’t 15 million, think about it, we only have 12-20 now, so you know it wasn’t 15 million. There is a Texas handbook that states it was 1.3 million that left. It is also documented in his papers. When IRCA passed in 1986 more border patrols were supposed to be hired, but congress didn’t do that until 8 years later. Congress listened to special interests, like Agribusiness, who wanted a huge pool of cheap labor and the construction trade wanted cheap labor, so congress just made illegals legal. Agribusiness lobbyists knocked out provisions for effective employer sanctions and obtained a separate amnesty for farm workers who had worked as little as 90 days in the year preceding the IRCA enactment. Big business has caused this problem with enforcement and it benefits them, while killing the middle class. Lobbyists have been running this country for decades and it needs to stop.

Why can’t the liberals and pacifists understand that if a person is in this country illegally they are breaking the law! Period! What part of “ILLEGAL ALIEN” do they not understand? They have broken the law. And if they say they pay taxes…then who’s social security number did they steal? Another law broken. When they sign up for all of the government freebies that us hard working AMERICAN CITIZENS have to pay for…what name, address, or other false information do they supply? It is not fair to those who come here the right way. No one has a problem with Immigration…The problem is with “ILLEGAL ALIENS” which is what these law breakers are. And as for the “Anchor Babies”…the law that allows this to happen was written just after the Civil War. It was to allow any slave or indentured servant to become a citizen if they chose to. It was never intended to be used in this agregious manner. It needs to be stopped. We do not deserve to used and abused by those who chose to break the law or by those who are in CONGRESS WHO REFUSE TO UPHOLD THEIR OATH OF OFFICE to protect the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. Come November we will see who laughs last.

Illegals have been, are currently, and will continue to vote…they are encouraged to do so — sometimes behind closed doors in the Spanish speaking community which I have witnessed FIRST HAND, and within organizations like AFL-CIO–as well as groups that operate similar to ACORN but target Latinos. If Construction workers pay English speaking friends $1,000 to take tests for them in order to qualify for positions in construction, do we not think that illegals who obtain fraudlent licenses obtained with fraudulent ID’s, will not register to vote using the license? It is ENCOURAGED in some circles as a bonding obligation to support and be “down with” “your oppressed Spanish speaking compadres.” A word of caution, the ones organizing the illegal population of 12-20 million are AFL CIO/SEIU thugs working with Marxist organizers like Juan Jose Guiterrez. Look him up. He advocates anti capitalism and considers his company (which is always changing in name) currently operating at FRIC (Full Rights for Immigrant Coalition). Check out his speeches and PLEASE note how many times he takes meeetings w/ President Obama. Also note he uses or hires SEIU thugs for his Illegal IMmigrant Rights Marches all over our cities and state capital. These SEIU “security guards” hurt or body block ANYONE who attends they don’t like. You don’t even have to oppose them. WAKE UP AMERICA– this is a very corrupt, politically motiviated power hungry movement who does not believe your laws or Constitution exists. Therefore illegals can vote! IT’s that simple.

For further research: Look up Jose Guiterrez’s affiliation with A.N.S.W.E.R.
Look up Fabien Nunez, famous for his quote “The last gasp of breath White America will take.” (and who’s son is up on a murder charge that Mayor Villaraigosa tried to get him off of!).

: MALDEF (who sued AMERICA recently on behalf of 32 illegal immigrants with support of the Mexican Gov’t), LULAC, CHILA, MECHA, ATZLAN, etc! Then TRACE the connections to Obama et al in the FEDERAL level. Look at each state at the local level and see who is organizing the illegal immigrants — its the UNIONS. It is an organization of crime and corruption in the United States of America, and they are using the illegals as pawns in a power game. VOTING BY ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS is ABSOLUTELY encouraged. This group believes in obtaining power in politics by ANY MEANS NECESSARY. Sound familiar?

    • Amy’s a DOLT!

Amy, you are as retarded as they come. Get a clue and put the glue-pipe down. You’ve obviously had enough.

      • eyeswideopen

Amy, so how do you propose to move 12 million people around this country and into Mexico? How expensive do you think it will be? Let’s hear some specifics if you are going to critize, let’s hear your plan.

Lets start by securing the border not with high tech gadgets or fences but by simply building shooting towers every half mile or so. Deadly force is what they use on their southern border

      • TIME

        Eyes Dude,

I am not sure how to do it, but what I do know is if we put our best “real minds” to the task and don’t tie their hands nor bind them to a chair, there are people that can figure this out.

I see it as like playing a game of chess, you have to have someone who understand the scope and gravity of the game, then let them roll with it.

Think of it like this, any band that starts up, they all know how to play what ever they play, but are not sure how to play as a unit.
So they work on it until they get it right.

      • Mike In MI

        Hey, TIME -

How about if we pass a law, business owners caught with illegals on staff, courts fine the owner by forcing him to arrange transport for the aliens back to the nearest border – family in tow if they want to go. Of course, to make sure they get there and back accross the border, an escort(s) will be required. They’ll need food and lodgings on the way, wages (escort), health insurance and all the other employee bennies Barak has arranged. Then the escort has to report on the success and be shipped home.
Thus employers will be super cautious and there will be lots of employment for American citizens. The money gets redistributed and so do the sick-eagles (an ecology bonus). Barak couldn’t ask for a better plan.

      • eyeswideopen

Time. it is big business that wants the illegals here. We need to make the fines so heavy and the publicity so bad that they finally stop. If Jolly Green Giant, is employing them, stop purchasing their product, write a letter, sign a petition and complain to your congressman. Calf. could solve most of the problems as they have tremendous purchasing power, with ad executives right in their own state. We don’t have to shoot or become violent, we can still be Christians and solve this issue.

We can’t afford to deport them my A$$. The money saved in medical cost due to these parasites alone would be more than enough to send them back. Not to mention money and or goods confiscated from them. And for all the farmers that are crying about getting there crops picked, they would have plenty of FREE LABOR. Supplied by the steady flow of incarcerated illegal aliens. Is someone thinking anchor baby of course you are this is a simple fix too, If you are born here illegally you should not be granted citizenship either. If you don’t agree with that fine. Simply give the illegal aliens the option of taking their kid that has citizenship with them if they like. This country wasn’t built by bleeding hearts, but it is darn sure getting torn apart by them. By the way all bleeding hearts should be deported too

    • DamnYankee

And what about the millions of unemployed Americans?Should not American employers of illegal aliens be fined for hiring illegals rather than Americans willing to do the same job? This aiding and abetting of illegals so that the “bottom line”,(profit) in my opinion is close to treason. The same holds true for those corporations that move to foreign lands, hiring them, rather than stay in the States and hire Americans. Some call it profit, others call it greed, I call it treason.

  • McMorty

The amnesty pillar must fall before this is a workable piece of legislation.

    • Joe H.

      McMorty,
      Well said, brother!!!

      • Runninbear

Do the math 11 million illegals minus 9.8 % unemployed? they should start with Obamas Aunt that has refused to obey a deportation order since 2004 and she is still here and has the best lawyer someone that has been living on “Public assistance and working “Illegally” for the “Boston Housing Aurthority” donating “Illegally to barrack hussien campaign funds, couldn’t afford but there she is still?fighting a “6 year” old deportation order? What she afraid of her and Obama’s cousin is the Prime Minister?after he terrorized the country? killed 1500 non mulsims. This is the same guy Senator Obama went there and actively campaigning for Raila Odinga,He lost even with Obama using his US Senator clout to impress his native country men.Remember Dakfur!
We have to start enforcing the laws we have or we will always be ask to declare amnesty to criminals who come here Illegally and there will be hundred who will fill the hole.(If this thing happened in any other country they would put them prison?)
It’s not fair to the Legal Immigratants that go through the long legal ordeal to become a upstanding American citizen, and not letting some one who has committed an illegal act to enter a country and ask that country to accept him.
A rancher was just killed who lived along the border and this rancher would even carry water for illegals crossing his land and he was killed because he surprised some illegal? This must stop! build the fence or have it patroled ?we are at with terrorists and the drug wars of Mexico. The borders should have been secured after 911?Janet needs to step down and stop the lies?shes been reading from Obama’s teleprompters again!

He’s right. Please read the Bob Krenze story. I followed it for 3 years an now an American citizen is murdered on his own property in Arizona. Also please research the Bennet case in Arizona — sued by MALDEF WITH the Mexican Gov’t orchestrating behind the scenes help to MALDEF! Tried to set a precedent in AMERICA via this case. These ranchers have flown to Washington over several Presidencies and BEGGED for security. One is dead and the other has spent a ton of money to fight a ludicrous law suit. Shame on MALDEF, the MEXICAN CONSULATES, and The Southern Poverty Law Center. These organizations should be put out of business. They are ruining our great nation and taking advantage of “interpretation of the law.”

      Amen to that!

  • TIME

This is just 100% WRONG in all respects!
We don’t need any Federal ID cards, and or chip inplants. Just say “No thanks.”

Toss out – both of these fruit cakes, thats you people in New York for Chuckie, and you that live in SC for Graham.

    • William Nealey

I dont trust anything a deemo and a RINO come up with, it seems to me they have been studying hitlers methods too much.

    • Tim D.

I don’t think Chuck is a fruitcake. I don’t agree with his position on amnesty. I actually contributed to Graham’s primary challenger Buddy Witherspoon, but unfortunately Graham won. Perhaps next time around the good people of SC will wake up and smell the coffee.
After the past murder of fellow engineer Anthony Battaglia on his own front lawn by six members of the “Latin Kings” in NY, and the recent murder of a rancher and his dog by an illegal immigrant from Mexico perhaps others will “smell the coffee” and get the Border fence built and do some serious internal enforcement. I see absolutely no reason to release felons who are illegal aliens back into the USA! Transport them back to their countries of origin forthwith!

    • JeffH

The only reform necessary at this point is to reform the government to support the existing laws on immigration. If one is here illegally, ship them back and let them adhere to and go thru the same rules of the laws already in place. Make an application for citizenship or a green card and let the laws decide the fate of those that want to become legal workers and citizens. Otherwise, take a hike.

      • http://personallibertydigest Bruce D.

I agree with you. America is growing in population so fast that aliens can no longer be assimilated into the American culture. They are starting subcultures with many learning how to work the system for freebies. If they eventually find a way to vote they will vote themselves more freebies as is popular to do on the left.
