That Cornhusker Kickback Will Cost You Plenty

That Cornhusker Kickback Will Cost You Plenty

Remember when Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson cut a deal with the Obama Administration to deliver the 60th vote in favor of Obamacare? To the ever-lasting shame of both sides, the result was an embarrassment that came to be known as the Cornhusker Kickback.

Basically, Big Ben asked for some special help so Nebraska could cover the increased costs of Medicaid when Obamacare finally passed. Barack and his buddies said “done” and—viola!—suddenly there was an additional $100 million for Nebraska buried deep in the legislation.

When news of this sweetheart deal got out, I’m delighted to report that a mighty outcry went up around the country. No one was willing to defend this crass example of Washington payola—not the folks who arranged it or even the voters who benefited from it.

In a sane world such overt bribery would never make it past a conference committee. But fiscal sanity—or even outright honesty—hasn’t been much of a factor in Washington politics for years. Instead of slicing $100 million out of Obamacare, the wheeler-dealers in charge of spending your money decided that “the only fair thing to do” was to give the same benefits to the other 49 states.

All of a sudden a special subsidy that was going to cost us $100 million—pocket change when you’re talking about a $870-billion piece of legislation—soared to $30 billion. Even by Washington’s spendthrift standards, we’re starting to talk about some real money here, folks.

What happened next shouldn’t have surprised me: The powers that be decided to cover the costs by slapping a new tax on well-off Americans. After all, as President Obama keeps reiterating, it’s only right that the wealthiest among us pay “their fair share.”

So that’s how a brand-new tax on what the redistributionists like to call “unearned income” became the law of the land. Starting next year, if you earn more than $200,000 a year, expect to see another bite taken out of anything you’ve managed to save. The new tax will cover interest on your Certificates of Deposit and other savings accounts; any dividends you make on stocks or mutual funds, rental income on any real estate you own, and anything else our masters in Washington can classify as “unearned” income.

Excuse me for a moment while I let out a primal scream or two about the Marxist misnaming of my so-called unearned income.  I worked mighty hard to earn every penny I’ve managed to save. There were a lot of 80 and 90 hour weeks when I was younger and just starting in business. I had to do the work of two or three people every week to keep my company’s doors open. And I’ll bet a lot of you who will be hit by this new tax can say the same thing.

Even Ben Nelson is now in full retreat from the monstrosity he helped create. No sooner had the Senate version of Obamacare finally been approved in the House than he became the first Democrat in the Senate to denounce “reconciliation.” He said he was especially troubled by the new tax he helped foist on us. He also denounced all those other add-ons that have pushed “the total cost of health reform up billions of dollars.”

Gee, does anyone think the senator is trying to curry favor with the voters back home? I hope a lot of Nebraskans will remember all of this when they go to the polls this November.

By the way, while I’m on the subject, may I ask for a show of hands of all of you who feel you don’t pay your fair share of taxes? And yes, Mr. Buffett, if by any chance someone sends you this column, we would love to publish your reply. I’ve seen reports that you think you should pay more. So why don’t you? There’s no law against Berkshire Hathaway adding a zero to every check it sends Uncle Sam.

For the sake of this discussion, I’m willing to grant that every American who is worth more than $50 billion should pay more in taxes than I do. Not just more total dollars, but I’ll compromise my principles enough to tolerate the plank in the Communist Manifesto that calls for a progressive income tax being levied against them.

But for the rest of us, let’s get real, as my kids would say. The canard that well-off Americans aren’t paying “their fair share” is one of the biggest of the Big Lies that socialists have used for decades to foster the culture of envy that dominates almost all of our politics.

Let’s look at the numbers to see what the truth really is. The last year for which the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has released figures is 2007, so what follows is a bit out of date. But I can’t imagine that the percentages have changed much in ’08 and ’09. Look at what the government’s own figures show:

  • The top 1 percent of taxpayers in this country pay 40.42 percent of all income taxes.
  • For the top 5 percent, the percentage is even higher. The 7.1 million taxpayers who fit this description pay 60.63 percent of all Federal income taxes.
  • The bigger the net, the greater the discrepancy. The top 25 percent of taxpayers (35.3 million of us) can take pride in knowing that we contribute 86.59 percent of federal taxes. And the top 50 percent (70.5 million of us) pay 97.11 of the total taxes collected.

In comparison, the bottom 50 percent of filers—some 70.5 million of Americans with any kind of income—pay a minuscule 2.89 percent of federal tax dollars.

By what possible rationale can anyone say that the “rich” in this country don’t pay their fare share? You tell me. If the 71.22 percent that the top 10 percent in this country pay isn’t “their fair share,” then what is? I’d really like to know how you Obamaites (and yes, there are lots of you who read this column) justify urging government to confiscate more of our earnings.

With tax-collection day now less than two weeks away (Tax Freedom Day won’t happen for nearly two more months; I’ll write about that as it gets closer), I’ve been thinking a lot about our rapacious government and what it will take to put it on a diet.

As we’ve just seen, asking nicely ain’t gonna do it. Even yelling loud and long won’t be enough.

We’ve got to run the rascals out of office. Not all of them, I’m happy to say. Get rid of the worst 10 or 15 percent and the rest of the crowd in Washington will move to the right so fast the loony left won’t know what hit them.

Remember, most legislators aren’t dedicated to making government bigger. They aren’t dedicated to making it smaller, either. They’re just dedicated to staying in office. And if sounding (and voting) like a new Sarah Palin is what it will take to protect their careers, most of them will move right so fast all you’ll see is a blur.

In this country, we can still “throw the rascals out.”  But it will only happen, as I’ve said before, if those of us who work for a living become as devoted to the battle as those who vote for a living.

Until next Friday, think about what you’ll do to make a difference. And keep some powder dry.

You all think that because you agree with other people on a website aimed only at a subsection of America that most Americans agree with you. I have worked since I was 15 and I have never taken a handout but I am behind the Healthcare plan and president Obama. You think this is a handout to people who don’t work but what about your fellow countrymen that have lost their jobs as a result of trickle down economics pushed by conservatives and because of unfunded tax cuts given by your boy GWB. What do you think happens when people without insurance go to the emergency room? It costs all of us money. Having them covered may cost some up front but in the end it saves us money. I’m not saying this plan is perfect but since Republicans, and right wingers, would not allow the proper civil discourse on this to make the bill better. They just wanted it defeated because it was considered socialist. Don’t you see that you’re being influenced by people with an agenda. The political system in this country is broken but many of you are being taken advantage of by people who are getting you riled up and telling you what you want to hear. Would any of you have given Obama a chance no matter what his agenda was? Did you want him to fail and you’re just jumping on board to make it happen? Wake up people, America is changing and it’s changing for the better. There may be stumbles on along the way but change in and of itself is not bad. Stop fearing what you don’t understand. Instead of asking Republican senators to make our president fail ask them to work with anybody and everybody to do what’s right for this country. The good ole days weren’t always good. You’re just looking at them with rose colored glasses.

You’re absolutely right, Marxism is the answer! Let’s find out because it shouldn’t take long! Anyway, war probably is next! It’s worked before hasn’t it?

      • Dave

Are you implying civil war? Doesn’t seem like that war is always the right wing answer to everything. No one is talking about Marxism except the right. There is no public option. There is no government takeover. It’s all the same insurance companies as before and people with insurance will have no change to their benefits. Does the south really want another civil war? Remember how the last one worked out?

      • EltonJ

If a war does break out, it will be purely ideological.

      • MikeC

Dave, that’s not reform! It’s a take-over, and written, by the insurance company regime! It’s no wonder you like things for free when bending over! Don’t forget your sticker! Next…

      • zack

MikeC it’s not next, it is poke here.

Dave– President Obama said this week–that other nations who attack the United States don’t have to worry about America responding with Atomic Bombs-! (“Come on, you enemies–go ahead & hit us–see if I Care!”) Do You think that He’ll defend America–if that happens-!? Or will he give them a “Good-Will” Speach–about “Let’s be Friends-”?
        “We Surrender-!!”

      Dave,
the ones that are truly out of work due to the economy(notice I left out your insult?) could have been covered by an expansion of medicaid, and not have screwed the rest of us. BTW, I hope you don’t mind some desk jokey knowing all of your health information. you know, the stuff that the courts have maintained to be private and not accessible by anyone without your express permission?? No longer, as the government will have to have a complete report on any and all care you receive!! They will then make the decision on whether you GET the care your doctor wants you to have!!! Think not??? Just you wait then tell me!!!

      • Marc

“the stuff that the courts have maintained to be private and not “accessible by anyone without your express permission?? You mean the ‘stuff’ your (for-profit) insurance company already has ? The ones that now decide if they will pay for the care your doctor wants you to have ?

      • Joe H.

The stuff the insurance companies can’t release without your written permission! The stuff your Dr. can’t release to them without a signed slip giving them permission!! I actually stopped them from releasing any information on my diabetes untill I had talked to a few people that had been diagnosed with it to find out if they were going to give me problems with treatment later on for associated problems!!!

One could add to this that now IRS will have unfettered access to your bank accounts, with the abilities to withdraw at their descreation.

      • Joe H.

        Marc,
Hope that when we get 3-4 dollar gas you think that!!! when they make you pay for your health insurance you still say that!!! After you start paying for it and all costs go up I hope your 25,000 a year will be enough for you to LIVE on!!!

      • Palin12

Marc, I have great news for you! The IRS actually allows you to pay them more than you owe. Just enclose a note with your return that says “Dear IRS, I can’t believe how low my taxes are. I’m enclosing an extra $1000.” As for me, keep your cotton pickin hands outta my wallet!

Marxism 101: Bankrupt an Economy and take over the government! Scary part is that Karl Marx was a best friend of another “Jew” named Adam Weishaupht, who started the “New World Order” society to give back Lucifer(The biblical first messiah) his throne! He also began the Illuminati with Karl Marx! While it’s often taught that Marxism is non-religious, that is a lie according to it’s founder, Karl Marx! I wonder if our Progressive School system had anything to do with this incorrect belief? In fact, In 1520, the Roman Catholic Pope asked Petrus Galatinus, a Spanish Priest at the Vatican, to rename the Jewish Messiah to honor the highest Greek Deity, Zeus! Petrus came up with “Jesus,” and this is “true” history! Oh, yes, this is a direct violation of the 3rd Commandment! If you are interested in absolute scientifically proven 100 % biblical truth, email: info@yahweh.org; or mail: P.O. Box 208, Pocahontas, AR 72455.
PS: Don’t say what good could come out of Arkansas, as the Scribes said about the Savior coming out of Nazareth, or you will be as wrong as they!

    • EltonJ

Karl Marx wasn’t involved with the founding of Adam Weishaupt’s Illuminati. Adam Weishaupt is a contemporary of George Washington. Karl Marx is a contemporary of Abraham Lincoln. Strangely enough, there is a conspiracy theory going around that Adam Wieshaupt replaced George Washington during his second term as President.

      (I don’t think it’s true, since I can’t find any historical records).

The point is, Karl Marx was born in 1818 and died in 1883. Adam Weishaupt was born in 1743 and died in 1830. The Bavarian Illuminati was founded on May 1, 1776. I don’t think Karl Marx was alive then.

    • Dave

      Really?

    • JeffH

Let not the modern era, 20th century, of Marxism was carefully taught by Saul Alinsky. When one tales a look at Alinsky and his teachings, one sees what a fool the liberals have become, just a pawn to peddle socialism.
Saul Alinsky wrote the book on American radicalism – two books, in fact: a 1945 best-seller, “Reveille for Radicals” and “Rules for Radicals” in 1971. The “Reveille” title page quotes Thomas Paine… “Let them call me rebel and welcome, I feel no concern from it; but I should suffer the misery of devils, were I to make a whore of my soul.”
“Radicals precipitate the social crisis by action – by using power. Liberals may then timidly follow along or else, as in most cases, be swept forward along the course set by Radicals, but all because of forces unloosed by Radical action. They are forced to positive action only in spite of their desires…
“The real action is in the enemy’s reaction. The enemy properly goaded and guided in his reaction will be your major strength. Tactics, like life, require that you move with the action.”

Alinsky was hated and defamed by powerful enemies, proof that his tactics worked. His simple formula for success…

      “Agitate + Aggravate + Educate + Organize”

      • JeffH
      • JeffH

take a closer look at Obama and the democrats actions and jug=dge for yourself, Is Obama a RADICAL? If the shoe fits, wear it!

      • JeffH

        judge…oops!

      • Marc

Alinsky was hated and defamed by powerful enemies, proof that his tactics worked. His simple formula for success…

        “Agitate + Aggravate + Educate + Organize”

Why is it I seem to see a lot of that on here as a Conservative tactic ?

      • JeffH

        Fight fire with fire…simple!

      • Vicki

liberals use indoctrinate and intimidate, Conservatives here use educate. No clearer proof needed than Climate-gate

      • Smilee

do you really believe the uneducated can educate anyone, unbelievable

      • Vicki

That you believe you can not learn from the uneducated is why you fail.

      • ’53 Korean Vet

Because Saul Alinsky was a “Copy-Cat”–the book he wrote, came from a
Soviet hand-book called “Soviet-Style Brain-Washing”– You can read from it, just type in– http://www.whale.to/b/soviet.htm —Be sure to read “Editorial Note”, and the “Address by Lavrent Beria”, and then, to see where it’s applied in today’s America–read Chapter XIV–”The Smashing of Religious Groups”–(Isn’t this what happening with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), whose founder was an American Communist Party member-?!) They’ve already have had much success in the “Ivy-League” American Colleges-! As the Soviets have said, “we defined them as ‘Trained Apes’-! (Their Brain-Washing worked quite well on American Students, whose minds were weaken by propaganda-!)

      • Vicki

        “Agitate + Aggravate + Educate + Organize”

The correct formula (the one actually used) is

        “Agitate + Intimidate + Indoctrinate + Organize”

    • Joe H.

Just saw a poll that said that 48% are for the health care bill and 51% are against!! It’s getting better!!!

      • Palin12

It was reported today that 62% of Nevadans are in favor of Repeal the Bill.

Squabbling politicians in the greatest country in the world. Power Grabs – both sides are guilty of this.

It is only the high end doctors who don’t deal with the insurance companies. The one’s who cater mostly to the wealthy.
Anyone should be allowed to easily see a doctor. It’s that simple.

Money is never “spent’ just circulated. To think otherwise is to have a limited view of economics. How efficient one method is from another is a just matter of opinion.

    • George E

      Clement,

A measure of the efficiency of spending money is how much wealth is created. Government spending is inefficient in that regard compared to private sector spending. All spending is not equal. Don’t let the politicians try to fool you into thinking they can spend your money better than you can. It’s just not true.

  • darly

The first time I heard obama talk I knew this country was in trouble.

    • William Nealey

me too. I told my friends he was just another slick willie with a deep tan,

      • Dave

So you saw what he looked like and that he spoke well and you determined, without listening to what he had to say that the country was in trouble. Way to make an informed decision. Unfortunately I think too many are like you.

      • http://www.americairemember,com angel-wanna-be

Dave___ we didn’t have to wait and listen for Obama to speak, alot but not enough of us, took it upon ourselves to read the fine print about him before he took office!___WE WERE NOT AMUSED!!!!

      • Joe H.

        Dave,
Had you paid attention to his voting record and what he had supported you would have thought we were in trouble as well unless you were mindless!! like his supporting partial birth abortion, or voting “present” instead of taking a stand on most other things that mattered! I have often wondered how “present” he was other than in the physical sense!!!

      • tedcrawford

Dave: The first thing I did was to read his books. While he gave abundent lip service to real American values he couldn’t resist slipping in small, almost disconnected, insights to HIS real values. I.E. “upon arriveing at college I sought out the radicals, the foreign students and the MARXIST professors or ” should a conflict occure I will side with the muslims”.
This caused me to investigate his political career. That collection of back-stabbing,underhanded,legal menure er I mean maneuvers is far too lengthy to go in to. The first campaign he was in he succeeded in haveing EVERY other candidate removed from the ballot! The next one was straight -up, and they decisively handed him his hat! He then hooked up with the Chicago Machine and the rest is history!

      • JeffH

tedcrawford, He became the perfect choice for Soros and his hierarchy of wealthy socialists to fund/buy the presidency. He wore the suit and had the image and was very well spoken, plus the study of the Alinsky radical beliefs and socialist organizing.. America was ready for change, but becareful what you wish for. Shock and awe change is what we ended up with.

      • Vicki

I listened to what Obama claimed in his campaign for nearly 6 mo before I ever saw him. I KNEW from what he said that he was a very charismatic speaker and socialist thru and thru.

He is in fact the very reason the founding fathers wanted only natural born citizens to hold the office of President. That leadership position needed to be held by someone who was born AND RAISED in the US with US culture. A culture of freedom and liberty and self reliance. A culture whos economic engine was a free market system.

Obama may or may not have been born in Hawaii but he spent all of his formative years in cultures that do not mesh well with a culture of a free people.

The thing the Founding fathers missed was that in the future it would be easy to travel and thus grow up in another quite different culture.

    • Marc

The first time I heard him talk (in person), I thought there was hope…I still do. But I do hear some scary things out there….

      • Smilee

I’LL BET THEY ALL COME FROM FAR RIGHT WING CONSERVATIVE RADICALS OR RACISTS

      • JeffH

It’s so nice to know that you’ve got it all figured out that we’re far right radicals and racists. You and scott belong in the same looney bin.

      • Vicki

        Smilee

Just listen to what obama promised during his campaign. “Hope and Change” Then the only things actually mentioned were his desire for a “civilian” security force at least as well funded as the military and for his desire to tax “joe the plumber” and that the prices of energy would necessarily go way up in his vision of change. (I think he said skyrocket)

So are you telling us that Obama is secretly a FAR RIGHT WING CONSERVATIVE RADICAL? Not very likely :)

      • JeffH

Vicki…on the money..might want to watch this video about the Democrats’ Rainbows and Unicorns

        Obama: BEST PRESIDENT EVER!!!

        http://www.floppingaces.net/2010/04/01/obama-best-president-ever/

  • Doug Osborne

    To Norm,

Like so many comments, you just don’t get it! The Republicans would have loved to participated in the debate on healthcare. But for once
they did exactly what we the people who elected them wanted. There are numerous things in the Bill that we the people do not like! But the biggest complaint we had was this was not really about Health Care! This was simply a Power Grab by the Liberal Democrats! More intrusion in to our private lives and more control over us. We have seen how efficient the Government is at running programs! How many are in trouble now and will soon be bankrupt? Why would anyone think the Government will be capable of efficiently running such a complicated program?

By the way, the Republicans did try to participate in the debate by offering numerous commonsense amendments that were struck down by the power hungry Democrats!

    • William Nealey

yep. Doug you said it much better than this old country boy could.

AAAHHH! The aroma from a Romeo & Julietta cigar and the sweet taste of a fine bottle of Chardonnay..Package city, local, state, property, medicare, fica and social security taxes together, divide it by one’s gross monthly income (50% tax group)and what do we have? Border line maintenance for living expenses. The evils’ of having wealth.. But wait, we can fix this evilness! Pass Health (Care)Insurance laws, Cap and Trade, Immigration Reform, increase the tax on Unearned Income, Inheritance Tax.. have we missed anything? Oh Yes; VAT tax-that should level the playing field! If that is not enough, we can pull the “Ace” card out! Pull more oil and gas leases from the evil oil companies, confiscate more federal land in the western United States and designate them as National Monuments, (which will eliminate future drilling). Finally, increase our dependence on foreign oil and drive the cost of fuel up–more people walking, less vehicles on the road, we saved the planet! AAAHHH! The aroma from a King Edwards cigar and the sweet taste of a fine bottle of white grape juice. An evening in the mind of a PROGRESSIVE!!

  • Eric S

Such are the commissions of a w#ore: money for hire.
It is time to vote out any candidate who does not hold to the principles of the constitution and would rather have pay out then representing their constituents faithfully. We have seen enough Demopublicans. Such is the case of “Big Ben”. Seems when a party gets too big for their britches they forget who sent them to do the job in the first place. There are too many mirrors and too much smoke out there. On the good note more people are becoming aware of the situation. Obama seems to draw out the worst in these elected officials exposing their true character. People need to unify to brake this endless cycle on the assault of our freedoms. Don’t forget to exact the same scrutiny while electing local and state officials for they eventually may be the next “Big Ben”. Thus said here are 3 good qualifications for any elected official you may vote for: 1.) Places the constitution as the means to govern in this Republic as the foundation in all decisions. 2.) Must have good character. 3.) Must be of the heart to represent their constituents and character will come into play, (#2), when confronted by special interests. The fourth would be heading in the right direction for what needs to be done for our states and nation.
It is important that we take this responsibility seriously as voters and look hard into these issues. Again, appreciate hearing the voice of reality outside of the smoke and mirrors and your articles Chip.

    • William Nealey

now there’s a man I whole heartedly agree with,

      • Dave

The reason those “Demopublicans” get elected is because there aren’t enough far right conservatives out there to vote them into office. The world is changing and you are becoming a minority. I know that scares you but you might as well accept it. A Liberal is a true American just asm uch as you are. We accept that you exist, we’re just happy your numbers a dwindling. In the end, I guess you could say that you guys had your run and it didn’t really work out for you. Now it’s our turn. You might as well accept it.

      • George E

        Dave,

Keep dreaming. This is a center-right country and the independents/moderates are siding with conservatives right now. If Obama and the Democrats don’t move to the center (in deeds not just talk), you can bet there will be a big clean up in Washington in the coming elections. Folks are real concerned about the Federal government’s debt and deficit, and much less concerned about healthcare reform (if it adds costs as this one surely will), environmental cleanup (when it adds costs like the proposed cap & trade bill), immigration reform (when it gives automatic citizenship to millions of illegal immigrants who will add costs and burdens to the existing entitlement programs, etc. The Democrats are totally out of aligment with the majority of American citizens right now, and they’ll pay a heavy price at the polls for it.

      • Dave

As I said, the democratic politicians aren’t ideal. I think the whole political process has problems. Part of our problem is that there’s a 2 party system where if you don’t like what the Democrats are doing you have to go Republican. If we put Republicans in they’re just going to piss us off too. Healthcare costs are spiraling out of control and both parties know that. Something had to be done and it had to be done with a Democratic congress and president or it would never get done because the Republicans just try to cut taxes and give handouts to corporations. Corporations are the ones running this country the difference is that Republicans don’t care and Democrats do. I don’t mean Democratic politicians necessarily but I do mean Democrats. We’ll have years now to hone this bill into exactly what it needs to be. The Republican politicians just wanted to defeat Barack Obama and take back more seats they don’t care about healthcare costs or anyone who is dying because they have no health coverage. The center right country is moving slowly to the left. Unfortunately Republicans are allowing the face of their party to be the radical right. More people are afraid of them then are willing to say.

      • George E

        Dave,

You’re right, there are just two viable choices when you vote; Democrat or Republican. All others are just tie-breakers and spoilers. So, if you’re not happy with either of these parties, then you need to work harder to get the platforms and candidates you prefer nominated in their primaries and conventions.

Regarding tax cuts for corporations, Republicans and conservatives understand that if you lower tax rates you incentivize investment and spending which, ironically, leads to higher tax revenue. Many Democratic Party leaders understand this principle as well, but can’t publicly adopt it because it flies in the face of their rich-versus-poor arguments which many of their supporters want to hear.

Regarding corporations running the country, that’s a pretty tough thing to prove. However, with the government taking over one industry after another right now, I’m much more concerned about big government overstepping its bounds than I am about big corporations taking over.

Regarding Republicans not addressing healthcare when they had a majority in Congress, they did not try to get a “universal government controlled” healthcare bill through as the liberals wanted. They have offered to provide help to the truly needy in paying their healthcare costs and stronger medical savings accounts for those people who work, but Democrats fought against both measures. I’m pretty sure you’ll find out after a few years that the current healthcare law will 1) turn out to be much more expensive than you presently think, and 2) it won’t be as good or as available as you think. Everything the government touches turns out to be incredible expensive, and more often than not, poorer quality and innovation than generally available in the private sector. All of our entitlement programs are so expensive that they will overwhelm our federal budget within the next 10 years. Politicians can promise you anything they want, but they can’t deliver any longer. We’re broke, and there aren’t enough rich people left to bail us out. The only answer is reduce federal spending, and that pretty much means reduce the cost of entitlements. Since government doesn’t innovate new efficient solutions like the private sector, they only know how to cut services and quality when costs rise and they can’t raise enough revenue to offset higher costs.

      • Allan

I keep hearing that conservatives weren’t concerned with healthcare reform. Many more conservatives are employers than liberals. We contended with pre-existing condition issues, inflexibility of group policies, and spiraling costs of providing healthcare to our employees. We were motivated to support reform. It would have been better for Dems to redistribute the wealth of politicians and lawyers than piss off the whole country and igonore free market solutions. But then, for “progressives”, solutions are not based on incentive, but on social engineering with others’ money. Healthcare is just the start. Many progressives believe that everyone should be eating only what they can grow in their garden, and going only where their bicycles can take them. Should make for a robust economy and employment scenario in the next couple of years.

      • MikeC

        Dave,
What’s happening, is there is a rather large minority without affiliation, that votes for a candidate that will best help American. However, what they’ve been promised and what we’ve been given, contradict each other. You might say Double-Speak! Saying that it’s your “turn”, is like a kid who was bullied all his youth, grows taller and stronger than the bully, then becomes the bully! That is what you’re suggesting! Are you a cop, by any chance! Shame on you! This is why I will never ever vote Democrat again! It is the party of the meek and powerless, and you confirmed it! I’m not a RINO, but at least they know better, that forcing citizens to buy anything is illegal.
True, everyone needs access to CARE. Not access to Health Insurance. Being treated by a doctor or specialist has never been the problem. You can always walk into an office and get treated. It’s always been about getting affordable insurance, and the coverage, thereof. WE DON’T NEED INSURANCE to be treated. A little over 40 years ago, there wasn’t insurance. You didn’t need it! You saw your physician and paid cash! Insurance companies have forced the increase in costs, not innovation, as they proclaim! I have a few Dr. friends, and they have to negotiate a higher rate, just to get what they should after negotiating! Insurance companies claim a 3% profit, yet it’s in the $billions$. Those billions could be put back into the system for new technologies. Get the same care in another country and you pay far less! Talk to a Canadian or Brit, and they’ll tell you Socialized medicine doesn’t work! That’s why they were coming here…until now! Plus, it’s unconstitutional! So, as I’ve read, don’t be confused that the Government is taking over Healthcare! Healthcare has taken over the Government!
There are not just 2 parties! There have been a few recent elections where Libertarian candidates have either won or made strides in their respective races! That is great news! We have to keep moving away from these 2 parties, until they respect the constitution they swore to uphold…Then, you have that A@#hole Hare from Ill who said he doesn’t worry about the constitution! Glad he was honest! Now, we know to boot this dude out, too!
The LIBs know that if you give the people bread and circus, they stay in power. For you to need bread, they have to steal all the flour…better yet, our Dough!!

      • Marc

Maybe in an upcoming election we will be able to put in more Independents……then in a very short time we can have them to complain about too….

      • JeffH

A liberal is nothing more than a pawn for the Marxist/socialists.

      • Allan

That’s not what the numbers are Dave. It’s just that a chunk of the middle was fooled by a charismatic politician. The evidence is they are awakening.

  • Clement Williams

When money is spent by the government, It is circulated through the economy. I believe everybody should be able to go to a doctor.

A child left fatherless because of no health insurance is unforgivable in a nation that claims to be the greatest in the world. Tell an orphaned child that his parents were not worth the money that would have given them regular checkups. Checkups that would catch disease early and prevent premature death from cancer or heart failure.

    • Mark

health insurance won’t make you able to see a doctor. Already more and more doctors are deciding not to take ANY insurance, you just pay them, they give you a receipt and tell you to file your own insurance claims. That’s what my doctors are doing already and a lot of my friends say their doctors are doing the same thing.

      • Allan

I think Dems have plans to legally force healthcare providers to participate in the system, perhaps through mandatory licensure criteria, or a national health service requirement in exchange for financial support (since they’re taking over student loans). And there are socioeconomic quotas in the healthcare bill to provide willing comrades to fill what will become government jobs.

      • Joe H.

        Mark,
Why don’t they just leave us who have good insurance alone and expand medicaid to cover the truly needy!! no 25 year olds that are laying on their azzes not wanting to do anything but smoke ganja, drink beer and eat junk food all day long!!

    • George E

When the government spends our money, it is circulated through the economy and does generate some wealth. However, this is a very inefficient way of spending our money, and the “net” wealth creation from this kind of expenditure is very low, probably negative when one considers how the money might have been invested if left to the private sector.

It would be nice for everyone to have the best healthcare possible. Unfortunately, the current plan will not deliver to that vision because it does almost nothing to cut healthcare delivery costs, but does add tremendous costs (adding 30 million new people, for example). This means there will be fewer high quality healthcare providers taking care of more people, so the quality of healthcare will inevitably suffer for everyone when this thing kicks into full gear.

Government can’t give you anything it doesn’t take away from someone else. More often than not, they tell us that they will only tax the rich, but before it is over, everyone gets taxed directly and indirectly to pay for these government programs. Government has no incentive to be efficient with our money so long as we continue giving them all the money they want. So, I think it folly to believe we’re going to get a lower cost, higher quality program from government compared to what we could get from the private sector.

      • Vicki

The other problem with letting a few people in government “circulate” the money is that they use it as “power” to bribe people. It is much harder to bribe 300 million consumers.

    • William Nealey

maybe you haven’t noticed. but where I live everyone can go to a Doctor and they do. even the illegals and we are saturated with them here in N.C. if you doubt me just go to a locao hospieal and look at them lined up at the emergency room,

    • JeffH

Clement Williams, as I wipe the tears away I won’t let my emotions to help a few transfer into buying this Health Care Bankruptcy scheme.
Yes, we need more affordable health care and there needs to be reform, but this bill isn’t going to “save the children” any more than it will “cut the deficit. Take a look at the bigger picture and remove the blinders. I’m sure your thoughts were well intended.

I live close to Nebraska, so it has been comforting to see and hear big ben go through the motions of having a spine. He doesn’t, of course, but at least he can no longer stand back and smile and ‘remind’ the good people of Nebraska that he’s ‘taking care of them.’
Ben got caught with his political pants down, and he couldn’t get them back up fast enough. It will be most rewarding to watch as pelosi, reid, biden, dodd and all the rest of the leading brown-

I wonder when the tea partiers (or states) will have the guts to stop paying income and social security taxes. Check this out. The combined tax burden for those two categories averages 40% of their incomes. Now, get this. This is how much comes from people that make less than $100,000 per year. Forget about the rich. Low income people are giving 40% of their incomes to those jerks in Washington!!!!
You say vote them out. I say cut off their bank account.

    • George E

Yes indeed. There is too much of our money (and credit) in Washington, and this corrupts everyone involved in our government and organizations who vie for a piece of it through special deals. If we put Washington on a tight financial leash, we’ll get much better government.

    • Marc

Can you give a reference for this 40 % figure ?

      • JeffH

I think you have a good point Marc

It’s amazing to me to analyze that many of us (American people )to think that a nation can survive without rich people ! Take a look at socialism nations, always wait for our economy go up first to lift them !
When and if we go down economically, everyone nation on the face of the earth will go to the dogs too !Now,many Americans are waiting for November to clean D.C.. Don’t count on it,to me fair elections is a thing of the pass with Obama and his boys !Lot’s of people still refuse to accept that we’re on the way to hell with these people at the helm.We haven’t seen anything yet,let a couple more years go by and we’ll be able to see that everyone ( also the poor of the poorest) will be paying very high taxes on everything we buy !!Don’t trust Obama and his boys, they only tell lies every time they open their mouth…makes me sick. This great nation is on the way to belly up…..we’ll lose everything we got, even our reform plans.

    • William Nealey

      you are so right,

  • Norm

    Chip says:

The top 1 percent of taxpayers in this country pay 40.42 percent of all income taxes.
For the top 5 percent, the percentage is even higher. The 7.1 million taxpayers who fit this description pay 60.63 percent of all Federal income taxes.
The bigger the net, the greater the discrepancy. The top 25 percent of taxpayers (35.3 million of us) can take pride in knowing that we contribute 86.59 percent of federal taxes. And the top 50 percent (70.5 million of us) pay 97.11 of the total taxes collected.

    What Chip doesn’t say:
The top 1% of families own 34.3 of America’s net worth and the top 10% own 71%.
Also taxes on the very wealthy are at there lowest levels in decades, while the income disparity between high level management and workers is at an all time high.
I don’t begrudge hard work, I’ve done it all my life. Hard work, creativity, talent, and initiative must be and are extremely well rewarded.

    http://www.faculty.fairfield.edu/faculty/hodgson/Courses/so11/stratification/income&wealth.htm

    • George E

      Norm,

Isn’t the more important issue whether we have a disparity in “opportunity” to succeed, rather than whether there is a disparity in wealth? If we do everything we can to give everyone equal opportunities for success, rather than redistributing the wealth, wouldn’t that give us the best outcome? Wouldn’t that inspire people to work hard and achieve, rather than live off the hard work of others?

      • Norm

        George E
Money is power. Money begets money. It is possible for anyone to become very wealthy in the US. It is a lot easier when you have a large stash of money to begin with. In fact, it is difficult for a sane individual, who is born wealthy, to fail. George W. Bush is a perfect example of what money can do for a very average individual.

      • George E

        Norm,

I agree with some of your concepts (setting the comment about GWB aside). However, why does that justify redistribution of wealth? We don’t incent hard work and initiative by giving people who don’t work very hard, money from those who do. In fact, when we do redistribute wealth we incent just the opposite behavior, and that’s not a good thing for the country. Wouldn’t you agree?

      • Norm

        George E
Look at the BILLION $ bonuses given to the idiots who almost destroyed this country. Their response “Did we do something wrong?”
Then they say they are needed to straighten the same mess they created. There must be some logic that I fail to grasp. Prision and confiscation of all their wealth is my vote.

      • George E

        Norm,

If you’d said that about the politicians who actually created this mess, I’d agree with you.

      • eyeswideopen

George, what Chip Woods, fails to mention are these facts:

Tax rate on $410,096 is 22.45% they pay 92066 leaving them 318,030.00
Tax rate on $160,041 is 20.53% they pay 32.856 leaving them 127,185
Tax rate on $32,879 is 14.03% they pay 4,613 leaving them 28,267

I am sure you can see that the people making $410,096 are making 12.50 times more and only paying 8.42% more taxes than the person making 32,879.
Those making 160,041 are making 2.56 times less than those 410,096 and those making 410,096 are paying only 1.92% more than them.
What is sad is that the people making 32,879 are in the top 50% of the revenue generators. They are not paying proportionatally
here is the site with all the stats. http://www.taxfoundation.org/news/show/250.html

Chip is playing the rich are contributing more than anyone else card. Look at the site and see what those making over a million pay.

The severly poor grew by 26% from 2000-2005. There are 37 million working poor. 16 million of those are in severe povertry. Family of four with income less than $9903. 2 out of 3 people (10.3million) in severe poverty are White. (4.3 million) are Black. (3.7 million) are Hispanic. Middle class income is consider to be $32,653 to 48,979. Note these are 2005 statics, while the above link is more current.

Appreciate your efforts here and the site you included but I have one question. As I understand it these charts compare only AGI, adjusted gross income but do not make any comparisons based on taxable income. People with a large income pay taxes on a lessor portion of their AGI than those with smaller incomes and most low incomes only have the standard deduction plus dependent deductions and no more, my question being if this chart only uses AGI comparisons, and I am not sure it does, would this be a good comparison? I am not questioning their accuracy but they wouldn’t they have to include more data than these charts include to give a complete and accurate comparison aside from just AGI and tax rates.

      • Joe H.

        George E,

      • JeffH

George Soros is one of Barack Obama’s primary financial backers and agenda puppeter.

Much of Barack Obama’s socialist agenda and ideas for the United States comes directly from Soros and in turn through his network of leftist funded organizations. This includes the funding of organizations that advocate abortion, open borders, amnesty for illegal aliens, a cap and trade tax, to prevent man-made global warming, huge cuts in defense spending, increasing the minimum wage and the world poverty tax just to name a few.

One of the most frequently cited concerns about Sen. Barack Obama’s qualifications to serve as the 44th President of the United States is his widely reported ties to George Soros, the British Foreign Office’s self-professed wartime Nazi collaborator, and hedge fund speculator. Indeed, a recent Google search for items citing both Obama and Soros, turned up over 1 million news reports and blog commentaries on the ties between the two men.

Through billions of dollars in donations to a select group of Democratic Party-linked organizations, such as MoveOn and ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now), and through his longstanding links to Service Employees International Union (SEIU) corporatist president, Andy Stern, Soros has established his financial and political control over the very grassroots apparatus that is supposed to give Obama the margin of victory on Nov. 4

They knew–that he’d never win, if he had been under a “Socialist”
listing–so he had managed to sway George Soros away from Hillary Clinton in the Democrat Party-! One of the 1963 Goals of the American Communist Party was to gain “Control of one, or both Political Parties in the United States-!” (Looks like they got control of One!) Type in on your computor– Communist Goals 1963 and Now –These were
all disclosed in the 1963 Congressional Investigation, and became part of the Permanent Files of the Congressional Records-! Obama, this week, is pushing for dis-carding Atomic Weapons, which makes sure that the “Mother Country of Russia” will NEVER be Attacked by Atomic Warfare-! (This was the major reason Pres. Kennedy was killed, he dared to threaten Russia with Atomic War, during the Cuban Missile Crisis-!)

    • Smilee

Chip also talks about tax dollars collected in percentage of dollars collected and not percentage of Proportionality of dollars collected which is the only way to make an accurate and honest comparison, you know compare apples with apples and not oranges with apples the way he did it. When you compare it the right way you find the top group pays a lot less by comparison. Warren Buffet amongst many others have said this time and time again, remember when he said his secretary paid a much higher portion of her income than he does.

      • eyeswideopen

Smilee, I posted the link where he got his info. He fails to point out the tax rates for those percentages. Some of us understand taxes and know when someone is trying to sway people into believing that the poor rich in this country are hurting. When Warren Buffett states that he pays proportionally less than his secretary, you know we are in trouble.

      • zack

Smilee you actually believe that you are INTELLIGENT don’t you. You are definitely not at all INTELLIGENT. About like obama he thinks he is to. I got news for you and him, WRONG.

      • JeffH

angel-wanna-be, as you well know, you don’t even have to listen to Rush for those. Obama is so bold his clip can be found on You Tube that verify what Rush is playing.
Oh…don’t trust Rush Limbaugh…everything he says is a lie…he hates America…your smart enough to filter the BS from it.

      • Smilee

You tube can be equally edited and distorted and can no more be trusted than Rush when uploaedd by people who only know how to think like him. Jeff with his limited thinking abilities is naive enough to believe all he hears ans sees as he is incapable in analyzing it correctly

      • http://www.americairemember,com angel-wanna-be

JeffH, I’ve seen plenty of clips of Obama (like everyone else), The Libs say on one thing, the repubs say another, I guess it’s just a matter of who’s side your on and what you wanna believe__The truth is out there!!___but to me the arrogance and the division that Obama is causing in America is quite evident in ALL videos__He has ONE agenda and it’s HIS!__It makes no difference if it’s the will of the people or not!___These Libs that claim “IT WAS THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE THAT PUT BARRACK ONAMA IN OFFICE”—-One year ago that was true!___But it is true NO MORE!, they’re blind if they can’t see it now!__If these Libs want to live in the past and blame Bush and continue the stance, that Obama is doing the will of the people, then they’ll wake up one day soon, in “Obama in Wonderland” Where the Rabbit will say “It’s too Late”!

      • JeffH

angel-wanna-be, so true…you listen, watch, filter the information and come up with an understanding of what you viewed and listened to.
Some just believe what they are told or what they read without the ability to filter out the BS.

      • http://www.americairemember,com angel-wanna-be

JeffH, AS YOU SAY, THEY FOLLOW LIKE SHEEPLE!

      • Smilee

        Jeffie

What you ignore is when you see it you cannot know what has been already filtered out or edited and changed, if you are filtering filtered information it can be quite a different outcome than if you had the opportunity to see it unedited or filtered. The best way is to watch news outlets that have no agenda as many who post you tube and shows like Rush’s on both sides gives you more accurate information. I have seen them there and the ones you are talking about on you tube etc and it is interesting how distorted these edited and slanted versions are. Also seeing c-span and then clips showing just a snippet picked to fit an agenda you see how really skewed they are.

      • JeffH

You just don’t have the ability to see the “BIG PICTURE”. Some of us do watch more than “YOU TUBE, BECK, HANNITY and FOX,MADCOW or OBEREGO or just listen to RUSH”, who I seldom hear unless he’s on my car radio which isn’t often.

      • JeffH

Smilee, what I do ignore is the socialist propaganda that is being delivered daily througout the MSM and newspapers. Why is it that there is so much information available online about Obama and his Marxist radical self with all of the connections to the endless Soros organizations and FOX is the only network that reports it correctly?
Call me crazy all you want, the evidence is there and I continually provide the links. You can trust government all you like, I no longer trust them or their intentions for America or myself or my fellow patriots. Obama is only the puppet.

      • Judy

Many times I’ve told the NRC and the Democratic committee the ONLY time they think we exist is election time.Amazingly they think we have money for them. I haven’t voted for an incumbent in many years; starting to feel like I’m the only one.C’mon folks it don’t hurt.
If they bring up the 2nd ammendment, I tell them both sides tell the same story. Then I ask them if they know why the ammendment exists and they always tell me to protect ourselves from robbers and losing our homes. They have NO IDEA it was to protect ourselves from the chance of another tyrannical government take over such as England was back at the revolution era. Well folks! looks like we’re at that time again. This time it’s our own government, not England.

    • William Nealey

      you are so right Edwin,

    • JLC

Hi Edwin — Good man! You have read your history. The whole purpose of the Second Amendment is wrapped up in one phrase —— “–the security of a FREE state–!

  • http://www.personalliberty.com Scott

“…There were a lot of 80 and 90 hour weeks when I was younger and just starting in business. I had to do the work of two or three people every week to keep my company’s doors open…”

Hard work, sacrifice, postponed reward; Guess what political party you’re referring to? Just substitute Conservative or Republican for the tax-the-RICH and you’ll get a clearer picture of this administration’s agenda.

Additionally reinforced with your correct report of, “…the bottom 50 percent of filers—some 70.5 million of Americans with any kind of income—pay a minuscule 2.89 percent of federal tax dollars…”

I’d like to suggest a mass mailing pursuant to a blog I posted earlier. See http://wp.me/pjGfE-391 . It’s a step in the Flip This House process. Send employment applications from Denny’s McDonald’s etc. to our representatives and senators en masse via mail or email on July 1st so that they receive it in time for Independence Day, July 6th.

On my post, there is also a video that goes with that idea. Please feel free to take it up, use it, pass it on.

    • valricoslash

What a fantastic idea. Just get an application, scan it as a PDF file and attach it to an email.

    • Patticake

except that it’s July 4th in this country…

      • MikeC

    • William Nealey

I agree with you and I love your slogan throw the bastards out but you gotta remember they are not all bastards. some are women not to be confused with Ladies,

  • valricoslash

I saw a great bumper sticker. REPEAL The HILL, THEN THE BILL. This is exactly what needs to be done in Novemeber. As you stated, even repealing as few as 15 percent of the worst of the worst will send them all scrambling to the right to protect their “careers”. Our founders never meant serving in congress to be a “career”. One way to end this is to include an ammendment with term limits (since the irrational voting public can’t seem to do it at the polls) as well as eliminate the Congressional retirement system. We need them to come while their minds are fresh with new ideas, and leave before they get absorbed in the power that is Washington.

As my Congresman recently stated when asked why he was leaving his seat to run for a state-wide office in Florida: “I have to get out of Washington before I lose my soul.” Well put Rep. Putnam (R) Florida who is leaving his seat after only 8-years of serving. When first elected, he was the youngest in the House of Reps. I expect he will be Governor one day because he was smart enough to get out of Washington.

    • William Nealey

well put and so very true. kudos to Sen.Putnam. hopefully he will be your Gov. soon.

    • http://www.americairemember,com angel-wanna-be

valricoslash_it is my feeling, the young politicians that have never ran for office before, have no idea what they’re in for in Washington. They run on damn good intentions, but don’t find out what can and can’t be done, until their elected!__If they don’t watch their back and souls as you say, they will be swallowed up in the black hole like the rest in DC!__it take a special kind of politician to turn their hearts & heads away from sweet heart deals and the lies within it.

      • Marc

Would seem to be a lot of truth in what you say.

    • Judy

even after you kick them out of office they recieve a retirement. I say in order to cut ost stop their retirement. they have told us our social security that we have paid into for all of our working life will not be there so why should they have one?

  • Norm

The Nebraska bribe was removed from the bill before it was passed. Admitedly, there are still a lot of shady deals in the law.

Maybe, just maybe, if the Republicans would have participated in the process instead of whining and ranting we could have cleaned the bill up and improved it.

    http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/03/19/politics/main6314677.shtml

    • valricoslash

So that mean the Uncle Ben’s vote to end debate, was all for naught. Obama got what he wanted, the ability to pass this affront to Americans with a mere 51 votes. Shame on Nelson, Landreau, and the other who took thes BRIBES. Frankly, they should all be arrestd and jailed like the common theives they are.

    • Warrior

      Chip, my hand is up.

Norm, where have you been the past year?

      • s c

Warrior, Normy hides behind the skirts of his heroes. He doesn’t always throw in that predictable ’8 years of Bush’ crap, but he’s right on the edge. When Normy can talk about the many faults of the sleazoids on his side, I’ll consider looking at him as someone who is better than a wacked-out, ultralib progressive (I’ll not be holding my breath waiting).

    • George E

      Norm,

You are partially correct. If the Republicans had been “allowed” to participate in the process, the current law would have been vetted more thoroughly and the bill would have been improved. Remember, Republicans offered 80 amendments to the recently passed bill, that the Democrats gleefully rejected without debate or consideration. They just wanted to get the bill passed as quickly as they could, warts and all.

      • Norm

        George E
The amendments were offered, after a year of debate, simply to impede the passage of any bill. They were mostly nonsense changes aimed at causing the Senate to revote the entire bill. The party of “no” shot themselves in the foot(or maybe a little higher).

      • George E

        Norm,

Surely you agree in hindsight that if the Democrats had adopted a strategy of creating a bipartisan bill from the first instead of drafting the bill by themselves and pushing it through Congress as quickly as they could, counting only on getting Democrat votes, that the bill would have been vetted more thoroughly and a better bill would have been passed. Many of the Democrats in Congress admitted throughout the process that they didn’t even know what was in the bill before they voted for it. How in the world can anyone think the bill was thoroughly vetted with that going on?

      • Norm

DeMint, McConnel, Boehner, Cantor all vowed, from the day that Obama was elected, to destroy him. It had nothing to do with Healthcare. It had to do with gaining power.
The healthcare law leaves much to be desired. It is a not liked by the right, the left, or the physical conservatives in either party.
At least it’s a start in a direction that has to be traveled.

      • George E

        Norm,

The Republicans who have declared that they want Obama to fail have explained to my satisfaction that they want Obama’s “policies” to fail. He is driving a hard-left agenda which conservatives just can’t stomach. In that, I agree with the Republicans. I’m really concerned about Obama’s “big government” solutions to every problem. I try to be open minded and give people the benefit of the doubt, but in his case, I’m afraid I just can’t cut him any more slack. He’s too far off track for my level of comfort.

I don’t think the current healthcare law is the right path to travel. It simply gives the government too much power over our healthcare system, while not really doing anything substantial to cut costs or improve quality. Heck, we could have simply paid for healthcare for the few Americans that truly need help paying for healthcare at a lower cost to the taxpayer and certainly in a much less intrusive way than this law goes about it.

      • JeffH

Normy says: “DeMint, McConnel, Boehner, Cantor all vowed, from the day that Obama was elected, to destroy him. It had nothing to do with Healthcare. It had to do with gaining power.”
Maybe the smell of a Marxist rat and further socializing America had a small influence in their “vow”!

      • Hugh Jordan

Calling Obama a Marxist is a ludicrous as those on the left calling Bush a Nazi.

Let’s get the rhetoric back to RATIONAL levels.

      • George E

        Hugh,

I’d also like to keep the tone of these discussions civil as well. However, in the spirit of trying to be objective, Obama may not be a Marxist, but apparently a number of his Progressive friends are self-professed Marxists, or admirers of Marxist leaders and philosophies. That, along with the fact that he has demonstrated he believes in “big-government” solutions to every problem, makes him suspect as being a Marxist, Socialist, Fascist, or at least sympathetic with those political philosophies.

      • JeffH

Hugh Jordan, prove me wrong! I just go where good, solit information takes me. Ludicrous? Not at all.

      • MikeC

        George,

It doesn’t matter! This IS, WAS, and WILL always be unconstitutional! Putting lipstick on yet another tax, and a take-over of Government via the Insurance companies, is still a Crime of treason! So, personally, the difference in having the RINO’s vote, or contribute to the bill, would just help us identify who needs to be drawn and quartered!

      • eyeswideopen

George, for Goodness sake, my husband admires Tiger Woods, but that doesn’t mean he himself is a sleaze ball. Now you people have taken it to a new level. I guess if you have ever read something that is not on the conservative approved reading list, then you are a Marxist? If you know someone who has read an unapproved book does that also make you one??? You people are taking quilt by association way too far. How in the heck can you accuse others of being narrow minded and Marxist, with attitudes like that? This is still a free country last time I checked. You better pray none of your children ever read porno or you’d be in trouble, guilt by association.

      • George E

        Eyes,

Good point. However, in Obama’s case it doesn’t seem to me like his associations with radicals is a casual thing. It appears to me that he has a history of these associations, so I don’t think it’s a stretch to think that Obama either agrees with them or is in sympathy with them. You’ve heard the saying “birds of a feather.” If Obama isn’t a radical himself, then he needs to work overtime building confidence with those of us that suspect he may be.

      • Michael J.

        EWO,
Your analogy between your husband and Tiger Woods doesn’t fly. Was your husband’s parents golfer’s? Was your husband’s grandparents golfer’s? Was your husbands teenage mentor a golfer? When and if your husband went to college did he seek out golfing professors? When it came to a spiritual advisor, did your husband seek a golfing pastor?

Barak Obama’s parents were both Communists. Barak Obama’s grandparents were both Communist. Barak Obama’s teenage mentor was known poet and communist Frank Marshall Davis. In his own words, Barak Obama stated that when he entered college he sought out Marxist Professors. Barak Obama’s spiritual advisor for twenty years was the Rev. Jerimiah Wright who is a Marxist.

Barak Obama has never had a chance or choice to be anything but a Marxist/Communist.

      • Joe H.

        Norm,
With that comment I can see you didn’t look up HR 956 like I suggested!!! It was submitted about the same time as 3200 was!!! What’s the matter norm don’t know how to look up things???

      • Smilee

        Willy

Isn’t it interesting that in 2003 with that Medicare bill the same thing was done and a lot more back room deals were made then than now. The republicans took the vote at 3 in the morning for a 15 minute vote and then kept the board open until 6 that morning until they got the five extra votes needed to pass it, that was done by Tom Delay also known as the “Hammer” and he made many of these type of deals to get the votes he needed, and did and passed it. To date it is still regarded as the most sleazy back room deals ever made, Other than on the floor and in committee I have I have never seen anyone discuss any bill in public except on this bill, one time Obama met with the republican caucus before camera’s answering their questions and the second time with members of both parties before the cameras all day discussing it. A year ago on Obama came to Capitol Hill and met with the Republican caucus behind closed doors on health care, guess what before the meeting the Minority leader sent a email to all his members no matter what Obama says we are going to oppose it. That was what they decided before any thing on Health Care was done. It takes two to tango and the republicans refused to tango, from the beginning no matter what they were going to sit this dance out and did. Law making has always been back room deals and horsetrading and reading here you would think the democrats just invented it. Actually this was probably a much more open process than most. The funny thing about this site they do not seem at all interested in promoting open and honest debate and is more about just tossing out red meat to their followers to keep them fed and artificially inflated with this nonsense.

      • JeffH

you are talking about the cornhisker deal, what about the Louisiana purchase?our senator gave away our stata to the communists for 100 million, which will cost the state trillions of dollars. To our shame I think she has about two more years before we can kick her out.How much more damage can she do in two more years????

    • William Nealey

another good point Grover. and I hope you people will remember it come election day as I intend doing here in N.C. with sen hagan.

      • Les

Hagan has 4 more years. I would not count getting her out then. She is just another “SHILL” for Obama. I have her several e-mails but always get the same form letter back. The other politicians letter at least addresses the problems.

      • Palin12

William, I get the greatest prize of all in November: throwing Dirty Harry, D-Nev out. Maybe that will wipe that smirk off Obummer’s face when he loses his Senate Majority leader! Harry is about to be Daschled!!

      • MikeC

I trump you, Palin12…I get to throw Pelosi out! ;)

      • Palin12

Please do! Dina Titus in NV needs to go too. She caved in under pressure from Madame Pelosi and voted against the wishes of her constituents.

      • tedcrawford

Good luck with that Mike! In a few months you’ll have acorn,I mean a.h.c.a., move on, organize for america et al, over there dragging pelosi’s constitutents out of their holes and hoseing them down and dragging them to the pols! I hope your district is successful at getting the real tax paying people out to vote!

      • Joe H.

        tedc.
I hope a few of those ACORN types get their assets whipped good and square!! Maybe that will make them think twice before messing with honest voting Americans again!!!

      • Judy

do you realize they are looking into giving convicts in prison the right to vote because they believe they are mostly democrates?

      • Palin12

        in addition to amnesty!

  • Barb

It should be noted that the first outcries came from the state of Nebraska and it’s Governor declined the “favor” immediately! Also Uncle Ben as he is known in the state now is a dead duck as far as his political career goes in Nebraska! Nebraskans are still incensed by all this and will not let their ‘Uncle Ben ” forget what he did and how badly he embarrassed and hurt their state!

    • William Nealey

good point Barb. and a credit to the cornhuskers for standing up against uncle ben.

    • s c

You’re so right, Barb. Now, if we could get certain states [California, New York, Illinois, Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Connecticut, Massachusetts, etc.] to see their ‘leaders’ for the spineless puppets they are, maybe America could have a chance to change its course and get back to reality.
It’s not enough to have faith in elected people. We must prevent them from becoming career politicians.
THAT is the hammer that crushes America’s political monopoly.

      • Joe H.

        sc,
not all the Ohio reps are of that ilk. Latourette has stood against this crap bill since it was introduced!!!

      • JeffH

s c, as a Californian, I hope we can make some progress, here, at the polls in November. This state is pretty well over run with the liberal mindset, but there is really a big charge by the conservative movement and a lot of candidates that are putting conservatism ahead of their party politics. I can only hope for positive change.
I like Meg Whitman for governor, bt there are several issues that still need to be answered by her before I would endorse her.

      • MikeC

I believe there are 2 Californians aboard! People are awake here, however, most are confused! Not I, said the wiseman! But, if they somehow get the Amnesty Bill passed, forget it!

Likewise to you. You must feel out of place in such a liberal infested area like L.A. Central valley is pretty conservative compared to me growing up about 10mi. north of Berkely, but the people here are neighborly, friendly and a little old school.
Like every city they have drugs and crime, magnified by the gangs and body counts you read about in the papers. Nothing new to the southland’s crime problems though.

  • Ed

America we have been betrayed in so many ways by the DNC, its members and sycophants singing the sweet Siren song of progressive communism.

Oh, you remember who the Sirens were. In Greek mythology, the Sirens were creatures with the head of a beautiful female and the body of a bird. At a distance they appeared most beautiful and complete. They lived on an island (Sirenum scopuli; three small rocky islands) and with the irresistible charm of their song they lured mariners to their destruction on the rocks surrounding their island (Virgil V, 846; Ovid XIV, 88).

The attraction of the progressive movement is as devious, hollow and putrid as was the Sirens song. But the Sirens song was so compulsive and full of promise that sailors just had to hear it. Like a moth to light, they drove their ships onto the rocks in trying to reach that empty promise heard in the Sirens voice. In the same manner our Ship of State is fast approaching it’s destruction. The rocks are close ahead.

Odysseus is said to have sailed his ship to within earshot of the Sirens and having had himself bound to the mast and his sailors deafened by placing beeswax in their ears, heard the Sirens song and sailed by thus escaping their spell. Since the Sirens were said to be destined to die if anyone truly heard their song and escaped the spell, upon Odysseus sailing off, they flung themselves into the sea and drowned.

May the fate of the Sirens await the DNC and the “progressives” who have taken charge of it.

  • http://www.oneordinaryman.com One Ordinary Man

In priinciple, I agree that we should all pay a “flat rate” or simply a national sales tax. But given the hole we’re in, I believe that the wealthy among us, and I’m one of them, should pay more…but only if that “more” is going to pay down the debt. We must dramatically shrink the size of government, and get out of the foreign wars that are draining us. While I’m willing to pay “more” than others with lower incomes, I don’t believe that anyone should have to pay more than 50% of their income in taxes…and that means all taxes (federal income tax, property taxes, sales taxes, gasoline tax, etc.)

    • William Nealey

your a good man.and I do agree with you.Mr spread the wealth obama for all his talk have any of you heard anything about him spreading any of his millions? hell no and you aint gonna.he loves flying around the country burning up tax dollars for pleasure trips like datenights to New York for michelle, such inane crap as that,

  • RivahMitch

It’s irrelevant that they might lose future elections if they can inflict sufficient damage as to make it irreparable. “Out of office” is meaningless if the economy and our military are gutted when they leave. That’s what the Kenyan Marxist is betting on. That he can destroy the economy and our military before he leaves office. IMHO, he’s a very good chance of success, especially since, at the moment, the penalties for himself and his minions are limited to a very comfortable retirement with fawning media… Occasionally, even Louis Farankan may express a worthwhile idea.

    • William Nealey

yep you’r right. look what the clintons did to the FBI CIA and the Military and even the whitehouse on their way out, there are members of the clinton gang who should be in prison at this time. but George Bush was able to rebuild all three in spite of opposition from the dems. inidendaly that was one of the causes of 911. the clintons had so thouroly screwed up the CIA and the FBI the intelligence gathering was practicaly nonexistant,

      • Joe H.

        william,
You left out one department that was gutted as well. The VA was screwed up so badly that VA hospitals all over the country were places you DIDN’T want to go to if you were sick, injured, or suffering from a debilitating handicap!!!! It was truly disgusting the way these vets that had fought for us and given everything they had to give were being treated!!!

    • JeffH

That Marxist knows he is a one term president and his master puppetiers have helped create an administration that is capable of inflicting maximum damage. I don’t, however, believe that they factored in FOX and the strong public resistance they’re getting this early in his presidency. They might own the MSM, but the FOX was smarter than the “hound” this time around.

Don’t fall for the hoax that Fox News is on the side of the Constitutionalists. It is still part of the mainstream media, just not as blatantly socialist as CBS,NBC,ABC, etc. And how can you possibly lable Rupert Murdock as a “right-winger”? Check the records from the last Presidential Primary. One of the candidates to whom Murdock contributed was Hilary Clinton !!!!!!!!!!!!! Nobody on the side of the Constitutionalists would ever do that. Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh do a good job of exposing news about what is going wrong, but we need someone else to tell people what we can effectively do to correct the situation. Just supporting Republicans will not save the country.

Its a pretty cool thing actually, just watching these guys sink. Its like the more rope you give them, the higher the tree limb they pick to hand themselves with. It just goes to show you how out of touch with reality they are. They truly think they can manipulate the public and do whatever they want, and that we all should just bow down and kiss the ground they walk on and accept their evil deeds. They do not even realize, that America is paying attention, and that very soon all of these lepers will we wondering why they got voted out of office, because they just dont get it. They are out of touch with the common man. But truly, they continue to shoot themselves daily, and Im enjoying watching their self inflicted wounds grow by the day. So long libs, your outta here.

    • William Nealey

you got that right Lady, there are an awful lot of people having buyers remorse now. thank God I’m not one of them. I wasn’t stupid enough to fall for that change crap. the only change he would talk about was redistrubution of wealth. I have been sick and tired of a bunch of lazey dope heads living off the tax payers back. I firmly beleive in helping the need. but not the lazey,

      • Palin12

William, isn’t it amazing? Of the 10 richest members of Congress, 8 are democrats. Starting with John Kerry, D-Mass with estimated $215 million and along with his wife Heinz esimated $1.0 BILLION. Pelosi comes in 23rd with $25 Million. Al Gore lives in a 20-bedroom mansion with a monthly electric bill 0f $2,500 derived from fossil fuels. The point is, why don’t these guys redistribute their own wealth? They have huge expense accounts in addition to their salary, such as pelosi’s $100,000 bar tab.

      • Marc

Since the have so much money, they will be hit harder by new taxes on the “wealthy”. So I guess they will be redistributing more of their money. I don’t make over $125,000 a year…how many of the readers here do ?
One breakdown on wealth distribution in the US:

        17 % of households over $100,000
        7 % of individuals over $100,000

        80 % of households under $100,000
        93 % of individuals under $100,000

Don’t know why there is a 3 % discrepancy in the household incomes.
        I’m not a statistician.

William…if you weren’t ‘stupid enough to vote for Obama’,then I guess you WERE stupid enough to vote for a doddering old man who would have been the oldest elected prez ever who would have continued the idiotic Bush policies, and one of the dumbest and least educated VP candidates ever in barbie Palin…now that would have been real buyers remorse. You probably voted for the already senile Reagan in his 2nd term and I guess you don’t mind having a prez who can’t think or remember and a ditzy wife who ran the Whitehouse based on astrology…you people don’t learn,I guess you can’t.

      • JeffH

Oh poor dennisso, I feel your hate deep inside, let it go…scream at the top of your lungs…hate, hate, hate….

      • Palin12

Denniso….a hell of a lot of people voted for Reagan his second term, especially compared to dumbass Mondale who pomised a tax increase. Read it and weep! Reagan carried 49 states, Mondale 1 (his home state). 525 electoral votes to 13. Just about the biggest ass-kicking in US Presidential history!! Reagan ended the Cold War too, in case you’ve forgotten. And best of all, he got rid of Carter.

      • Palin12

Denniso…FYI….Sarah has the same level of education as Pelosi…Bachelor’s Degree….no more, no less….same as me. You might also be interested to know that Abe Lincoln had the least formal education of any US President and I think he turned out pretty darn good!

      • Smilee

I VOTED FOR REAGAN TWICE, I NOW KNOW IT WAS THE TWO BIGGEST MISTAKES OF MY LIFE FAR WORSE THAN GOLDWATER,NIXON,FORD,BUSH 41 WHOM I ALSO VOTED FOR, THEN I GOT SMART AND VOTED FOR CLINTON, GORE, KERRY AND OBAMA

      • denniso

Palin…you think that a law degree is the same as a bachelors degree?? Hardly…and as for Lincoln, that was 150 yrs ago, this is now, when education is way more important than in his time…the world is substantially changed and much more complicated.

Smilie…glad to hear you learned from your mistake…don’t you wish some of the haters would try to learn and not stay stuck w/ the same old dogma???

      • Palin12

Denniso…you are mistaken, Queen pelosi does not have a law degree. She has a BA in political science from Trinity College (look it up on Wikipedia, moron!) She is not in the least more educated than Sarah, just older, crabbier and a drunk.

      • Palin12

Denniso…perhaps you were thinking of Hillary Pantsuit…she is a lawyer. I realize it’s easy for you to get pelosi and clinton mixed up, they are so similar.

      • denniso

No, I thought the comparison was between Palin and Obama, since that has been brought up many times, and Palin was on track to be VP and maybe prez….why compare Palin to Pelosi? You people are pushing her for prez and Pelosi is only speaker,w/ no apparent ambition to be prez.
Palin is a modern Barbie doll…one that kills moose and acts tough yet plays the Barbie roll of ‘pretty’ girl and wife. She’s still a joke…

      • zack

All the the man in the white house has is a dip $h!t degree. He is not a lawyer. He has not got enough sense to be dog catcher. Palin would make him look like a bigger idiot than he already is.

      • Nightowl872

I am curious, ALL records of obama’s are sealed, so HOW do you know he has any degree??

      • zack

Because we would find out then that he is not a born US citizen. That would also prove that he received Government loans while being a citizen of Kenya. His birth place. Wake up dude

      • Palin12

denniso, you are revealing your idiocy more and more everyday! This discussion from the very beginning was comparing Sarah’s educational level with Pelosi’s, not Obama’s. I pointed out both women have BA degrees and no more. I never once mentioned Obama, and even his education is questionable. Now would you mind informing me what law school did pelosi go to? You liberals better wake up and see the writing on the wall. All of your arguments center around only two things: racism and intelligence. Keep calling your opponent a racist and keep informing us what an uneducated person your opponent is. Sorry, we all see through it and you better come up with something original cause it just won’t work anymore.

      • http://YAHOO.COM Sue C

Hey, Palin 12! How come you know everyone’s personal business, in minute details? How much of your own, do you know? People like you never GET UP/GET RICH, IN LIFE, because they are busy minding other people’s business! Again, I repeat! Get a life!

America is not about Democrats/Republicans! It is about who will get the job, “done.” As far as I can see, way back to the early 80s, the only thing I saw your republicans do, was fill their pockets, and their rich friends’ pockets, and trampled the rights of the poor! It is quite obvious you were not born as yet, so you have no idea, what white republicans did to all other peoples! More than obvious, is the fact that you are white, and usually white people do not think other people are people!!!!

Do your research, and then open your mouth to BLA about the Democrats!
There are bad and good people in both parties, but worst of all are the Republicans who talk, “GOD! GOD!, at election time, and GO TO ALL THE CHRISTIAN CHURCHES, TO BLOW THE TRUMPET ABOUT HOW GOOD THEY ARE, AND THE PASTORS ARE USUALLY LOOKING FOR THEIR TAX BREAKS, FOR ALL THE MONIES THAT THEY BLED OUT OF THE POCKET BOOKS OF THE GULLIBLE, AND VERY TRUSTING AMERICAN PEOPLE, with one of their FAMOUS OLD LINE, Democrats KILL UNBORN BABIES!

YET THE REPUBLICANS (CONSERVATIVES/FAR RIGHT PROFESSORS), HAVE EXTRA MARITAL AFFAIRS, AND SINCE YOU KNOW EVERYONE’S BUSINESS, CAN YOU TELL US, HOW MANY BABIES THE REPUBLICANS KILLED IN THE ABORTION CLINIC, THAT TAX-PAYERS PAID FOR, WHILE THEY ARE HOLLERING LORD, LORD?

Also, Sarah Palin is a QUITTER! SHE LEFT HER JOB, AS GOVERNOR OF ALASKA, IN THE MIDDLE OF HER 4 YEAR TERM, AND YOU CALL YOURSELF, BY A QUITTER’S NAME, AND WANT A QUITTER TO BE THE PRESIDENT OF THE USA IN 2012? GIRL! YOU ARE NUTS!!!!! SORRY, TO BE SO HARSH, BUT YOU NEED SOMEONE TO OPEN YOUR EYES TO TRUTH! THANK YOU, “MISSY.”

      • Palin12

Welcome to the board Sue. Since you are new, I’ll be nice today. But only today. You have made a lot of assumptions. All the information I posted about rich politicians is readily available in a single web page, which is derived from the Freedom of Information Act. It takes less than 5 minutes to uncover it, if that’s what you call not having a life. I still have never heard any reasoning from the liberals as to why these rich politicians don’t redistribute their own wealth. There are also republicans who I don’t support, my own Sen. Ensign among them. His behaviour is reprehensible and has made him totally ineffective. I want all of the politicians to be accountable to the people. They were put there to serve us, not for us to serve them like pelosi’s $100,000 bar tab. Now, as to Sarah’s quitting. From the moment she was announced as candidate for VP, hordes of democratic operatives descended upon Alaska to dig up any dirt they could, and when they couldn’t find anything they started making up BS like Troopergate. Frivolous lawsuit after frivolous lawsuit was filed, all taking time away from her duties as governor, and all but one minor misdemeanor was dismissed. Rather than have the taxpayers continue paying a salary, she resigned. I would have preferred seeing Obama do the same from the Senate, where he was absent from Day One while out campaigning. He accomplished nothing in the Senate, not one bill did he author. The democratic playbook on how to win elections goes like this:1) Accuse your opponent of being a racist; 2) Accuse your opponent of being stupid; 3) When all else fails, blame Bush. They have been playing this game at least 50 years. They said Eisenhower was just a dumb military guy, while their man Stevenson was an intellectual from Princeton. Then Reagan was just a dumb actor, but Mondale was the real dummy from the beginning promising a tax hike. Then we had Bush who was so dumb he read “My Pet Goat” upside down. Now they use the same rationale on Sarah repeating the mantra over and over “Sarah is dumb” hoping a third of the population will buy it.
You don’t graduate from college, become a successful woman by your own hard work, then Governor of the largest state by being dumb. She knows how to use common sense to balance a budget, something the present occupant could use.

      • http://personalliberty.com dipper43

redistribution or “spread the wealth” is from Karl Marx’s teachings and is not the brain child of obama. obama studied under Sol Lewinsky who was a professor of Marxism. his teachings were to take over control of industry same as obama is doing and high taxes to take over power in order to be a dictator. Read Karl Marx and you’ll see where and how obama is following his exact teachings. More people need to realize this. Michelle also studied under Lewinsky and because of these teachings when her husband campaigned for the presidency was the first time she had been proud of America.

      • JeffH

dipper43, you got that right. Saul Alinsky is the liberal/progressive main man. When you read his rules, you understand and realize the common thread that binds the rant of these liberals to his teachings.

      • JeffH

dennisso and international corporate socialist…just for you two think alikes.

Barack Obama seems to have effortlessly achieved voter adoration, fresher, younger, more at ease within his own skin than she will ever be. He would appear to be as much a natural as her own Bill. It may appear to a great many observers that Barrack Obama is just one incredibly audacious, even lucky, albeit frighteningly charismatic dude.

One of Obama’s early mentors in the Alinsky method was Mike Kruglik, who had this to say to an Ryan Lizza of The New Republic, about Obama:

“He was a natural, the undisputed master of agitation, who could engage a room full of recruiting targets in a rapid-fire Socratic dialogue, nudging them to admit that they were not living up to their own standards. As with the panhandler, he could be aggressive and confrontational. With probing, sometimes personal questions, he would pinpoint the source of pain in their lives, tearing down their egos just enough before dangling a carrot of hope that they could make things better.”

These personal qualities are not the sole reason he is where he is, and I suspect the wily Mrs. Clinton knows this full well. I suspect it must bother her that Obama also appears to have mastered the playbook used by her own political teacher, the legendary amoral guru of left wing activism, Saul Alinksy.

Hillary has met not only her match in Alinsky tactics, she has met the master of bloodless socialist revolution, in my opinion.

JeffH, thank you for reminding me and giving me reason to take another look at Saul Alinsky. He doesn’t sound like a bad person.

Saul Alinsky, born of Russian Jewish immigrant parent in 1909, was compared in 1972 Playboy Magazine to Thomas Paine as “one of the great American leaders of the nonsocialist left.” Alinsky did not join political organizations. When asked during the Playbow interview whether he ever considered becoming a Communist party member, he replied:

“Not at any time. I’ve never joined any organization — not even the ones I’ve organized myself. I prize my own independence too much. And philosophically, I could never accept any rigid dogma or ideology, whether it’s Christianity or Marxism. One of the most important things in life is what Judge Learned Hand described as ‘that ever-gnawing inner doubt as to whether you’re right.’ If you don’t have that, if you think you’ve got an inside track to absolute truth, you become doctrinaire, humorless and intellectually constipated. The greatest crimes in history have been perpetrated by such religious and political and racial fanatics, from the persecutions of the Inquisition on down to Communist purges and Nazi genocide.”

Conservative author William F. Buckley said he (Salinsky) was “very close to being an organizational genius.” Illinois governor Adlai Stevenson, who said Alinsky’s aims ‘most faithfully reflect our ideals of brotherhood, tolerance, charity and dignity of the individual.’ ” Starting out as a part time organizer for the C.I.O. Union in the 1930’s, Salinsky ended up in organizing and founding community organizations around the country. Even Richard Daly, the Democratic Fascist Mayor of Chicago in the 1960’s hated him from Salinsky’s 1950’s onward attention to the African-American ghettos of Chicago, although Daley would later say that “Alinsky loves Chicago the same as I do.”

Alinsky feared the middle class could be driven to a right-wing viewpoint, “making them ripe for the plucking by some guy on horseback promising a return to the vanished verities of yesterday.” His stated motive: “I love this goddamn country, and we’re going to take it back.”

I have never paid any attention to Paul Salinsky. My own preference is the leadership style of Huey Long in the 1920’s and early 1930’s. The bankrupt thinking of Aynn Rand and Dr. Ron Paul, Doctor Death of the American economy, are lemming leaders of the right-wing viewpoint.

If we could just get conservatives leaders like William (Bill) F. Buckley back, we would be in good shape.

Radio…thanks for the informative post. I’m not sure what it is these guys hate so much about Alinsky??

        very revealing article JeffH! Thanks!

        Radio and Denniso,
Saul Alinsky, Born to Russian-Jewish parents in Chicago in 1909, Saul Alinsky was a Marxist who helped establish the dual political tactics of confrontation and infiltration that characterized the 1960s and have remained central to all subsequent revolutionary movements in the United States. Though Alinsky is generally viewed as a member of the political left, and rightfully so, his legacy is more methodological than ideological. He identified a set of very specific rules that ordinary citizens could follow, and tactics that ordinary citizens could employ, as a means of gaining public power. His motto was, “The most effective means are whatever will achieve the desired results.” Alinsky studied criminology as a graduate student at the University of Chicago, during which time he became friendly with Al Capone and his mobsters. After completing his graduate work in criminology, Alinsky went on to develop what are known today as the Alinsky concepts of mass organization for power. In the late 1930s he earned a reputation as a master organizer of the poor when he organized the “Back of the Yards” area in Chicago, an industrial and residential neighborhood on the Southwest Side of the city, so named because it is near the site of the former Union Stockyards; this area had been made famous in Upton Sinclair’s 1906 novel The Jungle. In 1940 Alinsky established the aforementioned Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF), through which he and his staff helped “organize” communities not only in Chicago but throughout the United States. IAF remains an active entity to this day. Its national headquarters are located in Chicago, and it has affiliates in the District of Columbia, twenty-one separate states, and three foreign countries (Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom). In the Alinsky model, “organizing” is a euphemism for “revolution” — a wholesale revolution whose ultimate objective is the systematic acquisition of power by a purportedly oppressed segment of the population, and the radical transformation of America’s social and economic structure. The goal is to foment enough public discontent, moral confusion, and outright chaos to spark the social upheaval that Marx, Engels, and Lenin predicted — a revolution whose foot soldiers view the status quo as fatally flawed and wholly unworthy of salvation. Thus, the theory goes, the people will settle for nothing less than that status quo’s complete collapse — to be followed by the erection of an entirely new system upon its ruins. Toward that end, they will be apt to follow the lead of charismatic radical organizers who project an aura of confidence and vision, and who profess to clearly understand what types of societal “changes” are needed.

When Marxist/Leninism evolved into Political Correctness in a communist think tank called The Frankfurt School in 1923 Germany then moved to Columbia University in New York, New York in 1933, Saul Alinsky was there. He later became a major therorist associated with the school before writing the liberal bible, “Rules for Radicals” which inspired the careers of Hilary Clinton and Barak Obama.

If this is an inconvenient truth for you, to steal a line from a unsucessful weatherman, then sobeit!

      • denniso

Yep, Hillary and Obama are pretty radical…Hillary is a millionaire, secretary of state…Obama is SO left that he’s losing the confidence of ‘the left’. He has ramped up the war in Afghanistan and ignored our pleas for single payer healthcare…he has just opened up more off shore oil drilling…some radical, that Obama.
So what if people read someone who has learned how to organize and protest? So what if he wanted a different form or style of gov’t?
Don’t most of the hotheads here want a revolution in our country, peaceful or not?
I can read many people, alive or dead, w/o taking on all their beliefs…can’t you?

      • Nightowl872

Dennisio, so you know NOTHING about Saul Alinsky?? You paid no attention to the warnings during the campaign and still haven’t tried to find out what motivates him. ALL of obama’s appointees are communist. Those are the only ones he associates with.

      • denniso

Night…you are not sounding very smart…’All of Obama’s appointees are communist’??? Is that why they are bailing out the car co’s and wall street? come on, use your head for something more than spouting nonsense. Think!!! Just so you know, communists hate capitalism and wall street…Obama is trying to save your pension/savings and capitalism as well.

      • zack

denniso yea right, he’s trying to save it alright. For him and the rest of the democrats to fatten their wallet.

      • Meteorlady

denniso – you just have to follow the lead Marxist lemming and his followers you really don’t have to read just listen to them. They actually like it better if you don’t actually know what they are really doing.

      • denniso

Meteor…you’re so clueless,it amazes me. The rightwing is legend for following like sheep the fools Limbaugh,Savage, now Beck,Palin…you ppeople don’t read real history or study political science or economics…you spout dogma that comes regurgitated out of Limbaugh’s mouth. I listen to the fatcat drug criminal every day for a few mins and can then detect his words and nonsense in every rightwing rant…it’s like clockwork. Liberals/progressives don’t follow individuals except rarely…we actually read conflicting opinions and examine our own beliefs regularly. That’s why the Dem party is so fragile, the diversity and differing opinions often cause the party to implode…Repubs on the other hand are very homogeneous, very little diff between most and all ranting against the gov’t,unless they are in power,of course….

Gosh– After all these disclosures about how Saul Alinsky got to be “Friends” in Chicago with Al Capone, maybe this explains what happens when they never found the body of “Jimmy Hoffa”, who got ‘cross-ways’ with Communist Members in the Truckers Labor Union-! He just thought–that he was “Part of a Gang”–not a “party”-!!

    • JeffH

Chip Wood, thanks for a very well written article. You’ve nailed it one more time. Even though Washington DC continues to push and shove, I am really getting a gut feeling that as we push back at them they’re feeling it. It’s still a very long and bumpy road to travel and there will be a lot of collateral damage, but I do get the feeling that we can eventually stop the “Dam from bursting wide open” by plugging most of the holes these Marxist/socialists are making.
The Marxist president is losing a bit of his balance, but you can bet he’s got more tricks in his gigantic “Alinsky” handbag and his George Soros manual. That ,alone, makes him ever more dangerous to America.

      Beberoni, well said my man.

    • Judy

Let us not forget that this started with the Bush administration bailing out banks when they had overwhelming reply from the public prior to their vote not to do it. the Government has not worked for the people for a very long time.

      • Joe H.

        Judy,
And let’s not forget that there was a dem majority at the time also!!!
        It’s the GOVERNMENT period!!!

      • denniso

Judy, do you actually think that ‘the people’ know anything about economics or banking or high finance or what to do when capitalism collapses? If you do,then why elect anyone to higher office? Why pay to have PHD economists working for the gov’t? Would you really be comfortable w/ ‘the people’ deciding complex issues that they know very little about?
Do you remember that more than 1/2 of ‘the people’ didn’t want to invade Iraq and Bush didn’t listen? We elect leaders who are supposed to know or learn more about big issues than we do…

      • Michael J.

        Denniso,
It’s not about “hi finance or economist with PHD’s”, it’s about fundamentally changing America into Karl Marx’s wet dream utopia of Communism. You wouldn’t recognize Communism if it hit you with a hammer and sickle!

      • denniso

Your comment above seemed pretty sane…this one,you appear to be unhinged again. No one is turning the country into Marx’s dream, unless you mean Bush, who jammed through the trillion $ drug plan?
The healthcare plan that just passed was in response to the failed market based system that left millions uncovered and millions losing their homes due to the obscene costs of illness. Can’t you demagogues
understand that if the ‘free market’ healthcare system worked there would have been no demand for any cahnge at all…it’s broken, because of individual greed and institutional greed and self interest.

      • Meteorlady

Judy – you need to read the time line. Bush bailed out AIG, and started looking at the big banking institutions. Obama was the cheer leader for this and gave them more once in office.

Obama distinguished his plan from Bush’s by adding some complicated terms such as “bad Bank”. His plan though, was exactly like Bush’s. So Obama upped the price to US taxpayers by $2.5 TRILLION more to buy the garbage loans. Many urged Obama to assert ownership over the amounts given to the banks. He did not, leaving the same shareholders and inept mangers in place. Then Obama actually encouraged banks to increase their lending, but did not tell the banks how they should spend the government money.

Why did Obama ignore the advice of nationalization? Simple – he completely shared Bush’s concept of free market and was afraid so early in his presidency to “nationalize”. Some people believe that Obama will ultimately have to nationalize insolvent banks. Other, leading economics professors, believe these banks should have been left to fail or broken up because the are too big. Most also conclude that government handouts to big corporations have utterly failed and Obama was wrong to increase the government spending for this.

Finally, Obama spent more in his first six months than ALL PRESIDENTS combined and you just simply can’t blame that on Bush. Bush had the Democrat’s budget imposed during his last two years in office and during the first year of Obama’s presidency.

      Hey Berberoni, and EVERYONE,

Please check out http://www.articlesoffreedom.us/ThePlan.aspx . There are BIG PLANS scheduled at every STATE CAPITAL on APRIL 19, 2010, to take back our country, legally, and peacefully, by serving the elected officials with our petitions of CONSTITUTIONAL VIOLATIONS against WE, THE PEOPLE!!!! This is the best plan that I have heard of so far, and if Obama has very much more time, I am really concerned that it will be a whole lot harder, if it is ever accomplished!!!!!!!! PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT Y’ALL THINK ABOUT “THE PLAN”!!!! THANKS!!!

      Sincerely,

IT SUCKS, THE WORK OF A SICKO OR BUNCH OF SICKOS, IF ITS A CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION YOUR AFTER YOU NEED 34 STATES TO VOTE FOR ONE, AND IF YOU HAPPEN TO GET ONE YOU WOULD NEED 3/4 OF THE CONVENTION TO APPROVE ANY CHANGES. WHO EVER WROTE THIS GARBAGE TOTALLY MISUNDERSTANDS THE CONSTITUTION AS IT IS NOW, THIS IS THE WORK OF SICKOS AND THE FOUNDING FATHERS WOULD BE TURING IN THEIR GRAVES AS IT WOULD UNDUE ALL THEIR GOOD WORK THAT THEY ACCOMPLISHED. YOU COULD OF AT LEAST HAD A LAWYER HELP YOU AT LEAST IT WOULD WOULD A LEGAL MANEUVER, AS THIS IS PURE GARBAGE, PLEASE TREAT IT FOR WHAT IT IS, PURE GARBAGE AND BECAUSE IT IS GARBAGE IT WILL IN THE END BE DISPOSED OF AS GARBAGE. THE ONLY POSITIVE THING ABOUT IT AS IT WILL SHOW AMERICANS HOW RADICAL THOSE THAT PUT THIS TOGETHER REALLY ARE. THIS IS REALLY SICK, NOT JUST MIXED UP PEOPLE BUT REAL SICK PEOPLE.

        1. Each of us, beginning with ourselves and our family, set apart a day of fasting, weekly, monthly or whenever, to appeal to and to meditate and pray for the blessing of Divine Providence, in guiding our steps and assisting us in our struggle against the enemies of liberty, in reclaiming our freedom, and to encourage our friends and neighbors to do the same;

        2. Encourage your minister, priest, rabbi, or other religious or spiritual leader to lead their congregation in a monthly day of fasting, meditation and prayer, for the blessing of Divine Providence to guide the success of our efforts;
