Vitamin D Supplementation Linked To Lower Heart Disease Risk

March 29, 2010 by

Vitamin D supplementation linked to lower heart disease riskThe growing list of health benefits associated with vitamin D supplementation became more extensive at the recently held American College of Cardiology’s 59th annual scientific session in Atlanta. According to a new study, consuming the sunshine vitamin can help ward off heart disease in people with low blood levels of the nutrient.

In the study, researchers from the Intermountain Medical Center Heart Institute in Murray, Utah, monitored more than 9,400 patients who exhibited low vitamin D levels in an initial blood test.

After one year of follow-up, a total of 47 percent of patients had increased their nutrient levels through supplementation to more than 30 nanograms per milliliter, which is generally considered normal.

The research team found that those who boosted their vitamin D levels were 33 percent less likely to have a heart attack, 20 percent less likely to develop heart failure and had a 30 percent lower risk of dying between doctor visits.

"Although randomized trials would be useful and are coming, I feel there is enough information here for me to start treatment based on these findings," said lead author Brent Muhlestein, quoted by Health Day News.

While your getting your daily sun shine, take a good brisk walk, that way you kill two birds with one stone, Viti D and cardio, that brings up the BMR that starts the fat burning.

Also it helps if you eat a lot of fresh foods, non canned or packaged / or frozen. Also add in a good 30 minutes in the early morning in your garden working on your fresh veggies and herbs.

I’d like to hear how the FDA or the AMA – or any other ‘scientific group’ – will try to explain or defend the idea that an American MD can be trusted with dispensing vitamin supplements to Americans when they DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE SUBJECT. At NO time has the AMA (or the FDA) ever considered this to be a good idea – until recently. Why are
politicians exerting pressure NOW? Is this an extension of Obummercare? Are the AMA and the FDA aware that many suppplement makers have standards that are as high as any drug manufacturer?
Neither the AMA nor the FDA has enough integrity to pursue this matter. American MDs have only recently begun to think that schools do not need pop vending machines. If American MDs can only now fathom what is so WRONG with the idea of sodas being sold at schools, then it follows that MDs are not competent and can’t be trusted with dispensing vitamin supplements to anyone – let alone ADULTS.

What would be the daily dosage of the supplement?

About twenty to thirty minutes under the noon day sun in short sleeves and shorts WITHOUT SUNSCREEN should just about do it. Don’t get sun burned! There is 400 IU in my daily ALIVE vitamins but I take an additional 4,000 IU daily in the winter when it is to cold to go outside for lunch. I also take a skimpy tablespoon of Carlson’s Lemon flavored cod liver oil from Norway. There is a growing body of scientists who believe what we call flu is actually or primarily a Vitamin D-3 deficiency disease.

    This fact:
    http://healthfreedoms.org/2010/03/24/no-deaths-from-vitamins-minerals-amino-acids-or-herbs/

Yet, the Government is doing their best to get their hands on regulating our supplements (led by John McCain, the RINO).

Why we need to learn about growing our own if at all possible!
