Obama’s Real Agenda and Why the Stimulus is Money Well Spent

March 10, 2010 by

Obama’s Real Agenda and Why the Stimulus is Money Well Spent

Last month marked the one-year anniversary of the stimulus bill, or the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act, passing into law.

It was to cost a whopping $787 billion. True to form it has actually cost more, some $862 billion.

The question remains: did it work, or at least did it work well enough to seed recovery? The Federal Reserve doesn’t believe it did.

According to the Globe & Mail, “We have an economic recovery that (Fed Chairman) Mr. Bernanke does not believe is self-sustaining.”

Then again, how could Bernanke think otherwise? Consider that:

  • The United States dollar continues to break down against other currencies while gold is near its all-time high. Meanwhile, prices for raw materials jumped 50 percent last year, more than doubling the advance in the S&P 500. That was their best year since 1971.
  • Mortgage applications for new homes are down 13 percent from last year and were down 30 percent the year before. This despite record low interest rates and housing prices that are cheaper than they have been in a generation.
  • Even with Soviet-style financing, many banks’ balance sheets remain weak. More than 140 banks failed last year. The potential exists for hundreds, perhaps even thousands of more banks to fail over the next two years.
  • U.S. unemployment is running at 9.7 percent and the true unemployment rate is more than double if you count those who have given up looking for work and the underemployed. According to The Atlantic that is the highest unemployment rate since the 1930s.

The only good news is that personal spending grew faster than expected in January by 0.5 percent—the fourth consecutive monthly rise. Wait… wasn’t it too much spending that got us in trouble in the first place?

Of course it was, but Americans are not spending frivolously says Keith Hembre, chief economist with First American Funds in Minneapolis. “This is not a credit binge. Bank loans continue to contract.”

According to Hembre, Americans are pulling cash out of their savings accounts just to get by.

But wait, our government has a solution. If you said more spending you are not clairvoyant, just cognizant.

Most of the Democrats simply can’t wait to spend enough to make the nation prosperous once again. Last summer, Nobel prize winner and liberal lapdog Paul Krugman was arguing that the country was in desperate need of another stimulus package.

“Getting another round of stimulus will be difficult. But it’s essential,” wrote Krugman. And if we don’t? Well Krugman and plenty in the Obama administration are ready to slam the Great Depression horn; that blaring siren that screams of soup lines, dust bowls and hobos.

Last year Christina Romer, the chairwoman of the Council of Economic Advisers, published an article on the “lessons of 1937.” That was the year that Franklin Delano Roosevelt started deficit spending in earnest.

There is a chorus from the Left that screams we need another stimulus package or we face Hell—an economic condition so severe that old-timers will recall the Great Depression with fondness.

One might argue that the Obama plan really hasn’t been given a chance. Heck, a trillion dollars here or there isn’t really enough to test a theory, is it?

On the other hand one might say that Obama’s plan has worked perfectly. Not because it has improved the economy, but because it accomplished exactly what it set out to do—to make the Federal government even fatter, greasier and more bloated than it was before. If that is the case then call it Mission Accomplished!

If you think I am crazy consider this: last year former labor secretary Robert Reich wrote on his blog that the recovery might have to rise from ashes like the Phoenix. Riech’s argument is that there can be no recovery until we find an entirely new model for the economy. He didn’t spell out what that model will be, but you can bet one thing—Big Government is a big part of it.

Ron Paul probably sums it up best: “The administration also claims that thousands of jobs have been created or saved by this massive spending bill, but these are just more government jobs, and counterproductive in the long run. Funding for the public sector necessarily comes at the expense of an overtaxed private economy… But the more the burden, the closer the government parasite comes to killing its host.” (You can read all of Dr. Paul’s comments in Whiskey and Gunpowder by clicking here.).

You can’t deny that the federal government is not only more indebted, but also bigger than ever. Last month The Washington Times wrote: “The era of big government has returned with a vengeance, in the form of the largest federal work force in modern history.”

According to the Obama administration the government will employ 2,150,000 employees this year, thousands more than when President Clinton declared that “the era of big government is over” in the 1990s. The growth is not coming to our overstressed military, but in the form of thousands of new civilian jobs.

I didn’t graduate from an Ivy League school like many in the Obama administration and I don’t even know who this year’s nominees are for the Nobel Prize, or even if they have nominees. But I do know that it’s named for Alfred Nobel—the guy who invented dynamite—and that is exactly what the Obama administration is playing with in trying to spend us toward prosperity.

Every government that has tried socialism has suffered for it.

I saw all I needed to see of it growing up in Canada. In the late 1960s Pierre Elliott Trudeau became Prime Minister. His Liberal government seeded socialism for 16 years.

Trudeau was convinced of the superiority of a socialist planned economy over free enterprise. He wrote in 1957, “As far as I go, it seems evident to me that the regime of free enterprise has shown itself incapable of adequately resolving problems posed in education, health, housing, full employment, etc.”

He made his vision a reality, instituting huge deficit spending, a massive welfare class and socialized medicine. And he damn near destroyed the Canadian dollar.

When Trudeau took office in 1968 the Canadian dollar was selling at par with its U.S. counterpart. By the time Trudeau left office in 1984 the Canadian dollar was selling for 70 cents U.S. That was the Canadian dollar’s first marked decline in 100 years! During the 16 years that Trudeau was Prime Minister the Canadian dollar lost more than half of its purchasing power.

Consider what would have happened to two Canadians: one who put $10,000 Canadian cash into his mattress and the other who bought gold in April 1968 when Trudeau was first elected. By June 1984, when Trudeau left office, the investor with the cash would have had the equivalent of $2,350 in constant 1968 dollars. Meanwhile our gold bug would have had $36,000—or 15 times more—in constant 1968 dollars.

If Obama’s vision of government is successful I have no doubt that the results will be even worse for the dollar and better for gold investors. It is ironic, but big creditors like China and Russia, who know better than anyone the ills of socialism, are selling off dollars and buying up resources.

They understand what Milton Friedman meant when he said: “If you put the Federal government in charge of the Sahara Desert, in five years there’d be a shortage of sand.”

Yours for real wealth and good health,

I don’t like that card thing either, sounds fishy to me.

    • J C

The “Real ID” card? It’s an evil thing in every concept. You’re supposed to carry this thing because it has all your “info” on it.
I can’t help but picture someone in a black uniform asking for it in a crisp Nazi accent…”You’re papers please”
      No way in hell!

      • eyeswideopen

JC, republican from Wisconsin, James Sensenbrenner is responsible fot the Real ID Act of 2005. He attached it as a rider to another bill, to get it passed. Obama and Ron Paul were flatly against this bill. It is being reviewed by the Judicial committee, as the dems have tried to repeal it on 2-28-2007 when they got control in early 2007.
        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/REAL_ID_Act
Sorry, but you can’t blame this one on the dems or Obama. This was a repub idea. Fl. is already trying to comply with this piece of crap bill and it is causing people who have lived in this state for 50 yrs distress, as some don’t have their original divorce papers from that time frame. Mainly women having problems as we have the name changes when we get married or divorced.

      • Jana

Eyes, he is a RINO, and we all know that their are several of those in office. Just like we all know that there are also several good Democrats in office too. There are good and bad among us all.

      • JC

You didn’t see me blaming anyone in particular did you?
I’m just trying to explain a wrong thing.
What the hell is it with you guys and your finger pointing any way. like a bunch of children…

      • JC

PS EWO, I am neither a misguided Republican nor a low life Democrat.
I figured it out you see.

  • Boo T

I wish I could say all that I feel. I’m a bleeding heart lib who has seen the light of right. I try to see both sides, but one side is painfully, clearly fighting to tear down our great country. It breaks my heart what those people are doing to our country and our kids and their kids’ future. And it’s not really one side or the other, because both have been infiltrated and infected with this progressive disease.
Like Massa said on Beck yesterday, the only way to solve this problem is for ordinary people, like myself,to get involved. It’s a pain the butt to do one more thing in your busy life. But it could be THE MOST important single thing you can do to help solve our problem. We turned our backs on the beast, trusting the cage to control it, now it’s broken out and is trying to run rampant. We can cage this beast, but we must be diligent and never let them do this again.HELP!!! Find a 9-12 group you like and work with them to help restore our faith in our country and maybe even in politicians (I try to be positive). It’s going to take time, patience and diligence.

Why is the federal governmant talking about taxing sugar? They want people to use less sugar!
Why then is the federal government talking about taxing business at a highter rate? Is it a TAX WHAT YOU WANT LESS OF?

    Lee R.

    • DaveH

      Lee,
They want to tax sugar, but at the same time they support the sugar industry:
      http://www.forbes.com/2008/06/27/florida-sugar-crist-biz-beltway-cx_jz_0630sugar.html

People, make no mistake, the proposed taxes have nothing to do with making us healthier and everything to do with finding more sources of revenue to fund our Leviathan Government.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I guess that they are to dumb to see that if you quit growing government, and actually scale it down, it costs less, and that if you stop raping business’s and leave them be, they will be more profitable, and hire more people, who all pay taxes and make purchases that generate taxes, that more tax revenue rolls in and there is more in the coffers. But for some reason, the democratic party cannot see or understand that, and it is as easy as 1-2-3-, A-B-C. I just cannot comprehend why they cannot see it and understand it.

      • American Citizen

It’s due to all the fuzzy math they use. Intellectual giants they are not.

      • DaveH

        Citizen,
I don’t think it’s intelligence they lack. It’s morality they lack.

      • usmadgirl

        Berberoni,

You know as well as anybody that they DO see it, but that’s not their agenda! You know as well as anybody what their agenda is! Doing the logical thing that even we uneducated or un-elite stupid dummy heads can figure out, is NOT in their plan to “fundamentally transform the United States of America”!

What did the people who voted for this scum bag actually THINK he meant by that statement? You don’t “transform” what you love & respect! I guess they just thought he meant that “evil Bush” would be gone, because until “Bawney the gay boob Fwank” allowed FNMA & FHLMC tank, our economy was pretty good!

Oh my God! I’m watching Glenn & it just gets worse every day! I mentioned this months ago about the government taking over our National Parks because they were tanking! Did you know that our wonderful government owns 650 million acres of OUR land now, where ALL THE NATURAL RESOURCES ARE LOCATED. How convenient!

And Nancy Pukelosi said a few days ago, “We’ll KNOW what’s in the Health Care bill AFTER it’s passed”! Well, I don’t know about the rest of you, buy I don’t want to buy “a pig in a poke”! I’M not THAT stupid & I don’t think most of you here are! This gets more outrageous & overwhelming every day – no, every minute of every day!

      • Joe H.

        USmadgirl,
They want you to buy the proverbial auto without seeing it or kicking the tires!!!!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Nasty Pelosi. What a piece of work. Living proof that God has a sense of humor, to give us boobs like that to laugh at.

      • Jana

        usmadgirl,
I saw that too. What are we saving all of these natural resources for? Our Children? By then it will be too late. But I remember that Obama stated during his campaign that electricity would have to go up, coal mining will die out, and fuel will also have to increase in price. He ran on this platform but all the gimme people heard were hope and change.
He ran on hope and change without telling in too many details what it entailed. However, those of us who listened to what else he said knew it wasn’t going to be good for our country.
He surrounds himself with Communists and Socialists and radicals like Bill Ayers who hates the United States. Again you know them by the company they keep. Besides the above, he surrounds himself with Chicago thugs and corruption.

      • DaveH

They are certainly not saving the resources for our children. If they were that kind, they would never even think of saddling our children with the huge National Debt they are creating.

      • Jana

        DaveH, Exactly my point.

      • JeffH

Simple government economics. Like health care, they want us to believe they’re working to reduce the cost for everyone except those they make the special closed door deals with.

      • Alan Clark

From sugar we get alcohol and from that we get a whole scourge of things. Fuel, perfume, whiskey, Vodka, Ginn, Rum, etc. You know, all that stuff that big government will need to celebrate.

        THEIR GONNA LOOSE….BIG TIME…

    • Mike In MI

      Lee Rodgers -
What is this? Are we in Mr. Rodgers’ neighborhood, now? Haven’t you heard Mush-sell going around spouting her anti-obesity crap in the fan? It has been decreed that each of us must reduce our caloric intake by 1700 C per day. That means sugary soda must go. No more sugar calories.

What they want instead is for us to take zero calorie NutraSweet (Equal), sucaryl and all the other poisonous artificial sweeteners. Our fat is repugnant. So, they want to poison us so we’ll fill up with toxins and water weight. That will make us sick and we’ll be thankful for Bomb’R'Care. It’s B’rakO’s way of thanking the PharmacoChemical lobby who bought his throne in the Offal Orfice.

A friend told me they’re making sugar the new hateful addictive substance campaign. Barak wants people to forget about tobacco and hate sugar instead – or worse. Then they won’t care if he smokes or farts or pees on his own foot.

A “tamper-proof” national ID card? If man can create it, man can tamper with it! And if there were such a thing, why does it have to be on a national level? Why not the state level?
O’Reilly is the last person I would listen to for advice. He is a milk-toast conservative who frequently leans to the Big Government side.
Raggs, I thought you were one of the people that wanted to get us back to Constitutional Law? This is playing right into the hands of a Federal Government takeover.
The illegals are a symptom of the disease. We don’t treat diseases effectively by treating the symptoms. The Disease is Big Government. The symptoms are illegals partaking in Social Programs that taxpayers’ fund. The Social Programs are the disease. Nobody, illegal or not, should be allowed to ride on unwilling shoulders (slavery).

For those who would say the illegals are taking our jobs, I would suggest that you look at Hong Kong, which has one of the highest population densities in the world and yet has a very robust economy.
Pick their link from the following list and read about them. Also notice their low overall Government spending:
      http://www.heritage.org/index/

The number of available jobs in our country are only limited by our imaginations and the meddling of Big Government.

We are going to continue down the road to destruction until people wake up to the fact that Big Government is the Problem, Not the Solution!

      • Raggs

        Dave…

I think you may have missed why I made that post including the link.

Sorry for the confusion but the reason I made the post was to inform everyone what the government is doing to us…
This id card is simply the mark of the beast.

      • Raggs

I do not agree with illegals coming into this country and leeching off of the American system and tax payers monies. However I refuse to have an ID card to prove I’m a citizen! This is hitler style facist control. Papers show me your Papers, where have you been and where are you going. This card is an excuse for further government control… Sure it may sound good on the surface.. Oh it’s for illegal immagration purposes..BS! BS! and BS!… Next you will not be able to buy, sell, travel or anything without this card. I don’t know about anyone else but I was born in this country as with all of my ancestors.. I have no reason to prove who I am.

      • JeffH

Raggs, agree. When will we ever be able to trust government? Probably never again in my lifetime.

      • usmadgirl

        Raggs,

I just mentioned the National ID card in response to Michael J’s comment above. I didn’t see yours & DaveH’s comment about it before I made mine. If it’s NOT the mark of the beast, it’s the beginning of it. NO, WE ARE NOT GOING TO HAVE IT…period!

I’m so sick of watching all this happen that I have a really hard time dealing with the people who allowed this to happen by voting these thugs into office in the 2006 & 2008 elections!

We all sit here trying to solve the problems with each other, but how do we go about solving it in REALITY! I’ve written MY representatives over & over, but they’re conservative (even Sen. Lamar Alexander who voted for the “jobs” bill, but is against the HC hoax)! I’ve even written Dumb-o-crat representatives in other states (one was Ben Nelson) begging them to vote with their values & not their Party, but they proved to me that they HAVE no values!

We’re sitting here waiting for the inevitable to happen when we should be out on the streets protesting this constantly. I know most of us have to work, but how can we just sit by & watch our great country being destroyed by a few evil progressives? WE are the majority!

What do we plan to do when all this unconstitutional crap is already in place, sit here & comment about it? We won’t be able to change it then! It will be LAW! I just feel helpless & worthless!

      • Joe H.

        Raggs,
that is what E-verify is for. Make it permanent and make it manditory for employers to use it!! We don’t need no stinkin national ID card!!!!!

      • Char

I would rather have the card than have them insert it in my hand or forehead. I will never consent to having anything close to that inserted under my skin at any place or time. They already have the plans, means and permission by the government for this proceedure, so beware.

        DaveH,
Just like gun control laws, nationalized ID cards will restrict the rights of law abiding citizens while all others will either ignore or circumvent it.

Yes, you are right, it will take years to undo what they have done and will require a very courageus person to lead us. I don’t see any on the horizon as of yet. And if they get this amnesty passed we may not even get the chance.

Its to late were toast, just a matter of time. prepare your families the best you can it shouldnt be to much longer.

Obama and the democrats are toast. We the American people, will rise back up and become strong again, as we will speak as a nation in 2010 and 2012, and show that we mean business. The democrats are going to pay for this, and they are going to pay dearly.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Well lets see Gnat, are they not 0 for 3 in elections since then? Its going to get worse for them, as they keep screwing up more and more. It might end up that they get so divided, they dont even let Obama run for re-election. I think they will throw him under the bus by then. That is the kind of guys you are dealing with on the left. Watch them eat each other Gnat. Its all about themselves with the left. You watch and see. You can thank me later.

      • JeffH

Spot on, any politician that hasn’t got it figured out is toast!

      • J C

        Beberoni…Amen to that!

      • Michael J.

        Beberoni,
You assume that we will be allowed to vote in 10 and 12. The case for Martial Law is being built as we speak in at least half a dozen different contengencies. Amongst those are public anarchy, natural disaster or terrorist attacks whether actual or false flag. Examine the man’s Chicago political history. He will stop at nothing to achieve his goals and worse yet, he believes he’s entitled.

      • usmadgirl

        Michael J,

My sentiments exactly! I’ve said for a year now that he’s going to give amnesty to all the 13 + million illegals who will all vote with the Dumbs.

This criminal who’s intentionally destroying our great country will find some way to avoid the progressives losing the election this year & his election in 2012. Why do people think they needed to pass another “stimulus” bill (with the new “jobs” bill) when they haven’t even spent the first one? They’ll use that money to campaign FOR their candidates & AGAINST the conservatives.

Now we have to face the National ID card issue. Can you say One World Government?!

Unless we have Divine Intervention, I don’t have an optimistic outlook for our future! Everybody needs to pray for forgiveness for ourselves & our country! God Bless America!

      • Michael J.

        USmadgirl,
The time for pulling punches has passed. We must now redistribute the truth. SHOUT IT OUT LOUD!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Its not him, stop giving him so much credit. Its his left wing liberal party. He is just the figure head. He can do nothing unless they tell him to do it. He has no viable leadership skills. Listen when he talks. Those arent his words, those are straight out of the democratic parties left wing liberal hand book. Straight up.

      • Jana

BB, I don’t know if I agree with that particularly. I think Obama is a narcissist and he is dangerous.

      • JC

No Vote = Lock n Load

      • scott

all that sounds great and wonderful, but nothing is going to change until the people take control again and make laws to control the politicians.no more self raises, med plans, retirement funds, nada, zip, zero.no more strong arming bills or laws thru without the other party.no more closed door crap.nothing

  • Bill Stewart

Obama has taken your country away from you and you are still talking about health care! Incredible! His presidency has done more damage to this country than Osama and the mafia combined. When they are voted out of office, there will be little that can be done to reverse the comittments that have been made e.g., loans from China.

    • s c

Obummer has taken America hostage. Now is the time to utterly resist him, as his healthcare reform SCAM is a battle America can’t afford to lose (literally or figuratively). Obummer acts like he’s oblivious to the FACT that GOVERNMENT is responsible for high costs, fraud, and lies too numerous to count. Let him play dumb.
He knows he has very little time to do his worst to America [not "for" America]. His masters are watching him, and the price of failure will be ‘interesting.’
Obummer is already America’s worst prez. What can be said about a politician who makes carter look like a choir boy? He wants America to be re-built on a sand foundation, where anything that sounds or feels good must be accepted as a ‘gift from the gods.’
The only way Obummer could be a greater liability is for him to publicly state that he’s trying to destroy us. Of course, he won’t do that, but I’ll bet he’s sorely tempted. Such is the mentality and true worth of a man who has no place in America.

Bill – no representative has been guilty of taking anything from you that you’ve not been guilty of allowing him to have WE THE PEOPLE ARE THE GOVERNMENT. What’s happened to us?????? No what have we allowed to happen to us – where have we gone wrong?

    John Myers,
Good Article, I especially liked the Milton Friedman quote.

  • John O’Connor

The same Reagan garbage over and over. Why don’t you move to Somalia where every one has a gun, there is essentially no government and health care is not even a dream. Nothing is all good or all bad. We have social security and medicare, both good programs, but NO ONE wants a complete socialist society. Why do people keep harping on this theme ? If McCain had been elected he would have used the same Wall St./Goldman Sachs advisors and would have put in the same stimulus package. That’s the only way out of this Bush Tax cut/spending night mare. You didn’t complain when Bush bailed out the banks. The last time we had a depression we had the second world war where the government spent vast sums of money. IT WORKED This is much better.

    • DaveH

And you’re right about John McCain, he wouldn’t have been good. He wouldn’t, though, have been anywhere close to being in the same league with Obama who is encouraging out of control Government Spending.
The problem is Big Government. We have gotten to this point, at which you Liberals claim the economy is in dire need of being fixed, as a result of Government Growth, not in spite of it. If the Growth in Government couldn’t keep us from getting to this bad economy, how can you possibly think more of it will do the trick?

McCain running on the Republican ticket is why Obama won. I mean come, did they really think a 150 year old guy who was a career politician, could get elected? Big mistake. Palin/McCain just might have been a better bet.

      • Jana

Plus, McCain stopped campaigning for a few days. He actually lost the election due to his lack of fighting ability.
The sad thing is in Texas we didn’t have a choice of who we wanted to vote for in the primaries. It was a done deal by the time it got to Texas. I think that needs to change too. How they run the primaries for Presidential candidates. It all needs to be done on the same day.

Im pretty sure that is what the democrat congress voted to do. No president can just do what he wants to do. It takes an act of congress. Yes, the democratic congress gave the banks the billions, as they did with GM, and Chrysler, and unemployment and Medicare and Medicaid, and they are all broke and going under, because of being run by the government. And you just might want to look into the truth of how great Ronald Reagan was for this country. The most prosperous times in history my friend, for all of us. And countries respected us again, until one William Jefferson Clinton make us a laughing stock.

As unemployement continues to rise every month the benefits of the ones that have been unemployed for a year or more are running out.
Even with extensions of benefits this cannot be substained forever.

I guess I just dont understand someone being content to be unemployed that long. Ive lost 5 different jobs over my lifetime, because of the places I worked at closing. Each time, I didnt even file for unemployment. I hit the path the next day, and started dropping resumes off all over town, and answering want adds in the paper, and I would take a job paying less, and work it and hunt for something better, and take that job, and end up somewhere where I could work up to making a good wage. Then 5 times the business closed. Im working now, and have been at the same place for 13 years now. My wife just went through 2 job changes because of closings in the last 3 years, and she was never off work for more than 3 weeks. I see jobs all over the place, people just have too much pride to take them, because its easier to suck off of Uncle Sam than it is to work, and basically, Uncle Sam has made it a better paying job to be on unemployment than it is to work at some places, and something is wrong with that picture. I do feel for those out of work, that want work, but there isnt anyway your going to tell me that within a year you cannot find a job, unless you dont want one. I can read. I see them in the paper. I see them in windows of business’s. I see them online. Ive got no college degree, and I can always find a job, and in knowing that, I guess I dont know why others that say they want a job, cant find one. Sorry, after a year, its high time to get a job.

      • Jana

BB, Now days it seems everyone hunts for a job on the net. No one goes OUT job hunting, they run to their computer. Personally, I still think going into the place of business and handing in the resume shows gumption and also gives them a chance to see the person asking for a job. I have heard the retort,”Well, you still have to hand in the resume to the receptionist.” But not all jobs have receptionists. The smaller businesses don’t. And if they did, ask if you can introduce yourself to the boss. Try anything, a little ingenuity goes a long way.

  • Mike In MI

    Well Said Mr. Myers-

We see here why any system not based on the Bible will fail. If you go full out all out capitalism – without Biblical Godliness, you get what the socialists have been prattling at everybody – runaway rapacious, avaricious, wreck-anything-that-gets-in-my-way (robber baron)greed. The Bible calls that attitude idolatry, the lust to fill up the bottom line to the highest level possible – and damn the consequences. John D. Rockefeller: “Just one more dollar” and it will be enough. This kind of capitalism hoards money, power, people, ideas, recognition and puts everything below acquisition of those commodities. The corporation becomes “god” and must bend everyone to the Bosses’ desires.

On the other hand you have socialism which says man should be or is inherently best when he is godless. But then immediately elevates a man or men who build the philosophy or run the all-controlling-government to the position of god. They make five or ten year plans and (because people are unimportant to them,or less important than “The Plan”) coercion must be used to achieve their goals. Individual’s dreams, hopes, wants need to be made subservient to the good of the masses, workers, “Greater Good”. Thus, freedom must be sacrificed or the one who wants to be free must be sacrificed.

The Bible works when it isn’t a state, family, or clan mandated religion. The individual must come to The Way God says He will bless and prosper out of the heartfelt desire to love and please Him. It has never worked any other way because the system (or individual) needs to come around to doing Things as He asks. An athist or self styled deistic person is not going to ask God for anything. So, “you have not because you ask not, and when you ask ou ask amiss”. God won’t over-step the bounds He sets.

I think that at this point in national developments this is our only way out. Biblical – Godly knowledge and wisdom – beliving and action. No denominations, dogmas, rituals or doubts. Each person responsible to study, know, believe and apply the best of what he knows. God hasn’t changed.

    • DaveH

      Mike,
I embrace most of religious morality as being the better path to a good life. But I don’t believe there is a God. And I do believe that people trying to force Religious ideals on others who are only harming themselves (vice crimes, etc.) has a lot to do with Big Government growth and the fix we’re in right now. We don’t need more religion in Government. We need less Government. Much less!
People simply like to make their own mistakes and it is understandably hard for them to grasp why it is anybody else’s business what they do to their own bodies and property. The Religious people with their zealous pursuit of forced perfection just drive those freedom lovers to the Dark Side.
I applaud you for striving to be a better human being, but it just doesn’t work to try to force other people to be smart.
If you want your Freedom, and I’m sure you do, then you need to respect the Freedom of others before you can expect them to respect yours.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Dave, while I totally agree with you on needing less government, I have to disagree in that I think we need to have God in government. Im not saying force it on the people, because Christianity only benefits those who willfully choose to accept Jesus Christ as their saviour. You cant force someone to think what they dont want to think, so Im not saying that. Im saying if our leaders have Christianity written in their hearts, then it would be a natural God thing for them to do what they are actually elected to do, serve the people, and do it fairly and admirably. The true Christian doesnt think of himself first, he always puts others first. He doesnt have pride, and the greed for illegal kick backs, and payoffs and all these crooked things politicians do. Of course, there are a lot of hippocrites out there, that give Christians a bad name, as I see them myself. But if our government ran this country from a true Christ like attitude, we wouldnt have corrupt government officials, and kick backs, and pork barrell problems, and special interest groups throwing money around corrupting officials to vote this way or that way. So in knowing that, I would have to say it would be a good thing.

Well said! Thank you & please remember me in prayer. I’m an independent real estate title abstractor. Work has been a little slow since September, but I’ve had 2 title searches this week @ $55.00 each! I have no other source of income; so I need your prayers!

Thank you for the kind words! I know that God’s timing is not my timing. HE’s never let me down even though I don’t deserve it. This is just a frightening time!

I’ve never been wealthy, but there’ve been decent times & really bad times. My business depends totally on the real estate market & you know how that’s going at this time. 48% of my searches are for refinances 2% purchases & 50% foreclosures! What happened to all the money that was supposed to let the banks refinance mortgages about to go into foreclosure. My business is like a roller coaster even in the best of times for the real estate market, but this has been the longest “drought”!

      • Jana

        usmadgirl,
The Gov’t. has started charging, or fining, you know another name for taxing the Banks etc. on any profits they make so they get bogged down and even though they have been mandated to make these loans, the Gov’t. is tying their hands in another way. It is a catch 22, with us as the victims. Thanks to Obama for another fiasco.

Look at all the greed and corruption and just plain underhandedness in our Government, and in society in general today. This is a direct result, of living without God’s directives. I agree Dee, and let us not forget, to pray our enemies, and those we dont like. Thats what we are called to do. I dont care for Obama one bit, but I pray for the guy every day. We all need it.

      • DaveH

You know you guys and gals can all live and worship God in the Libertarian Party. And even better you can live the life of Tolerance that Jesus Christ preached. Like Jesus, we Libertarians don’t try to force our morality on others. We let others live and learn by their own mistakes, and we don’t let them pay for their mistakes with other peoples’ money.
So, if you really believe in Jesus and his teachings, quit trying to protect others from themselves, get out of that controlling Republican Party, and make a difference for Freedom.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

And that is the biggest problem Dave, they pay for mistakes with other peoples money, ours. Its not right. Im ready to switch, as Im not tied into one party, but I am tied against the Democratic party, because they are an immoral lot. When I listen the lies that are continually spewed out of the mouths of Nancy Pelosi, and Joe Biden, and Barack Obama, and John Kerry, and John Edwards, Hill and Billy, formerly Ted Kennedy, and just the whole lot of them. They think they can say anything they want, blow out blatant lies, and expect us all to believe them like sheeple. I have no respect for them, and cannot and will not vote for them, and this is from a guy who was born and raised democrat, but fled from them 11 years ago. I do declare, they have JFK rolling around in his grave, and he was no saint himself. Im looking for a new party, as the Republicans have ticked me off, that if for nothing else, they failed to reign in spending and growing government, though it pails to what the dems are doing. I also do not like the way the democrats kicked them and kicked them and kicked them, and they lie there and take it, when they should be exposing all the dems dirty deeds to the utmost, but they dont seem to want to fight back much. If the Independants arise, they better have spotless guys, as the libs will send hundreds of private dicks and reporters to dig and dig and dig, and when they find nothing, they will fabricate things like they did against Sarah Palin, and get away with it without repercussions for it. They better be prepared to fight back, because if they try to appease the democrats, they will get blown away, as appeasement doesnt work. They need to show a strength on National Security, or we will start getting attacked right and left. I myself am against war, but I do believe when it becomes necessary, to actually go out and do it with all the force you have at your disposal, or dont do it at all. All these middle eastern terrorists countries making threats and coming after us, and training people to attack us, well, Im sorry if you all disagree, but Id have to turn one of them into a sheet of glass, and ask anyone else if they have any questions, and it would save a lot of lives in the long run. If you want someone to listen, you have to speak their language, so if the Independants get organized, speak a language of national security, a strong America, fair government for all, freedom, protection of the Constitution, the right to bear arms, to protect capitalism and the free market, Im all in Dave.

Dear DaveH (and all reading this who are of his opinion) -

Thanks for responding to my post with your pretty well thought out ideas and heart. Please realize, I’m not a proponent of compulsory anything. I’m convinced anybody who really wants to do things right (like you seem to) needs to seek a source of information, outside himself, that has a much bigger perspective and long-term ability to influence men’s affairs for good than we do. Such a person will usually look at contemporary religion, history, his own experience and then reject God – like you do, I did and many others also. The idea that most religions represent God is a problem.

When I was struggling with these things I found I first had to define what kind of God I wanted. I finally figured that anything less than a being who isn’t omniscient, omnipotent and eternal isn’t God. If that being is those things whatever It was doesnt

        Mike in MI

        Romans 1:22

    • Mike In MI

      Dear DaveH -

Thanks for responding to my post with your pretty well thought out ideas and heart.

Please understand! God never compelled me, you, Jesus Christ or anybody else to do what He wants. If your experience and training
lead you to believe God is a figment that is your privilege in this free land. I believed that for years until I got into the Navy, out of the great ease, comfort and protection I was afforded as a U.S. citizen. I was never significantly challenged as a kid. I think no atheist or agnostic ever has had or allows their beliefs, or existence, to be meaningfully challenged. (True, I don’t know about you, DaveH.)

I’m no proponent of compulsion – except justice (and, I see little reason for jails). I’m convinced anybody who really wants to do things right (like you seem to) needs to find a source of information, outside himself, that has a much wider perspective and proven, long-term influence on men’s affairs (for good) than other men (as sources) can muster. The idea that all religions represent God IS problematic. Remember, religious people killed Jesus Christ.

Struggling with such matters I found I first had to define what kind of God I wanted. I figured that a being who isn’t omniscient, omnipotent and eternal isn’t God. Any being that is those things need not be anything except loving, gentle, kind, helpful and patient – what (or who) can out-think Omniscient or overpower Omnipotent? If It is loving It would want a relationship with what It creates, so It would have left some sort of enduring Record of Itself. There would also be some evidence of that omnipotent ability at work in those having that relationship. I decided to hunt for that Record, relationship and evidence; it didn’t come to me. I knew I didn’t have it when I started out, but knew I’d never be complete without it – because I was somewhat aware of a big hole inside that I couldn’t define.

Biblical Christianity filled the bill. Pay no attention to what history touts as “Christianity(s)” of Western cultures. The Bible is an ancient Oriental record; understood and taught in that light, it makes sense. When It makes sense you can make sense of life. God doesn’t expect, or want, “blind faith”. Believing requires learning, study and understanding.

“The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.”

    • Warrior

      Spot on!

    • Doc Sarvis

You could have substituted the name Bush for Obama throughout your post and I would have totally agreed with you during the previous administration.

      • Conservative Carl

Obviously the rules that Doc Sarvis would like for this site is that anyone who posts negative things about what Obama has done must also post negative things about George W. Bush’s presidency.

You can be sure that in the past when Doc has critized Bush he also equally critized former president Bill Clinton! Or did he.
It is true that George W. Bush was not a fiscal conservative and approved spending programs we conservatives did not want; two of them the NCLB education bill and the Medicare prescription drug plan, the last one being the stimilus package for labor union and banks.

There now, Doc, I critized George W. Bush. Hope you’re happy.

      • Michael J.

        Physician, heal thyself.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Hey Doc, after listening to ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and MSNBC, along with every democrat that got radio or TV time over the last 8 years, I think there was quite enough Bush bashing that took place to last a life time. The propaganda networks of the democratic party bashed this guy, just to bash him, because realistically, they had nothing productive to bring to the table. They brought no answers, no solutions, no new plans, no ideas, just Bush, Bush, Bush. Thats it. Now its Obama’s turn, and you and your ilk dont think its fair. Well welcome to the real world pal, only this time, its the American people that are speaking out, and not the liberal networks, as they are very protective of their own. After one year, the guys record is filled with stench, and thats all there is to it. He is unqualified to be the president, and his staff is unqualified to lead this fine country. They havent a clue, and look at the messes they are creating. Of course, while your grandchildrens children are paying for what this guy does, you and your kind will continue the lie, and probably leave them writings blaming this all on Bush also. So sad you cannot see the truth. So sad.

      • Doc Sarvis

Since you called my your “pal” I would give you some advice. First, there is a lot of good information outside of the networks to listen to or better yet, read. Most television and radio news/commentary does not lend itself to thoughtful interpretation of global and domestic news. Second, I read selections from the full spectrum (right-middle-left) to inform my opinions. And just so you know, since we are pals, I’m an Independent and proud American.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

And I myself am starting to look the Independant way, as Im dead tired of the business as usual stuff that Washington keeps giving us. However, Im also sick of the Bush bashing, as that is all this current party did to get themselves elected. In anything in life, if all you can do is bash the other guy, that means you have nothing productive to bring to the table. I have again found this to be true in this instance. I admire the way the guy stood up for this country and wouldnt allow the enemy to punch us in the nose again. It needed to be done. I dont like the way they didnt reign in spending as I expected them to do, but I think all the attacks are just a bum rap rallied on by the left wing liberal media, and its old, he is gone, and they still beat on that drum, as they refuse to take responsibility for their current actions that are messing things up. Im for one not going to stand for it, and I will speak my mind. However, Im not locked into being a Republican, but I am locked into being anti liberal, as I see it destroying our country and the fabric of what we are made of. Have a good day sir.

      • Doc Sarvis

And they are still bashing Clinton as well. While bashing for the sake of bashing is non-productive, there is a need to understand the history of our situations.

      • Hello?

Doc, how in the HE– is blaming the past going to fix the furture, just an ignorant same old, I suggest that you get your head out of your behind and do something positive . Bet you are getting government help.

      • Doc Sarvis

I get the same government help all of us have. I use the Interstate, state, and local system of roads, I enjoy our National, State, and local parks, I benefit from safty regulations in food, water, air, and medical care, I am secure by the military when it defends the country (as opposed to what’s going on in Iraq). I can say that I never used unemployment benefits and hope that I never do. I am glad that there are programs including unemployment, the ones I’ve mentioned and many others. I am proud to be an American and part of being a proud American is to help to support the good govenerment programs that exist even though a lot of what I mentioned and refer to above is labeled Socialism. We all benefit from many of these government programs.

      • Jana

Well Doc, I guess you are alone in your feelings about Iraq as Biden has claimed this is one of the accomplishments that Obama can brag about on how successful Iraq has been.

      • DaveH

This country is being destroyed by the government programs that you think benefit us.
Government rarely spends money as well as the people they took it from would have.

      • Doc Sarvis

I really doubt I am alone. If Vice President Biden does not agree with me that is his problem. There are lots of folks who think the war in Iraq was a complete waste of too many lives, American and otherwise.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

You say we all benefit from these government programs. Let me examine this. Unemployment? Ive never benefitted. Social Security- I pay into it, but will never be able to take out, as it will be expired in 15 years when Im due my payback. Welfare – never collected a cent. Food Stamps, never collected a cent. WIC – never collected a cent. Hand outs from food banks or any government agencies, I have never collected a cent, allthough I have donated freely. Medicare and Medicaid – I have money taken from my check every week, yet I have never received a cent. The public school system – I pay and I pay and I pay, and my children have been out of them for 5 years, and I still pay and will have to the rest of my life, yet I get nothing from them. So, these programs, and believe me sir, there are many many others that give money to people who do not deserve them, and they have benefitted me in no way, shape or form, so I find your statement that they benefit us all to be in error.

      • Doc Sarvis

        Beberoni,

You’ve never been on an interstate or state highway? You are not glad we have the best military in the world? You are not thankful that children in schools are getting an education so that they grow up to become good citizens of this great country? You would want those who have lost their job due to no fault of their own and are down and out to sleep in the streets outside your house? Amazing! And in my opinion, very selfish.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

The streets and highways I pay taxes that are supposed to be used to maintain them, thank you very much. The school system I pay far too much taxes for, so they can build indoor swimming pools and football and basketball arena’s, and the school system is a real success isnt it? Its an out and out failure, because its not run correctly, like it would be if it were a private enterprise whose longevity would require them to do it right. Well, Unless your GM and Chrysler and the dems bail you out so that you will vote for them later. And being unemployed, Im sorry, but Its not selfish of me to expect people after a short time, to get a job. Ive had to do it 4 or 5 times now, as places I worked closed. And being that I have no college degree, and Im not a rocket scientist, but if I can do it, no reason others cant. Im sick and tired of people laying around, smoking and drinking and having a good time, while Im working and paying for it. You bet Ive got a problem with that pal. They need to get a job, and their are jobs, but see, people got this pride thing, that they are too good to work this job, and too good to work that job. In the meantime, the government tells them, dont worry, stay off work longer and we will just tax people more so we can pay you more and longer. Its wrong on so many levels.

      • http://Yahoo Dee D

No Doc – Not Bush. The mastermind was Cheney and poor Bush was the stupid fall guy for everything that came down the pike.

      • JC

        There’s some truth to that.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

You are correct and it is a scary thought, knowing that there are actually that many people in this country, that would entrust leading our nation, to someone that they knew absolutely nothing about. They didnt know where he comes from. They didnt know what he stood for. They didnt know of his plans, which he still doesnt have, other than to shoot from the hip. They knew nothing about this guy, except that he was suspected to be muslim, that he followed a racist preacher for 20 years in Rev. Wright, that he associated with a known domestic terrorist in Bill Ayers, that he associated with a known crook in Tony Rezko, and yet they still voted him into power. That is some scary stuff right there. Do your country a favor people, and get yourselves educated before you pull a lever in a voting booth again.

      • Nat

We knew plenty about W and elected Him anyway . He failed at everything He attempted prior to becoming president and then screwed that up

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Really. Hmm. Under Bush, my pay actually doubled in 8 years. In the first year under Obama, I took a 10 percent pay cut. But its not about me. This has happened all over America, and many have lost their job because of his recklessness, and many more to follow. The democrats caused the banks collapse, and you all want to blame Bush for that, instead of looking at the truth, ala one William Jefferson Clinton. We went to war to stop a madman, and did, because again, one William Jefferson Clinton turned a blind eye to it as they punched us in the nose again, and again and again, and did nothing. But then again, I can see by your post, your not interested in the truth, just Bush bashing, without mentioning one thing he did wrong. Clinton did a lot more wrong that what I mentioned, and if you care to examine my statements, be aware, the truth is there and I said it.

      • http://Yahoo Dee D

No Nat – every voter lost their vote in 2000. None of our votes counted because the Supreme Court put the man of their choice and party into the highest office in the land. I don’t know how you felt but I was madder than an old wet hen. To steal my vote and very few people railsd against it. WOW, smart voters. Yep, we’re definitely dummimg down more and more and not only in the class rooms either. Somehow we keep forgetting we are the Government. WHY is that?

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

That is not true Dee, and you know it. Every vote counted, except the millions of military votes that would have went to Bush, that werent needed.

      • Jana

BB, That is true. They gave the reason that the military votes got in too late. OK, if they got in too late, whose fault was that? The Military or the vote collectors ( I don’t know what they are called, ACORN)? The Military did their job, they voted. Plus, they were in a war against terrorism, and for their votes not to be counted was WRONG!!

    • thefedupamerican

Amen Borderline…Elections have consequences and we’re reaping those consequences now. I still maintain one should have to pass a civics test before being allowed to vote… http://www.thefedupamerican.com

      • Peggy

If a person is suckling at the teets of our tax-dollars for any extended period of time, that person shouldn’t get a vote. They’ve already been bought-off.

I’m tired of getting in line behind people with carts full of soda, snac cakes, candy, rib-eyes, and t-bones, hauling out a food-stamp debit card, then cashing a government check. Its funny, because these same people have cell-phones, pagers, x-box, and blingage.

If I am going to be paying for these bloated white parasites, at least make them eat healthy food, and take better care of their children. And when they try to propagate more parasites? Reduce the amount they scam from us.

I know what you are thinking….and yea, some people do need assistance for reason well beyond their control. But it doesn’t take a rocket-scientist to see the difference between helping someone who needs help, and enabling someone who could be helping themselves.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I have seen this also, and for years. These folks buy a cart full of beef and pork that I cant afford working, they wear nicer clothes and shoes that I cannot afford, and then they go out into the parking lot and get into a vehicle that costs 10 thousand dollars more than mine. And our wonderful politicians consider them poor and think we should help them out, while they are basically plundering the country. Thats what you folks that make a living out of food stamps, welfare and unemployment are, you are plunderers of the United States of America, and shame on you for it. Maybe the politicians will wake up one day, and actually reward those that work hard for their things.

      • http://Yahoo Dee D

I agree Peggy – With the exception of the poor little children born into this life style. They do not get to pick their parents and they cannot make their parents raise them the way they choose to be raised. I would like to see my tax dollars used to sterilize these worthless pieces of dung and stop the continuous breeding of deadbeats generation after generation. Kentucky has the right idea. They will give assistance, but if the female gets pregnant again they lose it all. But then again they move into a new area and start all over again.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I agree Dee that something has to be done. We have to stop rewarding bad behavior with cash payouts to people. There are far to many kids having kids, that cant even take care of themselves yet, let alone a child. And I too feel for this child. Why do we have to take a test to drive a car, but we dont to have a child? I really dont know what the proper thing would be to do, but something has to happen. The status quo of giving more food stamps and more welfare money to those who continue to multiply when they cant afford it, has to stop.

      • Jana

I agree with both of you.

      • scott

why have,nt they impeached the —- yet, since it,s been proven in countless states that acorn was committing thousands of voter fraud for him.especially since he was in charge of them.not to mention his 100,00 bonus from aig.come on.

Borderline devill, Interesting observation of what this old saying fits.

“The Mases have never thirsted after TRUTH.”
(Who ever can supply them with ILLUSIONS is easily their MASTER.)
“WHO ever attempts to destroy their ILLUSIONS is ALWAYS their VICTOM.”

    • Peggy

LOL. Very true my friend. But consider this, do you actually believe that tooth-paste can be put back into the tube?

Let me explain. This health-care power grab will remain intact, if they impose this upon us. You cannot trust the next bozo’s to repeal it, because they wont. Even if they had a political will to do it (which they wont), it would take a clear majority in both houses just to make it to the next bozo’s desk.

The repugnant republicans are no different than the demoncrats. They are two arms who share the same beast. When republicans are in power again, they will take advantage of the new power. The will of the people does not matter to them.

A campaign to repeal this power-grab, will be an exercise in futility.

RE-ELECT NO-ONE, EVER AGAIN, NO MATTER WHAT. This is the only way to stop corruption……that or/and bar lawyers from holding ANY public office.

      • scott

wrong, repubs are,nt as filthy and greedy no matter what the cost, like dems.the only way to stop corruption is to put rules and guidelines in place that they can,t break or use to control the other party.or us.they work for us remember.when you don,t keep a close eye on your employees of course there going to be corrupt.like any other office that works for us.especially the criminals with badges.the people need to grow some nuts and quit worrying about they,re little part of the world, band together and make it happen.thats how we made this countrie and the only way to keep it free.

  • Eric S.

Welcome to the magical printing press of Washington DC:
I simply find it amazing that with the wave of the magic wand of congress and the senate with the “lil” ole signature of bastard (illegitimate-not a natural born US citizen per constitutional requirements or at least refused to show the proof thereof) president that the wheels of the Great Printing Press can print out money with no substance to back it up. I can hear the roar of this Great Magical Printing Press and smell the smoke of the burning gears as it works industriously in hyper overdrive. No worry my friends it’s magical just like the magical debt bubble which is getting amazingly big. I just think that it is so cool watching this debt bubble grow with it. Just think we will get to see it work again in another round of magic just to hear the screams of that was so awesome all that money just seemed to vanish into thin air. But, it was so cool to see the magical stimulus of fantasy and just look at the size of that magical debt bubble. Isn’t that just awesome? I can hear the applause of all these wonderful magicians and all the slaps on each other’s backs ring out so loud that heck even the major news media sources join in. Everything is now just so peachy. I can hear the great magicians announcing thank you, thank you. Now the Great Magi steps foward and announces it wasn’t enough let’s do it again. Once again we are swoon to the magical presses mighty roar as all the magicians wave their magic wands. I’m so impressed. Does any one have a pin?
People need to wake up out of this fantasy!
Ron Paul certainly has the right message!

  • Dan Burke

It isn’t just our president. When people ask “how will government solve this for us” they are just following this path whether it be republican or democrat. What happened to Americans that would found, or find, charities to help the needy instead of looking for government solutions? Is to far easier to say I am penniless while watching my big screen TV and ask government to take away the liberties of everyone to give what I won’t. By the way, I only recently acquired a flat screen TV, paid in cash and in part as an investment in building custom computers specifically to work with televisions as their monitor…. Now to finish my “research” and put together something to sell, including finishing the registration of my business.

    • DaveH

I wish you could somehow keep us posted about the Government hurdles you have to clear on your way to creating and marketing your product.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

And you and I both know he will face more hurdles than the guy going to get his free handout. Way more, and it shouldnt be that way, but thanks to big government, it is.

    • JeffH

Good luck and I hope that “free enterprise” won’t be completely dead before you have completed your work.

    • Jana

Dan, good luck with your business, I hope it is successful as it sounds like a great idea.

You also reminded me that I hear all of the time about these poor people who live in the projects, and those that are on welfare etc. having these big screen TV’s. We still have the old kind, not even a flat screen. My TV has been going out for about a year now, and we have been saving up for a new TV, we (mainly me) want a 32″ but will not go into debt for it. My old one has blurry lines about 3 inches down from the top, but its still functioning fine otherwise and until we have the cash it will continue to do just fine.

      • Jana

        I meant a 36″ TV

    • Dick Gazinia

good luck with your business. Please keep the manufacturing in the USA. The Chinese have enough.

    • keith

he is NOT my president,i disown him, despise him and all the socialist scumbums he has surrounded himself with!to me he is a traitor and needs to be tried, followed by a rope.gos bless the usa, love or leave it!

  • Gul B.

Wasn’t Paul Krugman an advisor to ENRON? or am I mistaken on this point.

    • Peggy

No, you are quite correct. “But I wasn’t selling,” Paul Krugman writes…

  • Gul B.

Don’t forget India’s Socialism experiment from 1950-1991 leading to a near bankruptcy. Only when taxes were reduced, some (some very little) semblance of Free Market Policy was instituted in 1991 di that country begin to come out of the “DARKNESS” of Socialism. There is book titled “Breaking Free of Nehru” by Sanjeev Sabhlok that tells the factual saga of how Nehru’s Socialism Experiment almost destroyed India. Now we need to work hard to break free from (or overcome) Obama’s Big Government Tax & Spend on Entitlements & Government Ownership Agenda. Having lived in Indian Socialist Dark hours I am probably among a very few people who migrated to the US in the late 1950′s who understands and fears the DARKNESS of Obamunism; and what kind of legacy we will be leaving for our children & grandchildren.
Let us IMPOSE the CONSTITUTION upon the Politicians in DC (District of Corruption).

  • jomama

    We’re screwed!!

    • Merlin

Wellcome to the “Socialist States Of America”. B. O.’s programs make it obvious that he thinks that socialism is better than capitalism. Democrats in general always seem to think that all problems can be solve by throwing money at them and creating ever more and larger beuracracies. That has never worked. It was the democrats in the Clinton administration that started us down this road when they pushed for more afordable housing for low income. This sounds like a very laudable goal and I am not against the idea in princible. However, it opened the door to subprime lending. These things do not happen overnight. They are not reversed overnight but B.O. programs are only going to make them worse. He promised change and we got change (for the worse). He promised a new hope. I did not need a new hope then but after his disaster I do now.

      • Louise

I remember George H.W. Bush saying in an interview he would love to see a Bush Dynasty in American, that sounds like a dictatorship to me.
This interview was given on 60 minutes before the election in 2008. He was wanting Jeb to run for President.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

        I wish he would.

      • JC

I’ll pass on the guys who are loyal to the New World Order gang. GHW Bush most certainly is.

      • scott

george bush fought for what was right, not what was politicaly correct.he was a great man and stiil is.still visits our men and makes sure they have what they need.obama could,nt be forced to because he does,nt care.or that ugly scank of a wife.she said she was never proud of this countrie until monkey boy got elected.whats that say.we need to impeach the scum now.all the rest are gone in nov.hurray!!!!!!!!!

      • blackhat

Maybe true…but, I don’t think Bush ever said he would like to fundamentally change America…wasn’t that the oman?

Bring it on brother i know what your sayin, Obama will destroy this country thats all about his Agenda.

      • http://Yahoo Dee D

Dennis – It’s been Obama and many more that were there before him. It’s all been a big game plan and we suckers seem to fall for every line – hook. line and sinker because we are the government and have allowed our employees do a very terrible job of running it. Shame on us all.

      • blackhat

Dee I know you mean well…but, do not throw the whole country under the bus. There is and always has been a voice in the wilderness of reason and voters who look for the right candidates. While it may be true that many are to blame for voting to elect officials on the basis of “what will you get for me”, there is a small minority that have held the course. Wait, if I’m a minority…do I get special treatment?

      • scott

nope, your white.the only minority in this countrie who is one,but does,nt get treated as one.you just get the bill for the blacks to run in the streets and act like gangsters.

  • http://victorbarney@embarqmail.com Victor L Barney

Obama is a Marxist. Consistent with Mao Tese Tung of China(Obama’s self-proclaimed Marxist idol)and Marxist first agena is to crash the economy to take it over(Watch Glenn Beck on Fox; he knows that)! We soon will see the biggest planned economic crash and history! Watch! Note: Karl Marx created Marxism because he was an anti-messiah! Interesting, isn’t it?

    • Dennis

You don’t need to leave i know what your sayin Obama is a (offensive words removed) Communist.

      • Joe H.

Dennis, I didn’t leave, I’m not going to let a little thing like facts run me off, I’m not a liberal!!!! I don’t run from the truth like some here!

What was it Obummer said? Pass this stimulus package to keep unemployment below 8%??? I think it’s just shy of 10 now after the bill passed??? And now there is talk of another bill???? These people are brain dead!! No sign of life above the sholders!!!

    • DaveH

      No Joe,
They are not brain-dead at all. They know exactly what they want and are doing a darn good job of forcing it on us. It is the people who buy their lies that are brain-dead.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

That would be those uneducated folks who let their brain sucker in their living rooms chant change-change-change to them a couple thousand times, then went out and pulled the Obama lever, without knowing who the guy is, where he is from, what he has done, what he wants to do, what he stands for, or what he falls for. In fact, most of this is still not known today, yet the uneducated voted him into office, to attempt to flush us down the toilet. What a shame. Shouldnt one have to be able to pass a common sense test to be allowed to vote? I would think so.

      • J C

The last time I checked, some 40% of Americans were on some sort of government aid. Keep that in mind as you think of the lowest turn out in American history for the last Presidential election. Appx. 1/3 of Americans didn’t vote at all. So of the 2/3 that did, the government dependants outnumbered the working voters and won the day by putting a socialist supporter of those same dependents in the White House.
BUT! Now the rest of the voting poulation is seeing the light and the whole thing is going to go away starting in Nov 2010. Maybe there’s hope for some change after all. ;)

      • Jana

I have also been hearing about some of the pork that has been in this so called recovery fiasco. How is funding the arts involved in creating new jobs, when the arts are already funded through another bill. Plus the ‘arts’ people are donating part of that money to an organization that is run by communists who want to bring down this government.
This was on Beck’s program the other day.

Our dictator wannabe’s have been so busy pushing supposed health care reform that they could not be bothered to work on the economic problems of this country. They create new problems and ignore the problems we have.

How is Obama’s proposal of the Gov’t taking over college loans going to help? It isn’t, its just one more government takeover.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

That is sad, when people dont exercise their vote, and let dummies decide things for them. Its a plain, shame. And actually, those same people will sit there and complain about things more than the rest of us, when its more than partially their fault this happened.

      • denniso

J C…such higher ‘math’ you’ve done there. Too bad it’s only elementary arithmetic, and wrong, and comes to an absurd conclusion.

First, 40% of Americans ARE NOT ON GOV’T AID!! that’s ridiculous and wrong.
Secondly, voter turnout in the previous prez election was NOT THE LOWEST IN HISTORY!! Fact is, it was one of the highest in recent history.
Thirdly, you presume that all of the people on some sort of ‘gov’t aid’(w/ your absurdly incorrect number of 40%)voted in the last election, while other voters didn’t turn out in the same percentage.

You have been listening to big fat drug abuser Limbaugh too long, and you’re spouting pure lies just like he does, knowing that there are people who will believe anything. Shame on you…

      • JC

denniso, Every single person working for useless government agencies a dependant, ergo, likely to support government largesse. They are welfare recipients with a desk.
        The point stands.

      • JC

PS, I don’t recall ever listening to one single Limbaugh episode…or Beck for that matter. I have far too much to do to sit and watch TV.

      • woodsman

I hope and pray that the voters that are seeing the truth about our government can muster enough votes to beat the ones that feed at the government trough. I think the crooks in congress have a plan for the up and coming election. They are going to grant all the illegal aliens
amnesty and give them citizenship. Guess what !! then they can vote for all those good guys that gave them their free ride.

      • Allan

Education wasn’t a factor in voting for Obama. It was timing, and most of all, people wanting to believe a charismatic speaker. It will happen again. Some folks could see that Obama’s past ties and lack of military, business, and executive experience did not make sense for a President. I would call that a result of common sense rather than education. “Community organizing” developed Obama’s ability to show people how to get money from government. That is exactly what he is doing as President.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

When I say educated, I am referring to educating themselves as to researching the person they are voting for, and learning about them, not as meaning not having gone to school or college. I guess I wasnt clear, but being politically educated is a different animal than being school educated.

      • denniso

The vast majority of Obama voters are much more educated, politically and academically than the McCain voters. I suppose you don’t remember the majority of Cheny/Bush voters being among the slowest and least educated voters ever…how well educated(politically and otherwise)are the good ole boys and rednecks who supported Shrub???

      • libertytrain

denniso – your comment emits a feeling of racism toward a people and has an unflattering arrogance about it – but I’m probably just one of those uneducated good ol’ boy redneck types – so what would I know?

      • Michael J.

        Denniso,
Obama voters more educated politically and academically, really? The Acorn registered individuals I saw receiving cigarettes multiple times in exchange for their signature did not look like students of higher learning to me. And how many years did Mickey Mouse go to college. Just because Chris Olberman or Keith Matthews says it, doesn’t make it so.

      • JC

Obama supporting socialists are not “educated”. they are the simplest of life forms. Thieve who want to live at everyone else’s expense. Parasites. Sadly the Republicans fielded a zero candidate also.

there goes denise again, putting his big sat, liberal, idiotic foot in his mouth before trying to use his brain, instead of trying to prove someone wrong who is 100% right.it was the gov,t themselves who gave the numbers nit wit.yes they,re are more than 40% of americans on welfare or other programs.thats blacks immigrants, dot heads and all the others that voted for obama monkey.it,s also 95% of the ones dropping out of schol that he says is our fault, not theres.it,s also 95% of the crime rate in this country.it,s also 92% of the prison population in this country.why don,t you look it up in the gov,ts own stats.but most of all, open your eyes and start useing your brain.accept the facts and start handling all these problems as the racial problems they are.stop the bleeding heart crap and trying to blame everyone else for they,re own problems.you keep talking about treating everyone equal, but only as long as they get all they,re special rights because of they,re color.first they need to learn to act civilised before they can be.they all still act like they,re in the jungle.they need to be american,or african,or what ever, they can,t be both.scum like you made it a crime to be proud to be white.when we are the ones who founded this countrie and gave them the opprotunity to live better than anyone else in the world.and all they do is complain.you make me and every true american sick.

      • JeffH

Agree 100%. Anything this guy does is planned with cold calculated thought. I just don’t think he calculated the “movement de resistance” which has tossed a monkey wrench in the mix, upsetting the applecart.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Im thinking, that he thought we were all as dumb as his blind followers.

      • JeffH

Rahm-bo-deadfish probaly convinced him the voting public was a bunch of zombies. What he didn’t know was that most of the zombies would snap out of it. Thank god for that! Now, the real work lies ahead.

      • Jana

Let’s see, what did Pelosi say yesterday? “We need to pass this bill so we can find out what’s in it.”
They don’t even know whats in the bills they are passing. They didn’t know what the stimulus bill had in it and then they had one person to oversee what was spent. There are some real doozies in Congress.

      • http://Yahoo Dee D

So very true Jana – So much garbage has been thrown into the mix for the specific purpose to cause its failure. We do not know what has been tossed into it. Look at all the trees they’ve wasted on so many pieces of paper and the time they’ve wasted playing their games while supposedly reading the information they are supposed to be reading to cast an intelligent vote for our country and her citizens. Why do we keep putting the same self serving doozies in office election after election? Smart aren’t we????

      • Jana

DeeD, During the primaries I researched as much as possible all of the candidates that were running. Of course no surprise it was the Republican primaries that I was voting in. There were only a couple of people that I voted for that were incumbents, the rest were fresh new people. Still, almost all of the incumbents made it back in. Arghhh.
People won’t learn. They vote for the familiar name. This is why the Congress men and women who have had a scandal and live through it get voted back in because people just remember the name, they don’t remember why the name is familiar.
We have apathetic people who are too lazy to do their research and then we have those that are too busy to do their research.
It doesn’t matter if people like denniso votes differently than I do, or you vote differently. We have each researched it out and voted our conscious and that is what we are supposed to do. At least we are each trying to be as informed as we can be.

      • trut

I agree also, all Obama has to do is waste $4 trillion more dollars and he will be as bad as Reagan.

      • KASI (AMERICAN)

trut, back when our late great gipper was prez we were facing the russians (ever heard on the cold war that we won thanks to Reagan,) so the majority of the money that was spent in that era was on military (which carter cut drastically to help pay for his mess)anyway that money that did go to the military went to the private sector via sublet contracts with PRIVATE companies like um boeing besides the one place money should be going is to our military.Everybody has seemed to forget about the constitution, declaration and the bill of rights (OUR FATHERS ROADMAP)but the left and some on the right REFUSE to follow it much like their voters because they have all sold out stealing our money its time we wake up america and take our land back its our constitutional duty to do so

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

        And your a lyin arse.

      • scott

no one in hystory has spent as much money in the entire hystory of the united states, thats all money ever spent here, that obama stole in one shot.he,s the biggest lier, theif, and racist there ever was and don,t compare scum like him to a great man like reagan.if you simpletons rememberbut of course never want to admit to the facts, repubs had the house 12 yrs correct.in all that time we had good employment, economy was great, and things were good.you idiots took over and within a year and a half of your idiotic thinking and stealing,i mean spending, you put the country into another depression.buck up and take responsibility scumbag.you and all the other monkey lovers.

      • Dennis

        Thank you,
Left or Right is ( WRONG )

      • scott

thats right denise.right and wrong and political correctness are totally opposite.yet thats all the scumbag politician go by is political correctness, not whats right or wrong.if they went by what was right we would,nt be in this mess the countries in.

    • Robert Moore

Fiat money allows the bankers(and special interests thru lobbyists)to own the politicians by letting them create money out of thin air. Inflation/deflation or devaluation of the value of the money by “printing” (creating Loans to the gov)is the problem. STEAL the right to create money back from the government. Create “Advertising” tokens “eat a joes” in real silver and “sell” them to that biz to advertise. Real money in real circulation. Sound money (gold, silver, commodity) is the ONLY governor on a runnaway engine of the political class and the banker overlords.

    • Dennis

      No Joe.H,
WE are, We are letting them do it every day and we have been for many many many years no matter what party it is, Its about power, and they booth want it ( Left or Right ).

      • denniso

WOW!!! Another foul mouthed rightwinger who can’t speak w/o using words that are supposed to be off limits here. You know you only show your own ignorance in talking like that…
Beb above says that Obama supporters will complain loudest when things go wrong…Are you serious?? Have yoy read all the blowhard complaining on this site for the past several months? How could anyone complain and scream more than the rightwing has for the past year? Impossible.
Myers,in the article, says that consumer spending got us into the mess we’re in so we shouldn’t spend now. WRONG!!! The greedy actions of the under-regulated financial sector along w/ some who bought too large a house for their income got us into this mess. 2/3 of our entire economy is made up of consumer spending, and until we restructure it we need people to spend and not horde their $$. If any of you want to get out of this recession you’d better hope that people start spending more in a responsible way. How else,in the short run do you propose to spark the economy if people don’t buy the products of our businesses??

      • Michael J.

        Denniso,
Well let’s see, Obama could anounce he is dropping HCR and Cap & Tax, round-up and deport illegal aliens, start utilizing domestic natural resources, keep Bush tax cuts. Disban Acorn, SEIU, ACLU, EPA and OSHA.
And that should make the stock market rally and bring about a swift recovery.

Trouble is , Obama doesn’t have it in mind to fix anything, but rather to dismantle Capitalism so that he may impose Socialism/Communism.

      • JC

And that in a nutshell, is Obama’s chnage…kind of like Castro’s change isn’t it?

      • trut

The Bush tax cuts for the Elites is what cost the nation $1 trillion in lost revenue that had to be borrowed from China. Thanx Bush GOOF

      • DaveH

Denniso must be on drugs. That can be the only explanation for his ignorance. He’s been around pestering us long enough to have been able to learn what really caused the financial collapse and it wasn’t lack of regulation. Read some books Denniso, and spare us from your lack of knowledge.

      • JC

Its typical rabid Obamunista behaviour. The shrieking kind.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Maybe you should go back and read my post before you blow off your big liberal mouth. What I said was those that didnt vote complain the most. I said nothing about Obama voters complaining. But I guess that just didnt suit your agenda now, did it?

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

The above post was for denniso, who cannot read, or chooses not to read what the words really say.

      • JC

They hear what they want to hear Beb.

      • KASI (AMERICAN)

denisso, you obviously dont know enough about the lenders to have an acurate evaluation. Those so called big bad lenders are the same ones that give you and me oh sorry i money for our homes and cars but the government stepped in and made them lend to the subprime market because gosh darn it the poor deserve a house too.Doit or get fined so if the gov. said to you lend that person with no job $100.00 dollars or get fined $500.00 what would you do knowing theres a really good chance your going to have to take a loss government stay out of our way your just holding us back

      • scott
