Hey, Washington—Reconcile This!

March 5, 2010 by

Hey, Washington—Reconcile This!

Thank goodness for a conference in Scottsdale, Ariz., last week. I had day-long duties as the master of ceremonies—which meant I was not able to watch Barack Obama’s seven-hour healthcare summit on TV.

If you did, please tell me what you thought of it. (If you’ve never joined our comment club before, it’s easy to do. Just go to the end of this Straight Talk column, type in your raves, rants or whatever, and click “Submit Comment.” Assuming your remarks aren’t obscene, you’ll see them posted a few moments later.)

The analysts I trust—and even a few I don’t like—say the whole affair was bor-ing. Apparently our president came across as smug, arrogant and condescending. Do you agree? This doesn’t surprise me; I think that’s pretty much what he’s actually like.

Peggy Noonan, a conservative commentator who is frequently much kinder to our opponents than am I, said of Obama’s manner, “The president has entered a boorish phase.”

But boors don’t win in politics. I’m beginning to wonder if some of the president’s most avid supporters don’t see the handwriting on the wall. (The word they’re seeing is “failure.”)

In the television coverage of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, Obama’s water carriers in the Senate and House, both looked as though they had been sucking on lemons all morning. No jovial, back-slapping, “glad to have you here” gushing for them. It was more like “Line up the victims, boys, and let’s get this execution underway.”

In fact, the New York Times said as much in its coverage the next day. One of its lead stories started this way:

“Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she is confident she will be able to get the votes needed to pass sweeping healthcare legislation in the House, even if it threatens the political careers of some members of her party.

I put that last part in bold italics because I wanted to be sure you saw it—and recognized the significance of it. How would you like to be a moderate Democrat facing a tough reelection battle this November and read those words? Think it might send a chill up your spine?

Nasty Nancy has already lost at least one vote. Representative Marion Berry (D-Ark.) announced last month that he won’t be running for reelection this year. In his remarks, he lambasted the White House for pushing Blue Dog Democrats “into the abyss.” His words, not mine.

One astute analyst of the Washington scene commented thusly:

“The thing to know about President Obama’s health talk-fest is that it had zero to do with Republicans or their ideas. The GOP came, it spiritedly debated, it left. The president never budged. He never intended to.”

Precisely!

If the president had actually meant for the summit to lead to compromise and accommodation he would have said so up front. He knew that every Republican in Washington—not to mention an overwhelming majority of Americans—wants to toss out those two disasters that the House and Senate approved under extreme pressure.

But instead of agreeing to kill those bills and, as the Republicans have insisted, “start with a clean sheet of paper,” the president has made it clear it’s “my way or the highway.”

It was apparent to me long before the summit started that the Democratic leadership had absolutely no intention of achieving a “compromise” with the Republicans. The White House had been dropping hints for days that the president was going to set aside the velvet glove and instead take out his heaviest hammer. In this case, that means endorsing an odd legislative practice called “reconciliation” to get his health-care bill passed by both branches of Congress.

I’ve written about reconciliation before. Basically, it means rigging the rules so that legislation already approved in the Senate by 60 votes can be ratified—when it comes back from a House-Senate conference committee—by a simple majority.

Normally, neither side would attempt this parliamentary slight-of-hand when major changes have been made in a bill. But apparently the powers-that-be in the Democratic camp have decided that this is the only way they’re going to get Obamacare passed this year. So the heck with precedent, the public, or the outraged cries of the opposition. It’s “damn the torpedoes, guys, full speed ahead.”

In an op-ed piece in the Wall Street Journal, former Senator Majority Leader Bill Frist wrote that using “reconciliation” to get Obamacare approved would be “an unprecedented, dangerous and historic mistake.”

Actually, Bill, I kind of hope they’ll go for it. I can’t imagine anything the Obamacrats could do that would stir up the opposition more than to cram this odious piece of legislation down our throats. You think the Tea Parties, town hall meetings and other gatherings have shown some spirited opposition? You ain’t seen nothin’ compared to what will happen if this happens. It’s going to take a lot more than a few hundred million in Cornhusker kickbacks to bully this bill through Congress. It’s going to take a few dozen acts of political suicide.

We’ve already seen the first sign that the deal is breaking down. Both Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are insisting that the other one be the first to bring the bill up for a vote. Watching them toss this hot potato back and forth would be amusing, if the situation weren’t so serious. (Actually, it’s pretty amusing even so.)

I’m sure many of you are getting all sorts of anxious emails from all of sorts of conservative groups, organizations and coalitions urging you to “write your Senators” and “call your Congressman.” Far be it from me to dissuade you—even though you can be certain they already know their constituents don’t like this sleazy effort to socialize medical care in this country.

Instead of telling them to “just say no,” how about we try a little legislative ju-jitsu here? Ask your elected representatives to support an amendment by Representative John Fleming (R-La.) that would require all members of Congress and their staffs to enroll in any new government-run health plan.

I can’t think of anything that would get these pompous planners to switch sides faster. They already know—as most of their constituents do not—that they have exempted themselves from most of the legislative shackles they’ve been so eager to foist on us. Enough of this “some pigs are more equal than others.” Let’s level the playing field and see how they like it.

As soon as we get Fleming’s amendment passed, let’s take away their fancy pensions and force them to join Social Security and Medicare. That will teach them to fuss with our freedoms!

Until next time, keep some powder dry.

I liken Obama to a Tinker Toy, the ones that have keys in the back to rewind them when they run down. The key has run down and there is no one in back of him to re-wind. How tragic it is to see a man so enmeshed in his own self-adoration that he ignored the fact that this could have been an administration worthy of immeasurable accomplishments. It is also very sad that after giving so many Black people a real reason to be proud of their race, he has disgraced them, put a finger in their eye and didn’t even bother to thank them before he kicked them off the cliff. Thomas Sowell would never have done anything so terrible.
As to the Healthcare joke, even if congress were to accept the same plan as they are determined to INFLICK upon us, you can bet your last Dollar (and it might be) somewhere hidden where none can see, they will still have access to their present perks, we just won’t see them. There is no one on the Hill that should be trusted and they all need to go. Let’s start a rally for: 535NEWFACES.COM

I didn’t get to see the Big Show but I did get some play by play and apparently a couple of our Republicans hit a raw nerve on Obama. I was told that if looks could kill both these men would be instantly dead! That Obama looked about as evil as anybody could. I’m sorry I missed that. I guess one of these Republicans was a junior congressman or senator not sure but young and refused to back down and be interrupted by his majesty. I’d love to know who it was, at least one or two does have balls! Obama never intended to listen to the Republicans, he was hoping to make them look bad but from what I gathered it went south for him, HA! What a monumental waste of time and effort and OUR money! Any guess as to how much that little show cost us tax payers? Chip, I like your suggestion I’ll be emailing my Senators and Congressmen today and we’ll see what transpires!

    • usmadgirl

      Barb,

I think you’re talking about Paul Ryan. I like him! My Senator, Lamar Alexander gave him a pretty good run for his money too, but I’m mad at him because he voted to approve the so-called “Jobs Bill” hoax the day before the “summit”!

I did not watch, but did listen on CSPAN. It appeared that when Republicans did get to speak, they voiced concerns from their constituents about the current health care bill and provided some very good points that apparently got Mr. Obama (can’t calling him President) upset because his tongue was tied trying to make a statement. Instead, the Democrats had to jump in to attempt to put the comment in a bad light. It appeared to me that Mr. Obama purposely chose the two opposition teams and hoped that the Republicans would look bad, however, I think that backfired on him and it was actually the Democrats and Mr. Obama that looked foolish.

  • Fred Crosby

I am not an authority but I believe once a bill has passed the senate and goes back to congress if the cingress approves it as is it goes to the President. If I am right all this BS is just that,a smoke screen. If pelosi(lower case intentional)gets her votes it is a done deal. obama has never presented a bill to either house. Watch these sneaky Devils(upper intentional)at all times.

    • http://www.personalliberty.com Kupuna Dane

I understand there are several law suits waiting to be submitted should the healthcare bill pass. I, for one, certainly believe it is unconstitutional to force everyone to have healthcare if they choose to not want it. Those that do want it believe it will be free, but wait until they have to pay a penalty for not purchasing healthcare.

  • Robin

America’s got BO and he stinks. Ovomit is his name. All he does is barf up whatever one of his America hating hacks writes. What is it going to take to have the military arrest him and march him out of the White House? that guy is committing treason-did so in his private meeting with Holder when they decided to give aid and comfort to the enemy during war time-by trying KSM and company in NYC. Then the military should round up Pelosi, Reid and the rest of Congress, who have violated their oaths, as they are the enemy within. Have special elections, cut their pensions and house them at Alcatraz.

    • Tom Teacher

I do agree wholeheartedly with your point of view but I think Gitmo would be a better location for their incarceration.

    • http://www.personalliberty.com Wildcat from Dallastown, PA

Robin, I understand your frustration relative to our military not simply going into the WH, arresting the “Narcissist-In-Chief” (NIC) for treason as well as the other members of the pirate crew from the “Pirates on the Potomac”. Chip, Glenn Beck or one of the legal analysts at Fox News can provide (after some research) a more comprehensive answer but until then I’ll provide some useful information to work with. Our military forces in both the active component (AC) and the reserve component (RC) are bound by three major precepts that preclude that from easily becoming a reality that we would see reported by all media outlets (should that happen). First is the oath everyone takes when they enter the service. The training and indoctrination they receive shortly thereafter and subsequently reinforced during their continued duties and military education stress the covenants of that oath. Service members take that oath fairly seriously in peacetime but live by during wartime. Review the oath for yourself. Next relates to the commissioned officers who have not only taken that oath but operate within an enforced code of professional ethics. Mutiny is punishable under the UCMJ and as such is a deterrent to executing your (and many others desires) for military personnel to arrest these puking oxygen thieves. Unlike our NIC officers have been relieved for cause and had their careers ended for violations of this code especially for violating integrity. I’ve seen it from 1st Lieutenant to Colonel. Some of them as simple as lying about having submitted a report they had not and others with far greater transgressions. Unfortunately not all the reported allegations of wrongdoing were actually investigated which allowed certain senior officers to proceed untouched by the routine enforcement others were subject to. Look up who can have federal arrest authority as it concerns military forces. I think you’ll find (generally speaking) the only American military force I am aware of that has federal arrest authority capable of arresting US citizens and foreign nationals is the US Coast Guard. They have had the mission of smuggler apprehension and coastal security since their inception. That later entailed drug interdiction and, due to necessity illegal immigration enforcement (usually from Cuba) but not always.

In conclusion, other than not having the legal arrest authority, strong appearance of mutiny and serving under the code of ethics of commissioned officers, what you (and countless others) would like to see happen will not be done by them. Pose the question to those with the background and resources to get the answer of who can do that. I suspect it comes thru the findings of a special prosecutor as coordinated thru either the Department of Justice and/or the Supreme Court.

  • http://danny Dannyboy

I think Obma ,Nancy Pelosi,Harry Reid are Nephillims

    • Yvonne

Dannyboy, You’re obviously not a scholar or you would not put an “s” (English plural) after “im” (Hebrew plural) making a double plural. Also it is spelled with one ‘L’ not two.
So are you saying they are a race of giants that are sons of God and stand head and shoulders above all the others, or that they a human/alien hybrid that will bring about the destruction of the earth?

      • JeffH

Yvonne, we’re not judging the scholarly or the grammar here, were judging Obama’s threat of reconciliation and his massacre of health care.

      • Yvonne

That still doesn’t answer my question. Sons of God and Race of Giants or Alien Hybrids bringing about destruction?

      • usmadgirl

        Yvonne,

        Bible Dictionary

        Nephilim

(Gen. 6:4; Num. 13:33, R.V.), giants, the Hebrew word left untranslated by the Revisers, the name of one of the Canaanitish tribes. The Revisers have, however, translated the Hebrew gibborim, in Gen. 6:4, “mighty men.”

        http://www.godandscience.org/doctrine/nephilim.html#0woV2BFxzVWl

      • eyewideopen

Usmadgirl, I sure hope those “Revisers” got it right. The human hand of man make a mistake? Do you believe in free will given by God?

      • Yvonne

Also, Jeff, my “scholar” comment was in reference to Dannyboy trying to sound erudite by throwing out a word very few people know, without a followup explanation.

      • JeffH

Yvonne, “erudite”?…practice what you are preaching.

      • Jana

Yvonne, you might be surprised at how many of us know what a Nephilim is, so what’s your point? It’s not nice to be a smart alec.

    • Marc

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nephilim

doesn’t all seem like a bad thing…..depends on which scholar you go with

  • Jennifer

That man has classic narcissism. Indeed, he is not who he (unsuccessfully) portrays himself to be. I can undertand that he is convinced of his own subjective importance and righteousness as that happens often with those who have been elevated to power, but how do so many others look at him and not see who and what he is? So many of us have more than a niggling feeling that something is terribly wrong in the USA. Obviously, monstrous evil is afoot, and the battle is heating up. I can honestly say I will fight to the death for my children, grandchildren and subsequent generations. My question is whether there is an ability to repeal this health care monstrosity (should it pass) when conservatives are back in power.

  • George F.McLaughlin, CPA/MBA

    Ladies and gentlemen,
It is time for our country to WAKE UP!!! We cannot continue to spend money that we don’t have and continue programs that we cannot afford as the dseficit continues to grow exponentionally. We must reduce government costs and spending so that the rest of the economy will be able to thrive!

  • Gul B.

The President is a Profoundly Prevaricative Politician whose quality of Mendacity is Monumental.

Such arrogance was never even exhibited by Al Capone or any of the other Godfathers.

  • Charlie Denger

Time for reconsiling is near. The citizens (voters) surely know our political system is drastically flawed (broken). Now is the time
to change the system and return our ‘Government’ to the constitution
and what ‘The Founding Fathers’ initiated for our country.
GOOOH is rapidly growing. GOOOH, pronounced ‘go’ – Get Out Of Our House – http://www.goooh.com – is a system with a plan and the tools to help
save our country. GOOOH is non-partisan. The candidates are chosen by
a selection process. As representatives they are NOT controlled by a
party ( Creator, constituents, and conscience ),nor tied to special
interests (money), nor serving of self (two terms or less),and they
also are held accountable (signed contract).
Check out GOOOH. Become a member. Join us in saving our country and
making history. Your country needs you.

    • http://www.w3f.com/patriots/ JRBeaman

Sorry but GOOOH promotes the flat tax instead of “none of the above”.
They support term limits, thereby removing our freedom to choose.
When they get this right, maybe I’ll support them.

  • James

I agree with Brad, this health care thing is unconstitutional, and it is not what our founding fathers want for this country. And it is not what the American people want. This is just a matter of control for the Obama, and democrats he is already controling. We must all go to the poles in November and vote out all we can and take back OUR country

    • Cella

Health care is so unconstitutional. How did they ever get Medicare through? Take our country back. People are going to stand up to seniors and get rid of government run health care now!!!! Pray for people to be free of the government. Buy your own health care from the insurance companies. I am sure the price will come down. If it doesn’t….too bad. Pay up or shut up….Down with Medicare. Working people are fed up with not being able to pay for their own insurance by keeping seniors on government run Medicare.

      • Jay

Celia you really are an idiot. I hope you make it to be a senior and then you can see that you are not paying for me or any other senior. We have paid into the system all our working lives. And we are still paying for it. You should really read up on a subject before you get out in public and make an ass out of yourself. Oh by the way did you have a mother and father. Have you put them down yet because they are a burden on society. I would take one senior over any 10 of you young people who don’t know what it is to suffer and do without. If you were alive back in the 30′s and 40′s you would have never survived.

      • http://www.w3f.com/patriots/ JRBeaman

        You are correct.
She might look into Hitlers “useless eaters”.
She seems to feel the same.
But then she is obviously ignorant,
how else could she promote the userper.

Sorry, but Barry is only the snakeoil salesman for Reed and Palosi,
and she is buying it hook line and sinker.

      • Cella

Yes, Jay. My father was employed by the federal government. He has some of the best insurance anyone could imagine. He is in a nursing home and pays 5000 dollars a month for his care. He is not on Medicaid. No free care for him. PS, I am 57 years old and work for a company that has great insurance at no cost to me. Worked there over 35 years and have a great pension and SS coming. The problem is you people did not pay enough compared to the young people today that are paying big taxes out of their checks. You paid pennies on the dollar. It was a great bang for your buck. The generation today will never get out of the system what they paid into it. If it is still around. Your generation paid little and got allot. Social Security should be a taxable income once you have got out more than you paid into it. The only problem is half of the country is on SS. And to even talk about a cut, or no raise is like a political massacre. It just boggles my mind that people complain about government run health care being so bad but seniors sure beat the door down protecting it, as a guarded little secret. Did you watch the show 60 minutes a couple of months ago. It was about senior health care. An 85 year old man weeks from death. Putting a pace maker in him to keep him alive a couple of more weeks. Crazy,,,,, The cost of health care has become so expensive, that maybe rationing might be the norm. Medicare for seniors is going to change. Mark my word. With millions of people being uninsured. When they have a job they are not going to continue government run socialized healthcare while they have none. Get a life.

      • Allen

I am with you Cella, in a way, and I wish people would actually think about their comments before they contradict themselves. Yes we do need to get rid of all government run healthcare and other social services, but just dropping it and saying “pay your own” will never get through, as it should not. There are better ways. If people have paid more into the programs than they have received, then give them the choice of keeping the money where it is, have it placed into an interest bearing savings account, or have it fully refunded. If people have already received move than they have paid in, then, if they truly still need it, then continue but begin weaning them off. If they are still able to do anything at all, then have them work jobs or teach them web skills so that they can do some sort of work at home jobs, maybe ebay like Paul was saying above, or one of the many other opportunities available. If the people are truly unable to do anything for themselves, that would pretty much mean being bedridden in a coma, and they have no family, friends, church, or any other local help, then continue as is.

But, the biggest thing to do now is to stop all funding of these programs. I am sick of looking at my pay-stubs and seeing nearly half of the money that I work hard for being garnished to subsidize these programs. I have no problem giving money to someone that really needs it and I have done a great deal of work with homeless shelters and food banks, but I do not give to large organizations that take 10%+ off the top for “administration fees”, so I have a huge problem with the government taking the money where I have no idea what admin fees are taken off the top or who it actually helps.

Why can people not see that if you work on a job or if you give something to someone else, and that other person gives you something of value in return, let’s say that something in return is money, then that money in return is your property. The 5th amendment of the U.S. Constitution clearly states “nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.” This would include all tax money taken from us by the government, not just the money for the bogus programs. Now, I can accept military protection as just compensation (as long a the military is used for protection and not for controlling us), but money going to help lazy people to be lazy? I think that really requires compensation, and since it would be stupid for the government to give back a dollar for every dollar it takes away (assuming both transactions took place at the same time, otherwise the government would also owe interest), what other compensation could the government really give that they have not taken from someone else?

So, what I am saying is that all of these programs are unconstitutional and need to be abolished. Otherwise, we might as well burn the constitution and bow down to the people gods of the earth.

Now, in order to help healthcare prices, first lets get the government out of the business altogether. That means the FDA and government funded organizations like the AMA. This would also mean removing government control of the medical schools so that our doctors can actually learn how to cure or prevent diseases and not just throw countless pills at the symptoms and the side-effects of other pills. The FDA states that the only thing that can help someone has to be a drug. Why do we just accept this?

      • Jana

Cella, why do you think that the SS is broke? Because they kept taking the money that was paid in and put it in the general fund.

Like he said before you go spouting off maybe you had better learn your facts. Look at how you are presenting yourself.

      • Claire

        Jana–

Thank you for speaking my mind.

      • cr747

        Cella,,
Not that I owe you an explanation,, but I have payed in enough taxes each year to pay for 10 of your Dads expenses each month for the next 30 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Joe H.

        Cella,
your story is bull. My Dad only had so so insurance and my mother had coverage from him. she was in a nursing home for the last four years and between his coverage and medicare, oh and a small gap policy from
aarp it didn’t cost anything near that. If I remember right it was about 150.00 more a month!!!

      • Claire

        Jay–

And thank you for speaking my mind!!

      • Marc

Must be on the Republican/TeaParty Death Panel……oh, wait that’s supposed to be ours…..

  • Paul Dawson

First, it is a grave concern that the American people have filled our nation’s capital with the caliber of politicians that are now running (using the term loosely) our country. They are a disgrace to our founding fathers. These people need to remember that we hired them, we pay them, and they work for us. And, how did Nancy Pelosi get to become speaker of the house. We need to take America back before it is too late. I hope this November is a landmark election.

    • Ken123

Paul, I agree completely but, we must find patriots that want to serve the country as opposed to those who want to place their loyalty to a specific party. Not saying one party is better than the other, just that there are people who understand the priciples of the founding fathers and we need to convince them to run independant of the parties. We, as voters mus place term limits on our representatives and make them live under the same laws they write for us. Cut their golden parachutes and place them on social security the same as the rest of us.

      • Right Wing George

How about this…we remove anyone, NO MATTER WHAT SEAT THEY OCCUPY IN THE HOUSE OR SENATE, with more than two (2) terms. No more retirement with full pay with a minimum of one term and they get the same social security benefits and medicare that we all (average Americans)get and have to work for. AND no more old codgers that have been there for so long they can’t get out of their chairs!

WHAT makes them all think that they are elite and we are not? Too many of them think they belong there!!

      • http://www.w3f.com/patriots/ JRBeaman

        You don’t get it.
        Why have term limits?
Many would loved to have Regan for another term.
Many would love Obama have less than one term.

Our founding fathers set up this country assuming that because it was “by the people” that we would know what we were doing, by at least learning how our government works, and watching what our “representatives” were doing.

No, We have to clean house, but term limits is another binder on freedom to choose. We would be removing our freedom to choose to keep someone on that is better than anyone else running for that office. I choose to throw out those that do not represent us, and next vote, pick the person that is better.

The answer is education and self responsibility, and stop looking at the government as the big teat in the sky. That is what made this country the greatest ever in history, and it requires us now to learn what that was and to do likewise. The ignorance and current course is killing us all.

Unfortunately, the Democratic plan of dumbing down the people has been a resounding success. Proof? Obama got elected with his rhetoric instead of his qualifications. Only idiots buy what a liar says, instead of finding out who he really is.

        I weep for my grandchildren.

      • Claire

JRBeaman— I agree with you 100% on this post.

      • Joe H.

        JRBeaman,
the only problem with term limits is if you do get someone in that goes strictly by the constitution you loose him too soon. how long before you get another? I would rather do it by the vote. Get people to do their duty, don’t let them stay lazy!!!

  • Lloyd

Give grandma a pill was the key to obammas plan. One only needs to look at who he surrounds himself with. who think seniors are
non productive and are a drain on the government. By getting rid of grandma, he achieves the following: 1. He rids himself of a generation of people who know why this country is great, 2. When this generation dies, he saves on Social Security, and 3. The government gets the Death Tax.

    • DaveH

      I’m inclined to agree, Lloyd.

      • Cella

Yes, but the seniors are killing this nation. We the people can’t continue to give them great insurance. Maybe seniors children will have to start paying for their parents health care. But when everyone agrees that they do not want the government telling them they have to buy health insurance or providing free health care for people that just do not make enough money to pay for their own health insurance but then tax them to pay for seniors. Is is crazy. Seniors are just going to have to suck it in and pay a couple of thousand dollars a month like everyone else has to.If they can’t pay, oh well, not my problem. My sister is 61 years old. In perfect health, She has to pay 650.00 a month. If some senior is not healthy, they probably would not be able to get insurance unless they paid over 2000 dollars a month. You are way off base, I am not retired yet, my statement sent annually says I have paid so far over $100,000 in to Medicare?
I wish I wish I had been given the opportunity to invest it rather than let them keep it and now say “Oh we spent it” and can’t afford to provide for you whe n you retire? Makes Bernie Madoff look like a Choir Boy?

      • eyewideopen

Larry, don’t worry, with the cost of surgery and a 5-6 day hospital stay you would have used up that 100k in one visit. If you had it in the market, you would have lost it last year. Sitting in bank making 1.65 % interest isn’t very much either, so at least you have paid for care for the rest of your life. If you paid in 100K, you have been making one hell of a good salary, as we only pay 1.2% of our annual salaries. Good going. It takes a long time and a big salary to accumulate 100k paid in. However, since you did, the rest on this site should be grateful that you helped underwrite their care, prior to your useage.

      • Jay

So the seniors are killing us, so what do we do just forget them (the ones who gave you your freedom and fought and sacrificed).I don’t know Celia if you know anything about medicare, but it isn’t free. You pay into it your whole working life and then when you retire, or are disabled as I am, you still have to pay every month. About $100 a month and that doesn’t cover any Meds. You have to pay extra for that. So don’t say we don’t pay for health care, because we do. If you want to jump all over someone who is free loading, then jump on the illegals. All 20 million of them. They walk into a emergency room for any kind of treatment, be it a cold or a cut finger, and walk out without paying a dime, and you and I pick up their tabs. They never just go to a doctor, they go straight to the ER. They know the system better then you or I ever will. You should go easy on seniors and people who are disabled as you will be one or the other in the future.

      • Cella

We would not be having this talk about health care if the cost was only 100 dollars a month. The point is the cost is so high you retard that most people are getting to the point they can’t pay for it. Wages are down, you know union people make too much money. All the talk is about socialized medicine being so bad. Making us all live in a Communist country. If socialized medicine is sooooooooo bad, why the hell do all the seniors love it. Cause it is so cheap. Why would they want socialized medicine? They think they deserve cheap great insurance. Just go out and buy it like everyone else has to. Read all these blogs. If you can’t pay for it you do not deserve it. Seniors do not deserve health care no more than some woman with 2 kids out working for 12 bucks an hour.

      • http://betty@fwcofjackson.org Betty Lovett

I do not think you know what you are talking about. I am 76 years old and I have worked since I was 15 years old. and I am still working. I Pay for my supplement insurance which goes up every year. I payed for A and B of medicare also each month. I do not make very much but I thank God I can still work. Don’t start talking till you know all the facts.

      • Jay

Oh one more thing Celia, how do you expect a senior to pay $2000 a month for insurance when most only make about $1100 per month. You really don’t know what you are talking about. Why don’t we just do this, put them down like you do a sick animal. Hell they’re only seniors, not real people. You idiot, those seniors are why you can get online like this and spout off about nothing you know about. Let me ask you this, have you served your country in any capacity besides opening your big mouth. Have you fought for your freedom like I and millions of others have. That freedom that you take for granted. If it wasn’t for those bad seniors, you might be speaking German or Japanese today. But us poor sad seniors wouldn’t allow that. As for your poor sister, when she hits 62 she can start collecting social security and receiving medicare. God you really are pathetic.

      • Cella

She can’t get Medicare till she is 65. If she draws her SS, she will take a cut. She is going to continue to work. My god, you can’t afford to pay for insurance. Join the crowd. Serving in the army has nothing to do with being able to get Medicare. The Medicare tax has not been around that long. It came way after 1965. That is when President Johnson signed it into law.

      • Claire

Jay–Wonder if she is all “for” the so-called death panel?

      • kammie

CELLA:) CAN NOT WAIT UNTIL YOU ARE A SENIOR. YOU OBVIOUSLY ARE AN ADOPTED CHILD WITH NO BONDS TO FAMILY. WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND READ SOME HISTORY! THOSE SENIORS YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT LEFT YOU THE GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. AGAIN NO WORRIES WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND! HAVE A NICE END OF LIFE WHEN OTHERS ARE MAKING CHOICES FOR YOU:)

      • Cella

The seniors that left us with the greatest country have no connection with being in the service and being on Medicare. The people fighting in Iraq today have no connection with Medicare. Down the road I guess they would qualify for insurance from the VA.

      • Pat R

        Cella:

Do you consider yourself an authority on senior citizens? If so, you are lacking a lot of information!
For Seniors to be able to get Medicare, they have to have worked and be qualified to be eligible to receive it. It also is not FREE. I, for one, have worked all of my life and paid all taxes just like everyone else. The Medicare Tax is on your tax stub or it should be. That amount is supposed to be paid to the Medicare Administration. Whether or not it is, is another matter resulting in Government procedures.
Your remarks are totally off base and very selfish. I hope you will pray for your God to forgive your selfishness!
I myself, have been paying every month and have never used one penny of it. (-$.01). I signed up when I became eligible because it would cost over $100.00 a month to sign up later on. YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!

      • Cella

Why would you want socialized health care? I thought this is what this is about. Like I said before, the medicare tax came long after medicare. All I am reading is socialized medicine is communist, bad stuff. Yet all the seniors think they deserve it???? Why would you want the government taking control of your health care. Just go out and buy it on the open market from a private insurance company. Remember it is not in the constitution, so why do we have government controlled socialized medicine. MEDICARE.

      • Claire

Cella– May I ask how old you are? Just curious.

      • eyewideopen

Cella, I must admit, it is pretty funny that the repubs and conservatives want to keep their medicare. For years, the repubs have been trying to privatize it, but NOW they are all screaming to keep it. The shoe is on the other foot and the repubs want socialized healthcare. Funny, just too funny. If Bush would have gotten his way in 2003 it would have been privatized and broke today. Oops, broke last year. SOCIALIZED HEALTHCARE FOR REPUBS!!!! What a hoot.

      • Dorothy

Cella – You sure made my day by saying “Seniors are killing this
Nation.” You fit right in with Big O. I’m in my late 70′s. I have
been working since I was 16 years old. God forbid you thank me and
my friends for providing you with Freedom up to this point. The ball
is in your court now – and God help us since you think like Big O.
Oh, by the way, I have contributed lots and lots of dollars to Medicare over the years – I do not go to doctors, I do not use prescription drugs – I basically do not cost you a cent for my good health.

      • Jana

Cella, good grief. You are stuck on one thing. Yes, its all the Sr.’s fault. It couldn’t be that your glorified hero is spending us into the poor house. It couldn’t be that we have so many illegals sucking us dry. It couldn’t be the welfare recipients who are in good health but choose not to work. It couldn’t be that you have blinders on.

      • Claire

Cella — Seniors are killing this nation? What the heck are you doing? Saving the nation? Not hardly. Grow up.

      • cr747

        Claire,,
I believe her to be about 6 the way she is sticking her nose in everybody’s business,, and up Obamas arse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • cr747

        Claire,,
so sorry for the language.. These comments are getting to me worse than court has the last two weeks..

May God forgive me is my prayer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Claire

cr747— And it is kids like this that will someday be running the country, or should I say “ruining” the country even more? I keep telling myself that there are still good kids out there. Maybe these two on this post will grow up eventually.

      • cr747

        Claire,,
I don’t know,, nowadays young people don’t have any respect for the seniors.. Someday they will look back and see what a mistake they have made..

I do have to say that I have a 26 year old Son that has not given my wife and I any trouble what so ever.. He is a super Son.. Also have a perfect Daughter that didn’t give us any trouble.. I thank God for them every night..Also have 2 Grandsons,, and a Granddaughter..They are all precious..

I read where your Daughter was coming home,, I believe on another post..I know that your Children are precious to you also.. God Bless Them is my prayer for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Claire

cr747–It is libertytrain’s daughter that is coming home in June. My daughter got called back to work at Caterpillar, thankfully! And I agree about our kids. We are fortunate that they are good people. Bless all of them. And thank God we have them.

      • cr747

        Claire,,
I remember now,, yes glad your Daughter went back to work,, my apology.. Claire may God bless your family,, and I pray they will continue to have plenty of work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        Libertytrain,,
Sorry,, Am so glad YOUR Daughter is getting to come home.. I know you are excited,, and can’t wait.. I am sure she wants to see her kids to.. May God Bless,, and keep them safe.. My prayers are with them,, “all of them”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • libertytrain

cr747 – thanks – my daughter is just coming home on her 2 week leave, she still has at least 6 months to go. My son-in-law should be home in June sometime – unless they extend it more than the 3 months it’s already been extended.

    • Doc Sarvis

      This is completely false.

    • Joe H.

      Lloyd,
Yeah that was Obummers idea, give gramma a pain pill instead of trying to make her better so she can be there for her grand kids a little longer. Just because he lost one so soon he expects everyone else to!!!

    • gfu

You are stupid if you believe that, Lloyd.

      • J C

        Is he? Really?
Actually I think he hits the nail right on the head.
Think about it. His Hopiness himself said that older people would have to deal with “end of life issues”.
And Lloyd is right about the financial aspect too.
The way the spend without end government is going, they won’t be able to support SS any more. So just get rid of the problem seems to be the underlying approach.
That and now the government serfs who have had the latest education
(indoctrination) and know nothing of real freedom, who’s to stop the globalists from walking all over what was once a great country?
Certainly not you people who’s input is…
“If you believe that you’re stupid”.
Gee, thanks for the intelligent and thought provoking input,
now there must be an empty stool at a Starbuck’s somewhere…off you go!

      • Doc Sarvis

I don’t know where your from but in this world all older folks have to deal with end of life issues. What is the big deal. All of us have to deal with it and the issue grows as we grow older.

      • JC

The issue is a government held authority that can deny health care to someone just because they can no longer pay taxes. I don’t know what world you’re from but here its plain to see that the psychotic entrenched bureaucracy cares only about its bottom line and should NEVER be trusted with life and death decisions.

      • Jana

The ‘big deal’ is it isn’t the governments place to decide when it is appropriate for someone to die that has done nothing wrong but to, as one person on this board put it, be stupid enough to grow old. That sounds like what some in the government thinks too. You know the Socialists?

      • DaveH

My parents generation bought into the swan song of a compassionate government. Then their children got stuck with the mess. So our generation had to pay all our lives into a system that has been poorly managed by the “saviors”, and now that we are near the collection point, many Liberals are threatening to bankrupt our country with their profligate ways. Since Social Security has been nothing but a Ponzi scheme, the baby-boomers face the strong possibility of getting nothing back from all those years of forced investment.
Only completely ignorant or greedy people can ignore the fact that Big Government is the Problem, Not the Solution.

      • eyewideopen

Yup, dave and all the rest of us are paying for your parents ss and medicare, as they probably didn’t put in enough to pay themselves the 12k per yr for ss payments and within 6-7 period they usually use up all monies they put into medicare, while they live another 20-30 years. Most people have not paid that much into SS or medicare. Look at the chart and unless your parents were very wealthy and not making the average wage, they probably paid in around 200 a year in SS and 42 in medicare taxes. The average salary today is less than 42k, so, they are like everyone else, who is taking more than they paid in.
        http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/ProgData/taxRates.html

      • J C

EWO…unreal. You’re blaming working people for government theft?
Well, you are after all a good communist, so I guess it’s understandable.

  • Doc Sarvis

I actually watched and listened to most of it. I was struck by the constructive tone that President Obama presented. I think both sides of the congressional participants were more dug in to the positions they’ve held over the last year on this. The Deomcrats wanted to get this done and all the Republicans wanted was for it to fail. There were a few of the Republicans I thought had a genuine interest in moving forward with some form of health care reform but their party’s leadership was shutting the debate down.

    • J C

Socialized health care does not work. It is destructive in every aspect and has no “constructive nature” to it.
This is not to say that we don’t need some kind of change.
But the solution is less, not more government.
Free market health care…”Genuinely” Free Market health care is something that hasn’t been tried yet and I think that’s the way to go.
But, until we get an American who respects our founding principles and is willing to rout out the existing system of graft….
all we can do is vehemently oppose communist health care.

      • Doc Sarvis

What is on the table is not Socialized Medicine. It has some “social” aspects to it, as many other government programs do, but it is not a government take over.

      • DaveH

It is Socialism. It may not be full-fledged yet, but it is a necessary step to their ultimate goal of complete government control. Most people (unlike yourself) just haven’t been thoroughly enough brainwashed to accept Full-Blown Socialism, so of course the Liberals have to be more subtle about it.
You accuse the Republicans of being obstructionist, but answer this:
If a guy approached you and said “I want your Car and your Wife”. Would you be obstructionist if you answered “You can’t have either!”. Or, should you compromise and offer him just your wife?

      • Doc Sarvis

Your car and wife scenario is not at all analogous to the opposition to health care reform.

      • Right Wing George

Doc………..you’re a dumb ass! That’s the only description that fits!

      • DaveH

I wouldn’t expect you to get it Doc.

      • Doc Sarvis

Right Wing George, you always add so much to the discussion.

      • Doc Sarvis

Dave H – and I wouldn’t expect you to come up with an aplicable scenario.

      • Radical RW’er

Thats why they call themselves Progressives. Step by step they progress to the left. Before we know it we are sitting on Mao’s front porch. This administration and the other stooges in Congress reject liberty. Isn’t it quite obvious by who they surround themselves with?

      • Denise

It is the foundation of socialized medicine…..the “starter home”. Control of healthcare is the keystone to socialism.

What’s on the table has nothing to do with HEALTH, and it has nothing to do with CARE. It has to do with power. Period.

      • http://www.personalliberty.com chuckg

        Denise,
You are an intelligent, true conservative patriot. Doc Sarvis is an idiot who deserves a response only out of sympathy to his naive, liberal drivel. The current ‘health reform’ agenda is taken directly out of Saul Alinsky’s playbook for radicals. In fact, the usurption of our Constitution by appointing over 30 czars that are not accountable to anyone other than the POTUS is alarming. If the language in the current health care bill is implemented, it gives the Secretary of Health broad powers to define ‘later’ what is allowed and not allowed for care. If this is not government control, then I’m not sure what is.

      • Radical RW’er

        Bingo!

      • Dennis

Thank you, I’m so glad to see that we are not alone, Now we just need about 250,000,000 more people to see it this way.

      • usmadgirl

        Denise & Chuckg,

“Well said!” to both. I just thought of something when you (Denise) said this HC bill was a “starter home” & you (Chuck) saying it gives the “Secretary of Health” broad powers to define “later” what is or isn’t allowed.

If you’ve ever been on any topic where I post a comment, you’ll know that I usually write a LONG comment. That comes from being a stickler for detail. It takes me forever to get all my thoughts together or proof of some facts just to write a comment (unless someone really POs me & I do a quick rant)! I just can’t present a thought in “shorthand” & I proof-read 10 times so the “progressive typo/grammar police” don’t issue me a citation!

I’ve also been trying to write a book (in spare time that I don’t have much of) since September. I’ve only written 40 pages & I’ve already highlighted about 35 years of my life.

My point is, have any of you considered how long it took to write over 3000 pages (for both) of this faux health care bill? Have you considered how much BS it would take to fill 3000 pages? Do any of you think that this thing was just thrown together right after O-dumbo took office? Do you think that CONGRESS wrote this thing, seeing how NONE of them KNOW what’s in it?

I was taught that CONGRESS writes the bills that are voted into law. I was also under the impression that they were SUPPOSED to write the bills that represent THE PEOPLE! I honestly thought they sat down together, put on paper what their constituents asked for! So why is it now that Congress doesn’t even know what their arguing about? This crap has been written by SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS & in the works for a LONG time (before O-dumbo was elected), otherwise they couldn’t have compiled 3000 pages in such a short time & if Congress had written it & debated it as they were writing it, they’d at least remember most of what was in it!

Not only is our Constitution being ignored, but even the very process of our 3 branches of government has been all but eliminated! I know that Republicans (I didn’t say Conservatives) have been guilty of not doing some things by the book, but the Progressives (I didn’t say Democrats) in office NOW have thrown the book into the flames!

They have one agenda & they will stop at nothing to move forward…not the Constitution, Congress nor the People. They are making up the rules as they go! They & their agenda need to be exposed by more than Glenn & a few more brave souls! Since the MessiahStreamMedia is still enamored by his eloquent tele-prompter reading & wouldn’t dare defy anything their “savior” proposed, then we need to find some way to OVERWHELM the system. That’s what THEY’re doing so WE need to use their Saul Alinsky’s rules ourselves in order to retaliate!

      • Jana

        usmadgirl,
These are some very thought provoking statements that you have just made. I do believe you have hit the nail right on the head. Of course it makes sense that the “special interest groups” have written most of this way before Obama even became Pres. Probably started when they backed him to run, so no, Congress didn’t write this bill. Some Congressmen were privy to it and added more radical views to it, but this really makes a lot of sense. How else could this happen so fast.
I heard someone talking about how long it took the lawyers to write the agreements up for the Global Warming Summit. They said it took over 9 months to write and haggle over the details of a much smaller agreement than a 2700 page life altering so called Health Care Bill. There is no way they could have written this in one year, no way.

        Good Work.

      • RoBoTech

        Yes, it is.
        Simple as that.

      • Warrior

        Doc,

You friends couldn’t pass the public option in the senate so they got creative. Don’t fool yourself, your party ultimately will craft this piece of &%^& to lead us into public option ONLY. That is the goal and if you really believe this is not in fact the case, than I feel you are not being honest with yourself.

      • Doc Sarvis

Not my party, I’m an Independent.

      • J C

Dave is right. Give them not one foot in the direction of controlling our health care.

      • cr747

        Doc Sarvis,,
        BULL

      • Doc Sarvis

cr747, I’m impressed. You took three letters and made a four letter word out of them. Keep working on it.

      • Cella

Right, right, Right. Kick all seniors off Socialist Communist government run health care. Problem solved, money saved. The budget is fixed.

      • Cella

Socialized health care does not work. Smart people. GET RID OF MEDICARE NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let everyone buy it from the insurance companies. That is the only way to be fair.

      • Tom

Get rid of all government programs! Let’s hear it for privatizing freeway construction! Kick Gramps off Medicare — now there’s your ‘Death panel.’ Let have no education for anybody! And dismantle the military! I’m sure all the true Patriots on here are just typing while they are waiting to be shipped off to Iraq

      • Radical RW’er

What an ignorant representation of what a conservative is/isn’t. Its not they we don’t want Gov’t – its the over reaching government. The government that is not adhering to the Constitution. Gov’t is granted certain powers which are needed in a civil society. Article 1 Section 8 – read it.

      • DDC

Tom, I am a Navy Seal, but I’m not waiting to be shipped out to Iraq. Have already been there 3 times and to Afghanistan 1 time, and going back to Afghanistan in June

      • JC

Plug your nose and blow hard, your head will pop right out! And don’t be alarmed…that’s “daylight” you’ll be seeing.

      • Jana

DDC, thank you for your service.

      • DDC

JC I don’t know a lot of our work is done in darkness. Maybe we will have a bright moon lit night. Well, sometimes that doesn’t work either. Thanks for the advice, all is good

      • DDC

Jana, thank you, I do need your prayers. I have a bad feeling about this mission for some reason.

      • Joe H.

        DDC,
Keep primed and God Bless man!!! RVN 70-71

      • Jana

DDC, I will pray for you as I did for my husband. I prayed Isaiah 54:17. He had some very close calls, even had an IED go off on him less than 2 ft. away and it blew in the opposite direction from where he was sitting in the truck. He and his driver were spared. His convoy even drove over a live IED and it didn’t go off. The EOD’s came out and blew it up. They all knew Who kept it from going off.

I have put you on my prayer list. When do you go?

Though you walk in the valley of the shadow of death, fear no evil, for God is with you.

      • Jana

DDC, I reread your previous post and see that you are being deployed in June.
Isa.54: I pray in the name of Jesus that no weapon formed against you can prosper.

      • DDC

Jana, Joe H, Claire, and whoever I missed, I can’t express myself enough to let you know how I feel to have people praying for all of our seal platoon while we are out of the States. In situations that we are in at times, we know that we can turn to God, and He will help us through. Also there are times when we think of family, friends, and even though I have never met you personally, I feel that knowing you are praying for me, and all soldiers on the battlefield that makes it a lot easier to fulfill our mission of keeping The United States of American soil free from terrorists and Wars here at home.

So from me, and all the others over there keeping America safe, may the riches blessings of God fall upon all of you.

        Thank you and God Bless:

      • Claire

DDC—-God bless you and keep you from harm. God’s arms will be wrapped around you wherever you go. My prayers and thoughts will be with you too. God loves you. Thank you from me and my family for your patriotism to America.

      • JC

Come home safe. We need the good Americans here.

      • usmadgirl

        DDC,

Please don’t say that! I was already worried about you! I haven’t been on here much in the past few weeks & on the few topics I’ve skimmed, hadn’t seen your comments. I had asked you in a topic awhile back when you were going back & couldn’t find which topic I’d asked you to see if you’d ever answered!

I’m so glad you haven’t left yet! I like reading your comments! I know that you “have our backs”! I can’t even begin to tell you how much I appreciate your service & all the branches of the military, past & present! You guys are the reason we can still make our comments here, at least for the moment.

That’s what angers & saddens me more than anything – all our rights, that you, my deceased husband (Marine sniper/squad leader Vietnam), a lot of my family members (Dad, Army WW II, Uncle-wounded Korea, husband’s greatnephew-3 tours Iraq), Tinwarble (Air Force-Saudi-Khobar Tower bombing)& so many others have sacrificed to protect & defend, to have these evil progressives determined to “transform” & destroy!

You & all the others will be in my thoughts & prayers until you all return home. I also pray that when you do return, our country will still be a free, capitalist REPUBLIC & not a “Global State”! But for now, I’ll still be praying for you & continue enjoying your comments! God Bless You & Keep You Safe!

      • Jana

        Amen!

usmadgirl, Deep in my thoughts today I kept telling myself that there was another Prayer Warrior that I had commented with. Was just going through the lists and came across your name, and I am so sorry that I had left you out.
During my prayer time today I thanked God for all the Prayer Warriors on here that are praying for our country, and all the Girls, and Guys that are fighting in different parts of the world. With so much on my mind I had completely drew a blank.
Thanks usmadgirl for remembering. It means a lot to know that I have another one praying for, not only me, but all soldiers and their families.
Again, God Bless you, and all the rest. GOD BLESS AMERICA.

        PS
God keep these praying safe from harm, and allow them your richest blessings,
Please remember the families that have lost their loved ones in battles that have already been fought, and the ones that are still being fought.

      • JC

        DDC…
The above “Plug your nose” comment was in NO way directed at you.
I was responding to the same post you were.

      • eyewideopen

DDC, I lost my son in Iraq, I will ask God to watch over you. Tonight you will be at top of my prayer list. Best of luck.

      • DDC

Eyes thank you so much for the prayers, you don’t know how much they mean to me.
Eyes I am so sorry about your son. As a seal we try to make everybody safe, but these people that we are fighting against are ruthless. God Bless You For The Lost Of Your Son.
My prayers will be with you to.
In another post I stated that I had a bad feeling about this mission, but knowing all of you are praying, and I am a Christian I know God will be with me while there.
Again God Bless All Of You–and GOD BLESS AMERICA

    • Yvonne

Doc Sarvis, I also watched virtually all of the dog and pony show, and I was struck by how smug and arrogant the POTUS is. He smirked whenever he had to listen to a Republican, and answered condescendingly. He is unsuccessful at putting a few sprinkles on a dog turd and persuading the Repubs to eat even though he keeps telling them it’s a delicious donut. They say “throw it out and let’s make a donut together; we think it’s a dog turd you’re trying to feed us!” Yes the Repubs want a donut (health care reform) but not the one that was left on the lawn in the dark of night by the Dems.

      • Doc Sarvis

Then you would think that the Republicans would have been working with the Democrats throughout the year to come up with something both sides could, if not agree, at least feel that they both have good input into the final legislation. President Obama left the door open for Republicans to work with the Democrats at the recent forum with no takers I believe.

      • Jana

        doc sarvis, You are wrong.
The republicans have been treated like outcasts, and still are. Remember, bo said “I’m the President”. So he is in charge now, and he leads, he doesn’t listen. He is too good to listen and learn anything.

      • cr747

        Jana,,
exactly the words that the ARROGANT president said.. A very foolish thing for a president to say.. Sounds like a 10 year old arguing with his sister!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • steven jeffries

You’re a real piece of Work The embrace of Gov’t will take care of me Sucks This Man was picked and Groomed by likes of George Soros to dismantle The US!! I submit to the likes of You it makes my day and me stronger while working That 5 useful idiots I suport will be the 1st to go in the Boxcar THINK! Be self sufficient! its not bad and its healthy

      • eyewideopen

Doc, this is from GAO in 1998 they knew we had a problem.
        http://www.gao.gov/products/T-HEHS-98-199
Repubs didn’t want to address healthcare for the same reason they didn’t address immigration. Power!!! They wanted to keep the power. Both issues are hot potato’s. Feel sorry for Bush as he wanted to address both the mortgage issue and the immigration issue, but his republican Congress said no. I say, cancel the reforms and leave it for the repubs to try and fix, within 6 years it will be so bad, and then the repubs will have to raise taxes and try to get the dems to work with them. LMAO

      • Jana

Eyes, I know you lost your son, and that is unimaginable to me as I have not lost any of my children, but I was wondering do you have any other children?

      • wwjd

The republicans goal from the beginning of Obama’s presidency has been clear; to obstruct and do anything possible to “bring him down” (their words).
What they have shown is that they are not interested in doing the jobs they were elected to do. They are not working for the country, they are working against the administration.
All the venom and fear that has been spewed in the name of patriotism is very Un-patriotic and dangerous to the personal liberties of all citizens. Do you not think the Glenn Becks and Bill O’Reilys out there are motivated by their own greed? The BS they spout daily is so far out there, most of the time you only need use google to prove that they have no facts to back most of the hateful things they say.
It is not contructive, it is destructive. If half the energy spent thinking up lies and moranic conspiracies was used to help our fellow Americans we would be in a much better place as a country.
I’m sure there is someone here that will post and call me a ##@$% commie, lefty, yada yada yada. That is the kind of response those of us that still have HOPE for the country expect from those of you so filled with anger that you’ll say anything. Maybe you need to go build a house to the poor, or dig a well for the children in Africa that have to walk over desert for days to get water.
God has blessed us with good people that will do it and they are in the majority. I’m sorry for those that can’t see.

      • Jana

        wwjd

As you said—-’m sure there is someone here that will post and call me a ##@$% commie, lefty,

        Yvonne,

You just can’t imagine how much I needed a laugh! (Had a bad day yesterday & like a lot of people, have a lot of stress on me right now!) This is the most honest, colorful, precise description of the health care debate & the summit that I have ever seen! You have described the faux “bi-partisan summit” flawlessly! Thank you for putting it into words everyone should be able to understand & for making me laugh out loud! I’m still laughing!

    • http://Don'thaveone Sally

I don’t have access to the copy that I had. I did post it on one of these blogs, anyway the Repubs had many alternatives that they tried to propose on Nov 5th 2009 to no avail – that is what is so sad – that your pres not mine was trying to lead the US citizenary that the Repbs had not put forth any ideas of their own. I surely hope that his constiuants now really understand what a d___ lier this man is.

      • DaveH

        Sally,
many of the Republican proposals, although admirable, couldn’t Constitutionally be mandated by the Federal Government, any more than the Healthcare Bill can Constitutionally be mandated.
One power they do have though is to pass a law invalidating State laws that keep people from buying Health Insurance across state lines.
Any laws they can Constitutionally pass should result in lesser Government, because Big Government is the Problem, Not the Solution!

    • JeffH

Eh whats up Doc Sarvis, do you really believe what you have just said? Of course you do! Obama conducted himself like a school marm scolding her pupils. He gave nothing that would significantly change his health care debacle. His contuct was unbecoming to the title he holds and his antics and speeches have become boorish. This is not a man of substance and might well be what we, the people, and this country have needed to snap us out of the daze we’ve been in for many decades. Yeah, there are many that need health care, but there are many more that want to go back to work so they can live a free life without big brothers help.

  • Sam Hammond

I think it is time to cleanup our Gov. and get some good old red blooded Americans in office again.

  • D.H.

Yes, I sat and watched the whole thing. The President tried to do the campaigning thing that worked so well for him in the election — didn’t work this time.

Democrats will be the party of gone. I predict that you will not be able to find anyone who will actually admit to voting for Obama.

  • Michael Hicks

The Republicians allowed Obama to talk down to them. Why are they afraid of this guy?

    • http://Don'thaveone Sally

Boy John McCain didn’t let him get away with anything. Obummer certainly tried to overtalk and shut John down but he couldn’t. The only way was to call a recess so that the reps could go and do their vote. I wouldn’t vote for John again and I think he should retire but I really really enjoyed his slam which was the truth. Had he been that forceful when campaigning, we would have the Kenyan in but we really did need the wake up call.

      • Norm

        Sally
I don’t remember it exactly that way. All John did was make an ass of himself by contradicting many of his own ideas. For someone who has been on “government option” healthcare all his life he really should have just shut up. He just needed some right wing brownie points for his upcoming political challange.

      • cr747

        Norm,,
Obama is the one who made an a$$ of himself just like you do with everything you comment on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • cr747

        Norm,,
Yes I did,, but you can’t afford me.. You need to learn how to spell also!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • James Duncan

I can’t really post what I would like to about Obama. But I have no use for the person, he is going to be the downfall of this country. His better than thou attuide makes me want to puke and his wife comes across the same way to me. As far as I’m concerned this coutry doesn’t have a president just someone setting in the Oval office. I agree with a person who I get emails from his goal is to destroy this country.

    • Dorothy

Is everyone out there aware of the book obama is carrying around, and
I assume he is reading or has read it (or wrote it!!)..It is called
“The Post-American World”. He has to be de-throned immediately!! He’s already preparing for the Big Change!!

  • Mike

Obama doesn’t care about anything or anyone else other than having power. He’s a showman, a community agitater. He’s the least qualified person in any room he walks into. No history of accomplishments before or after being elected. The American people and even fellow democrats are beginning to see this. As far as I’m concerned he’s already becoming a lame duck.

  • http://www.PureHeartsInternational.com Geoff Pace

Chip ~ I’m taking you up on your allowance of “extreme ” thought without racism nor profanity. Here it is in an ontological bent:

Two things to consider: 1) A 1912 Kenyan prophecy that one of their native sons would arise and become the head of the USA whose sole purpose would be to dismantle it by any means necessary.
    2) That Barak Obama/Barry Soetoro is not AT ALL who he purports to be!
In ancient Aramaic Barak is translated to being “lightning falling from the skies.” Obama means simply SATAN. Now, go fetch your scriptures and look up Luke 10:18. “Satan falling from the skies like lightning.” OMIGOD!

What we have here is the anti-John the Baptist who is paving the way for the REAL anti-Christ. May the Lord preserve us!

    • June R

Wow, I had never thought of it exactly like that. I do believe he has
some evil powers working for him. That is truly scary!

    • http://Don'thaveone Sally

Very good post Geoff. I never thought of an anti-John the Baptist -since Satan mimics everything Jesus and God his father did/does even down to the trinity (Anti-Christ, False Prophet, and Satan). Where did you find Item 1 – have never seen that before.

    • Norm

      Geoff Pace
That is the most ridiculous nonsense I have read or heard in a long time. Are you into Voodoo as well.

      • cr747

        Norm,,
if he is then you are the voodoo idiot that he is using..You are just like Obama,, arrogant,, Obnoxious,, delusional,,and just plain dumb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Norm

        cr747
I’ve been accused of a lot of things in my life, but dumb isn’t one of them. Surely you can think of something smarter to say …or maybe not.

      • cr747

        Norm,,
It seems all the names have been used against you on here.. The only thing I can think of that you are is an Imbecile..

        Not very educated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Norm

        cr747
Actually I am well educated!!!!!!!!!!!! About 18 years formally!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe you are the A–hole!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Jana

Now we all know what Norm’s problem is, he is one of those educated idiots. Been indoctrinated by the likes of those ‘professors’ that hated the United States.

      • cr747

        Norm,,
Seems as though you wasted your money on education.. It didn’t help you any..
Go back and see if you can get your money back.. Might get you a lawyer,, but don’t call me,, you can’t afford me.. There’s not anything any body can do for a person of your caliber::Sorry Norm,, life’s a bitch sometime.. Get the drift!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Norm

        cr747
Actually my BSEE and MSCS degrees did me very well. They are part of the reason I was able to retire at a reasonable age in fine financial shape.
As far as affording a lawyer, I simply never needed one. If I do someday, it sure won’t be a hack like you. Frankly, I have a hard time believing that you finished Jr. high school.

      • Norm

        cr747
It’s pretty sad that the conversation here has come to nothing more constructive than name calling.

      • Cathy

All I can say is…birds of a feather flock together. Have you noticed who he hangs with and who he associated with in his life? What is wrong with these O’Bummer worshipers?

    • Marc

So if you believe this “1912 Kenyan prophecy” to be true……there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. Prophecy comes from God, correct ? Then the fulfilling of it is meant to be. The thing you can do is get right with God in your thought and actions….because this would seem to presage the coming of the Rapture.

      • Pat R

        Marc:
Not all prophesies are from God; nor are they true! Consider all the prophesies floating around a few years ago (around 2000 0r 2001) about the ending of the world! Idiots prophesize all the time.

      • DDC

        Oh you do, do you?

      • eyewideopen

        Good Points, Marc and Pat.

Let’s see. I have to choose between 7 hours of BO or 7 hours of Plan Nine From Outer Space. I tear open the envelope, and the winner is Plan Nine From Outer Space!
It was obvious that this prez would have nothing new or helpful to say, so there was no point in enduring his rant-o-thon. Watching paint dry or dew form on the lawn is more rewarding.
BO seems to think that everything that comes out of his mouth is gold-plated or amounts to more wisdom from the gods. He needs to get many independent opinions on that topic. Over the past year, I think it’s safe to say that the Obummer ‘movie’ never had the intelligence or wit of an old movie titled Plan Nine From Outer Space. In fact, Plan Nine From Outer Space did offer a bit of humor. Its director had more talent than Obummer. The movie’s director would be considered more pc today than Obummer. Over the last 45 years or so, Plan Nine From Outer Space has attracted a faithful, cult-like following. With Obummer’s cast and self-destructive plot, I’ll keep watching Plan Nine From Outer Space. At least that movie is worth watching.
Obummer and his cast and crew will never have what it takes to rise to the level of acceptable entertainment. Score a big one for Ed Wood. Score
zero for Obummer [don't call us. we'll call you. let's do lunch.].

    • Jana

      sc,
yes, then he has the audacity to say we now have a bi-partisan bill? Sure he has a 2700 page bill and gives the ‘other side’ possibly 3 pages? Oh how big of him.
We the people do want insurance reform, but lets scrap this trillion dollar atrocity and give us something we can live with, that is truly bi-partisan.

  • Kris

I saw the potus get angry and then cut the republicans off whenever they brought up an item that was in the bill. Then I saw the potus lie time and time again saying that it wasn’t true. Time for the rest of this country to wake up and see what this idiot in the white house is doing to this country! He is marching us to a one world govt. with communism as it’s base. What do you expect from him when he hangs a Christmas bulb on his tree with a picture of chairman Mau on it! This is his idol, not George Washington or any of our founding fathers. This is what he plans for us, total slavery and domination and a 3rd world country! Wake up folks, it’s almost to late already!

  • http://naver Brady

I understand that there may be people in this country who don’t have health insurance, but it is usually the ones on welfare or are too lazy to go out and get some type of coverage. Let’s remind people of two of our founding principles of self reliance and personal responsibility. A federal health care program is unconstitutional and is not what our founding fathers wanted for this country of ours. The president should stand before us on national TV and declare an end to the self destructive welfare state. Sanctifying everyone on it as a victim and remind them that this country was built and preserved by people who refused to be victims. Hand up and not hand outs.

    • Vikoria

This is a selfish statement. There are plenty of people out there working and working and can’t afford the health insurance premiums, all they want is reasonable premiums and no pre-existing conditions. May be you are a fortunate person of good health, if so, may you keep it forever, but do not judge all people with the the same measuring stick. People should also aks themselves “why do we have so many people on welfare?” what is our social net like? Viktoria

      • DaveH

Selfish, Vikoria? You want to force people to buy Health Insurance and add a middle-man to their Healthcare costs? You want to force Insurance Companies and their policy holders to pay for somebody’s pre-existing conditions? You want to dictate lower profits for the Health Insurance Companies who already have lower profit ratios than many other sectors of the economy? From the below article:
“the truth is that health insurance companies’ five-year average profit margin is about 5.3 percent”.
        http://www.aetna.com/about-aetna-insurance/initiatives/health-care-reform/myth-realities.html

The free market offers a choice. You do not have to buy their Health Insurance. You can do like me and many other people choose to do – Don’t buy it! But what you really want to do is get on free ride on the shoulders of others who would be your unwilling slaves.

You, my dear are the selfish one.

      • Norm

        DaveH
Unfortunatly most of the people who “don’t buy it” are the people who need it the most, and are the people who free load on the system.
People who can prove that they can afford the cost of medical care, I agree, should be exempt. But they are a small group.

      • Denise

Vikoria — to answer your question, the reason we have so many people on welfare is because of liberal policies. It has created a culture of dependency and entitlement. Look at all the big cities in this country, and look at the slums, violence, drugs, unemployment, drop-out rates, single parent households, etc. etc. The vast majority of cities, the worst of the worst in particular, are run, and have been run for decades, by Democrats!! Democrats who keep promising more goodies, and a better tomorrow. Which of course never comes. These politicians only take care of themselves and their cronies. They steal our hard-earned money for the supposed good of others. HA! It’ll never happen. You can’t “buy” better lives for people. A better life comes from within. Politicians prefer to keep people in poverty — keep them dependent on Big Brother. That’s how they keep getting their votes. Giving goodies, paid for by working Americans, and always promising more. And the recipients don’t have to give anything back in return. It’s pathetic. It’s insane. And it’s unsustainable.

People have to wake up and stand on their own two feet. The government is not their daddy. Obama is not their daddy. There comes a time when ALL able-bodied people need to take care of themselves and their own families. This country is on its way to financial ruin. We’re on the fast track, thanks to Obama and his socialist friends. Once he’s completely broken the capitalist system, where will the revenue come from then? The govt doesn’t produce anything remember? They have no revenue until they first take it from someone else. If the producers are bled dry and put out of business, where is Big Brother going to get the money then? I repeat….time for able-bodied adults to stand on their on two feet and find a way to make it. It takes hard work and sacrifice, but there is no better feeling in the world than the feeling of accomplishment and worthiness.

As for your comment regarding good health being equal to good fortune……in the majority of cases good health and good fortune have nothing to do with one another. How many people out there are committed to good health? How many people out there make healthy choices every day to stack the deck in their favor? When 20-25% of the people smoke, and almost 3/4 of our population is over-weight or obese, I would say not nearly enough. I am tired of paying for everyone’s bad choices!!! Most people have access to the internet…..instead of parking their fat, lazy arses in front of the tv every night why don’t they do go on the internet and educate themselves about diet and nutrition? Why don’t they go out for a walk? Why are they moving more and eating less crap?

The cost of health care will go down in this country when more Americans chose a healthy lifestyle and abandon the cigarettes, donuts, soft drinks, Doritos, processed foods, junk food, etc, — and move their bodies more!!

Vikoria, the quality of your health has more to do with the choices YOU make than the money I give you!!

      • Barbara

Denise, you are so right, and thanks for putting it in print, in plain language that states it as it is!

      • Ken123

I’ll take a healthy smoker ten times faster than a lazy SOB who expects to get something for nothing. Smoking is a personal choice as is the puchase or non-purchase of health insurance. I damned sure don’t need my government making my health decisions for me nor taxing me to pay for someone else’s coverage. People, death is inevitable, we all will die and meet our maker someday. Let’s not let our government take our god-given rights of free choice from us in the name of health.

Socialized medicine is not the answer for free people, it’s just government control of the weak.

      • Denise

Ken, I know where you’re coming from, I really do. But, here’s the rub:

        1) True, the govt has no business telling you what you can and cannot do with your health. But I do wish more people would stop being slaves to cigarettes and quit the deadly, nasty habit. The smoker’s choice to smoke means higher insurance premiums for all of us. That’s a fact. And for those of us who don’t smoke, it sucks.
        2) How many smokers say it’s my right to smoke, but then when they get sick with cancer or COPD or Cardiovascular disease, also say, it was my choice to smoke, therefore I alone expect to bear the financial burden for the consequences of my actions? I’m guessing not many. Just saying. Your choice, our dime. It sucks.

Lastly, sorry, but I can’t resist asking: Is there really such a thing as a “healthy smoker”? Some may “appear” healthy today….but it’s only a matter of time. There is no up side to smoking. Sorry. It’s an unhealthy habit, plain and simple.

I implore you Ken, if you smoke, don’t be a slave to the cig companies one more day! You don’t want to be a slave to govt, but you allow yourself to be one to cig companies?! You have fallen into their trap, they control you, and you allow it. Control yourself…kick the butts to the curb. Today! You’ll never regret it. No more shame. No more stink. No more shortness of breath. More money in your pocket. More spring in your step. More years on your life. Go for it!

      • JC

Denise, I like what you say and I’m not starting an argument…BUT! ;)
I think most smokers die younger and cost less in the long run. They also pay more taxes on cigarettes. And as a smoker I can tell you that for me personally, I won’t be doing the Frankenstein Chemo Therapy. I’d rather make peace and stick a .45 in my mouth.
Which leads me to another personal right….Guns!

Denise we can’t have it both ways, you’re in the social engineering business or you aren’t. So after smokers who would be next? Fat people?

Again not starting an argument, just demonstrating a thought.

      • DaveH

Very good comments, Denise and Ken.

      • JC

Think that last one through Dave…it’s about “choices” right?
        The freedom to choose…

      • paul

we need people like Denise in office, she is 100% correct,i am a old disabled-vet.i get only enough to live on for 2 weeks of the month,so i sell items on the internet,i taught myself how to use a pc.anyone can buy stuff on ebay and turn around and sell it for more money right on ebay, they got so many good deals you cnat buy them all,if you do buy all the good deals go to ebay.france or australia ebay and buy stuff turn around and sell it.anyone can make money with a pc.we all need to pray the dems and this healthcare bill goes down in flames,it is too expensive, and will NOT give us better health care.many vets do not know they can use the va system,if you served over 6 months in any service, the va healthcare system will give you a dr,in many cases it is free, depends on your income.but if broke, just go to any va hospital, there you give them a dd214 and you will get a dr.i did not know the va changed things in the 1980′s so you do not have to be retired military, nor injured in combat.they will see any vet who has 6-months in service.

They also need to ban all alcohol and wine. Get the drunks off the road. All alcohol is make people alcoholics. Ban smoking. Ban Pot. Force everyone to be healthy. Ban all junk food. Clean this country up.

      • Tom

And because so many people get injured in auto accidents, we really need to ban driving.

      • Denise

No one is saying ban anything…..only that individuals should take financial responsibility for the consequences of their choices, whatever they may be, not the collective.

      • Jana

Uh oh Cella, do you smoke pot too????

      • Time

        Chello,
So your a total control freek, “petty tyrant” I have a great idea, Let’s ban you, rather than you tell everyone what they can and can’t do.

      • eyewideopen

Ah, the voice of the conservatives, who want to control your life AND they have the nerve to critize the dems, too funny, just hypocritical, Cella, what kind of clothes do you want everyone to wear, Brown Shirts??? lmao.

      • cr747

        No eyes,,
We wouldn’t look right in the same color you wear.. Besides brown reminds me to much of how the president acts.. Do you know what is Long and Brown has 4 Wheels and Lays on the ground.. Give Up?? A turd, I was joking about the wheels.. Reminds me how messy the president and the Democrats are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • cr747

        Denise,,
Being a Lawyer I have to agree with your statements 100%.. Smoking is a bad habit,, and a habit that without will power cannot be overcome.. Smoking takes life’s everyday.. I lost a Brother-in-law to smoking.. I do not smoke or drink,, and I don’t condone anyone that does smoke..
For your on health,, and well being I strongly encourage anyone that smokes to at least give it all the will power you have got for your own good..

Start a healthy diet,, and exercise program fit for you with a trainer.. Believe me you won’t regret it,, and you will have a different outlook on life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Joe H.

        cr747,
I disagree, they can quit if they TRULY want to and make up their mind to. They can’t do it for others like wife, kids, mother, or father, you have to do it for yourself. I smoked for almost 40 years and quit on my own, no gum, no patches, no crutches. I carried a half pack around in my pocket for a week. Every time I took out that pack, I looked at it and said NO, I’m stronger than you! I chewed gum like a cow chewing a cud, and still do, but I quit and have been free for ten years. Started at 11 years old and quit at 49! If you truly want to quit you WILL!!

      • Norm

        cr747
Holy Crap I actually agree with your comment in principle.
I gave up smoking 25 years ago and it’s difficult but far from impossible. I drink my share of red wine and believe, in moderation, it is a positive.

      • Ken123

Pre-Existing Conditions??? If this scam passes, can I get fire insurance after my house is on fire? Let’s get some common logic in this debate. Insurance is a odds business, the Insurance Company is betting that only a few of it’s policy holders will file a valid claim which can be paid from revenue profits without destroying the company.

      • Cella

You are so right Ken. Maybe DNA testing should be done, and if they think someone could get breast cancer in the next 30 years they should cut them off now. Why should the insurance company pay because your family has bad genes.

      • Claire

Cella—Be careful of what you say. You may be one of those women that get breast cancer.

      • Phil

It’s the rightwingers and Republicans that are overweight and also smokers….how do I know?… Next time you see a tea party protest look at the people there…. These people will be needing healthcare soon….you know as well as I , if it was the republicans asking for healthcare you rightys would think it’s wonderful….You rightys didn’t have a problem with Bush wasting trillions on Iraq but president Obama wants to
actually spend money on Americans you oppose it… Why?ohh Iraq thanks you for their healthcare… We paid for it… Still are… I also think we owe them healthcare after killing close to a million Iraqis … I saw a new artical this morning about birth defects caused by radioactive weapons we used aginst them… You rightys should be very proud..

      • J C

As opposed to you lily livered latte licking lettuce eating parasites?
Fine…at least we recognize each other! ;)

      • Radical RW’er

Phil – you espouse moronic filth and recite perfect statist lies. Move to Cuba if you hate freedom & the US so much. I’m sick of hearing about the “trillions” spent on the war – honestly do you get your figures from the Daily Kos? I’ve checked it out and we were up to 600B – a few months ago. This was even a liberal website.

      • Time

        Phil,
So now your an outright bigot too.
WOW, you just never stop do you.

      • cr747

        Phil,,
The biggest part of those Iraqi’s where killed by their on people.. Don’t go and try to blame the US for all those deaths.. Even before we entered Iraq they where fighting and killing each other,, and they are still doing it today..

You and Norm need a little refresher course on your history,, and a little common sense!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Joe H.

Phil the phool, those “radioactive” weapons we used were spent heads. they can be handled all day and not cause a problem. Our troops handle them all the time. Please check on what you spew before you go Anti-American!!!! Try to know what you are talking about. those are a new armor piercing type of ammo. Have you heard of “depleted uranium”??

      • Marc

And Agent Orange still causing birth defects in Vietnam….in addition to our own troops that were there. And I was there…….

      • cr747

        Phil,,
If you saw an article on birth defects, then it was not because of The United States.. We have not used anything that would cause any radiation whatsoever.. Make sure you get your stories straight,, and learn a little bit of what you are talking about before letting your mouth overload your rear end..

Things are bad enough without you having to make up lies,, and blowing off on something that is entirely a big LIE.. In other words keep your trap shut.. People are sick and tired of people like you Norm,, and others spouting off about something that you have no clue of what you are talking about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Jana

CR747, I have completely disregarded certain people and do not even bother reading their posts. Phil and Norm are among them. They post absolutely nothing worth reading.

      • cr747

Marc,, I was there to.. I happened to be a fighter pilot.. I was around the agent orange,, but I’m not crying the blues,, just hated the welcome home from hell..
Got a lot better welcome home from Iraq,, and it was not near as bad as Vietnam.. I lost some very close friends.. One is still MIA,, I fly a POW-MIA FLAG 24/7–365 days a year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • eyewideopen
      • Jana

Yeah sure, just more leftist propaganda. You have to take these sights with a grain of salt, and blinders on as you know you are being lied to.

      • Lorene

My question is why can they not afford to provide insurance to their family? I raised four Children and worked in plants all my life. I wonder is it because they are going to movies? buying pop? Junk food? I had insurance for mine and even the short period of time I didn’t when they got sick, I paid for it. me! out of my pocket. Nobody gave me a handout, no body supported my kids. We didn’t have the finest of everything but we had love and we had free parks I took them to. They had many friends over, it didn’t cost so much that I could not afford insurance. Now we have the give me generation, and I am told shame on you that you don’t want to pay for their Health care. This so called Health Care is NOT free, it is going to cost us all, yes all, very dearly. I hope our State says NO because I am going to be right there by them saying the same thing.

      • Arkham Grundy

I have several friends who, when diagnosed with a serious illnesses after paying their insurance premiums for years, were dropped by their insurance companies for trumped up reasons. Then, because they now had “pre-existing conditions” could not buy insurance elsewhere.

These hard working, play-by-the-rules people are now going bankrupt, and one of their kids will die.

Is this the kind of health care system you support?!

      • paul

in cases like this, this ins.company is wrong and should be sued.which is why we have lawyers.this problem can be addressed without turning all our healthcare and decisions over to the us goverment!!!!,it is sad when this happens, and it does happen, but to turn over the whole health care system, because of a few bad ins companys is down right crazy.those ins.companys should bear the responciability, this can be taken care of at the state level of goverment, sorry for your friends, they should of got a good lawyer.paul

      • markk

paul I doubt seriously that Ark G really has that many friends that this happened to. When Obumma tried to play this game it was proven false (aka: lies).
The Quran says its alright to lie to an infidel, and the socialists have adopted that tactic.

      • JC

Exactly! So what kind of lawmakers do we have that have given us a legal system where this can happen? The trick here is get government OUT of the health care business…not take it over.

      • Cella

I am so with you. Why can’t these people pay a couple a thousand dollars a month for insurance? Who do they think they are. Even though the costs have gone up 39 percent in California. That is a small price to pay for insurance coverage for their family. You know if someone makes 12 dollars an hour that is 480 dollars a week. If they are lucky they could put their kids on the state insurance program and just forgo any insurance for themselves. If they make 12 dollars an hour they do not deserve insurance.

      • Arkham Grundy

Many “good Christians” are so worried about someone “undeserving” getting something they forget the basic philosophy of their own faith. Did Christ ask for insurance cards before healing the poor?

      • libertytrain

Arkham – I doubt if He asked anyone else in the crowd to ante up for the guy’s healing either or ask for insurance cards. I think He did it cause He could.

      • Jana

Lorene, you are so right. Most of those who can’t afford insurance, and even those who are on welfare are those you see eating out at these fast food places several times a week.

I take my lunch to work, I cook meals at home, and we may eat out maybe once a month. That is a choice we have made to be able to have some financial control over our lives.

Taking advantage of parks and playing outdoors and not spending on renting movies and things that cost a lot are viable options. It seems that everyone has to be entertained any more. We see the commercials of people camping out and all of them are on their cell phones or whatever they are. (I have no need for anything other than the basic cell.) The monthly bill for these other things are expensive and that sure could be cut out too.

We teach our children that they have to have the most expensive toys, and designer clothes, but we fail to teach them family values, morals, and even manners.

      • Claire

        Jana—Well spoken.

      • Joe H.

        Jana,
We already get taxed for the library so “rent” them there!!! We do it all the time. I don’t buy books other than political as I can get them there. I figure if I’m going to be charged for it anyway I might as well get something for it!!!

      • Jana

Great idea Joe. I use the library already for checking out books so might as well go all the way and use the videos.

      • Claire

Jana and JoeH–my town is in such dire straits that they closed 3 of our libraries. All we have left is the main library downtown and the parking situation is a nightmare. And the homeless camp in front of the building at night. And they leave one heck of a mess. I think you can imagine what I mean, it is deplorable. But I will still go there to get my books.

      • Dennis

Its a dam sham that this country has fallen so far down that we can’t even teach our children the true history of this country and what it was built on.

      • June R

I personally know of people that don’t have any insurance at all. They
have access to any hospital they choose to go to. The truth is, the
hospital cannot refise to treat them. I know of one man that owes well
over $200,000.00 and does not pay any on the bill. He keeps going back
when the need arises. They don’t refuse him.

      • Cella

You are so on the point. But, the first thing to do is kick all seniors off Medicare. Let them go out and buy it on the open market like everyone else. I am sure they would love to get off government run (welfare insurance) Who do they think they are getting cheep health care dragging the cost for everyone else paying full price up. Next on the agenda. anyone in a nursing home on Medicaid, kick them out. My dad pays 5000 dollars a month. He is 85 years old and has to pay his own bill. This country spends over a billion dollars a year paying nursing homes for seniors on Medicaid. I am tired of paying for these people. They should have saved enough money to pay their own bill. Many have moved or hidden their money so that they qualify for Medicaid. Many have already given their money to their kids so they can stay free from the government paying for their care. Next thing to get rid of is FEMA. If you build a mansion on the ocean and a hurricane blows it down…..too bad. Or if a tornado blows your house down, too bad. Hope you have insurance to rebuild it. I am sick of rebuilding everyone a new house.

      • Phil

Cella, I’m with you… If these senior citizens are dumb enough to get old why should we have to pay for Medicare … They’re just a drag on our country…..same with the people that have lost their jobs, they must be lazy… And if they’re dumb enough to catch cancer the hell with them… Why should we pay…they can always go to an emergency room for great treatment…. Same with the children of these bums that lost jobs, if their parents were so lazy to lose their jobs I don’t want to pay for healthcare for these bloodsucking children….and why should us hard working republicans and conservatives have to pay for the goverment to do research on cancer, heart disease, MS and anyother disease these lazy people get…. We all know anybody that gets a terminal disease must be a lowlife liberal….I’m tired of paying for these sickly lazy scums……. But let’s make sure we protect the unborn babys so we can deny them healthcare if they’re dumb and liberal enough to become sick and you know these sickly old people , babys and leeching liberal only get sick so they can have a free ride on my dollar…

      • Cella

Phil, I am with you. Everyone in this country wants only what will benefit them. God help them all…….

      • Jana

Phil’s brilliant statement says it all, and Cella agrees. Too funny.

      • cr747

        Cella and Phil,,
You two have got to be the biggest JOKES on here.. Do you think that someday you will be a senior citizen.. Maybe not,,then you won’t have to realize what the seniors of our society are going through..

You two are a complete waste to breathing up the oxygen and taking it away from the one’s that need it most.. Both of you should be ashamed of the accusations that you both made.. What a disgrace to society!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Claire

cr747 — And I agree with you 100% — Thank you, finally, someone with some common sense.

      • Claire

Cella– Well, I can tell you one thing, if you live long enough and Medicare is still in effect, how are you going to feel when someone wants to kick you out of Medicare/Medicaid? Your are not going to stay young forever so start saving your money kid, you’re going to need it.

      • eyewideopen

Phil, they didn’t get that you were being facetious. You can’t be a liberal with rantings like that. Cella, was serious. But maybe we should cancel all of medicare and let everyone but the rich die. They can afford insurance at all costs, so let’s just do away with the medicare program.

      • Time

Jane, A very good point you bring up.
We know a guy I will call him Dennis just for fun, thats not his name but as I said its just for fun.

Well Dennis is 62 years old, he has never held a job for longer than six months, yet he wants to be paid in cash for his work, when he works. He has never paid a single cent in to SS or Income tax.

Yet when he drank his liver and kidneys into near total faliure, he got medical care / aid from “Medicaide,” yes indeed he has had now well over $350.000.00 dollars worth of aid / care paid for by the US Tax payer.
He still smokes, does; Coke as in Cane, drops acid now and then, still drinks, and again has never paid a single cent into anything.
You ask him how to get money from the state and he knows every trick in the book.

Guess what – He is 100% all in for the “Barry care package,”

We offerd to pay him to wash our cars, once a week and pay him $100.00 per week, he turned us down, why you may ask?

He explained that his time is worth $55.00 per hour, he has {zero work skills at anything,} but wants $55.00 per hour.
He quoted us $275.00 to wash our cars once per week.

And as a fringe benifit’s he also wanted to be able to drive the cars for the day, BUT; he has “no licence, nor insurance.” As far as I can tell he has never driven a car.
And to add to that he also wanted us to provide him with lunch and dinner, of what he handed me a list of foods he can’t eat. But oddly what he can eat is top shelf stuff, yes indeed he can eat Crab, Shrimp, and Lobster, only USDA Grade Prime beef, and steamed veggies.
Of what were all on his lunch and dinner menues he handed us.

We didn’t hire him for the obvious reasons.

Yet he complains all the time when we see him about what rotten doc’s he has and that he should sue them for the misshandling of his Health Care.

This is a claer example of whats out there he is just one of Millions!

Add to this, he is on welfair and gets food stamps, shops at the most expencive food store we have around. And yet even gets his appartment paid for by the state!
Yea its a nice water front apartment with a view even. All his bills are paid for by the US Tax Payers.

And if anyone wants to know whats wrong with the US now, this is a clear example of whats wrong, and again he is just one of the MILLIONS like him!

      • Cella

Time, your story is so stupid. Nice ocean front apartment on Medicaid. Almost 300 dollars to wash your car. Your spelling is really bad. It is so easy to type a letter wrong once in a while, but yours is so bad it is laughable.

      • Phil

Time, I believe your story about as much as I believed Bushs case for war aginst Iraq…. I have to tell you that I believe your story is a LIE…. Why don’t you throw a few bible quotes at me to convince what a fine rightwing Christian you are….only an idiot would believe the hogwash you posted..did your nose grow… Disgusting..

      • Time

        ChellO and Phile,
No lie’s all 100% TRUE, So Bubbas thats just the way it is in Wilmington NC, land of a lot of flakes.
Hey you too would fit right in there. Land of the Crack heads.

      • Claire

Phil —Your comment “If these senior citizens are dumb enough to get old” is one the stupidest things I have ever read on these sites. You should be careful making childish and immature statements like this since you could very well die at a young age. Is this what you want? When you were a young child, did your parents ever teach you to have respect for your elders or respect for anything in life? Yes, I am a senior and proud of it. I have had a good life and am fortunate in many ways. I hope to continue my good life for a long time. And I will match my wits with yours any day of the week. Maybe with age, and I do hope you live long enough in spite of yourself, you will learn the facts of life and realize how silly you are for making statements like this. Life is precious.

      • paul

most states have a budget set aside for indigent care, they will pay his bills, and most likely have been paying them.our local hosp.ask you to sign a form if you need assistance when you first go in with a problem.some people cannot pay, others may just be after pain meds.he may be one of those, paul

      • George McMurtry

Vikoria, I totally agree with you for the need for reform of the current insurance industry practices and the Federal government does have the Constitutional right to regulate across State lines. The Feds can mandate that any insurance company selling health insurance must sell it anywhere in the 50 States at the same policy cost structure. The Feds do not have the right to usurp the States rights, which is what obamacare does. I have a 3 year old granddaughter with leukemia so, believe me when I say I want reform – but not 2,700 pages of madness and big brother.
As to Welfare, welfare begets welfare. The system is broken and must be abolished. Welfare works best on a local level, it always has. The local churches and synagogues, the food kitchens, the local merchants making donations and hiring the “hard up” soul. We are now into the 4th generation of Welfare – 4 generations used to getting something for nothing. That cycle must be broken.

      • DonFL

Victoria people on welfare do have medical insurance. Just like Senators they pay nothing and have the best care FREE on you and me

    • Cathy

I do not have health insurance. I don’t want to go to doctors who just give you pills to alleviate the symptoms and don’t cure the cause. So, I’m into NATURAL cures. Those prescription drugs have many side effects that are killing more people than the freakin’ diseases they’re treating. Of course, “they” don’t admit that fact.

      • Jana

Cathy, actually neither do I. However, I have put aside money every month as though I did. When it hits $2500. I put it into a CD. It has come in handy a few times, and I will also add that when I do go to the Dr. I watch every penny that is spent to make sure its necessary. People on Ins. just go in and don’t pay attention to the details of their bills. One more reason for Ins. to be so expensive.

      • Cathy

I also no longer smoke and am a vegetarian too. I go to a doctor in Tijuana once a year for blood work, chelation, foot bath (detox), and whatever else I might decide to do. This doctor helps his patients beat cancer, diabetes, hepatitis, MS…you name it, with homeopathic treatment and DIET consisting of alkaline food. Disease cannot exist in an alkaline environment.

      • eyewideopen

Cathy, are you on the PH Miracle diet?

    • Norm

      Brady
Every time you use the medical system you pay for the uninsured. You also pay the multimillion dollar salaries of the insurance execs. American healthcare is a disaster and is getting worse daily (20%-30% increases this year alone). The current Senate plan is flawed, but I believe it will be cheaper and more efficient in the long haul.

      • Time

        Norm,
I guess you would also say that the Post Office is loosing money, but in the long run it will get better, right?

Or that Social Security that will be totaly broke in just 10 years will make money someday, right?

Or that Medicaid that is now totaly broken will some day make money. right?

Dude look I know you have a brain as I see some flashs of light now and then, but for GOD sake man, will you please wake up.

      • Norm

        Some wisdom from Warren Buffet:

Buffett said health care costs are a major drain on U.S. businesses that put them at a competitive disadvantage. He said America’s health care system needs fundamental reform to attack costs because it’s not practical to continue devoting roughly 17 percent of the nation’s gross domestic product to health care.

Buffett said much of the rest of the world is paying about 9 percent of their GDP on health care and have more doctors and nurses per person.

“That kind of a cost, compared with the rest of the world, is like a tapeworm eating at our economic body,” Buffett said.

He said he hopes Congress will develop a new health care reform proposal that will restrict costs more than any of the current plans would.

      • TIME

Norm, I really don’t care what Buffet has to say, we here in the US support the helath care plans in these Europen states he noted.

How? They pay pennys on the dollar for their meds and scripts, WE here in the US pay the differance, thus its passed on in all ways to YOU the persons who have Health Insurance.

So this also carrys through to equipment that they buy. I know this first hand, we here in the US make up the differance in what they loose selling such products to the European states.

Whats that add up to, Higher cost in scripts and meds, as well equipment cost, all of what is passed on to you.

So Mr. Buffets numbers are wrong from the start.

Why do we pay a lot for Health Insurance here in the US note the above reasons for a start?

        Then add in Government interference.
Lacking abilitys by Federal laws for these companys to cross state lines.
Crazy malpractice insurance rates due to frivolous law suits.
Crazy amounts of money given to persons who win such laws suits.

Who do you people think pays the differance?
“Anyone who has health insurance,” Thats who.

This plan of Barry’s is from page one “100% wrong” and anyone who has a single brain cell can clearly see that.

Its nothing more than control from Birth to the Grave.
Have you read any of it? I can’t fathom you have if anyone read it
they would never say they want it.

Why This plan is so great will the Congress and Senate and Barry not sign up for it, and toss their current plans?
Why is that? You know why. Its stinks rotten to the core.

      • eyewideopen

Time, they pay lower costs as they negotiate with Big Phrma. That is something that Medicare Advantage prevents the government from doing. Why? because the repubs wanted to reward the Big Phrma and that was the best way to give them subsidies. Welcome to United Corporations of America.

Republicans had about 1/3 of the speak time and still managed to hammer the democrats who kept repeating the same highlights that we’ve been hearing. They were ill prepared and are either that dumb or just haven’t had time to read Stearn’s 2,700 page bill yet.

They’re not dumb David. It would be impossible for anybody to successfully defend their crooked ill-conceived agenda. All the rest of us need to do is get educated in reality, and the Liberals won’t stand a chance in a legitimate debate.

      • Norm

        DaveH
You obviously didn’t watch the presidents so called “health meeting”. The right wing Republicans looked like what they are, obstructionists.
It was political theater on both sides but Cantor, Bohner, McConnel, and several others were so nasty it was hard to believe they are American citizens, much less a part of our government.
If they really want save tax dollars they should resign. Maybe others might actually bring some ideas to the table.

      • George McMurtry

Let’s see Norm, if someone invited you to a discussion on what your health insurance was already predetermined to be – and you had zero input, in fact you had been shut out of all the closed door meetings that determined your fate, you would be thrilled, wouldn’t you? It is difficult arguing with idiots, but not impossible.

      • Phil

George, you didn’t pay attention to the healthcare summit did you…. Republicans were dismissing parts of the bill that they had put in the bill themselves… They’re goal was just to stall and kill the bill , nothing more. They had no intention of cooperating … So now were going to use Reconciliation just like Bush did to give tax cuts to the rich ( which will expire in 2011) and if you don’t like reconciliation then ” tough” you had your chance to participate…

      • George McMurtry

        Phil,
I paid more attention than you did. Have you read the 2,700 page monstrosity, I have. There is not one thing in that bill that didn’t come from one of the closed door meetings. There is absolutely nothing about tort reform (we must keep the trial lawyers happy), insurance industry reform that trumps the States and forces all health insurance packages to be sold anywhere in the 50 states, nothing on Medicare reform (and there are 10′s of billions in fraud and corruption that could be eliminated). These are the things the Republicans were pushing for – they are not in this bill. I am not a Republican. I have voted both ways my entire adult life and I am a registered independent who doesn’t trust either party. I have started six high tech businesses, the current one in 2005. I ain’t no dummy and I know a snake oil salesman when I see one and there is one in the Oval office. He got that snake oil from Alinsky and Ayres and the wonderful Reverend Wright and his racist professor buddy at Harvard and on and on and on. What he is should be obvious to anyone with average intelligence. If you don’t see that then God help you – nobody else will.

      • DaveH

Are you still going on about Bush’s tax cuts, Pill? Give it a rest. Heaven forbid we should let the 1% of wage earners that pay 40% of the income tax bill keep a little more of their money.
You are just a common thief who thinks giving away other peoples’ money is charity.

      • JC

The Bill that His Hopiness is trying to pass is Communist and unConstitutional much like Changey Boy himself. Both need to be flushed. There’s no debate here…none.

      • Cathy

I keep seeing all this moaning about “tax cuts for the rich”…how many of you libs have ever worked for a poor person? Capital gains taxes are NOT just for the rich…they also affect small investors (like me).

And as far as deficits and tax cuts, here’s how it works: Tax cuts to small businesses (those evil rich people) and then they hire more employees who in turn pay more taxes which decreases the deficit…UNLESS the spending continues. Why is this so hard to understand?

Right now small businesses are NOT hiring because they are worried about what taxes are coming there way, thanks to the current administration, who has it ALL WRONG. It’s all a matter of common sense, which apparently does not exist in this government.

      • usmadgirl

        George McMurtry,

You are right on the money & you’ve proven that it’s not IMPOSSIBLE to argue with idiots…I’m not naming names! It’s just impossible to understand where they come up with their illogical ideas!

      • Norm

        George McMurtry
The Republican Congressmen and Senators had plenty of opportunity to contribute to the discussions. I believe it was Senator Demint who said he wanted any healthcare bill endorsed by Obama to fail. Waterloo was the the way he put it.
By idiots I assume your reffering to the Republicans or maybe the brilliant “zack” above.

      • eyewideopen

DaveH, you keep using the 1% pay 40, totally forgetting that the people making 153,500 to 388,500 pay the other 60 %. So in other words the middle class is paying more into the system, while having a lower salary and standard of living. You probably should be using your 1% mantra, makes the really, really rich types look bad. Why don’t you ever mention that 2/3 of the corporations don’t pay any taxes at all? Hiding that fact?

      • David

Norm even your beloved CNN said the democrats looked like idiots while the Republicans came with real content to fix the problem. Obama looked like a scorned play ground bully. He literally got his a$$ kicked.

So now he offers to take the 2,700 page bag of garbage, sprinkle powdered sugar (a couple republican ideas) on top and expect us to eat it? No! That’s why it has to be rammed down our throat.

      • mel

Real content? really, I lost count of how many times I heard, “start over with a clean sheet of paper” and I had the thing on all day.
I think the most some of you obviously saw were snippets on Fox news.
Face it, it’s been debated ad nausium for over a year, time to act.
Anything productive the republicans had to offer is in the bill in one form or another. And no, I don’t for a second believe either of you Davids have read 100 pages let alone 2700.

      • Joe H.

        Mel,
Gee, that’s funny, cause that’s what 70% of the people were saying also. Maybe you don’t believe in the reps representing the people they were supposed to, right???? your Obummer wants to pass something by a 51% margin yet you don’t think 70% should be listened to! Real AMERICAN of you!!!

      • john

Norm has a point, DAVEH, on the top of his head to hang Prez. DAN’s hat.

      • DaveH

        Norm,
We don’t want the Government involved in our health care decisions, Period. There is no compromising on that.

      • Norm

        DaveH
Medicare, Medicaid, Veterans medical care. You don’t have government involvement? It’s there. It’s just fragmented and inefficiant. Incidently the Senate plan (which has already passed by 61 votes), as bad as it is, has no government option. It does require everyone to be insured the same as with auto insurance. Can you imagine the costs if people elected to have car insurance?

      • George E

        Norm,

Of the government health care programs you mentioned, Medicare appears to get the best rating by the American people, based on my reading of the situation. However, it has some serious problems like underpayments to health care providers which appears to be forcing more and more providers out of the program. This will make it more and more difficult to get health care under Medicare as time goes along. Medicare has also been reported as denying care more often than commercial insurance programs for all their problems. Finally, Medicare is bankrupting the country because more and more of the cost is being pushed off on the taxpayer at an unsustainable rate. Some of us just don’t want another government-run health care program. We can look ahead and see where all this is leading and we don’t like the destination. We think the private sector can and should provide care better than the government. However, some of us will concede that the government probably should support and guide these private sector programs to some minimum extent.

      • DaveH

        First of all Norm,
I don’t have to imagine the costs. I was there before Mandatory Auto Liability Insurance. And we got along just fine. Since it is mandatory now, of course the costs have gone up as it creates a captive audience. As a result, the people we need most protection from can’t afford it and skirt the law.
But you are mixing apples and oranges as usual. Auto Liability is to protect potential victims of an auto driver, not the driver. Unlike in the Healthcare Bill where you are trying to force the person to protect himself not somebody else. You have stated before that Health Insurance is too expensive, so your solution is to add Government Bureaucrats to the costs, and force people to buy that uneconomical product? You Liberals are unreal. How do you stay afloat on those clouds?

      • eyewideopen

DaveH, people are forced to purchase Home Owners insurance, car insurance, yes, years ago, before we had 305million people, things were different. Someone hit you wrecked your car, injured you, you got attorney and sued. Now if a Dr. cuts off wrong leg, some of the states have cap, that you can only collect $250,000. Not alot for a leg. The reason insurance became mandatory is that some refuse to get it, leaving your insurance to cover you, then they raise your rates, when you were the victim in the accident. Same kind of thing, with people who have no healthcare insurance, they go to hosp, have surgery, it costs 50k, they don’t pay, and the rest of us have our premiums go up. People don’t want to be responsible for their own care, that’s why everyones cost goes up. If those who don’t want insurance would post a 75k bond guarranteed that they will pay if they get hospitalized, that would work. But since the average savings of 55-64 yr olds is less than 48k, you can see why those with no insurance can’t pay for emergency visits requiring surgery can’t you?

      • Radical RW’er

Political theater with Obama as the leading role! Get your knee high boots on and start marching. Here comes the government intrusion into our lives and the blatant disregard of our Constitution.

      • cr747

        Norm,,
Sorry to tell you,, but the A$$HOLE leading this group was the one that treated the Republican’s like they didn’t even exist.. Obama is the most arrogant,, disrespectful,, uneducated president the US has ever had in office..

Will continue to be that way until November when the,”WE THE PEOPLE,” vote out all the idiots that are following him,, and we get someone in there to IMPEACH him,, and get this country back on track!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • JC

        Exactly cr, exactly right.

      • Norm

        cr747
You the people are a right wing extremist minority.

      • cr747

        Norm,,
After November you will be looking at a lot of sick people,,even the president himself..

I’m beginning to believe what zack said is right about you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • JC

We’ll see how “minority” the conservative movement is in November.

      • cr747

        Norm,,
And just what would you be considered?? Don’t count your chickens until the eggs hatch.. We shall see a lot of crying Democrats in November.. November just happens to be my birth month,, and I am a Scorpio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Weavi

Have you ever seen Obama even look at an idea brought to him by the Republicans???? His idea of bi-partisianship is–You come see me and I will tell give you some double-talk about the healthcare bill-disreguard any of your ideas and tell you to go back to the capitol and vote for MY plan!!!! You know this is not my idea of bi-partisian–they must have changed the dictionary the same way they change the history books!!!! The republicans are doing what their constituents are asking them to do which is go against the obamacare!!! It is a shame the democrats are deaf and blind–or is it simply they don’t give a rats a– what THEIR constituents want??? By the way I probably should not reveal this, but I am a registered democrat but if my party doesn’t wise-up, that will soon change!!! They moved waaaaay out to the left and I refuse to move there!!!!

    • markk

They don’t want to read it they just want to ignore the American peoples wishes and keep on spending. Obumma is depending on this legislation for his so called legacy.

His legacy? Worst President in history, least qualified, and very hard of hearing.

  • Nanette Olson

I didn’t watch it either because I knew it would just be more of Obama’s lies. In calling the summit, Obama thought he was digging a pit for the Republicans to fall in, but instead Obama and his Obamacrats have dug the pit for themselves. The whole summit thing was a big joke and only shows that Obama has no leadership ability.

    • David

I listened to about half of it off and on throughout the day and it was very amusing because the Republicans did come to the table with viable solutions and would not let obama interrupt them with his double speak. Heck even CNN liked it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYkAVtiarRY&feature=player_embedded

      • denniso

Reconciliation is not ‘rigging the rules in the senate’, it is one of the rules itself. And the Repubs used it many times under Bush for major legislation….be honest.

      • Marty

Who cares what has “gone on before “? The point is that Obama
and his minions are determined to shove a disastrous bill they are
calling a “healthcare” bill (but it is so much more…encroaching on
every facet of our constitutional freedoms)down our throats with total
disregard of what responsible Americans want or need. THIS should be
our focus….not who did what, or to whom, at some other time! This is part of our problem…while Obama etc.remain focused on their goals and objectives, Reps are running all over the place, trying to put out this small fire and that burning building, while there is a HUGE forest fire burning that will eventually destroy everything in its’path. We need
        to stay focused, people!

      • Norm

        Marty
When The Republicans use it, it’s “a thing of the past”. When the Dems use it its jamming something down our throats. Double standard???

      • zack

norm has anybody ever told you, you are an idiot? Well you are an idiot

      • AM

Perfect, why should we learn from the past?
I guess you’ve been to the government web sites and read the bills that have been passed?

      • Jana

This is way too important to ram down the American public’s throat. Everyone is acting like its going to take place next year. This isn’t even going to go into effect for several years, yet we will all be paying for it NOW.

Not only that but bo has promised us that our electric rates are going up considerably, and that the coal industry was going to die. Unemployment is still unmentionable. Our pompous Congressmen have stated that we only lost 36,000 jobs last month and they think this is good. Sure they do, they still have their jobs, as well as their raises that they got in January.

Obama, fix the economy first. Remember the old cry that used to be shouted out? “IT’S THE ECONOMY STUPID” Well, it’s till the economy stupid, and I am talking to Obama and the lefties.

      • JC

AM Heres a lesson from the past narrated by Ronald Reagan:
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRdLpem-AAs

      • Cathy

Yeah, for the tax cuts…but this is something that will affect every single person in this country. You’re talking about 1/6th of the GNP. That’s huge. Their arrogance is what is pissing me off in that they think they know better than us. Add to that…the majority of Americans DO NOT WANT this “health care,” which is nothing more than CONTROL. What part of NO don’t they understand?

      • Norm

        Cathy
Tax cuts didn’t effect everybody in the country? Look at the Bush deficits.

      • john

Norm, you moron, tax cuts don’t cause deficits, spending does.

      • Tom

So John says Tax cuts don’t cause deficits. Let’s try an example. If John’s job got sent to China because, as President Bush said, “Outsourcing is good for America,” leaving John with no income, how much will his bank account continue to grow?

      • Mike

Cathy, you couldn’t have been more to the point! Idiot Libs view this as a “tit for tat”, and an opportunity to get theirs. Well, they’ll get theirs, if this bill passes.

For those who are awake, know the disease is not the free markets.
It’s the wolves in sheeples clothing, the almighty INSURANCE COMPANIES, who are the problem. The cure~ Get rid of Insurance Companies all together, and get the costs back in line to where they were historically, that is, up until I.C. came in the picture and screwed things up. We already have medical programs for the poor.

Insurance Companies are directly responsible for driving prices through the roof, and making $BILLIONS$ along the way. And, to top it off, they get to decide who will get care and who will not. Who needs them!

Medical services are already offered to all. What makes it unavailable, is the sky-rocketing costs for those services (inflation not considered).

Doctors and hospitals raise their prices HIGH, as a result of I.C. negotiating the prices down to low levels that are unsustainable to expand care, or even stay in business!

Those who do not have insurance, are the real victims of this I.C. scam! Many go bankrupt! Are we that dumb that we allow there to be a middleman between us and the right to get proper care!

It is not the Dr. who would ever turn us down for a procedure. However, Insurance Companies would do it in a second. Don’t forget that! All in the name of profit.

Now, the goverment is forcing us to get that insurance, or get fined, or even go to jail. How insane is that! That’s tyranny! This goverment needs to go!

Enough is enough! The people have spoken!! However, corrupt politician are still pushing it, even though they know it’s political suicide. This means they have been bought! Vote, all who helped pass this, out of office this fall…and take away their benefits!

      • Jana

Sure Tom, so bo decides to make government bigger and spend spend and spend some more, put us into a bigger debt than ever before, add 7000 more government jobs last month, and that makes sense to you?

What are people thinking with now days?

      • SiliconDoc

They have to try to shove it through by any marxist means possible before the NEXT financial crisis hits with the crushing A R M commercial loans on commercial properties starts hitting mid year.
The people who predicted the first one have predicted the second one coming mid year and the MSM has barely peeped about it.
So the next giant ax is going to fall, and the commies want this in place before that happens so they can more fully implement the new world order – COMMUNISM with a “pretty, modern, regulated, computer controlled, reamed to the hilt, not so private – private sector ” that they can continuously suck the blood out of and claim their new system of soviets for all is an astounding success.
That’s what is really going on.
When the world financial breakdown happens, all those kensyian commies that made certain it would, will be ready to jump for their party comrade spots where they can praise themselves forever while sucking in the govey tax dollars till the day they croak and beyond, while making multi million dollar blood sucking deals for themselves and all their commie friends.
They have a real chance of pulling it off, because they are starting on the (once firm) foundation of free market capitalism.
Their success will stand on how much blood they suck, how quickly, and how well they manage to morph the minds and hearts of the populace to their new world order.

      • JC

Absolutely right Doc. They have an agenda and its on a timer for damned good reason.

      • George McMurtry

Lets get one thing straight denniso, reconciliation has never been used for anything except reconciling budgetary items within a bill. It has never been used to pass significant new legislation and was never meant to. This bill is between 1/5 and 1/6 or our entire economy AND it is unconstitutional, this belongs to the States, not the Feds. Read the Constitution. This is as illegal as Welfare, Medicare and Jimmy Carter’s Department of Education. Thank God America has finally awakened and we will undo what the progressive movement has shoved down our throats for the last century.

      • AM

let’s get this straight, George: Reconciliation is being used to merge the house and the senate bills, not to pass them. The house and senate have already passed their bills.
And by all means, lets go back 100 years, you’d love that because a black man wouldn’t have been able to vote let alone be elected to the white house. call it what it is, Geoge, you’re a racist.

      • markk

Oh yeah and AM is going to play the racist card in here on this.
We aren’t going back 100 years and guess what, the black man can vote. We aren’t talking about 100 years ago, we’re talking about whats going on now.

      • JC

Typical Liberal BS. When they haven’t got anything logical to back themselves up with they start hurling insults. And because we have half black President they’ll resort to the race card because it’s all they’ve got. What a bunch of spoiled children.
Obama’s color is RED…Communist Red. And that’s the only color I see when I look at him.

      • Mike

AM played the race card! Hahaha Enough said! The boy cried wolf too many times! The House and Senate Bills are not even the same bills. You don’t know history very well, except what serves your agenda! Read a little and come back…Leave your race cards at home! You look like a fool!

      • Mike

        JC
Oscama is only +6% African. He’s only half when he needs votes! Red is correctly put!

      • Time

AM or Hi Tim how are you, I see your back to your old self.

      • usmadgirl

        AM,
Here we go again! Where did you come from & what progressive organization is paying you to come to this site to play the “race card”? You can take your “race card” back from where you came! None of the “regulars” on this site play that game & frankly we’re sick of it! Do you liberals forget that he’s HALF WHITE intentionally so you can use the race thing? The biggest racist is O-dumbo himself because he disowned his own white mother!

The “reconciliation” has NEVER been used on ANYTHING as huge or as extreme as this Socialist Health Care take-over hoax! Like you’re even here to discuss that! If you can’t bring something to the table besides the “race card”, then you don’t have anything worth straining my eyes to read!

I’ve had a very bad day & thanks to progressives, I’m having a very bad life so I’m sick of your progressive BS!

      • Jay

It has been used before, but never in such an extremely important piece of legislation that is one sixth of our economy. If you depend on medicare as I do, how would you like to see your only means of medical care taken apart. Wake up Bud, this bill is all about socializing this country. That is what Obama’s agenda is and it won’t stop with health care. Go to Canada (where I was born) and go to Europe and see how well socialized health care works.

      • Cella

Wow Jay. you say you have Medicare. Be prepared to start paying more. Most people working do not have health care. Do you expect them to keep paying for seniors while they can’t pay for their own insurance. The hate for this bill is real. Just remember, everyone is going to be paying more because there is no stopping the high cost of insurance and medicine in this country. Everyone is not a senior, and since they now have government run health care the next step is to do away with it. Make everyone go out and buy it from the insurance companies. If you can not pay your own way join the rest of the country. No pay no insurance.

      • Jana

Cella, these Sr.’s have paid into this all of their lives. I have watched my parents work and work hard to put into Social Security. No, the Government shouldn’t have ever started it, but they shouldn’t have started welfare either on the basis that it is with all of the fraud going on, but it would be wrong to just all of a sudden cut it off like you want to do with Social Security. Evidently with your mindset you have no objections to the death panels that are in the HCRB either. Wow what a sweetheart you are.

      • David

Go ahead and do it democrats, see what happens. The nuclear option was not designed for power grabs (1/6 of the economy) and paying off unions while creating 30 million illegal voters for your cause. I did not know anyone was as stupid as Harry Reid but I think we have both of them on this blog…..denniso & norm.

This legislation has zero benefit for Americans….you know the ones who belong here, mind their business, pay taxes, etc.

      • AM

The nuclear option has nothing to do with reconciliation. they are totally different things. The republicans and their puppets at Fox Noise are LYING about meaning because “nulcear option” sounds more sinister than “reconciliation”.
FACT: The Republicans created the nuclear option and it is; changing the senate rules to eliminate the filibuster. The republicans used it 5 years ago to prevent the democrats from filibustering Bush’s judicial nominee.

      • Radical RW’er

AM – you are the first to interject race! I expect no less than the left to start playing the race card. You are PATHETIC! When you run out of logic and reason – call someone racist if they disagree with your opinion. Grow up.

      • JC

RW….seems like racism is never very far from “their” minds.

      • Mel

No It’s never far from my mind because I open my eyes. Racism is very recognizable for someone that came from the south. I know exactly what is meant when a whit person calls a black person “upity”
you ever heard that term used? It’s used by white folks (mostly in my grandparents time) to describe a black person who dresses nice, has an education, and basically makes a mark for him/her self.
He can say things like “I’m the president” when the pubs are nit picking about hou much time each person has spoken. He is the president and those dumb asses opposing him need to be reminded of that obviously..I am the president so I can say what I want when I want. One of my fav moments of the summit

      • J C

Thanks Mel for the regressive look into an ugly past. Fortunately the “South” as you’ve described it is pretty much gone. So let’s look at the reality of the 21st century…we have been railroaded into having a President who is ineligible to hold that office. His credentials are “community organizer”. Wow! A guy who has been practising communism at street level is now practising it at White House level. His animosity towards America is about as bald faced as it gets and yet somehow we’re supposed to shut up and be patriotic servant to this “dictator lite”. I don’t think so. And that’s got nothing to do with the color of his skin…it’s the color of his (commie red) politics that should have every patriotic American protesting in the streets.

As for his being black? Well he is half black correct? So, other than the typical Liberal race card play, I guess the white world has just as much claim on his ethnicity as the black world…so it’s just not an issue…is it?

      • eyewideopen

JC, dude what country are you living in? KKK dead in south, are you kidding? Just for you, since you are in denial, or on drugs.

Well said!!! I am also on medicare and for the information of these that think we who are receiving medicare are going for a free ride—we paid for our whole working lives and the money is supposed to be credited to our individual accounts!!! The money would be there if the government had kept their hands off!! Now there isn’t much there but a bunch of IOU’s where the government has used it to balance?? the budget so they could look like a big shot. Now they want to take the money in the medicare and use it to pay for everyone else and give us death panels—I guess this sounds fair to you obamacare fans, but it sounds extremely unfair to the most of us. The government has also brought people to the US and then allowed them to draw social security and they have never paid in a dime—again, is this fair???? Now we are too old to work and they say–sorry, we need the money left in your fund to set up this scam so we can fleece the country—–FAIR???? WE MAY BE TOO OLD TO WORK BUT WE CAN STILL VOTE!!!!!!

      • ScottB

        Danniso,
Reconciliation is for “BUDGET BILLS”, not a Health Care Bill. Why do you Liberals keep throwing out the false argument that Bush did it, Bush did it, so it is ok for Obama. The proposed Health Care Bill changes everything related to Health Care forever, and needs a clear super majority in order to build consensus in this Country. If the Dems procede with reconciliation, and are succesful, they will rue the day. Republicans will regain power and at that point all bets are off!

      • Marc

So isn’t that what you want? The Democrats out? What is your beef if doing this accomplishes what you say you want ? Maybe you want them to drop health care and stay in office……getting confused on what you really want…

      • JC

How about we just get rid of the communists and repeal everything they’ve done? Everything!

      • eyewideopen

Scott, you are aware that Reagan also used reconciliation when he increasd our SS taxes in 82. Bruce Bartlett a conservative economist stated that Reagan passed the largest tax increase in America history. http://www.dailyhowler.com/dh103103.shtml

      • Brian H

It was used with bipartisan support, for budget adjustments necessary to get existing bills to work. Never to pass original pieces of legislation, especially controversial ones.

New territory, new arrogance, new destructiveness.

      • skipfoss

Sure Bush used it but not to take over half of the control of the country. I thought it was a health care reform and now we find out they are taking over education loans no more private loans for students so that the gov can decide who gets the money to attend college ,it is hard to tell what we will we will find when tis bullshit bill is opened to the public,if it ever really is. I don’t trust Pelosi or the half breed bastard that has taken over everything he can get his Muslim Communist hands on

    • George McMurtry

What has not been said is the fact that this bill is unconstitutional. If nazi pelosi gets enough DEMs to fall on their swords, it is not over. The States can reject this since it usurps the authority granted to them by the Constitution and its amendments. I believe there are several States that are gutsy enough to follow through with this and then many others will follow. Someone needs to get in obama’s face with the promise that this will happen. Hello! Glenn??

      • http://godzilla8662@yahoo.com Mike Sidman

Texas has always led the way in “Flipping the Bird” to that cesspool on the Potomac. As California goes, so DOES NOT go the ENTIRE NATION…States like AZ,ID, MT, ND, NM, NV, SD, UT, and WY tend to go as TEXAS goes… Secession II, anybody?

      • Cathy

I’ve seriously considered moving to Texas. (from Nevada)

      • George E

I’ve been a Texan since 1957. I don’t care for the weather too much, but I do like the industriousness and independence of the people and culture, and the politics (colorful and conservative). We’ve considered retiring other places, but have a hard time pulling away for reasons cited. Overall, we think Texas is a great place to live.

      • JC

        I’m in!

      • Mel

Glenn, as in Beck? That explains so much. you really should get your info from real news journalists.

      • Jana

        Racist!

      • usmadgirl

        Mel,

If you actually WATCHED Glenn (yes, as in Beck), you might have a clue what’s going on in this country since he’s the ONLY one who explains it & backs it with FACTS (as I’ve said before) RIGHT FROM THE DONKEY’S MOUTHS! You can’t get anymore factual than that! They obviously don’t even care NOW that the American people know who they are & what they are! They think we’re all so stupid that we won’t notice or understand their agenda, but SURPRISE!

If YOU can’t see or hear it or figure it out, then you’re evidently blind, deaf or not as “brilliant” as you think you are!

      • Jana

        usmadgirl,
How right you are. Thank you.

      • usmadgirl

        Jana,

Thanks! I’m very rarely down or in a bad mood. I’m just not a moody person, but I’m really getting tired of the progressive lies & their agenda. They say what they please, but if WE do, we’re racist, wacky nut-jobs! So, I had a 15 minute meltdown yesterday from circumstances beyond my control & I decided I’d just “let her rip”! We’re beating “dead donkeys” on this site!

I just got an e-mail from a friend. It’s a “Divorce Agreement”. I’ll just copy & paste it for all to see. Sounds like a winner to me!

        DIVORCE AGREEMENT

THIS IS SO INCREDIBLY WELL PUT THAT I CAN HARDLY BELIEVE IT’S BY A YOUNG PERSON, A STUDENT!!! WHATEVER HE RUNS FOR, I’LL VOTE FOR HIM.

American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists,Marxists, Obama supporters, et al:

We have stuck together since the late 1950′s, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has run its course.

Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what is right so let’s just end it on friendly terms. We can smile and chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and go our own way.

Here is a model separation agreement:

Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that, it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes.

We don’t like redistributive taxes so you can keep them. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU. Since you hate guns and war, we’ll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA and the military. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore and Rosie O’Donnell (You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all three of them).

We’ll keep the capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart and Wall Street. You can have your beloved homeless, homeboys, hippies and illegal aliens. We’ll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO’s and rednecks. We’ll keep the Bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood ..

You can make nice with Iran and Palestine and we’ll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us.. You can have the peaceniks and war protesters. When our allies or our way of life are under assault, we’ll help provide them security.

We’ll keep our Judeo-Christian values.. You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism and Shirley McClain. You can also have the U.N.. but we will no longer be paying the bill. We’ll keep the SUVs, pickup trucks and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Subaru station wagon you can find.

You can give everyone healthcare if you can find any practicing doctors. We’ll continue to believe healthcare is a luxury and not a right. We’ll keep The Battle Hymn of the Republic and the National Anthem. I’m sure you’ll be happy to substitute Imagine, I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing, Kum Ba Ya or We Are the World.

We’ll practice trickle down economics and you can give trickle up poverty your best shot. Since it often so offends you, we’ll keep our history, our name and our flag.

Would you agree to this? If so, please pass it along to other like minded liberal and conservative patriots and if you do not agree, just hit delete. In the spirit of friendly parting, I’ll bet you Answer which one of us will need whose help in 15 years.

        Sincerely,
        John J. Wall
        Law Student and an American

P.S. Also, please take Ted Turner, Sean Penn, Martin Sheen, Barbara Streisand, & Jane Fonda with you.

        P. S. S. And we won’t have to press 1 for English.

      • JC

I say we give them California…that’s it!
Then we build a wall. ;)

      • http://BobLIvingston Virginia

You actually watch Glenn Beck??? No wonder you’re confused.

      • Mel

Yes, unlike some close-minded amoung us, I have watched Beck…and O’Reily et. al. It’s pretty amazing to me how Fox can be the only one to report things in the manner they do, filled with right wing retoric and all the rest of the news outlets on the hundreds of stations out there report the news. Is that because Fox has a corner on the facts? Not likely, and if you believe that then, yes, you are stupid. Glenn Beck is a phoney, he’s a satirist (by his own description whenever called out on journalistic errors)and not a very good one at that. If you thing that any of the commentators on Fox are 100% for the average citizen, then you are sadly deluded….they are all about their own bank accounts (or gold reserves). Their boss, the Autralian Rupert Murdock, is all about the corporate interests he holds and he uses his network to keep it intact.

      • STY

before you kneel again at the alter of Faux News, here’s the man in charge http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vA5z-quW2E8&feature=player_embedded#

      • Jana

Bill Moyers??? Lets see, he was Pres. Johnson’s White House Press Secretary, he is quite involved with Public Television by producing documentaries and some of those documentaries have sure been leftist and not complimentary to the United States.

He has become well known as a trenchant critic of the U.S. media. Since 1990, Moyers has been President of the Schumann Center for Media and Democracy.

Center for Media and Democracy explained.
Established in 1983, the Center for Media and Democracy (CMD) aims to “strengthe[n] participatory democracy by investigating and exposing public relations spin and propaganda” — focusing largely on what it views as the transgressions of political conservatives. Another CMD objective is to assist liberal and leftist “grassroots citizen activism that promotes public health, economic justice, ecological sustainability and human rights.” Toward these ends, CMD produces articles and blog posts on the political, social, and economic issues of the day.

The key words here is focusing largely on what it views as the transgressions of political conservatives.

Yeah, right, we can certainly trust what this liberal says.

      • Jana

Bill Moyers is the one talking about Fox News in the piece that sty wants you to look at.

      • usmadgirl

        Jana,

        THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Connie funnell

I agree with anyone who disagrees with Obozo and the disrespectocrats. He will ruin this country if the populace doesn’t stop him and I’m afraid the only thing left is violence because that’s all they have given us as a choice. We have tried everything peaceable and now I’m afraid he’s forcing the hand of the American public. I think the complete American public should outright refuse to enter into the agreement for his healthcare bill, everyone should simply say NO and do nothing. Can you put the entire United States in jail for refusal to adhere to an unconstitutional measure.

      • Cathy

I totally think that’s a great idea. However, you and I both know that there are the nanny state mentalities out there that will join because they will think they’re getting something for free…

      • Jana

I think we all ought to send bo a pink slip.

      • Joe H.

        Jana,
Little lady, I’m ALL for it!!!!

    • Time

So Folks Eamil, as well write and phone your Congress and Senate people and tell them you want them to support the John Fleming bill as noted above in Mr. Woods blog. Lets see how fast they all rush to do that.
