Poll Shows Americans Consider Government To Be Broken

Poll shows Americans consider government to be broken An overwhelming majority of Americans believe that the United States government system is broken, but most also say that there is some hope for it to improve, according to a recent CNN-Opinion Research Corporation poll.

The study found that a staggering 86 percent of U.S. residents hold such negative opinion about their government, an increase from 77 percent three years ago.

However, only 5 percent of them believe the government cannot be fixed, while 81 percent still hold out hope for improvement, which is 10 percent more than in late 2006.

Keating Holland, CNN polling director, said that the increase in the number of Americans who see their government as broken is the most pronounced among higher-income individuals and those who live in rural areas.

"Maybe it’s just a coincidence, but those are the groups that make up the bulk of the Tea Party [movement] today," he suggested, quoted by the news network’s website.

According to a separate CNN-Opinion Research Corporation poll, activists in the Tea Party movement—which was created last year in response to the massive stimulus package passed by Congress and signed by President Obama—tend to be male, rural, upscale and are overwhelmingly conservative.

It seems inconceivable to modern minds that just a few differences between two similar ideologies — Marxism and Nazism — could have been sufficient cause for great enmity between those two ideologies. More on Mussolini . . . This is a considerable trip back in time and one effect of that is that the political terminology of nearly 100 years ago was somewhat different from today. In reading quotations from the early days one must keep in mind that those Mussolini refers to as “Socialists” were in fact Marxists rather than social democrats and those whom Mussolini refers to as “liberals” were advocates of laissez faire and would hence be described as conservatives today. Mussolini started out as a Marxist but eventually devised Fascism as a “third way” (sound familiar?). He saw it as offering a middle way between Marxism and capitalism — Leftist but not Marxist.

In Mussolini’s own words . . . Let us listen initially to some reflections on the early days of Fascism by Mussolini himself — first published in 1935 (See the third chapter in Greene, 1968).

And that was Mussolini quoting his own words from the early Fascist days. So while Mussolini had by that time (in his 30s) come to reject the Marxist idea of a class-war, he still saw himself as anti-bourgeois and as a saviour and leader of the workers. What modern-day Leftist could not identify with that?

So he was a good union man like most Leftists today.
“When the present regime breaks down, we must be ready at once to take its place”

Again a great Leftist hope and aspiration.

The “Liberalism” he refers to here would of course be called “Neo-liberalism” today — the politics of Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan. Mussolini opposed such politics and so do Leftists today.

Modern-day Leftists too seem to seek influence outside the normal democratic channels — from strikes and demonstrations to often successful attempts to get the courts to make law.

He here also rejects the Communist emphasis on materialism. Leftism to this day is often seen as a religion and its agitators clearly often long to be seen as heroic and unmaterialistic.

The First Bailout called “TARP” started right after Soros and company started the run on the banks . . . 500 B sucked out in 3 hours . . . banks shut down. TARP followed a few days later to prop them up.
But the story gets better, when the TARP funds were paid back they were by LAW supposed to be paid back off the DEBT. Today . . . over 80% of the TARP money has been paid back by the banks . . . but the Incompetent In-Chief is using that money to finance Job Creation and Pork . . . govts don’t create real jobs . . . so it is not working . . .

Even with both wars, Bush was not increasing the deficit. in Fact in 2004 the budget was highest and then started to decrease through 2007, with 2007 being the lowest. The 2008 and 2009 budgets were voted on by a mostly Democratic congress and started increase significantly in 2008. In 2009 the Obama administration said they deficit would be $1.75 trillion while the CBO estimate is $1.85 trillion. As the estimates go through 2019 they steadily get more skewed with the Obama figures and the CBO figures with 2019 being the worst with CBO estimate of $1.2 trillion and Obama’s estimate of $800 billion.

You cannot let people make generalized off the kuff statements which are incorrect, that’s exactly what the so called “Journalists” are doing, they are not correcting the mis-statements, and lies being broadcast, so the people are not receiving correct information. Principally in that both Churchill and Hitler were anticommunist. And Hitler did to some extent romanticize the past. No real-life political party is purely anything so the fact that Hitler’s Nazism was a mixture of elements should come as no surprise. A Leftist prophet

The ideas of Benito Mussolini (1883-1945), the founder of Fascism, are remarkably similar to the ideas of modern-day Western Leftists. If Mussolini was not the direct teacher of modern-day Leftists, he was certainly a major predecessor. What Leftists advocate today is not, of course, totally identical with what Mussolini was advocating and doing 60 to 80 years ago in Italy but there are nonetheless extensive and surprising parallels. Phil and Norm . . . I first read about the “Progressives” back in the 70′s . . . when I read a book by Gary Allan, he was a Washington Journalist. The book was called “None Dare Call it a Conspiracy”. The Cdn. PM at the time Liberal Trudeau, banned the book in Canada.
It documented how Progressives financed the Russian Revolution, sending a ship full of Gold Bullion from New York to Moscow, right through WWI lines. Not only did they support the ideology, the sent their funds as well. I think Beck is a very passionate person. Just because he is not sedate does not make him wrong. I happen to think men who can’t cry end up having mental problems. Crying is a human emotion; it does not belong to one sex or the other. I believe that Glenn Beck is a patriot and that he is extremely passionate about waking up Americans that have been asleep way too long. Bush cut taxes and my federal obligation went down. Of course to offset this reduction, all state, local, property went up. Now how is increasing federal taxes going to help the middle class? Do you think we will receive a corresponding reduction at state, local and property and all the other regressive taxes heaped upon us?

All government spending must be brought under control. It can only be accomplished by reducing entitlements, getting rid of unions within government and reducing salaries and benefits within the governments. Stop the porkulis spending as well. Fiscal constraint is the order of the day.

The biggest problem that this country has is that the middle class is shrinking. Put another way, we are getting poorer. Shipping good jobs away, losing our ability to produce our own goods, high unemployment, and high taxes to cover the slave wage workers is taking its toll.
We need to limit government spending and individual spending accordingly. The great era of the 50′s thru 70′s is behind us.

Its also why the average IQ as of 2009 is 99.55, its going downward not up.
Its also why 63% of high school grade kids can’t read basic 3th grade text.
And why 22% can’t read at a level above 7th grade text.
So that equals just about 15% that can read at high school level and or basic college level.
Its also why comprehension levels have dropped to below 6th grade levels in nearly 85% of all children who graduate high school.

Its sad but true many of our Youth are being dumbed down to levels that place us in lower than third world status.

The facts are the people we have allowed to run the Government are BROKEN.
“The “basic format” is still sound, that being the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Where this has all taken a very wrong turn is with the advent of a few factors.
#1, A Poorly run education system, this is a base building block, from this well springs the future.

So, keeping to the thought process you have, all of those educated repubs/conservs are now liberals and should not be trusted. If they got degrees they must have comprised their values and ideas to get those degrees. Obviously, the repubs presently in college don’t think they are affected by the professors or they wouldn’t be getting educations from those liberal educators.
