Commander in Chief?

March 3, 2010 by

Commander in Chief?

“The United States needs a Commander in Chief not a professor of law.” –Sarah Palin.

I hate to be a stickler for presidential definitions especially after Bill Clinton said: “It depends on what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is.” But given President Obama’s woeful performance as America’s Commander in Chief, I think he needs to be educated on the meaning of war.

After all, it was Mr. Obama that said “We are at war,” earlier this year at a White House state dinner.

Yet it is clear that Mr. Obama may not understand what war really means. He is certainly not cut from the same cloth as Ike, nor does he have the fortitude of Reagan.

How do I know? Well the Obama administration openly talks with our adversaries; has terminated the F-22 air-superiority aircraft and has shown a fierce commitment to cutting America’s nuclear arsenal even as impending super-power—China—rises in the east.

A recent issue of Foreign Affairs warns that the world is becoming a more dangerous place. According to the magazine, America’s enemies see war far differently than the President does. “The United States’ overseas conflicts are limited wars only from the U.S. perspective; to adversaries, they are essential. It should not be surprising if they use every weapon at their disposal to stave off total defeat.”

All the while our President is muddling through the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. In his State of the Union Address Mr. Obama barely made a mention of the Afghan conflict which will involve 100,000 U.S. troops in a war that has persisted for eight years.

Worst of all, the President is undermining morale in our military by putting the enemy on trial and allowing gays to serve openly in the military.

The President and his advisers have become adamant in trying Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four fellow Guantanamo Bay detainees in New York.

With resistance building over plans to try the accused Sept. 11 mastermind in a civilian court in New York, White House officials are lobbying lawmakers to secure funding.

Thankfully there is opposition. A bipartisan group in Congress is pushing to cut off funding to prosecute Mohammed and other 9-11 co-conspirators in civilian courts.

It is hard to believe if Mr. Obama understands the nature of war when the enemy is afforded a trial and the rights provided within the Constitution of the very nation they are trying to destroy. Imagine if President Truman had put Tojo on trial in Honolulu for planning the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Andrew C. McCarthy believes it is ridiculous to try an enemy and thus provide them with the comforts and rights therein.

“A war is a war,” declared McCarthy. “A war is not a crime, and you don’t bring your enemies to a courthouse.”

McCarthy knows a thing or two about trying terrorists. Fifteen years ago he was front and center in the nation’s biggest terrorism trial as the chief prosecutor against a group led by a blind Egyptian sheik that plotted to blow-up the United Nations, as well as the Lincoln and Holland Tunnels.

The Trouble With Gays in the Military
Recently, President Obama renewed his commitment to allow gays to openly serve in the U.S. military. As a result, Senator Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) has emerged as the Senate champion for trying to scrap limits on gay and lesbian service in the military.

Last week Lieberman announced that he would introduce a bill to repeal the ‘Don’t-Ask-Don’t-Tell’ policy that became law in 1993.

Lieberman said: “To exclude one group of Americans from serving in the armed forces is contrary to our fundamental principles as outlined in the Declaration of Independence, and weakens our defenses…”

Not so fast Joe. There are good reasons for keeping gays out of the military, the least of which isn’t combat effectiveness.

A decade ago one of my best friends, a Gulf War veteran and now a major in the National Guard explained it to me when I questioned him on the subject.

“Keeping gays out of combat has nothing to do with sex,” said my friend who served as an U.S. Army infantry captain in Operation Desert Storm. “It has to do with love.”

He explained that leading men, whether it be a squad, a platoon or a company, meant making tough decisions; decisions that put the men under one’s command in grave danger. Such orders are not easily given under the best of circumstances but are undertaken with the knowledge that what is tantamount is the success of a mission.

My friend—who by the way is a true-blue Democrat—went on to explain that he thought gays in the military would lead to relationships in the field; the kind of relationships that would endanger a mission and compromise the lives of men undertaking them.

To underscore his point my friend the Major asked: “Would you order the love of your life into a dangerous undertaking, even if you knew they were the best person for the job?”

As the 2008 Republican Party Platform correctly stated: "Military priorities and mission must determine personnel policies. Esprit and cohesion are necessary for military effectiveness and success on the battlefield.”

For Mr. Obama not to understand this combat necessity puts into question whether he has a fundamental understanding of the nature of war; enough to be our Commander in Chief.

I am not saying that one must have combat experience to be President. What I am saying is that a good President puts the nation ahead of what he thinks is good politics or what is politically correct.

John Stuart Mill was a 19th Century philosopher, economist and academic. Yet he understood the nature of war.

“War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things,” said Mill. “The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.”

Other words about war that Mr. Obama might want to heed come from the former First Lady Barbara Bush: “War is not nice.”

Neither is it nice sitting back and watching the decline of the U.S. through weak leadership. This is especially true when it not only makes America more vulnerable to our enemies, but also accelerates our economic decline.

You may be asking, “What does any of this have to do with my financial future?” I am glad you inquired.

The U.S. dollar has been the reserve currency of the world for more than half a century. It gained this status not only because of the financial vitality of America but because the U.S. was the ultimate protector against tyranny.

But today America’s precarious economic situation, as well as the serious lack of leadership from its highest office, will only serve to weaken an already crumbling currency.

Action to take: Continue to accumulate hard assets, most important of which is physical gold, silver and platinum.

Yours for real wealth and good health,

  • hey

    Phil, go smoke some more.

  • sheldon leibow

It is unfortunate that Obama, one whom we elected because he showed so much promise, has failed to perform properly. I think of our Treasury Secretary accused of failure to pay taxes and now Rep. Rangel sim, ilarly accused. Sadly it suggests that tax evasion is the key to success and prestigious government appointments.

    • Les

Liberals never met a tax they did not like, however the Obama administration has more known tax cheats than all other administrations combined.

      • Jana

As well as at least one Communist adviser, many Socialists advisers and he himself is not only woefully inadequate, he greatly leans toward the Islamic faith that is against the United States.

  • Phil

This artical started off with a quote from Sarah Palin saying President Obama wasn’t fit to be commander and Chief?…. And she doest have the IQ of a carrott… Which makes her a perfect leader for you rightys…you’d put our country in her hands and have the nerve to critisize president Obama? .. Too funny…

    • Don Tremaine

      Phil,
Sarah has more sense about America than any democrat. Obama is not just a socialist but an extreme left wing crazy socialist. He will destroy America and what it stands for if he is not stopped soon. Obama is an elitist. IQ has nothing to do with common sense. It has nothing to do with who is better equipped to be the President and Commander in Chief of the Military. I know nothing about Obama except that I am polar opposite on every position he takes. Sarah on the other hand knows what it means to be an American. America is about individual freedom and individual responsibility. Obama is about the government will take care of everybody by punitive taxation of the working class and above. Capitalism is the unequal distribution of wealth; so go get your piece of it. All it takes is hard work and sacrifice. Socialism is the equal distribution of misery, so sit back and collect from the government. There will be Obama and his elite class, the working, taxed class, and the welfare class. The welfare will become the largest. As more and more Americans find that they will be better off collecting welfare than working. This will continue until there are no more tax payers. That is the reason it is imperative to stick to the constitution which prohibits socialism by the federal government. Just in case you have any doubts, the tenth amendment forbids the federal government to venture into territories that are not specifically allowed. But then progressives think the constitution is an embarrassment to their agenda.

      • Odie

        Phil,
Perhaps you should read Cloward and Piven’s strategy of overwhelming the SYSTEM with social programs and entitlements and then look at what is happening today. Obama and the liberal congress are doing nothing more than trying to collapse the American financial system by increasing taxes to pay for programs. THEN his real agenda will be revealed: the transformation of the American way of life, i.e. SOCIALISM. He is doing exactly what he said he would do during his campaign, only some people didn’t really “listen”, they saw only a stuffed suit that could deliver a good speech via teleprompter.

If America is such a bad place to live why do others die trying to get here, to escape the way of life Obama is trying ram down our throats? And if you hate this country so much why don’t you move to a country that is structured the way you want to live and leave America the way she was. We Americans kinda liked her that way. Our Ancestors certainly did; they died to make us free, free from the Socialism and Communism sweeping the world during most of the last century.

      • Dorothy

Odie – I dislike your statement that “we Americans kinda like America
the way she is”. Don’t include me in that “we” – nor the majority of
us who write to and listen to everyone on this site. The current
“ruler” has one goal – to bring America to her knees, and if he succeeds, we may never be able to get her up again! I suggest you pack your bags, pick up Mr. AND Mrs. Bummer and YOU leave our country!

      • Jana

Dorothy, Odie didn’t say he likes “her the way she is”. He said we liked her the way she was. There is a big difference. I think you were both saying the same thing.

I do agree, we did like her the way she was, not the way this Muslim man who some call their Pres. is trying to change her.
He is NOT Pres. of all the people, only the radical leftists/Socialists/ Communist wannabe’s.

      • Odie

        Dorothy,

Whoa, whoa! Stop a minute, ok – I cannot stand the poser in the white house and can’t wait for the second he leaves office, however he leaves; under his own power or otherwise. When I said I like America the way she is, I was referring to BEFORE OBUMMER took office, BEFORE any changes can go any farther toward ruining this country. If I were to pick them up it would be to take them to the airport so they can go live with their buddy Hugo Chavez, or Fidel Castro. I LOVE THIS COUNTRY and will stand next to anyone of you who would fight to stop his agenda.

      • Odie

        Jana,

Thank you! Sometimes I don’t make myself clear; I have a traumatic brain injury and don’t always fully express my meaning. Thanks again!

P.S. even though I could get FREE HEALTCARE for my injury I choose my private insurance for the quality of care I get. This government healthcare idea scares the heck out of me…

      • Jana

Odie, actually I think you express yourself quite well. Dorothy just didn’t comprehend what she was reading. However, I think we have all done that on occasion.

      • sally

this Sarah haters are anti-God hater they hid behind the lie that Sarah is dumb

      • momof4

Sally, your right she is not dumb, and that is why they are so afraid of her.

      • MJ Montana

There is no question that regardless of color, Obama is of the elite ruling class.

    • DaveH

      Pill,
Do you think all your rabid personal attacks leave you with any credibility at all? People rarely are swayed in their beliefs by Zealots engaging in personal attacks. If anything they would cling even more stubbornly to their belief systems.
If you really want to influence people, you need to behave a lot less like a Grammar school child and a lot more like an adult.

      • Odie

        Dave,
        SCORE!

    • Cathy

Phil…thanks so much for supplying me with more spelling errors to add to my list of incredibly misspelled words. Palin doest have the IQ of a carrott?

    • JeffH

Phil, I’ll correct you, he’s your president, not mine! Us “righties” couldn’t even begin to rival your phycotic comments. Can you define hate one more time? You liberals sure do use it a lot!

    • Peggy

“This artical started off with a quote from Sarah Palin saying President Obama wasn’t fit to be commander and Chief?…. And she doest have the IQ of a carrott… Which makes her a perfect leader for you rightys…you’d put our country in her hands and have the nerve to critisize president Obama? .. Too funny…”
      ………………………………………………………………

you wanna hear something even funnier? Obama the harvard professor idiot, thinks there are 58 states.

He also thinks that corpsmen is pronounced corpse-man! The Commander in chief of the marine-corpse! Turns out he’s a complete idiot…hilarious and ironic!

You wanna know what this reminds me of?

Jim Jones, koolaid and all. Another demoncrat that got too powerful in the party. Except Jones left the U.S. to build his idea of utopia.

We know what happened there. Let me ask you Phil, since you’ve already drank deeply from the koolaid, how long before you choke on the poison? Is nasty piglosi not suggesting, no, expecting you to fall upon your sword?

      • Rod James

Peggy , Obama may make errors in speech but Bush Jr. was “The King of Foot In Mouth” in his speech and comments. Obama is as slick as a Used Car Salesmen in his speeches.Unfortunatley many Americans buy his
        “Clunkers”.
He and Bush just sell the public what the superiors want him too.

      • http://aol Devil Dog

Rod, get a life and don’t even THINK ABOT COPARING THE idiot in chief TO A real MAN AND COMMANDER AS GW. CASE CLOSED.

    • J C

WoW! you really are locked up in the whole left / right thing aren’t you? How small minded. How very small minded and well trained.
The whole system is corrupt but people like you on the left and a measurable amount on the right are all busy squabbling about left vs. right while we’re being robbed blind by both.
It’s like watching two bald men fighting over a comb. Sad.

      • Jana

JC, I love the two bald men fighting over a comb. That fits exactly.

    • budd hamster

      ‘Phil’

I beg to differ with you, In no way will it be ‘Too funny..” I would honestly say that I will be very scared up to my eyebrow.. if this country will be govern by “Sarah Palin”. God help america!

Don’t you rightwing repubs know that she is dumber than GWB. This is not my contention. I found it in the internet.

Follow this link. This are the results of a search using google on (“Sarah Palin” -book -sex video joke) using these key words. google found 670,000 hits.

      http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&rlz=1R2IRFA_enCA357&q=%22sarah+palin%22+-book+-sex+video+jokes&btnG=Search&meta=&aq=f&oq=

These video footage is growing every day in the internet about “Sarah Palin” is undeniably very papular, but not for the right reason, the posters are not kind to her. If these videos are not true, “Sarah Palin” would have been a billionaire by now just by collecting the courts award for character defamation or libel from these posters.

See for your self, if you have time to view the videos. Make your owm conclusion. I swear to God that I did not dream this up.

Thank you for your post, budd hamster.

  • Niner

Wow! You righties have sunk to an all time low in this article! Quoting Sarah Palin in the same context with President Obama just shows how juvenille and shallow you people really are! Your party has actually fallen into the gutter, whether we talk science, where 94% of scienctist are democrats, where law professors are ridiculed for actually being smart people, or education where your party does not want to fund it, or healthcare where your party lies about every part of it like it is a disease to have good healthcare in America, to the stupidity of a Sarah Palin guiding your small minds to write articles like this one! Amazing idiot show we have going on here! President Obama has done a much better job than Bush ever did, and he actually found the right country to be engaging in this war on terrorism! This war should be being fought by our CIA and not our whole military because of the costs we are encouring! We are now spending some 54% of our GDP for the military industrial comples that President Eisenhouer, a true statesman and true conservative, not a nutwing like the republican party has become today, told us to watch out for! We cannot even get a good healthcare bill passed, but we can spend about $1 trillion per year on the military! WOW! What a country! To criticize President Obama on his Commander in Chief and leading this nation is senseless, baseless and pure hypocrisy by a lost demoralized party!

    • Raggs

A good healthcare bill does not include the government takeover of the private sector! And forceably strongarming the private citizens!
A good healthcare bill does not throw my money to special interest groups and unions! A good healthcare bill does not raise my taxes to fund insurance for the deadbeats and illegal aliens! A good healthcare bill does not fund abortions at my expence! A good healthcare bill does not grow / expand the governments intrusion on my personal rigths and liberty! .

A bad plan is what we have above under your beloved obama

      • budd hamster

        ‘Raggs’

Your post list some issue regarding the BHO health care reform.

        1. no government take over of the private sector.

        2. no forceably strongarming the private citizens.

        3. not throw money to special interest groups and unions

        4. not raise taxes to fund indurenace for deadbeats and illegal aliens.

        5. not fund abortions.

        6. not grow or expand government intrusions on personal rights and liberty.

This is what BHO is trying to sell the country and you don’t want it.

Congratulations ‘Raggs’ You pretty well cover all the bases. if your preferences are to be respected, you want to just leave it alone. Am I correct to say you would rather keep the status quo.

I would appreciate your input on this issue if you have anything to add or remove. . Thank you for your post.

        budd hamster.

      • Tweety

Good point made. I think you are right on.

    • Don Tremaine

      Niner,
The bad part was mentioning Obama in the same sentence with Sarah. I did not vote for this socialist. I will never vote for a socialist. I have worked hard all of my life, I want to keep what I worked for not have the government tax me to death and make choices for me. America is about “individual freedom” so “the greater good” has no place in America

    • J C

You’re right niner…we should be quoting Obama along side Marx, Stalin and Hitler. He’s the “lite” version of all three and has no business walking around America, let alone leading it.

  • aman

First of all, it is pretty certain that Barry Sartoro aka Barack Huessain Obama is indeed a Muslim and his occupation of the Whitehouse is a TERRORIST STRIKE! against the United States of America. It is pretty much a done deal that he was not born in the US nor is he even a natural born citizen at that. Therefore, there is a Constitutional Crisis occuring even as we speak. The poster above my post called MAX pretty much has it right except that he forgot somethings. The plan for a new world order and yhe need to abolish the Islamic system of banking which is very different from the Western system. As it appears right now the US economy is far beyond any timely recovery. A 13 trillion dollar federal deficiet and trillions more with commerical and personal debt.Throw into this mess the damage done to the United States going back to George Bush I. Then, Clinton really sold the country out probably more then any other President so far by giving all our industry to China and India. Then GB the II continued the sell out campaign by huge spending bills and the continuation of war…Just think Haliburton and Oil and that pretty much sums it all up. Now the terrorist strike of the one who calls himself OBAMA! People of America who love freedom…and your rightful chance at Life, Liberty and the Persuit to happiness, you know what needs to be done!

  • Phil

Bush didn’t seem to shy away from borrowing trillions from China… To finance is personal war in Iraq… I suppose that was ok with you rightys…” you rightys wouldn’t know a socialist if one bit you on the butt.I know Obama has the largest goverment ever… He stepped into the largest mess left by the republicans in my lifetime …

    • Don Tremaine

      Phil,
What can I say, you are too far to the left to have anything but a left biased view point!

    • JeffH

      ahhhh…but we know a Marxist!

    • Doug

Don’t you know by now Phil is Michelle Obama acting like the man in the family, opps that right she is the man in the family with largest pants to put on!

      • http://wwwNRA.com Stephaan

Ha ha ha ha ha ha… Too funny Doug…. so it’s her big ass pants that qualifies madam michelle to be the boss? I thought it was her big ass anti-American mouth that qualified her ;-)

  • Phil

Obamas a much better commander and chief than any of the rightwingers you rightys follow…

    • Bruce Mattson

Phil, have you ever served a real Commander in Chief or ever risked your life for your country……..I have

    • JeffH

Hey phil, try commander of confusion and indecision. This is his mantra, his purpose as the commander of thieves, his bosses want it this way, destroy a free America at any cost. He’s their puppet and your anti-American hero.

  • Karl

As A non American from Norway, I would consider Obama the most non- American President you have ever had. He has no skills in being Commander in Chief and he and his lefties are attempting to lead USA down the socialist path. Look at Europe through socialism, it is going to ruin fast and the European Union is the largest unelected so called parliament in the world. America, get these progressive people out of power at the earliest.

    • http://wwwNRA.com Stephaan

Welcome to the blog Karl. It’s nice to get unbiased input from across the pond. I, and most here, agree with you, that osama is the worst prez. since Clinton. We hope to rid Congress of as many liberal socialists as we can in November of this year, and again in 2012.
As far as Osama Nobama, about the only avenue we have at the moment is his LACK of a bonafide U.S. birth certificate, and there are either 2 or 3 court cases still pending on that issue.

      • momof4

        Stephaan,
Obama makes Clinton look like a good president, how scary is that.

      • http://wwwNRA.com Stephaan

        Momof4;
It’s a tough call. I have never liked Clinton ever since he threw Paula Jones under the bus. That just showed me he had absolutely NO HONOR, CHARACTER, INTEGRITY, or LOYALTY! What a freaking mutt he is.
As far as rating them on the damage done, or will be done to this country, I think O’liar will surpass Clintons 8 years in just 4. If O’liar get 8, I think he will double the damage easily. I have been trying to think of someone who would be worse than those two, and I can’t think of anyone who would be worse, except maybe James Carvelle.
Rating them all as liars, Clinton hid his lying the best, whereas Oliar and Carvelle are so ignorant, and arrogant, they just don’t care to hide their lies. They are just “out there” for everyone to see.

      ‘Karl’

Do you think that your experience was worse under the European Union than before?

Please explain as much as you can. Wasn’t the European Union created to help all member nations to improve the economy, defense, health care, education, living conditions, ect.

Your response will be duly appreciated.

Thank you for your post. budd hamster

  • Raggs

Does anyone know what the extent of the small pox vacination was prior to 1965 ? I remember getting one when I was 5 years old here in the US.
Also what countries were involved in this other than the US and thier extent of vacination?

    • Raggs

      Nobody can answer this question?
Some countries didn’t use a needle to inject the vacine.
I have a scar on my arm as with all americans during the vacination prior to 1965….

      • Harold Olsen

Not everyone. As a kid, growing up in the 50′s and 60′s, I received a lot of vaccinations, but, for some reasons, I don’t have any scars on my arms.

      • Odie

I don’t have a scar either. I was given some of my vacinations as drops on a sugar cube…

  • M.McCarthy

I do not believe the Pres. doesn’t know what is going on…but I do not understand why ….those in the know won’t say…the truth….
Obama has one thought in mind ….DESTROY THE UNITED STATES AS FAST AS POSSIBLE… before he gets out of office and hopefully that will be 2012…He is not qalified to sit in the Oval Office ( especially with his feet ( shoes on ) up on that beautiful desk given to the US by Queen Victoria…He is a socialist and is determined to do his dirty work before he is voted out…and GOD willing he will be…but of course we have to watch out for the fraud from the SEIU and ACORN.
He entered the office with his Marxist friends and Czars determined to destroy us..and he is working hard at it…That is why he keeps spending OUR money like it was water..and doesn’t listen to anyone abut that.except his Marxist friends….He appoints Socialists and Commies in top positions and makes sure they do not have to be approved by the Congress…..He has the Democrats running scared…so they vote yes everything that comes down the pike….He has taken over the auto industry….the banks…trying to destroy the health ins…co…He knows we have the best health care in the world and he is out to destroy that too..Well….the Democrats will pay come Nov…and HE KNOWS THAT TOO….but he doesn’t care..he and his cronies are hell bent on destroying the greatest country ever…Well…Obama…we are AMERICANS and it will take more than you and your cronies to destroy us…..

    • Phil

who leads you rightys?… What is your economic agenda? What would you do diffrent than George W. Bush did?….. What would you do diffrent in Afghanistan?… Your policy of Obama is a socialist isn’t policy…. The fact is you’re just a bunch of rightwing KKK goverment hateing nutcases… Most the rightwingers on this site are no diffrent than Timothy McVeigh Racist types…and of course youre also oddballs..

      • Cribster

Why are you so hateful? It sounds like you’re on the verge of violence.

      • Harold Olsen

Phil is just giving a demonstration of liberal tolerance, that’s all. You know, compassion. The trouble his he spells both words H-A-T-E. And like most liberals, he has a right to his opinion but doesn’t believe that someone with a differing view has a right to their opinion.

      • Odie

        Harold,

Amen to that. Why is it the Libs can have their Freedom of Speach, but a Conservative can’t have or express a different opinion without being labeled a nutjob? I have many bumper stickers on my truck, most of which are against the current administration, and where ever I go I get harassed, flipped-off, cut-off on the highway…all because of my OPINION. When you liberals were attacking George Bush did you express your opinion? Did you respect the position (not the man) he held, or did you call him names and demand his impeachment?
As far I know the 1st Amendment is still the law of the land, for now any way, and as such I and others like me will continue to express our opinion’s. So Democrats and Liberals take a look around you. Do you see anything different? Do you see what the Government is taking away from you? What is being taken over: the auto industry, the banks, maybe healtcare, maybe the food supply? Think! Do you realize that in the past year nearly 70% of American business has been taken over by the government? Stop being spoon fed by the media and read, do your own research! Your country and your way of life is being taken from you!

To all you Vets out there: THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE! I was not fortunate enough to serve due to a broken back but you are ALL my HERO’S!! GOD BLESS YOU!

The right wing Republicans gave up a carry over of deflicit spending,
The nazi act and an 8 yr old on a terrorist watch list. The patriot
act was Nazi law signed by Bushwacker. Now Obama has to clean up his
mess. Its the Republican controlled congress between 2000 and 2006 that shipped jobs overseas ran up the deficit. The democrats wanted privacy protection in the extension of the Nazi Act. the Nazi right wingers blocked it.

So Nazi Republicans you better be looking over your shoulder —-we will give you a war you won’t forget. A good Nazi Republican is dead

The Congress has not declared war against Afganistan. The Congress did not declare war against Iraq. Current invasions and military occupations of both countries is a violation of international law and the U.S. Constitution. Iraq was invaded to terminate the previous Iraq Constitution which stated, “the oil of Iraq belongs to the people of Iraq.” Gonzo, so now American oil companies can go take the oil. Afganistan has been invaded so that American and Brittish oil companies can put in pipelines all across Afganistan from Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. Taliban leaders had been invited to Texas several years back, encouraged to sign an agreement with Unocal to build the pipeline. They turned down the offer. It’s their country. Hence, the oil propaganda of calling them “insurgents.” Plus, they continue to terminate the CIA’s poppy fields. Wake up, Americans. It’s not about war, it’s about imperialism, i.e., invade, control and plunder.

Phil: Your response is a typical liberal/progressive statement. If you will remember, the left denigrating our military from the beginning on a daily basis. Bush’s eventually change in command and policy started the positive changes in Iraq and Afghanistan from which Obama has only benefitted. It is again so typical of your side to believe all of this was miraculously performed by Obama in one year. You have fallen for another monitored speech.
As for the NY trial, the costs of such a debacle would be enormous not to take away from the liberal media frenzy bolstering jihad in any way they could. These zealots are terrorists who attack and kill us without a thought and should be dealt with by the military tribunal.
“Economic mess” you refer to: I remind you that for the last 2 years of Bush’s term, the Democrats ruined the economy taking the 2007 relatively balanced budget to disaster in 2009. And they continue to print money and spend it haphazardly to the point that America is becoming deeper and deeper in trouble.
I see no patriotism in your statements, fake or otherwise. I see only anger and disdain for America and unrelenting love for an empty suit.

    • Rob

      Sammys Dad
This economic mess did not come about in the last 2 years of Bush’s presidency. It brewed for decades. Ever since we started running a deficit. I can say Bill Clinton leaving us with a balanced budget and a tax surplus was a very positive step. Unfortunately that was all blown to crap. But the mess was there even before Clinton took office. It goes back to the Vietnam War, and our going off the gold standard. BOTH parties had a hand in it. BOTH parties passed BAD policies. Bush’s stated goal of increasing minority home ownership, only led to furthering loosening of lending standards, fueling this mess.

What I resent about President Bush, is that he did nothing real to correct our course, he left us worse off than when he took office.
And the Democrats are totally out of control too.

      • Stan W

The only thing we have to fear…..is Washington, itself. Why? Selfishness, rampant as a virus.

Clinton’s so-called balanced budget was on paper only. In reality, there was no such thing.

They were called “The Do Nothing Congress” by Republicans because they past the ” least ” number of bills in the past 20 years.. Google Do nothing congress….Bush had VETO power over the 2006 congress…. I’m not suprised you attempted to blame the 2006 congress and I’m also not suprised you don’t know how our political system works….. Obama was elected by a landslide… It’s called democracy…. I’m pretty confident he will be reelected because as horrible as the economy is that the republicans left him he still has approval polls ranging from 48 to 52 % , which concidering is pretty good..

  • Raggs

I bet his next move will be to remove religion from the military.

    • Harold Olsen

That’s being tried. For the last two or three years there has been a movement to disband the Chaplin Corps in all branches of the military, headed, I believe, by the ACLU. As it is, Christian Chaplin–so far, I think it’s just in the navy, but I could be wrong–can no longer pray “in the name of Jesus,” because it “offends” non-Christians. Well, why would non-Christians be attending Christian services?

  • cerebus23

well the trying non civilians captured in conflict overseas in civilian courts is just retarded for lack of a better word period. how you afford the rights of us citizens to non us citizens? its never been done in war time ever. military trials are the standard and work perfectly well.

gays serving in the military i think if anyone wants to risk their life for their country despite age, sex, sexual orientation, or religion they should be allowed. saying that if cos are going to romance their male underlings i think is a stretch. any more than male officers romancing females. relationships should be barred period in the military and if they are they should be transferred to seperate units. i think sexual orientation, affection and such in general should be kept under your hat while you serve and the don’t ask dont tell policy does that to a degree.

do we need to go around telling everyone i am hetro or homo in daily life? most probably not, all the current policy does is say if your gay do not advertise it thanks, extend it to all sexual orientations if they want hell it should not matter the military is not a dating service it is a kill people, break things, and blow things up service.

god bless anyone who wants to risk their life for their country. and if we ever are dragged into a real honest to god war would we have the luxury to be picky about who wants to serve?

i am against lifting the ban and allow people to openly express their sexual prefrences, i would see that causing discomfort for some troops and erode unit cohesion.

Second, is actually a question, I was reading the news yesterday and saw that they are trying to repeal a law in South Carolina, that as of now, says that any terrorist group in SC who plans any attacks on our country or government, must register and pay a $5.00 dollar fee. If they don’t pay, they may get fined. !!!!!???????
I think I have now heard everything. DOes anyone know why this is on the books? Why are they allowed to form these groups? WHy in God’s name are they repealing this to even save them the 5 dollars?????

        “sabre’ ”

This statute became law in 1951, during the McCarthy era, At that time it was believed that communist where trying to take over america, very much in the same style as the “witch hunt of the spanish inquisition’. Only Republicans can dream up such deprived legislation to control subversive communists.

The law was specifically aim at groups not individual, “subversive activities registration act” requires any group that advocates overthrowing local, state or federal government to register the group’s name, its leader’s address. beliefs, all members living in South Carolina together with a registration fee of $5.00.

        http://www.startribune.com/nation/85832142.html

Also the registration requires an answer of “yes” or “no” to the following, “Do you or your organization directly or indirectly advocate, advise, teach or practice the duty or necessity of controlling, seizing or overthrowing the government?”.

The real muscle in this statute is if a group or organization failed to file the registration, a fine of $25,000 and 10 years in prison will be impose if convected of non-conpliance. When enacted the statute was seen as a way to prosecute groups or organization engage in formenting insurrection or overthrowing government. Instead of proving a crime to overthrow the government was commited, the simple non-compliance to the subversive activities registration act, is sufficient to lock them up in prison for 10 years. It was an easy way to legislate the subversives communist out of existence. However this statute still exists in full form and effect, it sit quitely unused in the legislation of South Carolina.

Such was the rationale of the Repulican legislators in South Carolinas 59 years ago. Now fast forward to 2010, An African American President was elected and the democrats holds a majority in both houses in Congress. Suddenly State Senator Larry Martin realizes that this statute can be used against subversive republicans because they are “directly or indirectly advocate, advise, teach or practice the duty or necessity of controlling seizing or overthrowing the government.” The statute becomes a threat to the Republicans in south carolina. Now they are scrambling to seek to repeal the legislation.

I hope The Dems is smart enough to block the legislation from being repealed for it is a convenient means to control the “Tea Baggers and Tenthers” For more details on this issue, please surf to ‘canarypapers’.

        http://canarypapers.wordpress.com/2010/02/16/the-real-story-on-south-carolinas-subversive-activities-registration-act/

Surf to the ‘blog.tenthamendmentcenter’ and see for yourself what they are advocating. They have practically declared independence from the federation. If this is not subversion activity, I would’nt know what else to call it.

        http://blog.tenthamendmentcenter.com/2010/02/south-carolina-house-passes-sovereignty-resolution/

I would advised them to send-in the $5.00 fee and register or suffer the dire consiquences by winding up in jail for 10 years. It’s ironic that a legislation inacted 59 years ago fostered during the ‘McCarthy era’ by republicans becomes a threat to grass root (tea baggers and tenthers) movement alliance with the republicans in the state of south carolina.

        So get the facts straight.

thank you very kindly, budd hamster

    • Harold Olsen

I serve one tour of duty in Vietnam and I believe that it should be a required prerequisite to have served at least three years in the military in order to run for president. Because it isn’t, we get people like Clinton and Obama who hate the military and will do NOTHING to see that they have the proper funding and equipment in order to do their job. When I was in Nam, LBJ was in office. When we needed equipment that we couldn’t get because the liberal politicians in charge wouldn’t support us, we had to scrounge for it. In other words, we stole from other units. That should NEVER have to happen.

      • Jana

Harold, this is a very good point. I agree with this. I also am one that thinks the men and women should be separated. They are finding that women who serve in the Army and having to carry those heavy backpacks are having very bad hip pains. This is because the female is not designed to carry heavy loads (65 pounds) every day for several hours a day with no respite.

In case you don’t quite get it your stirring the pot, can you grasp that? Rather than rational thinking, aka LOGIC.

#1, Nazi’s and Marxist are on the same side, you just think they are differant. They are not. If you really understood what each one wants its the same package.
Why is that so hard for you to get your head around?

#2, If your really a true American and really feel that what this counrty was founded on is based in “FREEDOM”, how can you say you feel Government control of any thing is a good thing?
Yet you do time after time.

Can you see how these two ideas don’t mesh?

Freedom is just that, not controled.

Its obvious your on a heavy spin cycle and can’t get your feet on the ground. But perhaps if you try you may may just wake up.

Its not Democrat v Republican, why is that so hard for you to grasp?

They are both heavy with perverted agenda’s. Niether party is 100% working for the AMERICAN people, of what I have to think you are an ARERICAN, or am I wrong?

So are you a Nazi or a Marxist? Or are you an American? What is it?
Pick one, then tell us what it is; can you do that dude?

I’m not sure who’s post your responding to because I neither mentioned Marxism or Nazis … But let me respond to your post then… Nazis and Marxist are mortal enemys… Do you know anything of Hitlers quest to destroy Russia during Ww2?…Hitler always said communism was his mortal enemy…you really should be embarressed saying they are the same….In fact it was really what lost the war for Germany when they invaded Russia….you can google it.. I’m sure you won’t take my word for it..

I truly do not understand all the fuss about gays in the military (I am neither gay nor lesbian). As far as I am concerned, gays at least won’t get pregnant like all the “hetero” women soldiers ! I am from Germany, and I am sure that in the old Wehrmacht they would have treated those soldiers as deserters, because they willingly make themselves unfit for combat. I recently read that one US general intends to put those “mommies” to trial, but he is under fire for it.
And anyway – there are ALREADY gays and lesbians in the military, so why this hypocrisy with not letting them serve “openly”?

The argument in the above article that gays in the military lead to love connections, and that will cloud the leaders’ commands can be made for “love connections” between male and female soldiers as well. And there are many of that kind as all the big bellies show !

    • Don Tremaine

      Katja,
You did not read the article. The reason gays should not serve was made quite clear. I was in the U.S. Navy and proud to have the opportunity to serve. We were taught to follow orders and not to think about the outcome. If anyone thinks for even a moment the entire operation could be at risk. In the past women who served did so without being in a combat role. This was for the same reason as pointed out in the article, love. No one would send their loved one into danger. Those in command can not fraternize with the troops. This is least likely when all are hetero sexual men.

    • Rob

      Katja,
There are many who also oppose women serving in the military for these very same reasons.
I do not oppose women serving in the military, but I am a believer they must remain separate from men.

John Meyers makes a valid point. National defense is important, we cannot afford to be playing games.

      • http://Yahoo Dee D

Rob – I offer no opposition for anyone living the type of lifestyle they choose to live. I may agree or choose to disagree with them, but it’s their life and I have not got the right to try to force my lifestyle on them in any way. That is one great big cancer on our society. Someone always trying to tell everyone else how they should live. My opinion of people like this, they are nosy meddlers and really should stay out of their neighbors business and keep their own doorstep clean.

Michael Scheuer said it. Thety aren’t going to be found innocent, so it will make a mockery of the justice system, and give the wackos overseas another thing to make fun of concerning the kangaroo court.
Now, that sounded correct when he said it – but knowing the communist liberal idiots now in charge, they may have already found that their highest priority is making certain that a large amount of the terrorists they try in court are declared innocent and freed.
That of course would point to the only point they ever like making: It was Bush’s fault, it’s an illegal and unnecessary war, and GWB corralled up innocents and put then in the Gitmo gulag for torture.
Now, they’ll get all that torture testimony on record and made public, and the msm will report it as fact. Then they’ll report on the frame ups, then they’ll report the innocence, then they will apologize for Bush and Obama will bow at the released terrorists, shake their hands, kis their cheek or foreheads, and wish them well.
Then all the libs will hug ans since kumbaya in unison and unisex tone.

    • don

The evils of war, no rather, I must write on the evil of evils that that make good people have to go to war.

First, the idea of the evils of war makes one think that all wars are evil. Sure, war is not a good thing, but it is not the worst thing. It is usually engaged by a freedom loving people when it necessary. Regarding the evils of evils, I can think of the evils of war when Hitler invaded Poland and Russia and not to mention the holocaust. The evils of war are shown in the pleasure of the Al Qaeda in their snares that they lay and the purposeful torture and destruction of their own people. But these are not really evils of war, they are evils of evil!

Somehow I get the sense that having to write this is that some say that all wars are unjust. Well, perhaps so in the sense that one side is unjust. The side that promotes genocide, torture, and inhumanity to man. If all negotiations fail to remove those kinds of incendiaries then a just war is necessary and it is not evil.

For some in this country our military is hated. They are referred to as ‘baby killers’ and other terms that I won’t mention. These ‘do-gooders’ have no idea what it means to do something for someone else. They just think that ‘others’ owe them and that the service to their country in a fashion other than some high paying government job is beneath their dignity. However, in reality these folks have no dignity or self-respect, but of course they look at dignity as a form of nobility. I can only recall what George Washington said; “It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a Free Government owes not only a portion of his property, but even his personal services, to the defense of it.”

The evils of war are when our media just wants to sell articles criticizing our military rather than praising the positive things that our armed services do. It is a shame that stories of heroism are being ignored and that a generation of young people are growing up not knowing that ordinary young folks like themselves can rise up to heights of bravery. The media just doesn’t get it. That “factory” is too busy trying to manufacture the news rather than just reporting it and not letting me and the American people make our own mind up about it. As it stands now, the media, I am not buying it. The military services are doing something right, what causes a young man and/or woman to reenlist? Of course the media will not report this.

OBAMA fits the definition of “A WAR PRESIDENT”, and I don’t feel safe when Obama is our military commander-in-chief.

We know Obamas has more wars on his hands in Iraq and Afghanistan, and Obama is relying on the media and the people who put him in office to sell us another war.

A skillful and talented leader will not take us to war like President Ronald Reagan. Obama does not skills or knowlege to dealt with foreign issues when it arrives. We have more problems everywhere since he took office and it’s getting worse.

I beg to differ on your allegations. This two wars BHO is having now is directly inherited from GWB. And that BHO is trying to take America to another war. This is simply not true.

You are deliverately distorting history manufacturing falsehood.

Every ordinary person know what is true and false. Do you really expect them to believe your mindless rant? These people are not that easy to fool. I am afraid they are smarter than you assumed.

If you want to make a statement, please make sure your statement can not be challenge as a lie. Freedom of speech does not mean that one can say whatever he pleases without accountable consequencies, others may exercise their freedom of speech as well to challenge your false contensions. You will become a laughing stock and embarassment to your peers.

        buddhamaster. Thank you very kindly.

        Article: ***”OBAAMA’S WAR”***
        http://www.democracynow.org/features/obamas_war

While Barack Obama campaigned for the presidency on an anti-war platform on Iraq, his administration has called for a major escalation of military operations in Afghanistan. This includes a troop surge as well as increased drone attacks over the border in Pakistan. While civilian deaths and displacement are rising, public support for the policy in many NATO countries is eroding. Democracy Now! speaks with grassroots activists, scholars, and journalists on the new administration’s developing policies in Afghanistan and Pakistan as well as the realities on the ground.

      • FYI

Cost of Afghan war explodes with new strategy

        http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2009-12-02-war-costs_N.htm

“Going into the 2010 fiscal year, which began Oct. 1, more than $900 billion had been budgeted for military and diplomatic operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and other regions in the war on terrorism. Even before Obama’s latest plan, the administration had requested about $140 billion for fiscal 2010, which would bring the total above $1 trillion….

Some lawmakers are demanding the new troops be paid for. Rep. David Obey, D-Wis., chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, has suggested adding a progressive tax starting at 1% on Americans who earn more than $30,000 a year. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., Obama’s election rival, wants a freeze on most other spending. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., wants to take the money from the $787 billion stimulus package passed in February.”

        Don,
        Very well said.

      • Jana

Don, I agree with you and thank you for a very well written post.

      • SiliconDoc

Yes, it’s more negative propaganda, and near zero positives. Last night a friend checked CNN’s front page for the missing war ( since Obama time we don’t have a daily barrage and body count that starts and ends every single newscast like we did under Bush – of course the massive bias is beyond astounding), and we found it was still missing – and way down the pages in the lower right was a “major issues” style list and Afghanistan was #9 of 10. LOL
Further up to the left under a small picture was something akin to: “US soldiers suffer concussions”. I didn’t read it, but got the point – the soldiers have debilitating PTSD, are raging terrorist wackos ready to blow upon return, and now also have ” concussions ” that have gone undetected – oh that could set ‘em off… “the poor deranged, debilitated, brain damaged, concussed, insane, terroristic US soldier” — yes I got the picture clearly enough.
So I went to FoxNews and the 1st story on the top left biggest pic was something like: “US Soldiers victoriously help route Taliban cave complex” – the story praised the work….

Yes, so it is clear to me what the vast majority of MSM news does (we’ve checked all of the biggies *abc nbc cbs, etc* before several times) – I was grateful Fox didn’t forget a success.
What we’re given is a negative indoctrination of the USA, our military, our history, nearly everything – then we’re told the communist lefties can fix it all – that is exactly how it works- has my entire life.

      • http://aol Devil Dog

Doc, you mean to tell me you just GOT the idea that FOX NEWS IS THE ONLY TV MEDIA THAT IS FAIR AND BALANCED? GOD bless you. At least we have someone with BRAINS on this subject.

      • http://Yahoo Dee D

Hey Devil – Get up off your brain and let it have a breath of fresh air.

      • JC

Doc, you are something of an enigma. You recognize the leftist campaign to defame our veterans and pigeon hole them as possible terrorists…
But at the same time you advocate socialist health care.
Does it not occur to you that the same people who want to defame our vets and diminish their anger towards our own goverment are doing so to maintain control and silence dissent…and are like wise going after our ability to make personal health care choices…to garner greater control of the American people?

Perhaps an odd question but I could cross reference situations of government control all day and the picture i get keeps coming up as the same picture. Silence dissent, keep “We The People” ignorant and under control.

I’m sick of it and we all should be.

      • Rod James

Don & John Meyers, It’s my opinion that war is the ultimate failure of man as a human being. With that said we have to deal with the human animal that is mankind today untill a few more million years of evolution brings us to enlightenment. John can complain about the Pres. and the war dragging on but you people just don’t get it as the point IS to drag it out. War is big buisness why do you think there has been a 100 years of it. You can wrap yourself in a flag and spout democracy but the soldiers (who really are the bravest of the brave and fighting for their ideals) are just cannon fodder to make the military industrial complex richer. We are all being used by evil elements that use people to SWAT HORNETS NESTS and stand back and yell for the volunteers to get stung. At this point these political ,tribal, religious and cultural differences(also manipulated many times in history)have turned this conflict into a RELIGIOU WAR with the Arab world wanting the death of all Christians.
This site has had many articles about just how far America has fallen with respect to personal freedoms and loss of democratic process so maybe we should be concentrating our focus and energies on The Good Old USA and let our camel riding brothers work their problems out for themselves. We can’t afford the lives or the cost anymore!!!

      • http://aol Devil Dog

Hey Rod, wake up and listen to someone that has been there, and now have the scars to prove it.Yes it would be nice to hide in our shells and believe 9/11 never happened, but IT DID.So now we should bow to these anmals, that would cut your head off, rather than listen to you say,’please be nice, and don’t do anything wrong’ and all of us will go happily to our grave. Wake up, pacifist, and realize that these clowns are trying to kill us, which means we have to come to this country’s defense and not live in a shell. I did my part in Korea, so it’s about time you all do SOMETHING, and NEVER apoligize for our country like the idiot you all voted for in the white house.

      • Jana

        Devil Dog,
        Great Reply.

      • J C

I don’t believe Rod’s post was of a “Pacifist Nature”, Devil Dog.
I think he was merely pointing out a couple of obvious facts. Yes the war is big business and yes it’s meant to be dragged out. While I appreciate (very much) your service to the nation I do not believe we have a just position to be in Iraq. This is not to say that I don’t believe we are at war with Islam, we are. Rather than have our best and bravest thousands of miles away in a rat hole desert nobody wants anyway, why aren’t we defending our own borders and kicking whatever Islamic radicals we can find right out of the country? Personally I admire the approach taken by Israel and Switzerland, the whole country is armed to the teeth and defending it’s own borders.
The “war” in Iraq seems more like an “occupation” and I don’t think we can win an occupation.
        That isn’t pacifism…it’s sensible.

So Devil Dog, while I am grateful for your service, I don’t want to see your life literally thrown away so someone over at Halliburton can get a million dollar executive bonus. I’d rather our best and bravest were ensuring the safety of America “over here”.

      • Rod James

Devil Dog, Ya your right I should give up grab a gun and start killing innocent men women and children like the drones. The US has enough power to melt the world down and if a lot of people don’t start getting more peacefull thats what you will see. These people are defending their homeland just like you would do if they landed in helicopters, started telling women to wear burqas, blowing up churches, dropping bombs on wedding parties etc. We could defend the US from these terrorists even better if we brought the military home to guard the country but the real problem is US INTERESTS in the middle east. (Oil, shipping routes, stratigic positions close to China & Russia). You were being used to make the one percent even fatter and richer.

      • Jana

JC, Looks like you were wrong.

      • J C

Yep, sure does. Teach me to defend people I don’t know eh?

      • Rod James

Devil Dog,Jana. You can call me names and label me if you like, but I will never appologize for my thoughts and beliefs. You’re problem is you think you know things others don’t so you call them sheeple. It’s condescending and ignorant and you will get no cooperation from anyone with your attitude. So you aren’t helping anyone or anything, most obviously, you aren’t helping yourself.

      • Rod James

JC, Same to you!! Just because someone thinks and feels opposite from what you do does’t mean they are condecending and ignorant.Call me names if you like I’ve got thick skin and it only reflects your ignorance.

      • http://www.TheirSecrets.info Ted McMillan

Why then would people want to cause wars in order to attack WMDs that are not there? After being that wrong, why do they not blush, step down and assume that the loss of thousands of innocent lives will indeed be placed to their account by a higher authority?

Why fund these necessary wars by a willing creditor massive communist country? Why would Communist China be so willing to fund our wars for “FREEDOM?” Since when did China love freedom?

Why are all the communist countries laying low and being isolationists for so long? Could it be that their militaries are in shambles now since they adopted the former isolationist principles the American forefathers told us we must adopt, while our military is extended everywhere?

HE WHO LOVES UNNECESSARY WARS, SHOULD PASS LAWS THAT STATE THAT THOSE WHO LOVE WARS MUST ALWAYS FIRST BE ON THE FRONT LINES WITH THEIR FAMILIES. How else will peace and security finally take a permanent grip on the world?

      • SiliconDoc

Well let’s get back to pre Carter’s Church Commission in running the CIA and our special and secret forces…
Of course we can’t, we won’t. The lefties made it their big fat public circus show in Congress to rip the CIA, NSA, ONI, and every other agency that doesn’t exist to shreds (and they still do it) in their “assassinations are not what enlightened tree hugging nations do!” psychotic world disorder.
So, now instead of being able to let the CIA whack bin laden in a tight knit awesome execution crew of special forces that Clinton refused ten times – we HAVE A NON DECLARED WAR INSTEAD.
It’s the BLOWBACK from the liberal lefts massive tree huggie policies.
THEN – the non declared war carries on forever because of the very same thing – left lawyers all over it here and supporting worldwide the very same thing to tie the hands of our military on the ground in the battlefield before and after they get there. I’m sure the stockholders of Halliburton love it – not to mention the thousands of Americans hired by them…
However, we’ll never change it whining about million dollar bonuses – as that leaves in place the insane policy of NOT going after the leaders and heads before the problem grows out of hand.
I think that’s another “worldwide deal” the big cheeses of every nation state HAVE DECIDED amongst themselves that they’re all off limits…

    • Phil

You rightys did a pretty good job of trying to destroy the military… In fact nobodys ever abused the mitary like you fools..as well as the good job you did of destroying our economy… You have no credibility … None… You rightys ignored Afghanistan for most of the last 8 years just so you could conduct a useless war in Iraq….. President Obama has had more sucess getting the ” bad guys” in Afghanistan in just 1year than the last administration had since 9/11… Pakistan is now cooperating in the war on terrorism , something the Bush administration couldn’t accomplish….as far as trying the terrorist in New york in a civilian court , I can’t think of a better place… Our justice system was set up so they accused would face the victims in court…as much as you hate to gear this it was Bush that pushed the problem of where to try the terrorist on president Obama… So not only does the president have to deal with the economic mess the republicans left this country he also has to deal with the terrorist that were arrested because Bush didn’t want to deal with it….why should anyone listen to failures like you and the rest of your rightwing losers…let’s not leave out Ronald Reagan who tucked his tail between his legs and left lebanon after the marine Barracks bombing…the rightwing has always been incompetent and anti American… Your patriotism is an act just like your fake Christianity …

      • Don Tremaine

        Phil,
I can tell by your rants that you do not really understand what is good for America. The democratic congress is what hurt the economy not the republican president. As for Obama getting better results in Afghanistan, he took months to take the advice of the General on the ground; meanwhile soldiers were dying. Enemy combatants do not have the rights of American citizens. What they did was not a “crime” is was an act of “war”!! A military trail is what is necessary and required, period; anythings else is naive at best and maybe just plain stupid. Democrats what to raise taxes during an economic downturn; that is insanity. America is not about the greater good. You will not find that in the constitution or Bill; of Rights. America is about individual freedom, not the redistribution of wealth. The common good is personal freedom. Socialism is un-American! What Obama does and believes is un-American. He is not good for this country. He does not understand war, he does not understand the free market, he does not understand the red-blooded American experience. He is an elitist socialist who he trying his best to recreate America into a Marxist country.
        Don

      • Louise

        Don,
Least you forget Bush got us into the war in Iraq. Reagan was a ham actor and a bad president.
Do you have anyone in your family in the military? I have two grandsons in the military and both have served in Iraq I have two great nephews in the military. They don’t find fault with President Obama! I for one want our service men and women brougt home!
As far as Sarah Palin is concerned she should keep her mouth shut.
Yes I know she has a son in the military. That doesn’t mean she has the knowledge to be President. She is like Rush, she lets her mouth over load her brain!

      • American Citizen

Do you think you are qualified to be mayor of a town? Do you think you would make a good governor? Sarah has done both. She is smarter than most people like you give her credit for. Read her book for the truth of what really happened during the McCain’s campaign and her service to Alaska. She has a son not just in the military but is in harm’s way.

      • momof4

You have got to be kidding!!!!

      • J C

AC, Palin did an amazing job of cleaning up corruption in Alaska.
We could use a little (a lot) of that in DC. But I’m not sure Palin is up to the job.

      • Palin12

Reagan was NOT a bad president! Historians rank him about 9th of all time greatest US presidents. Compare that to his predecessor, Jimmy Carter ranks in the 30′s. Reagan’s next opponent, Walter Mondale, was an idiot who promised more taxes. It was a landslide election, with Mondale carrying only his home state of Minnesota and Reagan taking all the other 49 states. The economy was good under Reagan also.

        DaveH,
Philly brand seems to forget that the biggest military buster in the recent history was one of his hero’s, Good ol’slick willie!!! He gutted our military so bad they couldn’t even maintain their equipment!!

      • Norm

        Joe H.
He also balanced the federal budget for 3 or 4 years. We still spend more, even under Clinton, than all of Europe combined.

      • http://Yahoo Dee D

Joe – The last administration kicked many troops out with a pre-existing mental disorder and took their enlistment pay back and charged them for lost government equipment. If your arms are blown away by a road side bomb, how are you going to manage to carry your gun back with you?

      • Jana

        DeeD, What??
What does a preexisting mental disorder have to do with losing an arm?

      • http://Yahoo Dee D

Re-read my post Jana – The soldier who had to place the pre-existing mental discharge on the soldiers said he was ordered to discharge at least 3 a day. One way to try to get money back from some volunteers (not drafted) was to say they had a condition that made them ineligible to fight in a war from the beginning. All a game Jana. So he went public as he felt citizens had a right to know what was happening.
With arms blown off not too many could bring back lost government equipment. Just a hypothetical opinion.

      • Jana

DeeD, I wasn’t doubting what you said, I didn’t comprehend what you said.
Who is this guy that said all of this? Where do I go to read up on this? This is very worth looking into.

      • Joe H.

        DeeD,
I think someone asked you for a site??? Who said this CRAP??? I was in for seven years and I never saw one example of this. I haven’t seen one report of this on ANY news report and I think the MSN would chomp at the bit to expose something like this on BUSH!!!!

      • DaveH

Norm, I know you like to hope and dream, but Clinton was just along for the ride on the budget balancing:
        http://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=5656

      • SiliconDoc

My buddies that came back under Clinton just about had blood shooting form their eyes when dummy me brought up his name. Their direct quote : ” He screwed us!”
When I asked the same fellas about Bush, they were hopeful, then at one point wondered if they were going to get screwed, but reported they did NOT, and were pleased.
So that settled it for me.
Furthermore, Clinton was all over Iraq and bombed the piss out of it the whole time he was potus. He refused TEN CHANCES to get rid of Bin Laden ( see Michael Scheuer) eight of which were capture/kill missions and 2 of which were handovers to foreign governments that would have gotten rid of him.
So what we really have is more of the same in power – the 1998 CONGRESSIONAL LAW that passed stated that Saddam must be removed and replaced because of his WMD missions. I watched all the clips still available on the internet – the top popular leadership and otherwise democrats standing up and backing it up 100% and declaring EVERYTHING Bush said about Saddam and Iraq from 1996 – 2002.
Now we see Obama is no different in any major way and has broken every war campaign promise and remade it a hal;f dozen times to fit his new reality.
Also, my entire lifetime, the democrat POTUS’s have been the WAR PRESIDENTS in the majority, including before I was born when Demo Harry S TRuman decided to NUKE 2 CITIES, not to mention JFK’s and LBJ’s and McNamara’s big fat lie fest war Vietnam which the left commie democrats still can’t seem to function in any political way without THAT WAR as a major building block of their public insanities.
Congratulations lefties and democrats – YOU ARE ACTUALLY THE WAR PARTY NOT THE TREE HUGGER PARTY !

      • http://Yahoo Dee D

Joe it was in all the papers and the trooper who went public was so sickened with what was happening he wanted the public to know about it. I do not recall the papers but I will research my files.

Regan certainly was not a horrible President – he slept through most of his briefings and allowed his advisers to guide him through his tenure.

Phil, it honestly is a sheer waste of intellect and time to argue your post point for point. You are delusional. What’s even more laughable is you are still caught up in right vs. left and pinning blame. It’s a much bigger problem than just one side…and people like you only perpetuate the same crap with your mindless opinions and facades of sound logic. You’d be better served to snuggle up with that “wool” Obama blankie of yours and go back to sleep.

      • Rob

Phil makes a couple of good points…

There are many perspectives in which to view America. One such perspective is that international terrorists are plotting against us, and we must do everything neccessary to protect our safety. Passing the USA Patroit Act and curtailing some of our libertys is one such compromise.

Ask any soldier in the field if he is willing to trade freedom for safety. Soldiers put their lives on the line, risk their own personal safety for a greater good….Liberty.

Who are we to throw away liberty in favor of safety, when so many in our armed forces will not. Can we not make a sacrifice as well?

International terrorists are real. But its my own personal opinion that this very real threat is being used as cover for a massive Federal power grab at our expense. We were told the USA Patroit Act would be a tool used to counter terrorism. Instead, from the get go, its been abused. This powerful weapon, has been turned on the American people. Why is the American public under surveillance? There are some that will tell us that the Patroit Act is not being abused. I personally know for a fact that it is. I know that red blooded patriotic Americans are winding up on watch lists. This is wrong.

Federal power is growing. And it plans to grow a lot more. There will be resistance to it, and we are being monitered to identify those who will oppose it. Terrorism is a sham.

Phil is correct, the military is being abused.

But we have to stop looking at this as a Democrat vs Republican situation. Democrats will not save America, neither will Republicans, for BOTH parties are the problem. BOTH parties are nothing more than the left and right arms of the same Frankenstein monster on the loose in Washington DC.

BOTH parties are totally corrupt. Neither party deserves your vote.

Phil makes another valid point. Republicans did borrow money from Communist China to fund their empire building wars.
Communism is the sworn enemy of free and capitalistic states.

Do we have this right? The Bush Administration has traded with the enemy?
Building China’s economy, or “Opening up China” as Bush senior liked to say, could that not be considered giving aid and comfort to the enemy? Communism IS our enemy. The fix was in long ago, even Nixon tried very hard to open up China. We now know their communist government is not going anywhere, and is thriving on its capitalistic economic base, so why do we continue to trade with them?

You make some good points Phil, but not all this mess can be blamed on republicans. It took the abuse of BOTH parties to accomplish this. Lets be honest here.

The problem is corruption in Washington, not any 1 party.

      • SiliconDoc

That’s sweet and all, but if you had to pick either all Republicans or all Democrats in Congress which one would you pick ? Clearly all democrats would be a massive blowout of the USA, and much, much more of the same stupid crap we see now.
The alternate – a Republican controlled 100% Congress and we’d actually see our rights being restored, waste and corruption reducing, and sanity coming back DC with policies that make things outside DC actually WORK.
It’s obvious the corruption is far and wide, the problem is of course the parties are split so evenly, neither agenda is fully implemented, and all the crazy compromise in between yields massive waste, stupid policies, corruption increases all the way through it, and a DC war that increases all that crap we don’t want.
The Congress, specifically the Senate, has a 51/100, 60/100, 67/100, and 75/100 “law making” breach point.
Until we see either party with 76 SOLID out of 100 in the senate, we won’t have anything that amounts to “seeing the differences” between the parties clearly.
Instead, I’m told to believe they are the same, which they of course are not. What they are is split into a near even war that continues on and on each election cycle, with too much of an agreement to split her down the midle and keep any and every other movement/party OUT, or controlled and coralled and crushed.
That doesn’t mean the parties are the same. If anyone still wants to say so, just tell me which one you want at 100% in Congress ( or tell me with a straight face it doesn’t matter and outcome would be the same either way, Republican or Democrat).
Clearly claiming they are the same covers very little ground.

Absolute GARBAGE! Spying on Americans, Illegal search and seizure committed on Americans, Secret arrests of Americans without due process…is a compromise?

Give it a rest my brain washed friend. “Those who would give up a little Liberty for a little security will have neither and lose both.”

      • cherokee1

May god bless your son and I honor your loss and sacrifice to our country!

      • George E

        Ditto to that. Thanks.

‘Phil,’ you don’t ‘get it’ because you’d have to stop and THINK to ‘get it.’ You, bubba clinton and your latest fake hero look at our military as sub-human servants. You and your ilk see our military as expendble chess pieces on the game board of life (and you sit back and watch).
Clinton was responsible for our military having a very low morale. Now that obummer has reversed himself and taken on a war that he used to HATE (SUPPOSEDLY, that is), he has shown his true, useful idiot, hypocritical colors.
Let me guess, you were never in the military. I can’t speak for everyone else who was in the service, but for now I will say that you would have learned a great deal if you had enlisted or if you were drafted. At least you would have had at least ONE foot in the real world – and you might even be able to THINK, instead of being a robotic parrot for your ‘compassionate’ and arrogant political masters.

      • Norm

        Phil
Good post. These guys get caught up in their own nonsense.

      • JeffH

        Norm, polly want a cracker?

      • cr747

        Norm,,
are you and Phil mates.. Must be that the two of you lay in bed together and dream all this BS up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • DaveH

Sure it’s good to someone who bases his intellect on Hopes and Dreams. But anybody who is not a Liberal Zealot can see that most of Pill’s Posts are substanceless.

      • J C

Socialism, like cancer is a disease. It eventually kills it’s host 100% of the time.

      • cr747

        Phil,,
seems to me like you are talking to yourself again..You really need to seek help for this sickness you have gotten.. Such a shame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Brock

Phil you need to be carefull with your fake Christianity statements. Never accuse a Christian of being fake. They make mistakes just like everyone else. They sin and aleays will. The difference is they are able to repent their sin and move on. When you make make statements of that nature, you make them directly to GOD himself. You may hate the righty’s but, my friend, God will chasten you if you make those statements. Just like God is going to chasten(disipline) the USA for all the sins we are committing and the list is long. Gambling, alowing gay marriage, allowing drug use, taking God and prayer our of schools,; etc………… Mark my words, we the USA are going to pay a heavy price for our moral decay…….

      • JEFF

YOU REALLY DONT KNOW WHAT’S RIGHT FOR THIS COUNTRY BUT YOU FIGURE ITS OK TO BE A NICE GUY. IF THE SHOE WAS ON THE OTHER FOOT THEY WOULD NOT HAVE PRISONERS, YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN BEHEADED. I GUESS YOU’RE ONE OF THE PEOPLE THAT FORGOT 9-11 THE ENEMY SHOULD BE DEALT WITH IN A MILITARY COURT. WHY THE HELL SHOULD WE GIVE THEM RIGHTS AS A CITIZEN. YOU MIGHT AS WELL INVITE Osama bin Laden TO STAY AT THE WHITE HOUSE AND TELL HIM TO FORGET THE PAST. WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE THAT THINK LIKE YOU. OUR COUNTRY IS AT THE MOST VULNERABLE IT HAS EVER BEEN AND WITH A LEADER LIKE WE HAVE NOW I AM SCARED, BUT I GUESS YOU JUST DONT CARE. WE WILL BE LUCKY IF THIS COUNTRY IS STILL HERE IN A COUPLE OF YEARS, IF NOT PARTIALLY DESTROYED BY SOMEONE YOU WANT TO BE NICE TO !!!!!!!! GET REAL!!!!!! WAKE UP!!!!!!!

PS I LIKE YOUR 2 CENTS DON

      • SiliconDoc

As I’ve said before here or elsewhere – I was more than quite surprised when the terrorists at Gitmo were not executed after intel extraction.
I suppose the whole rights for criminals, cons, traitors and dirtballs had gone along a lot further than I suspected.
It’s too bad, because that’s how the war is being fought – held back and nicely, taking forever, and costing time and treasure and maybe more lives too.
Now it’s so bad, after they let most of ‘em go, the rest get 100 million plus spent on them in our courts.
Isn’t anyone else sick of wasting all the time, money, treasure, lives, and national pride on terrorists ?
How about we have a new policy. Caught firing on the battlefield, part of the jihad against the great satan ? Time to die, right after you sing in treble.

      • Peggy

        ………………………………………………………………
“You rightys did a pretty good job of trying to destroy the military… In fact nobodys ever abused the mitary like you fools.”
        ………………………………………………………………

Our armed forces have been used fighting two wars, yes. Abused? No, that’s a stretch, which is exactly what has been done to our military…stretched to the limit.

But you’re idiot hero, barak (jim jones) obama is continuing these wars, isn’t he?

Seems I remember recently joe (the gaff machine) biden, taking credit for the success in iraq…..never mind that the harvard professor idiot wouldnt even admit that the surge worked.

During slick willy’s rein, the military was NEGLECTED.

        …………………………………………………………….

as well as the good job you did of destroying our economy… You have no credibility

        …………………………………………………………….

Oops, you forgot all about barney, dodd, and the rest of the demoncratic congress. Idiot.

I am no fan of the man who grew the government by 40%, and gave us the patriot act, but lets be fair. Twice, he tried to reign-in fanny mae and freddy mac, but was blocked by the likes of barney (the bufoon) franks and his ilk.

If you are strictly referring to the 2 wars, then again I must point out that barak (the corpse-man) obama has adopted the same policy.

I should also point-out, what 3 or 4 hurricanes (one of which leveled a capitol city), a space-shuttle disaster, and 9-11…….

        …………………………………………………………….

“You rightys ignored Afghanistan for most of the last 8 years just so you could conduct a useless war in Iraq…..”

        …………………………………………………………….

In light of the fact that amadinajad is still squawking, I couldn’t agree with you more Phil. I need to shower now….

        …………………………………………………………….

” President Obama has had more sucess getting the ” bad guys” in Afghanistan in just 1year than the last administration had since 9/11… Pakistan is now cooperating in the war on terrorism , something the Bush administration couldn’t accomplish…”

        …………………………………………………………….

Bullshit on afghanistan. He has more success in PAKISTAN, because pakistan is JUST NOW starting to cooperate, on account of self-preservation. If you weren’t such a revisionist mook, or just plain ignorant of facts, you would know this.

Instead of helping us, pakistan hindered us in our efforts to get al qaeda, and taliban leadership. Pakistan sheltered them, tipped them off regularly, and made stupid deals with the taliban.

It bit them in the ass. Now they are in survival-mode because the taliban became too powerful.

        idiot.

        …………………………………………………………….

“.as far as trying the terrorist in New york in a civilian court , I can’t think of a better place”

        …………………………………………………………….

You sound just as stupid as that unibrow pathological-liar holder. How dare you impose what you think is right on NY! New Yorkers dont want this PR campaign for a bunch of goat-humping radical muslims.

        …………………………………………………………….

“Your patriotism is an act just like your fake Christianity …”

        …………………………………………………………….

You want to bash Christianity, but give a free pass to Islam? While it is true that the larger part of so-called Christians are hypocrites, it wasn’t Christians who flew planes into the towers.

Do you want to qualify that remark? Do you have proof that someones Christian faith is fake? Are you saying that Christianity is fake?
Or are you saying that true Christians wouldn’t do, such-and-such?

Explain what you mean by this, and maybe you wont seem like such a nasty child.

      • Phil

Peggy… A large source of your ignorance is that you equate all Muslims with terrorist…. It’s a very small % of Muslims that support terrorist…. And again… I’m neither impressed or convinced with your attempt to condone your hate with Christianity…

      • Peggy

Hey Phil, not ALL muslims are terrorists, but ALL the terrorists were muslim. Idiot.

Muslims flew the planes, not Christians.

And my gripe with Christianity, is valid. Only a hypocrite would support an undeclared war, where the antagonists are not even there.

This war should have been scrapped the minute they dropped bombs on a wedding party (innocent people), or the Canadians for that matter.

Only a hypocrite would conspire to rob humanity of something that the Creator endowed us all with, free-will. Why should a Christian care if gays married?

      • SiliconDoc

Phil, I thought you libs claimed to be good at watching polls ?
” Polls taken in Pakistan, where bin Laden is being harbored, reveal that 70% of Pakistanis view the world’s most famous Islamic terrorist very favorably. In fact, Osama has become the most popular name for boys in the region.

Therefore, based upon the most objective data available to us, at least 60% of all Muslims have the potential to be jihadists by way of their fundamentalist voting patterns. That is to say, Islam has grown substantially closer to its salafi, and thus terrorist, roots over the past decade. It is safe to say that 750 million Muslims are fundamentalists trying to follow Allah’s orders and Muhammad’s example. And as fundamentalists, they are potential jihadists.

If the 60% response levels derived from polling data is an accurate reflection of the current state of Islam, then sex and age criteria further reduce Islamic terrorist candidates down to a maximum of one in every seven Muslims – 25% of 60%. That means that no more than 15% of the total Islamic population of 1.2 to 1.5 billion people has the potential to be a terrorist should the opportunity arise. That equates to a minimum of 180 million potential jihadists and a maximum of 225 million. ”

Now, when 60% of a population, or 70% SUPPORTS in their hearts and minds what we call terrorists, islamic jihadists, and the new war enemy – you consider that “a small percentage”.
        LOL

The last bastion of that snuggly warm happy feeling is the ignorant mind of a leftist.

Peggy: You asked this question in your post—->”Do you have proof that someones Christian faith is fake?”
        …………………………………………………………………………………………..
Yes Peggy, I know of one person whose Christian faith IS FAKE!

        OBAMAS IS FAKE! ;-)

      • Peggy

        Touche!

      • http://aol Devil Dog

Hey Phil, I believe you are still in diapers and shouldn’t be listening to your indoctrinators like herr o0bermeister(the one that can’t get a date because of his hatred for the USA}, and his les mistress frau maddow. Get a life will you? or maybe go to Iran,Syria,North Korea and a dozen other countries that believe the way you do.

      • Andy in Idaho

I don’t think it is ever right to question another’s faith. How can any of us know what is really in another’s heart?

      • http://wwwNRA.com Stephaan

Well Andy you can start by looking at Oliars actions. I don’t doubt his Islamist faith, ideals, or religion at all. He shows it every day. I am just not one of the .00000001% that believe that he is a Christian also! How can he claim to be Christian & Muslum at the same time? He is a bigger flip-flopper than Clinton ever was!

      • Peggy

        Forensically.

      • Peggy

These re-regurgitated canned statements are starting to make you look like a one-trick-pony Phil. Maybe we should just call you Phil-less.
