Immigration Reform Advocates Allege Jobs Bill Will Allow Employers To Hire Illegal Aliens

March 2, 2010 by

Immigration reform advocates allege jobs bill will allow employers to hire illegal aliens As the $15 billion jobs bill advanced through Congress last week, the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) said the measure included no verification mechanism to ensure that newly created jobs will be filled by legal U.S. workers.

FAIR also alleges that the bill, which was authored by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), does not prevent employers from claiming tax credits and exemptions if the workers they hire are illegal aliens.

"It is unconscionable that while some 25 million Americans are unemployed or relegated to part-time work, the Senate is refusing to include protections that would guarantee that newly-created jobs are filled by Americans who desperately need them," said Dan Stein, president of FAIR.

He accused Reid of "consistently" blocking any efforts to prevent businesses that receive government contracts or tax benefits from hiring illegal immigrants.

The bill is a package of tax credits and exemptions for employers who create new jobs. On Feb. 23, five Republicans, including the newly elected Senator Scott Brown (R-Mass.), joined 57 Democrats in breaking the Republican filibuster, opening the way to the final vote.

Easist way to stop illegals is to fine employors $100,000 a head, for hiring illegals. Second put bountys on all illegals heads, $5000 a hd. would save America at least $10,0000, and still pay the boynty hunters. They are private contractors, so wouldn’t have to worry about healthcare. Our healthcare systems would slowy get back to normal. Since the illegals walked in we can load them back in livestock trailer for a trip back to the border, we humane!

    • http://SRT Kevin W.345

      Open season anyone?

    • Joe H.

      i41,
The easiest way to do this is put a 100.00 bounty on each illegal and give it over to all the bounty hunters in each state. If they bring in ten a week they make a thousand. At the rate they cost us in services, welfare and crime it would be a bargain at 200.00 a head!!!

Question – Who was it that rounded up all of Castro’s throw away convicts et al in a Miami Stadium and not only gave them amnesty but invoked citizenship on the lot ftom Cuba??????????

    • jim

Hi Vinnie, That would be Carter.

      • Vinnie

I don’t think so Jim – It was a Republican President, who saw all the smiling faces in the voting booth. I want to say Reagan – but am not absolutely sure it was him. I am researching the matter and will return with the answer.

      • Vinnie

Lo & Behold! It was Reagan! In 1986 Ronald Reagan granted amnesty to 3 million people, which included Cubans whom he gathered together in Miami at the Orange Bowl and declared them instant citizens.

      • jim

Hi Vinnie, I thought it was the late 70′s when a huge group of Cubans came over but that was many beers ago, so it could have been early 80′s. We’re still talking around 30 years ago. Let’s worry about NOW.

      • libertytrain

The big one that caused much hardship, particularly for Florida was during Carter’s term – i.e.
Floods of refugees crossed the Florida Strait in 1980 during the six-month Mariel Boat Lift, when Fidel Castro temporarily lifted restrictions preventing his people from leaving their homeland.
More than 125,000 people left Cuba; among them the “undesirables” – people from the nation’s prisons and insane asylums – but also many law-abiding, mentally healthy “Marielitos” who continue to suffer the stigma associated with the exodus.
Then-Gov. Bill Clinton agreed with the Carter administration’s decision to house some of the Cuban refugees in Arkansas, a move that later contributed to Clinton’s defeat in his first re-election bid.

      • Michael J.

        Jim,
You are correct, it was Jimmy Carter who was deceived by Castro to accept a few dozen immigrants initially. Later it was realized that Castro had used the occasion to empty his jails and mental wards to the tune of 125,000 individuals. These individuals were granted refugee status along with all the trimmings that comes with that distinction upon reaching American soil. Among the refugees was the lead character in the movie “Scarface”.

  • Phil

And it’s pitiful that you’d try an use the excuse of a bill from 1965…

    • blackhat

Why not phil? Because Myron went back 50 years? What’s the difference you bag on legislation that is 30 years old all the time. Or, are you just being hypocritical?

  • Phil

Myron… You should go read the”1965″ immigration bill… “IT WAS NOT AN AMNASTY BILL…

  • Phil

Myron … This is a ” yes” or ” no” question….. Did Ronald Reagan give illegals amnasty?…. Yes or no?…. And did his presidency come long after any Ted Kennedy bill?…you just keep avoiding the facts

    • Michael J.

      Phil,
No, Ronald Reagan never awarded amnasty to anyone. He did however, grant amnesty to three million illegals in 1986. I know, I know, phonics didn’t warrant a high priority in the socialist indoctrination schools that you attended. Just as long as you learned the difference between the R’s and the D’s, your comrad professors were satisfied. It’s an amazing feat when you stop and think about it, how they manage to perpetrate such a crime of brainwashing on unsuspecting students/subjects without the victims of said crimes awareness.

Anyway, back to topic, how does amnesty for three million illegals 24 years ago justify amnesty for twelve to twenty million more illegals today? Especially when you consider having to incarserate the criminals amongst them, birth their anchor babies, provide general health care, provide housing and food stamps for all of them. The cost for all of this is breaking the bank in many states and most prominately in Mexifornia.

I have an idea Phil, why don’t you sneak accross the border some night into Mexico, stay there a year and then report back on all the entitlements you received from the generous Mexican government and then we will match it, OK?

      • blackhat

Michael, we do have to give phil a little credit here. He has created a new word for the American lexicon…am”nasty” – (verb) allowing people who break the immigration laws to get away with it.

      • http://wwwNRA.com Stephaan

Damn blackhat; I was hoping that Phils new “AM NASTY” plan meant that we were all going to get a Mexican hooker for our enjoyment ;-)

  • Phil

So it’s a fact that Ronald Reagan gave illegals amnasty…. So Clinton really couldn’t do anything about illegals( he came after Reagan)…so after Clinton came Bush…. So once again , it’s republicans who never do anything about illegal immigration…. I realize I’m dealing with rightwingers with the intelligence of children but you have to admitt these are facts…republicans are weak on illegal immigration and I think they’re weak so they can have cheap labor to undercut unions and American workers…

  • http://myronjpoltroonian.blogspot.com Myron J. Poltroonian

Ah, Phil. Ted (Edward the Idiot, of Camelot) Kennedy, in the sixties, introduced an amnesty bill, signed into law, that he touted would “Not change the face of America and would not take one job away from American workers, nor encourage one more illegal (“undocumented” was not yet in our politically incorrect lexicon) to cross our borders”. How many were here at the time? About a million. Anything change? Hmm?

    • http://wwwNRA.com Stephaan

      Myron,
And it’s obvious that Kennedy was slugging down the sauce at the time. To answer your question “has anything changed since that time”?
Ummmm? Well yeah! Kennedy is no longer swilling the alcohol!! ha ha ha ;-)

      • blackhat

And, don’t forget that Ted was “slugging” women over bridge railings then too!

      • Joe H.

        blackhat,
Sacrelige!!!! You aren’t supposed to bring that up about good ol’ Eddie K.!!! He was a saint!!!! Too bad now all he gets is hot drinks ala hades!!!!

  • Vinnie

It is more than past the time when the majority of good honest hard working true Americans rise up in unison and demand a rounding up of all illegals, as well as those who harbor them, and deport the B#st$$ds!!!!!!

  • http://myronjpoltroonian.blogspot.com Myron J. Poltroonian

To paraphrase the wonderful, compassionate women regulars on “The View”, “What is it with Democrat women [in charge of federal agencies] named Janet?”. Anyway: “Don’t Worry, Bob’s here!” That was the punch line from a rather memorable commercial for a temp agency from a few years ago. I took that line, applied it to illegal immigration and came up with the following tongue in cheek essay: “Don’t worry, B.O.B.’s here!” “B.O.B.” stands for “Bag limit? Or Bounty?” (If Bounty, “Dead or Alive?”) It went on from there. Unfortunately, it’s lost somewhere in the old, real old computer it was created on. You, however, I believe, get the idea. Of course, the “progressives” who read it were “outraged, simply outraged” by it. I saw this reaction as a good sign, since they usually are by the truth. I also was saddened by the realization that “A Modest Proposal”, or something similar, could not be published in todays world of “Politically Correct, New Speak”.

Vic, I’m a Dirt Hauler in the Sacramento area. One of my favorite north/south routes to and from several of the rock and/or hot plants in the Marysville area is Pleasant Grove Rd., east of SR 70. At the intersection with Bear River Drive, on the northwest corner, amongst the walnut groves, is a little Mexican Market. In that little grocery store, on the counter near the register, are two (2) red corded telephones – without dials/keypads. Both are directly connected to Mexico via a money exchange service. In season, those phones get quite a workout. (“That giant sucking sound”. Where is ol’ “H.” these days?)

  • Phil

Ronald Reagan gave illegals amnasty…republicans do this everytime…. I’ll ask this again even though I know I’ll get the same ignorant answers… Because it’s you rightys bitching about illegals… Why didn’t you do something about illegal immigrants when you had the whitehouse for 8 yrs and congress for 6…. If it was me bitching about illegals you could say” why didn’t Clinton” so why should republicans bitch if they did nothing when you could have…?

    • jim

Hi Phil, WE have a Den monopoly NOW, what are they doing NOW. I agree the Reps. should have done something about it THEN and we were saying they should have back then also. WE are staying consistant. Hop into your time machine and get back to 2010 instead of whining about Bush, AGAIN.

      • jim

DEM not DEN, who put that N by the M?

      • Phil

Jim, you need to read these post on this site….irs not me doing the whining about illegals…. It’s the rightwingers … So the logical question “is”.. Why didn’t you doing something about it when you could have… Isn’t that a commonsense question?… Did Ronald Reagan grant them amnesty?… So far not 1 righty has the honesty or courage to answer that question…. You and I both know all the things the republicans ignored and pushed down the road are now issues you want to use aginst President Obama…and it’s my job to point that out…

      • jim

I told you Phil I have ALWAYS been consistant with Writing congressmen, senators, newspaper editorials about the problem of ILLEGAL imigrants no matter what party was or is in control. What part of that don’t you get? You always point out what Reps have done in the past, but you can never defend what is going on NOW. The people you don’t like are gone, what are the people you support doing NOW. I agree Reagan made a mistake granting amnesty, and when Bush tried it again it was stopped by people like me writing our politicians. Your statement of “It’s not you whining about ILLEGALS, It’s right wingers.” would it be safe to say you whole heartedly suport ILLEGAL imigration? It’s my job to point out to you that BUSH isn’t here anymore, What is Obama and congress doing about it NOW?

  • Franker Frank

Does anybody remember problems with illegal aliens before Roe v. Wade? Are not illegal aliens just replacing Americans we have murdered in the womb?
Ever hear the saying, “If you are not a part of the solution there is great money to be made by prolonging the problem.” Both the largest and most successful organized crime syndicate in history (AKA the Democratic Party) and the biggest and most successful organized beggars union (AKA the Republican Party) have discovered this. Have you?

  • Vic

Has anyone seen the millions spent to support all the illegal immigrants in jail? They get free housing, food, cable, access to the gym, and medical. Free to them but it’s our tax dollars paying for all of it. With all the current cuts to the “virtual fence” and border patrols how are they going to stop the illegal immigrants from crossing the border into the USA? It upsets me that schools MUST provide a Spanish speaking teacher, extra costs. This is America. We speak English.

US economy largely unaffected by illegal immigration

    Tucson, Arizona | Published: 12.03.2009

WASHINGTON — A study released Wednesday concludes that illegal-immigrant workers do not drain jobs or tax dollars and have a neutral impact on the U.S. economy.
Because illegal immigrants occupy a small share of the work force — about 5 percent — and work low-skilled jobs at lower wages than other workers, their overall influence on the economy is trivial, according to the report, sponsored by the Migration Policy Institute, a pro-immigration think tank in Washington.
“The fate of the U.S. economy does not rest on what we do on illegal immigration,” said Gordon H. Hanson, author of the report and economics professor at the University of California-San Diego.
Illegal immigrants contribute a tiny 0.03 percent of the U.S. gross domestic product, with that gain going to employers who save money on cheap labor, the report says, while their cost to the economy is 0.10 percent of GDP, which mainly comes from public education and publicly funded emergency health care.
The net impact at minus 0.07 percent of GDP means that illegal immigrants have an essentially neutral effect on the economy, Hanson said.
The report does not factor in the spending or entrepreneurship that illegal immigrants contribute to the economy, said Marc Rosenblum, senior policy analyst at the Migration Policy Institute.
Where illegal immigrants do have a substantial impact, Hanson added, is in specific labor-intensive and low-skilled industries such as agriculture, construction, hospitality and cleaning services, where the share of native-born workers has dropped precipitously.
Because the U.S. has dramatically raised the education level of its adult population in the last 50 years — going from about 50 percent of all working-age adults without a high school diploma in 1960 to just 8 percent today — the native-born, low-skilled work force has shrunk, while employers continue to require low-skilled workers.
This leaves room for illegal immigrants to take such jobs at a low cost, the report says.
Illegal immigrants now account for 20 percent of working-age adults in the U.S. who don’t have a high school degree.
While the influx of illegal immigrants is one of the factors keeping low-skilled wages stagnant, the biggest losers in the current system are legal low-wage workers, both native and foreign born, who compete with the illegal immigrants, Rosenblum said.
Meanwhile, employers reap higher profits because of lower labor costs and more productive businesses.
The solution to this imbalance, proposed by the Migration Policy Institute, is to provide more visas and legal channels for unskilled workers to enter the U.S.
Today, low-skilled workers must have a green card — effectively requiring them to have close family members in the U.S. — or obtain a temporary work visa.
“We really need to approach migration control comprehensively by both strengthening enforcements and creating legalization mechanisms that will control the unauthorized population and improve the economic outputs that we get from immigration,” Rosenblum said.

Truth??? your words in YOUR POST!—-> according to the report, sponsored by the Migration Policy Institute, a pro-immigration think tank in Washington.

Well there’s something that was obviously written by a liberal socialist group! “SPONSORED BY A “PRO-IMMIGRATION THINK TANK”…..
      NO BIAS THERE! Yeah right!!!
Where are the REAL FACTS that you talk about?? Oh…Don’t have any? Typical liberals, lots of biased opinions, but no facts or substance.
How can you in good conscience, post under the name “truth” when you are a lying liberal? Oh yeah I forgot, “no conscience”, lying’s ok as long as it furthers your liberal socialist agenda.
For real humor we don’t need Seinfeld or Leno anymore. We just come here and read your posts for our daily dose. Thanks for that!

    • Joe H.

      Truth(?),
There might have been a small shred of truth to what you posted if all they did was go to the fields, but there was a report by 60 minutes a while back that shows in Texas towns that they are takinfg construction work, painting, working in meat packing plants at 12.00 an hour, mechanic work, welding. What do you think that does to our workforce? I say fine any employer a healthy fine if they hire illegals, fine landlords if they rent to them, make E-verify permanent, And most important, if found deport, deport, deport. Did I mention DEPORT???

      • Vincent

I used to be a welder but I lost my job to illegals that were willing to work for less money then my 20 years of experience could get me. I would have been willing to work for $15 per hour but no company would hire me because they could get the illegals to work for $5 per hour. I had to change careers and thankfully my new career has not yet been taken by illegals.

  • DiverDan

First of all we do NOT need more illegals, and we sure do not need them to take jobs needed by Americans
This will only invite MORe illegals to come here. I have Run a business in Texas, and most of the applicants were illegal. Go across this country, and see how many there actually are, from California, all across the southern states, even up into MAss & New England, even right in DC itself. This is a FACT.

We need to stop the flow from all of Central America and other countries of illegals. We first pay their medical bills to have babies here, then we spend on educating the babies for 12 years each, along with all their medical bills for for most of their life, this is part of why we are going broke.
I know former INS agents that were told to let them in by congress, or we would pay $10.00 for a head of lettuce. BULL.
I am not going to blame any party, BUT STOP ILLEGALS NOW!!! Eliminate that drain on our economy, most of these people send a good portion of their money back to their homeland, so it does not really help our economy, only their homeland.
How many illegals do we have….we will never know as they hide at census time.

    • Vincent

This administration actually wants to count the illegals because it increases their constituency. You are right that both parties are guilty of allowing the flow of illegals into our country, it is up to us to let them know that it is vital they stop the flow of illegals into our country. I am a hispanic who’s heritage goes back to the spaniards entering the new world via the Gulf of Mexico through Texas into Colorado. My family experienced severe discrimination so they elected not to teach us spanish. I have no regrets and am a devoted patriot of the USA. My family and I will stand up and fight for our country anywhere anytime, my own child has done a tour of Afghanistan and I have nephews who have done tours in Iraq. We are also affected by the inflow of illegal Mexican immigrants. There are several generations of people like me in the USA who love this country and are treated as if we are illegals by the Americans and like second class citizens by the illegals. We are Americans in every way and will defend the American way to our death.

      • Joe H.

        Vincent,
        God Bless you and yours!!

  • Phil

Warrior… I’d rather the unemployed in this country get some relief instead of wallstreet….I’m wondering where Bunnings concern was when Wallstreet was getting bailedout while President Bush was in office….I’m listening to Bunning right now speaking to congress and I’m again wondering why he wasn’t concerned about borrowing from China while Bush was funding his personal war in Iraq.. It just makes a rational person wonder if it’s just politics..again..

    • Joe H.

      Phil,
Then you are also listening to the stupidity of Reid as I am!!! How the people ever let him get elected I will never understand!!!

    • Warrior

      Phil,

Congress passes a pay/go bill two weeks ago that means that if you want new spending you have to find the funding for it. A week goes by and already they break their own rules. It has nothing to do with bush, clinton, george washington et,al or the unemployed. It is about fiscal responsibilty which there isn’t any.

      • Joe H.

        Warrior,
amen brother! the problem with the dems is someone called their bluff and demanded they do what they say for a change. The unemployed were not hurt by this stand in the sand as he capitulated today and the benefits will be retroactive!!! It DOES go to show that the dems will say one thing and do another just to try to look rightous but this time it FAILED!!!!!

  • Phil

Lol.. Hey… That’s the typical responce from the right…too much fact in my post for you to comprehend?

    • john

Phil I would not call your post a presentation of facts merely a partial representation. Joe H is right Clinton did nothing about it either. And the problem would have been easier to deal with then.

      • Phil

John…Clinton was president 3 administrations ago….so if your going to whine and complain about illegals don’t you think Bushs administration should have addressed the problem insteading of passing it on ?.. Like almost everyother issue president Obama faces… So far his 1st year has been trying to fix the economic disaster left by the republicans…

      • Joe H.

        phil,
And Clintoon shouldn’t have passed it on to the next term either. Bush isn’t president either so it still is the fault of the present pres and he hasn’t done crap!!!!!

  • Hey

    Phil, go smoke some more.

    • Raggs

      Amen!!! Hey…

  • Phil

Illegals ?,.. Why didn’t the republicans do something about illegals when they had the whitehouse for 8 years and 6 years in congress?.. This is just more whining and crying from Republicans that shoved the problem down the Road to the democrats then think they have the answers.. Just about every issue President Obama has to deal with are issues that Republicans neglected .. As usual…

    • Joe H.

      Phil,
I can say the same thing to you. Why didn’t Clintoon, with 8 years in as president do something about the illegals in this country? Because he was too busy chasing Monica around the desk!!!!

    • not impressed

      Phil,
Don’t let your kool-aid run low!

    • DeeCee

Phil, you are really full of it!

  • Warrior

The bill mostly covers added funding for existing gov programs. Congress tries to push through another unfunded stimulis and Bunning says hold on, how are we going to pay for this? Another prime example of what’s wrong with our leadership.

  • ALAN BELL

TO VOTE FOR JOBS IS A GOOD THING , WE NEED THEM IN THE WORST WAY .
BUT TO DO NOTHING TO PROTECT THOSE JOBS FOR LEGAL US WORKERS IS WRONG .

  • Sonny M

This bill should have exempted illegal aliens from taking American citizens jobs. The U.S. spends $90 billion dollars per year on illegal aliens already. If Congress were concerned about jobs for Americans they would do their job and deport the 12 or more million illegal aliens that are now here and their anchor babies, this would create more jobs for Americans and save billions of dollars in taxpayers money.

    • Vincent

You are so right. Americans need the jobs the Illegal Aliens are taking and the worst part is that the current administration has decided not to enforce the laws agains the business’s that hire them. I am very disappointed in my country because my children can not find jobs just because they are not bilingual. We waste money in every level of our society due to illegal immigration and our embracing the spanish language. I cannot quote how much we spend on providing documents and services in spanish but I imagine it is a lot of money. We also provide bilingual education when we should be demanding that any immigrant illegal or otherwise learn english. This is an uphill battle that I am afraid to admit that I am sure we will not win.

  • http://SynergeticsHealth.com Michelle Johnson

Of course Reid is after illegal votes. He is in big trouble in Nevada, and we are FULL OF ILLEGALS. 3 of my kids are out of work, but there are plenty of illegals in Mcdonalds and every other fast food and restaurant (not to mention other service industries) in town. They seem to be doing just fine and will not suffer from all the new tax burdens placed upon the rest of us by all the jobs killing garbage coming from Washington. If Harry Reid can get support from the population he hopes we all become (subservient and dependent upon gov’t) he will be the happiest guy in the world. It is his only chance of surviving the showdown in Nov. 2010. HOWEVER…and this is probably the only good thing about the bill. Washington screws up everything it touches. It probably won’t produce one job because employers are not that stupid…they know that a little tax credit will not support long term hiring in this economy.

    • http://None Richard Fletcher

I agree with Michelle Johnson and Raggs on this issue

  • Raggs

Reid is trying to gain votes from the illegals, That is what this is about.

  • Phil

Scott Brown cast his vote for jobs… Good job…

    • Joe H.

      Phil,
I agree, maybe your job will be the next to be taken by an illegal and then we won’t have to put up with you anymore!!!!
