Sarah Palin Takes On Family Guy Over Down Syndrome Joke

February 23, 2010 by

Sarah Palin takes on Family Guy over Down syndrome joke Fox News commentator Sarah Palin said she was disappointed with the animated comedy Family Guy’s joke in which the character Chris falls for a girl with Down syndrome who says her mother is "the former governor of Alaska."

Palin, whose youngest son has Down Syndrome, wrote on her Facebook page that she felt like she received "another kick in the gut," and asked "when is enough enough?" quoted by the Associated Press (AP).

Various members of the former Alaska governor’s family also weighed in, with her daughter Bristol stating that the producers of the parody show that airs on Fox were "heartless jerks" for what she said was an act of mocking her brother.

This is not the first time Sarah Palin has been caught up in a "political correctness" controversy surrounding the way public figures have used terms that may refer to people with disabilities in a derogatory manner.

Earlier this month, she blasted White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel for calling some Democrats "f*** retarded," something which Palin said amounted to a "racial slur."

The former GOP vice presidential candidate called on President Obama to remove the Chicago politician from his inner circle.

I think Dana has the right idea. I mean, look at us. We are so divided. Everything is about either left or right, nothing being said about the direction of this bus we’re all on. Come on folks, we keep changing bus drivers but we’re not changing the direction of the bus. We do need leaders from the private sector….. Individuals with business experience and expertise, not more lawyers. Jesse Venture had it totally correct when he stated that to have the people who interpret the law, making the laws, that is a conflict of interests and should NOT be allowed. How many lawyers do you know that have ever run a real retail business and understand management, inventory control, daling with the public and real public relations let alone human resources skills. I don’t know a single one. It’s time to stop pointing fingers and get on track and look for real leadership for our country, not the lesser of two evils.

    • DaveH

      Ron,
I’ve known some pretty intelligent Lawyers, but it is definitely a conflict of interest to have them creating laws. Of course they are going to lean to complexity so they and their buddies are guaranteed a living.
Government can not run peoples’ lives as well as people can run their own. If people do not care enough to educate themselves to make the correct decisions about their own wants and needs, it is pure folly to expect some disinterested Government official to care and make the correct decisions for them.

    • American Citizen

It’s for sure they know nothing about economics except how to take other people’s money.

  • Rod

Sarah, consider the source! These mindless freaks have nothing more
to do in life. Don’t let them get to you. We love ya and think you are a HOOT and a HOLLER. Great people like you come along once in a life time and we value your presence! Keep up the good work, we are
    with you!

  • DaveH

    Isn’t Free Speech Grand?

    • blackhat

Hey Dave, I read about Free Speech once. It was in…ummm…a book…no…a pamphlet…it said Constitution on the cover…whatever that is…

  • Earl, QUEENS,NY

Sarah Palin has good reasons to speak out!! Of course, it’s like beating a dead horse to complain about the liberals’ cruel heartless jokes, or the double standard – what if conservatives told jokes about liberals or their kids? E.g. if they had a skit in which a normal healthy school girl is asked what her parents do, and she said: “My dad’s a teleprompter reader who gives speeches, and my mom’s a hospital administrator who dumps patients in Chicago”. IMO, we should give the liberals a dose of their own medicine!! Although we MUST NOT mock the handicapped or physically challenged, some humor is acceptable…..BTW, as to politicians’ kids, why didn’t the liberals show more sympathy for Chelsea during the Clinton years? It must’ve been embarrassing for her, as everyone, including her peers, knew her father was a womanizer and adulterer.

  • http://columbusbuilder.com Enzo

I’ll lighten up, Ric… when cartoon shows start making fun of the fact Obama’s kids are 3/4 Negro. Did I offend anyone here… I sure hope so, because they need to know the depth of their hypocrisy.

  • Ric

Lighten up people; this program makes fun of every creed, color, religion, social standing, and ethinic background. I wish this you people were as passionate about what’s really tearing this country apart; the incompetance and greed of politicians both democrat and republican alike. Get a grip on reality and stop being stupid people!

    • http://www.cubasi_kastrono PETER MARTORI

Well, if you would read or get more info on Sarah’s C.V. in her mandate as Governor of Alaska, and even prior to that time, she was just doing that…cleaning the “house” of corrupted politicians, she did go against her own and same republicans coleagues .
No one in all Alaska would say the contrary ,except for lefties and dishonest democrats.
What she stands for is precisely that : Honest ,responsible and caring policies..not politicking..as usual…the word CHANGE was hers first , prior to being used by the Nobama’s camp…

  • Phil

The tea party has a leader?.. Who?.. Since were on the subject , Is Rush still the leader of the republican party?…

    • Claire

Sad about tea parties, they are becoming know to be led by Republicans. The Republicans in my town are taking credit for starting tea parties.

      • Claire

“known” — time for me to go to bed.

CALM DOWN EVERYONE PLEASE CALM DOWN. Lets face it Obama,Pelosi,Reid and the rest of the left wing clan will soon be gone, just hang on the more crap from the left the better people are seeing there true colors. You Conservatives ruined this country. i wish all conservative parenets would have abortions then this country would be great.

What a fine shining poster-child you are for the liberal left.

Then there would be no one for you to feed off of, literally.

        michael,
        What is a parenet????

      • eyeswideopen

It’s a Conservative/Repub parent who doesn’t discipline their own children, but will tell everyone else how to raise theirs. Because they are right about everything, just ask DaveH. lol

      • Joe H.

Wouldn’t you know it, I ask michael a question and his mouthpiece eyescrustedshut answers!!! Of course her answer isn’t any more truthful than his would be so I guess it doesn’t matter!!!!

Go Sarah go! I know that you are real, but I just can not support you for President because I just do not believe that you can swing the women vote, especially away from the self-Proclaiming MARXIST Obama! I’d love to see Fred Thompson enter the fight because I see him as even better than the late, great Ronald Reagan, when Fred also cuts government spending, along with our Taxes!

  • Phil

This is just Sarah using her children once again to make the news….”Gidget” will do anything for attention ……

    • blackhat

What I hear you saying Phil is that we should all just let it go…okay…see you Phil…bye…you can go now…

    • Blue

      You’re a moron!

    • DaveH

Sorry, Phil, but it’s your ignorant Liberals that keep Sarah in the spotlight. She is getting plenty of free publicity at the hands of those who dislike her. Not too smart on their part. When people watch her speeches and see that she is a normal intelligent person, it just makes her detractors look even dumber.
Keep in mind that I would not even vote for Sarah, as I only vote for Libertarians, but, compared to most Liberals I’ve heard speak, Sarah seems like a downright Genius.

      • Norm

Don’t worry neither Sarah nor Ron Paul have a snowball’s chance in hell off being president.

      • Claire

Regarding CPAC–straw poll/vote–look who came out ahead. And look who was at the bottom. Very interesting.

      • Phil

Dave.. Liberals keep Sarah in the spotlight?… You are aware this story is on a rightwing site ?…as well as the Family guy… And isn’t Sarah a regular spokesperson on Fox ?… Sheeesh…. Man, your rightwingers are dumb..the republican leaders have even convinced you that healthcare is socialism while they enjoy they’re goverment healthcare… Not to mention calling the recovery act socialism while taking the money for their own states…don’t you ever feel like your republican leaders are making fools out of you…?.. And of course the republican millionairs that lead your partyvwould rather you pay taxes than pay taxes themselves…

      • DaveH

A man who calls me dumb keeps repeating the phrase “your Republicans” when I have made it clear that I am not a Republican.
Save your ignorance for the Liberals, Phil, it is wasted on me.

      • eyeswideopen

DAveh, he refers to them as your repubs, as you defend them all the time, and you blame everything wrong on the Dem’s. You generalize all the time and you want unhappy repubs to switch to your party, so naturally he calls them your republicans.

      • DaveH

When the Democrats show some morality, I will defend them too.
The same goes for Liberals from any party.
I have seen little from you that elicits respect.

      • DaveH

I can’t help myself. I just can’t cozy up to thieving, lying, controlling Liberals.

      • eyeswideopen

DaveH, so all Dems are now immoral? You are a radical, who generalizes about everything. Next you will be claiming that all blue eyed people are why the banks were failing.

      • DaveH

Correct me if I’m wrong, Phil, but didn’t you attack a previous commentor for his spelling and grammar mistakes?
Maybe you should try spell-check before launching any such attacks in the future. I can sure tell you are a public school product.

      • DaveH

        Yep, it was you:
“Robert, after attempting to read your post…. I’m positive you voted for Sarah Palin…”

Your comments are riddled with grammar and spelling errors, yet like a typical Liberal you put down others for the same thing.

      • libertytrain

DaveH – I just get the biggest hoot out of folks not knowing how to spell or the correct usage of words putting down others for the same thing. The left is not any better at spelling than the right – Seems to me a lot of folks didn’t get good schoolin’ or maybe they think they are spelling correctly – which is even more scary.

      • DaveH

The public schools are too busy propagandizing the children. They don’t have time to teach them how to read and write.

      • American Citizen

Seems to me the stimulus bill is an Obama and Democrat Congress bill.

  • blackhat

Talk about a lose/lose situation here. If Palin speaks out she is trashed by libs for being thin skinned. If Palin does not speak out she would be trashed for not having defended her family…sheesh…

    • Claire

This is what we call the game of Politics.

  • Kathy

It’s amazing how the “tolerant” left-wing liberals are so judgmental and intolerant of the right. If a right-wing conservative was “politically incorrect” about a left-wing liberal’s family member with Down Syndrome, it would make headline news on the Lamestream Media. The left hates and fear Sarah Palin so much because she speaks the truth. She threatens their sinful, intolerant ways.

    • Phil

Kathy, I bet you were equally offended by Rush Limbaughs remarks about Chelsea Clinton and Amy Carter?… Of course you were…..

      • jim

Do Chelsea and Amy have a disability? I wasn’t aware.

      • Phil

Jim, so Clinton and Carters children were fair game because they wernt disabled?..is that your argument?.. Personally I believe the cartoon was aimed at Sarah since the child in the cartoon was a little girl… And I still believe as long as she keeps using her children as political props she has exposed her children to this kind of treatment… I’ve never seen the show in question, but I’ve seen enough South Park and Simpson dhows to know they do this type of parody….you know what I do hen I find something offensive… ?… I switch the channel….by the way, Rush went on for years about how ugly Amy Carter and Chelsea Clinton were..

      • jim

Well Amy and Chelsea aren’t cute. Is that the worst Evil Rush Did? Comment on there looks? I know the Bush girls caught flack also. I would prefer all the children were off limits, but it seems thet’re not, even the disabled ones seem to be open game.

      • Claire

jim–when a person lives in a fishbowl, they are all up for criticism. The whole world sees and knows what they do. The media/ talk show hosts go after them all, including the kids. Makes no difference who is in the White House. For the most part, I think the Bushes, Clintons, and the Obamas do try to keep their kids out of the public eye. They never thrust them out into the public eye on a continous basis.

      • eyeswideopen

Claire, good point, we saw more of Sarah’s children than we saw of Chelsea Clinton in four years. We hardly ever saw Bush’s girls unless they were in trouble. But for three months, we saw Palin’s kids, every time she spoke. On Greta, during interview, her youngest daughter stated it was hard to catch up in school after the campaign. The campaign is for adults.

      • Joe H.

        jim,
Well who their parents COULD be a disability!!!

    • Claire

Kathy–I beg to differ about the “sinful, tolerant ways.” I believe the Republicans and the Democrats are tying for first place.

  • http://att&tuverse Roscoe

Making light of someone with any disability is wrong. Many fanilies up and down the spectrum have had children who has any disability cannot help the way the child turns out to be. I’m proud of her for taking this one to task about this foolishness.

  • Dana

I watched the Family Guy episode in question, and the ultimate point of that episode was that the girl with Down’s Syndrome was pretty much just like everyone else. Where was Palin when Family Guy made fun of everyone else? Where was Palin when they did the song and dance about Joe being in a wheelchair and abandoned by God? Where was she during the episode in which Peter was diagnosed as mentally retarded? It seems to me the only reason she’s livid about this episode is because of the comment “…and my mom’s the former governor of Alaska.”

The thing Palin and her supporters seem to be forgetting is that Family Guy deliberately focuses on outrageous subjects like race, religion, politics, and disabilities in order to force us to think about them. Why DO we treat handicapped people differently? What IS the difference between a liberal and a conservative? Family Guy isn’t mocking people that are different–it’s mocking the stereotypes we as a society cling to, making us laugh at the stupidity of our own preconceived notions.

    • eyeswideopen

      Dana, well said.

      • Claire

This all goes back to: “It’s okay if I do it, but you can’t.”

    • http://www.cubasi_kastrono PETER MARTORI

Well your arguments leave room to joke too…or maybe Sarah Palin has in her family ,members who are all in those different cases you saw in the Family Guy , making fun of everyone else?
Like one … diagnosed as mentally retarded? Yoy ask :

The thing Palin and her supporters seem to be forgetting is that Family Guy deliberately focuses on outrageous subjects like race, religion, politics, and disabilities in order to force us to think about them. Why DO we treat handicapped people differently?
Well, why don’t this Family Guy, doesn’t pick on Obama’s birth certificate for once? Or the so many issues that might bring to lighten up perspicacity and awareness…to use your argument… on Nobma’s family ????

      • Phil

Peter, you can view President Obamas birth certificate online…. Also the newspaper birth announcment …. Pretty hard to forge the newspapers birth announcment… Unless you think 48 yearsago the newspaper knew that Obama was gonna run for president…and maybe you think the Fbi and Nsa were also in on the conspiracy… You do know he was vetted by the FBI and NCA…as are all candidates …only nutjobs are still insisting he’s not a natural born citizen ..google it if you can do it without help…

      • Blue

        Dear Phil,

It appears you are naïve to the fact that the document could be a forgery and not be 48 years old. Ever heard of that?

Anyway why don’t you click on the links below and learn something.

The following video was on YouTube last week. The life/history/background of Barrack HUSSEIN Obama. I emailed it to friends and asked them to watch it before it got removed.
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FlEbBZLzo0
It DID. It no longer exists as you can see.

Here is another one. In his own words… listen carefully to his slip.
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2o2fKbLJc8&feature=related
The interviewer corrects HIM, instead of asking him to explain what he meant.

Yet another one. Right from his own lips.
        http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/57states.asp
Maybe the Obama Jobs are in those 7 states.
Note: There are 57 Muslim (Islamic) states.

        Read this:
        http://www.renewamerica.com/columns/vernon/080526
        Get informed.

I’m sure that even if you DO click on those links and view them, you will still be calling everyone ELSE a liar. So in the videos, was BO telling the TRUTH or LYING?

      • Blue

Addition to the last line… OR is he STUPID?

      • eyeswideopen

Phil, it’s all a conspiracy!!!! They do think that the newspapers were in on it. It is too funny.

      • Joe H.

        Phil,
the only thing that was shown was a certificate of live birth. now I don’t know about you but I have a BIRTH CERTIFICATE on me, my wife, and all three of my children!!! And at the time of his birth laser printers weren’t in use!!! Just a thought!!

    • blackhat

Are you kidding me? Do you really think Seth MacFarlane “deliberately focuses on outrageous subjects like race, religion, politics, and disabilities in order to force us to think about them”? It is called humor…Family Guy is not a social outlet to make us all aware so we can get in touch with our feelings you moron. And, if there is an obvious reference to your family members issues, I suppose you would sit back and feel the “good vibes” that will now come from the raising of “important social issues” (said in a singsong voice.) And, eyes don’t even talk to me…

    • American Citizen

You missed the point, because she claimed the former governor of Alaska as her mother, it was a slam at Sarah Palin. That comment could have been left out. It was turned into a political moment, totally unnecessary.

  • Pat

I have a disability. It is time for people to realize that by not poking fun at us, you show your own lack of knowledge at just how set aside you make us feel in setting us apart to be “protected”. That is exactly what Sarah is doing to Trigg.

When is the last time a cartoon series acknowledged a person with a disability in any context? Family Guy actually included us as, not as if, visible human beings able to laugh and be laughed at just as the rest of you without disabilities. Please DO treat us normally. Quit whining for us you sniveling — and let us fight our own battles!

    • Jana

I don’t know what kind of ‘disability’ you have, but I have a niece that has severe disabilities and it embarrasses her when people even stare. She hardly leaves her house. She has a sharp mind, but her body and speech are slow so it appears to others that she is mentally slow also, although she is not.
I can tell you for sure she does not want or like to have “fun” poked at her, and none of the rest of us like it either. It isn’t funny!!!

    • American Citizen

Laughing at someone because of the disability is not the same as laughing at someone who trips over his own feet and falls on his tuckus. You should not want to be laughed at just because you are disabled. That is akin to a racial slur. It is not political correctness but an act of cruelty.

  • Bob D.

Family Guy’s attack was not on Sarah Palin. It was a direct attack on Trig. A young man, not in politics, with a disability. He does not deserve this and it was a tasteless and cowardly act to use the platform of Family Guy to do so. This is just wrong.
Sarah Palin is a mother 1st and a Politician 2nd. When Rush made the reference to this disability it was offensive and wrong but it wasn’t an attack on Trig. When Family Guy attacked her son she did what any responsible mother would do. What would you do?
None of this has anything to do with politics.

    • American Citizen

Any mother will tell you that if you attack any of her children, it’s like an attack on her. The writers of that program know this. Men love their children, yes, but it’s not the same as bearing them under your heart.

      • Joe H.

        American,
lease don,t try to tell me I don’t love my kids as much as my wife!! I was in there in the delivery room for a c-section and I held two of them before her. I have given my all for my kids and don’t regret a thing. I would most assuredly die for my kids and I have no doubt!!!!

      • libertytrain

Joe – I have to say, my husband would definitely agree with you on that one. Many men would.

  • JD Maples

Love Sarah Palin, have her book. Would vote for her. But I am starting to wonder about her as the press. Bush, and Obama are/were attacked by the media (both sides of it) Left and right, every other day. Anyone think she is up for that?

  • http://www.cubasi_kastrono PETER MARTORI

I AM OUTRAGED ON THIS ONE…IF WERE IN FRONT OF THAT GUY…\
    IN GOD WE TRUST !
How to catalogue ,classify, or define guys such like these who take on inocent, persons to get to anyone they do hate or detest or dislike or simply are afraid of….?
In my little book it says clear, and very loud : these are S.o.Bs A.. h.les and cowards !

Does anyone here REMEMBER , WHAT THE OTHER GUY…THE FAKEST of the FAKES ONE : NOBAMA,
said during the electoral period ???

DIDN’T HE SAID : THAT HIS FAMILY WAS OFF LIMITS…! ????

Now how comes this guy has the nerve to attack Sarah Palin thru an inocent member of her family in that cowardly ,sly , slimmy way ???
    This guy is a true A.. H.le !!!
Maybe all families in the whole continent who have the same situation and have a child with the Down syndrome, will take theis offensive and coward behaviour as an attack on them too.
And they may vote for Sarah Palin if she goes for the next elections as a candidate for the first Lady President of the USA ,just to make this guy rage and spite foam by his dirty mouth.
and… just in case anyone wishes to reply me…find me or argue on that insensitive “joke” that this coward made of a child with the Down syndrome…
My name is : Pedro Martori,in Montreal, Quebec. Canada..easy to find on the teleph book…
so I can personally reply to this dirty, coward attack on a decent, intelligent and capable american woman as Sarah Palin is !

    • Gerhard

Dear Peter, I agree with you totally. This left wing smear campaign is unending just like the many frivolous lawsuits against Sarah Palin, one should read the book ” Guilty “, by Ann Coulter. These are the same people who have no christian values, they will abort a helpless baby but protest to stop killing baby seals and other creatures. God bless, Gerhard. Oh, by the way, I lived in Hamilton, Ontario for 9 years.

      • http://www.cubasi_kastrono PETER MARTORI

Dear Gerhard, I can not be aware or informed on each of the topics or issues going on in the american Medias , so it is obvious I can’t reply to some of the questions hereby.I am a 100% for Sarah Palin, since the days she she was running as the Vice-presidential candidate. Though I am not an american citizen, I can foresee ,that the future of the Americas do not lie in the shoulders of fake americans as Obama but on the ones of those who love america, and moreover, for what America has stood up til now. Leftists all over this planet are just the same…lame, coward, resentful, and jealous and low life people. They can’t see honest, brave and straight forward perswons like Sarah of America Palin , get out there to fight with all her dignity and guts for what she believes is rightful and fair.
The more these people try their low blows on her, the better for Sarah .!
I am reading the book : “Going Rogue” , this is what these people should be reading instead of attacking blindly a person that
has shown so many qualities as a politician and achieved what many others didn’t in their careers as politicians.
Compared to Nobama…her C.V. is full of achievements and great ones on top of it. Trans-Alaskan Gas pipeline is one of them.
I am not aware or do not get all the news from the USA, so I am not currently informed about the issue “eyes” is asking me to reply over here.I mean the question by “eyes “:
Peter, what is your stance on Bob Marshall’s statement about disabled children being the punishment for an abortion?
I don’t even know who that guy Marshall is…
but the issue and the question on that topic was not put in a clear manner ,so I do not know what is his point on that.
One thing is clear and known all over this continent and it is the stand where Sarah palin stand on abortion!

And if these people were even slightly intelligent enough, they would try to stand on that issue with the ANTI-ABORTIONIST GROUPS.
I DO NOT WANT HERE TO START ANOTHER THREAD, BECAUSE THAT ISSUE IS FOR THE wESTERN WORLD A CRUCIAL ONE…TO HAVE MORE BABIES AND LESS ABORTIONS …OR BE OVERWHELMED BY THE NUMBERS OF TALIBANS…!
so right now it is not even a question of christianity…but of counter the numbers of the ones that wish to conquer and master the world…the fanatics of a pseudoreligion called islam…!
which is noting but a plaggio, a copy of the two religions that existed prior to year 650 A.D or 650 years later of the birth of Jesus Christ .These people don’t see that menace coming.
Neither that Nobama is a declared moslem…or that these people agenda is social-political movement that wishes to conquer the world by the bias of a pseudo-religion.

It’s nice to know that people who live in other countries can see what’s going on here in this country when the citizens of this country have their heads in the sand.

    • Claire

Peter–Maybe Sarah should have said her family was “off limits.”

      • eyeswideopen

Claire, maybe she shouldn’t have pulled them out of school and drug them around on the political trail for three months exposing them to the hard ugly world of politics. She used her family, putting them on stage at every opportunity, even risking her babies hearing from flying too much. She is selfish.

  • Arkham Grundy

I am hardly a fan of Sarah Palin, but making people with down syndrome the brunt of jokes is as tasteless as a rubber crutch in a polio ward.

However Ms. Palin, herself, seems to have no qualms about making groundless vituperous remarks about others that are unsupported by facts. She proudly displays her lack of grasp of issues and smugly hides this behind artificial rhetoric of quasi patriotism. She is the kind of person that makes independents question the cerebral capacity of conservatives.

We need thoughtful, genuinely intelligent conservative spokespeople who can inspire with clear thinking and clear speech rather than shallow tabloid personalities.

    • http://www.cubasi_kastrono PETER MARTORI

      Oh ! please, c’mon !
There is an astronomical difference between remarks like these made about grown ,old folks and a kid…specially if the remarks or the jokes are to offend indirectly , to diminish or to insult some one else than the object of the “joke” : the kid on this issue.
You can make jokes on older folks and direct them to the person you wish..but to use another person to get to some other ,in this case a mother…is an act of hypocresy and shows little compasion for a sick human being.

      • eyeswideopen

Peter, what is your stance on Bob Marshall’s statement about disabled children being the punishment for an abortion?

      • Jana

eyes, my stance of that stupid remark is right there with yours. It is despicable to joke or talk like that at all. It is not the child’s fault in having any type of disability and all of this should be off limits. In fact to most decent human beings it is. We take care of our young and we take care of our mentally or physically handicapped. I know that isn’t politically correct, but it is still a fact.

      • DaveH

        Eyes,
What is your stance on the starvation of millions of people in the Ukraine as a result of the Socialist policies instituted by Joseph Stalin?

Michael – your spelling is interesting.

      • Norm

        DaveH
What’s that got to do with anything?

      • eyeswideopen

DaveH, listen buddy, after you have taken care of a child with disabilities come talk to me. My sister never had an abortion and her second child also has DS. But, good does come from stupid statements, as my sister is now changing parties as she can’t deal with the radical, stupid anti-abortion platform of the Repubs, and Sarah really let her down, by not making any comment.
WHAT DOES YOUR RAMBLING HAVE TO DO WITH SARAH PALIN? Dave, I don’t like to see anybody suffer, even you. I am a Christian.

      • DaveH

You’re a Christian Eyes? Maybe a Harpy Christian. Your solution is?

      • Joe H.

        eyesgluedshut,
I have raised a handicapped child from birth 27 years ago to the present and I would still not support your liberal point of view!!!Perhaps you should give your sister a break of say two months and YOU raise her child for her those two months! maybe then you would have a better view of what you speak of!!

      • eyeswideopen

DaveH, my solution to what, the worlds problems? I thought you had all the answers, “GOVERNMENT IS FORCE” is your answer to everything.

      • eyeswideopen

Joe H, what liberal point of view, that I expect Sarah, to come out and raise hell with an idiot who thinks that disabled children are punishment for a womens actions?

      • http://Don'thaveone Sally

Eye, that was a stupid statement. Evidentally you and the one that made the remark have no idea than a man in the moon what causes Down Syndrom. It usually happens with mothers that are very very young or are old. There is an extra gene that is thrown into the mix. Usually on the older women, they try to determine if the child is that way before it is borne so that it can be aborted. I think that she didn’t speaks volumns about Sarah Palin.

      • eyeswideopen

Sally, don’t go there with me, my niece has DS. I asked why Sarah, hadn’t made any comment. I didn’t defame her child. Our family views our niece as a gift, not a punishment for some action.

      • DaveH

        Eyes,
If you want respect for your freedom and your choices, you need to give others that same respect. I don’t see that in your comments. What is your solution?

      • Joe H.

        eyes,
no you didn’t make a statement, but you are blowing off the statement that Rham made by bringing up another and two wrongs don’t make a right!! You also support Abnormal making a statement like forget it it’s just politics or to that idea! Oh lest I forget his other ignorant rant, can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen!!!

      • eyeswideopen

JOe, Sally, Dave, are you all just a bunch of nut cases? Do you not understand that I have a family member who is disabled? Of course I don’t like anyone making fun of them. What is funny to one, is not funny to all. Comedy is entertainment, I can turn it off, it won’t affect my life. Politics and what elected officals spew is another more offending situation. I still ask all of you Sarah lovers, where is she on the stupid statement made about abortions and disabled children being the punishment? NO WHERE TO BE FOUND. She speaks out only when it is to her benefit, hypocrites are like that.

      • Yandle

MANASSAS, Va. – Delegate Bob Marshall will refer to scripture when explaining his anti-abortion beliefs. But the longtime Virginia lawmaker says he wants to set the record straight about a published report claiming he said God punishes some women who’ve had abortions by inflicting their subsequent children with disabilities.

“Wrong. Never happened. I don’t believe that,” Marshall told Fox 5 News in an exclusive interview in his hometown of Manassas Tuesday night.

      • Yandle

        eyeswideopen?
You “which have eyes, and see not”, the anti-abortion platform (against murdering babies) is following the teaching of Christ not the Republicans but when the Republicans are “anti-abortion” they are following the teaching of Christ. A Christian is a follower of Christ and you state you are a Christian, LOOK at all of your comments. Christ said “Ye cannot serve God and mammon” and “He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad” and He teaches “He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him” “If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth” “They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate” “Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils”.”Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?”

For your information I read all the comments here and many, many of your comments in other posts. If your way of thinking (if it can be called thinking) was the rule for anything, there would be mass suffering. You stated above (February 23, 2010 at 7:01 pm) “I don’t like to see anybody suffer, even you. I am a Christian”. None of your comments anywhere resembles Christian principles. All suffering is due to SIN, but all that are suffering may not have committed the sin.

      • Phil

Lynn, once more,,, you don’t know what you’re talking about… It was Rahm Emanuel… Not Harry Reid…. And the next day after Rahm used the term for some democrats Rush Limbaugh used the term over a dozen times on his radio show… You really are confused…

        eyeswideopen ,

So what did you expect from a woman who has so much love and guts at the same time ? Abortion ?
At the time she was fighting for her people in the State of Alaska
as a governor, raising a bunch of kid at the same time, under pressure on many fronts, and working to put order and defend the alaskans patrimony resources, she had become pregnant of this kid who happened to be striken with the Down Syndrome. Also attending conferences and meetings all over the States. Howeve, this woman that some in here treated as a person without braveness, went over all those pressures ,stresses and had that baby , sticking by her principles and love ! Love of God, and faith in God !
And Principles are the things that must matter the most in Politics if we really care for the country state of affairs,

      • michael

HEY you did not answer the question posed by eyeswideopen.

      • libertytrain

I believe he did, in a different post.

      • eyeswideopen

Peter, I expect her to come out and raise hell with Bob Marshall’s stupid statement that disable children are born to mothers as a punishment. That’s what I expect. Not as an Independent, Republican or Democrat, as a women, I expect her to stand up to such insane, morally reprehensable statements. To suggest that children with disablities are a punishment is outrageous. To suggest that if you have one, you must be guilty of getting an abortion is stupid. If she can flap her mouth about everything else, she sure as heck should stand up on this one.

      • American Citizen

        Who’s Bob Marshall?

    • Harold Olsen

Palin did not call it a racial issue. What she said was that it was similar to making a racist comment.

      • Phil

        Harold….Do you know what a ” Racial Slur” means…..

      • Phil

Harold; Maybe you should read the artical again…. Her words were” it amounted to a racial slur”… Unquote …. I understand your confused..

      • Joe H.

Earth to Phil!!! Amounted to and is or are equall two different things!!! She did not say it was the same thing as just that it amounted to wich it carries the same amount of hurt, if you can’t understand that then you are dead from the shoulders up!!!!

    • Bill

Don’t believe she used her son as a political prop, she just wanted her family by her side as do all politicans when on-stage. For anyone to attack a persons family or one of their family members is nothing more than a display of a coward. No, I am not a Republican or Democrat. I am not a conservative or liberal. I am not left wing or right wing. I am an American that believe’s in America and our way of life. I believe in the free market system as layed out by our Founding Fathers. I believe in the The United States Constitution and Our Flag and spent over half my life defending all of it. For anyone to attack a family like this clown did is a display of a coward.

  • jomama

If you don’t like it – don’t watch it. Simple as that.

je, je, not only I don’t watch it, ..I just don’t like the cowardice of A.H. who take on little or innon=cent persons…

And that is the issue here…COWARDICE, LOW LIFE ,PETTINESS.!

    • Claire

jomama–Yes, it is as simple as that. And I won’t watch it. However, this tells me what type of person you are.

  • jomama

To everyone who is offended by Seth McFarlane’s ‘Family Guy’ episode of poking fun at ‘Down Syndrome Girl’:

Nobody is exempt to the craziness & slander of this show!! It’s just a cartoon!! Lighten up!! You’d think someone tried to sell him to the black market or something. Geez – get a grip.

    • J C

So let me get this straight…”Down’s Syndrome” is “funny” according to you?

      • Joe H.

        JC,
I wou;ld love jomamma to come take care of my son for a week and then tell me how funny handicapped kids are! Or even easier go volunteer at his local MRDD school as they are all over the states! Jomamma, please go volunteer for just one week, see if you have the guts to last just that long and then tell me how you feel!

    • Harold Olsen

Yes, it’s a cartoon and like most cartoon shows these day it is not one bit funny or even slightly amusing. I’ve tried watching it a few times and have yet to laugh at a single thing in it. Mostly, I am just disgusted by it. The fan base of shows like this must really be of extremely low intellect. I’m not surprised that this show is on the Fox broadcast channel, though. They have the most disgusting shows on TV. I can’t think of a single one of their shows that I like or even watch, though I’ve tried watching some. They make me want to puke.

      • independant thinker

I tried to watch the program and found it so offensive as well as stupid I have not watched it since and have no intention of doing so.

    • Claire

jomama—I have never watched this show since I refuse to waste my time watching ignorance. To you it may be entertainment but I don’t get my laughs at the expense of disabled people, or others less fortunate. A person never knows how it feels until, or unless a disability befalls them or a member of their family. I have respect for the human race.

  • Norm

If you can’t take the heat, stay out of the kitchen. Politics is a dirty game, and Sarah is very much a part of it. Oddly she seemed to ignore Rush’s retard remarks.

    • http://www.cubasi_kastrono PETER MARTORI

This is not about taking the “heat” pal…
this is about a low, coward and unsensitive way to attack
a person, by the bias of of an innocent memeber of the family
who is not a candidate, and would not be in the campaign in 2012,if that is what you guys are afraid of.
Sarah palin has more guts than what you can even think of.
But one thing is to stand to frontal and face to face coward attackers and another is to be attacked from a treacherous flank as is the case here.
Who is the coward here , Sarah Palin or the miserable guy who uses her a parody where a human being is targeted to offend another human being who happens to be the mother of a child with that Syndrome ?

Would that same guy do a joke like that in front of the father of the child ?I am quite sure that he does not have that kind of guts.

And this is the issue here….not the fear to take the heat ,but to face an attacker of her privacy in an irrelevant point and because the plain cowardice of using an innoncent with a handicap to attack a person you don’t like or who you might be afraid of.

Is that an argument , a political one or just plain unfari and slimmy cowardice ?
      Peter Martori

        Michael & Phil,

“Family Guy” is created by Seth McFarlane, a very “left-wing” disgusting goon. All of the Fox News people were appalled by & opposed his tasteless topic for this show & most of what he does.

Fox News has absolutely nothing to do with the programming on that Fox channel.

And Norm…that’s it. You Sir are the most unbelievably low and ignorant form of reptile there is walking on two feet. I can only wish you a seriously debilitating surprise from your proctologist.

      • s c

J C, it goes deeper than that. The central issue is the utter willingess of a TV program to take part in an attempt to LEGITIMIZE an unconscionable act. Speaking of wacko ultraliberal progressives who tend to be without a conscience [but constantly pretend to rush to the aid of a constant stream of 'victims'], it is one thing to be born retarded. It is something else to go out of one’s way to ACT retarded [a very accurate way to define most politicians AND ultraliberal progressives].
What these two-legged vermin REFUSE to admit is that if a conservative or a conservative-leaning TV program did what Family Guy did, the lamestream, prositute media kookoids would be all over it like flies on stink. You know it. I know it. Every conservative knows it, but certifiable ultraliberal progressives will deny it to their dying day.

Norm… I thought all Dems were politically correct? How would you feel if it were your son and family that were being attacked? Barry has made it clear that his children are off limits, but Sarah’s are fair game? Any one who would slur a toddler with Down Syndrome is a loser. It’s falls right in line with men who beat up women and kids!

Let’s face it – it’s not about *what* is said, as far as liberals are concerned – it’s about *who* it’s directed towards.
Furthermore, when it comes to Democrat’s family & friends, they’re off limits. But the republicans don’t get the same respect. Why IS that?
Liberals/Democrats/left-wingers are the worst hypocrites this world has ever seen!

    • Faithbeliever

Shame on you Norm. Just remember you may one day have to defend one of your family members because of something someone has said about them. Then we’ll see what your response is. Her son has done nothing wrong to anyone. All I can say is, what you give out you get back three-fold.
