White House Mocks Palin's 'Hand Notes'

February 12, 2010 by

White House mocks Palin's 'hand notes'On Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs threw a sarcastic jab at Sarah Palin, mocking the former Alaska governor for looking down at talking points written on her left hand during her keynote speech at the National Tea Party Convention last week.

During her address in Nashville Feb. 6, photographers caught Palin looking down at her hand, where she had written the words "energy", "budget," "tax" and "lift American spirits." Later in her talk to fellow conservatives, the former vice presidential candidate ridiculed President Obama for his consistent use of teleprompters throughout his first year in office.

A few days later, while answering questions from reporters regarding healthcare reform, the White House press secretary turned his ink-stained hand toward the cameras while he derided Palin.

"Oh, I wrote a few things down," said Gibbs, looking at palm. "I wrote eggs, milk and bread… then I wrote down hope and change just in case I forgot them."

When asked about the content of Palin’s speech, Gibbs noted that the convention appeared to be "a pretty successful private enterprise," a possible reference to fees charged to attendees who came to hear her speak, according to The New York Times.

“During her address in Nashville Feb. 6, photographers caught Palin looking down at her hand, where she had written the words ‘energy’, ‘budget,’ ‘tax’ and ‘lift American spirits.’ ” I wonder what the “Free Thinkers” in the “Progressive Party” would do if she just had the above mentioned words tattooed on her breasts and gave her speeches topless? After all, they’re of the ilk who pose nude for animal rights causes; burned their bras in the ’60′s; complained mightily about the lack of “gender equality”, et cetera.

  • Chiefatk

I wonder what the cost difference is between all that goes into using a teleprompter verses writing notes on your hand?

  • http://Verizon.net Joe Dunst

I’m begining to believe the suggestion a friend made years ago, i.e.,
“…in order to vote you must pass an IQ Test.”

    • Dale

And produce your college records for all to see . . . as proof you have an IQ . . .

      • eyeswideopen

Dale, many on this site have no college education, are you eliminating them also? You stated and produce your college records to show proof of IQ.

      • Stephaan

Yep, a BIRTH CERTIFICATE would be nice too!! You know, the REAL one. Not the short form piece of crap that obummer posts on his site, but the long form B.C. complete with ALL the pertinent info. Drs. signature etc.
I couldn’t even get a drivers license in my state with the short form piece of(word removed)that obummer shows us.

    • coal miner

      Joe Dunst,

No one can flunk a IQ test. You can have a IQ of 1 or IQ of 230.That is measurement of intelligence,in order to flunk a IQ test you have to be brain dead. What you are talking about is a literacy test. This would keep minorities from voting and exercising their rights.Bad form.I suggest you talk to your friend. I would tell him man he is out to lunch.

      • coal miner

        Joe Dunst,

I meant to say, man, you are out to lunch.

      • JeffH

Old king coal miner. Thanks for that explanation. It is obvious you had your “alphabet soup” for lunch.

      • JeffH

Forgot to note that your soup had a bunch of extra “a’s” in it.

      • Joe H.

        JeffH,
        A few extra holes, too!!!!

And watch John Stossel on Fox Business News.

      • Claire

DaveH–I do watch the Fox Business News channel from time to time. I will look for John Stossel.

  • Robert

Who cares what Gibbs says? He’s a rude, egotistical, power hungry lackie. Here’s a guy who if born back in the 40′s or 50′s would have been your typical draft dodger. He’s gutless and an outright liar. A disgrace to the human race. Other than that, I wouldn’t say he’s a racist.

    • momof4

And he’s fat, Maybe Michelle Obama should start watching his BMI.

      • Michael J.

        Momof4,
Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha, Woooo, Weeeee, Thanx, I needed that!

  • jim

Maybe the leftists are mad because she wrote her notes on her LEFT hand and not on the RIGHT. If she is right handed that is the hand she would hold the pen in. I keep reading about how Obama needs a teleprompter and how Bush wasn’t a good orator, how Palin wrote on her hand. It’s all irelivant. Listen to WHAT is being said and not to how well it is being delivered.

  • s c

Obviously, Gibbs is a prime example of a brown-nosing, suck-up, lamestream media prostitute who graduated summa cum puke from the Al Franken Graduate School of Media Comedy. A kid in high school journalism can do better than Gibbs.
Remember, folks. A white House Press Secretary is supposed to be the “best” that a political party can offer. Once again, we have classic proof as to how some people define ‘best.’
Gibbs should be a door-greeter at Wal Mart. At least he’d be earning a more realistic salary, and we would no longer see an overpaid, giggling buffoon on TV. He couldn’t make it in stand-up comedy. And he’s a true LOSER in the media world. Those ultraliberal progressives sure can pick ‘em.

    • Tim

You mentioned Al Franken. You are probably too dumb to know this, but this man was elected to the U.S. Senate. He had a book that I would recommend to all you rightwing nuts. The name of the book is “Liars, and the lying liars who tell them.” It is one of the best books I ever read. He features some of the biggest liars in the media circuit, namely Flush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly, and Ant Coulter.

      • jim

Tim, Look who’s picture is on the front of that book, The biggest liar of them all.

      • momof4

Al Frankenstine is a joke. He was never funny just dumb.

      • DaveH

Why would we bother reading any book written by a Liberal? If we want wild unsupported accusations and name-calling all we have to do is read your childish comments.

      • michael

I thought for proven lies and false accusations you right wing nuts went to fox news and are stupid enough to believe their crap. Their lies have been proven time and time again polls that equal 150% faked video the list is endless.

      • Michael J.

        Michael,
Where’s your proof? Put up or shut up!

      • Jana

        michael
        In your dreams.

      • Joe H.

        HEY Michael,
It’s on you man, show me the proof!!!! Show me the site!!! Show me proof you have brains!!!

      • Norm

        DaveH
When you only look at only one side of an argument, it’s impossible to get the truth or even an objective viewpoint. I guess “LIBERTARIANS” sure look like extremeist right wingers.

      • eyeswideopen

Norm, was wondering why he seems to be trying to denegrate the Dem’s, and is sucking up to the Indepenents/Republicans sometimes throwing personal liberties under the bus. Isn’t he supposed to be for equality and liberty for all?

  • Todd from Ohio

I like Sarah; the Palin family looks like they would be great to have as friends, great fun to be around. However, two inexperienced presidents in a row would be absolutely devastating to this country. I feel people are being too quick to sweep Sarah into office for the same reasons Barack was swept into office… hatred for the other side. People PLEASE, can we just vote one time without our emotions interfering? Sarah needs about 5-10 more years as Governor, Senator or State Rep before she’s ready for a greater role. Surely there are other conservative hopefuls that are far more qualified than Barack or Sarah. And don’t give me Huckabee; I don’t trust preachers. And I don’t care for Giuliani; the 911 hero thing was just a façade he tried to use to resurrect his political career after loosing the NY city mayoral race and catapult himself into the Whitehouse.

    • libertytrain

Todd from Ohio – just a correction on Giuliani – he was not defeated as Mayor in 2001 – he was not able to run again because of term limits.

      • Todd from Ohio

Libertytrain – I stand corrected he didn’t loose in 2001 he lost in 1996 when the referendum to overturn term limits was defeated. It’s the same as being voted out of office….

      • libertytrain

Yep, I guess it is in a way.

    • DaveH

Our problems have been created by “experienced” politicians. What we need is someone “inexperienced” enough to demand less government, quit buying votes, and quit taking favors from Lobbyists.

      • Jana

        DaveH, And a big ditto.

      • Bikerhoop

Actually, we need fewer ‘politicians’, whether experienced or not. Having career politicians is one of the major problems. They are so out of touch with their constituents they have no idea why they were even elected. Arrogance is rampant. We need ‘regular folks’ who respect the Constitution and will do as their oath says and uphold it rather than do everything they can to destroy and/or circumvent it.

      • DaveH

        I agree.

      • Jana

        Bikerhoop,
We also need those that are willing to stop accepting pay raises when the country is in financial straits.

      • Joe H.

        Jana,
We need to tie their pay to the economy!! When the economy tanks so does their pay! I guarantee they won’t pass spending bills left and right then!!!!

      • Harold Olsen

Actually, what we need are statesmen.

I collect old time radio shows as a hobby–you know theatre of the mind. In one of my “Fibber McGee and Molly” episodes, Mayor LaTrivia (played by actor Gale Gordon) gave a great definition of the difference between a politician and a statesman:

“A politician is someone who tries to get whatever he can for himself. A statesman is someone who tries to get whatever he can for his country.”

I believe that in this day and age true statesmen are extinct.

      • DaveH

        Harold,
“Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows!”
If only there was such a guy. In reality, I suspect many of them really think they are doing best for the country. I wouldn’t doubt that even Hitler thought he was doing best for his country.
As is said “the road to hell is paved with good intentions”.
That’s why our forefathers did their best to protect us from oversized government, but following generations have dropped the ball.

      • Claire

Harold Olson– I agree with you. No such thing as an honest politician.

      • momof4

Harold, So true, what we need are virtuous leaders who love country more then self. I think they are hard to come buy.

    • Meteorlady

Yeah – and then we get another “seasoned” political candidate. One that has bowed down to the elite money guys and takes their orders from them. Sarah is scary because she has not been involved in the game and she has a following. I think we need common ordinary people to serve because they could take it to the public when something wasn’t going right. They could expose corruption and lobby for all the things people here say they want. It’s a win win to have someone like that. The congress control our laws and programs, not the President.

  • http://bravefoot@gmail.com jan from NJ

Who cares if Sarah uses her hands and Obama uses a teleprompter? What are we a bunch of whiny middle schoolers? At lease Prez Obama is articulate and Sarah is good entertainment!

    • Jana

jan, sure he is articulate–ah uh er uh uh uh. We know he knows those uh words.

      • momof4

        Jana,
Lol Good one. I am so sick of hearing about what a great speaker he is.
All he does is look from one telepropter to anouther he never even looks at the camera. I guess it”s heard to look at the American people
when you lying to them all the time.

    • Conservative Carl

And Obama sure knows how to pronounce Marine Corpse.

      • Joe H.

        Carl,
        and Massatusets!!!!

      • Harold Olsen

And don’t forget corpse-man!!! Such an articulate leaders!!

    • Meteorlady

You might want to rephrase that – “At least President Obama’s speech writers are articulate”.

  • http://memphisbargainbicycles.com Lewis Edinger

If you support Palin, go to sarahpalinpac.com and send her 25 bucks. Money talks, huge numbers of small donations elected Obama. A bankroll will get her respect from the RNC. Show your support with a small donation.

  • Del Abbey

So she has a few notes you idiot, can you give a speech without any, I doubt it. What about your great black hope who has to have his teleprompters and speechwriters, all far left of course. like the rest of his criminal, socialistic administration.

  • http://yahoo.com bargal

I wonder Just how many city councils and states you gentlemen have been elected to as you sit in judgement of a Lady that has proven to be successful in both positions? Man up you idiots and run with your own crowd which is evidently those who swill beer at the local tavern and go home to kiss the dog and kick the wife.

    • MARGE

THE ONLY THING SHE HAS BEEN SUCESSFULL AT IS QUITING HER JOBS, NOT PAYING TAXES ON PROPERTY, KILLING WOLVES, NOT KNOWING THAT AFRICA IS A CONTINENT, CAN’T NAME ANY NEWSPAPERS SHE READS AND HAVING A GOOD GHOST WRITER FOR HER BOOK.

      • Ron

And during Obamas campain for prez, he gleefully said, he had campained in 56 states, an had only a few more to go….Geography one of his strong points??

      • Joe H.

        Ron,
I hate to correct you but it was 57!!!

      • Blue

        Joe H.
You are right about the 57 states but the truth to that is that there are……. 57 Islamic (Muslim) States. The truth being is that Barack Hussain Obama is Muslim. In the following clip he freely admits his “Religion” but is corrected by the interviewer and is told that he is Christian.

        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKGdkqfBICw

      • Palin12
      • blackhat

        There goes marge…yelling again!

      • JeffH

Probably best to ignore all that use caps exclusivly.

      • Claire

Marge: Sarah isn’t the only person that has had the help of an editor. I would guess the majority of the books written by politicians and media people that are out there right now have “ghost writers.”

      • Meteorlady

Hello Marge – if you know Alaska law it is up to the taxing agency to locate and tax. Her taxes were paid for the previous year (some $900 or so) and that was all she owed on her TAX BILL. You can yell all you want, but you must at least give us some facts that are true before you do that. The lady has more balls that most all the members of congress and took on Exxon and won twice. You need to read up on Sarah before yelling and hollering. While I don’t believe she is the right choice for president right now, she is a good down to earth person. And yes, I will concede that she did quit.

      • Jana

        Meteorlady,
And she quit for a good reason. The socialists that were against her that lived in her own state were filing frivolous lawsuits against her as Governor, and it was costing the State of Alaska too much money and she felt she should step down to stop this financial drain.

Of course there are still those who find it unconscionable and would use anything to say something bad about her. Personally,I think she was doing what was best for her state at that time.

      • Joe H.

        Jana,
In the future please add that she was found innocent on all counts except one mis-demeanor!!!

      • Jana

        Joe, Good point.

  • aviatrix

Nobody said a peep when Obama gave a speech the other day and mispronounced the word “corp” (to include the letter “p”) not once, but three times, as he read every little word on his teleprompter! And they continually insinuate that Sarah Palin is stupid? It’s getting old. They’re running out of insults . . . and time.

    • http://myronjpoltroonian.blogspot.com Myron J. Poltroonian

Aviatrix (Fly-girl?): Sorry to sound “picky – picky – picky” (a.k.a. Pat Paulson), however, it’s spelt “Corps”, but pronounced “Core”.

      • libertytrain

Myron – I believe that’s what she was implying? She’s saying no one complained that he couldn’t pronounce it correctly —

      • Conservative Carl

It was Obama who pronounced the word “corp” – as in Marine Corp – as “corpse”. Not the first time Mr. Obama has mispronounced words in public. How strange it is that those who so strongly defend Obama despite his speaking errors can viciously attack Sarah Palin’s use of notes on her hand and portray her as dumb. BTW, she once said she could see Russia from an island off the Alaskan coast, not from her house. I believe Tina Fey used the expression “house” in her act.

    • Jana

aviatrix, you are so right. But, there has always been a double standard when it comes to anything Democratic vs Republicans. The party of so called liberalism which is not truly what they stand for, read the definition:
Liberalism (from the Latin liberalis, “of freedom”[1]) is the belief in the importance of individual liberty. This belief is widely accepted today throughout the world, and was recognized as an important value by many philosophers throughout history. The Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius praised “the idea of a polity administered with regard to equal rights and equal freedom of speech, and the idea of a kingly government which respects most of all the freedom of the governed”.
According to them they are the only ones who have the freedom to say what they want, and they try to enforce everyone else to say what they want also. They have distorted Liberalism into something quite disgusting.

      • DaveH

We now call that Classical Liberalism, Jana. The term Liberal, is now commonly used to identify those who believe Big Government is the solution to our problems. There are many Republicans that fit this definition as well as most Democrats.

      • Jana

Dave, How right you are! We need to vote out all liberals whether Republican or Democrat.

      • Tim

Actually we need to throw all the rightwingers out of office. This makes up an upwards of 90% of Repukes. The more liberal and moderates we have, the better.

      • Joe H.

        Tim,
you have just shown your ignorance again, but I’ll let you figure it out rather than imbarass you!!!!!

      • Meteorlady

The people here that are referred to as Liberals are socialist even a couple of crazy marxists join now and then. Just that socialist & marxist has a bad connotation so the leopard tries to change it’s spots.

    • Michael J.

So Obama and Gibbs are sitting side by side at the bar after a wearisome long day of conniving and conjuring at the White House. Gibbs who has already had one too many is resting his head on the bar with drool making a considerable puddle on the bar top while Obama rambles on about his new efforts in word meaning and pronunciation says to Gibbs,”Did you know that sugar is the only word in the English language that’s pronounced sh, but spelled su?”. Then Obama looks towards Gibbs for a reply. Then Gibbs whose job it is to humor the faux POTUS even while inebriated slowly lifts his head and looks at him in a cross eyed stupor and says, “sure”.

      • Stephaan

LMAO MJ…Here’s one you might not have heard.

Obama and his socialists buddies, drive into a lumberyard one day.
They get out and walk into the office and Obama says,
        “We need some four-by-twos.”

“You mean two-by-fours, don’t you?” asked the clerk.
Obama replies, “Um, um, um, I’ll have to check, and so they all huddle up, and start mumbling and whispering, and within a few
minutes Obama tells the clerk, “Yes, we need two-by-fours.”

“Alright,” replied the clerk. “How long do you need them?”
They all stand there for a moment with dumb looks on their faces, and they go back into the huddle for a couple more minutes, more whispering and mumbling and finally Obama replies, Um, we’ll need them a long time. We’re gonna build a house.”

  • Norm
    • JeffH

Norm, didn’t take you long to say something stupid, again.

      • Norm

        JeffH
        I was being kind.
With a 71%(and falling) disaproval record, dog warden is a pretty good job. Of course she would probably quit that too. She could write her resignation notes on her palms, so she wouldn’t get confused.

You got soal.Hanging around that Satan bunch is getting to you.Who in the hell talk you into getting involve with that group of weirdies? You don’t see me doing something like that.Look what they did to poor old CR747.He thinks he owns Hawaii. They curse him with that horrible goddess of ignorance.I warn you about these people.Pay attention next time.

      • JeffH

old king coal miner, for someone that is as illiterate as you and have spent a good portion of your life in darkness, you really should heed your own words. You continually use your 3rd grade grammar, but accuse the rest of us for our little mistakes. When you get your GED, come back and correct me. Until then, your brother, I mean husband is calling you to bed, and out down yur banjo. Thuggee!

      • cr747

coal miner PARDNER:: you don’t have to worry about cr747, I will make it fine. Seems as though all you want to do is run everybody down. What kind of life is that? Talking about Hawaii, Hawaii happens to be my home, and in about 1 hour and 45 mins. will be landing this big bird, and then headed to the house. Shame your jealous of someone doing good in their life.
JeffH has got more good friends on here than you could ever think about having. Talk about spelling,,how far did you make it in school?? Third maybe fourth grade? That long bar on the bottom of your typing board is the space bar, just hit it once between words, that’s all you have to do.. More lessons coming later, just keep watching. Some one on here will help you learn!!!!!!!!!!!! Then you want have to be ashamed to comment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • michael

Thank god Palin isn’t president. I mean she’s cute but is as dumb as a bag of rocks.

      • michael

I wish her and the tea-baggers would move to russia.

      • Palin12

Actually, you can see Russia from Alaska. Se the enclosed article and photo. The Diomede Islands are exactly what Sarah was referring to, not the joke that Tina Fey told.

        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Diomede_Islands_Bering_Sea_Jul_2006.jpg

      • JeffH

Palin12, I wish you hadn’t told them. It’s funny to watch them spew ignorance.

      • Joe H.

        Marge,
that’s ok you can’t see the end of that sharp mother in law type tongue you have and it’s a lot longer than what Sarah has to look to see Russia!!!!

      • AnhydrousBob

What exactly would she be resigning from?

    • DaveH

No man is fit to micromanage so much of our lives. And Obama is no exception. And yet you Liberals want an even greater intrusion of Government into our daily lives.
OPM is a very powerful drug, isn’t it? Maybe, you should seek some rehab Norm.

    • Joe H.

      • Meteorlady

Hear hear……. the ranting is crazy. We get your point which is what?

      • Joe H.

        Meteorlady,
you have to excuse Marge, she is obviously 90 years old and deaf. She thinks she has to yell to be heard!!!

      • Harold Olsen

I wish the people who run this forum would just delete all the messages by these idiots who can’t type without keeping the caps lock key on. I refuse to read those messages. They’re usually not worth the time anyway.

Harold, you are right it is annoying, but remember some folks said they do it cause they have bad eyesight – can’t read the letters unless they are capped. I have a huge monitor, but when I work on a laptop, I can barely read what I type so am trying to be tolerant.

Admit it that the only reason you’re complaining about the cap lock key, is because Marge isn’t a rightwing nut like you. If one of your kind used the cap lock key, you would sit there like a bump on the log. Marge, like myself, is one of the smartest people in this blog. You rightwingers are all a bunch of losers! You all parrot the same kind of garbage that you hear on Bill O’Reilly’s “O’Garbage Factor.” You get all your rightwing garbage from Fox Noise.

      • JeffH

Tiny Tim. It is evident that you spend most of your time locked up with Polly, your soul mate. Polly want a cracker?

      • DaveH

I love it. Tim is showing the rest of us how truly mentally bankrupt Liberals are. They can’t carry on a decent discussion without launching myriad personal attacks.
Save your Saul Alinsky tactics for your ignorant fellow Liberals, Tim. They don’t work on us.

      • Jana

Sure Marge, just like we have seen that Obama doesn’t have the brains to read his teleprompter or run the country. Well, he is running the country, into the ground.

At least we can write without shouting. Excuse me as typical, your lack of manners is showing.

      • MARGE

Yes, Myron your ancesters came here for a better life and turned around and took us (AMERICAN INDIANS) stole our land, killed and raped our women and children, stuck us on rez’s, killed all bison and just about anything else that could be sold for money. Take time to see what the people of Pine Ridge rez in South Dakota live like.
How easy you forget. After what Bush/Cheney did to this country we Americans wanted a change and we have one. It took Bush 8 years to F—k up this country how can you expect Obama to fix it in 1 yr.

      • DaveH

Marge, the natives were killing each other before White Man arrived.
I have met many Native Americans and all have been very nice people so far. You are an exception. Please don’t give a bad name to Native Americans.

      • AnhydrousBob

A person can’t fix what he doesn’t understand.

      • Claire

DaveH–Remember my post a day or so ago? If you have time, look up the “Trail of Tears.” One of many instances that happened way back when.

      • Meteorlady

OK Marge just explained to us what’s up. She and Indian with a chip on her shoulder. She brings up the past – things that happened before her mother was born. She wails about everything and nothing. She is stuck in her socialism rut and can’t get out because she took the government bribe and now can’t take care of herself. We have to do that for her by going to work everyday and earning enough money to pay our taxes and give them to her and other like her.

Do a search on “social programs for American Indians”. You will find many programs for education and college. Did you choose to take advantage of any of those. Did you choose to get a good job after you were educated? Sound like a bit NO to me.

If you are taking the money I earned through my own hard work and education, then you have no right to insult me.

      • Tim

Marge, I agree with you that the white man mistreated the American Indians, especially the English. This was deplorable! This same type of racism is being leveled against Obama. He is being unjustly demonized, and all he has tried to do is correct the mess that Bush an his cronies left this country in.

All of these idiots in here, who are attacking you, just don’t get it. They are all a bunch of rightwing nuts. You can’t reason withs them. We smart people got to stick together in this blog, because we are far outnumbered. Maybe we can enlighten one or two of these rightwing nuts.

      • momof4

        Marge,
        I think you need counseling.

      • jim

Marge, Whats this have to do with reading notes writen on your hand during a speach?

      • Joe H.

        Tim & Marge,
I could care less if Obummer is part black, he’spart white too!! He is part of the white that did what you complain did that to your and my ancestors, yes I have Cherokee and Blackfoot(or Iriquoi for both) in my blood. you may want to check into the habits of the Blackfoot people, they were one of the most murderous tribes of the native Americans!!!

      • Claire

Marge—I will agree with you on something–the slaughter of wolves from helicopters was deplorable. But some people get a real “thrill” out of killing defenseless animals for the fun of it. I guess it makes them feel real “cool” or something. If a person needs food for the table–deer–then I don’t have a problem with this but I have a big problem with sport killing.

      • DaveH

        Claire,
I quit hunting 35 years ago after seeing a very graphic movie “The Hunting Party” in which humans were doing to other humans what I used to do to animals. However, that is a very personal choice, and I do not advocate imposing my choices on other people.
I have always had a hard time mustering sympathy for animals that tear other animals apart while alive. I don’t care that it is their means of survival. It is just life. There are predatory animals, and there are predatory human beings.
When they kill those wolves, it allows other animals to survive, maybe even the human animal:
        http://www.wildsentry.org/WolfAttack.html

      • Claire

Amongst animals, it is the survival of the fittest. The predatory animals kill other animals for food. It is Nature. And yes, sometimes there are rogue animals that attack humans. It is a personal choice-and I am a person that does not condone “sport” killing. If for necessity then there is no choice. And I did not say everyone had to agree with me.

      • jim

Hi Claire, I hunt in a different kind off way, with a Nikon. I can hunt without a licence, on protected land, off season and I can shoot the animal more than once and another camera hunter can hunt it again. I just doesn’t feed you though. My trophy fits in a photo album.

      • Michael J.

        Claire,
The wolves you mentioned were not killed for sport or for the fun of it. Culling operations are carried out by trained Wildlife Management professionals who take the job of protecting all species seriously. When wolf populations are to great in numbers, prey species suffer a decline in numbers. Dedicated Wildlife Management Biologist continually study prey and predator populations in the habitat they live in. They then make recommendations as to sustainable numbers of animals that their habitat will support. In some areas of the country, prey animals too, such as deer and wild hogs are also culled as a result of low or no natural predator species to maintain the natural balance. Over population of prey species leads to disease and encroachment on farm crops. Nobody enjoys putting down these animals but, it is necessary to maintain the balance of nature.

      • Claire

I am well aware of what you say. But it still does not change my mind about sport killing. I saw the shooting of the wolves on TV (a documentary) and I remember thinking that if it has to be done, then hopefully it would be an instanteous death, no suffering. What I saw in this documentary did not represent a swift killing. I have acreage in the country and I know why I have this problem–My nephew lives on the property next to mine, he has 23 deer slugs in his house now, and during deer season the weekend warriors come out, leave wounded deer behind and then when bow and arrow season starts, there are deer left running around with arrows in them. I do not allow hunting or trapping on my property. Food for the table is fine, but make clean killings, don’t leave maimed animals left to suffer. This is the type of person I am and I am set in my ways.

      • Claire

jim–Good for you. My husband has many good photos of deer, quail, pheasant. I have a lot of wildlife on my property. And I keep it like that intentionally. A creek runs through one side of it, and that is good. The old farmhouse is still standing, I have maintained it. There is a lot of farmground around the property, and I always think at least the animals have habitat. I would love to live there but with my husband’s health issues, we need to be close to the hospitals and doctors. We get down there every month. It is so peaceful and the dogs sure enjoy it. Enuf said, I guess I have a tendency to ramble. Sorry.

      • Joe H.

        Claire,
Did you know that the wolf has made such a comback that it is no longer on the endangered list in even the lower states and are killing off peoples herds at alarming rates? The wolf is my spirit animal and even the native Americans killed them from time to time!!!

      • Joe H.

        Claire,
i don’t mean to make you look bad, but didn’t you say your husband hunted till he couldn’t take the walking anymore????

      • Claire

JoeH–you are okay in asking me these questions. Yes, my husband used to hunt. He only hunted quail and pheasant with his dogs. He loved training and working with his dogs. And God help me, I could never eat the birds. But I didn’t berate him for doing what he loved to do. And Joe, I am so happy he didn’t go after deer. I am one of those Bambi freaks. I wish to point out that I do not have a problem with hunting deer for food. However, I do have a problem with the weekend warriors. I depise seeing deer with arrows hanging out of their bodies, and suffering from a “bad shot” during hunting season. Some hunters need to go to target practice or something to learn how to shoot. I am not trying to pull a “double standard” here, I just think that some species of animals are slaughtered uselessly and cruelly. If wolves have made a definite comeback, that is great. I am one of those people that hate to see any animal become extinct, and I believe in protecting America’s environment to the best of our ability. I also realize humans come first in times of animal attacks, and that people do have to protect their sheep, herds of cattle, etc. After all, I was raised on a farm. Hopefully you won’t think I am such a bad person after all.

      • Claire

        Good grief— despise, not depise

        Amen.

I say: “A few words in the hand are worth more than 20 pages on the tele-prompter”.
Sarah Palin is an excellent speaker, quite contrary to the Big Kahuna, who is not able to say a single sentence on his own. All I hear are so many a-a-a and uh-uh-uh that I can’t bear it an switch off my TV.
Who invented the myth that Mr. Obama is a good speaker? He is a god READER !

    • perry

You guys are wierd. What is on you blooming minds?
Even Hollwood Ron used a teleprompter. Get lost you idiots.

      • Katja

Perry, we are no idiots, and we are not WEIRD.
Nothing against prompters as long as you don’t make fun of a few notes. THAT’s the point here ! We have a saying in Germany ” Don’t throw stones if you’re sitting in a glass house” – but you wouldn’t understand that either!

I take it that you never saw that televised meeting in Baltimore between Obama and the entire Repukes caucus in the House, which occurred a couple of weeks ago. Obama had no notes or teleprompter. He had to wing it, as the saying goes, not knowing what questions he’d be asked. He performed admirably. He made the Repukes look like a bunch of flunkies.

I heard that Repukes have said privately, that they would never agree to another one of these type of meetings. Can you imagine any Repuke being able to do as well as Obama? I can’t. Even your hero, Reagan wouldn’t have been able to do as good as Obama.

Just so I understand where you’re coming from: You’re in favor of EVERYTHING under the sun being for free i.e. health care, food, heat, electricity and so on, paid for of course by 1/2 the population (taxpayers)while the other half just sits home with their hands out waiting for monthly checks while watching their big screen TV? Why not throw in free car insurance, cable, and concert tickets too while we’re at it? Do people bear any responsibility for their own well being? ANY?

      • Jan W

I for one do not expect free anything. I am disabled by a drunk-driver teen head-on, severe physical abuse (over 100 concussions and I can still spell pretty well) and after 32 years of soul-killing corporate work and paying taxes to -not my country but the private bankers’ interest and control of the world- I often go without water, can’t afford my medications and go without, can’t afford food and go without, have no transportation down to buses, and am blessed and grateful at this moment to have both power and a phone on, having often gone without. Nothing is black and white, sir. Left-brained corporate policy killed my husband and almost killed me. I am getting disability payments, after four years of waiting and suffering extreme poverty, from all my years of paying into the system. I don’t consider my meager stipend which does not cover my utilities, food and medication to be a big free hand-out. If you CAN work, you are blessed, lucky, and one of a shrinking minority thanks to the manipulations of the Federal Reserve, the Trilateral Commission, Bilderbergs, etc. The IRS attacks widows and tries to scare them into giving up over 1/3 of husband’s life insurance as INCOME. It is a known routine, and they call every day, threaten, and sound like the mob. I had to spend a year’s income (4K) to prove to the IRS that they were mistaken. Don’t you just LOVE the federal reserve/global order?

      • Jana

Jan, I am sure sorry abut you injuries and your suffering. It is indeed sad that you are having such financial difficulties. In lieu of all of this how can you afford a computer and internet service? I have the bare minimum on internet service and it still costs.

      • AnhydrousBob

Why would anyone take a “soul killing” paycheck for 32 years?

      • Leonidcat

I’m sorry for you if the story is true. But 32 years of corporate work? I worked and a portion of my paycheck into a 401K. I must say that was a tidy sum when I did retire. Everyone has their problems, and you seem to have a bit more. Still, if you worked for that many years, had a husband which I assume also worked because your collecting his SS, why didn’t you both save so you would be independent when you retired or needed other necessities. SS was passed as a “supplemental income” not as a retirement income.

      • http://Don'thaveone Sally

Jan, you are of the wrong race. I’m sorry you had to spend money to get the IRS off your back on the insurance money. Had I known, I would have taken on the job for free. All insurance, no matter what for is not earned income and therefore is not taxable even under your estate, that is the reason that Insurance companies say to buy huge amounts of insurance and it helps you heirs get through probate. You didn’t have anything to worry about however, when the Bush tax cuts were in place, as their wasn’t any inheritance tax. Starting in 2010 there is now 45%.

Yes 10. Count all your fingers on your left hand (you know, the one you pick your nose with), then count all the fingers on your right hand, (the one you pull your head out of your ass with) and all together that adds up to 10. Yep a nice round number, just slightly lower than a chimpanzee. Now you can reinsert your head back in your ass since that is where it seems to be most often.

      • Michael J.

        Stephaan,
Now hold on just a minute, there’s no reason to insult Chimpazees like that. You might get a reprimand from PETA.

    • michael

all public figures and newscasters use telepromters not a big deal. maybe palin should use one then maybe she won’t look like such an idiot.

      • Tim

Whether she uses a teleprompter or not, it doesn’t change the fact that she is too incompetent to be president. Her approval ratings are VERY LOW. Only 47% of Repukes support her. Obama would kick her butt if they ever faced each other. The only thing she has going for her, is her pretty face.

      • Michael J.

Tim, Obama’s approval rate has been hoveribg at around 46%. So what is your point?

      • Michael J.

        hovering (just proved I’m human)

      • Joe H.

        Michael J.,

“Walk and chew gum at the same time.” Now that’s an oldie. LOL

  • Jeff J

So let’s see. Sarah Palin writes a few notes on her hand, but Barack Obama cannot give a speech without a teleprompter. Sarah Palin’s notes merely indicate topics. Barack Obama plans every word on the teleprompter. Robert Gibbs is making fun of the wrong person. The hand notes aren’t even news worthy. If she wrote it on an index card, would anyone have cared?

    • Dom T

      Well said Jeff J.

    • Time

      Jeff
How right you are, if they as in Barry and his gang of thugs were not scared stiff over the power this woman has, all this rhetoric they spew would not exist. That goes for MSN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN. FEAR is a very strong motivator to destroy anyone who gets in your way.
Everyone should read the ART of WAR. To understand why and how is to better understand the world at large.

      • Harold Olsen

Yeah, they all suffer from Sarahphobia. Everyone on the left, and a lot of people who are supposedly on the right, are completely terrified of her. She must be doing something right!!

      • Wil

Oderant dum metuant.Let them hate so long as they fear. The two things liberals actually do.

    • J C

Jeff, all it does is point out that they have nothing but straws to grasp at…in other words…nothing at all. They’re scared and it shows.

    • John B

We have to help Sarah. I don’t know who is responsible for her speeches and meetings but, they should be fired. She deserves better than this. The whole country thinks she is a buffoon and she’s not. The latest polls on Fox shows she’s not even a viable candidate anymore. We need Sarah. Let’s help stop the bleeding,

      • deltadawn

The more they ridicule her the more she will gain support, particularly among women. Keep them coming, Ron and you’ll give the GOP the WH in 2012. If a Press Secretary representing the President of the United States can only resort to buffoonery they’re done.

      • Time

Delta, Your oh so right, I have no issues with a strong woman running the country. I really don’t know a lot about her, but I have her book and I have to read it this week I just have had to much going on over the last few months.

As I have noted before she has the WH thugs very scared, as well the standard media mugs seems to be incapable of dealing a Strong WOMAN.

      • cr747

People like Katie Couric is so jealous of her that all she has to say about Sarah is NEGATIVE. I quit watching CBS because of Couric and all her ignorance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • AnhydrousBob

We, the American Public, do not need Sarah! Now, I’ve got nothing but respect for her, but we do NOT need anyone. That is progressive talk. We need our ideals and our bravery – we don’t need any one to LEAD us. That is what the Left can’t understand. The “Right Wing Radicals” have no defined leader, just like minded Americans coming together to choose a chief executive.

      • Harold Olsen

I’m angry at Palin for supporting McCain his re-election bid and hope he gets clobbered. I’ve said that because of it I’m not sure I can support her if she runs for president in 2012. But, the more the left criticizes her the more I support her. If she had not been McCain’s running mate, I would have voted for a third party candidate. I actually voted for her in 2008, not McCain. I guess I’ll stick with her.

      • usmadgirl

        Harold Olsen,

Don’t you think she’s between a rock & a hard place about campaigning for McCain? You KNOW her values are more in line with J.D. Hayworth’s Conservative values than McCain’s moderate ideas, but if she DIDN’T campaign for McCain, people would say she’s not loyal & if she DOES, people are going to say she’s helping a progressive Republican. She’s darned if she does & darned if she doesn’t!

      • Jana

        usmadgirl,
        My sentiments exactly.

      • Joe H.

        USmadgirl,
Again one of the ladies here has read my mind!!

    • Jan W

Just what I was thinking. Although I can’t stand either Palin or Obama, and know SP for the war-loving, pipeline-agreeing shill that she is, every speaker has a few talking points on a card, and she didn’t even use this. And CHIEFATK is also correct – the cost difference is telling. I just hope those notes are solely HER points and not words someone else “reminded” her to speak of, then sent her out to do her stuff and look pretty and rally dupes like my poor ignorant mother. She says some things I agree with, but doesn’t every politician at some time? She has said and done things that completely appall me. In politics, as in life, no one stands alone. She is a politician – not able to be independent, she is not free, she does not know the truth about many crucial things, or if she does she’s just another actor playing a role at some director’s whim. I pray that actors like Sarah and Glenn lying pie-hole Beck do not derail the movement. I guess in addition to the Tea-party, we need the Constitutionalists party.

      • Dotty

Jan — Sorry, but your disillusionment with Sarah and Glenn is very strange! I would back Sarah in a heartbeat; after all, she has run a state — Obama has proven that he can’t run our country, yet the majority put him into office. Also, Glenn Beck (as well as Sarah) were the reason the Tea Party groups have been successful! Without Glenn and Sarah, they wouldn’t have the power they now enjoy! Glenn basically encouraged people to get involved in our government — and tea party groups is the result of Glenn’s answer to “get us involved.” Not everything is right with the tea party groups, but at least it is grass roots and people have finally awaken and gotten involved! Oh, and Gibbs: He’s just a well-educated a-hole!

      • deltadawn

Please do not mention Sarah Palin & Glen Beck in the same breath. He isn’t a conservative, he’s a wacko who is an embarrassment to the Republican Party and certainly does us much more harm than good.

      • Jana

delta then you haven’t watched him recently. He is giving history lessons and it is very encouraging to learn the TRUTH about our history. I have been encouraged enough to start studying more history than just what he is presenting.
The left sure doesn’t like him because he has been pointing out the flaws in their ideals and agendas. Give him another try before writing him off.

      • AnhydrousBob

How is Glenn Beck an embarrassment to the Repubs? He doesn’t claim to be a Repub, but leans toward the libertarian viewpoint – one that is more in line with the Constitution than the current Republican views.

      • Harold Olsen

Beck is NOT a Republican. He claims to be a Libertarian. He is also a buffoon and I just can not take him seriously. He’s done some good shows about Obama and the corruption of his regime but he ruins it by his buffoonery. Also, he seems to want to give Obama a pass. He says that Obama isn’t the problem. He says Obama is just being manipulated by the people–especially the czars–that are around him. He also demeans those of us who are demanding that Obama prove he is a natural born citizen and qualified constitutionally to be president.

      • momof4

        deltadawn,
Glenns not conservative? He’s ultra conservative and really knows the constitution. He’s a very smart man. He does a great job of explaining things. I like him I really think he is a good guy.

      • Tim

I agree with you about Glenn Beck: he is a wacko, but so is Palin!
In a recent poll, only 47% of Republicans support her. She has a much lower approval rating than Obama. In a recent gallup poll, ANY republican would lose to Obama if the election were held right now.

      • eyeswideopen

Tim, here is Sarah’s national defense plan-the entirety of it-was this: “And when it comes to national security, as I ratchet down the message on national security, it’s easy to just kind of sum it up by repeating Ronald Reagan when he talked about the Cold War. And we can apply this now to our war on terrorism, you know. Bottom line, we win, they lose. We do all that we can to win.”

The woman at least has stopped with the “also, therefore” comments, but if this is her idea of national defense, we are in big doo doo.

      • Joe H.

        Tim,
I’ll bet Obumma fooled you, too!!! Voted for him, didn’t you?

      • Stephaan

        TIM,
since you think EVERYBODY except for YOU, & your savior obummer are wakos, that sort of puts you on the short end of a sliding scale!
If everybody is a wako EXCEPT you and obummer…….wellllll, maybe it is YOU, who art the wako…….. not like you needed to further prove it to us…… I’m just sayin

      • cr747

SORRY to inform you, but Obama couldn’t win as DOG CATCHER right now.. He is down for the count.. The count is impeached after 2010.. Then his pet sheep O-BIDEN would be impeached next. Then if O-PELOSI is still there she would be next crying the blues!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How exactly have you come to your decisions about the Rebublican Party & why do you think the Tea Party movement is racist when Conservative blacks (who don’t care to be called “African Americans” because they are Americans who just happen to be black) are as involved in the Tea Party as white people?

You’re just about as uninformed or misinformed as you can be! People like you are the reason this country is in the mess it’s in, NOT Sarah or the Tea Party movement!

      • eyeswideopen

usmadgirl, please show me a link of any sort that has a black person in it at the tea parties….you can use any of them, but they can’t be the police.

      • Michael J.

        EWO,
A black man was accosted by SEIU members during the course of one of the original Tea Parties because he was offering to sell conservative sloganed T- shirts. But you wouldn’t know, because it wasn’t covered on MSNBC. (Messiah’s Secular Nation, Brainwashing Channel)

And also, the one and only person to bring a gun to a Tea Party because in the town in which the Tea Party was held carrying firearms is legal, just happehed to be a black man.

There’s plenty more examples, all ya gotta do is look.

      • DaveH

You know better than that Eyes. All you have to do is open those eyes.
Consider the fact that 94% of blacks asked at exit polls said they voted for Obama. That leaves about 6% of blacks that would be anti-Obama. Then consider the fact that blacks make up about 15% of the US population. So, at most, 1% of the total population would consist of conservative blacks. So if 40% of the population is conservative (rasmussen poll), assuming those would be the Tea Partiers, that would mean about 2.5% of them might be blacks. Yes, 2.5% of blacks in a crowd might be a little hard to spot.
        Anyway, to answer your question:

      • Claire

Michael J–I saw on TV a white man with a gun. He was at a tea party and he had a beard. Dang, I think it was in Texas but I am not for sure of the location. I honestly cannot remember where but I know what I saw. And I only saw the guy once and he talked to the reporter. It was never shown on TV again, at least I wasn’t watching if they showed it again.

      • usmadgirl

        Hi Claire,

Here is the link to the ERRONEOUS report from MSNBC & some of the other “MessiahStreamMedia” about the so-called “white protester” carrying a gun. What they didn’t show was that the gun-carrier was NOT the white protester, but a black man. MSNBC INTENTIONALLY edited it to NOT show the man’s head, because if they had it would’ve shown that he wasn’t a white Tea Party protester, but a black man who wasn’t a protester. It was in Arizona instead of Texas. That’s why you shouldn’t watch the “MessiahStreamMedia”! They just make crap up to suit their agenda!

        http://www.nowpublic.com/world/msnbc-turns-black-man-gun-obama-rally-white-man

      • Claire

usmadgirl—Thank you!! I quickly pulled up this site and it is not the same guy. The guy I saw was white, with a short beard, and looked rather scroungy, but I saw his face, since he was talking to the reporter. The gun was strapped to his right leg. He was on TV just for a minute or so, it happened so quickly, and I never saw him again anywhere on the TV stations. I cannot even remember what channel I was watching, since I do flip channels. Maybe the channel I was watching pulled it on purpose and never used the scene again. Or maybe they were trying to “plant” something. This is weird and almost embarassing, but I know what I saw. I don’t want anyone to think I am a nut case.

      • Claire

usmadgirl–The first time I pulled up the site you gave, I just looked at the picture of the black guy. Then I pulled the site up again and READ the whole article. Now I feel better. Now I know I’m not losing it! Thank you very much for your time and effort. Now I am honked off at MSNBC. I always preach about not believing everything the media puts out and I fell for it. Shame on me.

I like your use of “Repuke Party.” That is a perfect name for the Party of the rightwinger extremists, including most of the bloggers in here. Guess what GOP stands for:
        GREAT OBSTRUCTIONIST PARTY.

      • JeffH

Tiny Tim, You forgot the “teabaggers, rednecks, violent gun extremists, and uneducated” in your Polly unsaturated remarks.

      • Michael J.

        JrffH,
Ever notice that Progressives possess a child like hope for benevelent dictators that allegedly care about the interest of everyone? History shows that these mentally stunted adolescents are merely disposable mouthpeices (useful idiots) of world government.

      • DaveH

Have you ever noticed, Jeff and Michael, how much they are like spoiled teenagers, who, until they get out of the house and pay their own way, think their parents are the scourge of the earth?
You would think these lowlife who are living on other peoples’ money would be very grateful to those of us who are donors. You would think wrong.
You can tell where we will stand if we allow them to get too much power. Today they launch vicious verbal attacks on us. Tomorrow?

      • Joe H.

        Michael J.,
That’s because they can’t make it on their own and figure the government will do it for them. Then when the government does nothing for them but raise taxes they blame it on the “obstructionist repubs” when it’s the fault of their libby heroes spending all the cash BEFORE they get to them!!!!

      • Michael J.

        Jeff and Dave,
What we are really talking about here is brainwashing. This is learned behaviour. The children have been conditioned to hate their parents, they learn in school that America is bad and capitalism doesn’t work. The minds of children are like a sponge designed to readily absorb any and all information. Hitler new this and used it to undermine and split German families. Once your child had been indoctrinated, it was as if you were living with a spy in your house.

      • Stephaan

        To Timmy.
Try getting with the program here. You are one of the ignorant ones who lumps all conservatives into the republican party, and all the libs into the dems. You appear to be so ignorant as to think that all repubs. are bad and all dems. are good. Get a freakin clue Timmy! It hasn’t been that way for decades. There may be more conservatives in the repub. party, and more liberal socialists in the dem. party, but by pigeon holing everybody you show your ignorance. You have to do more than just look at the books cover. You actually have to open the book to see what it’s about, a totally foreign concept to you I’m sure….

      • Joe H.

        Stephaan,
Good to see you haven’t lost a step since the other site, keep up the good work!!!

      • Stephaan

Actually Joe, I have missed a few steps. I keep trippin over the dead liberals Lie-ing all over the place ;-)

    • michael

Everyone uses telepromters thats not news. But as a public speaking instructor I would give a student a bad grade for writing talking points on their hand, it shows they are not prepared.

      • Alton Robinson

Let me understand you, you say someone who reads a speech off a teleprompter is good but someone who uses a few words to remind them to cover them in a speech is bad? After being a speaker, where we were not allowed to use either I would have to say the better speaker would be the one who only uses notes and does the speaking from the heart. In a long speech very few people can remember the whole speech while in front of a large crowd.

      • michael

note cards would of been fine but writingonyour hand like a cild is well childish but what ca I expect from repubs. They lost so like children they don’t eant to play anymore.

      • Joe H.

        michael,
Looks like you should have written a few notes on YOUR hand, or copied your post from a teleprompter!!!

      • usmadgirl

        Michael,

        WHAT????????????????????????

      • usmadgirl

        Joe H,

You made me laugh really big with that one!

      • Tim

Scribbing notes on her hand shows that she is incompetent. That is the type of thing you’d expect from someone who is not very bright.
Obama didn’t have to write any notes on his hands at the
Q&A meeting with Republicans in Baltimore a couple of weeks ago. Neither did he have a teleprompter. He kicked the Repukes butts and was even outnumbered 140 to 1. Haha!

      • JeffH

Tiny Tim, you obviously didn’t watch the prez in action because what I saw was the same old president doing the same old thing. Lieing, blaming, and never giving a straight answer. Then again, he doesn’t intend to change his bad habits either. What else is new?

      • cr747

Very true JeffH, Timothy must have been watching The Simpsons.
He sure did have a lot of Uh, Ah, Oh, and a lot of BS!!!!!!!!!!

      • Meteorlady

Hey big difference between a student and a person actually using the craft day to day. Sarah is a busy lady and I was impressed she could stand there and give a speech without a teleprompter and just a few notes on her hand. I think she was more than prepared.

      • michael

yeah she’s busy quitting everything she starts.

      • Tim

        Amen!!

      • eyeswideopen

        LMAO!!!!!

      • cr747

Obama, would be better off to quit. It won’t be long until he’s thrown out.. That’s really going to be embarrassing for him!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Michael J.

        Michael,
Would you give Obama a bad grade for mispronouncing the word “Corpsman” which he read from materials prepared exclusively for him and delivered VIA his own teleprompter?

Ya know, no one cares that he uses a teleprompter. All public officials use them at one time, or another. It’s just that he looks so unatural when doing so, which also is no big deal as long as his message comes across clearly and concisely.

The part that rattles most people is the multitude of horn blowers including you and Obama himself trumpeting the lofty heights from which his legendary oratory skills have descended. I guess you guys and gals didn’t realize that the precedent you were setting was going to be tough to live up to.

Maybe if the MSM and others had not over blown the speaking skills of Mr. Obama, all the rest of us may have overlooked the verbal stumbling because after all, what the American people really want is great leadership, not great orators.

    • Harold Olsen

Plus, Obama has a problems pronouncing the words he is reading. And yet people say how articulate he is.
