You know, you are right, Rush was on Armed Forces Radio & Television Services (AFRTS). But you know, during my entire time in the military, I had never listened to AFRTS, nor was I forced to listen to AFRTS. As a matter of fact, I had been in quite a few countries while in the military, including the middle east, and never once did I hear nor did I see anyone else listing to AFRTS. So, your assertion that Rush was being forced down the throats of soldiers just doesn’t hold water. I know that you liberals think that soldiers are just mindless drones, that are brainwashed to do what ever we are told, but you know, even in the military we had freedom to listen to or watch what ever we wanted, and the military encourages soldiers to think for themselves, because they don’t want mindless drones.

And if your son heard Rush on AFR, it was because an individual was listening to it, not because he was being forced to listen to it. And it didn’t say anything about why the letter to the DOD was sent, it didn’t say that soldiers had written to their Congressmen to have Rush put on and that they were relaying that to the DOD. Also, it doesn’t say that the DOD has complete control over the programing of AFR and doesn’t have to put on anything, whether Congress wants it on or not. Nor did you mention that AFR also has on NPR, which is a government funded, left leaning station. My husband was Navy so that is how I got to so many places, and then after Navy he worked for Ford Aerospace on the Omega Project. Here is one of the many. Fox said several times that the Cubans were not in Haiti after the quake. The other news media that some of you hate, mentioned that they were. It is on the other station’s record that they attended to 800 people that suffered an injury of some kind for the first day after the quake. The interviewed Cuban doctor said that there were 32 more doctors from Cuba with medical supplies on their way to Haiti, and Cuba was letting people fly to Cuba for cases of trauma. Instead of saying they are no where to be seen, couldn’t the reporters have said that they couldn’t find them. Fox is too political to tell the truth. They always give it their political slant. Results: poor reporting.

Sally, how do you think they figured out what was written on the pages that were torn, faded, harmed in some way? Do you seriously think that the people transcribing were perfect in the translation? Some had bad eyesight, some were old, with shaking hands. Some may have wanted to change the meaning to something they thought would be better. Humans are not perfect, that is why there are many opposing or conflicting parables, rules, statements. Christians accept the Bible based on faith. You can ask 10 different ministers, preachers, priests, theologians who will each give you a different interpretation of the books of the Bible. Who will be right? That is why your faith is personal between you and God.

The pages were not torn, or faded, as a matter of fact, most of the pages that were originally translated to the Greek Bible in 40 & 45 AD were in pristine condition. What has happened here is simple! SSI is not an entitlement program.
The SSI tax is paid from a working person’s paycheck right off the top. It is a nice big tax which the employer pays also whatever the employer does. So, although one does end up getting more than they and the employer have put in it is not a welfare hand out! Just depends how long one lives! Obama will fix that though!

Now the only intelligent thing that Al Gore ever said was that he wanted to put SSI in a Black Box! Protect it from the greedy hand’s of politicians!

While the SSI payments of every American from the inception of SSI should have been more than enough it is broke!

No your right, it didn’t all start in 2007. As that I used to work in manufacturing, I can tell you that manufacturing jobs began jumping overseas after Clinton signed NAFTA and companies found that it was cheaper for them to manufacture overseas and export to the US. And as that I now work in real estate (self-employed), and I deal with foreclosures, I can tell you that those foreclosures increased, a lot, from people who got mortgages in 2007. And it was under Jimmy Carter that the Community Reinvestment Act was passed, and Dems that forced Fannie & Freddie Mac to insure loans to people who couldn’t afford those loans.
It was also Liberals that demonized anyone that tried to put a stop to illegal immigration, and Liberals that want to give those 12 million illegals amnesty. It was Liberals and the Dems who tried, and are still trying to put a stop to the building of a border fence.
The reason that education is in such bad shape is because States can’t run their education systems (education is federally funded but state run), that’s why private schools have a much lower drop out rate and better scoring. And it is the Liberal Democrats that don’t want school vouchers so that kids can go to private schools and get a better education than they could get in public schools.
As for the Patriot Act, as that I don’t agree with everything in it, it was a necessity, unless you are one of those that are diluted enough to think that there is no terrorist threat. And, Liberals always want to point to that as something that is bad, but can’t find one instance where anyone’s rights have been violated under it.
And I agree with you that the tax system is messed up, but I believe that it has been Republicans that have said that they wanted to get rid of the IRS and it is the Dems who want to increase the tax burden. And even though Republicans had spent our tax money like it was water, when the Dems took over Congress in 07 they doubled the spending and increase the deficit more in just 2 yrs. than had been done by Republicans in 5 yrs..
Also, if you had actually read my response, instead of just going on about Rush, you would know that Congress does not have anything to do with the programing of AFR, the Department of Defense has control of the programing, and it was because they were petitioned by most of the military personnel to have Rush on.

Thanks! Since Glenn told us in August to start taking notes, I have every single day. I started on my second composition book on his first Anniversary. I’ve always been a Republican but never seriously interested in politics until GLENN! When O-bum-a was campaigning I knew a lot of what he was up to, but without Glenn, I would’ve never known all this insane stuff!

I’ve learned more from him than all my life before. We actually learned about the Constitution in American History (taught by a tyrant) when I was in school, but I had forgotten 90% of what I learned & knew NOTHING about Progressiveism.

Welcome back. I haven’t seen any posts from you over the past few days.

It might make a difference if those folks that watch Fox News actually vote. I think a problem the Democratic Party has had is that they’ve characterized Fox News as a right-wing news organization that promotes the Republican Party. I think most folks who watch Fox News see it a little differently. Many on this board, for example, have been very critical of Republican Party policies and politicians, but I’d venture to say that most watch Fox News. However, it is true that Fox does give voice to conservative and libertarian views, but they also give voice to moderate and liberal views as well. It appears that a good number of moderate and conservative Democratic voters watch Fox News as well, so Obama runs the risk of alienating those voters if he’s too harsh in his criticism of Fox. Let’s face it. The real battle line right now is between Progressives/Liberals and Conservatives/Moderates/Libertarians/Independents. Not Democrats versus Republicans. So, in my opinion, Obama would probably do better to just leave it alone, I think.

I agree… my husband and I both agree… when the census bureau sends their minions to our door to force us to fill out the 2010 census forms completely, we’ll be standing there with our weapon of choice in their face, telling them to get off our private property. They get our names, sex, ages, and that’s it, no more, because that’s all that is mandated by the US Constitution.

I’m not concerned about the census. I think it’s a sham. I’m 60 and have NEVER participated in a census in my entire life. I have never once received a census form in the mail to fill out nor has anyone from the Census Bureau ever visited me. Which makes me wonder if a REAL census survey is really taken or if they just fake them so they can redistrict states so the Democrats can get the most favorable districts.

You know, as that I’m a Vet, the one that I loved the most is when Obama thought that it would be a good idea to propose that if soldiers were wounded in the war, and they had (or their spouse had) private insurance, that instead of the government taking care of our Hero’s, the one’s that have put their lives on the line for our freedom. That the soldiers should use their private insurance to pay for their own medical care so that we might “save” a little money.

I agree with the suggestion that the White House doesn’t call because they can’t refute the arguments that Beck is putting forward. However, I’d bet there’s a more fundamental political reason they haven’t called. Obama would rather cast negative dispersions about Glenn Beck being a reckless right wing radical, than engage in debate with him. To engage him in debate would actually give some level of credence to Beck and his arguments. Obama doesn’t want to do that, so they try to characterize him as a nut job instead, and hope they can convince enough people to go along with that idea. First, I highly doubt many of the posters here have any experience with professional journalism. I doubt many here have attained a journalism degree. Many here have no concept about what are recognized as journalistic ethics.

Yes, it’s been proven on numerous occasions that Faux will use ANY video clips to make you believe their story. An ethical journalist would NEVER substitute video footage just to make an event seem better attended that it really was.
Like on November 18th when Faux used year-old video footage to make the crowd at a Sarah Palin book signing look bigger than it was. Faux News apologized the next day.
Like on November 11th when Hannity used “old” footage to make (fake) a Michelle Bachmann rally seem better attended than it really was. (There were no leaves on the trees for Bachmann’s event, but the crowd shots from the 9-12 rally months earlier showed leafy green trees). Hannity apologized the next day.
On June 24th when Republican Mark Sanford was caught lying about his affair, Faux News ran a graphic indentifying Sanford as a “Democrat”. Faux News apologized the next day. Every one of these examples (and there are so many more), are unethical.

It goes on and on. These types of manipulations are why Glenn Beck was voted “Misinformer of the Year”. This is why the White House doesn’t consider Faux News a “journalism” based network. (The Press Secretary is supposed to deal with the press, who are trained journalists who are supposed to adhere to journalism ethics.) Faux News and these “stunts” are where journalism crosses-over into propaganda. Propaganda is manipulation, half-truths and blatant lies. If YOU want to call that news because it’s been massaged to fit your beliefs, that’s fine, but to anyone who understands the basic tenants of journalism, Faux is not news. (And Faux themselves recently admitted they were “pundits” NOT journalists, like THAT gives them permission to be propagandists and lie.)

Msnbc, has Republicans : Pat Buchanan, Joe Scarborough,Tucker Carlson, Doug Heye, Frank Gaffney, Leslie Sanchez, Rick Santorm, Dan Bartlett, Ron Christie, Karen Handraddie(sp?), and many more. How do you figure that they are fair and balanced when they have no input from the opposition? At least the Republicans are heard on MSNBC, and they are merciless in their opinions.
