Obama's Approval Ratings Fall Again

January 18, 2010 by

Obama's approval ratings fall againAs his first year in the White House comes to a close, President Barack Obama’s job approval rating has fallen to a new low, according to a CBS News poll.

The latest national opinion poll released on Monday found that 46 percent of people approve of the president’s performance, marking the first time Obama’s rating has slipped below 50 percent in the CBS survey. His current numbers are down from a high of nearly 70 percent in April of 2009.

According to the poll, healthcare and the economy are the two most prominent factors contributing to the president’s low score. The survey, conducted early in January, found that only 36 percent of Americans support Obama’s handling of healthcare reform while just 41 percent approve of his managing of the economy.

Meanwhile, fear of another terrorist attack has increased, although the majority of Americans commend the current administration’s response to the attempted bombing of a Detroit-bound airplane.

Last month, Obama said he expected the fall in ratings and that he was "surprised they held up as well as they did" considering the state of the economy.

Face it, nobody likes a bully! Not even the first history making African American. Nobody likes a bully.

    • Robert

      J.B., he’s not a bully. A schmuck, yes, but not a bully.

      • John

He’s a pussy when it comes to defending our Country against our enemies.

    • DaveH

      Robert, John,
Don’t even kid yourselves. Obama would step on us in a heartbeat if he thought he could get away with it.

      • JeffH

The only thing holding him back is that his supporters are thinning rapidly. His runaway train is slowing everyday. Everyone must not let up and keep the pressure on.

      • John

        Dave,

I was speaking of our enemies. I’ve said all along that the only people that he takes a stand against are the American People, especially those that do not agree with him.

  • Jack

    Jay:

Since an army has to be raised, trained, equiped and paid for, exactly how is Obama going to secretely raise an army of 1,000,000?
How is he going to pay for it?

Since you mention the Tribulation, if you believe in the Rapture would you be so kind as to post the books, chapters and verses in the Bible that say there will be a Rapture other than when Christ appears to the entire world and then cleanses it with fire to commence the millennuim. I am not trying to start a religious discussion. I ask this because I haven’t found it and I wonder why I keep missing it. Everytime I have asked someone for the same information they usually can’t tell me anywhere to look and if they do give me something when I read it it is not talking about a Rapture before the Tribulation.

    • Robert

Where’s Obama going to raise a 1,000,000 man army? Easy. He’ll ask Louie Farakan’s assistance. I’m sure he’ll be able to help. Didn’t he organize the million man march?

      • Warrior

        ACORN

    • usmadgirl

      Jack,

He can get it from George Soros or he can just print more. It’s “Obama money”. “He’s the president…he can get it from his ‘stash’”! Isn’t that what the lady in Detroit who was waiting in line for her “fair share” said?

      • JeffH

        You go girl! Luv it!

  • Rod

In the first place, o-BUM-a and his criminals will try to white wash
and blame the previous Admin. of everything that goes wrong. His LACK
of ability and his true agenda are showing through. The people are
tired of hearing his lies and those of palosi and reid. They are failing BADLY and they are running scared. The left radicals are so
dumb they keep contributing to their own failure. They think they don’t have to listen to the American people and can shove TYRANNY
down our throat. I can feel a GREAT YEAR comming for the G.O.P. if
    they get their act together.

    • Robert

And as long as they don’t take our guns away from us before the November elections. Did you notice the Blank Panther thugs in Philadelphia last election and Holder drops charges. Did you see the attack by SEIU thugs against that American selling patriotic flags and Holder drops chargers. Did you see those pieces of S _ _ T conspire to carry out the 911 attacks and Holder gives them American rights to a civilian trial. Is it Holder or really Obama? They get legislation passed to take away our rights to own guns and when we go to vote this Novemeber, guess who will be there to deny us our rights? Obama’s gang of thungs, that’s who. Lock and load people, unless your a woose.

      • John

        Robert,

That is what I’ve been saying all along. obama has no problem taking a stand against the American Citizenry, especially the ones that do not agree with him. That’s why we need too band together to defend our rights and our liberties.

      • http://personalliberty ysunshine47

I doubt they will be stupid enough to try to take our guns away,we the people are preparing for that and it will get ugly if they try!

      • JeffH

Obama will never have the support of our military, local and state police to “take” our guns away. The anti’s will always be trying to strip us of our inherant right, but we will all fight back just as hard or harder to preserve our right.
        Lock and load!

  • BonnieMW

I think we can blame both the Republicans and the Democrates for the mess our nation is financially in. Both sides are equally crooked.
It was the responsibility of both the Congress and the President to
foresee the crash of our financial system but too many were paid to
close their eyes. I completely agree that Obama is making a bad
situation into a nighmare and should be empeached. He openly does
what the American people don’t want but of course Bush also did.
We need to get rid of almost everyone in office and let them know
they are here to represent us. Oregon is voting on a new tax increase
supposable for Teachers and Police. They didn’t give them any money when they had excess so how is that going to change with them taxing all the businesses out of business? I am proud of our community for
giving a standing ovation of boos at our College football Civil War Game to our Governor. We need to let them know we don’t approve.
Write letter every day to the President and your congressmen.

    • David

There is a difference in not knowing what to do to fix the economic problem (Bush) and knowingly taking advantage of the situation to implement permanent changes which will break the back of our economy (obama). The libs are directly attacking the private sector….because they HATE for the haves to have anything. Sorry to tell you though, there aren’t enough of you out there to make it happen.

    • JeffH

We need to blame ourselves first, afterall, we voted these people into office. When life was good, we allowed the status quo, without much deep thought. My how life has changed. Americans everywhere have finally decided enough is enough and are now making themselve heard. Time to run these “fat cat leaches” off of the carcass and get some new American blood into our government. Don’t yet know who, but time will tell.

      • DaveH

      • JeffH

DaveH, I never could argue with you on this one. Keep the line open because you are a wise man.

  • Robert

To all of you. I approve of Obama. Approve of him getting the hell out of the White House, Washington and the United States of America. That’s where my approval is.

  • Ox

AS A COUNTRY WE MADE THE MISTAKE OF ACCEPTING THE PROPAGANDA PROVIDED
BY THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY WITHOUT THOUGHTFULNESS, BLIND LEADING THE BLIND
    INTO THE UNKNOWN———-CHANGE!!!!!
CHANGE IS WHAT WE GOT——– NO LEADERSHIP, JUST APOLOGIES, SHOWMANSHIP,LIES AND MORE LIES TO COVER UP ONE AFTER ANOTHER.
IT IS A POOR STATE OF AFFAIRS THAT WILL REQUIRE A LONG HARD ROAD IF WE ARE TO RECOVER FROM THIS PUSH TOWARDS SOCIALISM AND GOV’T CONTROL.
EVERYONE NEEDS TO GET ON BOARD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE 432 DICTATING
USE OF OUR FUNDS AND DIRECTING OUR USA IN THE WRONG DIRECTION, FINANCIALLY AND GOVERNMENT WISE. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH……..

    • Renee

Change…..oh boy ! Hard to unravel all of this change !

  • Anne

I am so tired of blame! This is ONE country. We need two parties that can work together and fix this mess. The arrogance on the left has made the divide even greater than Obama was elected, and quite frankly Obama is causing most of the divide with his cocky attitude. He is a divider not a uniter. His agenda is to make himself look good because he is the first black president, not our country and that is sad.

  • James Steele

In my opinion obama should be impeached since he won’t show his birth certificate , and his grandmother said he was born in Kenya and she was there for his birth. And he’s the biggest lirer and bs’er we have ever had in goverment and that’s really sad considering the rest of the people in goverment.

    • WinstonWolf

I do agree with the birth cert. All the others have had to. But I’m not a birther.— He should show and med recorda as well
      ( USN-RET )

      • James

WinstonWolf, showing a would-be president’s birth certificate isn’t just a nice thing to do, it’s a constitutional requirement (Art. II, Sect. I, Cl. 4). If an aspirant to the Oval Office isn’t “a natural born citizen” he cannot be the president. The certificate that he did show contained no certificate number (it had been blacked out); it had no dated signatures of any state authority; and it was not typed as other certificates in 1961 in Hawaii, it was a laser print out, which capability was not available back then. A legitimate Hawaiian birth certificate back then had 14 horizontal lines and 22 virticle lines dividing the horizontal lines into boxes; which boxes were filled in by a typewriter, and hand-written dates and signatures.

  • LauraMaeRN

Very good. You are exactly right. The O administration wants to “take care of the people” which is NOT what we need. Government is supposed to work FOR us, WE tell THEM what we want from them and their job is to make it happen. Lazy people want everything for free and will vote for politicians who will “take care of them.” People in “welfare type situations” are all for Big GOvernment, those of us who work like DOGS for a living are sick of taking care of everyone else. Social programs for the needy in America is VASTLY different from Socialism and Socialism is the path we are on. Socialism = Poverty. Equal POVERTY for ALL !!

    • JLR

So absolutely 100% correct, Laura. Socialism is poverty equally for all, except the elite. The Socialist Health Care bill is shitty health care equally for all.
Socialism (Communism) has failed miserably in the 20th century and is responsible for the deaths of at least 100 million people. Now, if the patriot in us will please rise up, the elite global banker NWO’ers won’t stand a chance.
The thing that baffles my mind about Norm is what/whom is he protecting, serving and fooling? The liberals? The Clintons? The Bushes? The Obamas? These are the same as the Socialists in every respect, a failed political ideology that will never succeed in the U.S.A. These agendas can not succeed!
We need to stop saying to ourselves things like “when I was a kid,” or “what has happened to America?” We need to be more optimistic and positive. The Gun owners of this country, the good ole’ boys, the military guys who give blood, sweat and life will not sit idly by and watch tyranny overrun our great Nation. We will not let Norm win! At all costs, be it death, we will not succumb to Liberalism, ever!! Norm you are the minority, just because every channel on your T.V. asserts a social agenda of liberal mentality does not mean that Americans are predominately Socialists.

  • Warrior

It is just amazing how the economic downturn has really illuminated the fiscal irresponsibilties of the fed/state/local governments and especially in the BLUE states. Too much patronage and too many handouts. The problem is the dems and many repubs just want to continue to foster the Nanny state. How can anyone on the private side support any of their agenda?? The Libs are always touting Moral obligations for this or that. Well the moral obligation street is a two way road. If we continue to throw money at all these problems i.e. perpetual public education problems, healthcare, poor, illegals, don’t the recipients also have an obligation towards the people that give? Liberal government has created this for the explicit reason of maintaining control over the population. O’s job performance indicates he is overwhelmed by the position. It was probably pretty cool in the days he was smoking weed with his radical buddies and they thought they developed a clear vision of how the world is suppose to be. Problem is, it wasn’t reality!

    • Norm

How about fighting (and sometimes causing) wars everywhere on the planet. Maybe more cash for that?

      • JLR

Yes, you got that right. The Neo-Libs like Obama do love their wars.

      • Claire

Years and years ago I can remember my Mother and my Grandma saying that wars were created for the economy. Well, this one sure didn’t work that way.

      • John

I don’t recall the US starting WWII of which my father is a Veteran of.

      • Fed Up Gal in NM

Interesting how those who never served a day in the military….seem to know “when” to engage (or not) in war! Like a bunch of back seat drivers.

        Fed Up Gal

      • Claire

No, I wasn’t in the military and I know World War II was not initiated because of the economy. I also had relatives in World War II. I was merely stating that my Mother and Grandma used to say this. And I used to wonder about this. There are some wars that are created falsely. Bac seat driver, No, I usually drive.

      • DaveH

The only aspect of a War that would be good for the economy is if it spurred the citizens to be more productive. Otherwise, the other aspects of War are bad for an economy. Think of all the machinery and munitions that are just blown up in a war. And all the soldiers that could be producing goods and services are sidetracked with the war effort.

      • Claire

Hi DaveH—Good explanation. I had always wondered about this particular comment and could not see the rationality of it.

      • James

John, Claire is right, President Franklin D. Roosevelt tried every trick in the book to get Germany to attack one of our ships in the Atlantic, but German subs were under orders not to fire on American ships unless they were under attack. Then FDR spent over a year in imposing sanctions on Japan, which eventually worked in provoking the attack on Pearl Harbor. Several books have now documented that. FDR was a Socialist, while Germany was anti-Communist, that’s why FDR wanted to ally the U.S. with the Soviet Union and crush Germany.

      • Fed Up Gal in NM

        Claire,

Your point is well taken, and your Mom and Grandma could have been on to something.

Respectfully….I wish people would give 2-4 years of their own lives in the military to understand that the men and women in uniform get caught up in another battle (battle of public opinion). Washington calls the shots and the military men and women do their job. It’s likely in every war or conflict that there are many who don’t personally want to support that particular one…but what kind of security would we have if the military members could just pick and choose which war to attend and which ones not? Sorry if my comment offended you; I was just trying to make a point.

        Fed Up Gal

      • Claire

Fed Up Gal in NM—You did not offend me. My son was in the Air Guard and he almost went to Desert Storm. But only a handful were taken from his unit, the 183rd. He worked on the radar in F16s. It seems like they took the guys that had more seniority at the time. I can remember I was at work and the guys in the Print Shop came in and said it was on the radio that the 183rd was called up. I can remember how I felt, I sat there at my desk and God help me, the tears rolled down my face. I called my son and he said he hadn’t heard anything but that he was ready to go. My son asked me if I would take care of his dogs. I was shaking but I could not help myself. As I said, it turned out that he did not have to go. But I thought about the men that did go and their families. The realization of war smacked me right in the face. I will always support our troops and their families. I sincerely appreciate what they do and have always done for America. God bless all of our military soldiers and their families. They are in my heart.

    • JeffH

Warrior, well said. The democrats are so blind with their power in politics right now, they don’t even realize that they do work for the American people, not the other way around. The bus has left and the panic has yet to set in. To me, that is just plain arrogance and direspect for the American people.
With the mid-term elections, I wonder when they will realize that Obama’s support is hurting them rather than helping their elections.
      Oh well, shake it off.
Do your research well and vote wisley, America’s future depends on it.

  • LauraMaeRN

Yes carter was the typical Left Wing Whimp

  • http://PersonalLibertyDigest Jeanette

I can see why is rating has gone done he is untruthful, arrogant and wants his way. He just is not a good President. His Administration is just like him. They want to put GOD OUT OF EVERYTHING and you don’t mess with GOD. They need to look to him for their help. BECAUSE GOD IS IN CONTROL NOT OBAMA OR HIS ADMINISTRATION.

    • Norm

Maybe we need sombody like Pat Robertson for president. Now there is a piece of work.

      • JLR

Now that just sounds crazy, he may be a little too Christian for us. He would surely not continue this perpetual tax and spend. Although his comment on Haiti was wrong and he should apologize, he has done more the Haitians than Obama will ever do. Obama sent Bush and Clinton to help, the very guys who have brought tyranny to those innocent people in the first place. At least Robertson has been helping them personally instead worrying about his power over the American idiot.

      • A DEMOCRAT NO MORE

I suppose you like the views of Rev Wright and Al Sharpton Jesse Jackson and all those other pundits. Where they will agree to like & promote you no matter what you’ve done, (VIC, Obama etc)just because they are black> It dosent matter what they have done they stand behind them just because of the color of their skin, and that is sooo sooo very sad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That in and of itself is racist.

        NORM…..NORM….GET A GRIP

  • LES

Remember 40 % of the population are on entitlements or welfare which Obama is expanding, so that is where 40 % of the 46 % is coming from.

    • Raggs

May I add special interest groups and unions which make up for majority of his support.

      • A DEMOCRAT NO MORE

You also have forgotten about the push to legalize all the illegals in this country. That is the Obama Admin selling out our country for votes!!! for the first time since I have been a Dem I voted for McCain because I did’t drink the kool aide. Norm You have to wake
        up!!!!! I did.

      • JeffH

A DEMOCRAT NO MORE…remember, the liberal left and the Obama dem have a long memory with built in excuses…Reagan and illegals, Bush, Cheney, etc. Like a child that is jealous, there is no rationality put into their thoughts. That is how they will justify legalizing illegals along with a deep underlying need of the democrats to buy the votes of 12+ millions.
BIG GOVERMENT is breaking this country, Democrats and Republicans alike. If one doesn’t restrict themself to tow “the party line” and think independently about what is best for America as a whole rather than just relying on government to make all of the decisions for you, one might step back and have a differant view. So many Americans have realized the “CHANGES” they voted for are not the changes they are getting. Health Care Reform is the biggest and best example. This administration wants to destroy the middle class because the poor have to rely on the government and the rich don’t need it. To continue to give, give, give and expecting the taxpayers to keep paying more, more, more does not solve the problems. Sometimes it is just better to shut the door, tighten the belts and work openly, together, to solve the problems we are faceing now. So much for promises of transparency and openess and working together. You tell the lie too many times, sooner than later nobody will believe.

        Jeff H,

        Right on target, friend!

        Fed Up Gal

      • DaveH

        Welcome Back JeffH.

      • DaveH

I’m guessing Obama’s next move will be to annex Haiti. Of course, it will be for “humanitarian” reasons.

      • JeffH

Thanks guys and gals. Change is in the air as we speak. Hugo Chavez, Obama’s friend, has denounced the US as militarily taking over in Haiti. A tragedy no doubt, but where was all the MSM hoopla during the devastating earthquakes in the other countries…all of a sudden Haiti is this nations priority to Michelle O and her husbands MSM. Once again the American people step up to the plate and donate, voluntarily, with the exception of $100 mil of our tax money.

      • David

Luckily unions only comprise 7% of industry, because we get it and we have educated our people what unions really mean to them….it’s those services sectors we need to go after next. SEIU is way up o’s butt

      • Fed Up Gal in NM

        David,

Right On! I used to be a Union Steward as well as Union President. I believe Unions were created for good cause, but like a lot of other things (mainly politicians)….good causes and good people can and will unfortunately more times than not…sell out to get something that only benefits them or their group. I’ve found that Unions are sometimes as (if not more) corrupt than the agencies or companies they are battling. This equates to simple greed!

I wonder also why Toyota can seem to put out a great line of automobiles without a Union? Unions have to realize that when the American people finally get fed up with supporting their sometimes unrealistic issues….it will affect their bottom line (as is being seen right now).

        Fed Up Gal

      • DaveH

        Gal,
I wish I could share your sentiment, but I don’t believe Unions ever served a good cause. Forcing one’s way on other people is never a good cause. In a free market, if a person doesn’t think working conditions are right, he or she can start their own competing business.
I do believe that people should be free to organize, but impeding the hiring of replacement workers or harassing customers is not included in that freedom.

      • Fed Up Gal in NM

        Dave H,

You know Dave…you and I usually end up agreeing on more than we disagree on. I agree with your comment here (for the most part). Where we disagree is whether they may have served a useful purpose at one time. From my perspective… I do think when unions were created, they were intended for good…back then a lot of folks were in a catch 22 position…and could not leave a job and start a business. Remember back then…Uncle didn’t pay to retrain you or to send you to finish school….like it does now (at an alarming rate I might add). Again, you right about Unions now….they’re corrupt for the most part! I think we’re at least on the same page, even if not on the same paragraph :-) .

        Fed Up Gal

  • Matty

Poor Norm, angry man that you are. Truth sometimes hurts, and if you’re a follower of this empty suit of a president, I can understand where your anger is coming from. What you need to do now is try to get a grip on reality. Your man will never see 60 percent again, not even 50. The economy will be in the tank until our next president is in office, which is three more years. Many of the sheeple have seen the light, come on over Norm. Help us make America great again, be proud to be living in the greatest country ever known to man.

    • Norm

I agree Bush really did a number on the economy.

      • JLR

I did not like Bush and his lies, nor his Patriot Act either. That Obama has continued Bush’s tyranny and even accelerated it is obvious unless you just landed here yesterday morning. Afghanistan will be perpetual, Gitmo will never close, Iraq was invaded and the Neo-Libs were part and parcel in these Wars. The Neo-Libs played the, we were against this war, political expedient game all the while amassing power over their constituency. They were for these wars from the beginning and lied only whence they thought it would save them face. If you believe any of these career politicians want not control but what is good for the people then you must believe in fairy tales, as well.

      • DaveH

Well, he doesn’t believe in “The Goose that Laid the Golden Eggs”.

      • JLR

Obama has installed Patriot Act II all by himself, under no force by any Repukelican. The Bush tax cuts were intended toward the working class, maybe just a feel good thing from his admin, and they worked. I received my taxes back plus some, what did you not get yours?
To say our economy was not happy with Bush’s policies(Pre 2008) is to blindly ignore facts and no one will believe you, our economy was booming. Do not misinterpret this for support, he bankrupted our liberties, but maybe that is all a Neo-con understands. The failed policies of housing market forced loans was the first bubble, thanks to Frank, Clinton and gang.

      • JLR

Funny how, even though he hardly ever voted more than present, before the messiah’s election he gained large profits from the quasi governmental agencies who were ultimately responsible for the recent depression. They call it a recession despite the coming hyper-inflation because they want to get while the getting is good. The messiah will profit for years to came off of your refusal to see the truth. End The Fed!

      • John

And so has Obama and he’s just beginning. Inflation anyone???

  • Alan

Obama’s downfall has not just been contributed to by his failure as a leader but accelerated by his preference to behave more as an entertainer or popular personality. He seems to be ignorant of his responsibilty which he accepted when he took the presidential oath.

  • Joseph

Norm is a retard! Time to clean out Washington ASAP!

    • Norm

      Sticks and stones….
You sound like a third grader.

      • DaveH

Listen to you. The pot calling the kettle black. I must say that in the past you pretty much stayed away from the typical Liberal tactics of name-calling, ridicule, and condescension. But you have really fallen off the wagon on this page.

  • Alan

As we experience the repeat of the Carter presidency, let us also recall the remedy to that blotch in our political history. Further, we need to recover from not just the 0bama presidency but from the 48 years of demcrat led socialism which has defined this presidency. The long decades of statism have clearly shown the model does not work and the more of peoples’ income they can keep and accumulate the better off society is in general.

  • Warrior

I don’t even believe the 46% figure is close to accurate.

    • Diane

I agree. Approval rate is probably more like 20%. The amount of radical liberals in this country.

      • Norm

        Diane
There’s something about truth and reality which seems to elude you right wing extremeists.

      • FreeAmericaNow…Please

        Norm,

Just one question, are you an ostrich, or just that ignorant? You need to step outside of your little box and see the big picture. Good luck with that.

      • Norm

If you get away from hate radio long enough you might see how screwed up your beliefs are. Have you heard Rush’s views on Haiti by the way?

Why yes Norm, I have. Of course YOUR verions is tripe, but the WHOLE version is, Rush doesn’t trust Obama’s corrupt appointments to get the relief to the Haitian people. HE says donate directly to the relief agencies. Now, what was YOUR version of Rush’s statement? LOL, Fantasy World and Projection. Categories of Dementia, and you have that disease alright. Don’t worry, although that dementia WILL get worse as you get older, the Schizophrenia part will allow you to really get into Fantasy. It’s your only saving grace as it’s obvious Reality really suxors for you, LOL.

      • JLR

This is journalistic dishonesty at it’s finest, Norm. Rush Limbaugh said what he said and they not only took it out of context, they flat out lied about what he said. Now, Clinton comments(to the late Kennedy I believe) on how Obama would have been serving his drinks back in the day, which does not need any context at all, and they never make a peep. The MSM is shameless and will pay for their sins against the American people very soon.
Is that the media you go to Norm? If these are the facts you go on then don’t come back to the table. Alas, Alan Colmes will educate you on the epitome of liberal debate or badgering. Not that he is not a left wing wind bag with a hate for truth or righteousness, but still at least he debates well. I can’t stand this from a radio talk show host: yell down your opponent with these words “Stop Yelling down your opponent you _____ (fill in the blank with any political affiliation!” These are the tactics of a fool. Colmes uses this hypocritical tact oft and well.

      • Norm

Controversial conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh is defending earlier comments in which he accused President Obama of using the disaster in Haiti for political gain.

“I do believe that everything is political to this president,” Limbaugh said on his radio show yesterday. “Everything this president sees is a political opportunity, including Haiti, and he will use it to burnish his credentials with minorities in this country and around the world, and to accuse Republicans of having no compassion.”

President Obama has dedicated $100 million for immediate relief efforts in Haiti, calling it a “top priority.”

The president has not politicized the matter or criticized Republicans’ response to the disaster. Republicans, in fact, have largely expressed their support for the president’s efforts.

      • John

        Norm,

        Hate radio???

        What is Moveon.org???

Or the liar Keith Olberman all about???

        You are an ignorant fool.

        My Dear Norm,

Your missing the point, that we americans are not going to be sold out to you dem’s to buy our FREEDOM, and become a socialist communist country under this so called OBAMA world, he will never step his foot in OUR WHITE HOUSE AGAIN, and you can believe that, and he is not an american and never will be …..I’m a veteran, one of the lucky ones that came back in one piece, so many died for this country, OBAMA is not going to destroy this country, he won’t be president much longer, this is the greatest nation in the world, I love it with all my heart and soul, and anyone that doesn’t PLEASE get out…..

      • Norm

What makes you think “our whitehouse” is your whitehose.
You represent a minority viewpoint. Get it?

      • Norm

A lot of people sacrificed for this country and they don’t all share your beliefs.

      • WinstonWolf

Like you sir I am a vet. And we did buy our freedom — WITH THE BLOOD OF OUR MEN AND WOMEN— God Bless this country Thank you Sir

      • RoBoTech

I sacrificed for this Country on March 29, 1972, Easter offensive. I have a Bronze Star, and Purple Heart with clusters. Oh yeah and letters from TWO presidents that awarded them to me. What YOU got? That’s what I thought. And YOU just don’t get it. YOU are in the minority Nor boy. I know that fog in your Liberal brain just won’t allow you to process that FACT, but a FACT, it is. WOW, This is too easy. Spanking a clueless Liberal is NO fun. There’s just no defense for stupidity. I am going to go where the Liberals at least have some Intellectual Honesty. This norboy is useless.

      • RoBoTech

And Stanley, I wasn’t talking to you Sir, but to the LaLaLand Liberal A.B. Norm-al. I am done with him as I have come to realize he is clueless and a frequent troll, so every one already knows he’s clueless and don’t need me saying so. I have other blogs to spank Libbies on, and A.B. Norm-al offers no challenge, just tired old 2008 Liberal talking points. Been there done that, time for some NEW arguments. Bush did it is a losing Strategy.

      • LauraMaeRN

We are extremists because we dont want BIG government making all the dicisions for us? What happens when the government gets BIGGER and MORE EXTEME? We have to keep our government small and under OUR power lest it take us out. I know its the Easy way out to let government do EVERYTHING for us but it is WRONG and is NOT what our forfathers had intended. We have been warned and witnessed throughout history how BIG GOVERNMENT suppresses its people.

      • David

20% of the population (liberals) does 80% of the complaining. Norm and his liberal friends are about to be crushed and they are just lashing out while they can.

  • JR

Hasn’t any one learned from the past? The young kids today who no nothing of the long gas lines and how we fought to keep government out of our lives today, have been so pampered by the hippies that cradle to grave is all they seek……. I worked hard all my life to live the life style of today, with jobs out there how do I continue to take care of myself… To sit back and feel my ass grow and let my kids and the kids of others pay for my health and well being is total disgrace to the American people.

Folks do for your self and your children, stop being lazy and selfish. Government is not the answer it is the problem… live free and as you wish. Americans can do the jobs and care for our people of this great nation……………. JR

    • LauraMaeRN

Exactly, young people today are lazy and want everything handed to them on a silver plater and if they think uncle sam will take care of them they will vote for MORE Uncle sam, until Uncle Sam is completely in control of our lives and we live in a communist country. IT starts with the small stuff and grows and grows. We need to be in charge of our government and keep it as small as possible.

      • Alan Clark

Here’s one for ya…we all move to the barter system where you trade goods at a co-op owned by you and your neighbors. Even things like medical supplies and such can be purchased. In fact, if a group of people would seriously think about it they coud get by pretty dam good this way and the beauty of the whole thig is that it cuts off what the government wants most….TAX DOLLARS….HHMMMM

    • John

      JR,

You are correct. I’m 56 years old and have worked since I was 13 and earned my own health insurance when I was 18. I also have 2 college degrees that I have earned and I am still working HARD to earn a living in this economy.

I loath lazy people that expect the Government too take care of them.

Get a job, Get a life or Shut-up!!!

  • Paul

Yes, Reagan received a bad rap (as though he were the cause) from lingering economic policies of Carter. Interesting how Clinton gets credited with the hard work Reagan did to get things back on target. Things take time. Now Democrats try to pin a bad economy on Bush alone, not willing to admit to admit the main cause was a democratic congress who refused to address mandated excesses in housing loans. It was not Bush who destroyed our economy; it is the result of neglect and bad policy of a Democratic congress. A freed economy is the only hope of recovery and improved ratings. Let’s watch history repeat itself again!

    • Norm

Of course it wasn’t Bush. When he had a majority congress it was still those Democrats.

      • JLR

It is as if we get what we deserve because we asked for it.
The Bush economic policies worked well until 2007 when the housing debacle started by the Democrats in the Clinton years came to fruition, these risky loans to people who could not afford them were bloated in value, prices were inflated, risks were all bore by the banks which is convenient for the extortionists because later they blamed Bush and the banks, and even loans were extorted from banks by the likes of Frank under the threat of regulation(another word for legalized criminal control of otherwise functional free market principal) which is now so obvious even you can see this. Simple math applies whether we want it to or not, the Keynesian school is absurdly contrary to logic. You owe 10 and then you borrow 10 more to pay the first ten, you then owe 20. The keynesian model says you can print it if you are a government and you now pay the ten (You can spend ten elsewhere with this model as well since you own the printer) and owe nothing to anyone, all the while promoting progressive policies and controlling the foolish who believe you do it for their good. Salt it with redistribution from the wealthy to the poor and tell the poor you work for their good and now you have throngs of cradle to gravers who vote for you endlessly.
This is not the American way and this is not why we broke the monarchy’s hold over our economy. The disgusting part is the people continually vote for the very perpetrators of these broken and failed policies even when they say they believe in these policies of failure.

      • JLR

Abolish the IRS, end the Fed and downsize government before it is too late. As we speak, blame is a losing game, we still control this nation. If we keep arguing the far left will inevitable take advantage of our division and rule us with more restriction than the Crown in 1774. The Fed controls our money and our Congress thereby! Even Obama took the money this can be proven through a simple online search(Unless they removed all articles to this effect like Snopes did his certificate of live birth). If he had not then he would have come out against the Fed already, this would be a respectable Democrat I would have voted for, but he only went after the AIG execs. whom worked within the system legally(Contract is the basis of all law). Incidentally Obama and his admin let them take these bonuses in the first place.

      • John

        Norm,
You keep missing the point. The Democrats were NOT as radical as they are NOW.

And Jack where should we get our news from MSNBC???

  • Strawberry Shortcake

Approval of what response? That it took him a number of days and a couple revisions to the nature of his “response”? Stop cutting this moron breaks. It WAS NOT handled at all. Is anyone paying attention? There should be outrage over the fact that this man even got on board. Outrage that he’s even being given the courtesy of due process. How is he able to plead not guilty? Was he not caught red handed in an act of terror? Pathetic. Remember Mr. Obama felt it necessary to not use the words terrorists or terror. That tells you where he stands in my humble opinion. What may have happened if that man succeeded in blowing up the plane? Would America still feel like it was handled properly then? How about Janet, she still got her job? If it were any of us that ” fell through the cracks” in our jobs I highly doubt we would still be employed. That may have said something about an appropriate response. This administration is an embarrassment and a disgrace to the American people. Obama should be giddy with joy to have a 46% approval rating, I can’t believe it’s that high. I don’t know about you all but I’m a bit beyond tired of just sitting and waiting to find out the next way these traitors in Washington are going to dictate the quality of our lives…I’m sorry, the plummetting of the quality. I could have sworn this was supposed to be a Republic? Power breeds corruption….sooner or later. It is time to reset.

    • Norm

Luckily miss Shortcake you represent only one small radical, disloyal, segment of the voters.

      • FreeAmericaNow…Please

Norm – Actually, you are the minority here – if his rating is 46% (and I agree with Strawberry Shortcake that is wayyyyyy too high) – Obama should be thankful, and that proves that if you are within those that bow to him, you are the traitor. He should be impeached, and quickly before he and his followers can do any more damage. Those who want to keep a free America need to keep speaking up and show that real patriotism and belief in a free Republic can still be.

      • LauraMaeRN

Absolutely! Obama and Dems are destroying our nation and making us socialist. If we follow that path we will be in big trouble. Communism = Poverty and opression. Just ask China about their Green Dam.

      • A DEMOCRAT NO MORE

We are the ones that are loyal. Loyal to our Country and constitution.

      • RoBoTech

Keep in denial nor man. It will just be easier to side step your foolishness. YOU are in the Minority Liberal. only 21% own up to be Liberal in America. And YOU want to talk about a “small vocal minority”? Fantasy World bubba, fantasy world.

      • BOE

no Norm Shortcake is not 1 of a few. There are millions of us that are of the same conclusion as Short Cake. You need to pay attention to what is going on. Americans are not going to take much more.

      • Strawberry Shortcake

Uh Norm….did you make it through basic math? 46% is the percentage that the poll said approves of your president, that means it’s lowwwerr, and that makes you sir, the minority.

As for my loyalties, they lie with the Constitution and those that will uphold it. I do not take lightly those that have paid the ultimate price to create and protect it. If your loyalty lies anywhere else that allows it to be violated or those deaths to have been in vain then you do not deserve your freedoms.

    • http://WindowsInternetExplorer Dona Solomon

Imagine what the headlines and response would be, had this terrorist been successful! That is how we need to look at this. Know anyone on the plane? Thank God that a brave individual had the smarts and ability to act quickly! Big Business runs this Country, don’t ever forget it! We need to clean Congress out and reduce the size of government. We don’t need to have government run our business or tell us what to do. We need to cut the freeloaders off and stop using taxpayer money to fix their mistakes. Learn and then EARN!

  • John

The Crisis is jobs which cannot be easily fixed. So Pres. Obama created another crisis healthcare which when and if it’s pass will show it’s results good or bad in about 10 years. The biggest benefictor of health care will be the unions which will organize the government run sector. The unions which are a large part of the problem in this country’s industry leaving are now being givin so much power that in 10 years more industry will be gone. But no problem for the unions as the government employees now account for more members than the private sector. So the unions demand more pay from the government, unions pay more money to the candidates and once elected most support the government unionized workers. We need real answers to the issues we face not someone reading off a telepromter with messages that sound great but have no relevence in America.

      Finally, someone whe “gets it”……….

Why can`t people who collect welfare, food stamps, and free housing go to work and pay taxes. We hard working folks can longer afford to keep them up. Of couse if you are challenged in some way..like too stupid and are unable to work..well then you should not be having sex and reproducing. I`ve had enough of this sorry country.

      • Claire

Boe—Your comment is blunt, to the point and so true. So many people on welfare and some keep having babies to keep getting the welfare checks. I know several people that do not want to go back to work, it is too easy being unemployed and drawing their unemployment checks. I am sick of this too.

We’ve done ok with gov. motors. Compare their sales to Toyota last year. I wish Ford had reorganized and dumped the stupid unions.

We need not only real answers but a real leader not an inept, socialist minded one.

      • DaveH

WASHINGTON — As former President George W. Bush’s helicopter whisked him from the Capitol over the 2 million people on the National Mall to Andrews Air Force Base, parts of the crowd burst into a riff of “Nah nah nah nah, hey hey hey, goodbye,” a song usually reserved for losing sports teams.

Bush left the presidency with the lowest approval rating of any president except Richard Nixon, according to a new New York Times/CBS poll, which put Bush’s final rating at 22 percent.

    • David

Just wait until your president leaves…..in three years.

      • George

        Viktor,

I’m with you, but I doubt George Bush would accept the office unless there was no other choice. He’s had his time in DC, and I think he’s done with it. He’s not really a career politician, and doesn’t enjoy the bantering and games-playing that goes on between the political parties. I am pretty sure he’s done trying to work with most liberals, who did everything they could for 8 years to mislead, distort, and falsify his record for short term political gain. Who needs it? Let someone else have their term in the barrel…..

      • DaveH

Please, Guys, I’m getting nauseous. We can’t afford any more Government growth, whether under a RINO, or under a Marxist.

      • George

You’re correct, of course. I’m trying to figure out what was said to stimulate that comment, however.

  • Norm

History repeats itself. For those cheering Neocons who forgot:

Reagan came into office on a fairly high note, with initial job approval ratings as high as 60% by mid-March 1981. Then, on March 30, Reagan was shot on the streets of Washington by John Hinckley Jr., and the resulting concern and sympathy helped lift his ratings to 68% by May. But even as Reagan personally recovered from his wounds, the public’s concerns about the bad economy did not, and the president’s ratings began to fall as each month went by.

By the end of 1981, Reagan’s job approval rating had drifted down to 49%.

Things got worse for Reagan in 1982. The public’s view of the economy remained sour, and the president’s ratings during 1982 stayed concomitantly low, in the 40% range, ending the year at 41%. The 1982 midterm elections were not good ones for Reagan and for the GOP. The Republicans lost about 25 seats in the House.

A clear cause for all of this was the economy.

    • http://victorbarney@embarqmail.com Victor L Barney

Yes, Because of the previous “Marxist” Carter the economy was in the dumps for a full year or more after Reagan got into office, but once he started to correct the attempted Marxism takeover, the economy rebounded within a couple of years to last twenty years! Now, Marxism has failed again and has brought us in an actual Depression (Note: Marxism was started by the 3rd degree “Mason brothers” the Bush father and son team)and insult on injury then added by the self-proclaimed Marxist, Obama)! The “fix” in the current economy will begin to turn around in February, 2012; so I’m not sure how this will occur under Marxism? Reagan only bought us time, but I believe that Obama was prophetic when he said I will fundamentally change our system of government! Next, the beginning of the biblical “Jacob’s trouble!”

      • Jay

For all those out there who don’t know what “Jacob’s Trouble” is, it’s more commonly known to born-again Christians as the “Tribulation,” and details can be found in the book of Revelation from the Bible. Everyone, please open your eyes to the prophetic signs around us today. 2 Thessolonians, chapter 2 is happening right before out eyes and began before Obama was elected. It states that God will send a delusion upon those who are to perish so that they’ll believe what is false, which in turn means that they’ll not believe what is true. Obama was elected because people believed lies and not the truth, the greatest of these being the myth that man is causing global warming. People who believe this myth are totally under the delusion and are sadly on their way to perishing.

Another huge prophetic sign happening right before our eyes, is hyperinflation, where your money will suddenly become worthless. Hang on to your guns because you gonna need them for this. I hope all who read this consider what this really means, because when it happens, and it’s not a question of “if it happens” but when it will happen, Obama will declare martial law to control the chaos that’ll occur and postpone all elections indefinitely. By the way, Obama’s already begun getting ready for this by issuing an order to one of his generals to amass an army of one million soldiers here in the U.S., and that information was picked up from Russian sources, not the right-wing blogs. God help us in the next two years.

      • sheilah

Just interested to know where you got your info. If it is true then it needs to be said, but if not then you are going to cause a lot of problems for people. Can you show proof as to what you have said about Obama calling in on martial law? Please show your proof as the American people need to be prepared.

Sheilah, you can find your answer here: http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/executive-order-amending-executive-order-12425

You don’t have to worry about any “proof” since this is just another backlash mentality lie. But true to form, those that believe in and distort reality with conspiracy theories (like this one) – never have to offer proof. Only because they are preaching to those that think just like them. Conspiracy thinking is nothing but “poison” to “unfertile” minds. They are unfortuately spread and believed by unintelligent minds.

      • Jay

Give me your email. I’ll send you the documentation……..Jay

      • DaveH

        Rod,
Much like the Liberal promises are “spread and believed by unintelligent minds”.

      • Jay

This is my email for those who would like me to send them the documentation about Obama’s orders to one of his generals to quietly amass an army of one million men: jaybob.1@netzero.net

      • Joe H.

        Jay,
While I distrust O-man as much as any and am as disgusted by his crapper politics as any, I doubt he could Amass an army of one million and still keep the levels any where near what they are now in foreign countries. If it is true, God bless ya’ for letting us know, but if it isn’t then as Wright would say about our wonderful, beautiful country, then G-D you for spreading a lie thats going to make conservatives look bad!!! We already have an up-hill battle without lies making us look like kooks!!!

      • Jack

I don’t understand why so many people who call themselves Conservatives, Libertarians and/or Republicans are so misinformed. Folks, for your sake, the sake of your families and our great nation you have to stop getting all of your information from Fox News, the Glenn Becks and Rush Limbaughs of the world. They feed you a lot of BS that you just swallow. If you would take just a few minutes to fact check what they are telling you, you would find that they frequently mislead.

I have been a Goldwater conservative Republican since before I could register to vote in 1968. So called conservatives like Beck and Limbaugh are nothing but corporate shills who will say and do anything to help the rich and powerful who pay or might pay them the millions they take, regardless as to what it does to the vast majority of the people in this country.

Reagan was no hero; he didn’t work miracles with the economy. He cut taxes for the richest people but actually raised them on the average folks. Have you folks forgotten the recession in 1986-87 or the one in 1991-1992. He started this country down the road to the huge deficits that we now have along with his policies of free trade and deregulation even Clinton continued them) that has led to the mess we are now in.

You can’t be a socialist and a communist at the same time. We don’t have socialism in this country. What we have is corporatism where the large corporations and the very rich exercise control over the government.

Obama’s approval numbers have tanked because he has abandoned his base
and they feel betrayed. He campaigned as a reformer but is governing as a corporatist. That’s why in fairly recent polling, over 40% of the people who identified themselves as Democrats said they either didn’t plan on or definitely weren’t going to vote in the midterm elections this year.

      • ROD OH

Jack, Let me try to help answer your question. Read Thomas Franks book “The Wrecking Crew”. It lays out how top conservatives like Grover Norquist, Jack Abramoff, Tom Delay (and even Newt Gringrich to some extent) have concocted and executed a plan to cause the less educated, disaffected and disenchanted of the United States to hate and fear the one entity that always protected the middle class – our government -at least into the middle seventies. Ever since then they have defunded much of the good government that existed with poor leadership when they have been in power. They have done that in many ways to make the government look bad while they and their corporate “buddies” got filthy rich. And guess what happened to the middle class. They “bought into” all the lies, misnformation, negativity and conspiracy theories and hating and mistrusting the government and it just became a self-fulfilling prophecy” after a while. It did not matter how stagnant their wages got or how their employers kept taking away their benefits or kept taking their jobs to other countries because by this time it was all the “governments, socialists and liberals” fault. They simply created a “bogeyman” that never existed. All they did was tap into their hate, prejudices and lower economic status with lies, distortions, misinformation – and best of all “conspiracy theories”. And guess what happened? The people stupidly kept voting for the very same conservative politicians who pander to these rich, elite conservatives and their powerful corporation lobbies. Pretty smart of them, wouldn’t you say? Except look what it has done to our country attitude wise. And these same conservative scoundrels are now getting away with no financial reform because they have the “disaffected unintelligent masses” distracted once again, loathing in their own negativity, pessimism and downright hate. This is the main reason that I will never vote Republican/Conservative ever again. These people have no clue of the real problems facing and how we need positive, progressive solutions for them. But please read Thomas Frank’s book. It is excellent in explaining this “backlash phenomenon”.

        Jack,

It seems your last paragraph may have said it all….the FLL’s are a “my way or the highway” kind….so they threaten to “not vote”.

And….as far as your thought about Fox News, Beck and Limbaugh; I use to listen to ABC, CBS, NBC, etc…..but they rarely offer dissenting viewpoints…..at least Fox offers a more balanced take on the issues….allowing the viewers to make up their own mind…instead of receiving a “MSM” implant.

AMEN! Fox is the ONLY real honest news! With the conservatives having ONLY Fox, I wish they WEREN’T so “fair & balanced” so they could balance out ALL the other “MSM” being completely BIASED to the liberal progressive (& admitted Socialists)distortions or elimination of the truth.

        Fed Up Gal in NM,
Not only do they not show dissenting arguments, they rarely, if ever, show the real news!!! 14 or fifteen days of Tiger this, and Tiger that were much more than I as an occasional “checker” could take!!!! Show me news or go the way of Air America!!!!!

        Jack,
Do you even know what Libertarians stand for? When you lump us in with right-wingers, I am lead to believe you don’t.
Crony Capitalism knows no party lines. Both Democrats and Republicans are guilty of corporate favoritism.
Libertarians believe in markets free of government meddling except to protect the public from fraudulant activities.

        Jack,

The eternal struggle in democratic politics now, and probably always will be, between the citizens votes and the political lobby’s money for influence over our political representatives’ attention, time, and resources. In the end, our votes trump the lobbist’s money when we bring the two into conflict. The politicans, of course, will try to find a way of getting both when they can. A couple of the ways they’ve accomplished this in the past are by 1) accepting campaign contributions which are used to market their campaigns to win our votes, and 2) provide “give-away” programs to citizens to win votes.

I’m pretty sure it doesn’t matter who we send to Washington, regardless of party affiliation, political philosophies, or best intentions when they go, eventually they’ll all become corrupted by the process if they stay long enough. We just can’t put people in that kind of situation and expect any different result. It would, of course, help if we sent honest people who share our values and believe in limited government in the first place. I think that’s where “the train jumped track” this time. We’ve sent a lot of folks who really want to change our system into something we never thought possible in the past, and are having trouble facing today.

I think it’s very important that we continue our oversight effort like the Tea Party is currently providing to keep our conservative and libertarian politicians on the track we want them to be on. Without this, our politicians will eventually become overcome by the power of the money, influence, and corruption.

You’re a real optimist. Your “repression happened while one of your evident heroes, on Comrade Bill Klinton’s watch.

Communist Russia tried SOCIALISM for decades and then finally realized it wasn’t working. That kills your “we can’t have communism and socialism at the same time” bullshit.

Get your head out, and start looking at the path ol Purple Lips, with the jug ears, is taking us. MARXISM IS SOCIALISM, fella, and that’s what ol PL is claiming to be… a Marxist.

And he’s not the only one. Little Jimmy, Miss Lillian’s little boy, is a socialist and Comrade Hillbillery and Slick Willie are Marxists.

When you finally pull your head out, look around, AFTER you wake up!

No need to reply, you’re an idiot, along with the other fools who put this illegal bastard (born out of wedlock) in there. His father was an adulterer and there never were any divorce papers. I suppose they reside in the same coffers with the non-existent AMERICAN birth certificate.

Jack , It seems like you are one of the people that can’t handle the truth.
You do sound like a person that has to have some one else do his thinking.
Promise me if you ever run for any Gov. office warn us.
At least Fox can back up every remark they make, and have’nt you every wondered why no one that backs omama or obama himself never go on FOX? but they have all been invited.
Try thinking that out all on your own.
        You poor Baby.

Wgere Mr. Barney got the idea the 3rd Degree Masons had anyrthing to do with the Bush era is a real mystery.

I saw no mention of the Masonic Order as a factor.

Methinks Mr. Barney needs to read up on thre Masons.

      • Claire

I agree. My husband is a Mason, and I trust my husband, not some other propaganda.

      • Asad Sulaimaan

Apparently this Victor Barney doesn’t know the difference between “Marxism” and “Fascism”. The way the Bushes were “throwing away” borrowed money on what virtually everyone agrees was a stupid unjustified war makes it a clearly “capitalist” venture. The idea being that a few “military-industrialist”. thought they could capitalize on this conflict (at the cost of millions of casualties)and lining their pockets. Let’s hope Obama stops falling for this nonsense before its too late!

    • Alan

The clear problem was and is the economy. In both cases, now and then, the economy is dragged down by the cost of an omnipresent and costly government presence. The clear choice before us is the continuation of 48 years of failed socialism or the overthrow of this failed statist model. People (those who work and pay taxes) can no longer be expected to support this model of governance which is obviously obsolete. The Soviets demonstrated this much at great expesne to themselves and the world as well.

    • RICH

Thanks for the history lesson.Obama Is A Loser as Are The MentallY Deficient People like you………Who voted For This “NEVER HAD A JOB” PHONY Socialist And Commie lover’!

    • Tinwarble

      Norm,

You forget the most important part though, Reagan did the exact opposite of what Obama is doing now. Reagan built up our military, enacted deregulation and shrank government which began economic growth by his 2nd term. Where as Obama is, at the least, stifling the military, enacting over regulation and growing government beyond what anyone has ever done, and the only part of the economy that is growing is in the government sector. Also, under Obama, unemployment is higher than under Reagan during the same time in their Presidency and Obama has spent more money than any other President to date.
