Despite Senate Passage, Polls Show Majority Still Oppose Healthcare Bill

January 1, 2010 by

Despite Senate passage, polls show majority still oppose healthcare billEven though the Senate passed the healthcare bill early on Christmas Eve, and despite a recent uptick in support for the overhaul, most Americans remain skeptical about the most sweeping reform of the healthcare system since 1965.

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which will take effect over the next 10 years and cost $871 billion, would reduce the number of uninsured Americans by 31 million and expand the Medicaid program that covers the nation’s poorest. It also provides low and moderate-income families with subsidies to buy insurance, and offers tax credits to small businesses that provide coverage, according to media reports.

However, in a bid to shore up the fragile partisan consensus behind the bill, the Democratic leaders dropped the public insurance option and included restrictions on abortion coverage against the wishes of most liberals.

Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) summarized the outcome by saying that "this bill is not a perfect fix to our healthcare problems, but it will put us on the path to a stable and secure healthcare system," while Senate Minority leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky vowed his caucus will continue to oppose the legislation.

Against that backdrop, two recent polls suggest that most Americans disapprove of the proposal. Specifically, the CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll puts the number of opponents at 56 percent of respondents, while the survey released by Quinnipiac University estimates 53 percent have an unfavorable view of the bill.

Early next year, Congress will begin its task merging the Senate bill with the $1.1 trillion measure approved by the House of Representatives.

I keep telling the G.O.P. they have to be more AGGRESSIVE! This criminal activity has to be STOPPED!

    • Joe H.

      Rod,
When you get your fund raising mail from the GOP just write a note and tell them that you will not send one cent to them till they run a TRUE conservative!!! I have done that with three or four now, and will do it with all they send till they do!!!!

      • Claire

Joe H—I have been doing this for quite some time. But I keep getting their mailings asking for donations so they obviously do not read.

    • JC

Guys n Gals…when will we all understand? The GOP and the Dems are participating in the same bought and paid for system. Stop playing their game. Civil disobedience, an NRA membership, a Libertarian (or any other constitutional party) membership are all small ways to let them know what America is thinking.

  • Rod

Here is what all of you need to hear NOW! It’s very important! Barack O-bum-a just signed an amendment that has fundamentally altered your Constitutional rights.
If you think you have been scared before, you must read this. It’s an amerndment to executive order (12425). O-bum-a’s actions undermine your rights to protect personal privacy from a forign internationalist police agency named INTERPOL. You will not even be allowed to know what the charges are against you when they show up at your door.

I think it’s time the American people stop this crap. The dude in the Whitehouse isn’t a traitor because you have to be a citizen to be a traitor. However, you can be a TERROREST!

    • Normal Guy

      Rod

More paranoia from people that can’t research beliefs. There is nothing to fear here, interpol is not a police force.

INTERPOL is not an international law enforcement agency. As stated above, INTERPOL facilitates cross-border police co-operation regarding criminal acts that are international in scope. For instance, INTERPOL would have been contacted when the Nigerian national, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, tried to blow up Northwest/Delta flight 253 on approach to the Detroit, Michigan airport. INTERPOL would facilitate the exchange of information between foreign law enforcement agencies with information on Abdulmutallab and U.S. law enforcement agencies seeking that information; INTERPOL is not a law enforcement agency in and of itself; it has no police enforcement power in any of its member countries.

It is true that INTERPOL has been granted complete and utter diplomatic immunity within the borders of the United States. However, diplomatic immunity does not equate to giving INTERPOL police powers over American citizens; diplomatic immunity is only granted if INTERPOL is in good standing and abides by United States law concerning diplomats residing on American soil. If diplomatic immunity is rescinded, due to offenses against the United States or its citizens, the offending party has a choice to either leave the United States immediately or be arrested and prosecuted under American law. Diplomatic status can be revoked for any number of reasons including acts of war, spying, or criminal acts committed under American law. Over the years, diplomatic status has be revoked a number of times for diplomats in this country, resulting in their immediate expulsion from this country.

The claim that “They are not subject to any Constitutional limitations within the United States”; that they can operate “outside of the Constitution” and American law is utterly false. If an INTERPOL agent showed up at your door, he/she would be risking expulsion or prosecution for breach of diplomatic immunity.

      • DaveH

This Normal Liberal Guy cannot be trusted. I suggest you do your own research before you come to any conclusions. Here is one article that I dug up:
        http://www.beaufortobserver.net/interpol.html

      • Claire

Normal Guy–I could not find a “reply” to your last post to me so I am using this one.
I respect your beliefs concerning Obama. But remember, I am in Illinois and there are many concerns that have come to light within this past year, and I cannot condone these concerns. I have enough sense to realize things do not happen immediately. It does take time, but I do not appreciate the way things are being handled, and rushed through without careful consideration and the intelligence I had hoped for. It appears to me that things are being handled in a speedy and careless manner just so everyone can be re-elected including Obama. I do not appreciate the lack of transparency that was promised. I do not believe that this man is the one to do the job. I do not believe he is capable of uniting this country, the Americans, nor Congress. A lot of the people that voted for him are now against him. Therefore, I am not alone in this. I had such high hopes and then reality set in. I would say this regardless of party. It is a shame, but this is the way it is. Therefore, in all good conscience, I will not cast a vote to re-elect him.

    • usmadgirl

      Rod,

I saw the article on the amendment O-bumb-a signed regarding INTERPOL. I hope you see this comment, because I can’t find the article & don’t remember where I saw it. If you know where it is, please post it.

I did find this so you & “Normal Guy” can hash it out:

      http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2009/12/you_have_to_watch_these_guys_e.html

    • Tinwarble

Well, as much as I hate to say it, Normal Guy is right. Interpol is not a police enforcement agency. It is a network of member law enforcement agencies. However, he is wrong, in that Executive order 12425 does give immunity from American Law & the U.S. Constitution.
Here is the text which now applies to INTERPOL:

      (c) Property and assets of international organizations, wherever located and by whomsoever held, shall be immune from search, unless such immunity be expressly waived, and from confiscation. The archives of international organizations shall be inviolable (secure from assault or trespass).

This means any information gathered by INTERPOL or any member of INTERPOL, weather it was obtained legally or not is not subject to prosecution & can not be obtained through the Freedom of Information Act or any other means. What this means is that if someone wanted to hide information about something, all they would have to do is give it to INTERPOL & no one could get it.

    • Tinwarble

OH, I forgot, Rod is also right about someone showing up at your door, because, even though INTERPOL is not a police agency, the U.S. Department of Justice is a member. So, you could have DOJ show up on your door step. And guess what, not so Normal Guy, you wouldn’t even have the right to know why you are sitting in that nice Federal jail cell with the 300 lb. guy named Bubba calling you princess.

  • JanO

I wonder if we could get a mass amount of patriots & chip in to hire the best constitutional lawyer to represent We the People? So much of what Obama & the progressives are doing smack of illegal & unconstitutional laws. We have a constitution, let’s make these polititions abide by it!

    • Michael F.

You’d think that if there are Constitutional lawyers out there with the same views that they would take this on pro bono for love of country and not the dollar amount they could receive.

      • JanO

Unfortuneatly that is not the way the world turns. It takes a bunch of money to file these actions in the courts, Phil Berg can tell you all about that & he is still trying to get the courts to make Obama produce his original, actual Birth Certificate. Obama is spending millions to fight it.

    • http://aol Don

Name me a politician that use “We the People.”

    • JC

Law schools don’t teach Constitutional law, they teach “interpretations” of the Constitution. These interpretations are what have lead to the mess we jokingly call a justice system.

    • Tinwarble

Here’s another solution. Get a Petition up to send to your state legislator’s to Call for a Constitutional Convention. Under this (if you want to know more look here http://www.usconstitution.net/constam.html#process)we could amend the Constitution to set term limits on the members of Congress.
A Constitutional Convention will probable never happen, since it never has, but if enough people were to petition, the threat its self might be enough to stop Congress from its Un-Constitutional Practices.

  • Claire

I need to ask a question: What is it with the Kool-Aid crap? It is so childish. According to these posts, Democrats drink Kool-Aid. What do the Republicans drink? Gatorade? Not hardly. The “gator” part fits though.
Now, throw your comments my way. I’m ready.

    • JanO

      How old are you Claire?

      • Claire

I am as old as you want me to be.

      • JanO

Old enpough to have had a few decades of experience.

      • Claire

JanO–yes, many years. I have arrived to the point where I believe I have “seen” it all. Decades of experience—I hope so. I have seen politicians come and go, and the amazing part of it all is that none of them stands out as being “great.” They all had/have a skeleton in their closet, there is/was always something that had a kink in it. None of them were perfect, none of them will be perfect. I used to always think “this guy sounds great” but then it would backfire. I am to the point where I no longer have any faith in the politicians we have now nor the ones we will acquire in the future. There is so much corruption and greed in both parties that I do not believe America will ever be the same. It is terribly sad. And no, I am not trying to sound depressing, I am merely stating what I believe. All Americans should unite and throw these incompetents out of office and NOT vote for any more of them. No re-electing of these people. Start anew–somehow.

      • Claire

JanO–”Old enough to know better but too young to resist.” LOL

      • JanO

I hear you Claire. No, politicians are not saints any better then we are. But their is obviously some that are better then others. What people need to do before voting is research and test the candidate before voting. Not just swallowing hook, line & sinker the words coming from their mouth. There was plenty of info during this last election, but people either discounted it or just refused to beleive it. Some let their emotions get in their way as well.

      • DaveH

No man can be everything to everybody. We have apathetically allowed the government to intrude way too much on our lives. One size does not fit all, and we will never be happy as a Nation until we find a way to roll back the size of Government dramatically. We need to quit depending on Politicians to give us the good life. It isn’t going to happen.

    • Dennis

Claire, What it means is that the people are drinking that Obama Kool Aid.

      • Claire

Dennis—O.K. I had figured out that much but why call it Kool-Aid?

      • DaveH

Because it is a drink with almost no nutritional value that is pleasing to the tongue like Hopes and Dreams are pleasing to those who don’t know better.

      • John

        Claire,
They are talking about Jim Jones founder of the People’s Temple. Jones moved his temple to Guyana and called it Jones Town. Too make the story short he convinced his followers too drink a cyanide-lace grape flavored solution. About 900 of his followers died that day and close to 300 of them were children. This occurred in 1978.

    • BOE

Claire..where the saying came from is in the 1970`s Jim Jones a whacked preacher took people (followers) to South America. He got men, women and children to drink poisoned cool aide. They all died. Now do you get it? People have had a drink from the Obama cool aide.

      • Claire

Boe—Good grief. I get the picture. It is just that I have never heard this phrase until I started reading the posts on the Bob Livingston sites. I learn something new every day! And I thought I was keeping up on stuff!!!
Thnaks for going the extra step to explain.

      • Claire

        I mean thanks!!!

    • JC

Claire, to answer your question: Years ago (the 70′s I think) a guy calling himself the Rev. Jim Jones started a religious cult which eventually ended up in Guyana. He saw the end coming for his charade and had everyone drink Kool-Aid laced with poison, which most of them did on “faith”. That’s a very short version of the whole story. So the reference is to people so blinded by “faith” that they are willing to commit suicide.

      • Claire

JC–I get the drift. I remember the guy and the dysfunctional people that followed him. You can bet I won’t ever be drinking Kool Aid from now on!!! Seriously, I cannot imagine anyone in their right mind blindly following an idiot like that and end up killing themselves.

      • JC

I can imagine it Claire…picture this: 100,000 people in Chicago’s Lincoln Park mindlessly chanting “yes we can – yes we can – yes we can – (zeig heil – zeig heil…)
It’s happening in America now. Make sure you are able to protect yourself.

      • Claire

JC–Your comments are certainly something to think about. Insanity in the making. I remember that night in Chicago Park, I saw it on TV and I can remember thinking that there must have been a million people there. I have friends in Chicago (my relatives moved out) and they said they thought it was more than 100,000 people. A person couldn’t get anywhere because of the traffic congestion, etc. My friends also said there were all kinds of ethnic people and they were laughing, singing and happy as larks. Personally, Chicago scares me, I would never want to live there.
Yes, my husband has plenty of protection, if you get my drift. He hunted for years with our dogs, but now he cannot do the walking. I also know how to handle a pistol as well as a double-barrel shotgun. He took me to the gun club several years ago so I could learn to handle a gun. He is good at it, and I think I could do what I had to do to protect myself and my family.

      • Claire

And I have my trusty old crowbar that I can wield like a baton if I have to! And I have my mace. LOL

      • Joe H.

        Claire,
It all began one dark and stormy nite…………No I won’t try to tell you again!!!!!

      • J C

Claire, forget the double barrel…semi auto 12ga. with a 12 round magazine…that’ll buy you some space if you need it. ;)

      • Claire

JC—AHA! I checked with my husband and that is one that he has!!! He has several different guns. So apparently you and he are on the same wave-length! He said to tell you he is prepared!

  • Larry Fell

The second coming of Jesus Christ may be the only sure answer —Are you ready for that?

    • JanO

The way things are shaping up around the world & particularly since Obama was elected?, (I have some doubts about that), it sure looks like the beginning of that event. Evil has raised it’s ugly head and is about to take over the world. Obama’s plan to dimminish our country explains why we are not mentioned in Armagedan. I remember at least a decade ago that question about where is the US during that final conflict. Now we know the answer.

An American New Year in Times Square should give us all a second breath. DON’T STOP MESSAGES TO CONGRESS OR WHITE HOUSE. A post card

(FOR OR AGAINST)—————. Include your name and address. TEA
PARTIES REPRESENT ALL PARTIES AND IS AN EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY TO TEAM
UP WITH THE MOVERS AND THE SHAKERS. The American Style will NOT BE
CRAMPED, BUT PROMOTES INDIVIDUALS WHO WILL HELP AMERICA MAINTAIN ITS
SOVEREIGNTY AND SAFEGUARD ITS ASSETS AND CULTURE in this storm of
corruption. AMERICA IS LIVING PROOF THAT FAITH CAN AND WILL MOVE MOUNTAINS!

    • Michael F.

      Amen

P.S. I really pray that this will happen in California! It will truely take a miracle here!

  • Happy

This equals to MORE TAX PLEASE.

Folks, I really want Americans to have a good health care system, but after checking this out, I am very concerned due to the hidden tax it carries which makes me very nervous.

    • Michael F.

The increase in taxes and leaving the cost to our children is one of the major reasons I joined the Tea Party. We have to fight this spending our country to its death. The other reason is that I believe this bill is unconstitutional.

      • Claire

Taxes will have to be raised to cover U.S. debt, regardless as to whether health reform passed or not. Pure and simple. Prices on everything has increased, food, gas, etc. There is no choice but to raise taxes. Something has to be done. We owe China so much money that it is unfathomable to think we will ever get out of debt. What did the states do with their stimulus money? I thought some of it was to go for infrastructure to create jobs? I think this money was mishandled the moment it was received. I know some of the banks paid back the money they got from the government. What did the government do with it? We need accountability on every dang dime that the government spends. It should be published clearly and legibly on the Internet for all to see.
Americans for the most part wanted health care reform but with a public option. Did they get it? No. There were politicians that did not want the public option so in order to get their vote it was taken out. Why didn’t these politcians want the public option? What were they thinking? I am sure we all know the answer to this.
The garbage that is coming out of our government in mindboggling.

      • DaveH

Personally Claire, I think they will just default on their debt. Why not? You don’t think they have any morality do you?

      • Claire

You are probably right. They have defaulted on everything else.

      • Dennis

Claire, most people do NOT want this healthcare bill, not with or without the public option!
        For so many reasons!!!
Government will have complete control of everyones life, freedom, rationed care, you’ll be lucky to see a doctor! There is already a shortage of doctors now and this disaster has yet to begin. Doctors are talking about quitting, and the medical students are changing career plans.
The doctors will be fined for suggesting medical treatments, and they would be paid a flat salary that just isn’t worth the effort to study so hard and dedicate so much time to learning. So doctors will not be motivated to learn, leaving us with low educated doctors. I do not think I would like them to operate on me.
Forget cancer and any other life threatening issues, you will have either no medicine or end of life counciling, euthanized.
How else do you think they can control cost?
They want to cut $480 billion from medicare, that will be drastic cuts to nursing homes and hospice, not to mention expensive management medicine or procedures.
They want to do an age, health ratio to judge whether you get surgeries or certain medicine.
They already are saying we need to cut back on breast, cervical, and colon cancer screenings. They have said not to even bother with doing monthly self breast exams, ofcourse not, they wouldn’t want you to find something!
Do you really believe the govt. cares if anybody has insurance? Health insurance is the excuse to have control of your life, this is the door. They will control what you eat, drink and do. How about Cuba, the ciizens there are not allowed to have or eat sugar. If someone is vacationing there, well, a manager must give customers the sugar, to make sure the waiter doesn’t take any.
They want to take over EVERY aspect of our lives from every direction and this bill is the prime plan to SUCK everyone into their “false” helping.

      • Claire

Dennis–I think I needed your post. I had a gnawing fear that this is what health reform had come to. I tried to find the “good” in health reform, but I believe I was trying to cover up what I did not want to hear.

      • JC

Claire, ask yourself this – If the new health care plan is so good, why has the government itself opted out? They of course will have the best private health care in the world while you and I sit in emergency rooms and wait 4, 5, 6 hours to have a broken limb mended.
I’ve seen some hospitals in Canada. They look wonderful, new and modern. But the people who work in them are as frustrated as those waiting for care. It’s taking 4 to 6 months to get an MRI. People are dying on waiting lists. It’s a list of travesties just goes on and on…and its all so unnecessary.
All we need to do is put the government on a very short leash(from a very tall tree?;) ) and get them out of the “we’ll run you life” business.

      • usmadgirl

        Dennis,

Why can’t people see this? That’s what’s been so frustrating for me since before the election! God created us in his own image. He gives us the “insight” or whatever you want to call it, to discern what’s right & wrong. It would take a visually & hearing impaired, mentally challenged person (how’s that for PC – should be blind, deaf idiot) to have been unable to see & hear what Obama said in his campaign. (Well, he’s STILL campaigning, but prior to his being elected, which I’m not certain if that was on the up & up either with the thugs at ACORN & SEIU & possibly his not being a true citizen). Anyone with even a miniscule amount of intelligence should’ve been able to figure out what he was all about! I TRIED to give him the benefit of the doubt at first, but with all his radical associations, it didn’t take me long to know that my first impression was right on the money!

He TOLD us exactly what he was going to do! What did his “followers” actually think he meant by “fundamentally transforming the United States of America”? I know that this country isn’t perfect, but it’s the best there is or has ever been! Why would you want to transform it? If you LOVE something, you don’t want to change it! His blatant LIES didn’t start until after he took office. Lies about what the so-called “bail outs”, “stimulus”, “tarp”, “health care” were supposed to do. He even had the audacity to actually tell us that “Crap & Tax” was going to cause our electric bills to “skyrocket”! I can barely afford mine now!

Now, all those ignorant “nut jobs” that voted for him have sucked us into the total destruction (or “transformation”) of our great nation. I’m confused! Why would ANYone actually WANT to change our country from Liberty & Capitalism to a country controlled by Socialist, Communist or Marxist rule? This administration is turning our country into a country like others are trying to come HERE to escape! What, in all these radicals’ lives, made them the way they are & to believe the way they believe? They certainly weren’t brought up the way I was. All this administration is about is GREED for MONEY & POWER. All that those who voted for him are about is a FREE RIDE at the expense of the rest of us!

      • Claire

usmadgirl–I sincerely hope you are not implying that I am an ignorant nut job. If you are, then I would have to tell you to take a finger, put it somewhere and rotate. I am easy to get along with, I don’t pick a fight but I won’t back down from one either.
I am simply trying to find some good somewhere in this crazy government. Unfortunately there is none to be found.

      • Tinwarble

        Claire

        (words removed for offensive content)
Second, if you did vote for Obama, then yes, you are ignorant, you did not do your research on the things “he” said that he was going to do & how radical he was.
        Third, if you think that raising taxes is going to help us get out of this mess, then you probably are a “nut job”. The only thing that is going to stop the financial “mud slide” that we are in & to get out of our debt with China is to stop the spending spree this government is on. &;
Forth; No, most people don’t want a public option. Most people want the government out of their lives. If you let the government in to tell you what kind of health care you are going to receive, what’s next, are you going to let the government tell you what kind of food you are going to eat, how you raise your kids, what movies you can see, where you can go on vacation, or, to go back to my first point, what you can do in your own bedroom.
So, how about this, from now on, when a general statement is made & your name is not mentioned, lets try to stay away from the personal attacks.

      • usmadgirl

        Claire,

There was no “reply” after your disgusting & hateful reply to my reply to Dennis so I had to use the reply on this comment from you. I honestly don’t know what you’re talking about or why you even THOUGHT I was addressing you or any comment you had made. That was not very nice! I haven’t replied to you & haven’t said anything about you period. I’m not a mean person & unless I’m personally attacked, I try not to be mean or hateful to anyone else.

I too am trying to make sense of all the radical crap that’s going on & I had thought about responding to you on one of your comments to give you some information that might help, but after this, you’re on your own, because your comment was totally malicious & unprovoked! We disagree on here a lot & there are a lot of hateful liberals that just get on the site to cause trouble, but most of us can share information in a rational, civil manner or just vent our concerns. If I touched on something that caused you to THINK that my comment was directed toward YOU, I assure you it was NOT! I don’t appreciated being accused of something that I’m not guilty of!

      • DaveH

Claire voted for Obama. That was why she took your “nut job” comment personally. We do need to be gentle with the voters who were just taken in by his smooth talking lies. I have had two dealings with chronic liars in my life so I am very attuned to their methodology and apparently you are too, but we are probably more the exception than the rule.

      • Claire

usmadgirl–DaveH is right. I admitted it on a post about a month ago. I did vote for Obama and have regretted it ever since. I had no right to say what I did. Even though your post was to Dennis I did think the post was aimed at me. It was a terrible thing to say. It was beneath me and my upbringing. No excuses for this behavior. I apologize.

      • Joe H.

        Tinwarble,
I think I just heard Claire apologize and I think it would be good to hear you do so. Or is she a better woman than you?

      • usmadgirl

        Claire,

I had to “reply” to my own comment because yours didn’t have a reply “thingy”. I sincerely accept your apology & appreciate it very much. From all your other comments, I didn’t think you were a mean person. Lord knows, I say things in a heat of the moment especially in the last year! I work mainly from home & spend my entire day screaming at the TV while watching Fox News when I’m working.

I had no idea that you voted for O-bum-a until DaveH told me so I wasn’t directing anything toward you, but I apologize if my comments offended you. I’m sorry you’re having to deal with the disappointment of your decision, but so many others are in the same boat. I wasn’t thrilled about having to vote for McCain, but I mainly voted for him because of Sarah Palin. I just felt that McCain was the “lesser of two weasels”. He was at least conservative on several issues that concerned me. Obama’s radical associations & comments were the reasons I couldn’t consider him. Don’t beat yourself up too much since you didn’t have much to choose from.

I did a lot of research before I made my decision but my first choice for the Republican candidate was Duncan Hunter. He wasn’t given enough coverage to be considered; so I didn’t get what I wanted either! If it weren’t for Fox News & especially Glenn Beck, Liberty Alert, OneNewsNow, Michelle Malkin, Thomas Sewell & a few others, I’d be as uninformed as a box of air!

      • Tinwarble

Yes, she probably is a better woman than me, since I would have to lose a couple of parts off my body to be a woman. However, I do not feel the need to apologize since she personally attacked someone I know much better than anyone else here (if you know what I mean, wink, wink). I don’t feel that saying someone is ignorant to facts is not saying something bad about them, since anyone who would vote for Obama Been-Lie’n with what he had said & the agenda that he has would either have to be ignorant of the facts, a socialist or just a Lefty-left-left liberal. I will say that I’m sorry if I implied that she might be a “nut job”, because I’m sure that she is probably well intentioned & probably has a good heart.

      • Claire

usmadgirl–I am embarrassed. Embarrassed for being so nasty, and embarrassed that I stooped that low. Like someone that came out of the gutter. I have no excuses. I should practice what I preach. I appreciate the fact that you have accepted my apology, and yes, I have to deal with the bitter disapointment of voting for Obama. I guess I was taken in hook line and sinker and I should have known better. There is a reason why I chose to be on this site. There is a reason I chose not to be on the Huff Post site.

      • Claire

Tinwarble—there is no need for you to apologize. You were standing up for your friend and I respect that. And to think I go on about all people uniting for the good of America and then I turn around and act like an idiot. I am the one that should apologize to all of you on this site and I do apologize.

      • Claire

DaveH–thank you for the explanation to usmadgirl.

      • Claire

Joe H–Thank you for your post, even though I was in the wrong, I appreciate your confidence in me.

      • usmadgirl

        Claire,

There was no “reply thingy” again so once again, I had to go back to my own post. You are a class act! I’m truly sorry that I put all those who voted for Obama into one category. You don’t know a person’s heart unless you walk in their shoes. I know that a lot of people were “sucked in” by his “smooth attitude”, just like they were Clinton. I have been trusting ALL my life (like my dad was), but have a real “insight” about people (like my mom did). I trusted everything everybody said to be the God’s honest truth, because when I told somebody something it was the exact truth down to every small detail (that’s why my posts are so long & boring)!

I was a “people person” & never met a stranger. My deceased husband was a county deputy, then a county investigator for about 9 years & told me constantly that somebody was going to take me off & kill me if I didn’t quit trusting everybody that spoke to me. I’ve been lied to & screwed over so many times by even long time friends, but while I still give people the benefit of the doubt, it doesn’t take me long to see right through them! I guess I think everybody should be able to & I shouldn’t be that shallow. Lord knows, I certainly don’t want everybody to be like ME!

While I’m writing a “thesis”, I wanted to tell you yesterday, before our “posters’ misunderstanding”, how much I admire you for helping the blind lady & for paying $50 on her groceries. That was so sweet of you! My older son’s best friend has been TOTALLY blind (can’t even see light, only total darkness) since he was 12. He is the most incredible person I know! He doesn’t have a dog, but is the most independent person I’ve ever seen. Since he had sight for 12 years of his life, he’d ask us to describe what he was “looking at”. He’d go to movies & tell you about the movie he’d “seen”! Before my husband died, we lived on the lake & had a boat & a “Seadoo”. My son let him drive them while he directed him & he was so excited & felt so independent. When they’d start to leave to go somewhere, he’d tell my son, “I’ll drive”! He had the best attitude & sense of humor. He & my son wrote music together, were a duet & the winners of Southeastern district of the “Road to Nashville” music competition over about 2000 entries singing their original songs. Both are still in the music business. The blind one has sung at the Kennedy Center & has a music degree. That’s why I was so touched by your compassion for the blind lady! I wanted to tell you a bunch more stuff, but I’ve got to get busy & I don’t want to irritate the guys on this board with “girly stuff”!

In order to keep this post on the topic – government health care: BAD, with ANY kind of options they have to offer! We don’t want or need “government” ANYTHING except protection for our country!

      • Claire

usmadgirl–All I can say is Bless your Heart! I have been upset with myself all day. Thank you for your post. It is good to hear about the nice episodes in life.
Oh yes, I have always been too trusting myself. But this past year has made a big difference in my life. World events have made me “open my eyes” and realize that things are not always what they seem, and that life can be a real bear at times. Right now I feel like the biggest sucker there ever was.
Regarding health reform, I have already come to the conclusion that it is not good. It should be tossed out, and this may very well happen.
        Again, thanks.

      • usmadgirl

        Clair,

I, too, have been rudely awakened. Even though I didn’t vote for Obama & thought he was an arrogant narcissist, I never, in my wildest nightmares dreamed he would TRULY attempt to transform this country into the USSA, but he’s rapidly on his way to doing just that. I’ve always trusted my government. I knew it wasn’t perfect, but it was the best there was in the world! Otherwise, why would everybody else want to escape their countries & even risk their lives to come here? At least, I’ve never been terrified of my government…until now!

Sometimes, I just want to turn off the TV & pretend this awful stuff isn’t happening, but if I just miss one day, this administration has done some other shady, unconstitutional, radical crap behind closed doors or in the middle of the night on the weekend – things that we obviously have no control over any longer. Writing my representatives is like beating a dead horse. Not because they don’t listen or reply, but because they’re all REAL conservative Republicans & they vote for all my conservative views. I’ve written them anyway & I always get a reply to tell me that they agree with my view & will vote accordingly. I’ve even written to Democrats begging them to vote with their conscience instead of their party, but they obviously don’t have a conscience because they all got “bribed” into voting for the health care hoax – one was Ben Nelson in Nebraska!

I certainly hope you’re right about the so-called health care hoax. I was more optimistic until all the bribes were accepted by the Dems who were originally against it!

      • Claire

usmadgirl—I am scared of the government too. As I said earlier in one of my posts, too much has happened this past year that I found scary and did not want to believe. I, like you, have tried to find the good in everybody. It is disappointing when you realize a person is not the upstanding person you thought them to be. As you already know, too many Senators received pork for their votes and this is another reason why Health Care Reform went down the tubes. They should forget about it entirely. It will never work because it will not be done correctly, ethically, or morally.
The Democratic governor of Illinois had over 1700 prisoners released. Well, guess what, a bunch of them are starting their path of crime all over again! DUH! According to this morning’s paper, murders tripled here in town this past year. I guess I will not be able to go out after dark anymore. One of my friends has a convertible and this past summer she was stopped at a light, and a guy reached in her car and stole her purse! It was laying on the passenger seat and the guy just reached in and grabbed it and took off! This is no longer the age of innocence! But, it hasn’t been for a long time! Egad, I can remember in the late’50s we left our car keys in the ignition! At least we never had to look for them!!
Hopefully, this new year will be better for all, but I have my doubts. These doubts are getting bigger and bigger. Have a good day.

      • Dennis

It has been a proven fact that lower taxes has improved the economy and the deficit, also increasing the free market! The liberals just don’t like it that way, they just can’t rationalize how that works.
Just last week the great obuma had passed unlimited funds to Freddie and Fannie to the sum of $500 billion, that is the same companies that helped take down the ecomony. That is also where the CLOWN worked, that is telling Obuma that this healthcare bill is economical, affordable and debt nuetral and all those lies!
        He must be a genius.
By extendeding F & F unlimited funds like that, the government is guaranteeing those loans, should those loans be defaulted on, AGAIN, the taxpayers will cover the cost! Liberal’s economy budgets are FRIGHTNING!

Keep this in mind, part of a quote from
        Pres. Thomas Jefferson,
When a government is so big it can give you everything,
then a government is so big it can take everything away.

      • Dennis

        I mean FRIGHTENING

  • Myth Buster

Here’s my New Years wish for the ignorant right wingers in America. The cure for ignorance is education. You can CHOOSE to be Bushchitted forever by refusing to read a decent newspaper, and reading ONLY what you want to hear from RNC LIEsites like this one, or listen to B.S. from Faux News or drug crazed Rush Limppaw. Or you can step into the light, starting with the Health care issue and ending with accepting you’ve been lied to about Obama being a Muslim, not a citizen, violating the Constitution, and a socialist. You can’t argue facts, because you won’t even READ them! The OBM has certified that both the House and Senate versions of Health Care Reform bills are no worse than revenue neutral, and it is the problem of the uninsured and the overpaying insured which is bankrupting America and must be fixed once and for all. While admitting something must be done, Conservative politicians are taking bribes from the lobbyists from the AMA, AHA, Mega Pharma, and Insurance Associations. Conservatives have yet to offer a bill to compete with Obamacare, and never will. Prove me wrong! I dare ya. http://www.factcheck.org/2009/08/twenty-six-lies-about-hr-3200/

    • JC

Myth Buster, it isn’t that you are wrong, it’s that you are only half right. It isn’t the RED National Socialists and it isn’t the BLUE National Socialists…its National Socilaism period! And it comes from BOTH camps. So fire away at one side of it while defending the other and stay on that hamster wheel of compliance. And since you mention “education”, might I recommend that you complete yours? You’re only half way there…

      • DaveH

Myth Buster. Revenue Neutral? Really? Are you so ignorant as to believe a 2000+ page Healthcare Bill is going to be revenue neutral? You think all those regulations and increased government are going to be free? No wonder you follow Obama.

      • John

        DaveH,

That’s the scary part they really think that they know what they’re talking about and that they’re educated.

They are nothing more than brainwashed and they clearly are NOT capable of thinking for themselves. Their accusations are always baseless and they can NOT provide any substantive argument.

      • Joe H.

Hey DaveH I’ll bet he believes in the tooth fairy and Santa Clause too!!!

    • Michael F.

      Mr. Buster,

You brought up many points. All I ask you to do is the same you ask of others. Where are you examples to back up what you say.
As far as paying attention to the other side. I think any one who really cares about this contry of ours does pay attention to both sides. That’s where they get the lies or the hidden agendas. I believe that when you are looking to pass a bill the first thing that needs to be taken into consideration is Does it pass our Constitution’s rules? If not then either trash it, modify it to bring it to align with the Constitution, or try and pass a Constitutional amendment via the states. Sometimes you just need to work a little harder to pass a really Good law. It’s just to easy to pass crap that everyone else has to live with.

    • chuck b

      myth

you should try to go through life without being influenced by the liberal media backed up by the left wing snopes & factcheck. our healthcare bill didn’t need to be completely re-written only revised, such as tort reform and some parts of the medicare. your demo friends are more interested in controlling our lives than they are medical needs. not defending the repubs, but, they are smart enough to realize this. if obama has nothing to hide about his birth then he should put this to rest once and for all because the rumors will only continue and grow. you must realize by now this guy is a fraud and almost everything he is doing proves this. i for one believe this man should be removed from office along with most of the demo legislatures by any means and throw in a few republicans.

    • JanO

Snce I read that FactCheck is in the progressives pockets, I no longer go there. As far as FOX is concerned, they back up what they say with indisputable facts. They actually spell it out. Glenn is famous for his blackboards. Also his phone connected directly to the white house press secretarie’s if they want to comment on things he is saying that they do not agree with. They do not call!

      • http://aol Don

People are asking about kool-aid. Glen said his favorite drink is hard liquor and bongs. About twice a year he talks about his years of consuming this until his doctor told him if he continues his ways, he will die. Rush doesn’t talk about what he drinks, but he says he loves those Whoppers. I wish him the best with those chess pains. Whoppers do have a lot of fat in them.

      • DaveH

This coming from one of those Compassionate Liberals. What a joke.

      • Joe H.

        DaveH,
Compassionate Liberals???? What kind of animal is that? It doesn’t exist!!!!! Goof balls, all!!!

      • usmadgirl

        JanO,

You are exactly right. Until I started watching Fox News 7 years ago, I didn’t have a clue what was going on in the world. FOX NEVER reports anything without the facts to back up what they’re reporting. Since Glenn Beck joined Fox, I’ve learned more about our country & our government than I ever learned in my entire life BG (before Glenn)! He too, NEVER reports anything without FACTS & most of those facts are on video showing the facts straight from the HORSES A$$#$ OWN MOUTHS!

Without Glenn, we wouldn’t have had a clue about ACORN, SEIU or all of the “so-called” president’s czars & their radical, Castro, Mao & Chavez-loving agenda!

I just don’t understand why FOX thinks they have to be so “fair & balanced” when ALL the other news networks are so incredibly biased with the left wing liberal, progressive loons & their “messiah”!

About Glenn’s phone, the White House can’t call to respond because everything he says about them is true!

      • John

        Good points JanO,

Fox News does back up what they say. There’s no disputing the facts.
I haven’t watched any of the so-called mainstream media since the elections began last year. Their coverage of the elections was too obvious and a major disservice to their audience.
I don’t need to watch the weather report for 10 minutes every half-hour, police chases and biased reporting, they can have it.

      • Joe H.

        JanO,
Don’t forget snopes. It’s the brainchild of a husband and wife team of libberals!!!!

      • usmadgirl

        Joe H,

Thanks for enlightening me to “snopes”. I swear, I thought what they posted was “gospel”. I check things I receive before I e-mail them to friends & family to keep from having to write back & tell them it was a hoax! I had no idea that they were part of the liberal liars! I’m certainly not gullible, but to think that I’m that trusting & people actually report the truth, makes me mad at myself! I KNOW the MessiahStreamMedia lies, omits stuff & is in bed with their “savior”, but I thought Snopes was the place we could get undistorted facts!

    • kevin

You are so shallow you think the no insured / underinsured are the cause ! I pitty you and your shallow mind . This is not about the rhetoric( the art of speaking or writing effectively)bullsht you speak of . Truth be known if people(THAT CAN) WORKED for the MEDIACL AIDE or Benifts they receive , its a no brainer how it fixes itself . CAN YOU UNDERSTAND !!! Or do you beleive i(WE) need to pay for it with no strings attached . Your thinking is part of the problem not a solution . Thats why it continues to get worse .
Bush for that matter was throwed under the bus when he attempted to make people accountable for what they received . WHATS WRONG WITH WORKING FOR A LIVING or AIDE YOU IDIOT . Even if its in a field picking fruit, vegitables etc… The list goes on and on . But the Socialist minded dumba$$ thought that was cruel . WELL CRY ME A RIVER MORON

      • Joe H.

        kevin,
Better yet, let them do those jobs that Americans won’t do that we keep hearing about with the Mexican illegals!!! Or just think how clean our highways would be if everyone able to work that collected food stamps for more than 4 months had to get out and pick up litter on our freeways and streets!!! They do it here in Eastlake Ohio with all the juvenile offenders. They have to pull community service which includes picking up trash alongside the streets that parallel the highway!!! Looks dam good when they’re done, too!!!

      • Claire

At least your town has common sense. The same thing should be applied in all towns and cities. Make the little brats work. I wish they make the juvies do it here.

    • Dennis

Yea, and I have the world’s greatest bridge to sell you.
You would benefit from some FACTS!
Maybe get your hearing checked and see the eye doctor or are you waiting for your “free” healthcare. Oh, what it doesn’t start for four years?
There are videos of your king admitting he’s muslim and he said right there on tv in front of God and everybody that America is no longer a christian nation! Wonder why he said that? Sheep led to the slaughter!

    • DaveH

Oh yeah, Buster, the left-wing class is the intelligent class. That’s why they think creating more money will create properity. As if rendering peoples’ savings worth less with excess money creation is going to somehow spur them to work harder and be more productive. If that was the solution, there would be no poor countries. They would just create more money and be prosperous (sure).

    • DDC

Myth Buster, I CAN PROVE YOU WRONG. YOU ARE A DAMN IDIOT IF YOU THINK WHAT IS IN THE WHITE HOUSE IS IN THERE LEGAL. HE IS A MUSLIM, HE HAS ALREADY SAID THE UNITED STATES WAS NOT A CHRISTIAN NATION. AND I THINK THE FUNNY LITTLE BEANIE HE WEARS ON HIS HEAD SOMETIMES NEEDS TO HAVE A PROPELLER ON IT THAT BLOWS IN THE WIND. IT’S FOR DAMN SURE IT WOULD BE SPINNING ALL THE TIME, BECAUSE THAT’S ALL HE IS, IS WIND.

HIS WIFE MUST BE LAZY, BECAUSE SHE HAS GOT MORE HELP THAN ANY OTHER FIRST LADY HAS EVER HAD.

THEY DON’T BELONG IN THE WHITE HOUSE. WE NEED TRUE AMERICAN CHRISTIAN PEOPLE IN THERE FOR,”WE THE PEOPLE,”. I SURE AS HELL DIDN’T VOTE FOR HIM, AND I AM A REGISTERED DEMOCRAT. HE’S A JOKE. OTHER NATIONS ARE LAUGHING AT US, AND ALSO SNICKERING BEHIND HIS BACK. WHAT A DUNCE WE HAVE FOR A LEADER. MAYBE I SHOULD HAVE SAID DUNCES. ALL OF THEM.

    • Tinwarble

So, you think that Conservatives are ignorant, but then you throw out you uneducated, uninformed & just plain stupid comment that the Health Care Bill is revenue neutral. Now, I’m just a dumb, red-neck country boy, but I’m pretty sure that when you spend all that you have, then you spend some more, that’s called DEBT. Your little “revenue neutral” comment is right up there with, “fire can’t melt steal”. Are you so ignorant not to know what “revenue neutral” means, it means that they don’t have to raise taxes (the revenue) or that they don’t have to cut one program to pay for another. Both of which are going to be done to pay for this bill.
Also, I understand that you have been living in a hole somewhere, but Conservatives do have an alternative to Obama-care, like Tort Reform & allowing people to buy insurance across state lines. You know that thing that gives you Uber-Libs the cold chills, Free Market Competition. Let me put this in a way that you might understand it; where I live, there is a Super-Walmart (yes, I know you are probably saying Boo-Walmart), & pretty much nothing else. At this Walmart just about everything is $2.00 more than it is if I drive just 20 min to the Super-Walmart in the city. Now, why is that, because the Walmart in the city has to compete with other stores like Target & BestBuy. It’s called C-O-M-P-E-T-I-T-I-O-N, it’s what brings prices down.
Now, when you find somewhere in the Constitution that it says that the government is supposed to provide Health Care, then by all means, come on back & we’ll have a discussion. But, until then, how about quit reading you liberal blogs & news papers & spewing out your ignorant talking points.

      • DaveH

When Obama took office, the National Debt was 10.6 Trillion dollars. It is now 12.1 Trillion dollars.
During Bush’s second term the National Debt increased 3 Trillion dollars (about .75 Trillion a year), but keep in mind that in the last 2 years of his term Democrats controlled Congress.

    • cr747

Myth Buster, seems to me like we have got another Normal Guy or denniso here. Are you brothers??????????

      • Joe H.

        cr747,
I noticed that eyes disappeared so it would be time for denniso to come up with a new alter ego!!!!

  • Michael F.

You say that the Insurance companies make out on this. I tend to disagree. The insurance companies are being put under so many government restrictions that they no longer have a free marrket or free trade. What needs to happen is that they need to be allowed to compete against each other across state lines. The way the bill put it they are basically a government entity, so they, congress, may as well call this bill a public insurance bill. It is basically run by the government. This is no longer a prive insurance country.
Sooner or later I also agree that we are going to have to revolt against this socialistic government.

    Happy New Year

  • http://n/a Mark

All the senate and house want is their way. The money the present administration (I use that term loosely since the can’t even manage a whore house and sell whiskey) is printing has already buried us for many years. Barry Soetoro and his village idiots have ruined this country forever. I am not a dem or a republican and I believe it is time for another direction, just don’t say change. The only change has been for the worse. And this healthcare abomination is a waste of time and money.

Thanks a lot Republicans! Of course a majority of Americans do not support the weak, watered down version of health care that passes the Senate. I assume you include progressives who are madder than hell in your so-called “majority?”
I just hope voters remember who it was that ruined health care reform in this Congress, the Greed Over Patriotism Republicans.

Get in line Grey Fedora…its where you’ll be happiest. The rest of us prefer freedom of choice and self determination. NO government EVER gave us anything worth having. WE the people are the creators of wealth and choice. But that’s probably a little deep for you isn’t it?
      Happy New Year…Kamrade!

Right on Joe. I just don’t get it…where do all these lazy bastards come from and how is it they are not suffering for their laziness?
        Oh yeah! Career welfare…

      • John

        JC & JoeH,

I agree with you guys. That is typical of obama’s voter base. They’re ignorant and lazy.

We need too band together and get these communists out of office. obama’s followers need to get educated and get jobs.

    • DaveH

It’s patriotic now to give people something for nothing? And the people who want to keep their own hard-earned money are greedy? But the people who want to help themselves to the money of other people aren’t greedy?
Wow Grey, your powers of rationalization are incredible.

Oh, look! Gray fedora has his hand out, just waiting for the free health care.

Everything this congress has done for the year needs to be repealed immediately…All of the members should be impeached along with the kenyan impostor squatting in our white house. His trial for producing legitimate documents is due Jan 26. I have no doubt he is in hawaii buying himself a “legitmate birth certificate”…not the real one from kenya!!!!

    • Jayne Schriver

I agree 100%. He should be tried for treason for illegally placing himself in the White House and his 3 stooges (Reid, Pelosi, and Biden) should be booted out with him because they help perpetrate the crime!

      • Kitty

It’s more evident every day that we are going to fight for our country– our principles & freedoms are worth fighting for. All the “leaders” need to become aware that there is a large percentage of citizens that are not planning to “go with the flow”. The whole structure of our country has been undermined under our noses. If our lives are worth anything to us, we are will be forced to make hard decisions now. The medical program is a “scam” that will take away many freedoms we have enjoyed. How can anyone vote on a “bill” that isn’t even written or offered for review to those who are supposed to be our representives? What travisty!!!

    • cr747

Flew out of Hawaii late last night. Yes he was there, and got real mad at people taking pictures of him and his family!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • JanO

Voted for it with the help of his cronies in ACORN.

      • Joe H.

        victor,
YOU may have voted for him, but I sure as hell did not!!! There’s no we on my side unless you have a mouse in your pocket or you are pregnant!!!

      • JC

I don’t know that “we” voted for it. Obama did not win by a landslide and one third of the US didn’t turn out to vote. Either they are apapthetic or they have lost faith in the system. So approximately one third plus a small percentage voted for Obama. The other two thirds seem to be buying guns and ammunition in record amounts. You do the math.

      • John

        Victor,

AGAIN I did NOT vote for that traitor!

Don’t include me with the fools that did vote for him.

      • usmadgirl

        Victor,

I didn’t vote for this idiot. I don’t know anyone who did! The idiotic 51% (including Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck & all the dead & criminals) who actually voted for him (the guilt ridden because he was HALF black & felt they owed his black-half part something or the poor souls who actually THINK that they’re actually gonna get something for nothing from the Democrats that have enslaved them for years) are to blame for the downfall of our country! NOT ME!

It doesn’t matter if it contains a public option or not. It is UnConstitutional and they know it. The Federal Government does not have the power to take over our Health Care System.
Does anybody think these crooks aren’t planning to bring the Health Care Insurance industry to its knees so the politicians can then say we need the public option after all?

      • JC

Sure it does…for Congress and the Senate. They’re special ya know!

WE ALL KNOW THAT OBAMA IS THE ABORTION KING SINCE DAY ONE, PELOSI BEING THE ABORTION QUEEN, ALON WITH NO BRAIN HARRY REID AND THE COURT JESTER JOE BIDEN. SO THIS MEANS THAT OBAMA AND THE THREE STOOGES WILL PUT THEIR ABORTION AGENDA IN ANY HEALTHCARE BILL THROUGH BACKROOM MEETINGS. OBAMA WANTS US TO PAY FOR ANY AND ALL ABORTIONS, INCLUDING THOSE FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS. THAT ALONE WILL BANKRUPT AMERICA….WHY DOES OBAMA WANT TO BANKRUPT AMERICA ?

WHY IS OBAMA IN DENIAL THAT WE ARE AT WAR ?

WHY DOESN’T HE RECOGNIZE THAT MUSLIM TERRORIST ARE THE ENEMIES OF AMERICA ?

WE NEED ANSWERS TO ALL OF THE ABOVE QUESTIONS .

IT LOOKS LIKE WE ARE ALL GOING TO HELL IN A HANDBASKET THANKS TO OBAMA !

HE ALONE HAS THROWN THE CONSTITUTION UNDER THE BUS.

    • Jayne Schriver

Well Duh! President Soetoro’s number 1 objective is to destroy this country and turn it into God only knows what!

    • Dennis

THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION IS THAT OBAMA IS A MUSLIM HE IS THE TERRORIST, HE WILL DO ANYTHIG AND EVERYTHING TO DISTROY THIS COUNTRY. THE SOONER WE ALL UNDERSTAND THAT THE SOONER WE CAN GET HIM OUT OF OFFICE ( IMPEACH HIM NOW )ITS THE ONLY WAY.

  • cerebus23

Um yea that’s why medicare is going to go bankrupt, social security is going to go bankrupt, the postal system can barely deliver the mail on time, name one federal program that works period and is not rife with fraud waste and runs efficiently. oh wait you can’t.

so lets hoist another 1 trillion dollar health program onto the mess. in 20 to 40 years SS alone will cost another trillion to fix, if it can be fixed at all. and medicare will probably be another trillion. and if you think this new federal program is good thing and did not go far enough you should sign up for a brain transplant.

the federal government is doing noting but spending us all into bankruptcy, which is what i think you leftist and socialists are rooting for, because you know we cannot afford any of this stuff as is and it always ends up costing 10x more than what they “project” aka guesstimate.

and lets never mind that all this stuff is unconstitutional period while we shoving our heads up our asses.

      • http://aol Don

This article is as bad as Victor’s Mason theories. Unemployment is higher, but other factors have done better during the last 11 months since Obama has been president. Zack’s research company has shown that new housing is up, capacity utilization is up, S&P is up, mortagae rates are down, and the Aaa and the Baa ratings are up. Companies on most levels are paying back their bonds.

      • DaveH

Housing Sales have been up because buyers have been rushing to beat the deadline for the first-time buyer tax credit that was set to expire on November 30.
The Standard and Poor’s index is up about 20% from a year ago. But a year ago the stock market was tanking in response to Obama’s election and Democratic control of Congress. In addition the Dollar is worth about 10% to 30% less depending on which country’s currency you compare it with. Of course the Stock Market would be up because there are more dollars chasing those stocks due to the Government stimulus and other increased spending.
It’s just a matter of time before the Democrat-caused inflation hits the consumer goods. The only thing that has held it down is the weak economy. But eventually the increased money supply is going to result in inflation whether the economy improves or not (stagflation).
We have a long way to go before the jury can deliberate.

      • BOE

Yep..you are right..inflatation is coming! That`s why I have been stock piling toilet paper. They say trucks will not be able to afford gas to transport goods. Sooo

      • Joe H.

        DaveH,
Let’s not forget that oil is now at the highest its been in a long time and gas here has gone from around 2.39 a gallon to 2.65 a gallon. Not a big increase at first glance, until you look at the fact that it is about 90 cents higher than a year ago!!!

      • Joe H.

I forgot, that’s Bushes fault!!! Yeah wright!!!

      • Claire

Joe H–WalkieTalkies sound like the solution. I think I’ll have my husband check out the ham radios/and get licensed.
The Illinois governor and the Director of Corrections have released over 1700 prisoners. Guess what!!! A number of them are violent criminals so now there is a big stink going on. The violent ones were released in error. They will never locate the violent ones. I started to say I could not believe the stupidity here in this state but yeah, I believe it. What next? Nothing surprises me anymore.

      • JC

Sure unemployment is higher. But everything else that is “up” is because of artificial stimulus money. Fake money. And its going to crash hard. Prepare! ;)

      • Claire

I have been “stocking up” for quite some time. Bottled water, you name it. And my husband has stocked up on his supplies!! I hope I am wrong but I have a gut feeling the next time terrorism strikes, it will be devastating, and it may very well happen in different cities at the same time. I am to the point that when I am out in public I keep my eyes open. If I see anything weird I will certainly call the police. If there is no time to call the police then I will do what I have to do.

      • JC

Don’t forghet your negotiables: Gold, Silver, Jewelry, (lead) just so you’re prepared for the the crash of paper currency if or when it happens. If you’re in a city, try and have a plan to get you and your family out quick! Cities will probably be filled with roving gangs of Liberals who, as always, want to take what you have.

      • Claire

As crazy and frightening as it sounds, if anything comes up, my husband and I already have plans. My husband has made sure of it. And we will take our valuables. We are ready for anything should it happen. I have my parents’ farmground, untilled, plenty of woods, and the old farmhouse and it is off the beaten path and far away from any cities. It is an hour’s drive from my house here in town. All we have to do is call our kids, and the rest of the family and we will take off. The family is also prepared. I have crates for the dogs in my big van. I can’t and will not leave my dogs. We keep our vehicles’ gas tanks full at all times. I sometimes feel like I am paranoid, but I have already stockpiled canned goods, nonperishable items, and bottled water in the farmhouse. My husband has made sure he has plenty of his supplies here at home, you know what kind of supplies I mean. We have to keep his supplies here, and load them quickly into our vehicles. I have a neighbor in the country that keeps an eye on the farmhouse. So far, so good.

      • Joe H.

        Claire,
There’s an old saying “just because you’re paranoid it don’t mean they’re not out to get you!!!” I think it applies here! I am stocking up also and won’t stop until things improve greatly!!!

      • cr747

Way to go Claire. Just make sure you don’t advertise it around where you live. People will be banging on your door. Even worse, they will be doing harm to people who is smart enough to prepare. You said your husband has prepared, so, that sounds good.

My guys have prepared also with a lot of necessary supplies like your husband has done. Glad to here it!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Claire

cr747—I have had this farmground for many many years. I doubt if many people remember that it belongs to me, of course my neighbor does, and since he feels the same way we do, he is stockpiling also.
In fact, most people in that area feel the same way. Take care.

      • J C

Claire, sounds good. Now one more thing…what if the cell phones don’t work? Have you got a contingency for meeting up somewhere?
For safety sake, plan for no communications on a day when you’re family is seperated.

      • Claire

That is something we have to work on for sure. We take the dogs running down there in better weather and have tried using the cell phones. They really cut out, so I don’t know what we can do about it. Any ideas?

      • Joe H.

        Claire,
try walkie talkies. They have some really good ones that have a 35 mile range now for about 100.00!!! Not good for long distance but good for local talk. You could get a ham outfit and get licensed if you want!

      • cr747

POW, where you a POW? If so where at? Where you ever listed as MIA?
The reason I’m asking, I fly a POW-MIA flag 24-7 365 days a year. I still have friends MIA in Vietnam. It’s so SAD for the families of these men that have never been found, or heard from.

    • JanO

A neighbor of mine that has ties to people in Sweden says Obama has already proposed cutting SS payments by 30%.

      • Claire

JanO–I have heard this too. I am not for name-calling but I am sick of these so-called Presidents (a$$es) that waltz into office and right away they want to kill Social Security. These politicians have plenty of money, they don’t have to worry about their future like some people do. Egad, what a farce. My husband and I are fine, but I know many people that simply will not be able to live without Social Security. They have had many health issues and did not have proper hospitalization and now they are really bad off. Some of our senior church members are really having a rough time. I do believe Social Security is/was a good thing to have. But the government could not keep their hands off the money that belonged to Social Security. They have double-dipped into it so many times and used it for their own agendas. All I can say is–save as much as you can while you are young.

      • Claire

Whoops! I meant “proper insurance” aka “good insurance” not “proper hospitalization.” A person really has to really be careful with insurance companies.

      • BOE

Why can`t he cut welfare by 30%? They have never paid into the system like the SS people. And require a drug test for welfare while they are at it.

      • Claire

I do agree with you on the welfare agenda. There are people that keep pumping out babies so they can keep getting the welfare checks. This sounds crude but I call it like it is. The welfare system is in dire need of a huge overhaul. It has been out of hand for so many years. But no one wants to clean it up.
Only the legally poor should receive welfare. But again, how in the name of all that is sane, can this system be cleaned up?

      • DaveH

        BOE,
He wouldn’t propose cutting Welfare because they predominately vote for Democrats:

  • Norm

The far right hate machine has scared many of their listeners. The left wants more government control. The compromise bill is a boom for the insurance companies and offers no real cost savings. The good news is that it’s a start. Democracy is a very innefficient form of government.

    • http://victorbarney@embarqmail.com Victor L Barney

Not worst by history than Marxism, which seems to be the current objective!

    • Richard Pawley

Our forefathers started this nation as a Republic (as was ancient Rome) and it has evolved into a Democracy. As a Democracy it is already older than all previous democracies. This compromise bill is indeed a boon to insurance companies and to the drug firms. What is truly communistic about it is that it takes away from those who have to give to those who do not. Already half the nation is dependent on government. Government workers, the new elite, like in the Old Soviet Union, make nearly twice the average salaries of those who work in the private sector. I have three brothers and all work for government. They have five or six children who work for government. I wasn’t smart enough to realize that is where the money is – and of course banking). Doesn’t anyone realize we already spend more money than anyone on earth for health care and we are less healthy than in dozens of other countries? Spending more and creating a bigger bureaucracy is not going to make it better, only worse. No health bill at all would be better than borrowing more money (causing massive inflation in this decade) to pay for what hasn’t worked in any other country. “Health Care” is the biggest bureaucracy in England and even 23 year olds there are allowed to die (not just those over 55) if they don’t meet the criteria set my the bureaucracy. Romney started “government health” in Massachusetts and that state is now a Billion dollars in the hole from it and the “poor” say it is worse than before. Well, if that is what the population wants, “bread and circus’s” then that is what our career politicians will give them. That is why our Congress is getting unlisted phone numbers and P.O. box addresses….Don’t worry, this situation of spending what we don’t have and just printing more paper money to pay for it will not last, it will cost us severe inflation and the eventual destruction of the dollar but hey, it’s only paper. This is only one of the reasons I called my latest, politically incorrect book, “The Last Days of the Late Great United States” but 75,000,000 did not even read a book last year so they will never learn what it is really all about until it is to late. May God bless America. No one else is going to do so!

You would just look at the mountain and tell everyone that there is no need to climb, just wish for the peak to come to you and like magic it will all work. Reality is that change is driven by effort, the transition of anything requires a firm grasp of reality, and a willingness to work together to find solutions. In the real world it requires investment of time and resources and compromise (check out the historical record regarding the drafting of the US Constitution and the addition of the bill of rights). Patriots fight to preserve their country, not break it apart, you are not a patriot, you are a separatist and you disgust me.

Your Libertarian fantasy is weak minded and based on a world economic model that does not exist now and has never existed in the past. Do some research on coercion and the flaws of your simple minded theories?

2.New Zealand – complete disaster followed by rejection of the Libertarian concept and prosperity.

3.Iceland – complete disaster and national bankruptcy

4.The Fed under Greenspan (Ayn Rand advocate) – huge bubbles followed by the near total collapse of the global financial system based on his self regulating philosophy. “there’s nothing involved in federal regulation which makes it superior to market regulation” “there appears to be no need for Government regulation of off exchanged derivative transactions” “bank loan officers in my experience know far more about the risks and workings of their counterparties than do Bank regulators”

      • Normal Guy

        JC

Another right wing zealot, another moron.

Your belief that we do not live in a democracy is a common error on these right wing sites. Of course the United States is a Republic. The word republic derives from the Latin res publica; res means “thing” or “affair,” and publica means “public,” as opposed to “private.” The word thus denotes government in which politics is a public affair and not the personal prerogative of a single ruler (the founding fathers were strongly opposed to monarchs). There have been aristocratic republics and oligarchic republics, but, as applied to the United States government, this term usually means a democratic republic, one in which elected representatives carry out the functions of government. The USA functions as “Constitutional Democracy” or a “Liberal Democracy”. In the United States, Founding Fathers like James Madison defined republic in terms of representative democracy as opposed to only having direct democracy.

Liberal democracy (or constitutional democracy) is the dominant form of democracy in the 21st century. During the Cold War, liberal democracies were contrasted with the Communist People’s Republics or “Popular Democracies”, which claimed an alternative conception of democracy. Today, constitutional democracies are mostly contrasted with direct democracy and/or participatory democracy. Liberal democracies may take various constitutional forms: they may be republics, as the United States or India or France, or constitutional monarchy, as the United Kingdom or Spain. It may have a presidential system (United States), a parliamentary system (Westminster system, UK and Commonwealth countries), or a hybrid, semi-presidential system (France).

The founding fathers understood that the rights of the non-majority after an election needed to be preserved that the elected government could not be given supreme power as the swings in the electorates desires shifted. They understood that the foundation of the nation required an anchor. This is why the constitution was written. This is why the Supreme Court has so much power and why it is such a brilliant idea. They are the guardians of the rule of law. They assure that constitutional rights must be upheld. The United States has been a tremendous success the founding fathers understood that a pure democracy could still lead to tyranny, a constitutional democracy protects its citizens rights even if they are not in the majority.

Hamilton wrote that through the practice of judicial review the Court ensured that the will of the whole people, as expressed in their Constitution, would be supreme over the will of a legislature, whose statutes might express only the temporary will of part of the people. And Madison had written that constitutional interpretation must be left to the reasoned judgment of independent judges, rather than to the tumult and conflict of the political process. If every constitutional question were to be decided by public political bargaining, Madison argued, the Constitution would be reduced to a battleground of competing factions, political passion and partisan spirit.

Normal Guy–I need to ask some questions. And I am not trying to be sarcastic, and I understand if you do not want to answer these questions. They could be considered personal and therefore none of my business. I am trying to analyze the reasons people vote the way they do and why. When Obama ran for office, what qualities did you see in this man? Exactly what was it that made you want to vote for him? Was it because you are a Democrat and would have voted for any Democrat or was it because of how you felt and thought about Obama? If it was a Democrat you did not like would you have voted for him/her anyway? And since you obviously voted for him are you truly pleased with the results so far? Do you really believe he is doing a good job? Do you believe Congress is doing a good job?
Have you ever considered voting for a person regardless of party affiliation?
If you tell me it is none of my business, I understand, I am just curious.

      • Normal Guy

        Clair

The qualities that I see in Obama are intelligence, and the ability to defeat the Republican Neo-Cons who since Reagan’s Presidency have been damaging the structure of this nation. National debt has risen from one trillion to almost eleven trillion under republicans from Reagan forward; there have been irresponsible fiscal policies that have created destructive bubbles because of overheated markets and an insufficient tax base. The USA is on a war footing that has provided little security, huge expenses and has put the reputation of this country in the international toilet while creating new terrorists who hate us.

I am sorry that Obama has had to spend most of this year trying to clean up the economic, diplomatic and military messes that he inherited from W and Cheney. The global collapse that we averted over the last year will be expensive and will take a long time to fully resolve. I hope that regulations are developed to prevent this kind of thing happening in the future. Derivatives and credit default swaps, subprime mortgages, over leveraged positions with banks being allowed to leverage debt 30 to one, all these things need to be dealt with. I think Obama has accomplished a great deal considering the substantial obstacles that he has faced from the republicans and the lobby groups.

I also strongly agree with the healthcare initiative, I would like to see a public option and hope that Obama can push for this before it ultimately passes. I am very familiar with public health in Canada and believe that this is a public good that makes a nation greater just like roads, power and schools.

I do find the lobby groups interfere with congress – and the politics of getting re-elected are frustrating. I would vote for anyone who has a position I agree with. It has nothing to do with parties.

      • Claire

        Normal Guy:

I read your post. Thank you for answering some of my questions. It was not my intention to put you on the spot or cause any havoc on this site. I will tell you why I voted for him, and the reasons I am disillusioned with him now.
        (1) I have been a registered Republican for over 30 years, but have always tried to vote for the “person.” I voted for Obama because I, too, thought at the time he was intelligent, he promised all of us the same insurance care that he, and the members of congress had. This has not happened. In fact, health reform has been picked apart, changed so many times and all for the votes of dissenting congressional members. This is not right. In fact, he left it up to Reid and Pelosi to figure out. As far as I can tell, his input on health reform was little to nothing. I tried to find the good in this, however I do not consider the passage of this bill to be of any use whatsoever. It should be totally redone and done right, if it is going to be done at all.
        (2) He also stated during his campaign that the lobbyists would have to “go.” I thought this was great! No more lobbyists! Now things will get done correctly, fairly, and properly! Again, this has not happened. He has caved in to them.
        (3) After he was elected, he chose Eric Holder, Rahm Emmauel, and Timothy Geitner. These people are not sincere and talented people. For one, you don’t pick people that are/were involved with Wall Street. We all know these men and their backgrounds, and as far as I am concerned, they leave a lot to be desired. I had hoped he would have made better choices.
        (4) He chose other Republicans for his cabinet, and I believe he thought this would “help” him to acquire votes for his agenda. This has backfired. Instead, he is in a quandary. He should have known this would not work. It never does.
        (5) He also tried to install people from various cultural backgrounds, and this is fine, I do not have a problem with this, but again to seek votes for his agenda. Some will come to his rescue, others will not.
        (6) In various situations, I felt he has been weak, and has not stepped up to the plate. I realize it is tough to work with Congress and all that, but he should have been more forceful if he wanted to come across as being confident and knowledgeable.
        (7) He won the Nobel Peace Prize–that is great for a President of the United States. He stated that the million dollars went to charity. Fine, that is wonderful, but what charity? I would like to know this.
        (8) And I was not happy with the fact that he was flitting around to various countries, spreading his good will while Congress was fighting to get something accompished. Another disaster. He should have stayed home and worked at America’s problems. If these trips were necessary, fine, but they could have been postponed. There were more important matters at home to be taken care of.
        (9) The bailing out of the banks should have had stipulations. Instead, the money was given carelessly. The credit card fiasco is exactly that–a fiasco. I have two credit cards, and the interest rates have shot up. Therefore, I will do away with them. My family and friends have also had the interest rates horribly increased on their credit cards. And they pay their bills on time the same as I do. Another situation that is in favor for the credit card companies.
        (10) During his campaign, he also said he would bring the troops home in 17-18 months. This has not happened, and he should never have promised this. I realize some of the Republicans wanted to send more troops, and he did just that. This has been a tough call, but still a person should not make promises they cannot keep. I fell for this hook line and sinker.
I cannot write a book here. These are a few of the problems that I have with the way I have voted. I really believed for the first time in many years that things would be better, everything would fall into place and work out just fine. I thought America would be put on its feet again and become the wonderful reputable country it has always been. I thought the war would be done away with, and we would tend to matters at home and take care of America first and foremost. I thought America would again become strong, not become more weakened by the greed and corruption of the politicians. I am proud of America and I love America with all my heart. We are the best of all worlds. It truly bothers me that I have probably done an injustice by voting the way I did and I will never again vote for someone that is not worthy of America. I will certainly do better research the next time around.

That’s right, more name calling from a brain washed communist loyalist. You sir have your head so far up your own liberal a** you will never see the light of day let alone make one bit of sense.
You accuse people of wanting to break up a great nation? What great nation? Are you referring to this socialist shell of what once was a great nation? People like Dave H, myself and the majority of principled, ethical people want to “restore” not destroy the nation.
And right now as far as I’m concerned. America’s greatest enemies are you frothing at the mouth rabid commies. And the only good commie is a….

      • Normal Guy

        Claire

I appreciate your position and understand how things can be disillusioning. I respect that you voted based on the hopes and issues that matter to you and not on party lines. I would say that perhaps your expectations were somewhat unrealistic. It takes longer than a year to implement many of the changes to health care, to end the wars, to repair an economy that was close to a global meltdown and try to reenergize the economy that had been in an accelerating decline for a year and a half before Obama came to office.

You seem to be in conflict in that you want him to drive through legislation but you also want him to reach across the aisle. I agree that trying to find consensus is a challenge and as you state it can backfire, but I think it is worth attempting, however, as you say, some will come to his rescue, others will not – you are right, it is time to be more forceful – we will see. In regard to global travel, I think that a great deal can be accomplished reaching out to the world, toning down the rhetoric and looking for common interests can solve a lot of our problems, so we can disagree on how worthwhile this is.

I would like to see the wars ended; unfortunately the entanglements that we are engaged in are complex. He needs to listen to his people on the ground, but the sooner this ends the better. I agree that the situation with lobbyists is completely unacceptable, I would like to see a solution to this, but it is a serious structural change in how politics are conducted in this country, it won’t change overnight.

I must say that Healthcare should have a public option, those in opposition have done everything they can to gut the bill. The political reality is if you can build only the framework for good public healthcare now and then can complete the job later it is not ideal but it will get us part way down the road.

You seem like a sincere person, keep voting based on your concerns and issues in mind and I think, like you, that America will find the strength and greatness that we all deserve again.

      • cr747

WOW, WHAT HAS GOTTEN INTO NORMAL GUY? HE IS SO IRATE, AND DESPICABLE THAT I CAN’T BELIEVE ALL THIS MUMBO-JUMBO. Boy, I sure have missed out on a lot since the twenty third day of December. Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!

    • DaveH

Are you coming out of the closet Norm? You would prefer tyranny?

    • John

      Norm,

And what about the left-wing hate machine that is known for constantly spewing hatred and name calling?

They never add any thing substantive too any of these conversations on this site.

    • Tinwarble

      Norm,

First, you should know (actually I know that you don’t know, but I will tell you) we are not a Democracy, we are a Republic, or at least that is what we are supposed to be. You say that the “right wing hate machine” is scaring all its listeners. Well, what part of, if we don’t pass Health Care millions of people are going to die in the street, isn’t a scare tactic.
Also, when the Mountain starts crumble down on top of you, you don’t climb it anyway & hope that you survive the avalanche, you run in the other direction. Just because something needs to be fixed,
doesn’t mean trying something stupid to fix it. You wouldn’t drive your car off a cliff just because the engine oil light came on.
Another thing, you truly show your lack of intellect when you say that we have little security, bla-bla-bla. How can you say that when we have not had another attack since 9/11 on American soil. How much security do you need, do you want someone to hold your hand while you cross the street. And Obama is not cleaning up any mess, if anything he’s doubling down. He’s not sweeping up the floor, he’s just putting paper over the top of it then taking a piss on it.
You also take James Madison out of context, the word “liberal” did not to Madison mean the same thing that it means now. He meant “liberal” as in “concerned with freedom”, he being an educated man would have used it as it was meant in its root word “liber” meaning free & as it was used in the past as meaning individual freedom.

  • kevin

Its a perfect example of ” We The People ” losing control of our government . There’s so many beliefs that this country was built on slowly eroding(to eat into or away by slow destruction of substance) away , while the majority of Americans set idly(not turned to normal or appropriate use) , contempt with allowing things like this to happen .
Do you really believe that government can fix an issue such as Health Care ? How niave(deficient in worldly wisdom or informed judgment) and gullible can you be . THE ABSOLUTE WORST health coverage for people on a Medical Card is ran by the government funded by “US”. You are not a person you are a number , ive seen the incompedence of Governement health coverage in action . And we allowed these politicians( people who we voted into office) to cram this worthless piece of crap(Inflected Form)legislation down our throats .
This is a highly offensive intrusion(the act of wrongfully entering upon) that merits a complete Impeachment of those involved in its passing .

    • Dennis

I aggree 1 million % Impeach them all starting with Obama.

    • http://victorbarney@embarqmail.com Victor L Barney

We all ready LOST CONTROL of the government, if we ever actually even had it? Again, what are you going to do if and WHEN Obama stops the 2010 election and all elections from then on under the cover of the G.W. Bush “Domestic Terrorist Bill?” Impossible? I used to think that openly defying our constitution was considered treason and punishable with the death penalty! Obviously, I was wrong!

    • IRATEGRANDMA

kevin–If you are going to so arrogant as to think you have to provide definitions for BIG words, you should also buy an english grammer and spelling book to go with your dictionary. Have to say, however, you’re thinking in the right direction. Just come down to our level and assume that prople are smarter than you think they are and go forward with something positive to do about the situation. God Bless Us All!

  • Arnold Prisco

All who voted for this Bill should be made to look for a new job when they come up for re election

    Who agrees with this???

    • Richard Pawley

Now here is a happy thought for New Years Day. It is just 305 days to election day (if we can keep Congress from destroying the dollar by then).

      • http://victorbarney@embarqmail.com Victor L Barney

What are you going to do if Obama stops the 2010 election with the cover of the recent G.W. Bush’s “Domestic Terrorist Act?” What can you do, really?

      • JC

You could start by acting and talking like an American, and see where it goes.

      • DaveH

The Union would split apart if that happened and Obama couldn’t do a thing about it. Well, maybe he could throw his teleprompter at somebody.
I would love it if the conservative states seceded and left the Liberal states to impoverish themselves.

      • Normal Guy

        DaveH

So you want to destroy this great nation, break it apart, you are clearly an idiot, and a traitor. Why don’t you go and push your ridiculous Libertarian garbage in some banana republic.

Americans, real Americans, work to improve and participate in the greatest union. the greatest nation on the planet. Any citizen that wants to break this country into a state of anarchy is below contempt and dangerously stupid.

You are not anything but vile. Get out of this great nation and spew your right wing extremist idiocy to some dictatorship.

      • DaveH

You wouldn’t know any “Real” Americans Normal Liberal. The Real Americans are sick of what you and your Liberal buddies have done to this once Free country. You wouldn’t know how to function without stealing other peoples’ money behind the facade of a voting booth.

      • Normal Guy

        DaveH

I know a traitor when I see one. Only a gutless loser would propose the destruction of this nation. You are below contempt, a seditious anti-American who thinks he is bigger than this country. America IS a great nation has been since it was founded, your simplistic view of the solution to a perceived – mostly paranoid delusional – problem is laughable. You are a weak minded moron, proposing anarchy – and you sir should be ashamed of yourself.

The USA will continue to be the guiding light of freedom in this world; it will change but continue to provide tremendous opportunities for all American citizens. I believe in the pledge of allegiance – one nation indivisible – treason is not acceptable, go away.

      • Claire

DaveH—Surely you or anyone else on this site does not want any of the states to secede. I have been to almost every state in America showing my dogs. I have traveled all over in my big (now 15 years old and still going) Chevy van. I have met so many wonderful people in every state. I have seen a lot of beauty in every state. Dear God, there has got to be a better way. We as American must unite somehow. We cannot go on like this. It would break my heart to see any of the states secede. America is so great and beautiful in so many ways. I just cannot imagine this happening. I have always felt grateful to be in this country and I know all of you on this site feel the same way. We have to love thy neighbor. We must get along and unite for the sake of America. I believe everyone on this site is a good, decent human being—I have said this before and I will say it again. We need to iron out the differences. After all, we all want our country back. We all want to restore the rights for freedom.

      • DaveH

Notice Folks all the name-calling and vile ridicule that spews from Normal Liberal’s mouth when somebody takes a stand he doesn’t like.

The fact is that the Federal Government is breaking the rules of the Union (The Constitution) which they swore to uphold. The Federal Government is exercising powers not given to them in the Constitution and many of them are lawyers so they can’t plead ignorance.

Would you engage in any contracts where some of the participants were making up their own rules in their favor?

Notice also that Normal Liberal professes intelligence, yet he supports a political party that is embraced mostly by the lowest wage earners. I guess they are making those lower wages because their intelligence precludes them from wanting higher wages:

Legal secession would very likely lead to another civil war just as it did in the 1860′s. While this is not a “pretty” option, I have to wonder just how we’re going to roll back the socialist cancer the traitors in the White House are bring to us.
Yeah Dave, I notice the name calling, it’s all they’ve got.
I’m sure the British saw the founding father’s as traitors too.

      • Claire

I agree with JC–it would likely end up in a civil war.

      • DaveH

I don’t think so. The parameters are entirely different this time. The North was able to rally their people to fight against the South because of the immorality of slavery. Today the roles are reversed. The Federal Government is on the side of immorality – stealing the money of others with their wild spending either through taxes or inflation (the result of excess money issuance), and forcing laws on citizens with no Constitutional authority to do so. They are the immoral ones. It is doubtful they could muster the support of the lazy Liberals to risk their lives when the Conservative States are simply withdrawing from an unholy Union.

      • DaveH

Also, they would still have their own States which they could drive into the ground with their pie-in-the-sky uneconomical schemes.

      • JC

        Probably True Dave.

      • Joe H.

        DaveH,
don’t mind Abnormal Gay!!!! I am sure you don’t want to see any of the states leave the union. I don’t either and pray it never happens in my lifetime. I’m sure that you were trying to state what could happen if the present tide isn’t stemmed!!!

I don’t believe anything is as simple was we would like to believe, or as complicated either. I believe that our government never really has been about anything but about the government itself! Also, all the “people” honestly do not know that what is going down economically is going to destroy us more sooner than later. Why do they think that way? Vanity! Vanity allows them to go aimlessly on both to their own and our destruction! And it’s not about us, it’s only about them in their thinking! It is only about more POWER AND CONTROL! This “lust” will never end until it is too late and everybody in this country has nothing, nothing at all! So sad but true!

    • Dennis

What i don’t understand is that we all know it, A healthcare bill that 61% + do not want, Its not healthcare its 2700 pages of Government Control,A Government take over of our FREEDOM. Talking is not enought its time to Impeach them all.

      • http://victorbarney@embarqmail.com Victor L Barney

HOW? THEY CONTROL THE HOUSE, SENATE, AND JUDICIARY, NOT TO MENTION THE WHITE HOUSE! THEY EVEN HAVE POWER TO STOP THE COMING ELECTION IN 2010 AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT WE CAN DO ABOUT!

IT’S CALLED THE “FUNDAMENTAL CHANGE IN GOVERNMENT” THAT HE (OBAMA) PROMISED AND WE VOTED FOR, ISN’T IT???

      • JC

Wow Victor…I’m sure glad George Washington didn’t feel that there was “nothing we could do about it”.

      • http://victorbarney@embarqmail.com Victor L Barney

George Washington was a third degree Mason, as was Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, on and on. Now, Ben Franklin also was an Illuminati member, “another” secret society like the Masons, but they (Illuminati)under Adam Weishaupt (founder, best friend, was Karl Marx), also created the “New World Order” Secret Society in 1776 (May). History indicates that without the “commoner” from Boston, Ben Franklin, the United States would not have made it past go! What do the 3rd degree Masons and the Illuminati have in common? They worship “Lucifer” as the rightful “Savior” of the world! Problem, as FDR, if they had not kept it a “secret,” they would have been burned at the stake! As the Bible quotes: “You will be cursed when you come in and you will be cursed when you go out” — “unless those days be shortened no flesh shall survive, but —.” PS: Hope that you are Catholic, because in 1520 the Pope requested a Spanish Priest, Petrus Galatinus, to replace the “Jewish Messiah” with a name to honor the Greek’s Highest Deity, Zeus; and he came up with “Jesus,” which has been accepted by the world world! How about that piece of history!

      • Claire

Victor L Barney—My husband is a 32nd Degree Mason. I have questioned him about the Masons’ so-called worship to Lucifer and his answer was: They are nuts. I believe my husband of 50 years, We hit 50 years December 20th. If he worshipped Lucifer we would not have stayed together. Enuf said.

      • JC

Gee Victor, I guess you’re right. We might as well just all go and hang ourselves.
Ya know what? You are nothing but bad energy. Rather than telling everyone how helpless they are why don’t you find another hobby?
As for myself, I don’t give a rat’s ass whether or not G. Washington was a mason. He ran a revolution against tyranny and we may need to do the same.
So let me ask you this Mr. depresso…what are YOU willing to do to restore the Republic? I mean other than telling everyone it’s all hopeless?

      • Dennis

If that happens then the people will have to fight to take our country back Obamas UN army will not be enought, THIS IS OUR COUNTRY NOT HIS.

      • Joe H.

        Gee Victor,
Maybe you’re right, and it’s hopeless!!! Perhaps you should lead the way and show us how to end it all and put ourselves out of our misery!!!! Tell you what you go ahead and if I’m not there in 5 minutes you start without me, o.k.?

        Here’s a thought from a newsletter I get:

        Gold and Guns
by Doug French on January 1, 2010

In his extraordinary book Democracy: The God that Failed, Hans Hermann Hoppe points out that the process of civilization is stopped when government continually violates property rights.

The natural process of civilization comes through delaying consumption, saving, and building capital. Undoing it leads to higher societal time preference.

When natural disasters strike or a gunman robs you in an alley, “the effect of these on time preference is temporary and unsystematic,” Hoppe explains.

Victims are entitled to defend themselves against the individual aggressor and prepare themselves for the calamities of the occasional act of God. Resources will be reallocated to defend one against potential robbers, and provisions will be made for potential natural disasters.

However, when government aggresses, it is considered legitimate and “a victim may not legitimately defend himself against such violations.” Democracy legitimizes this government aggression because the violence is sanctioned by a majority of voters.

This decivilization process that Hoppe describes continues in fits and starts. The uneducated continue to live in never-never land, believing that each new ruler means change and that their lives and happiness can safely be put in the hands of a kind and caring government. But government’s current ham-handedness — with its bailouts, money printing, and rights violations — has alerted more than a few individuals to do what comes naturally: defend themselves and prepare for the worst.

        The rest of the article:

Good article i also get Gold an Guns. People need to get it out of there heads that the Government is law, They can only do to us what we allow them to do.

Our Government is in takeover mode right now, and our supposed Representatives act more like dictators than Reps.
I would never have thought we would be experiencing this in the United States, but we sure are.

      • JC

Right Don, preparing for the worst is always a bad idea.

The only time an election can be delayed is when the president himself puts the election on hold during a war.

There are no provisions for anyone, including the president to delay,
or “call off” the elections being held in November 2010.

Those of you that ask what people can do to fight back against this type of government need to take a serious look at the Tea Party movement. It’s not restricted to any political group. There are people from all parties involved.

We are no less than our forefathers, we can turn our country around IF we all stand together.
The healthcare bill does indeed contain a lot of things that the government denied would be included. There are death panels, and there is also a clause concerning healthcare for seniors. (age 60 and up)You can’t just call up your doctor and sechedule an appointment, you must first see your Guardian, one will be appointed for you. The guardian is not required to have a medical background. This so called
guardian will be the person that will decide whether you can see a doctor…or not… wise up folks…we are in trouble here.

      • BOE

Carol..are you kidding? Obama doesn`t abide or care about any laws, rules or our constituion. He does as he pleases. He has already set in place things that are not getting reported in the news. And he can call marshall law and postpone the elections. You have heard how he and Pelosi and the news organizations have described us Tea Party people as gun toting, right wingers…they (Obama) are just laying the ground for marshall law. I only see one way out…

      • kattie chg.

I double that vote, and quickly we have to take action…to save our great country!! I say also, we need to rid ourselves of the UN, let the European Union, take them, and whats more, “house the union on their grounds” to rid us Americans of the expense burdens!!!

  • realbigal

Maybe the computer nerds among us can develop a program of “creating” millions of phantom citizens who will clog the bureaucracy and bring socialized medicine to its needs before it completely destroys freedom and society. We should not even be needing to fight this battle against Orwellicare. It is so clearly unconstitutional that any Senator or Congressman who has voted for it is clearly a traitor to the American way of life.

  • Garry Gentry

The only reason the polls show people oppose it is that the progressives on the left realize it is nothing more than an insurance company welfare bill and they want real reform like Medicare for all. This bill is masquerading as reform and “free” market and it is a sham.

    • Time

How true, this really has nothing to do with Health care at all as anyone who has read any of this bill can see quite clearly. What is it then? Total control not unlike Hitler in 1936.

      Polls are taken with the advantage of a “known turn out,” thus they have little to no value. Here’s an example;
If you know you have a location that harbors more that 80% of the demographic your looking for you have a winner. Thus you have a probable outcome of at least 60% positive. With a possible 20% negitive, and a 20% un clear.

Questions are pointed as well have little sway room, thus your get the results you are looking to premote.

What do you have left, the results you wish to push as your agenda.

The facts are I speak with hundreds of people per week from all over the world let alone the US, the common question I get from people not in the US is what are we thinking? Why are you doing such crazy political moves?

In the US I have yet to speak with anyone who supports the O admin in any way, shape or form and not a single supporter of the Congress behavior.
As well most people that I know and speak with that are Democrats, few voted for him, now thats wierd but what really is strange is that the few I know that did vote for him; are “not happy” with him at all.
Not a single person has any interest in this alledged Health Care package. So whats that tell you?

      • BOE

It has nothing to do with health care..it has to do with control of the people. When you have a socialist agenda of course people are opposed…but you start with health care and wear people down and make them dependent on the government. I have never understood why the black folks want to live on welfare, low income housing and food stamps..it just makes them slaves to the government. Jesse Jackson,Al sharpton and the NAACP have done their on people a horrible dis-service ..and Obama is doing the same, spreading the wealth..what bull-sh@#!! They should be encouraging education, get a good job,,support your family, have pride in your life. But nooo..make us all pitiful helpless people dependent and poor on the gov. That SOB Obama!!

      • Tinwarble

        BOE,

You are right, but it started long before the Health Care debate, this has just put it front and center. Our rights have been eroding for a long time, most people just didn’t want to see it. Every time the government has said, “we do this for the good of the people” we have lost something.

      • denniso

Corporations have been taking over the gov’t for decades while the right wing has aided them and at the same time blamed the Dems as ‘big brother’. The vast majority of thinking people want healthcare reform and change…the Repubs resistance to any change and moderate Dems combined to water down the bills to the point where they lost some support of the people…that doesn’t mean that people don’t favor reform. This bill could start the process of reform and be modified in time to enact real change.
The ‘mandates’ will be found unconstitutional or politically impossible, and dropped.
Healthcare reform is NOT about control..it’s about fighting back against ins corporations that CONTROL our lives and deaths way too much.

      • George

        Denniso,

For one, I’m looking forward to future modifications to the health care bill when conservatives retake control of the government. I’m looking forward to them killing the public option, removing paid-for abortions, enacting tort reform, opening competition among insurance companies across state lines, expanding medical savings accounts with fewer restrictions, giving people the right to decide whether to buy or not buy insurance, and removing illegal immigrants from free health care insurance. Now that’s “change we can believe in.”

      • http://www.yahoo.com ron

Reagan said; One of the traditional methods of imposing statism or socialism on a people has been by way of medicine.

Reagan described the movement to impose statism through health care as a threat that was imminent.

        Here’s what Reagan said

The doctor begins to lose freedom…. First you decide that the doctor can have so many patients. They are equally divided among the various doctors by the government. But then doctors aren’t equally divided geographically. So a doctor decides he wants to practice in one town and the government has to say to him, you can’t live in that town. They already have enough doctors. You have to go someplace else. And from here it’s only a short step to dictating where he will go.

        Reagan continued

All of us can see what happens once you establish the precedent that the government can determine a man’s working place and his working methods, determine his employment. From here it’s a short step to all the rest of socialism, to determining his pay. And pretty soon your son won’t decide when he’s in school, where he will go or what he will do for a living. He will wait for the government to tell him where he will go to work and what he will do.

Reagan closed by telling us the price of not taking action to stop this threat

And if you don’t do this and if I don’t do it, one of these days you and I are going to spend our sunset years telling our children, and our children’s children, what it once was like in America when men were free.

Reagan had a talent for getting to the heart of the matter and his words are as true today as they were back then.

This so-called move to radically change our health care system by putting the federal government in charge has nothing to do with making health care more accessible, more available and more affordable .

It’s more about the desire of politicians in Washington to impose greater centralized government control .

We can’t thank you enough for all you have done to defeat ObamaCare thus far. But all Americans must continue to make their voices heard against this government takeover of health care. We must continue to fight, or the result just may be telling our children and grandchildren what it once was like in America when men were free.

      • denniso

ron, quoting Reagan is like quoting Elmer Fudd..NO credibility on anything! Reagan knew almost nothing about anything except how to do what his handlers wanted and how to act poorly. Next, I guess you’ll be quoting the true moron,Shrub,on economics or engineering or science or honesty.

well, well, well!!! Sounds like denniso is still blowing steam.

I have missed you guys, and I have a lot of catching up to do. Just landed in Texas early this afternoon, and got to my ranch. Thought I would see what was going on. Have court dates coming up, but will be able to comment a little every once in a while.

Clair, what have you got yourself into? Sounds like a bunch of BS to me. You are definitely not anything like normal guy. He’s got a short fuse and goes off way to quick. You hang in there girl. We’ve got you covered!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cr747—Seems like I can get myself in a bind at times. But, sometimes it is my fault, and I admit it.
Sincerely hope your holidays were great. It doesn’t seem possible that Christmas and New Years Day were here and gone. Now here is to a great New Year. A lot of things are going to happen, it will be interesting to see how things play out. I hope they get better, but I rather doubt it. Americans must stand up and fight for what we believe. Our government is in a shambles and it must come to a screeching halt. I am really disappointed in the way they are slamming things through and they are doing anything to get the votes. I can’t imagine they are so blind to the fact that this agenda will turn out to be a disaster for all of us.
This is off the subject but I have to tell you that my son bought a remote control helicopter at Christmastime. It is good size. Like you, he loves flying too. It is an awesome gadget. All of us have a lot of fun with it outside. He loves the F16s and the 787.
        Have a good day.

Claire, Those radio controlled choppers are great fun. I have “played” with them, and the kids all have a blast with them. They are really quite amusing to adults, kids have a tendency to crash them until they get used to them, but with a little practice and supervision though the kids can learn pretty quick on how to fly them.

I love the new 787. It is one hell of a jet.
