China’s Century: The Impending Threat to America and the Dollar

December 16, 2009 by

China’s Century: The Impending Threat to America and the Dollar

“India conquered and dominated China culturally for 20 centuries without ever having to send a single soldier across her border”—Hu Shih, 20th Century scholar.

We are a little more than two weeks away from the second decade of the 21st century. More and more it is beginning to look like China’s century.

It’s been 60 years since the Communists seized power. According to Fareed Zakaria, the host of CNN’s Fareed Zakaria’s GPS, “Mao Zedong dragged the country through a series of catastrophic convulsions that destroyed its economic, technological and intellectual capital.”

But in December 1978 Mao’s successor, Deng Xiaoping, gave his famous cat speech which marked the fulcrum upon which the giant nation turned. At a Communist Party meeting he urged economic development over ideology. “It doesn’t matter if it is a black cat or a white cat,” said Deng. “As long as it can catch mice, it is a good cat.”

The question three decades later is what exactly is the Chinese cat hunting? Is it cooperation with the United States and the continued development of the global economy, or is it the relentless pursuit of global power and resource wealth? All the evidence is not yet in, but what we do know seems to indicate the latter with all its chilling ramifications.

But any discussion of China has to be first and foremost about its incredible economy, for the nation has risen towards superpower status in such little time. It is an economy that has doubled every eight years for the past three decades!

Just consider the following:

  • China has foreign exchange reserves totaling almost $2.2 trillion, double the next largest holder, Japan.
  • The number of cars driven in China doubles every three years.
  • China is the world’s largest producer of coal, steel and cement.
  • Twenty of the world’s fastest growing cities are all in China.
  • China manufactures two-thirds of all the world’s photocopiers, microwave ovens, DVD players and shoes.
  • Starbucks predicts that sometime next year it will have more cafes in China than in the U.S.
  • China is the world’s second largest defense spender (behind the USA).

It’s the final item that reveals the claws in China’s carefully crafted Panda Bear self-portrait.

A 2006 U.S. Department of Defense assessment of China was chilling. According to that report the Pentagon viewed China as the next big military threat to the U.S. “There are some real concerns about China’s military modernization,” said Adam Segal, senior fellow for China studies at the Council on Foreign Relations.

Then in 2009 a report from the Council on Foreign Relations said that China has been steadily building up its strategic and conventional capabilities since the 1990s.

According to U.S. defense experts, in 1990 China had a “bare-bones” military: basic capabilities, but nothing sophisticated or top-of-the-line. But two decades of double-digit spending increases have completely changed that picture.

The Pentagon estimates China’s total military spending for 2007 to be between $97 billion and $139 billion, as compared to $52 billion reported by China.

According to the Council on Foreign Relations most of that spending has gone to building a sophisticated, modern military: a large, increasingly capable fleet, an air force stocked with Russian warplanes, and technical strides which have improved China’s ballistic missile arsenal, as well as satellite surveillance, radar and interception capabilities.

“(U.S.) Hawks insist that the Chinese are seeking to drive the U.S. military out of the Pacific, and make it Beijing’s lake rather than what it has been for decades, an American pond,” said Time Magazine in an April 2009 issue.

China is constructing a nuclear aircraft carrier with a lethal and global reach to support its growing fleet of technologically advanced nuclear submarines.

Why is Beijing arming itself to the teeth? Perhaps for global dominance. Perhaps just for the natural resources it needs to sustain its growth: Core among them being oil.

This year Asia will have consumed about 50 percent of Middle East exported oil. China understands it might have to count on its military to lock-in future supplies.

That could mean another arms race or worse. That is something the U.S. can ill afford.

Another Golden Empire
China is also arming itself with gold.

According to the China Gold Association, Chinese demand for gold could total more than 16 million ounces this year, up from 12.9 million ounces in 2008.

China has also become the world’s largest gold producer, having surpassed South Africa in 2007.

“China is likely to become the number-one supplier and consumer of gold this year,” said Rozanna Wozniak, investment research manager at the World Gold Council.

On Nov. 31, China’s Economic Information Daily published remarks by a senior Chinese official indicating that Dubai’s debt crisis could be a good opportunity for China to purchase gold and oil assets.

Ji Xiaonan (Chairman of the Supervisory Committee overseeing large state-owned enterprises) was quoted as saying that the Dubai debt crisis "could give China an opportunity to put some of its foreign exchange reserves into gold or oil."

Just two weeks ago Ji Xiaonan said that China should increase the amount of gold it holds in reserves to reduce potential losses from a depreciating dollar. Currently China has relatively small gold reserves, just 1,200 metric tons or about 7 percent of the world total.

But Ji Xiaonan wants to change that. He wants China gold reserves to reach 6,000 metric tons within three-to-five years and possibly to 10,000 metric tons in eight to 10 years. (Ten thousand metric tons represents 350 million ounces of gold or about four years of global gold production.)

Money is Not a Problem
China has a lot of money to invest in gold and other real assets. It has foreign currency holdings of $2 trillion which include $800 billion in U.S. Treasury debt. With that kind of dollar exposure it is little wonder that China wants to increase its gold reserves 10-fold.

This will be an unprecedented national build-up of official gold reserves (in fact for the past 50 years most nations have been net sellers of gold). China’s radical increase in its bullion reserves is likely a harbinger for much higher prices for the Midas metal. How high is anyone’s guess, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see gold above $1,500 by next spring.

Action to take: Don’t be surprised by a correction in the price of gold going into January. I think that over the very short-term the bull is tired. Over the long-term the bull market in gold is very much alive. I recommend you use any correction to add to your physical gold holdings in anticipation of considerably higher prices in 2010.

Yours for real wealth and good health,

Just as it states in the Bible in the last days; China will be significant; the last war it states an army from the East; Kings from the East; { China } will send an army of 200 million solders across the Euphrates river to fight in the middle east; China now has over 200 million solders now; they could send 200 million and still have reserves at home; just as it states in Russia will align itself with Iran; first time in over 3500 years; Ezekiel 38-40 speaks about the future about a leader who will want to wipe Israel off the face of the earth with Russia help but it states Israel will destroy Iran; the description of the attack sounds just like a nuclear attack; events are close. Mike

    • Joe H.

      Mike,
It states that does it? It mentions Russia? It says RUSSIA? Or does it say the great bear from the north? That could mean anything!!! the Bible also says beware the false prophet!!! I guess you forgot that Right? I suggest you read the last paragraph of the King James version!!! The one about adding to the words or taking away from the words of the Bible!!!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I agree Joe. So many think the Bear means Russia and the Eagle means America, but its just pure speculation on that. It could mean a myriad of things. Russia in irrelevant, and at the rate we are moving away from God and goodness, by the end, we probably will be irrelevant also.

Like almost all threads on this site lots of paranoia and misinformation very few facts. China is spending about 13% of what the USA is on military expenditures. The US will spend about $607 billion on the military this year, China about $84.9 billion. Our spending is $200 billion more than the next nine nations combined. The US contributes about 41% of all military spending in the world.

Anyone on this thread ever been to China? Anyone personally know anyone who has extensive knowledge of China? You know like real information, facts and stuff.

My brother is a teacher, he lived in China for five years working in a private school for gifted children. The Chinese are very entrepreneurial, they want to succeed as individuals, there is huge pressure on the Totalitarian state to adjust and there are cracks showing. People are not allowed to freely locate where they wish (you can’t move to a city without permission) but they are extremely disciplined. They understand that in a nation as populace as China that many restrictions are required.

All the dopey comments regarding trade, if Americans had to pay for goods all produced in the States the standard of living would fall through the floor as costs shot up. We can’t compete on labour so we have to compete on other things. Unfortunately, Americans are not getting educated; the quality of students coming out of India and China blows us away.

We are supposed to be the great free market nation, we lose on labour, it has been that way since the 60’s when Japan first started re-emerging. So we had better face the reality that our corporations need to be global and our products need to be sold globally, competing where we can win, investing where there is growth. The isolationists out there are way off the mark, if we don’t compete and learn how to win in today’s world then the US era is coming to a close. China, India, Brazil, and much of Asia is emerging, they will have growing pains, there are places that we can win – information technology and technology – robotics, finance, systems analysis etc. These are opportunities, we can compete and win but not if we don’t get in the game.

You forgot to mention that China in not an aggressor by history, although Mongolia is more so; and I do not believe that they are foolish enough to start a war with the U.S., who by history will “nuke” them to death before dying themselves, just to make ourselves feel better!

      • American Citizen

China is not an aggressor? What about Vietnam when they backed the North Vietnamese? If they would attack us, where do you think the first strike will be, your hometown?

    • Joe H.

      Abnormal and Victor,
first abnormal,if youmthink the Chinese leadership are such loving people, you and your brother are still free to immigrate there. Oh, that’s right, they won’t let just anyone immigrate there, will they? Dam I guess the U.S. is the only ones that will let that happen!!!
      Victor,
Right, the U.S. is going to start the war that will end it for all the world. Right!!! As you were told above PULLLEAASSE!!!!!

      • DaveH

But Joe, Normal Liberal’s brother lived in China for 5 years. I guess he got an honorary Chinese History and Chinese Political Science degree for that five years. Hmmm, I lived on a farm for 3 months, does that mean I’m an agricultural expert?
        From Normal’s comment:
“Like almost all threads on this site lots of paranoia and misinformation very few facts”.
I guess he means like the misinformation and few facts he posts.
Like any Liberal he must use his manipulative techniques of name-calling, ridicule, and condescension – as if that somehow makes him correct.
And he said “They [the Chinese] understand that in a nation as populace as China that many restrictions are required”.

Interesting that Switzerland has a larger population density (as do many other countries) than China and they don’t need all those restrictions.

I’m sure he would find some way of excusing the massacre by the Chinese Government at Tiananmen Sqaure.

      • Normal Guy

        Oh Dave

Are you getting a little cranky? You really are quite funny. Good luck with your life, being a fringe minority Libertarian Zealot really is pretty limiting. Oh check out the Libertarian experiment in Iceland, again like New Zealand, Chile and big Al Greenspan. A Failure, this time they bankrupted the country, I think it is a new record.

If you and your Ultra dim cohorts stop whining and complaining and contributed something to society (again have you ever done anything Dave?) maybe your world view would become a bit more realistic…YA probably not.

You know the sweet part for me, life is great, and business is a worthwhile challenge and a lot of fun. The world is fascinating in all its facets and I interact with totally cool, wonderful people every day. Dropping in here occasionally and reading all the twisted, conspiracy laced world views just makes me appreciate the real world that much more. Opportunities abound, economic disruptions, like the one created by W and crew, are a pain in the butt but also times to readjust and find new opportunities.

I have the privilege every day to interact with Intelligent, interesting funny people building our businesses, looking for solutions to problems and creating opportunities. It is great to interact with people that know how to make good things happen; people that rarely whine and complain they just get things done.

You seem to be a bitter, pitiful sad little man, rant and spew your one note symphony all you like, you don’t have a clue. Thanks for a good laugh, I have to get back to work.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Why do you call yourself Normal Guy? Dude, seriously, your not normal. Get over yourself.

      • Joe H.

        normal guy,
Yes China spends 13% of what the U.S. spends on defense. They pay their workers about 10% of what the U.S. pays their workers so actually they’re spending More!!!! Get Real!!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Funny how you left wing liberals, if you cant attact someone on the right, you attack the libertarians now. Both the Republicans and the Libertarians are credits compared to your left wing liberal pacifist appeasing American hating Democrats.

      • DaveH

        And Joe,
Before we get to feeling too sorry for ourselves (having to put up with Normal Liberal) we should think about his poor wife. We only occasionally have to put up with his controlling childish behavior. She has to put up with it every day.

      • Normal Guy

        Dave

My bet, you’re single or divorced.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

He is anything but normal dave. I think he is a closet homesexual with pent up aggression and he needs to release it. Maybe Dr. Kevorkian could help.

      • Normal Guy

God will reject you Bebe boy. smug it up while you are here.

      • Joe H.

        normal Guy,
and you think he won’t reject your smug, holier than thou attitude???? Who do you worship, the god of the Vegas highly rollers?

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

No normal, actually God loves me very much. He has opened my eyes and ears so that I know when I hear blatant lies and that I can see blatant unqualified people like Obama running for office, so I do His work on earth here, and try to educated people to learn about these guys before they vote for them. Evidently, millions of people did not do this last election. Now the facts are, had all these people had their eyes and ears opened, they would have recognized this evil guy and his evil party for what they are, a group of baby murdering, gay exalting, anti American, self righteous prideful buffoons that seek only power and money for themselves, and do not represent those they were elected to represent, and I abhor people like you that choose to not get educated and see who you are voting for. But rest assured, God loves me very much, if He didnt, He wouldnt have sent Jesus Christ to die on the cross for me, kapish amigo?

      • cr747

Beberoni, God bless you. God payed in awesome pain for all who believe for all our sins. Praise God!!!!!!!!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Thank you CR747, I can see you know the truth also. Thank you my brother.

      • cr747

Normal Guy, I believe if I where you I would be searching my heart to see if I had God in my life. Sounds to me like you have a problem with Christianity!!!!!!!!1

  • foreverfree

The last century was America’s century. A century driven by a nation with the code and goal of profit. This is the purest and most peaceful way a nation can exist. Well see how you morons feel when your living in a century driven by domination, conquest, and slavery. These are the tools of the Chinese.

    • Claire

And who exactly got us into this mess?

      • J C

Sadly, we sat back and watched as government after government encroached on our rights and freedoms until one day we woke up to this. And we can no longer sit back and watch.

      • Claire

Exactly. Now, the big question is: Who are you going to vote for next year? More of the same? Or vote for someone that is NOT in the Democratic party nor the Republican party?

      • J C

I would say go Libertarian or Constitution party, even independent…anything but the Dems or GOP.

      • Claire

JC — Now you’re thinking!!! I am with you on this one!!

      • J C

        Nice! :)

      • Brian H

Voting 3rd party gets Obama & friends another 4 years. Go for the primaries and get conservatives nominated, or vote independent in cases where they have a real chance to win. Protest votes feel good, but are self-indulgent and harmful in practice otherwise.

      • DaveH

You are right Claire. We got ourselves in this mess. We can blame others till the cows come home, but eventually we have to take ownership of the mess we have created.
I can only imagine how the Chinese must feel if they read comments like some of these. First they provide us with virtual slave labor, then we rag on them about the relatively small portions of money we gave them in return. China is the one with the short straw here. Their debt instruments from the US are backed by the full faith and credit of the US Government. Would that make you feel secure these days? The US could repudiate its debt. And the worst we would suffer? We would probably play hell getting anybody else to lend us money. I’m not so sure that would be a bad thing.

      • Claire

Yes, we Americans created this mess–to a certain degree–we elected these politicians thinking (hoping) they would handle our governmental affairs with the intelligence and honesty we gave them credit for (by voting for them) and it has not worked out the way we wanted. We blame Obama, we blame Bush–everybody but ourselves. It is nothing more than a blame game. We have to “pin” it on somebody! We must use common sense in 2010. Do we want more of the same? We will surely get more of the same if we vote Republican or Democrat. We are getting nowhere calling Obama every filthy name under the sun. I don’t care who the President is right now, Democrat or Republican, this is not right. This is not fair. We do not need to call our Presidents these despicable names. We do not need to listen to people and read news that is detrimental to our own beliefs. We need to use our own brains and knowledge, not listen to people that want us to come around to their way of thinking. We have to stand up for ourselves and THINK for ourselves. Why do we listen to these people that promote evil thinking and doing? Can’t we think for ourselves? Can’t we make up our own minds concerning our government? Our founding fathers sure didn’t have the likes of radical radio or TV. They certainly used their heads, why can’t we? I can well imagine the foreign countries that are our enemies are thrilled beyond belief that America is in such chaos. Our enemies are happy as larks. We are announcing our inadequacies to the whole world. I have a friend in England and she has told me that Americans are considered spoiled brats and that we should be thankful we live in America. She loves America. In a nutshell, lets get along, and try to come up with solutions, not more problems. Think when you vote in 2010.

      • Claire

Another point to ponder–why is it that we believe everything these radical nuts tell us? Is it because we want havoc? Is it because we do not have enough sense to figure things out for ourselves? Is it because it is easier to believe them rather than to find out the real truth ourselves? Why can’t we realize that these radical nuts want things their way? They delight in creating disruption. They delight in creating suspicion, and negativity. They are PAID entertainers making a fortune off the American people. To me, they are as bad as the dishonest politicians. They are no better. We listen to them and believe the tripe they spew and all the while they are getting wealthier. If we really want to CHANGE things we should get on OUR OWN BANDWAGON.

      • J C

That’s another great point. Next time they try and stampede the herd. We need to ignore them completely.

      • Brian H

You’re in dreamland, Claire. Obama is something new, in degree if not in kind. He was reared and educated in a purely leftist anti-American environment, and has been greased through his career by insider connections, achieving little or nothing on his own. From the gift of a vacated state senate seat to unearned chairmanship of a wealthy do-nothing activist foundation to presidency of the Law Society on the basis of zero university papers and the credit for a ghost-written book, to nomination and election on the backs and with the aid of abusive electoral crooks and blatantly illegal financing, despite withholding of any evidence of constitutional eligibility, he has been moved into place to institute a subservient branch-plant governing arm of globalist absolutism.

If you consider that calling him “filthy names”, then I invite you to investigate every one of the statements I made above. They are all easily substantiated, if you can be bothered to check. If you cannot, then you are a part of the problem, not the solution.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

It all started with FDR, and we never recuperated from the things he did, that the older generation thinks he is a hero for, when he sold our future down the road, and taught politicians how easy it is to lie to the people and to lie to congress and everyone else. The man was a huge liar.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

It started way back with FDR, and has gotten worse steadily ever since, but it has doubled in the last year. Sooner or later, you all gotta quit blaming Bush, and look at who is doing it. They are right in front of you, and in power now. Doubled in one year. Think about it. Or just ignore the facts, and keep your agenda.

      • J C

Yep! What we are witnessing right now is the culmination of decades of preperation. Its isn’t an administration….its been all of them to greater and lesser degrees. And now they’re looking to hit a grand slam for socialist control with Mr. HopeyChangey at the plate.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Change-Change-Change, all for the worse unfortunately.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

PS: Bankruptcy actually was made for our government, not more us!

  • cerebus23

How about the tiny fact that china has been in the midst of the greatest military buildup and modernization in global history over the last decade or so and what exactly are they doing that for? Who is threatening china that they need this massive peacetime buildup?

I suggest everyone get their head out of the sand concerning china. They hold most of the debt for the united states. They are building up their military, they have been using n korea and middle eastern countries to stir up hot spots to keep us occupied.

China’s mindset is more long term than people’s in the western world, what is their end game exactly and when will they start seriously moving on it? These are the questions that should be pondered and explored not hoping that china is going to play nice with everyone and spread peace love and lollypops.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I think their bark is worse than their bite. They couldnt hang with us.

  • http://victorbarney@embarqmail.com Victor L Barney

Question? How long before the government shuts down this web-site and comes after us?

Also, note that Ben Franklin (Illuminati member) sold America on the Roman calender time and January one even was not always the turn of the civil year in America! Ben also introduced the “New World Order” concept in America. So, we got a lot more to worry about than just China, which will figure in our future later! Further, Russia, India, and China are buying gold and do not be surprised if the criminals in Washington also have bought gold out of common sense. Unfortunately, those buying gold did steal my money so I can not buy gold!

  • Douglas C. Smyth

First of all: China is not a Communist country. It is ruled by a Communist Party, but that party has abandoned any pretense of Communism; it is simply an entrenched elite. It has put into place a state-directed Capitalism, in which a growing wealthy class is gaining a lot of power.

Second: China’s military threat is local or regional, not global. They spend about $90 billion, but the US spends $685 billion on defense, more than China and all the rest of the world combined.

Third: China has, as Nick points out, gained its position (likely pre-eminence in the world), because of its huge and disciplined population. It has viewed itself historically as the Middle Kingdom, as in the center of the world. In the limited historical perspective of Americans that sounds cock-eyed, but in terms of millennia it makes perfect sense: China is just reverting to its accustomed global position, and johnny-come-lately America is going bankrupt.

The longer the US spends upwards of two-thirds of a trillion bucks on “defense” each year, the faster we’ll be driven to the sidelines.

    • J C

Yep. Interventionism is going to be our undoing.

    • Masinn

China is a trojan horse .

    • Brian H

      Horse pucky.
As a % of GDP, the level of spending is far below peacetime maximums, much less wartime. And where do you think that money is spent? Much more of it, percentage-wise, goes to domestic suppliers than the average consumer’s budget does.

And it’s not for the amusement and enrichment of hawks. There are real issues and values involved, whether you perceive or agree with them or not. Iraq is potentially a major freedom foothold in the ME, second in importance to Israel. (Which I expect you also oppose.)

Isolationist surrender monkeys are the worst kind.

  • Nick

So, the shoe doesn’t fit so good on the other foot? America’s rise and fall over the last two centuries should be put into proper perspective. Which country had the greatest GDP for the last 9 out of 10 centuries? You got it. China. So live with it. With a population and production so much larger than ours they are simply playing with us.

And what’s with all the war mongering? I find it very telling. You’re not suggesting, I hope, that we are in the MidEast for the “O” word are you? “O” as in oil, as in their oil not our oil which we have so poorly mismanaged that we can now justify grabbing, stealing, taking?…as in might makes right? Is this where your fear lies, that China might treat us the way we have been treating others. That ain’t right.

But getting back to oil and the MidEast, I thought we were there to spread our new end-justifies-the-means torture policies and Big Bro wire-tapping democracy.

In 5000 years they have never attacked anyone outside of their own territory, where as we seem to thrive on it, at the expense (death and mutilation) of others.

    • Joe H.

      Nick,
And just how much oil have we “stolen” from Iraq? The pipeline is plagued with problems and the oil that has been pumped has been sold by the Iraqi government and they have not sold us one barrel or given the U.S. one cent or whatever their money is called! Don’t be foolish!!!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Yeah Joe. What the heck happened to all those “war for oil” guys, you know, the ones that followed the democrats cries all that time. Seems that was another lie perpetuated by the democrat heads, and their blind followers all cried it for a long time but they dont anymore, because now they see it isnt true. But they still cry global warming, and they havent seen the truth that this is another left wing lie also, but its all coming out more and more day by day.

Buy Made in America.! Only problem is we’ve outsourced most of our manufacturing jobs to China, India, etc,. If the morons in washington push another spending stimulus package, then there should be a stipulation that only products made in America can be used. Let’s see now, Obama wants to insulate American Homes. Where is the insulation going to come from? You got it, China. And the Home Depots , Walmarts and Lowes are licking their chops at the windfall profits they’ll make importing inferior Chinese products. Look what happened for Cash for Clunkers, mostly foreign cars were bought. And where were the Washington idiots who passed the bill? Give me a break. We have no one to blame but ourselves for America’s loss in economic and world power. We keep re-electing the same idiots over and over again.

Robert, most of the cure/solution is very simple. Regardless of race, creed, color or any other fact-of-life, OUTSOURCE CAREER POLITICIANS!

    • Joe H.

      Robert,
Don,t buy Milwaukee tools if you don’t want to buy Chinese either as they bought them out!!! Just moved lock, stock, and barrel there this year!! They keep the name, make them with next to slave labor, send them back here, and sell them for the same price as they were sold when they were made here!!!!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

And they probably will be about as good as a G.E. light bulb made in Mexico these days. Heck, they burn out every month now. So I wont buy G.E. brand anymore.

  • Will

China makes things and sells them to us for pieces of paper labeled $1.00. Who is the smarter party?

  • Warrior

You are Americans and you must be punished.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Sounds like a statement from the left wing in this country. They think we deserve to be hit.

  • Ed F

Great Article, but after reading the comments that some of the readers left make me wonder what did these people read. To (G.W.) if you really think that Obama is building a good relationship with the Chinese people and that China is going to work on the reducing carbon emissions you really need a reality check.

And to (Johnnyrite) that writes about the “disturbing undertones may seem to be fixated on race”
If that is the only response that you gotten out of this article, Please go back a couple of times and read again.

I do not care about the color of this man who was elected president of this country; I do care about the integrity of the person. History will show that this man was the worst president this country ever seen.

If the American people do not wake up soon, and with this current administration, this county will become a under develop nation and will we be controlled by China. China will take control without having to fire one single shot. Then you will ask yourself “ how did this Happen”

I really do not care if you believe the points that I made, But I do hope that you gather as much information from all sources and carefully look at news, and see that this great nation is going down the tubes very fast!

Last point: God Bless our Men and Women in the arm forces, may you return safely to your love ones!

    • Arkham Grundy

Bush takes the title of worst President… the most inept.

      • s c

Come on, Arkham. Comrade obama is already running circles around GB in that department. Assuming that you care (and assuming that you don’t rely on lamestream media whores to do your thinking for you), your comment is a bit tacky and mucho inappropriate.
To quote one of your friends – Paaaleeeeze!

      • Arkham Grundy

Bush could barely form a sentence let alone run the country intelligently.

      • Joe H.

        Arkham,
No, We’re talking about Bush, not you or your relatives!!!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

So, your prejudice then against a Texas accent? Thats what it is, or are you too damn dumb to know that? Are people from the south stupid to you also, because they talk different? You take the cake pal. Take a walk, and go away.

      • Claire

Talk about accents. You should hear my voice. I am not even from the South and I have one heck of a twang. I really have a sounter accent. Unbelievable.

      • Claire

I can’t even spell today. I meant that I really had a Southern accent!! But it does not bother me, I am what I am.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Arky boy is one of those people that if you dont look like him and talk like him, then you are different, and therefore stupid to him. This is just plain ignorance on his part. I would love to take guys like him, who find themselves so smart, and sit them down with George W. Bush, and have them both take the same IQ test, so that when they got done they could find out just who the dummy is, and then look in the mirror and see him. There is a dummy Arkham, and he is hiding in your bathroom right above the sink. Go in there and look, and you will see him there, right where I told you he is.

      • cr747

s c and Grundy, Obama can only wish for the brightness and the intelligence that Bush had over him. Talk about speaking, Obama can’t even read a teleprompter 5 feet in front of him without making mistakes.!!!!!!!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

And he cant articulate what he wants to say, without the teleprompter telling him what to say. He is just the figure head of the democrat party. He is no leader, in any way , shape, or form.

      • Claire

Beberoni–I sincerely hope you are not telling me that I look like him and am like him!!! I am my own person. I make up my own mind about issues, I do not let anyone sway me to do otherwise.

      • coal miner

        Arklam,

I won’t argue that.I like it when his father fainted and regurgitated his appreciation all over the Japanese Prme Minister.Buy American made products, with a union label.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Yeah, and have the government fund the unions with billions of dollars so they can get their future votes, right GM and Chrysler? Unions produce inferior products and that is why our manufacturing all is pretty much gone, because of unions. You might have a good one that keeps you safe in the coal mines, I dont know, but in the rest of life, they are a nasty terrible thing for business and quality.

      • J C

Government compliance, taxation and unions are the reason our manufacturing industry went to China in the first place.
Get the government out of the market place.

      • coal miner

        Beb,

What about Toyota? Did you hear about the floor mats and carpets that got entangled with the throtle,a whole family was killed.I bought one of those so called superior quality foreign cars,Toyota, that was fifteen years ago I nearly got killed myself. The front brake on the driver’s side grab, it turn that piece of junk all way around. That was two weeks after I purchase it.It was brand new.So I went out got me a brand new red Chevy pick up,its being running ever since, with no trouble at all.I am not the only one complaing. There were others.I only buy American, not scab foreign cars.I am ready to buy another union made car or truck.I don’t care if it is a Ford or Chevy as long it is made in America.BUY UNION MADE!PUT AMERICA FIRST!PUT PEOPLE BACK TO WORK!

      • cr747

Most all Chevy, and Ford parts are made over sea, and then assembled in the United States.!!!!!!!!!!

      • Claire

cr747—I know parts are made overseas but it makes me feel better to buy a Chevy or a Ford–An American name.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

To coalminer, just so you know, my Honda is made right here in the US, and it contains more American made parts, as do most Toyota’s, than most of the GM and Chrysler made cars, which are laden with made in taiwan parts and made in china parts. Fact. And a Toyota saved my sisters life in a car crash, it was made so on a head on crash the motor drops down, and it saved her life. She would have been dead in any American made car, except maybe a huge cadillac, but then you tree huggers on the left hate those because they use gas more.

      • cr747

Claire, I understand, I to drive a Chevy pickup. Most of the time I am in a Boeing 747.

      • Claire

cr747—Hey what do you think of the 787?

      • Claire

Beberoni—My ’92 Buick Roadmaster is huge. I think I would survive if I got in a wreck with it. It is such a behemoth.

      • cr747

Claire, the 787 is awesome!! Can’t wait to be able to get behind the controls. Like a kid with a new toy.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

To Claire: It makes me feel better to know I got a quality vehicle that is going to last and not keep costing me.

Right on the money, John! Worst of all, the Chinese have been stealing/
studying/ or if nothing else works: buying our latest technologies. However, they only ever buy ONE plant….to see just how the technology works, and probably make minor changes & copy it all over China, A friend
did just that: sold them the very latest in fluid bed “clean burning energy systems”…he reported HUGE problems that he never had anywhere else; massive headaches….and very slow pay. In the end, he capitulated
and accepted a lesser amount than originally agreed. I wonder how many
“similar” plants there are now in China, using his advanced technology,
that he never got paid for??
PLS> USE MY FIRST NAME…IT’S A COMMON PROBLEM, ESP. IN CANADA

Everyone needs to open their eyes. China has destined itself to total world domination. My company just started a factory in China so we could produce products for the Chinese market. Why you might ask? Because the Chinese government makes it extremely difficult to import goods into China. They restrict many things and overtly tax others so it makes it very difficult to compete, unless you have a factory there and are supporting their economy. And we Americans, stupid as we are, continue to buy Chinese products which will support and build them up. We better wise up and stop buying and supporting Comunist China before we wake up one day with a red flag with cute stars over our capital.

    • Arkham Grundy

We have given away our manufacturing so Americans can save a few bucks buying stuff made by children in China who barely earn enough to eat. Many people talk about patriotism, but that stops with their wallets. That is why WallMart forced so many US companies to move their manufacturing to the People’s Republic. Consumers do not realize that the money they save is false economy as we are really trading our country for cheap goods.

China could destroy us in a few days if they decided to sell off their dollars for pennies.

      • DaveH

And that would destroy us how?
Imagine that you signed a note to a friend and he then sold that note to somebody else for a fraction of the price. Do you owe any more? No. The debt instrument is just in another fellow’s hands. Your friend is the one who has lost. Maybe if the new purchaser is Mafiosa, you might be in trouble. But who is scarier to us than China?

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

The democrats who are destroying us from within.

      • coal miner

        Arkham,

You right on what most of what you said, but I wouldn’t worry about being destroyed. We always survive any crisis. Buy only american. My birthday is next week.I will be seventy-nine and got a lot running around to do. I am thinking about buying a new chevy.

      • J C

I admire your ethic….but maybe buy a Ford. At least they refused to be owned or controlled by the government and stuck to American values.

      • Claire

Coal miner–Good for you! I’ve had Chevys for years. And a few Fords, and a Jeep. I’d really like to go crazy and get a Humvee but that will never happen.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Our company owns 47 Chevy full size vans and pick-ups, and what a joke. When I first started here, we had all Fords and Dodges, but since we do a lot of work at a very large Chevy dealer in town, we switched to Chevy’s. Now the Fords and Dodges ran real good, and would go around 200,000 before they got bad. These new Chevy’s are junk. Everyone of them had the intake manifold go at 15,000 miles, and sure the warranty covered them, but it took a lot of lost man hours running them down to the dealer, and running back to get them for the fix, just to find out the gaskets all go bad in another 20 thousand miles. The radiator clamps fell off a bunch of them, the transmissions went out at 45 thousand, and fuel pumps, just one thing after another. Not to mention all the stinking recalls, where we constantly have to take them down to get the recall items fixed. This is due to union mentality on the production line, you know, the “its not my job” mentality and certain parts didnt get bolted on right, or set in right. But Ive seen enough, that this educated man will never buy a Chevy again. I had a pretty good Malibu when I was younger, but not to many Chevy’s are good. Im finding them to be the least reliable of the American made cars.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

There we go, bash Walmart, the American icon of successful business. If your going to bash Walmart for buying Chinese stuff, make sure you recognize also that they are the biggest buyer of American made stuff in the country. Tell the whole truth please. Thank you.

  • http://Don'thaveone Sally

Amen JD. What a lot of Americans don’t know because it really is a close held secret is that since FDR China has owned the US financially. This happened under gold certificates. We have borrowed so much money from China over the years and have never paid back a penny. They own us and have for a long long time. With all the stupidity of the Three Musketeers or I should say the Three Stooges (Czars Obama, Reid, and Pelosi) with Cap and Trade plus all the other idiotic proposals, thinking the rest of the world will go along — Yes, I believe in Santa Claus too. That just makes it easier for them to cash in while we have such a burden to carry on emissions that don’t mean a thing as has come out lately with the scientists saying they have made a mistake and only because thank the good Lord they got caught. Meanwhile, Gore who started this whole mess in the first place, his house uses more electricity in one month than a normal house uses in one whole year. It is soooo sad. Only way we are going to stop this foolishness, is come Nov 2010 vote out every incumbent in both House and Senate and start afresh!!!!!!!!!!

    • Frank Daly

PS-don’t forget, all those bail-out dollars that we’re using to create jobs and ‘buy stuff’ that the stuff we’re buying is made in China. So our bail-out dollars are going right back into China’s pockets.

      • Joe H.

        Frank,
Let’s not also forget that the jobs that the government “makes’ cost money, they don’t make money!! We take tax money in exorbitant amounts and they only return at the normal say 30% after loopholes, so we end up losing 70% just on the wages!!! The only “shovel ready” jobs they have are shoveling up the BS the government spreads!!!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

And also let us not forget, the Democrats dont give a crap about America, only putting dollars into their pockets. They are the mob, and thats what the mob does, they look out for themselves.

    • Chuck

I only hope enough people agree AND VOTE that we can replace pretty much all of them. I just wonder how long it will take for us to recover from the current foolishness?

Cap and Trade or National Health Care will be very hard to get rid of once they go into effect, so I am hoping we can hold off on both of those till we can cleanse the ranks of as many idiots as possible.

Honestly I am just as ready to see the totally pathetic republicans go as I am the Democrats. Well over half of the republicans are just as bad when it gets down to it.

      • Joe H.

        FLIP THE HOUSE PEOPLE!!!!!!!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

        Joe, Im all in.

  • http://hotmail JD

JC has a great point….don’t forget they are still Communists. How are they buying their nuclear capabilities and building up their military and reserves? Every time you go and buy something that says “Made In China” – the only reason we buy that stuff is because it is a little bit cheaper here. My parents and grandparents would NEVER buy ANYTHING made in a Communist country. In fact, they would be saying, “there just trying to get us in good right now”, and then when empowered, you will see the real them. With every U.S. presidential election, the question would be “is this candidate leading us closer to communism or not?” Just how many Christians are still martryed in China today? – check Voice of the Martyrs and the World Missions Encyclopedias.

    • DL

thank you, another good evidence why not to trust china. genocide in sudan, and persecution of their own christians and political dissidents. not to mention forced sterilizations and abortions.

    • Joe H.

      JD,
I find it funny how many of those that came up in the 20s and 30s who would never buy anything from a communist country do so when they get on a fixed budget!!! I see all kinds of older people in Wal-mart and other bargain stores buying up all those DVDs, Microwaves, TVs and other stuff as it’s cheaper!!!

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I have people from my church that are over there as missionairies. They have to have jobs, like running a coffee shop or a deli or something to stay there, and the bible studies are done in hiding, because if found out they will be beaten and thrown out of the country, or even killed, as would the Chinese people practicing it. The chinese government is as afraid of Jesus Christ and the truth, as the liberals are in this country of the truth.

  • Bill Fox

Remember when Japan was on course to buy the whole world?

    Then 1990 rolled around.

The majority of China’s people have not benefitted from the boom of the last thirty years. Soon the “People” will be coming to the major cities with hoes, shovels, and rakes, by the hundreds of millions, to bring about a good, old fashioned, redistribution of wealth. Then China will go back into the dimly lit fog of history, for another few centuries.

  • J C

The US is working with China to reduce emissions? Do people actually believe that? How unbelievably naieve. Under Cap and Trade China does absolutely NOTHING to reduce emissions. They do however get the benefit of American (Western) tax dollars to help them develop their nation. Has everyone forgotten they are a Communist country? Have we forgotten all the dead soldiers who fought to keep us free from Communism? Of have we just given up completely on our morals, our principles and even common sense to get in bed with Communists who don’t give a good God Damn about us…Have we become a nation of morons?

    • Anthony

      very well put JC.

    • Chuck

The short answer is yes. We have become a nation of morons.

The average citizen cannot distinguish between the fantasy they hear from their TV and the real truth. The peddlers of the fantasy want you to believe we are not doing real good – but things are improving, and we are making the world a better place – just make sure and give them more and more power so they can make it happen.

The truth is that they are concerned with power and power alone. A country with a wrecked economy is very susceptible to having any liberties they hold dear taken away, and replaced by a totalitarian regime of some kind. Look at how easy it was for Hitler to enter the scene and convince a beleaguered Germany that the Jews, gypsies, homosexuals, etc were the cause of all their problems? Very easy!

People believing the best about China are also the same ones who think the idiots peddling “Global Climate Change” are telling the truth. Of course in the 70s it was Global Cooling, then Global Warming. Then when that also does not happen it becomes “Global Climate Change”. They have to resort to deleting records to cover up the fact that they are peddling fantasy, and STILL people are so totally sold out they continue to believe.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

That second sentence was proven true on election day 2008. Morons indeed.

    • MJ Montana

We are all trapped on this same earth-ship. Of course we are all into this together. I am amazed that a totalatarian country understands that but readers of this site don’t.

      • s c

Whoa, MJ. We are NOT all in this ‘together.’ Gore and and his braindead zombies prove that every day. The same goes for any thin-skinned, ultraliberal progressive who uses pc tactics or a false religion (global warming, et al) for MONEY and POWER.
We have a lot of enemies, and many of them live in this country. Are you so self-conditioned that trees keep you from seeing the forest?
Lest I forget, if you look around (open your eyes), America is on the verge of being a totalitarian country. The titular ‘leader’ of this group is what’s-his-name in the white house.
        Earth to MJ, wake up.

      • MJ Montana

The old saying applies SC, together we stand, divided we fall, usually through warefare and social strife. Obama is at least trying to rejoin the international community. What did Bush II do besides tell the world that if they weren’t “fur us, they whera again us”?

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Correction comrade Montana. Obama seems to seek to put us under the control of all these countries, and bows down to them and harms this country day after day. He has nothing viable to offer, but to give us up, and that is what he does daily. And its wrong, and Im sorry you cant see that. He is the great divider, as he has divided this country like no one before him ever.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Gore, Pelosi, Reid, Boxer, Feinstein, Frank, Biden, Obama, Edwards, Daschle, Dodd, Shumer, Rangel, Kerry, and Clinton and the like have made it clear that we are not in this together. They have caused such a great divide between right and wrong that its not funny anymore, and they definately are not on the right.

      • cr747

I agree, all of them and many, many, more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

As said before, the real threat to us is from within, and these democrats within are not friendly to the United States of America. They would rather give lawyers to prisoners of war to defend them, and throw our soldiers in jail, than to protect and provide for our brave soldiers. That tells me all I need to know.

      • J C

Wishful dribble quite removed from reality.

      • Joe H.

        J C,
        A big amen to that!!!

  • Bo Cappella

Actually, the second decade of the 21st century does not begin until January 1st, 2011.

    • jbird

No. The first decade began on Jan. 1, 2000. So, 2000 to 2009 is 10 years, 2010 to 2019 is 10 years.

      • SS

No jbird you are wrong and Bo is right. Contrary to popular opinion, the 20th Century did not end on December 31, 1999, it ended on December 31, 2000. Think about it . . . the first century ended on the last day of the 100th year, NOT the last day of the 99th year. Therefore, the year 2000, was the last year of the previous century. But if it is any consolation, 99% of the people agree with you, even though you are wrong.

      • DL

Bo Capella is right. To make it simple, there was no year “0″ A.D (or C.E)

And this article is DEAD ON. The chinese effort at effecting genocide in Sudan- speaking of racism- is chilling evidence they don’t want to cooperate with the world.

      • Bury

This is the problem, we start talking about China and now a discussion about in what century we are. At the mean time China is getting more gold and investing in our country and taking away our jobs. We just talk and they work.

      • Claire

        So true.

      • OB1KNOB

jbird, you are ignorant (meaning without knowledge) concerning the calendar commonly used in the western world. The year 1 b.c. was followed by the year 1 a.d. There was no year zero. Ten years have to pass to complete a decade, not nine. Therefore, the first decade began on January 1, 0001 and ended on December 31, 0010, the second decade began on January 1, 0011, and ended on December 31, 0020, etc.

If we do not watch out, we Americans might be speaking Chinese and using their calendar by the beginning of the next century, which, by the the way, begins on January 1, 2101.

      • John Myers

        Dear OB1KNOB,

I knew that someone was going to say the dating in the story is incorrect. It’s not a new lecture to me. I got the first one from my father on New Year’s Eve 1989. I mentioned to him that in decade’s time we would be at the cusp of the new millennia. He too pointed out there was no year zero.

And yes OB1KNOB, technically you and Dad are correct.

That said, most people believe and accept that the 20th Century began in 1900, just as they accept that the second decade of the 21st Century begins in a couple of weeks.

Furthermore, I find that writers that are sticklers for absolute truths are usually pretty boring. If you don’t believe me, take the torture given to college freshmen students and read Plato’s Republic.

        Sincerely,

        John Myers

      • Joe H.

        John,
I don’t care which year it begins on! It is not important as the contents of this article are what matters and are very important and dire!!! There was a rumor(and that is all I can find on it is a rumor)that the national Parks were put up as collateral for the Chinese loans? I can’t say either way if it is true or not, but those parks belong to all the people and therefore should be off limits!! I don’t believe it is true but I would like to see if anyone else heard about it. Oh, and please don’t cite snopes as I don’t believe a word they say any more!!!

      • John Myers

        Bury,

I could agree with you more. Worrying about year zero while China holds over $1 trillion in Uncle Sam IOUs is the ultimate in rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

        Best,

        John Myers

  • hunter

I had to go back and reread this article three times after reading readers comments. I thought what had I misread? Turns out nothing, I belive Meyers is right on. I don’t think I could have been so easy on the communist country of China. But it isn’t all their fault, the good luck that has come their way wasn’t all hard work and peservence on their part, most of which was bestowed, given or forced on them by greedy, ingorant ceo’s of american companies. Companies that have been ran amuck by lack of stockholders control, this has been reflected by the exibortant pay of ceo’s, made possible by stocks being held in 401k’s which have no voting privileges by 401k investers. Our country has been sold a bill of goods, which the unknowing have swallowed hook line and sinker, and are so aloof they ask for more…Geeze, I can’t belive it! This country stands in the doorway to the Greatest Depression ever, and Obomba says he can pull it on through! (thru the door, to the greatest depression for those that don’t get it) Maybe some of the kool aid drinkers would be better off in Zimbabwe, where there is a lot of money and have Robert Mugabe look after their interests.

  • Johnnyrite

Is it just me or does another article by Myers have disturbing undertones that seem to fixate on race? Every time I read him its the Arabs this or the Chinese that! It is these out-dated prejudices that divide the world rather than unite it.

It time to facet he facts — a black man is running the White House.

Even a few years ago, that sentence would have seemed like a corny line lifted from a Hollywood film. In fact, for generations there have been dozens of movies and TV shows — often comedies or disaster flicks — dwelling on the improbable prospect of an African-American president.

Barack Obama has finally turned that idea — a black man in the Oval Office — from a fanciful notion into hard fact.

The history books will mark his election as the 44th U.S. president as watershed. If it is not a new era in race relations in the United States, 2009 is at the very least a stereotype-crushing fork in the road.

    • Frank Daly

It always bugs me when I hear Obama referred to as a ‘black man’ or ‘african american’…he’s not 100% of either one. He’s a biracial man with a white mother, raised by a white grandmother when his black father ‘dumped him’ as a 2 yr old and after being educated in the USA returned to Africa. Obama ‘uses his blackness’ simply to either get votes or harvest support from minorities.

      • Claire

I am German, Irish, Danish and Swedish. Does this make me a Nazi?

      • Claire

No, it doesn’t. I am an American. And I stand up for what I believe. I do not wish evil on anyone. It only comes back to haunt you one way or another.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

As long as you dont have any french in you Claire, your allright.

      • Claire

Beberoni—-that made me laugh! I need a laugh tonight! Nope, no French. I am simply aggravated over the detainees coming to Illinois. We had no say in the matter. And if Illinois gets big bucks for it, it will all go to Chicago, not to southern Illinois. We get the remnants, if anything is left.

      • coal miner

        Frank Daly,

Most american blacks are not all black. They do have white ancestry.

      • Claire

coal miner–I will tell you something– there are a lot of mixed couples here in town. And I have seen them in grocery stores, at the mall, everywhere. One thing I will say is their daughters are gorgeous. I have really seen beautiful girls that have a black father and a white mother. This does not bother me because it is none of my business and to each their own. But geez, these girls are beautiful.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Question is, what would we all be labeled as if 98 percent of white people all voted for the “white” candidate? Yet its not mentioned when it is swung the other way. I wonder why?

      • Claire

        Honkies.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Nice call Claire, and very correct. Isnt it strange that Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson can get on national TV and national radio, and say that about white people, openly calling them honkies and crackers, and nothing is said or done. How can this be? Don Imus says nappy headed ho’s and has his job taken away. Talk about your double standards. If any politician got on TV or the radio and referred to blacks as Ni—rs, he would be out of office right now. So why doesnt it work the other way?

      • Claire

Beberoni–I shouldn’t have said Honkies! Yes, there is a double standard at times. It has always been that way. Some get by with atrocities and others come out smelling like a rose.

      • denniso

Frank…what are you 100% of?? You’re bugged about Obama being called black because it’s an advantage?? Wow, are you brainwashed!! It has never been an advantage to be black anywhere except in Africa,or the NBA. You don’t like blacks and you hate Obama, that’s all.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

You are wrong denniso. It is a very distinct advantage to be black and looking for a job, because you are still considered first for employment by most companies. Your racist statements are overlooked if your black, ask Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, its a fact. If your black you can make racist statements, beat women, and its all overlooked, because to call you out, then that person is described as a racist by the liberal press. No, black has many advantages these days.

    • Sue

Johnnyrite, I cannot believe that you are pulling the “race card”. Get over it, it doesn’t matter what race anybody is. What matters is the “content of their character”. BO simply doesn’t have the experience. He was elected because of his Hollywood attributes and because the press failed to question his obvious lack of experience and other shortcomings. He will go down in history as the Presi dent who was at the helm when the cookie started crumbling. He has surrounded himself with greedy corrupt morons who put having that fancy yacht as more important than saving the financial integrity of this great country.

I wonder who the Times will have as the Man of the Year in 2010? The Fed is so corrupt and is playing a shell game. Oh, and it’s with your hard earned tax dollars.

      • Claire

American has been on a downhill slide for many many years. Think about it. Now we are reaping what all those wonderful politicans sowed for so many years. Good grief–can’t you see BOTH parties are to blame?

      • eyeswideopen

Claire, Some who are perceptive such as yourself, will see the similarities in the parties. Hang in there. Love hearing your viewpoint, always fair. Happy Christmas.!!!

      • Claire

        eyes—I wondered where you were!!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

You are right Claire. Todays Democrats are such leeches, that JFK would be running on the republican ticket if alive today, I guarantee it. But your right, both parties have been filling thier pockets for years, and the pockets of their cronies and their special interest groups, and they no longer want to represent the people that elected them to represent them. That is why in 2010, I am making a conscience effort to vote against any and all incumbant Republicans, and I hope the democrats will man up and do the same thing, and send the message to these people that we have the power, and they better start representing us, or they are out of a job. We truly do have the power, we just need to exercise it. Im going to.

      • Claire

Beberoni— I have cut back on watching the biased tv news channels and the radical radio airheads. However, I do read newspapers every day. About 2 months or so ago, I began reading the posts on these sites. Although I have not contributed a whole lot to the conversations, I have read all of these posts on every site and have really listened to what everyone has had to say. I truly believe all of the people on these sites are good and decent human beings. And although this sounds silly, I feel like I have met new people, people that I now consider my friends whether we agree with each other or not. Some of the posts I get a kick out of (funny). But more so, I appreciate the seriousness and truthfulness of what everyone has to say. It is great that we can speak our minds and have our own opinions. I have come to the conclusion that I will not vote for a Democrat nor a Republican. My husband also agrees. I believe all Americans should consider doing the same, but that is their choice. What you say is your post is true. I know what I will do in 2010.

      • Claire

Also, all of my friends are disgusted with both parties. I have already started talking to them about 2010 and 2012. If only they would vote correctly when the time comes! Past history proves that the third party never wins. It just swings the vote in the opposite direction and not always for the best outcome. There must be something that can be done. It will simply depend on the person that is running for Independent, Libertarian, etc. They would have to be a powerful person. Then perhaps a third party would take over. I shudder to think of who will be elected the next time around.

      • denniso

Sue…do you mean inexperienced like Bush was?? Do you mean like the ‘liberal’ media didn’t report on Bush’s lack of experience and checkered past?
The ‘cookie crumbled’ while Bush was in office, and that’s partly why McCain lost. Did you complain about Bush’s lack of experience and downright stupidity?? NuCUlar anyone??

      • cr747

denniso, Man you screwed up and typed the wrong names in again. I know you meant to say BH OBAMA. instead of Bush. That’s alright I caught it and straightened it out for you.
We knew you where saying how inexperienced and stupid Barrack Obama was, and that he ate the cookie instead of crumbling it.
You will be OK you are a little confused that Obama has screwed up the 11 months he’s been in office,an has to have slick Willy to help him out most, “naw” all the time.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Bush had plenty of experience you little liar. He was the Governor of Texas, and for more that a year. He was a business owner, owning the Texas Rangers. He was successful in all he did. Your Obama, was little more than a community organizer, rushed into the Illinois Senate because he represented youth, and nothing else, and bought the presidency with millions of dollars of commercials saying change change change that hypnotized the uneducated that live by the brain sucker in their living rooms. But in all facts, Bush had more experience going into his presidency in his little finger than Obama has in his whole body. But then again, your liberal butt doesnt care about facts, you just spew your hatred. Maybe if for once you expounded with some facts, someone might take you seriously.

    • jim

Hi Johnnyrite, I don’t care what color Obamas skin is, his true color is red commie.

      • J C

        Absolutely right. He’s “Their Boy”.

      • denniso

Obama is not a ‘commie’…and you don’t even know what a ‘commie’ is anyway.

      • cr747

denniso, you just answered your on statement. I didn’t know you where a RED COMMIE. We’ve probably been insulting you all alone. Need to tell people these things before you start making comments.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

        Obammie the Commie.

      • jim

Hi Denise-O, There you go making asumtions of what I do and don’t know. I know what a Commie is, un like you I am not in denial about the one you helped put in the Whitehouse and If you want to be one, that’s fine, just quit trying to drag the rest of us down with you. Why did it take you 2 days to respond? Did your local ACORN meeting run long?

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Then why is he trying to sell America down the river? Why?

    • Atticus69

There is no doubt that the election of Obama will go down as a watershed. He will be noted someday as the man who surrendered U.S. sovereignty to the UN, killed the greatest engine of wealth known to mankind (the US capitalist economy) and was finally successful in eliminating that thorn in the side of socialism, the middle class. We will all be cared for in the manner our masters have decided is in our best interests, like it or not.

      • Arkham Grundy

Just think what would be in store for us if that intellectually challenged bimbo from Alaska ever became President. Science and education would be set back 100 years and children would be taught that Adam and Eve rode to church on dinosaurs 5,000 years ago.

Putting her in line for the White house was the main reason McCain lost.

It is surprising that she has so many supporters.

At least Obama has a high IQ.

      • American Citizen

It sounds like you’ll support him no matter how far down the river he sells us. It’s like what Democrats said about Clinton, “He may be a liar, but he’s our liar.” Obama may have street smarts, but he’s not all that intelligent. Foreign countries are laughing at him. Why doesn’t he release his college records? What has he got to hide?

      • denniso

Atticus has been reading too many sci-fi novels,or Ayn Rand.

      • DaveH

        Arkham,
I am an atheist, but I have to laugh about the irony of Liberals attacking religious people for their beliefs. Because, after all, Liberalism is itself a belief system based on mostly unfounded and disproven economic concepts.

        And then there’s this:
        http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2009/12/democrats_more_likely_to_belie.html

      • Claire

I don’t want to hear that you are an Athiest. It scares me. And I am not picking on you, to each his/her own. But it just simply scares me.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

To Claire. Dont let it scare you that Dave is an atheist. Dave is a nice guy, a smart guy, and he does have morals and is a clear thinker. I am a Christian, and I wish Dave had Jesus in his life, not for me, but for him, but that is between him and God. It doenst mean that Dave and I cant have a grown up debate about things, and treat each other with respect, and converse like adults. Dave doenst downgrade or lambast me for being a Christian, and Im not about to attack him for his beliefs either. I used to basically be an atheist myself, but I found out there is a Jesus Christ and that I needed Him in my life. I would hope that for all people, but its not my place or anyones place to force it on them. Its a free will thing, just as God is free will, He doesnt force Himself on any of us. But dont be scared because Dave is different from you. Dave is a good dude.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Ark, baby. Let me educate you pal. The reason McCain and the republicans lost, is that for one, McCain is 150 years old, for two, he is a career politician that everyone is tired of, especially republicans, and three, the ticket should have been Palin/McCain, and they would have won in a landslide. You think Obama getting 95 percent of the black vote is something, Palin, regardless of what women on the left say, would have gotten 95 percent of the womans vote, which I dont know if your aware, is quite a larger chunk that that of the black vote. She would have whupped Obama big time pal, so dont be confused by what the national press lies have been telling you. They say that to try to discourage young voters from voting for her, because the liberals are scared to death of someone who actually did what they were elected to do, serve the people that elected her, balance the states budget, and give money back to the people. She will be back, and the thing you dont understand yet old Arky boy, is that your party is so low, they will throw Obama under the bus before the next election, and run Hillary or someone else. You think not? Watch and see. They are allready turning on him, and him on them, and its going to get ugly for the whole democrat party, but they cant let him run because he hasnt a chance in hell of winning.

      • Claire

I respect the fact that you like Palin, however, this country will need a woman like Margaret Thatcher. And we don’t have any. I have always respected Ms. Thatcher. She would be wonderful for America.

      • cr747

Beberoni, I to think Palin would do a great job as our Commander and Chief. A lot better job than what we have now. Obama is a disgrace to the United States by stating that we were not a christian nation. Also if it came down to it he would go Muslim
What a disgrace to our country to have someone so narrowed minded as Obama trying to lead our nation.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

He will also be known as the man who destroyed the best health care system in the world.

    • s c

No doubt about it, Johnny. It’s definitely you. Look up the definition for politically correct. It’s a condition that is easily cured. THINK, and refuse to suck up to those who demand that you to be a pal on THEIR terms.

    • Joe H.

      Johnnyrite,
I could care less if he is black, white, pink, or purple!!! The manis the weakest president we have ever had hands down!!! He has no leadership experience and has no true patriotic feelings at all!!! His aim is to make us as weak as we can be made so that we can be taken over by force!!!
There was a report out today that a major newspaper is standing by that O-man has threatened to close the Strategic Air Base down if the senator from that state did not FALL IN LINE on health care!!! That is unmitigated GALL!!! For a president to make such a threat is real close to impeachment crimes!!!!

      • Claire

        Interesting. What major newspaper?

      • DaveH

This claim has been denied by Senator Nelson, but then he is a Democrat and he may not want to make waves for his Party:
        http://www.weeklystandard.com/weblogs/TWSFP/2009/12/source_dems_threaten_nelson_in_1.asp

        Stay tuned.

      • Claire

Dave H—Oh great. I read the information. What is this world coming to? Dear God, I think we have reached the point of no return.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Ever known a democrat to tell the truth? Or 99 percent of any politicians, but especially democrats? They learned from Roosevelt that lying gets you things, and they have perfected it ever since.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Johnny only likes him because of his skin color, and I think we all recognize that. Im not politically correct, so Im not afraid of stating the truth.

    • Brandon

it sounds like you’re the racist one.he’s talking about a nation not a race,if he was talking about Africa i’m sure thats the word he would have used, not the blacks

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Make that a half black man, and he isnt do a very decent job of running anything, except his prideful mouth, and pride comes before the fall, and he is falling quick and hard. His inexperience has caught up to him, and this shooting from the hip crap isnt working, because him and his ilk, the democrats, which contain a bunch of white guys to, dont have a clue what to do. So it isnt black or white, so please, its old and worn out, put the race card away. A so called black man has achieved the highest office in the land, so there isnt no more being a “black victim”, because if he can do it, anyone can do it. The race card is broken and cant be used anymore, so put it away Johnny. Your a racist, and evidently guys like you and Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson and Rev. Wright always will be, because you hate white people. Face it and admit it, the fault is with you. This guys failing has nothing to do with color, it has to do with dumb people that voted for him because he spent millions of dollars on commercials and said change, change, change, and the uneducated bought into it. Thats it, the bottom line. He isnt experienced enough to do what needs to be done, and either are his left wing liberal pacifist appeasing cronies on the democrat side of the aisle. All they know is to grasp power, create social agencies, and take my money and give it to those that dont want to work, which I imagine you are one of them. But race has nothing to do with it, so go away you blatant racist.

  • MJ Montana

It seems to me that if China holds over a trillion dollars in U.S. dollars its leaders are going to go along with what Washinghon things is reasonable. The days of Mao like those of Stalin are ancient historty. Right now the world is even cooperating in Copenhagen at the UN Climate Conference. What more proof do we need?

    • Freeworld

Give me a break! Are you that naive to think that China would not love to take over and own America? They are well on their way do doing just that without firing a single shot. However, if it came to a showdown, I have no doubt that China would not hesitate to use its entire military might against the United States! And to my horror, that would be all she wrote for America!

      • Sue

MJ, you are probably a very nice person, but naive as all get out! FreeWorld, you are right on, but I’m not so sure the war will be a military, physical type of traditional war; the war will be a financial one and China owns the US through all of the IOU’s.

We will have to do what they say (China’s comments several months ago were very revealing – imagine what they say behind closed doors) or they will cash in their IOU’s. Japan and the UK can no longer afford to keep buying them.

There will be a stampede to the exits like you have never seen.

Are you ready? Did anyone say “bond bubble”?

      • http://victorbarney@embarqmail.com Victor L Barney

Sue, I’m not saying that China is not a problem, but I don’t think that it worries our immoral and corrupt politicians at all! You don’t think that “Bankruptcy” was met for the “regular” people like us do you? Our country can always declare bankruptcy and get out the stashed gold and start over again! We have done worse as a country, you know! As they say: “Let the buyer beware.” They’ll just sell us common folk to China for slaves, if nothing else. Remember, during WW II the Germans came here to learn our propaganda, not the other way around! Not to mention that it was us that knew everything that both Germany and Japan were going to do before they did it throughout the entire war! Please, Don’t ever under estimate our politicians!

      • Joe H.

        Victor,
and in the meantime, if we go bankrupt and start over, where do you think we are going to get the imports that we can not do without??? No one in the world will accept ANY U.S. currency after that!!!

      • Joe H.

        Victor,
got an answer to my question???

      • Atticus69

Do not be fooled by the Chinese.Climate change co-operation?China is the world’s #1 polluter.Their function in the UN debate has been to insist that they are a developing nation and therefore the U.S. and EU should have to pay them and other 3rd world counties to get green.Think about it, we borrow $ from China to pay our “tribute” to UN, who sends it to—China. In other words it is a huge shell game where we increase our indebtedness to China and get nothing in return.China, on the otherhand increases it’s leverage over us with no risk as it gets it’s $ back and has an IOU, which it paid nothing to get.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I dont think so, just not yet. You see, I still believe in this thing called God, in Jesus Christ, and so does the majority of the United States. It is all that keeps us safe these days. If we call on him, and pray for our land to be healed it will. But we are moving farther and farther away from him, and are allowing the liberal left to kick the name Jesus out of our society, and soon, the days are coming soon, when we allow the left and the special interest groups, the gays, the muslims and such to kick Christianity out, then at that point, you betcha, we will fall.

    • Dan-o

It seem to me that MJ Montana is easily Hypnotized by the media.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I read a sign in a bathroom in California once, and it said “Montana, where men are men, and sheep are nervous.”. I wonder if this was about this MJ Montana guy. Just curious.

    • s c

Whoa, MJ. China will dictate its own terms to our Washington retards. They know if America’s non-leaders continue to threaten China’s hold over us, they can lop off America’s legs at the knees.
Never underestimate the depth of raw incompetence and retardation in Washington (it’s what they do best).
As long as Americans are too lazy to keep a short leash on elected hookers, we will NEVER tell China what to do. It’s hard enough to get people to understand that it’s IMMORAL and ILLEGAL for any elected career criminals to act as though WE work for THEM.
Re-read the Constitution, and take off those blinders, guy.

      • ASGreen

There is an old saying: If you owe the bank $10,000 the bank tells you what’s up. If you owe the bank $10 million dollars you tell the bank. We are forced to take what China gives us (beggar beware). Last summer Mr. Myers spoke about the Chinese using all our debt as a political and military weapon. Basically, the can blackmail us. Forget Taiwan or else we sell you Treasuries!

      • DaveH

        Who would buy them?

      • Claire

yu are right. Who would buy them? Nobody.

    • J C

MJ, Based on how completely out of touch you seem to be, I have to ask…do you ever do any actual research or just take whatever your told as gospel? I say this because you seem like the Main Stream Media’s poster child.

    • jerry

MJ Montanna: first the Chinese hold about 800 billion U.S. dollars in their SWF, not over a trillion as you stated. second, you call whats happening in Copenhagen “cooperation” DO YOU WATCH THE NEWS? you might want to check up on all that “cooperating” going on there, because its anything BUT cooperation. All the poor countries stormed out of the conference because they realized that they were not going to get the gravy train of money from the developed worlkd that they thought they would, and I’m glad!!!!

  • G.W

What about the fact China is working with the U.S. to reduce carbon emissions? That kind of shoots your theory all to hell. Moreover, Obama seems to be building a good relationship with China, something Prez Bush didn’t bother with.

    • Daria

China co-operating with the U.S. on reducing CO2 is just smoke and mirrors. Just because the media is heralding this new age dosen’t mean any good will come of it. China has a lot to answer for in the Sudan but Obama has given them a pass.

    • http://guymartinjackson@aol.com Guy Jackson

Helllooo…Bush and the Chineese had a great deal of mutual resprct and admiration for each other. The Chineese never put Bush in front of a news conference without questions or blacked out his speeches as they did Obumbo. The Bush administration had the fore thought to PLAN THE VISIT and stipulate the rules. The Chicago gang dropped the ball and Obumbo gave a great speech to Americans only, and visited with selected students who could not even ask honest questions. The trip was a total cluster(word removed for offensive content).

      • Sue

You are right on Guy, also, those students BO talked to laughed at his comments about how strong our economy is. Just believe everything that comes out of his mouth — HELLO HELLO HELLO are any of you libs paying REAL attention?????? Some of them are starting to get it – the politically incorrect guy Bill Moyer said something like “You have got to remember that he is not your boyfriend – he is your Pres ident. Yeah.

      • Joe H.

        Guy,
It was reported today that China will not sign any binding agreement on emission cut back!!! They state that over half of its people don’t have electricity nor running water therefore it would be unfair to them to cut back!!! This means MORE coal fired power plants! Not less!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Just goes to show what inexperience brings. Also goes to show what pompousness accomplishes. Also goes to show what incompetance brings.

    • Freeworld

Wake up! Try finding the truth instead of buying what CNN tells you is the truth! America is dying and your ignorance is helping kill off what life we have left!

      • denniso

Just curious, when did America start dying? When Obama got elected??

      • jim

No, When Pelosi and Reid took over the house and senate.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Nope. It was when Clinton got elected and morality died, and immorality revisited the White House like in Kennedy’s days.

      • Claire

I am no prude, but gee whiz. It is appalling that politicians (Democrat & Republican) have all had a shot at infidelity. This tells me they are not working for America and the American people. They apparently they have a lot of free time on their hands. Egad, I would be working non-stop if I were in the White House. I would not be able to rest until the economy and this war were taken care of.

    • Sue

Check out Tony Sagami’s (Uncommon Wisdom) reports from China a few weeks ago – he talks about the horrible pollution problems in the cities; and he loves everything Asia!

Several years ago, PBS did a series on China – they talked about ALL aspects of China, including the terrible pollution problems in the rivers (many people’s only source of drinking water) and the devastating health effects this has had especially on its elderly.

Also, a friend has adopted several girls from China – she says they take special masks to wear and cannot even see across the street out of their 4 star hotel room window.

The “real scoop” reports from Copenhagen is that many countries were there hoping for a hand out from “guilty” countries like the USA (they have essentially “stormed” out); others were there so they could have a say in the control of things; The Chinese govt is very used to controlling things and it’s not about to let the USA tell it what pollution controls it will put in place.

If you think you’ll ever get the REAL story out of the mainstream media about what China’s role is in global climate issues, forget about it – they don’t even know the REAL situation in REAL China now. We must depend upon other sources who have BEEN THERE and who do not have a political ax to grind.

The greenhouse gas emissions treaty is just a way for an inroad into “SOME” legal entity controlling energy use – HELLO HELLO HELLO is anybody paying attention??????????????

Do you want ONE WORLD POWER anywhere anybody anytime TELLING YOU WANT TO DRIVE, EAT, DRINK, WASH, LISTEN TO, WATCH, TEXT, CALL, TYPE, BUY or WEAR? And if you don’t do what “THEY” tell you to do, you are fined? Energy is somehow connected to almost everything.

The one world power will be whomever controls the finances. Jeez, I wonder who that is? Did anyone say “bond bubble”?

    • Brandon

    • Jay thomas

You are kidding yourself if you think China is going to work with the U.S. to reduce global emissions, which most people know to be a hoax. In case you have not figured it out yet, it’s not about a clean planet that libs want, it’s about having power over the American tax payer. The only thing this President has done is to put America (home of the free) in a weaker position than when he started. This kind of nieveness is similiar to the Obama administrations forign policy concerning North Korea. As if we need another resolution that will be disshonored in the name of stalling for nukes.

What this will amount to, is the United States putting a crap load of money into some stupid fund, that the UN will control, and disperse to the terrorist nations it is made up of, to purchase weapons to use against us one day, with us paying for it. How damn stupid can we be? Dump the United Nations now.

G.W. Are you living in this world? The United States of Amerika has fallen by the wayside as the elitists have intended. We are being glutted with many of the undesirables from other countries, as intended by the elitists, and our economy is slowly reaching the decay of complete destruction. The book, Animal Farm, was a warning that very few persons paid heed to since the government schools and the totally, controlled, media have dumbed-down the masses-r-asses to the extent that they now believe that government is their salvation. Both intensive and extensive research throught the 1980′s and 1990′s proved to me that the socialist, humanist and collectivist philosophies that already have destroyed most, if not all of Europe, have infiltrated into this once great Republic and now we are a faltering demokracy. Go to the library and research the history of this nation. It is all written for anyone to see. The elitists have not bothered to hide anything because they know just how much the society has been dumbed-down. Wake up, get your head out of the sand and start to realize that the only way for people to be free and have liberty is by adherence to obligation and responsibility!

        Well said my Friend

Well said Loud&Clear, and David Hall unfortunately no matter how loud and clear it is said or shouted from the rooftops the 95% of the sheeple who make up the western world, are to stupid to listen to
any thing that is the truth and prefer the mindless dribble they get
on the “news”. You bet the “yellow peril” is real, except there
is no need to drop any boms any more our North American “outsourcing”
has seen to that over the last 2 decades.
All China will do at the appropriate time (soon, real soon)is to “call”their loans and were FINISHED.
Don’t believe it ?… If youre alive in
the next 5 years you will have the pleasure of seeing it upclose.
If you think that this “just” happened by accident, think again, as
stated by others before, the rockerfeller/new world order/UN/globalist
democracy/FED/zionist financial clique/greedy lilyliver politians and
others have planned and executed the plan that got us to where we are
today. Most of the sheeple will begin to realize and wake up to these
sad facts only too late. They will then realize how they have been
misled and lied to by our benevolent “government” It will of course be too late and they can then explain to their children how stupid
they were to permit (yes permit, since it was in their hands to stop it but they were asleep at the switch.) yet did nothing about it.
        Good luck to US.
