Mike Huckabee Discusses Options For 2012 Elections

Mike Huckabee discusses options for 2012 elections Former Arkansas governor and Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee suggested last week that he was unsure whether he would run again, but left the final decision open.

Hucakabee, who came in second in the Republican presidential primaries in 2008, appeared on Sunday talk shows on Fox News and CBS, and said that he was not sure about his potential 2012 bid. However, he also stated that his ultimate decision will depend on the results of next year’s midterm elections as well as the GOP itself, according to CNN.

The preacher-turned-politician, who is also hosting a weekend talk show on Fox News Channel, was quoted by the news provider as saying that for him to run again he would have to receive stronger backing from the Republican Party, which considered him to be outside the mainstream during his 2008 campaign.

Huckabee also expressed his belief that it will be hard to beat President Obama, regardless of who wins the nomination. "Anyone who thinks Barack Obama is an easy mark off, just remember Bill Clinton was just labeled politically dead and came back to win a resounding re-election in 1996," he said, quoted by TheHill.com.

According to a new USA Today/Gallup poll, a total of 50 percent of respondents believe the former Arkansas governor is qualified to be president and 40 percent support his candidacy. This puts him ahead of both Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin.

    The bottom line is we have separation of church and state in this country. Thank God, the founding fathers had the wisdom to realize how corrupt and controlling religous beliefs can become.
    We have enough real problems to be addressed, without the need for religious bickering and intolerence. America has churches, temples and whatever on every street corner.

    Judging from all I have read – not that what we read is accurate anymore – I don’t think Huckabee did anything wrong based on the info we have been given. Other judges, you bet, in some instances -

    To: EYESWIDEOPEN, how do you know Huckabee is a true follower of Yeshua-Jesus? There are many “so called ‘Chritians’”, some even “pastors” who are not true followers of The Way at all, perhaps you’re one of them!

    Huckabee should be held responsible for the killers deeds, which means, he goes to jail and does the rest of the sentence. Sounds like Huckabee would serve the people better if he was behind bars (wasn’t he the one who wenr AWOL to go see his girlfriend?). I’m sick to death of these sleezbucket, spineless politicians, WHO NEEDS THEM?

      Annie, it is so nice to see that you who profess to be a “true Christian, doesn’t believe in redemption, while Huckabee, actually practices a teaching of Jesus. No he didn’t have an affair, just another example of a Christian not having the facts and condemning someone for something they didn’t do. How do you know that Huckabee isn’t a true follower of Yeshua-Jesus? You seem to be one of the radical Christians who without merit passes judgement on other Christians.Your attitude is why the Christian faith is losing members, the hyprocrisy is growing day by day. I pray for people like you everyday, but I don’t remember seeing anywhere in the Bible, Jesus stating which Christian Sect was the only true Christians. Maybe your group is not the Superior Christians who should be passing judgement on others. A little Bible reading would refresh the passages where Jesus states that we are not to pass judgement on our brothers.

    I always thought conservatives were law enforcement folks. Big Mike has the fastest pen in the country when it comes to commuting sentences or granting pardons – like a 1,000 during his term. I think we should hold our politians to the same laws the “get-away-driver” is held to when caught. If someone dies during the commission of the crime, life or the death penalty should apply to them (depending on the state). We need to stop letting the criminals get back on the streets.

        I don’t know of any democrat that could be my hero. I grew up in Arizona and think the world of Sen. Goldwater. Whether they’re Republican or Democrat, they should not be putting criminals back on the street. In this case, I think big Mike is now a criminal and deserves some jail time, not another run for the presidency.

His wife started the first Planned Parenthood organization in the US. Too bad your hero doesn’t live up to todays standards that the Conservatives have. He sounds more like a liberal when it comes to personal freedoms doesn’t he?

        Wow! Sorry, little dude. I have studied the science of evolution. I used to be an evo-dude too. After going to a few evolution vs. creation debates in Germany and the U.S. I switched. The evidence is not there. I’ve looked everywhere for it…I still do.
        P.S.- I am still figuring out what to do with how I was raised on evolution. Half of my friends are scientist.

        God tells us that on the same day He made all animals that walk on the earth (the sixth day), He created man separately in His own image with the intent that man would have dominion over every other living thing on Earth (Genesis 1:26-28). From this it is clear that there is no animal that is man’s equal, and certainly none his ancestor.
        But man is surely a mammal. Man also shares genes and blood type similarities with apes espicially chimps. Is that not a strange coincidence?
        The National Science Foundation’s “Tree of Life” project estimates that there could be anywhere from 5 million to 100 million species on the planet, but science has only identified about 2 million. Interesting how Noah stuffed 2 of each speicies (evolution not allowed) onto his ark, and dropped them off after he landed. Incidently, that would have to include extinct species like dinosaurs and mammouths. Some ark. Some logistics.

    I would vote for Mike Huckabee for President.The attacks on Huckabee and Palin tell me, they are a real threat to the liberals as they represent the values of “we the people”. We need to stand with them.
    Expect the liberal media to go nuts trying to disqualify them. God bless Gov. Huckabee and Palin. They are true Americans.

      Before last month I might have agreed with you. After the news came out that he commuted the sentence of the cop killer to life with the possibility of parole and the parole board released him I don’t think he has a chance other than to divide the vote to the point that O-man gets the nod again!!! That’s the problem with this Tea party vote. I fear it will only divide the vote and let O-man back in by default!!!

        He did not release the criminal, the parole board made that decision. Before you convict someone, maybe you should review who made the final decision to release.     Mike Huckabee is a good man and a wise leader. However, He may be too good for America. We may have slid so low that we as a people now no longer want a good and wise man to lead us. If we were to elect Huckabee, not only would he inspire us to improve our economy, defend our country and expand our freedoms, but God would reward our efforts to follow a godly leader and He would pour out great blessings upon us. Unfortunately, the USA may not be worthy of a good and wise leader like Mike Huckabee.

    A Huckabee nomination would be the final nail in the GOP coffin. But even worse, since Harry Browne is no longer around to keep the LP focused, they have imploded, along with Ron Paul, which means that conservatives would have no place to go… politically, that is. Actually, they would have some place to go – but physically – not politically. They might start packing their bags, in preparation for moving to a country that is run by neither socialists nor theocrats. There are not that many places like that remaining. But, according to the latest freedom indexes that I have seen, the USA is no longer even in the top 10, so that means that there are at least 10 other places where conservatives might go, for shelter, if Huckabee were to get the nomination and the GOP implodes, too. Huckabee would lose the fiscal conservatives and small government conservatives, as well as many of the Independents (FYI, since the GOP has left conservatives and the LP has fizzled into the Blame America First Party, I now consider myself to be one of those Independents). If the GOP nominates a true small-government conservative, who will hit the Obamanation on EVERY issue, then I will come back to the GOP. But, the very last thing that the GOP needs right now, is a preacher on the ticket. It would seal their fate.

      Don’t know what you’re talking about when you say Libertarians Blame America First.
      If you mean about our economic predicament, it is indeed our fault. We have apathetically let our government grow completely out of control. At what point does it become obvious to the citizens that Big Government is the problem, not the solution?
      Government can’t stop drug use. It can’t create a good economy. And it certainly isn’t going to convert Afghanistan or Iraq into peaceful countries. They are just throwing our money away and making us vulnerable to all sorts of danger as a result of that impoverishment.
      The way I see it, the Libertarians are our only real solution. Get us back to Constitutionally Limited Government, and personal freedom, and individual responsibility. Like it used to be.

      I guess you missed the poll today that says that O-man is at 47% approval the lowest since records have been kept. Even Truman was at 49% at this point in his term. Bush JR was at 86%, Even Cahtah was higher!!!

      John you can relax. Your comment that the US isn’t even in the top ten of the “freedom index” is factually incorrect, a mistake, just plain wrong. The Heritage.org “Economic Opportunity and Prosperity Index” ranks the US in sixth, behind Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, Ireland and New Zealand. The final four countries are Canada, Denmark, Switzerland and the UK. Facts! Why are they so hard to find in the discussions here?

        Curtis, because most of them have high tax rates like Ireland with 42%, but most also make their corporations pay taxes, don’t have loop holes which allows them to not pay at all. Americans have a thing about paying taxes. Maybe because the rich pay less by hiding their money in off shore accounts and the rest of us resent that we have to pay for the infrastructure which all of us enjoy using.

      Just saw Huckabee on Jon Stewart, he explained his involvement in the “cop killer case”. I was impressed with his explanation and how he feels about the situation. I’m satisfied with his response and I maintain my respect for this man (except that he appears on Faux News). Here’s a couple of questions for you. Do you know the name of the killer? Do you know how an Arkansas governor has anything to do with a Washington state murderer? Do you know how much time has elapsed between Huckabee’s involvement and the murders of four policemen? If you don’t know these facts you should before you comment on this case. Or watch the interview on the Jon Stewart website.

    As Norm said, Huckabee is a nice guy. But just what we don’t need in Washington DC is another people-pleaser. We need politicians that can stand up to the tough, entrenched Big-Government-loving incumbents that occupy the Federal Government currently. We need somebody like Ron Paul (who I think is too old now, but I love him). We need Libertarians. The only way we can get this country revitalized is to dramatically reduce the size of government intrusion into our lives.

    The biased media are already attacking this man to ensure he doesn’t run in 2012. If you look at the facts about his pardoning the person who kill four cops, he pardoned this person based on an excessive jail term for a non-violent criminal offense when the person was a teenager. The only thing the media hasn’t said up to now is that the former governor actually pulled the trigger and blamed it on the other guy. This is why most able, decent people will not get involved in politics. It is venomous to oneself and their families and friends. 2010 is just around the corner. That’s our opportunity for real change. Get rid of all the bums in Washington, State and Local governments. And confiscate their unearned wealth they all accumulated on the backs of the average American taxpayers.

    Mike is a nice guy but a preacher has no chance of being elected president in the US. He may fly well in the bible belt states, but will garner little support in the northeast and on the west coast. Government is reality, not blind faith. If you want religious rule, go to Iran.
    I do agree with his assesment that Obama will be hard to beat. When the economy improves, with or without government help, the war subsides, and people realize that healthcare reform was really necessary, Obama will look like a star.
