FAIR Exposes Tactics Of Anti-immigration Reform Advocates

The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) has released a report detailing what it calls "the unscrupulous methods" used by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) to discredit organizations advocating enforcement of U.S. immigration laws.
The report, entitled Guide to Understanding the Tactics of the Southern Poverty Law Center in the Immigration Debate, also examines the SPLC’s financial motives that it says fuel its increasing attacks.
"The SPLC is an opportunistic outfit, seeking to raise money by smearing mainstream groups and moderate Americans who simply want order restored to our nation’s dysfunctional immigration system," says Dan Stein, president of FAIR.
He also adds that SPLC has "no record of offering constructive solutions to our immigration problems."
FAIR was founded in 1979 and is the country’s largest immigration reform group. Its goal is to promote the idea that immigration reform must enhance national security, improve the economy, protect jobs, preserve the environment, and establish a rule of law that is enforced.
The organization says it hopes the new publication will encourage journalists, legislators, students and others researchers of immigration issues to judge independently, and stated that it "proudly stands by its 30-year record of advocating for reforms to our immigration policy that are supported by the majority of the American people."
