Very well said. I dont own a gun, and until I need one I probably wont, but I fully support anyones right to have, hold, and carry a firearm. When it comes to where its against the law to have a gun, everyone knows that only the criminals will have them. Everywhere where they have practiced this sort of gun control, crime has escalated out of control. I believe if Im not mistaken, Austrailia went into the foray of making having guns illegal, and when they did crime ran rampant and went up like 600 percent. If they ever illegalized guns in the United States, crime would rise 1000 percent, as the criminals would be licking their chops, because 90 percent of them own their guns illegally anyhow. The solution, is to have much much stricter penalties for those using a hand gun in the commission of a crime, or for possessing a hand gun illegally. Problem is, the law enforcement has made it a money game like everything else, and when they catch these common ass criminals with guns, and the guy doesnt have a house, doesnt have a job, they slap him on the hand and release him because theyve got nothing to get from him. Now if you or I or any working man with a job, a house, and a family commited a crime with a gun, the system would stick it to us and get all they could from us. But a low life criminal with no money, no job, no house, they walk time and time again. That is the problem, not people legally carrying a weapon. I wish someone would have had a gun at Virginia Tech or Columbine High School. Perhaps many lives would have been saved.
