In speech to Congress Obama touts 'cost saving' public option

September 14, 2009 by

In speech to Congress Obama touts 'cost saving' public option In an eagerly awaited speech delivered before Congress on Wednesday, President Obama failed to rule out a government-run health insurance option as part of healthcare reform.

With the public growing increasingly skeptical about his plans to overhaul the ailing healthcare system, the President appeared in front of lawmakers to restate his case and reconfirm his administration’s commitment to ensuring that Americans will no longer have to fear bankruptcy caused by medical bills.

Stressing the U.S. is the only wealthy democracy that "allows such hardships for millions of its people," Obama sought to convince his listeners that his proposals would reduce costs, expand coverage, improve care and regulate the insurance market so that sick people are no longer denied coverage.

At the same time, he pledged he will not sign any bill that would increase the deficit, saying his proposal would cost $900 billion over 10 years.

Obama further warned special interests that he will not tolerate "the same old tactics," designed to block the reform.

"If you misrepresent what’s in the plan, we will call you out," he stressed, adding, "I will not accept the status quo as a solution. Not this time. Not now."

The Republican response to the speech came from Representative Charles Boustany of Louisiana who criticized Obama for pushing an expansive package that fails to benefit families and small businesses. He also expressed his party’s disappointment with the President’s unwillingness to drop the public option idea, according to Politico.com.

REPUBLICANS ARE AGAINST HAVING NO MORE PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS.
REPUBLICANS CAN’T WAIT TO GO BAKRUPT TO PAY THEIR HOSPITAL BILLS.
REPUBLICANS BELIEVE FOX NEWS AND DON’T UNDERSTAND THAT THE INSURANCE
COMPANY’S ARE THE ONES WHO STARTED THE BOGUS TOWN HALL MEETING OUTBURSTS IN THE FIRST PLACE(im talkin bout the very first time they did this right before all the brainwashed fox news sheep followed). REPUBLICANS CALL OBAMA SATAN AND THEY THINK GEORGE BUSH WAS THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST! DICK CHENEY KEPT US SAFE BY TORTURING. WHEN BUSH GAVE THE SURPLUS THAT CLINTON LEFT HIM TO THE TOP 1% OF PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY- BACK MOUNTAIN KENTUCKY POOR PEOPLE WERE SO HAPPY BECAUSE THEY ARE REPUBLICAN.

    • JeffH

Billy, can you hear the voices calling…billy..biiillly…biiiillllly, they are starting to fade, you are getting tired….damn, time for my medicine!!!!!!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Hey Jeff, what do you supposed happened to that boy? Suppose he took too many head shots?

      • John

Wow, lots of anger there. I should be so pissed with what’s happening too this country. Maybe I am, but exercise some control and state a lucid argument.

      • billy

john the damge has already been done- no offense but that is what u fail to realize: the damage has already been done. obama and the democrats and 2 maybe even 3 republicans are now in the process of trying to fix things. the damage has already been done.

      • billy

i watched one of these videos on here and a woman in a crowd of republicans(working class republicans -not the top 1% of this country who all are republican, ) stood up and asked the republican senator a question- basically, why won’t you go forward with the rest of the senate in trying to pass the health bill-
he said because if it passes things are going to get worse. and this is what u supporters of him think too. except he knows things could not get any worse, he’s in the pocket of the health insurance companys and he’s their puppet.

      • Smilee

He’s really getting to isn’t he

    • chuck b

      billy:
you should watch your language, i wasn’t referring to any particular type of person, king cong is a fictitious gorilla, what made you think i was referring to anything else?.

      • JeffH

Chuck b.. it is only that billy is colorblind and can only see things in black and white. When an arguement isn’t strong, pull the race card out. Like getting the “Pass Go” card in Monopoly.

      • eyeswideopen

Chuck maybe all those monkey signs in your parade on Sat, had an influence on his brain….. I think there were only about a couple of thousand of those.

      • JeffH

eyes…were you in attendance because you have seen much more than the rest of us…or is it your choice to promote racial division on this site.

      • eyeswideopen

Jeff, We have regular cable in one room and a satalite with 600 channels in the other, We don’t take vacations, just stay at home and get everything you possibly can to keep my sports junkie husband and nephew happy. I taped the BBC, World news tonite, a French tv station, Fox, Msnbc, Cnn, cbs and nbc and Cspan I wanted to have a non-biased reporting, as I’m damn tired of being lied too. Believe me or not, I don’t care, I only gave you the info but your common sense will tell you the truth.

      • eyeswideopen

Oh, and Jeff, I wouldn’t need to promote racial divison on this site, you people do a damn fine job of that all by yourselves. My only goal is to give facts to those who just mouth off with fictional crap. If you go back and read some of the sites, when I give some facts, that they can’t argue with, there is no response. You were the only one to respond to a no lying law, why do you think that is? Dave, couldn’t come up with any retort to the earmarks by repubs’ so he changed the subject. You would notice that when people have no where to go, they just don’t respond or only respond with name calling.

      • JeffH

I am lmited to cable and the internet. I continualy watch the big 3 on cable, CNN, FOX, and MSNBC. I do see the biased reporting by all 3, but CNN and especialy MSNBC are as much or more biased towards the DEMOCRATS. FOX is on the right, without a doubt, but they also support the American people, and the others are more concerned about promoting the Democrat and the presidents agenda that they have become blind to the what is important and real to the American people.

      • billy

“gorilla” there you go again; don’t you have a cross to burn somewhere?

    • Independentthinker

Billy is a liberal plant. Regurgitating the same old speech by the left wing propaganda machine. Just ignore him, he only here to stir up trouble, just like the hired thugs at the town hall meetings. The liberal just can’t believe that millions of people are against their radical behavior, so that retreat into denial, trying, once again, to make everyone believe that we don’t exist. God luck with that one Axelrod.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Hey Billy, whats bakrupt? Did you mean Bankrupt? Illiteracy, it strikes many democrats.

      • eyeswideopen

Beberoni, here on this site, we DON’T critize people when they make a spelling error, grammer error, or punctation error. We are not about belittling someone on a personal basis. Your smart remarks inferring that Billy was illiterate is uncalled for, unless you want each of us to attack you, when you make a typo, you need to back off. Maybe you are perfect, we’ll see. Does it make you feel good to attack someone like that? Debating is fine, personal attacks just show how small you are.

      • Smilee

I think we all have done it from time to time but of course these conservatives have to manufacture reasons to criticize liberals to express their hatred for them, any excuse will do

      • JeffH

I’ll admit he isn’t the sharpest nail in the bag

  • Rod

Billy, Obama is not a citizen of the United States of America! He
was born in Kenya! His “certified” Birth certificate, His collage
records and his Pass Ports starting from 1988 to 2008 will prove it!

    • eyeswideopen

Rod, you are a foolish person, don’t you think that the powerful Republicans would have been able to prove that he wasn’t an American if they could have?? Millions of dollars were spend by the RNC trying to prove that point and they came up empty. I guess you are saying that your own party cannot prove what you are attempting to do.. Rod, give it a break, better people than you tried to prove this and failed, but maybe you would have better luck trying to get McCain passed as “Natural Citizen”.. ha ha…maybe you should check his birth in the Panama Canal and all of the problems which required a special session of Congress in April 2008 , to try and make him legitimate. It would take a Constitutional Amendent to truly make him eligible to be President. The Congress would have to address the dilema of a Natural Born citizen. Why don’t you go tackle that problem.

      • Independentthinker

FYI, A judge in California (whom is not in obama’s pocket) has set a court date and has required obama to product the proper documents to prove his citizenship. By the way it was the DNC spending millions of $$ to fight against obama producing these documents. The reason nothing has come of it was because of the bribes, intimidation and bulling from the white house upon judges to keep this out of court. This administration is going down, piece by piece, bit by bit. First ACORN. then the Czars, then the radical policies and finally the fraud of this man. American’s are standing up and speaking out against this destructive president.

      • eyeswideopen

Independent, tell me how they were able to bully the Bush White House prior to winning the election? How was that possible, are you telling me that us Republicans whimped out and just let him get elected when we had the power to stop him.. . Thanks so much for the insult. You don’t make any sense.

      • eyeswideopen

Well, Independent, the judges are speaking and you birthers are not happy. You wanted the judges to decide and they are, but just not in your favor. LOL.
You got your wish Acorn is down… now what and who are you going to blame for the Repub’s losing membership? Think it could be these crazy rantings coming out of our mouths?? Ya think??

    • billy

thank you for still being stuck on the”birth certificate” this is why republicans lose elections

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Not so quick there slick willy II. We lost in 2008 thats it. Real change is coming there slick willy II. 2010 and 2012. Hike up your skirt girlie man, its coming.

      • Smilee

Keep telling yourself that BS, we will add 2010 to your heap of big failures but I suppose that dream can keep up the hope for you, and in 2010 you will wake from this nightmare

    • Rich

      Rod,

Not to disagree with you but if he has dual citizenship in the US and in Kenya then he is a US citizen. I honestly am personally past this as he provided a legible copy, even though it was short form, of an Hawaiian birth certificate. I was on board this with the first birth certificate as it was illegible, just as I questioned McCains as he was born in Panama. I say personally question all presidential candidate legitimacy to run for office and don’t let anyone pass by without proof of citizenship.

    • JeffH

Rod, the birth certificate is not an issue. What is an issue is his plan to destroy America.

    • billy

its a damn shame dare rod dat dey let dat dam king kong who waznt even burn in dis good ole usa uv ourz be da president- lets get cheney after em maybe waterboard em into tellin da truth yeeee-haa

  • Rod

The destruction of our country will NOT be allowed!

    • billy

then why didn’t you do anything to stop bush!! our present situation is a result of the bush regime.

      • JeffH

Another Bush, Bush, Bush man. When will they realize Bush did not do all this damage in 8 years. When government became corrupt, this country really started on a downhill spiral. Corruption is blind and does not discriminate between Republicans amd Democrats.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Why was Bush so bad that he had employment in this country at an all time high? Why was Bush so bad that he had un-employment at an all time low? Why was Bush so bad that he had the stock market at an all time high? Why was Bush so bad that he freed millions of people? I mean, why was he so bad?

      • eyeswideopen

Berb, The word is GREED. How do you think Cheney went into office with a net worth of 22million and came out with 98.8 million? Bush just wanted to help all those Repub’s who were in CEO positions on Wall Street and the private companies. You can’t really fault him for that, but the people that ended up paying for that bias was middle class America. When Bush gave his buddies 1.88 trillion dollars of tax cuts, who do you think had to fund these wars? Not really to bright to cut taxes and then start two wars. I didn’t get a tax break did you?

      • eyeswideopen

Beber, freed millions? Surely you aren’t talking about the country we declared war on? Did you ever hear them ask us to come over, desimate their country, kill their citizens by the thousands, ruin their infrstructure? Did you really hear millions of people asking for us to do that?? Where is your brain?

      • billy

To berberoni:(the one who wants glen beck to be president)

i can picture you running around in your backyard with your cousin who you married during the time of the bush regime. there you were with your cousin hubby down dare in yer good ol kentucky house sittin back in dem woods jumping around an apple tree, your husband cousin who u married said hey this reminds me of the garden of eden- dont go eatin dat apple now honey or we will not hav paradise- but cousin hubby honey of mine i can eat the apple we are already in paradise !just look ay our great leader, the great dubya – and hubby cuz sais oh i know he is great i think he is good becuz dair aint gonna be non more uv dose abortions- and you then say to hubby yea and der aint gonna be no more uv doze democratz cummin and takin our guns, and yur hubby cuz responds yea and were gonna go and get doze damn Irack-eez and kill dem sons a bitches. then you say to your cousin who you married yea and heez gunna cut our taxes so we cun go and get more lawn ornaments from da wal mart- right about that time an apple falls from thje tree and hits you in your very small head and your cousin who you married takes you to the emergency room where u wait for twelve hours to get sttches, and den you come home and sleep with your cousin who you married and when you wake up the next day you are in the usa and go america and then you fo to church or something i dont even know how to respond to you- ok its over-;)

      • eyeswideopen

Jeff, who did the damage? Who was in control? Are you trying to say that Obama had control of the house and senate in 1995 thru 2006? The record shows it was the Republicans and 6 of those years Bush was Pres. What part of that don’t you like?

      • JeffH

Blind hatred is most all I read from you eyes. You are so stuck on 8 years and Bush that someone could assault you and they would look like “The Bush Gang” to you. You could use some serious counseling.

      • Smilee

        Jeff

You are right it started with Reagan not Bush but he sure put the pedal to the metal during those eight years but it has been getting worse ever since Reagan, until Obama came along and he is now starting to repair all that damage, what is sad you guys are criticizing him for doing what it takes and that he has not been able to do it in 9 months, fact is it will take a few years and some very harsh medicine to get it healthy but I guess you guys have to blame someone, because some of you don not know why, some lack the ability to figure out the truth and yes some hate him just because he is black amongst many other stupid reasons

  • Rod

It’s GREAT people I have talked to many Dems. that now know they
voted for the wrong guy. They say, if they had known what Obama
meant by “change” they would not have voted for him!

2010 is comming up we can change Congress and neutralize Obama.

    • billy

“2010 is comming up we can change Congress and neutralize Obama”

what you fail to realize is the republican party is a dying religion in this country

      • JeffH

continue on with that thought…get comfortable with it!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Earth to Billy. Your dead wrong. Wake up now and take your Prozac.

  • Rod

Obama is the one who is misrepresenting what is in the “so called health care plan”

  • billy

The President of the United States of America

    President Barack Hussein Obama

I’m proud to be an American; Thank God for this President!

    • Rod

Don’t thank God Billy, He has NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS GUY! You might
      however, want to thank Satan!

      • eyeswideopen

Rod, you are the reason people are leaving this party. If someone disagrees with you, not only are they wrong, but their representative must be Satan!!! It truly is laughable…. you sound like a narrow minded zealot.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Again eyes, sorry, people are not leaving the Republican party. We are actually going through a reformation, getting back to our conservative roots. If youll just wait, you will see in 2010 and again in 2012. But you are mistaken. No one is leaving.

      • John

And I’ve been called prejudice because I don’t agree with the President’s agenda too. Go figure talk about hypocrites.
Oh and I just joined the Republican Party 3 months ago. After being a dem for close to 40 years. I didn’t vote for Bush and I didn’t vote for Obama. I didn’t vote for him, let me say this again, not because I’m prejudice but because of this President’s history, lack thereof and his previous political associations!!!!
Now were paying the price and it’s only the beginning.

      • eyeswideopen

        Beber. LOL.

      • Smilee

And once you succeed your numbers will be so small you will be not be able to win much of anything

      • Smilee

WE know he is, what other logical conclusions can you draw from all his posts

      • billy

eyes, berber says they’re going through a reformation- lol

      • eyeswideopen

Billy, I know that Berb, doesn’t understand that the polls have concluded that 21% of the Republican party does not admit to being Republican. That is quite a reformation. But, that doesn’t make me happy as I am one of members of the Repub pary.

      • billy

i know you are but they try to shut you out because you dont have any catch phrases; its sort of like you can be compared to colin powell(i kno thats spelled wrong) wow what if he were president during those bush years, we would hav a surplus now- lots of democrats would hav voted for him- the same way lots of repubs voted for obama-powell was one of the few good ones and look what they did with him- they turned him on to obama. and kept rush. the shameful right. its too bad.

      • JeffH

Rob, I didn’t realize you were so influential.

      • JeffH

        I mean Rod!

      • Smilee

        He’s not really

  • billy

“If you misrepresent what’s in the plan, we will call you out,” he stressed, adding, “I will not accept the status quo as a solution. Not this time. Not now.”

    GO OBAMA! YEA!

    • Rod

Billy, your lost and gone forever!

      • Smilee

Rod, I’m betting this guy is just getting started and also betting he will see what he likes in the end

  • billy

What a great speech: “NO MORE PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS”

Finally a president who is FOR THE PEOPLE.

  • Rod

Yes John you are right! They want our freedom and they want our
lives , but the people have heard the crap being put out by Obama.
No one believes him anymore. The “public option” will drive out all
the compitition and they will tell you when, where and IF you get
any health care when you need it.

  • billy

The President of the United States of America

    President Barack Hussein Obama

I’m proud to be an American; Thank God for this President!

    • Rod

Cheez Billy!! I don’t even feel sorry for you!!

      • John

        Rod
        He’s not serious is he???

      • Smilee

Not only is he serious but do not be to sad about the fact he in right as you and yours are unable to do anything about it at the ballot box so long as you remain such a small minority

    • chuck b

      billy:
Do you really think god would do that to our country or was it a racial thing. i think most libs would vote for king cong if he ran on a democratic ticket and the others voted for the promise of something for nothing. they will get something for nothing, thats nothing!

      • billy

” king cong” right about now all the repukes are laughing because when chuck says king kong he really means niggerr

      • JeffH

You are out of line with that comment! Chuck might have chosen another example but it wasn’t intended as a racist remark. read it over and don’t take it out of context!

      • eyeswideopen

Jeff, how do you know how it was intended? Why should you get upset, you call the Pres. a commie, socialist loving dictator, who is trying to sink this country. We are kinda used to the rt-wingers calling him a monkey, ape, nazi, hilter, hell they had signs in your march showing him as a monkey. funny you getting so indigent.

      • JeffH

eyeswideopen…look in the mirror and tell me what you see. By the way, I am not a racist.

      • Smilee

If she looks in the mirror I’m betting she will be seeing something much more beautiful and no doubt you can not match that when you look in the mirror

      • billy

I AM NOT OUT OF LINE and the reason is your repub leaders have called this man every single name except for the n word. all im sayin is be a man and stand up for your hatred. you don’t condemn sarah palin when she calls him a terrorist- a fu**ing terrorist!!! think of how offensive this is to those 911 families. democrat or republican. terrorist. terrorist?? to call the president of the united states a terrorist- you repubs have gone down a very ugly path and you know it! the only thing left to really say about the man is he’s a niggerr

      • JeffH

That is your opinion! You said it so you must think it.
I, like many more, just don’t like the mans politics, has nothimg to do with the color of his skin.

      • JeffH

Oh, smilee, that ain’t gonna happen ’cause I ain’t a republican.

    • eyeswideopen

Billy, You are allowed to be Proud, “they” were once Proud of their President Bush prior to his hijacking our freedoms and passing the largest bill in history (Medicare Advantage 2003), they had every right to be proud. You will be attacked as the losing party has no respect for any ideas except their own. Hang in there.

      • JeffH

        Again, winners and losers, sigh!

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Ok Billy, it didnt come across clear. Sarcasm, or serious?

      • billy

beberoni how do you expect anyone to have serious dialogue with you when you wrote in one of your posts how you get all of your information from glen beck and how you wish glen beck would run for president-

  • Rod

I keep seeing people who would have us believe that they have some
intellegence. Big words from small brains. The lefties just don’t
get it! These are the same people that you will hear SCREAMING
above all the rest of us if the lefties have there way. The real
Americans will not let Obama, Palosi and the rest of his GOONS
destroy our country!!!! Their health care package has Socialist
written all over it! You have never seen Tyranny like what these
lefties have in mind for you!!

    • eyeswideopen

Rod, yes it is a Socialist program, which the Republicans do not want to repeal, so sit down and shut up. Unless you are willing to work for killing the entire program, you don’t have a leg to stand on.

    • JeffH

      YUP!

    • Smilee

You were unable to stop them from getting elected, so lets face the truth, what you call real Americans totally failed and stuck out at the voting both and if you do not quit fighting amongst yourselves you will keep on losing and our screaming will be that of one large victory scream.

  • ONTIME

These incumbents, mostly Dem libs but interspersed with Repub RINO’s, must think the American public is made up of a majority of fools and this uncredentialed, marketed shill we are supposed to call POTUS, keeps saying the same old tired teleprompter lines with a bit of a twist, no real facts, no specifics and weak on any sustance. When asked about specifics written or left out of this congressional plan, there is a lot of name calling for any opposition or pointing out of inequities or more blatant is the fact that these unreliable clowns are not about to give up their own gold plated benefits that they seem to be able to vote for themselves without your input.

There is none of them yet that will appoint any outside committee to investigate, fraud, abuse of office, perjury, collusion, complicity, lack of oversight in the handling of absconded tax funds. We have a AG who will not recuse himself when dealing with security isues involving terrorist, goes behind the backs of the public to institute unconstitutional law, avoids the evidence concerning illegals and fails to prosecute outright acts of voter infringement at the polls, the phantom POTUS says little or nothing because shills do as their instructed. Remember, your showing up in Washington in massive number to voice your displeasure in a civil legal way, is of no consequence and only indicates your racist thinking. Ask the MSM and they will tell you this last statement is what they think of you and your right to dissent.

    • eyeswideopen

Ontime, if the President had written the bill, you would then be crying that he is taking over the Congress’ job. It doesn’t matter what he does, you will not be happy as you are in the party that lost. Get over it, suck it up, the majority rules in this country, and we had our shot from 1995 to 2006. Too bad for us that we didn’t attempt to fix this when we had the power.. those that snooz lose!!

      • JeffH

So stuck on the win/loss thing…sigh!

      • eyeswideopen

Jeff, you people are stuck on trying to bring down a President who has been in office for 9mths. but the attempt started at 6mths. The Republicans blatantly stated if they could stop healthcare it would bring him down? I don’t understand why any of you want this country to fail. I didn’t like a damn thing that Bush did after I voted him into office but I sure as hell didn’t mount an offense to take him down and weaken this country even more.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Sorry eyes, the dude and his boys have brought themselves down, it has nothing to do with the American people. His actions have doomed him. However, we will have something to say about it soon, both in 2010 and 2012.

      • JeffH

Never said I did not want Obama to fail! I do not believe Obama has Americas best interest at heart. He has surrounded himself and is supported by a group of anti-amercans. I believe our constitutional rights are going to be attacked by Obama and his supporters. I do not support his agenda nor his HRC. The citizens of this great nation are seeing through his banter and his inability to speak a sentance with real substance. Up to this point, he has been a con man to the highest degree.

      • eyeswideopen

Jeff, don’t make list all the anit Americans who surrounded Bush. Jack Abramhoff, Tom Delay, Scooter Libby, Dick Armey, Dick Cheney, and the list goes on and on.. for God’s sake Jeff, the last admin probably have more criminals than any other admin, other than Nixon’s. You people keep throwing stones, when we are just emerging from a dictatorship that could have taken this country down to a level that would have been similar to the great depression. Fact, man, deal with the facts. Just because you don’t like them doesn’t mean they aren’t true.

      • JeffH

OK, I can agree that they are all bad. That doesn’t change the here and now facts on Obamas choices, does it.

    • Smilee

For Governement to take over health care my final opinion is this. They took over the Mustang Ranch in 1990 whitch sold Whiskey and Sex. They ran that into the ground and it ended up having to be closed. Now if they can’t manage an industry that sells money and sex how can we think they can manage something that is so important as health care. Also why hasn’t the Insurance industry fixed the problem in the first place. In the past thirty years we and they have all known that this is something that needed to be fixed. Now that it has gotten out of control and is looking like the only way to fix it is to have congress get involved with it why complain now. They should have been working on this. In my opinion someone is going to make a lot of money out of any outcome from this. Why else would they be throwing hundreds of millions of dollars at a couple of hundred men in office to sway their vote.
My thoughts are they will empose a strick basic policy that all insurance companies will have to have. then sell suplimental policies to cover the extras like elective surgery or extended care etc.
Then give out a basic policy to everyone else.
Right now one out of three that enter an emergency room is not covered. ( they go there because if they can’t pay cash they won’t be seen at a clinic and even if you have a condition unless it is life threatoning they won’t give you treatment at an emergency room so they still aren’t any better off. we have the best health care that money can buy. )

  • Ken

you said the answer in the very first sentance to this forum. No Discrimination. It is in my opinion not the poor that are hurtig. Let me explain my thoughts. Indigents have a government means to fall back on where the problem arises is with the working poor. All they are asking is accessability. right now Insurance companies can discriminate all they want. If you had two white kids a jewish kid and a black kid all walk into a store to buy a candy bar the first two pay fifty cents the third the jewish boy has to pay three dollars and the black child is asked to leave because of his race. You would have every single agency after them. Yet Insurance companies do it all the time. My thoughts are this. They need to have a not discrimination law in place then put price guidlines so that those with medical problems won’t be singled out then put torte reform on. So if the insurance industry wants a torte reform at 1980 wage levels then they must role back their prices to the 1980 wage levels. for medications put a time limit on patented medications then send them to be produced genericaly. The last thing is for those that are beneith the poverty guidlines and can’t afford give an open house to the already formed Tri Care insurance. give this to the elderly and the poor as the government paid program. All sources will tell you that there isn’t that many that would need to be enroled in such a plan. Now to fix Medicare and Social Security. Everyone will tell you that a good share of the problems have arised just because our own Congress can’t keep their hands out of the cash box. So put all Government retirement funds to be distributed through the same office or cash box. You will find they will not only fix it fast but make it sovent in no time. You know it is one thing to take from the people but when they are taking from themselves it is another story

    • eyeswideopen

Ken, I appreciate that you are at least thinking about a solution, other than trying to prevent people from having the benefits that the elderly, veterans, children, and Congressman enjoy.

    • JeffH

      Makes sense.

  • BABUSHSKA

Let’s get back to other issues. Where is the TV coverage by ABC, NBC and CBS on the march in Washington on Saturday? We’re getting selective reporting by these networks who are choosing for Americans what they will report and not report. Where is our unbiased news journalism? We’re no longer a free country when our news is basically censored by the liberals! This bothers me greatly. How about the rest of you?

    • http://blackwellknives@hotmail.com Zane

Amen, I do not turn on the big three any longer.

      • Norm

That’s clever. I know a beach where you can bury your head or maybe your head is already buried somewhere else.

    • Robin from Indiana

I don’t watch the big 3 anymore either. As big as the Tea Party march was, they ignored it. It’s no wonder Fox News has the following they do. I believe they are more in tune with what is going on than all of the other stations combined.
The newspapers are going down, too. They choose to print and report on select issues and they are not fair and balanced. It wasn’t always this way….

      • Smilee

The big three all had a segment on it, oh yah right you did not watch them so you must have just assumed they had not or got told that from the conservative propaganda machine who also said they had 1.5 million and from the air pics is was only a small portion of what the inauguration had in January and they know that was over over a million but we know you have to try and win points you have tell lies and hope they stick cause the truth would expose your hypocrisy.

      • eyeswideopen

I saw it on CNN. it was a sea of white, elderly, Republicans, no young people or minorities. Just a sea of Medicare eligilble, whites carrying militant signs who don’t want anyone else to have the same medical options that they have, which I am paying for with all the subsidies to Big Phrma. So sorry that it was only 20-25k, maybe if it didn’t have an entrance fee more people could have attended. Actually all three networks did show the “grassroots”, LOL, march. You know
Rupert Murdoch should have financed the whole march, instead of charging for it. He really does have the money.

    • Norm

Where was Fox on Obama’s address? Hate radio and TV will give you all the BS you want. The Tea Party is as dumb as it gets to bigin with. If people have a point of view to express, why not do it like civilized humans. Load and dumb does not equal right.

      • JeffH

Norm, I can’t figure out whether your comments are coming from a civilized human or a puppet on a string.

      • Smilee

That shows how dumb you are. He was easy to follow

      • JeffH

Fox reports on the Tea Party are an important part of keeping the American public informed of the political climate in America. NO, not the weather either. To not report the overwhelming support the Tea party Express has recieved would be a diservice to America and Americans, and would distort the support, or lack of, that the HRC propasal has with the public. Let alone the dissention that is building in America towards government intrusion or attempted intrusion, including “The Patriot Act”. The general feeling is that we, the American people, are concerned that THIS administration will attack the core of The Constitution and The Bill Of Rights.
As anyone can see, the prez is surrounding himself with extreme radicals that don’t care for the American lifestyle and the Puppet Master behind this administration, George Soros and all of his money and influence. I certainly have no intention of sleeping with the devil and, I’m sure, neither does any other god fearing human being.

      • Smilee

FOX keeping us informed, they were created by radicals to brainwash their listeners, it does not work on all of us but apparently id did on you

      • eyeswideopen

Norm, Fox was airing a repeat of “So you think you can dance?” All those viewers were watching the “Fox Trot”. Heh Heh. I don’t know how all the Conservatives found out about Wilson, do you think they accidentally changed the channel? LOL

      • JeffH

Do not forget Dub and Dumberer!

    • JeffH

Why would the media report what they don’t support. Kinda like the “gun nuts” at the protests are dangerous and “a finger was bitten off by a protestor”. The “gun nuts” were exercising their freedom were Republican and Democrat. The finger biter was a supporter of the HCR. Fox reported accurately, did the rest of the media? I don’t think so!

      • eyeswideopen

Jeff, they did report it, I certainly wouldn’t have beeb on Fox, so you can probably ascertain that the real networks covered your little march.

      • JeffH

        little march for little people?

      • eyeswideopen

jeff, did you see my post about the oath of truth?? Let me know what you think. Hope you have time to edit it.

      • JeffH

Eyes, I am going to copy and print and take some time to think on it.
It will need some definitive language to cover half truths as well. No deceptions in speeches, etc.

      • eyeswideopen

Jeff, when we get to the point of getting a law passed it will need to be refined, but just for the petition, it need to be sweet and short…. people have small attention spans. But i would like you to somehow work into the message ” not to further political gains. The kid 20 something next door said we needed a catch phrase that would appeal to both/ all parties. Thanks for your help. I anxiously await with baited breath. LOL

      • Smilee

Ah come on Jeff can you be sure if some angry person put his finger in your mouth that you would not bite it off, and it was the one who lost his finger who admitted putting his finger in the guys mouth on a right wing talk show and thats say a whole hell of a lot about this man’s intelligence.

    • gail lightfoot
      • JeffH

        mainstream media?

      • Smilee

Not even fox carried all of it, but then it is hard to spin if you show it all and that is FOX’s expertise

      • JeffH

Duh! Fox has sponsors and other news and programs to report also. VanJones, Wilson, Acorn, and the Obama speech…and they did keep us up to date on the hugh turnout at the D.C. Teaparty protest. Would have to tune in to see it.

      • Smilee

Like I said before they sure got you brainwashed

    • John

Yes it bothers me greatly too! But our President is currently too preoccupied with his public option (power grab that is). He’ll get around to censoring the media the way he’d really like to and our 2nd amendment rights too. It’s all coming.

      • Smilee

Are you asking him to ignore the first amendment so you can have your way?

    • eyeswideopen

Babu, I watched it. It was a sea of elderly white Repubs. No young people, no minorities, (they probably couldn’t afford the entry fee) walking to prevent others from having the kind of healthcare that they enjoy.. Found it to be a little ironic. Was about 25,000 people, a far cry from the million they were expecting. H ll, Obama had 15,000 for his speech in Minneasota, and those people didn’t have to pay an entrance fee. If it would have truly represented the mix of Americans it would have been more impressive, but somehow just being a sea of white didn’t have much impact.

      • JeffH

Although no definative figures are available, It is still difficult to contemplate that there were 1.5 million to 2 million people in attendance, at least according to what was seen on Pennsylvania Ave. But evidence does lend itself to the idea that there were at some points, from hundreds of thousands to the slim possibility of a million in attendance.

Initial reports of the crowd size seem to be one of the larger debates raging between right wing social media and their leftist counterparts. There is no denying the outpouring of protesters was extremely large but it seems to have been played down by most MSM outlets as in the “tens of thousands.” With activists and right wing bloggers making the case for a much larger number of attendees.

      • JeffH

It is obvious that the prez doesn’t want a confrontation with these old farts of all ages, races and genders.

      • JeffH

Just a note, there were interviews with Tea Party goers of all races and genders and age. But one might not have known that unless one had watched FOX and seen and heard the voices. I don’t think Fox staged/paid for the interviews. I would think that with tens and maybe hundreds of thousands in attendance at the D.C. party, that they all wern’t the generic “white folks”, but a mixed group that agree on why they are there.

      • Smilee

Funny how it crossed your mind that FOX may have paid for the interviews of course you would say you don’t thinks so but that says you cannot be sure

      • JeffH

Smilee … That comment was put in for you.

      • eyeswideopen

Jeff, I was watching Fox, I was dying to see how they were covering it. The police stated that the crowd was not over 30k. Hey they are the experts when it comes to this. I did lol alot when Glenn was trying to lie about the amount of people and couldn’t even come up with a bogus university to quote… it was funny, sorry. If it had been factual, his production crew could have given him the info immediately. Oh when we practice to deceive.

      • eyeswideopen

jeff, the total count was based on the Police estimates, who have vast experience in judging crowds as they have to adjust their coverage when the crowds grow. Highest number estimated was at 30k.

      • JeffH

check out this link as it is reporting objectively the various estimates. http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=109844

Officers with the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department told WND the department does not provide crowd estimates. Capitol police declined to comment.
The London Daily Mail originally estimated a turnout of “up to 2 million,” but that estimate now reads “as many as one million people.”

Meanwhile, Fox News’ Glenn Beck said he believes he heard estimates closer to 1.7 million coming from the University of Illinois.

Politifact reported that Pete Piringer, public affairs officer for the Washington, D.C., Fire and Emergency Department “unofficially” estimated that between 60,000 and 75,000 people attended the march.

Pajamas Media’s Charlie Martin used several crowd counting techniques to estimate a crowd of “probably well more than 850,000.”

The Los Angeles Times reported Pete Sepp, spokesman for the National Taxpayers Union, said rally organizers believed the crowd reached 75,000 in the morning, but that it grew to between 200,000 and 300,000 as the day went on.

No one knows for sure, but far more than 15-30,000.

      • Smilee

        Jeff

World Net Daily is a far right propaganda site, is that the best you can do?? Glen Beck??? 1.7 million, hell he cannot even count that many and he is totally wrong 90% of the time so that tells me this group was but a very small fraction of that number, admit it is was no where near what you had hoped for so you have to make up these stories.

      • JeffH

I will repeat one more time…The D.C. PD would not give out any info on the crowd count. A figure of 60,000 – 75,000 were estimated by the D.C. FD. I have searched far and wide, left-right-middle and cannot find an estimate by the PD, only that they won’t comment on the size of the crows.

Smilee…If you opened your eyes just a little you would have read my comments on the crowd and some examples, with the link, of who was reporting what. I will point out that there were big discrepancies in the crowd count, but I’ll take the FD count.

      • eyeswideopen

jeff, you can usually trust the amount that the police estimate as they have to adjust the amount they have on duty, depending on the size. They reported a max of 30,000. Sorry but that is a far cry from 1.5 million.

      • JeffH

The D.C. Police will not give estimates or any counts, the FD estimated between 60-70 thousand and others reported that at peak times could have been close to 200,000. Far cry from just a few thousand as some of the nedia tried to blow it off as insignificant.
I wasn’t there so I don’t know and which source can one believe as number reported were as few as 10,000 and as high as 1.5 – 2 million.
Most of the Dems in D.C. have blown it off as insignificant also.
Washington had better start paying attention beause a lot of Congress and the Senate will get a new facelift with the 2010 elections.

      • Smilee

WE know for sure there was over a million out there the day Obama was inaugurated and the pictures shown that day shows a hell of a lot of more people than the pictures shown last Saturday, There was no where near as many as you want us to believe, that is not to say it was not impressive but to small to make a real difference because the last time protests produced change was during the civil rights protests and the Vietnam protests and they where one hell of a lot bigger than these. This will be seen in hind site as a passing fad and will change nothing.

      • Mike D

        eyeslideopen,
You seem to be one of the very few who constantly bring race into the conversation. Nearly every other thread you state “WHITE” men or such. No one else seems to be so stuck on noticing color as you seem to be. GREEN is color of Greed and there is NO particular color of any of the participants.

      • JeffH

You probably won’t get a response on that one. The truth shall set you free.

      • eyeswideopen

Mike, on Fox news one of the crowd participants stated that it was a “sea of white faces” and was very proud of that fact. The only other time I use white, is when this group makes accusations that I am black. Which I’m not and I will state exactly what and who I am. Sorry , you haven’t been around the sites enough to see all the things, I have been called. Stick around, I’m sure you will enjoy!

      • Smilee

        Eyes

I have heard about ten figures quoted from the far right , ranging from 20,0000 to 1.5 million, the far right wingers where so anxious to get the word out they did not pick one number so each then could have used the same number, we have a great comparison from the air views of both the inauguration and last Saturday, we know the inauguration air picture was over a million and this air picture only had a very small part of that crowd but then we all knew this like everything else they do would be exaggerated and lied about. Those of us old enough to remember the civil rights gatherings in DC and the Vietnam protests this was only a small fraction of those as well, that was the last demonstrations that had any effect on voting or legislation. These tea parties will not produce what they hope for and will in the end be just a passing fad as that is all it is.

      • Smilee

        sorry 20,000 to 1.5 million

      • JeffH

Great analogy….I’m listening, go ahead, more? You’ve confused me, can you repeat…please

      • Smilee

I’m sure a two year old would have no trouble confusing you

      • JeffH

Keep believing the “passing fad” thing.

      • eyeswideopen

Smilee, police estimated it to be max of 30k.

      • JeffH

One again, the police would not give estimates.

      • Smilee

I think that is about right maybe a few more, what I find so funny is that these numbers range from 20,000 to 1.7 million that is a ratio of 85:1 and Glen Beck can still say 1.7 million with a straight face, utterly amazing. I’ll bet behind close doors they are real disappointed in the result otherwise why would they be all over the page to prove it was no great and no two of these radicals can agree on a number, this obvious confusion says a lot more about them than what they are actually saying.

      • eyeswideopen

Jeff, a retired police officer in the crowd, was the one who gave the estimate, he stated he worked the crowds prior to retirement and he thought he was pretty close to being correct. He stated the crowd was not tightly packed, and didn’t even reach the monument. He was on site during Obama’s and stated that they were packed like sardines and that there wasn’t a gap in the throngs, it was difficult to even cross from one side of the street to another. Let’s say he was off by 100%, it would still be a far cry from 1.5 million. They will be able to tell a little later by the revenue generated by the service industries. They didn’t even have enough por-o-potties to service a million people. Come on Jeff, you are logical, you know Glenn was blowing wind up someones dress. lol

      • JeffH

eyeswideopen…I have searched the internet far and wide and still cannot find a PD that would estimate the crowd.
Could you provide me with the link?
In the meantime I will accept the D.C. FD estimates of 60-75 thousand.

      • JeffH

eyes, at what point did I support Glen Beck’s numbers? I didn’t!

    • Smilee

They all three had segments on it but we’ve gotten used to your tall tales and exaggerations and have come to expect this

Alfred, I’d say you got on a pretty good ‘GRAVY TRAIN’, and I guess you don’t want anyone else to have your same advantages, is that right?

  • DaveH

I’m sure that many of you have known a government employee. Are they smarter than you? Even if so, do you think they know best how to live your life? Of course they don’t. Not even the most intelligent people know how to make another person happiest because every one of us has different criteria for happiness. So why would you want that person to have the power of force over your life-decisions?
If a person was in the employ of a company and he/she could not be fired, do you think that person would tend to work harder at his/her job or not-so-hard? The answer is obvious. So, how could you possibly think that disinterested protected government people would run the health care industry or any other industry better than private companies would?
When a company is privately run, you may at any time choose to terminate their services and choose another company. Do you think you are going to have that choice when government is involved?

Many government employees are very dedicated just like any body else, and most make less money. Who makes more the president of the US or the president of GM.

I am not an advocate for frequent changes in laws and constitutions, but laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind. As that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, new truths discovered and manners and opinions change, with the change of circumstances, institutions must advance also to keep pace with the times. We might as well require a man to wear still the coat which fitted him when a boy as civilized society to remain ever under the regimen of their barbarous ancestors.”
    - Thomas Jefferson

Men fear thought as they fear nothing else on earth — more than ruin — more even than death…. Thought is subversive and revolutionary, destructive and terrible, thought is merciless to privilege, established institutions, and comfortable habit. Thought looks into the pit of hell and is not afraid. Thought is great and swift and free, the light of the world, and the chief glory of man.

When in high school back in 69-71 I often wondered what it would be like if the hippies that surrounded me actually managed to run the country. One of them, (a friend of mine) gave a report on his future goals and said his were to be ether “a bum or president” and he was serious! We now have a White House pretty much full of those “Bums” and “Hippies” and the future looks very bleak as a result, to the point of having animals suing in court.

It doesn’t matter if it’s Dems. or Repbs. who are guilty of destroying our country. The fact is we need to weed out the bad in both and vote in ONLY those who respect our constitution and our freedoms. Be it Dems., Repb., Ind. or libn. who cares just get these buffoons out and replace them with REAL Americans.

    • Robin from Indiana

Mike D. Your post was right on. I don’t care if the next President is black, mulatto (like our current president) or white like our past presidents. I just want them to be an American. One who is not power-hungry, greedy, and self-indulgent. I want someone honest. Someone who will listen to the will of the people. It’s time to vote the bums out. I prayed earnestly before our last election. I wanted the man of God’s own choosing to be our next President. Obama is here and in his position because God has allowed it to happen. Our ways are not His ways. I know that God has put him into power for a reason. I truly believe that it’s to ‘wake up’ America. We are on a very slippery slope and we need to become more educated with our choices. And I don’t believe in evolution either! I always think that those who do probably have a family tree that has ancestors that look like apes….

      • Independentthinker

Sorry, but have to disagree with you. God did not Make it happen, God let it happen. Obama is not the president because God wanted him to be. Remember how this election was riddled with fraud and corruption. Obama stole the election fair and square so to speak. Let’s leave God of of this one. He will however, be involved later. Read The Revelation of Jesus Christ and you will see what God’s plan is.

To me, if they want to experiment on each other, SOBEIT. Any plans they have for forcing their experiment on America merits whatever it takes to ‘get their attention’ and send them packing – in more ways than one.
Even uf they tried to wrap this insanity in a flag of ‘democracy,’ it wouldn’t work. Remember, a democracy is the government of the herd. America is a REPUBLIC.

      • JeffH

Correct Norm, and without accountability…until now. I still don’t hear Obamas’ influence on an investigation. Why did radical Fox break the story when it was presented to them way ahead of anybody else? Aren’t they Bush, Cheney guys?

      • JeffH

And Baltimore wants to prosecute the scamming “Pimp and Prostitute”
while ACORN is threatening the P&P and Fox for, once again, being exposed as a crooked, evil organization. As the world turns, go figure!

      • eyeswideopen

Jeff, the judicial branch is not run by the executive branch, they are supposed to be totally independent, not like when my favorite President hijacked that branch. So Obama could call for an investigation until he is blue in the face and Holder doesn’t have to do crap. That little division is what is supposed to protect us from Presidents rewritting laws and during a crisis subverting our rights claiming executive power and priviledge. Remember? I know you do, You must have been tired when you made that remark.

      • JeffH

Selective influence I guess. Every president will use their influene when they feel it necessary. Just a part of politics.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Bush and Cheney did a great job. Freed millions of people. Punched back at the enemy that kept attacking us. Had employment at an all time high. Had unemployment at an all time low. Had the stock market at an all time high. What the hell did you guys want from him? What more could he do? My God, get over your hate. They are done and gone, they did wonderful things, and your guys now come and screwed the whole country up, and its always someone elses fault. Quit being the victim, pull up your panties, and stop being the problem and start working towards being the solution. How can you help? Ill tell you. Vote either Republican or Independent in 2010. Thats the best way to start. Millions are allready on board.

      • eyeswideopen

For the first time I am going to say that I think you are delusional. I know for a fact that you are trully out of touch with our most recent past and I fear for you. I don’t think there are even any Republicans that could agree with those statements.

    • JeffH

Even a dog and cat can get along once in awhile.

  • Rich

    Norm

Your points though valid made no sense to the frame of what I wrote and quite simply my entire LSD post was about how Obama was spinning a fairy tale. He does surround himself with Communists/Fascists/Socialists. Van Jones was a self avowed Communist, His science Advisor (can’t remember his name off top of head) maybe not a full blown but definitively has Fasist views and well most Liberals are socialists. Hitler was a leftist in many ways as he may have stated worker ownership but so did the communists and on the point of preaching hate or racism as being a right wing idea if it is then to be honest the right should be ashamed of themselves. I will say I probably should have put the in the order he surrounds himself which would be Socialists/Communists/Fascists but I did not and to be honest did not care to at the time of the original post. On your point of true socialism, there has never in the history of this world’s governments been a true socialism or communism only people being surpressed by tryannical governments of corrupt people. If communism could ever be accomplished it would be a Utopian society unfortunantly man/woman gets involved and destroys it with greed.

    • Rich

figured I would add the definition of Fascism and not what Wiki has which is complete garbage because it says nothing.

      http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/fascism

      Main Entry: com·mu·nism

Etymology: French communisme, from commun common

Norm seeing as your one of the few people who actaully make valid arguments for socialism tell me how he does not surround himself with people who believe in these 2 ways which are what the governmental styles are.I never compared Obama to the style of Fascism of Hitler with his preaching hate of race only that he surrounds himself with fascists which he does. I never stated ‘comrade’ obama which many others have I said he surrounds himself with them. I never said all 3 were one governmental style but I will state for the record any governmental style not ran by the many has always become corrupt. I stated that he, himself and not the people areound him now, is spoon feeding us fairy tales.

      • Smilee

You are one mixed up confused person totally out of touch with the real world, we need people who are part of the solution today and not people like you who are part of the problem

      • DaveH

Another personal attack from Sleepee. When are you Liberals going to start debating with real ideas instead of name-calling, ridicule, personal attacks, and other forms of manipulation?

      • Smilee

        Davie

Call it what you like but why not do something intelligent and define what you said is a personal attack but it will not change the fact of what I said was true and I know you have a real problem with the truth as you almost always spew out misinformation or irrelevant information and the truth be damed

      • JeffH

DaveH…remember that “one man’s truth becomes another man’s lie”.
A few others on this site are unable to distinguish truths from lies.
Maybe it was all of the drugs from the 60′s that damaged the brain.

      • JeffH

Smilee..It is nice to know you were safe in “Never Never Land” and shielded from all of us “Right Wing Extremists”. Believe what you want, that is the American way, but be careful what you wish for and no American President or his Government has the right to “Force” their personal. anti-American agendas on the American citizen.
I sat for years and allowed my government to run over my constitutional rights, and I am now awake and expressing my support or non-support to those I need to. From city councils to county, state and the federal government.
I have watched some of my constitutional rights attacked, and liberties removed in California and throughout America by the Democrats, Republicans and the Liberal Left and I will keep my eyes and ears open to more attacks on my freedom and voice my distain and protest vigorously to those in charge. I will also continue to let my votes speak for me and monitor government to help me decide whom I vote for. I don’t align myself with any political party, Ivote for America.

      • Rod

your problem is your not part of ANYTHING.

      • Smilee

I agree, he is extremely mixed up and makes no sense to rational people

People that pulled the lever of an unknown commodity, a person who’s only experience has been a community organizer. A person of questionable reputation, who has close associations with mobsters like Rezko, with domestic terrorists like William Ayers, with avowed racist like Rev. Wright, and many other questionable alliances. Yes, people that pulled the lever next to a person of this questionable objections, they sir, are a big part of the problem, and look what its done. Millions, and millions more to come, have lost their jobs because of, well not so much just this man, but this mans parties ideas of how to run things, without having a plan or course of action. They have weakened us in our enemies eyes. They have divided this country. They have angered the masses, and in 2010 they are going to get swept out in unseen before numbers, because the American people have learned their lesson allready, about being part of the problem. Unqualified from the start, and then it got worse. Yeah, thats how it is Pal.

      • Norm

        Rich
I am not a communist, socialist, fascist, or a nazi.
Neither is Obama. Even George W. Bush wasn’t, although his military views and dictatorial style had some mild fascist similarities. Incidently the goverments of Italy and Germany in WW2 hated communism. They fought the communists in Spain and Russia. Spain wound up with an ultra right wing government under Franco. Hitler also believed in the private sector. Krupp, BMW, Daimler, Fokker and many arms companies still exist. Rush was ranting about Nazi’s the other day and had it twisted as usual.
My point is that Obama is actually more centrist than even liberal. Many left wingers are a little disappointed with him. I personally think he’s about where he should be politically. He is also very intelligent and articulate.
We need some changes in government and we need changes in the private sector. Our economy is improving, but we need more jobs. Most US companies have downsized and are beginning to be profitable again. But we need descent paying jobs. Lending poor people money is a loosing proposition as we have just seen. Minamim wage earners don’t pay taxes, buy homes, buy health insurance, or do much for the economy.
Right wing ranting and longing for the good old days(when I grew up)is not at all helpful. Neither are lies, spin, and misinformation.
Dave- I’m not 13 or 16 but even when I was, I understood how to approach a problem logically.
Smilee and Eyeswideopen – Don’t let Dave get to you. He wants to live in a teepee and trap beaver.
        I apologize for typos.

      • http://blackwellknives@hotmail.com Zane

O is articulate and a good speaker. He is obviously intelligent, his policies and principles are not good for this country. That is why the stock market (Dow) fell 3 or 4 hundred points the first three speeches he made as pres.

      • eyeswideopen

Zane up until now I haven’t called anyone any names, but let me say that you are something close to silly or completely alseep, if you think that Obama caused this financial mess. You don’t remember Bush passing the Tarp funds prior to the election???

      • Rich

Funny part about what I wrote is I said nothing but the tale Obama spun about him personally and everything about those he surrounds himself with. And to the point that I was the loser in this, to be blunt I was the loser with Bush also as I hated him and his fascist agenda after 9/11. Yet everyone who has said anything in response to me has either 1. attacked me personally because they have nothing but hate in their own hearts and can not do anything but try to make others feel as bad as they personally feel which is quite pathetic, or 2 they defend the president about not being those things. I never said he was only that he spins a great fairy tale and surrounds himself with those types of people.

I will bluntly say that President Obama is probably one of the biggest ‘Cult of Personality’ politician this country has seen since John F. Kennedy. He can have a speech that honestly has no real meat to it, and is more of a pep rally speech but all those attending get caught up in his enthusiasm . I will not say he personally is bad or any of the things that he surrounds himself with, only because he won’t say what he believes, he only gives rhetoric and innuendos most of the time. On the rare occasions he has actually provided any details in his general speeches, and I don’t mean from before the primaries, it has been bipartisan for the most part. If you look before the primaries, I have seen 2 different speeches about the same thing where he disagreed with himself based on his audience, which is business as usual for the political scene of Washington. Those are the worst things I can say about Obama. I can say lots about those he surrounds himself with as some of them are very extreme, weather towards Dictatorial or Communistic values varies from one to the other.

Smilee I hope one day you grow up and quit trying to bring people to your level of ignorance and hate.

billy to believe the Republicans started anything is foolish as they can’t get off of their collective fat arses and elect a leader let alone start a grass roots movement or anything else. people on here love to say I am republican because I agree with some of the things they say well guess what I also agree with Democrats on some issues because I am in the middle.

Norm, thanks for your input and sorry you took what I wrote out of the context I meant it but it made for a good discussion with you anyways.

      • JeffH

Rich…just a note on Smilee…he or she is just entertaining itself, trying to ruffle some feathers. Can’t take it too serious.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Rant what you want. But I do know one thing. Ill see Mr. Bush in heaven when I go there. This new guy, he still has time, but he is headed for heat at the moment with his muslim affliction. And you like that. Wanker.

      • eyeswideopen

Rich, the many did elect him and he is running the country the way they want. The problem is that it just happens to not be the way that you and the losing party wants. Hey, that’s the way the political system works, the winners get to rule. He won with a majority, so he gets to make the same or different mistakes that our belove Pres. Bush did.

      • JeffH

Ah, that is only a half truth. Yes he did get elected by a landslide, but every day his approval rating drops indicates to me that more and more of his supporters are jumping off the bus and dissaprove of his tactics.

      • JeffH

I don’t think the Obama voter expected this from Obama.

      • JeffH

You are one for the ages. It isn’t about winners or losers getting to make the choices despite the other sides views. We are all losers in this game you support overwhelmingly!
This is about America and the American people, not “I win,you lose, ha ha ha” and “now is the time to pay back Bush for all of his wrongdoings as president”.
You wouldn’t know right from wrong if it was staring you in the face.
I will wait anxiously for the “name calling” to start.

      • eyeswideopen

Jeff, you know the other day, I tried to respond to you about all the names you have called me, I listed them all together, and Bob wouldn’t allow that reply to be printed… Commie Ho, was one of my favorites, You really shouldn’t be throwing those stones, don’t you rmemeber that Dave asked you not to do that? You are now acting like you never committed that act? That’s what is so infuriating about your “group”, you have the nerve to bash someone for exactly what you are doing yourselves. It is such a joke. You hold this President to higher standards than the previous three and you can’t see the hyprocrisy.

      • JeffH

eyeswideopen..I don’t recall calling you any names since DaveH’s appeal for peace! And I will not repeat but I will apologise to you for that last one, which we both know, because you just mentioned it.

        I am sorry.

That said, you can dish it out but you have a very difficult time taking it! If the shoe fits, wear it! You are not what you claim to be!

      • JeffH

eyeswideopen, I quote your accusation: It is such a joke. You hold this President to higher standards than the previous three and you can’t see the hyprocrisy.

I hold every president to a higher standard. In my lifetime, I cannot remember a president with the ideaology of Obama. I cannot remember a president that has purposely made anti-americans a part of his advisory staff. And I cannot remember a president that had a mentor like the Rev. Wright and his hateful spit. I cannot remember a president that was backed by the likes of an anti-american like Soros who hates everything about America and supports anti-american terrorism.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Jeff, they will be blaming Bush for years to come, because hey, look at the facts. They have no plan. They have no ideas. They have no course of action. They are adlibbing as they go. They spent so much time, standing there, pointing fingers, that instead of helping, they more than became part of the problem, they indeed became the problem. Now the problem is causing this country big problems, and their blind followers are only doing what they have blindly followed for years, stand there and say “Bush did it”. So sad for them isnt it? Are they going to blame Bush someghow when all their worthless leaders get voted to the curb in 2010. Hmm, I wonder how Bush will get blamed for that? Dont worry, theyll figure it out.

      • Norm

After reading some of the nonsense above, I think the Republican Party, of which I am still a member, is in deep dodo. You right-wing bible toting kooks are doing more for the Democratic Party than they could ever hope to do for themselves. You think the 2010 Congressional elections are going to change the landscape – I wouldn’t bet any money on it. Keep following the hate-mongers and wishing failure on the current administration. Go to your clever little tea parties and scream foolishness in peoples faces. Support candidates like Demint, Boehner, and Palin (remember Allen and Santorem) and you load the Democrat’s guns for them. What ever to sane Repbulicans?

    • DaveH

      Rich,
I grew up in a poor section of town. Many years later, I lived in a suburban middle-class neighborhood, most of whom would probably be classed as right-wingers by Norm. The poor people I knew were far more racist than the right-wingers. And the blacks I’ve known during my life played the race card far more than the whites I’ve known did.

      • eyeswideopen

Dave, you think it was because they were treated so badly for so many years? No, what, not here in America, that would never happen. LOL

      • JeffH

And those that are not racists, but are white, must suffer the “indignity” of being decendents of the white man. Racism has no political boundaries, nor does racism have color boundaries. Why is it that the liberal left, and their sympathizers always bring racism into these discussions

      • JeffH

I would like to strike my last sentance as it was “out of line”!
“Why is it that the liberal left, and their sympathizers always bring racism into these discussions”

      • eyeswideopen

I will give you the defination of racism one more time Jeff, “The notion that one’s own ethnic stock is superior”. I don’t care if you are Irish, if you think you are better than the Hispanics, then you are a racist. Period.

      • JeffH

        rac·ism \’rā-”siz-əm\ n
1 : belief that certain races of people are by birth and nature superior to others
2 : discrimination or hatred based on race
        — rac·ist \’rā-səst\ n or adj

      • http://blackwellknives@hotmail.com Zane

Exactly, Glen Beck has been labled a racist by bloggers because he disagreed with a black man. I am tired of it, Rosa on the bus and MLK included the civil rights movement of the sixties would have been for naught without compassionate white people.

      • eyeswideopen

Zane, he was given crap, because he made a stupid statement accusing the President of being a racist, which would mean he hated his own mother, grandmother and grandfather. Glenn, stated that he hated white people. You need to go back and read the transcript of your idol. Stupid statement from Glenn.

      • Smilee

Those white people were mostly liberals too, and the racist white ones did nothing to help Martin and they were mostly conservatives

      • JeffH

America and Americans have come a long way and made a lot of progress since 1968. That was then, this is now. Put that card back in the deck where it belongs.

      • Smilee

WE have a ways to go as yet, it was zane that brought MLK into the conversation not me, I merely responded and besides do you have something against learning from history?

      • JeffH

Smilee it is cool you were on a first name bases with Dr. King…I lived through it all too.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Like the rich men, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Jim Brown and many others. Got life by the tail. Better than I will ever have it. But man oh man, can these guys ever play the race card. I figured that now since we have a black man as president, that should be a testament that any black man anywhere can become anything, and there are no more excuses. If this guy did it, give him the damn credit he deserves, and say you can do it to. The victim game is over.

      • JeffH

Beberoni. I will set the record straight…Obama ia a man of color, he is not black nor is he white. Everyone on this site should understand that before the racist statements are spewed.
I don’t like or trust him for his politics, but I do not “hate” him either.

  • s c

When comrade obama talks about ‘saving’ money, those words are consciously aimed at 1) people too young to recognize b s without help and 2) camp-followers who would vote for anyone ‘blessed’ by their party. Either way, it’s ignorance leading the ignorant.
As far as mickey mouse is concerned, you can be sure that mickey and legions of dead people voted for comrade obama.
It’s the same psychotic mentality that let people know in advance that Stalin and Mao could never ‘lose’ an election. Sarcasm is a fitting tool in trying to defend America from those who will use and abuse America to get what they want. Conservatives, too, have given America some choice losers over the years, BUT we never tried to sugar coat a self-made loser like Van Jones or that pimps-r-us ACORN herd.

    • Norm

      Sc
Your self rightous one sided political views amaze me. Don’t you sometimes, maybe late at night, realize that your perceptions of the world are extreme, largely unproven, and totally scripted by mental midgets like Glen Beck? Try listening to both sides of issues with an OPEN MIND. You may be surprised, and actually learn somthing new and factual.
I bet you don’t believe in evolution and do belive in the teachings of the late(un great) Jerry Falwell.

      • Smilee

They do not believe there is another side so how can they listen to it. An open mind in not in their DNA so that is not possible either, there is no hope for them,

      • DaveH

The “mental midget” Glen Beck is exposing your cohorts for the crooks and liars and whack-jobs that they really are.
“Open minds”. That’s a laugh riot. Yes they are “open” as in the vacuum of space between your ears.

      • Smilee

        Davie

The only thing Glen Beck has ever accomplished is to show us just how ignorant he is of reality and he is exposing nothing except that he is an arrogant, egotistical stuffed shirt who is almost always wrong in his analysis of whatever the subject, Open mind is not something you possess so for you to pretend you know what it is, is ridiculousness and if Glen Beck is one of your heros that better defines you too and both of you have demonstrated that you are both accurately mental midgets and out of touch with reality. It seem like every time you are confronted with someone like Norm you make these type of silly statements and I think it is because you do not know how to respond intelligently to an intelligent person, in other words you are out of your league with these people.

      • eyeswideopen

Smilee, just heard Glen Beck state that “he is becoming more Libertarian, that the scales are falling off his eyes”, that’s why Dave likes him, the other people I just don’t know why.
However the Repub’s will have a problem with Libertarians as they accept abortion and gays, along with all religious groups. Those three things will prevent the Repubs from embracing that party. Glenn is hosting the tea party at D.C. acting like it was a spontanous free meeting, he is not mentioning that they charged the people to participate in this “groundroots” showing. “Land of the Free” my arse, just join a Rupert Murdoch march and pay out the nose.
        Laughable.

      • Smilee

Whatever he may call himself he will still be Glen Beck the radical, he is part of the mixed up elites

      • DaveH

Typical Sleepee response – personal attacks instead of substance.
And Eyes, don’t explain the Libertarian freedoms to Sleepee, he might want to join. I hope not. But then again, I remember that he likes to spend other peoples’ money, so he wouldn’t like them.

      • Smilee

        Davie

I have yet to see anything of substance from you, all you do is whine and complain without any substance or statements that suggest solutions
What is sad about what you erroneously call personal attacks about you is that they are all true and need to be pointed out to expose your phony nature. You make these stupid statements when you cannot come up with anything intelligent to say.

      • John

I thought that was quite an accomplishment for someone who hasn’t accomplished anything. You know Glen Beck who was largely responsible for the disposal of Van Jones. Perhaps you just haven’t heard yet because you watch MSNBC.

      • JeffH

While watching CNN yesterday, there was a 3 panel discussion about Glen Beck and his exposure of VanJones…My my my, they agreed that Mr. Beck/FOX was the first to report VanJones shortcomings and that no other major media outlet picked up the story util the day before his “resignation”. Mind you, this was CNN reporting. They also agreed that he has been, for the mostpart, accurate with his accusations and commended him for his sincerity.
        A star in the making!

      • bbstacker

Glenn was on CNN before FOX, and he was more “encouraging” then (pitchforks and torches) than he’s been on FOX. He’s toned it down a notch. Nothing that Glenn has advocated, discussed or shown is radical-he doesn’t make this stuff up, he just brings it to the foreground. The truth burns some of you like Willie Peet, doesn’t it? Preserve and Defend the U.S. Constitution!

      • John

        Jeff H
That’s great too hear, finally left wing media that will report both sides of the story. Kinda like Fox.

Glen Beck is a physco. His mother and brother commited suicide and he is an admitted drunk.

One who understands high biology. Do you believe Earth is the center of the Universe?

      • Norm

        thats high school

      • gail lightfoot

Glenn Beck is saying what his viewers want to hear. That is the goal of any program.
And yes no one wants to give freedom to others in order to have it for themselves. They trust themselves and only themselves. When I say Let them make and live with their mistakes, people immediately think they will have to pay for that other guys mistake because they cannot imagine a time or place when volunteer support was all you got. If you were a jerk and no one wanted to help you out, you hit the road or rails and starved or barely survived. We cannot imagine it.
BUT, unless we let go of forcing our moral standards on others along with giving all people the right to relocate as long as they support themselves, none of us are truly free.
I cannot repeat often enough that If I [or 'they'] are not Free, You are not Free.
Acorn is now well organized. Let them provide charity without a single tax dollar.

Glenn Beck – mental midget? Wow Norm, dont fall off your pedestal Mr. Wizard. I got a thousand bucks says you and Glenn in a room with an IQ test each, that he blows you away. I think then Mr. Norm, we would truly see who the mental midget is. Your out of touch dude. Give up the crack.

  • Rich

Wow really gee whiz, our government is gonna save money from Obama’s magical Health care bill that the Wizard of Oz sent to him via magical pixie dust induced rabbit courier, or was that the LSD trip he was on when he was listening to all of those idiot socialist/fascist/communists he surrounds himself with? I say a vote for Micky Mouse during the last election would have probably been just as realistic a goal as to what O-dunderhead-bama is trying to spoon feed us. Yes you can tell I can be a sarcastic twit when it comes to this subject because to be blunt and honest it is and has been nothing but rhetoric and false innuendos from the President to every Congressman or Senator in support of this magical plan.

Just look at the largest supporter of Dictator Obama because it speaks volumes about the direction this administration is taking America. George Soros, aka hater of America’s values and hater of America. He is the money behind Obama and the Democratic party as well as the key influence in the anti-american czar appointments and the attempt to destroy America. He supports terrorism in the world.
He is more dangerous to America than Bin Laden or Obama.

      • eyeswideopen

Jeff, you can’t call him a dictator, as he was elected by the majority in this country. You need to take it up with the RNC who picked McCain, the “I know where Bin Laden is and can get him” guy, and Sarah, I quit Palin. Like it or not he is the President. You know the guy, who you give no respect too.

      • JeffH

I don’t need a lecture! It is what it is. To me, an elected dictator, to you president. Apples and Oranges, president, dictator.
My point is that he is just a big pawn in the Soros chess game of power.

      • John

He’s not a fascist yet! But that’s the direction that he’s trying too take this country in. Please, I am not trying to be mean but you guys really need to look at the big picture. The evidence against Obama is just too overwhelming. Everyday now it’s something new, lately, ACORN. Remember that’s where he played a huge role as a community organizer. I’m not hanging my hat on that one issue either. There’s just too damned much to list here! It is incredible that he has any followers at all.
I was a Democrat and was ready to vote Democrat, but it didn’t take an Eisenstein to figure out what this guy was about. And now that he’s in office he has demonstrated that he is a real danger too this country. By the way I renounced my Democratic Party affiliation I am now a Republican. And please don’t play the race card. After he was confirmed as our new President, I wished him well and supported him. This country needed and still needs a strong leader. However, he has proved that he is not that strong leader that this country needs. He has a political agenda that is contrary to the principles of the constitution and the principles that this country was founded upon. This is a great country and I’m not going to stand by and watch this country become a communist type country.
What is with the Czar BS? We are not in freaking Russia!

      • JeffH

John, some have so much hate for Bush that they cannot focus on what is happening right under their nose. To many, it is just about “You lose, I win”, and nothing more or less. I don’t see any real winners in this game, certainly not America or the American people.

      • eyeswideopen

John, oh John, you need to go back and ask Ford, Nixon, Regan, Bush Sr, and little Bush about their Czars. Were you alseep during their administrations? You people are really something else, this President does the same exact thing that the preceding Presidents did and oh! my God, he must be from Russia!! You are trying to say you aren’t prejudice? What do you call it then, when you hold someone to a higher standard than the previous Presidents??

      • Rod

Yes eyes now tell us they had 34 czars. Never, never land.

      • John

        Eyes
Don’t take out of context what I said. My point re the Czars is clearly in the plural in addition to the fact that this administration is trying to control our country.
Did you not read my entire post? Of course not, you fail to address the other issues. Ok answer me these questions. Why did you guys vote for someone that had close affiliations with the likes of Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers and ACORN?
Again these are only a few issues. To date there are too damned many.
How many more before you people wake up? Or is it just a matter of who wins with you?
Prejudice? I was going too vote for this guy until I did my homework.
How dare you call me prejudice?

      • JeffH

let go of the hate eyeswideopen and let go of the past. I see you not ripping past Democrats that have helped to screw America up. Why is that? Your hate is far stronger than your ability to reason. This is the here and now! Focus and concentrate on a better America. The truth shall set you free!

      • eyeswideopen

Rod, today information just released that Bush actually had 47 CZAR’s.
Sorry, that does beat Obama’ total.

      • eyeswideopen

John, It tires me out to have to go line by line and show you how you are showing prejudice. Since Bush was the last President, who do you want me to use to compare Presidencies? I just use the last one. OK, if you want to delve into who Bush hung around with who have been either convicted of crimes, involved in scandals, or are just well known slease bags, I will come back tomorrow and have a list of the afore mentioned. I will also give you the voting debacles here in Florida during Bush’s attempt to become President. It was a total embarrassment to live in this state at that time. Kathrine Harris, stated in the newspaper, Jeb, just get the decision to Florida and I can deliver the Presidency to your brother. Oh how the fix was in. I am just to tired tonight to look up all the facts for you. But since you are requesting that I give you further information I will tomorrow.. Sometimes it is exhausting as you people never come up with ideas how to fix things you are just looking for the bad things and you personally hold one single man responsible for everything that happens in this country. Where is your responsibility, who did you vote into office. Have they made you proud and are you going to put them their again? Obama, isn’t God, he is merely a new President trying to cope with a shit load of issues that we all helped to create. Just what do you think John McCain would have done with these issues?

      • eyeswideopen

Ok, here’s Bushes pals: i will not be capitalizing as my fingers are really swollen today. jack abramhoff, scooter libby, tom delay, newt gingrich, billy tauzin, duke cunningham, dusty foggo, john walters, porter goss, claude allen, david safavian, dick armey, dennis hastert, roy blunt, leandro aragoncillo, dick cheney, etc. etc. etc….and on and on and on….some of the other people who were personal friends are; jimmy swaggart, jim bakker, paul crouch and we all know all about them don’t we.

      • John

I’ll take Bush’s pals over Obama’s any day. Duh

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

If the democrats were left unchecked for too long a time, that is exactly what they would do. They allready try to silence any opposition to them, or do you not know of their attempts to shut down talk radio, to silence Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity. Yeah, they dont want anyone to hear the truth. If you try to deny this, then you sir, are a liar, in the mold of one William Jefferson Clinton, the king of the liars.

    • Norm

      Rich
      socialist/fascist/communists?

Many conservatives accuse Hitler of being a leftist, on the grounds that his party was named “National Socialist.” But socialism requires worker ownership and control of the means of production. In Nazi Germany, private capitalist individuals owned the means of production, and they in turn were frequently controlled by the Nazi party and state. True socialism does not advocate such economic dictatorship — it can only be democratic. Hitler’s other political beliefs place him almost always on the FAR RIGHT. He advocated racism over racial tolerance, eugenics over freedom of reproduction, merit over equality, competition over cooperation, power politics and militarism over pacifism, dictatorship over democracy, capitalism over Marxism, realism over idealism, nationalism over internationalism, exclusiveness over inclusiveness, common sense over theory or science, pragmatism over principle, and even held friendly relations with the Church, even though he was an atheist.

      • eyeswideopen

        Norm, excellent points, well stated.

      • DaveH

        Eyes,
You disappoint me. I know Norm, Sleepee, and Fool have minds that are closed like steel traps, but I expect more from you.

      • DaveH

So tyranny is okay as long as it’s your brand of tyranny?

      • s c

Ultralibs, globalists and all other assorted basket cases define freedom as a ‘wonderful condition where having no rights is the
height of freedom.’ That is, you are totally ‘free’ to be a slave. What these soulless stooges fail to realize is that this new condition would ‘evolve’ an American version of the old USSR’s politburo. It certainly is ‘change,’ but the ones who benefit the most are the decision-makers (not the mindless useful idiots who confuse no rights and no possesions with the new ‘wealth’). As Yogi Berra might say, ‘it’s deja vu all over again.’
It takes a toll on the mind, as self-delusion subjugates the will to be free. History shows us time and time again that utopia is best left to works of fiction. That is the only place where politicians can’t destroy nations from within. It is a pandora’s box that must not be opened. This is the gap that separates freedom-lovers from those who worship at the altar of ‘change-at-any-cost’ – especially when someone else is expected to pay for it.

      • eyeswideopen

Must be, as it was ok during the time that Bush and his cronies were raping this country and not one of you or your conservative friends can even admit his actions, so I’m fairly sure you didn’t take any action to stop it either. If you were truly seeking answers you would take the time to view this. http://www.netrootsmass.net/hugh-bush-scandals-list/ But let me predict that not one of you has the patience to read it to the end and instead of researching, you will just do your normal strike out at the opposing viewpoints. WE LIVED UNDER TYRANNY DURING THE BUSH YEARS, which I tried to fight, what did all of you do??

      • JeffH

Once again, the reason for all the hate is the focus of 8 years and Bush! Bush will end up with many chapters in the history books for singlehandedly destroying America! WOW!
The donkey with the blinders will always follow the carrot that is dangled in front!

      • gail lightfoot

Benevolent? Right? Nope! Even you or I with all our wisdom would fail to see all the unintended consequences.
LIBERTY to succeed or fail and face asking a friend or family member to help out when you fail.
There is a line in The Hunchback of Notre Dame – ‘We went door to door asking for work so we would not starve. They said ‘Starve, you may not work’.’

The far right is not racist! The far right is very much made up of Christians.

      • eyeswideopen

Zane, are you saying that because you are a Christian, you can’t be a racist? Oh, my gosh, this country is in deep trouble it that is what you think. Do you remember the KKK, they were white, Christian, rednecks. Get in the game.

      • JeffH

Your ue of racism isn’t warranted and is really getting old in you posts. I think we all are aware of the KKK and the terrible things that were done. Don’t get the fact that we don’t trust government or this administration with racism. Remember racism has no color barriers and the vote for Obama was just as tainted with racism as was the vote for McCain.

      • JeffH

        Don’t confuse the fact…

      • Smilee

I did not know that hate was a Christian trait I thought God is love and when I was part of and an activist in the republican party when the far right wingers gained strength in the party that was when I found out how hateful and racist these people were and they did claim to be Christians but I left the party because I could no longer work with these type of selfish people

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Gimme a break Norm. Have you lost all touch with reality? Hitler was a carbon copy of a damn democrat of today. He wanted everything his way, no one else was entitled to their opinion, and he silenced anyone with opposition to him. And he was a whack job. Yes, a carbon copy of todays democrat.

      • eyeswideopen

Actually Beber, you just described the Republicans on this site to a tee. You guys can’t accept any ideas but your own and if you aren’t a member of the Christian Conservative rt, you are a $@#$^%$ liberal commie. If you don’t agree with the Republican platform hook line and sinker you are disloyal %$##@%^%^$lefty. Sad, very sad.

      • Norm

        Beberoni
whack job? It takes one to no one.

    • Robin from Indiana

Rich says: rhetoric and false innuendos from the President to every Congressman or Senator in support of this magical plan.
I couldn’t agree more! So many untruths coming from this administration. I know they can’t be perfect, none has yet, but to have everything they say be a lie is really getting old. The campaign was for honesty, transparency, no more pork-laden bills, and change we can believe in. What a bunch of crap. And just so you know, I don’t appreciate lies from any party, not just the Dems. It was their shout of honesty and transparency that makes this issue even worse. They convinced so many that their way would be a way that would make everybody proud and we would know what the government was doing. Hogwash!

      • gail lightfoot

Yes, I went to the bill [HR 3200] and found lies on both sides.

      • eyeswideopen

Gail, did you read sec. 246 and 152? I would like your interpretation of those sec’s. Tx in advance.

      • eyeswideopen

Robin, you need to get with the RNC as the top 6 Senators who are getting the largest amount of Pork are Republicans. Little hypocrital on our part don’t you think? When I say our, I mean the Republican.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I believe Robert Byrd has always, and continues, to lead in the collection of pork. I dont think this can be denied. And he is a democrat last I looked. Yep, Robert “Sheets” Byrd. Ex klansmen, loved by the blacks in his state. Not sure how that works though.

      • eyeswideopen

Berb, I gave you the website to go to, but instead, you just start spewing lies. The facts are us Republicans are requesting the highest amount of money in addition to requesting the most total qty’s of earmarks. It is in the Congressional record, for goodness sake, you need to get out of the denial mode and into the real world.

  • Mike D

That congressman said it all when he shouted out “You lie”!

It’s getting to the point were no one believes anything he mutters any more, and that’s his fault!

Same old….same old…..same old! Business as usual. Hoe Hum!

    • Norm

South Carolina gets roughly $1.00 from Washington for every $0.70 it sends to Washington. Guys like Mark Sanford, Jim Demint, and now Joe Wilson are pretty arrogant for folks in the welfare line. Any bets that all three are out of office as soon as their next elections (maybe sooner for Mark)?

      • http://blackwellknives@hotmail.com Zane

Yea, I’ll bet every lawmaker that sticks with this healthcare albatross is out of a job in oh I don’t know 15 months.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Earth to Norm. Are you awake? In 2010, 25 or more democrats are going to lose their seats. You guys didnt take long to blow it. Did you really think a guy without a clue could amount to anything? Its like Jimmie Carter all over again, except this time he is doing bad stuff instead of just nothing.

      • Norm

Don’t bet the farm on it.

      • Norm

Where did you get those numbers from – Rush?

    • DaveH

Democrats are going to be out in droves in 2010. Just like they were after Jimmy Carter ruined our economy and then had the audacity to proclaim that we needed to “tighten our belts”.

      • eyeswideopen

Sounds just like what us Republicans are saying today! Little hypocritical wasn’t it? Spend, spend, spend, and then tell the next guys, we need to tighten our belts. LOL. You just made my point.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

You know eyes, I readily agree that the Republicans DID NOT get a grasp on their spending, and it pissed me off to no end. But come on, when Americans put a so called “change” in there, and then these wankers spend more in 8 months than the last guys did in 8 years, whoa, Houston we get a problem. Know what I mean.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Typing error – Should read “Houston, we got a problem”.

That will only work if those elected are NOT POWER POLITICANS – working Joe and Jane or Business owner with no desire to make a career out of politics.
We have a chance to elect people who truly believe their job would be to Restore The Republic by dismantling Washingtons’ many unconstitution agencies. Close the Washington offices, tell the states to either take over or give the job to local govts who can ask their residents to voluntarily support them with time or money as they see fit. Abolish all regulations and make all businesses liable for their product be it a home or a widget. I don’t need the city or county telling me what sprinker head to buy and we don’t need to be told we cannot install a composing or incinerating toilet because they are not included in the Plumbing Code [why would they be?].
Good Self Governance is the solution.
If we each take responsibility for ourselves and assist family, friends and neighbors as needed as good old fashioned communities we can regain our Liberties.

  • s c

How can people be unaware on this matter? Our GOVERNMENT has always been the resident screw-up in American health care. Government can’t and won’t tolerate competition.
Competiton means less POWER for those in Congress and the White House. Power is the drug that lets government get bigger each year. Anyone over the mental age of 18 should know that much.
Every time government gets bigger, we have less freedom. At some point, government will do whatever it wants, because the American people will have no rights and no freedom. Anyone who thinks being a slave is an improvement is in dire need of a brain transplant and a new home in another country. If you need help packing, let me know.

    • DaveH

It would be cool, SC, if the liberal politicians would fund their own insurance company and provide policies for their starry-eyed followers. Of course, they know better than that. They know it would fail. The only way their system can work is to have the deep pockets of the unwilling and unfortunate American taxpayer.
The Liberals are free at any time to start their own private health-insurance companies and medical systems to show us how it’s done. But even their pea-brains can grasp the reality that they would fail miserably.

      • eyeswideopen

Hey, Dave I’m all for the Conservatives, to stop getting care via the government… but you can’t get those Republican to repeal Medicare, they like it too much. Just sent letter to Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite asking her why we aren’t trying to repeal Medicare, can’t wait to read her response. You act like the Liberals are the only one participating in this Government run socialized healthcare program.. not true, the Medicare program is taking care of many of our Congressman. Yes, even the Republicans ones!!! LOL. You need to start holding both groups equally responsible, as they are!!! Too many times you are letting your prejudice show regarding your marriage to one of those LIBERALS.

      • penelope

We have all got to STOP thinking by party lines and think like Americans . I am so discouraged by all the party bashing ,as if it had anything to do with the country’s ills. We are battling against Government representatives who have gradually over the years, hijacked our constitution for their own personal financial gain and power. It is a mind set in too many American citizens to do whatever it takes to obtain financial gain and power. With little regard to what the moral cost will be to obtain it.
If you ask the majority of the children in America today what they want to be when they grow up …they will say I want to be rich and famous.A very sad commentary to their up bringing I must say.
The socialist machine in this country was given a great gift by the likes of people such as Enron , Bernie Madoff, Pelosi Barney Frank,Rohm Emmanual, Fanny Mae , Freddie Mac, Acorn. The list goes on.
All the greed and corruption has made the Socialists work so easy .
republicans and democrats alike have sold their souls and our country to the Devil for 30 pieces of silver.
We have some major house cleaning to do in 2010 . And I hope we all get the voting records for everyone of our elected officials BEFORE we vote this next time. The voting records are free read them. and sart thinking like Americans not like party people !

      • Cordell Ferrell

Dear Penelope, I wholeheartedly concur with your message, with your permission I would like to help you distribute your message where everyone can read it. God Bless You and please continue speaking out. By all means you are certainley a PATRIOT.

      • JeffH

Soros is the supercharger to this political engine!

      • gail lightfoot

Penelope, You are correct. What We The People must do is run for office and/or only vote for the Average American with no politcal experience [working man, woman or small business owner willing to give two or six years of service before returning home] and begin to dismantle the many non enumerated powers agencies in Washington. Restore Our Republic! Only you and I can do it. Power politicans need not apply! Once I had the idea that we should ‘draft’ our representatives in Washington from the Social Security rolls [they will have worked for a living] and house them in barracks like buck privates so they would not want to return at the end of their ‘enlistment’. Some provision for wives could be made such as having them serve alongside as the second person. Think of the settled arguements. : ) I just thought of that last bit and it reminded me that who controls the remote controls everything in most homes. : )

      • http://personalliberty.com Terri Lofty

Penelope truer words have never been spoken. We truly have sold our souls and our country for power and greed.I am truly fearful that in my lifetime I will see our country turn into a socialist society. We are not far from that now. With health care reform it will not go into effect until 2013 and that is a fact. Well after Obama’s run for re-election God help us all if he wins.So politcally it is a win win 4 him. He looks like our health care savior without jepordizing a 2nd term.

Gail, what do you think of trying to get a law passed that when an offical speaks they are under oath? If the elected officals could not lie to push a political agenda, most of the citizens can deal with the truth. It would stop this constant lying on both sides.

      • JeffH

eyeswideopen…I would like to see legislation to stop the lying.
Let’s, you and I and anyone else, write to our representatives and get the ball rolling on this site.

      • eyeswideopen

Jeff, I’m going to check out how to get a free petition going for that, will let you know. Hell, they take a pledge to the Constitution, why not a pledge to us to speak only the truth, no lies, or misconstued facts or we can remove them from office after two infractions.

      • JeffH

Eyeswideopen…I’m up for it, thanks and look forward to the challenge.

      • eyeswideopen

Jeff, I found a couple of places where we can have free petitions. I’m going to just give you statemtents of what we could say. Please edit, and massage to what you think will work. It needs to be kept short as us Americans have a tendancy not to fully read anything that is long in length.LOL. The header: HOLD OFFICALS LEGALLY RESPONSIBLE WHEN THEY SPEAK. Then you have a prelim statement of the petition: When officals swear an oath to the Constitution, they should also swear an oath to speak the truth to the citizens. Then comes the body of the petition: During the recent healthcare debacle it has become apparent that we need a law for when our officals speak they are under oath. Elected officals should be held accountable for speaking the truth. An Oath would stop the lies and misconstruing of facts. When the oath to the Constitution is taken, the oath to the citizens should immediately follow. Officals are allowed two strikes, then they are automatically replaced by the opposing party’s canidate. A voluntary five person board comprised of 2Republicans, 2Democrats and a Libertarian or Independant would make the rulings. The board would be rotated every two years and only people who have never held office would be seated. HOLD YOUR OFFICALS LEGALLY RESPONSIBLE WHEN THEY SPEAK!!!!! Jeff, please fix and I will get the petitions started or I’ll get you the info and you can handle everything. Thanks.

      • JeffH

The response you get will sound something like this: “Thank you for expressing your concerns about Medicare. I welcome and will consider all comments from my constituents when making my decisions.”

“Listed below is a link to all of my offices!”

Always generic and unread by the adressee.

Like I have said before, eyes, you are so far out in “left” feild
your lost in your own confusion!

      • eyeswideopen

No, Jeff, you know why I say let’s repeal it, to prove a point, that the Repubs, want a social program just as much as the Dem’s. Let’s face it, none of us can care for our parents with medical costs so high, it would be a financial hardship for about 76% of us. It is a program that has to be reformed and people with no insurance are driving up my premiums to the point that soon I won’t be able to afford insurance for myself. I also think we need to address immigration at the same time. In defense of GB, he did try to get immigration legislation passed but his own party refused to do it, as they wanted to be re-elected. Term limits are at the top of the to do list.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

All of them in congress, in the house, and in the senate, have all free medical, and they dont pay taxes. It sucks, its wrong, but thats how it is, nothing to do with liberal or conservative, they are crooks who get a free ride on our tax paying backs. However, your liberal leaders, now want us all to pony up more, so all those that dont wont to get off their lazy arses and get a job, can have insurance convenience of the government, paid for by working stiffs like me. Sorry Pal, I dont want any of this. I work, always have, always will. I pay my premiums, my needs are met, Im good. I was raised poor, Im lower middle class now, and if I can afford it and have insurance, sorry, there isnt a reason in hell why a bleeding heart liberal cant afford it either, without me having to foot the bill for it. Im tired of all the left wing liberal hand outs. Im tired of seeing guys 10 and 20 years younger than me, living on government handouts, sitting there on the porch drinking a 40 and smoking cigarettes day in and day out, but yet they cant find a job. Now you tell me why should they? If old Uncle Sam is going to give them money and food stamps week after week, year after year, why work? Now I know it runs out, but see, these guys know just how long they can draw it, and how long they need to work to have the hours needed to draw it for a year or longer again. Its a big scam, and the democrats fully endorse it, because as they keep these guys down, these guys vote for them year after year. Its sad, that they keep these guys down and in their place, right where they want them, and yet these guys dont see it, and keep putting them into power. Unbelievable. Uneducated people, pull the Obama lever. Thats a fact.

Dave: Norm and Smilee are comrades in arms. When they step in poop together, they both deny it and blame it on you and I. Left wing liberal pacifist appeasing pants wetting blind little girlie men democrats. Havent quite learned to stand on their own yet. Need those government hand outs to get them by. Anti Americans. If they are honestly going to tell me they like what Obama has done, and what he is doing, then that would be 2 more scary people running free on the streets of this country, that need kicked out now.

        1. I’m not a left-winger and neither is Obama.
        2. I have never received a government handout in my life and I’m in my 60′s. But I’ve paid a lot of taxes. A lot of my blue state taxes have gone to the red welfare states via Washington. I haven’t seen any stampede from red states to send back farm subsities. Also there are as many rich Democrat’s as Republicans.
        3. I’ll match my bank account with yours and I don’t even know you.
        4. I’ll match my IQ with you or Glen Beck anytime, although I won’t match dollars with Beck.
        5. My medicals are in excellent shape right now.
        6. I don’t think having a loud mouth and small brain are particularly “male” traits. Your interest in my sexuality is puzzeling however.

DaveH, ultralibs need to grow a spine, and PRACTICE the slop they love to preach. Comrade obama is on a rant about the evils of profit (and those who seek it). IF it’s so important, then they are obligated to do the right thing (at least once in their sorry lives) and corner George ‘only an ultralib can be rich and moral’ Soros and throw him out of that ultralib closet.
Most people with at least 50 cents worth of common sense know this will never happen. Back in the ’60s, people in a certain state used to shake their heads about one of their favcorites. They said ‘he may be an s o b, but he’s OUR s o b. Without a doubt, Soros is definitely THEIR s o b.
However, ultralibs don’t have what it takes to do anything right. They preach all day long, but they don’t pack the gear when it comes to PRACTICING anything that comes close to integrity, morality or social responsibility. What can be said about people whose gods are power and control?

Yes medicare is being used far and wide. That is what it is for. Taxpayers have been paying into it since the sixties. We can’t afford this bill period. I would like to see every American have health care coverage, if you can’t pay for you can’t pay for end of story. We have been borrowing money from CHIIINAAA!
