Is Judge Sotomayor A Secret Right-Winger?

August 7, 2009 by

Is Judge Sotomayor A Secret Right-Winger?

Is Judge Sonia Sotomayor really a secret right-winger? Wait! Before you decide I’m a stark-raving lunatic, hear me out.

What if you knew absolutely nothing about Barack Obama’s first appointment to the United States Supreme Court except what she said during her testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee?

Just for a moment, pretend you’d never heard her remark about how “a wise Latina woman” might dispense better justice than a white male who didn’t share her “life experiences.”

Forget about any past verdicts regarding racial quotas in Connecticut or favoritism for minorities. Ignore her outspoken support of the openly racist organization, La Raza. Pretend you didn’t know President Obama said he appointed her because of her much-vaunted “empathy.”

In fact, assume for a moment you didn’t even know she was nominated for the nation’s highest court by Barack Obama.

No, the only thing I want you to consider today is what she said in her sworn testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

I submit, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, that if all you knew about Judge Sotomayor’s beliefs and likely decisions was what she told that panel of U.S. Senators, you would have to conclude that she will be one of the strictest constructionists the Supreme Court has ever seen.

Why, if you judge the judge by what she said—and remind you, ladies and gentlemen, that she swore under oath to tell the truth—she’s going to be so far to the right that Clarence Thomas could use her for shade.

Consider: The very first thing the lady did when she began her testimony was to throw the man who nominated her under the bus. Use “empathy” to decide a case? Not on your life, Senators. The most important thing to be considered—in fact, the only thing that matters—is what the law says.

What about that “wise Latina woman” comment, Judge? It was a terrible choice of words, your honorables. I regret ever saying it. Why, I don’t even believe it. It was just a “rhetorical flourish.”

You’ve got to admit; whoever vetted the lady prior to her testimony did a fantastic job. I didn’t hear her make a single misstep. Did you?

Yes, the White House handlers who prepped her and primed her and spent all those hours rehearsing her had everything down pat, including the decision to distance herself from the man who nominated her. They did a splendid job. The Democrats were so proud they were bursting their buttons. Even the Republicans found almost nothing to fault.

There is only one problem with the whole sorry charade: It was all a lie.

Let’s face it: Our first Latina nominee, the Honorable Judge Sonia Sotomayor, was carefully rehearsed not to tell the truth, but to tell the Senators (and through them the American public) a carefully calculated falsehood. In fact, a whole series of them.

As the senior Republican on the panel, Sen. Jeff Sessions of Ala., said in a USA Today op-ed piece, “Judge Sotomayor’s attempt to rebrand her previously stated judicial approach was, as one editorial page opined, ‘uncomfortably close to disingenuous.’” My, wasn’t he being diplomatic.

In other words, the lady stretched the truth so far, it almost snapped. Had anyone on the panel pushed her a little harder, who knows what we might have heard? But there were no profiles in courage on Capitol Hill that week.

So now we have the remarkable spectacle of seeing our leaders, from the President on down, praise a person whose every statement was a deliberate deception. A splendidly rehearsed deception, I’ll grant you. But a deception nonetheless.

And because she did her job so well, on Thursday she received a lifetime appointment to the highest court in our land.

The entire spectacle was a fraud. To be absolutely and totally honest about it—something Judge Sotomayor was forbidden to do—her entire testimony was carefully and cleverly planned so she would reveal nothing about what she believed or what she will do, once she’s a member of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Welcome to a world, ladies and gentlemen, where the lying liars who lead us are not only shameless about their duplicity … they are proud of it!

Shame on everyone who participated in this odious charade, from the schemers in the White House to their sycophants on Capitol Hill. Of course, none of it would be possible without the eager acquiescence of their puppets in the press.

But shame on the rest of us, too. We also remain silent, bleating contentedly as we’re fed this preposterous pabulum. Once again the sheeple are about to get sheared. And I have to say, more in sorrow than in anger, maybe we deserve it.

Until next time, keep some powder dry.

I actually think that the Sotomayor appointment might be good for all country. And same for the election of our President Obama.
I have been butting my head against the wall for most of my life trying to convince my acquaintances that our ever-growing Federal and State governments were going to eventually bring this country to it’s knees. Mostly in my younger days they thought I was a looney radical. Now, most of those same people sound more like me than I do. I gave them ideas to think about that they weren’t hearing from the mainstream media. They resisted these foreign ideas at first, but over the years thought about them and finally woke up. Mind you, I’m not saying they were original ideas of mine. I have just read a lot of alternative publications and heard political arguments that most people aren’t exposed to.
I believe that the election of the very left-wing Obama, and the eventual exposing of Sotomayor, is going to finally wake a lot of voters up to reality. So, in that respect, they may do us good.

We had an infinitely better qualified hispanic candidate nominated for the Supreme Court in 2001; Miguel Estrada. Democrats wanted to avoid giving Bush points with Hispanic voters. The Democrats hotly contested this; however, internal memos to Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin mention liberal interest groups’ desire to keep Estrada off the court because “he is Latino”. Kennedy and Schumer were also behind the Senate’s fillibuster. Now here we are 8 years later and now we have a female hispanic candidate. The same Durbin, Schumer, and Kennedy that desired to keep Estrada off the court because “he is Latino”. are now falling over each other to ensure her appointment because she is Latina. Throw the bums out of office with you vote in 2010!

I did not vote for Obama. I wrote my senators not to approve her. I don’t feel I deserve the liars governing this country. I do feel victimized by the criminals in office though. I write & ask these crooks be charged. Instead they make them treasury secretary, etc.

  • Jimmie

I live in the lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas and I believe that we are 85% hispanic here. To be honest I don’t think I can say that they are any more dishonest than what we have in Washington.. Washington forgets that they work for us…we pay their salary and someone needs to remind them of that. What’s more when you talk about the illegal aliens – remember – they are illegal, it’s my understanding that they are breaking the law. Oh, I forgot – it’s okay to break the law if Obama likes you…. you realize that Tim G and his ilk and the representatives and like are stealing our money already – every time they go out they declare it’s part of their job, yeah right – everytime they get on one of those million dollar jets because they are to fricking good to get on a commercial jet their spending our money…. We need to put Obama and all those worthless &*^#@* in Washington on that healthcare (like Ted Kennedy). Make them all take term limits and retire on Social Security just like we do….. that might help keep the pond scum home.

Judge Sonia Sotomayor was involved in a bankruptcy fraud scheme, and she lied through omission on the questionnaire to the Senate Judiciary Committee to cover it up. So says volumes of evidence presented by Judicial Discipline Reform (JDR, see http://www.judicial-discipline-reform.org).

On the record, Dr. Richard Cordero, Esq., JDR attorney, states: “Judge Sotomayor earned $3,773,824 since 1988, plus received $381,775 in loans totalling $4,155,599, plus her 1976-1987 earnings, yet disclosed assets worth only $543,903 thus leaving unaccounted for in her answers to the Senate Judiciary Committee $3,611,696, minus taxes and the cost of her reportedly modest living and likewise withheld from it the DeLano Case, which reveals her participation in a cover-up of concealment of assets as part of a judicially run and tolerated bankruptcy fraud scheme.”

Dr. Cordero has been trying to get the seventeen members of the Senate Judiciary Committee to question Judge Sonia Sotomayor on these issues:

    1. The Committee’s questionnaire
    2. Judge Sotomayor’s answers to it and her conduct
    3. The docket of the DeLano case, 06-4780-bk, CA2
    4. Statistics of the Administrative Office of the US Courts on the denial by the 2nd Circuit Judicial Council, of which Judge Sotomayor is a member, of 100% of petitions for review of dismissed judicial misconduct complaints from 10/96 thru 9/08, a 12-year period.

Such ethics violations should never exist, but there has been no coverage whatsoever by the Big Media. Given all the evidence, a grand jury would indict not only Sotomayor, but several other federal judges involved in this fraud. This is a major scandal that has gone unchecked. Integrity and honesty in our judiciary must be of the highest priority.

No one is above the law — not for politics, or to appease voting blocks of certain ethnic groups.

    Everyone,

No intent to diminish the significance of what’s happened here – but we need to look past the battle to the end game. All these skirmishes are orchestrated.

They’re nothing more than distractions from what is really going on. It’s obvious what’s up when you put aside the distractions and see through. Both sides of the aisle are working toward the same destination. Maybe some aren’t aware of it – but I’ll betcha most have a clue.

By taking personal needs and illusions out of the equation, it is possible to see very clearly what is on the drawing board. Don’t listen to what they say. Just watch what they do. Try it – you can’t miss what’s going on right under our noses.

In my opinion, Chris is asking the right questions. God help us!

Socialism, communism and the facsist system all have their roots in statism. Statist doctrine hold the State as the supreme omnipotent power that must be obeyed at all costs. Individual thought and actions that are not approved by the State are treason.

Never confuse government and statism as government was for and by the people where the Statist concept uses the guise of government good intentions to enforce the golden rule of Statism. All laws and powers enacted by the government must increase the grip of the State upon the individual.

American citizen reply, I agree with your views. If they had bothered to check out her credentials they would have found that she is a top member in La Raza, which is a very racist organization trying to give illegal aliens all of the same rights in this country that we have for now. They would have also found that more than likely she is gay. She was married in 1976 I beleive it was. I don’t have all of my information with me rightnow but can get it later if you want to know more, naming names and such. She never lived with her husband and married him at a time when she got elected to her first bench. She divorced him a short time later. When she wanted a promotion she suddenly came up with a fiance who promptly disappeared after she acheived her goal. I feel that she will handle alot of gay rights cases even giving them marriage rights. She of course will be overturning all of our immigration laws and we will be handing over the candy store( America) to foreigners. The country will no longer belong to the U.S. citizens. We need to stay vigilliant and do everything that we can to stop the government from doing what they are trying to get done (destroy America). Let’s not let them succeed. Thank-you and God bless.

  • Chris

    I have a question?????

I can see what is happening, but I want to know why. What is the end goal? What is gained by laying waste to america? What do they gain by making slaves out of us?

    And……

How do we get rid of the whole F#&^%$G bunch thats in washington and start over?
Can we shoot em? String em up? We the people?

    • http://aol Don

Chris, I get the feeling from most of the other countries in the world that there citizens feel the same way as you do about their officals. The elected officals of the world will keep their jobs by creating bogus wars. Our attention will be to fight, rather than getting honest people to represent us. It has been going on for years.

    • DaveH

      Chris,
Their goal is Power, plain and simple.
This country became the wealthiest nation on Earth, because it embraced individual freedom and limited government. We need to get back to those roots. This means voting only for those representatives that promise to roll back the size of government. Currently the two major parties are both growing the size of government ever larger.

      • DixieConnie

Isn’t that most of the problem? Voting only for those representatives that PROMISE to roll back the size of governemt? Haven’t we heard those promises before, only to have them broken over and over again? I wonder if there is a person alive that runs for Pres that will do what they say they will do. Doesn’t seem likely.

      • DaveH

        Dixie,
The only one I can remember who campained on a platform to roll back the size of government is Ronald Reagon. And in his first year he was a fireball. But of course the Democrats were all over him complaining that he was “cutting the government to the bone” (actually all he did was slow the growth of government). Then his own party members (Bob Dole in particular) started chastising him for not compromising enough. Compromise will never cut back on the size of government, it will only grow it more slowly. Anyway, Reagon finally succumbed to the pressure from his own party.
The Libertarian candidates are the only ones I hear these days promising to cut back on the size of government. But you’re right, how do we trust them to keep their word? I guess the only answer is to be vigilant and fire their raggedy butts if they don’t keep their promises. I have great hopes that the Internet will allow the common people to keep better track of their representatives than they have in the past when the only place they could get info easily was the biased major media.

      • DixieConnie

Well, then we keep plugging away at this and fire those b*****ds and get on with new one. Like, out with the old in with the new. I bet those folks are getting worried. I know I would be.

Good, then lets keep looking for the Libertarians to get us a good person to run and be Pres. Hopefully they will keep their word.

During our roots as you call them, it was power then too, not the goal of individual freedom that made slaves of some and stole everything from others, it was power and wealth then it is power and wealth now, Do not you find it interesting that this country was started by rich white men, for rich white men and low and behold as they did not have quite enough power to hold it for themselves and over time had to start sharing some power with blacks, Indians, women etc but it is still the large power structure that succeeds despite the power of all groups and it has nothing to do with individual freedom, today it is the corporate power structure that is in control and we all are suffering for that after they have caused this economy today. Why is it you think the corporations spend so terrible much money on lobbing if it was not to obtain power and wealth at our expense, we need balance and regulation and conservatives fight this tooth and nail.

      • DaveH

        Smilee,
Corporations can not force us to buy their products. Only with government as their bought and paid for bullys can they accomlish that. You liberals are playing right into their hands. The bigger and more complex the government gets, the more they can get away with aiding and abetting these big corporations. The difference between you and your ancestors Smilee, is that your ancestors were enslaved unwillingly. You are casting your freedom away voluntarily.

      • Smilee

DaveH Reply: ugust 9th, 2009 at 11:56 pm

        Dave

Corporations do not hold a gun to your head, but you quit today buying the products and services produced by corporations and you will see in a very short time that you are in fact their slaves, they have control of our government and thus control of you. They control the air waves, most of the food chain and most things you need to live a free life and you have little or nothing to say about it you definitely have need of their products. weather you want to admit it or not. They are the biggest recipients of your tax dollars, called corporate welfare. You see government got big because of corporations not because of liberals, liberals have as policy have always opposed that, however, many of the democrats in congress have become prey of them in addition the republicans and all conservative amongst them strongly support them and are the most guilty of this countries destruction (especially this past 30 years) and responsible for the slaves we have become to big corporations. The difference is liberals know this and fight for our freedoms and you conservatives are delusional with your eyes and ears closed with your head in the sand and believe in this big liberal conspiracy of them wanting to make government bigger while liberals are against the power of the corporations and for the power of the individual. You are delusional and think the corporations are your salvation when in fact they have become your masters and the government’s masters through their power over both. Liberals still want this country to be run by “We the People” and you conservatives want corporate world to be in control and to do so you have to pretend to be free and blame all our problems on those would cure them to protect your masters, usually in any slavery it is the cowards that kiss their masters butts, you seem like you would be good at that and you are delusional about government and how it is run and refuse to do anything but blame others for all our problems as you do not see your own defects and contribution to this big government/big corporations.

VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE THEM OUT OUT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just remember them when election time comes around, like 2010. Vote the ones out that think they can’t be replaced. The ones that are in there that’s been in for a while. Some are brain dead already.

Let’s face the facts; Obadma=Born a muslim, raised a muslim, educated a muslim, is a muslim. All the rest of his group and supporters and Sotomaniac are liars, cheats, crooks and thieves and will work to benefit them selves. We are veery close to complete socialism and when it is done it will be communism. The above mentioned allbelieve they will be the rich rulers. They better go back and check out what the muslims do to their own kind. We better pray to the Good Lord in heaven and hid our guns because weare going to need them just to stay alive.

I e-mailed both of my states Senators and most of its Representatives asking them to vote against Sotomayer’s approval. The only problem was several of the representatives are Democrats, and you might a well be talking to a brick wall. Democrats don’t believe they answer to anyone except the party, and those who pay them off ! I will do my damnest to see that none of them have the opportunity to ignore their constitutients again after the next election, if they allow us to have one.

    • http://aol Don

I heard that the Rep. reps are the same way. Don’t they always say no, which shows they don’t listen to all sides.

      • Ron

I agree, it seems none of them pay any attention to how their constitutients feel about legislation before them, only what is good for their re-election. The reason I out pointed out the Democratic representatives from my state is because they were the only ones who supported Sotomayer. The Republicans representatives and senators voted against her.

    • DaveH

      Ron,
Support the Libertarian Party if you want to get this country back to its roots of freedom.

A thought… would it be possible to remove her from the court when she goes back on her sworn testimony?

    • DaveH

      Steve,
I don’t think so, but I do believe it will be an eye-opener for many of the voters. I refuse to believe that we have gotten to the point where the majority of the people want liars in high positions.

  • John Q Citizen

Look on the bright side. Health care reform will likely get shoved down our throats, or up an alternate passageway; you decide. Medicare and Social Security reform a certain byproduct. As we approach our golden years, a time of reflection, a time to enjoy the years of diligence and moral rightness; we will all get kicked to the curb, die and this appointment will have had little time to influence our lives. Isn’t CHANGE what everyone wanted? Well, we got it…

    • http://aol Don

If we don’t change health, then we will become a nation that is bias towards the sick. Shoveling them to the curb, first, then us afterwards is not the answer.

      • John Q Citizen

I knew sooner or later someone would take the bait. Thanks, Don!

Health Care has nothing to do with healing. That’s not open to debate. If anyone even so much as opens debate on the subject they signify unparalleled naivety. The only change in health is what the medical profession defines as good health. Every change intended to promote drugs, tests and procedures. Each time a revised layer of responsible medicine is adopted a new avenue is opened to medical malpractice. The medical world has evolved in to a national lottery. Enormous malpractice settlements inequitably reward victims, the attorneys representing them ultimately driving the cost of health care through the roof. Patent laws and profit favor pharmaceutical companies stockholders; not the intended beneficiary. Elimination of long-term patents will foster collaboration while reducing the rush to relieve contrived ailments with drugs having greater life threatening risks than the ailment itself.

There are much better ways to address health care reform. Washington, as it has been said here numerous times already, needs to set aside their personal, financial and power interests in favor of a real solution. The problem is; the solution has to create expenditure to support money policy. Remember, the world is pegged to FIAT money.

      • http://aol Don

John, you got me. Thanks for your reply. What is FIAT? In certain ways you sound like a chiropractor, because their view on health is similar. If we do receive this “New Plan,” with no input from us, don’t you think they can change certains things when they see their mistakes or do you think everything will be written in stone or as you said, “personal, financial and power interests” will control everything? I think I answered my own question on what you will say.

      • Smilee

John Q Citizen Reply: August 7th, 2009 at 2:43 pm

YOU SAY–The only change in health is what the medical profession defines as good health

If not the the medical profession defining it, then who???? Lawyers??? Malpractice has not sent costs through the roof as you say, in fact it results in less that 2% or our countries total medical expenditures and a fraction of the 3rd payers profits to say nothing of the high cost of administration and a large part of that expense is hiring people to figure out how not to have to pay those who they insure. The medical profession by their own admission make dumb and other mistakes that result in law suits to recover the cost to their patients, at least 60% of the awards go to patients that without it would have to pay for the doctors mistakes themselves, there are some of us that still think this would not be right.

      • http://w7sav.net Steve V.

Health Care in America is broken.. It has been for a very long time… The days of a doctor dropping by your house and taking a chicken, pie or trade work for services is long gone.. What happened? Well, Ambulance chasers for one had unlimited Awards that can be made in justifiable and frivolous law suits and still has not been addressed. Second the FDA which once was the guardian for consumers has become the enforcer to Drug Companies and the AMA stopping natural remedies and cures from being advertised or sold in America.. It has stopped anyone from practicing Medicine on their own who is not a Full Fledged Doctor.. Ask any serviceman or woman who gives them the majority of their health care, it usually is a medic… In short over time we have been forced into being a captive market to a Medical Monster in the United States.. Government dictates who you can see legally for health care, what patented expensive drugs are available to you within our borders, required to pay what ever is asked for services medicines and supplies.. Currently Medical Cost is rising 4 times faster than wages…. Currently 8 out of 10 Medical Bills have errors on them in favor of the biller not the consumer… These errors would never be tolerated in any other service businesses, inflated charges, double charging, charging for services not given, or for supplies not used, or for items or services that are included in other billed areas are the normal way of serving the consumer by the American Medical establishment…. Any other business who did this would be under multiple investigations by Local, State and Federal agencies… Now for the medical insurance industry who are cutting coverage while increasing premiums while limiting access to the healthiest people… The profits of everyone in the Medical field. Doctors, Lawyers, Drug Companies the Medical Insurance Industry are all sucking the blood right out of us and Government has allowed them to for decades at an increasing rate. Socialized Medicine IS NOT THE ANSWER….. NOT, NOT, NOT.. All it does is put a different idiot bureaucrat in charge of what they will pay or not pay.. A government idiot brings along the added potential of far more reaching abuse by government.

        Now for what will work…

        1. Tort reform, limiting awards….
        2. Take the FDA out of the control of Drug Companies and the AMA.
        3. Hold Drug Companies answerable for even handed drug cost on par with that sold outside the United States.
        4. Open the door for Medical Practitioners who are trained and licensed at a lower level than a Doctor to care for minor injuries and minor illnesses. ( why hire a Electrical Engineer when all you need is a electrician)
        5. Open the US to holistic and Natural treatments and cures and licensed Holistic Healers. (80% of the world population does not depend on Western Medicine alone, we are forced to in America)
        6. Require Health Care Insurance Companies to accept all without prejudice of preconditions, age, job, race or income (see 7 ).
        7. Government can pay or partially pay insurance premiums of those who cannot afford insurance on a sliding scale that would come as a request from the insurance provider at time of consumers application..

KEEP GOVERNMENT OUT OF being both a provider and a overseer, a situation where abuse would have no bounds..

      • John Q Citizen

Hi Don. No, I’m not a member of the medical profession. I’m just an average John Q Citizen that teaches economics and finance, from time to time.

FIAT money is actually a part of a monetary system. Instead of a lecture, a good place to start, and it won’t cost a penny, would be (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_money).

It’s hard to say how long it would take or how much could be fixed once change occurs. But I do think you answered your own question. As unpredictable a Washington seems to be at times, the only predictable answers congregate around personal, financial and power interests. In my humble opinion Capitalism, to flourish, needs to balance regulation and deregulation. Where we can benefit the most would be regulating Washington.

      • http://aol Don

Thanks for your answer. I will look into FIAT.

    • DixieConnie

      Not everyone !!!!

      • John Q Citizen

Agreed, Connie…you are right, I should have said the majority wanted change. Regardless, the “not everyone” crowd has to suffer.

      • DixieConnie

John Q Citizen: I don’t think that 56% is a large majority. Yea, I know it was enough to put him in office but I still have to believe it was rigged (someway or another). But you are right, we are suffering.

There are those that think they are much better off with him in office. Time will tell and I can see the tide is changing (oh no there’s that word again, change) yikes.

      • John Q Citizen

Good Lord, DC, please don’t get me started on RIGGED. I have to believe everyone struggles with the conspiracy demons once in a while. BO’s rise from unknown to Junior Illinois Senator to President is one of those topics where I fight the demons. Nobody and I mean nobody steals a Senatorial election, spends no time fulfilling his Senatorial duties, and announces a Presidential bid and WINS! Every time I try to wrap my mind around that one I pass out…

    Dear Chip:
I usually like what you have to say. But….you are guilty of NOT doing, in this article, exactly what you say Sontomayer didn’t do in her testimony – you made NO statements of fact! Basically, your article is nothing more than your opinions.
I learned in Law School (a long time ago) that you must always back up your statements with facts! Yes, you are entitled to your opinions, but fact-finding IS essential when bringing out the truth about our “dog & pony show”, ponzi-scheming government & the International Bankers who REALLY control all of this bulls__t!!!

If you made it through law school, were you a defense attorney? That woman made more than enough verifiable statements to convict herself via her own words. The ‘jury’ (Congress) was stacked and paid off, and the verdict was ‘in the bag.’ Please tell America you were not a prosecutor, Mike.

      • http://aol Don

I disagree with you on all opinions. I feel the problem was that she was smarter than each senator. Her answers left them hesitating too long. They didn’t know what to say back to her. If you think these senators are the smartest people in the world, then you can tell where to go.

      • s c

Your opinions are definitely yours. Thanks for reminding us that most people are smarter than 99.99% of those mirror-kissing basket cases in the Senate.
Anyone who hesitated after enduring her couched remarks did so in a polite attempt not to say what they were thinking.
You see, it’s hard to be tactful in public when pimped-out politicians stoop to openly deceiving and manipulating an ethnic group to destroy America from within. So much for gravitas, libs.
Beyond that, I could never see the Senate as a source of intelligence. Why would you accuse me of looking up to such a collection of defective minds?
Why do libs fear facts? How can they live with themselves? Most lib responses I’ve seen on this web site prove that my disgust for that nation-destroying philosophy is justified.
Across America, those who haven’t been brainwashed by that dung heap philosophy are realizing that turnabout is more than a word. Finally, the light of freedom is on the horizon. Sobeit!

    • http://aol Don

Mike, I agree with you, but I wll take it a step farther. From his last sentence, it sounds like his answer is to kill everyone that doesn’t agree with him? Mankind has been trying that for centuries. Also, it sounds like the KKK philosophy, but I know I will now receive a lot of hate back from this statement, because most people agree with Chip and there is about a 1% chance that he will reply.

  • http://BobLivingston Susan

Unfortunately, even when we are not silent, it makes no difference. We have to face it. Nearly everyone that has anything to do with the White House, from our Senators, Representatives, all the way up to the Presidency are for themselves. Nearly everything we see now is staged for the public to make it look as if the government is still running right on schedule. NO~ It is no longer by the people and for the people. That day has passed.

    • DixieConnie

Susan: I know it seems very dark, however, go look at this http//www.rsc.price.house.gov. Maybe this will give you some hope. Rep. Tom Price of Georgia, also Senator John Cornyn of Texas, they seem to be on our side along with several others. We just don’t hear about them as much as we hear about the Dems &Libs.

    • DaveH

      Susan,
I wrote to my Democrat representative asking her to vote against Cap and Trade (in the House of Representatives) and she did. I’m not saying my letter made the difference, but apparently she got many similar requests, as she was one of a very small minority of Democrats who voted against that bill in the House.

  • ONTIME

There was more than enough information about Sotomayors involment with activist groups such as La raza, her written justification of her own actions for the court and there was her constant exposure of her veracity and the contradictions of her own inconsistent utterances about her beliefs for anyone to say, this woman has no loyalty to any segment of her own justification. This is why the empathy statement was so widely important and if it’s empathy you want then I would advise a country like Cuba would be more accomodating to rule by man.

We are stuck with her now, so far there may be change with no effect but that is endangerd also.

  • http://w7sav.net Steve V.

Judge Sonia Sotomayor’s hearings and all the trappings was just a rubber stamp pre-decided forgone fact of her acceptance to the Supreme Court…

The power being raked in by the Executive and Legislative branches at tax payer expense is alarming.. We have about 40 Czars appointed who have control over major areas of our lives and are not funded nor overseen by Congress . We now have another liberal Judge on the Supreme Court to run interference for the other two branches of government as this liberal controled government pushes ever closer to their goals… The Constitution has been used as ‘Toilet Paper’ for decades by both parties… It is only quoted when it serves to push party goals.. Otherwise it is ignored or changed to fit those goals.. The GOP is dead, it has lost all creditability, it has more turncoats than Saddam Hussein had during the first Gulf war… The Democrat Party that once championed the working class has become ileitis who stab the workers in the back at every chance to gain control over them…

The only thing to save this nation will be a return to a Constitutional Government.. We need a party that recognizes this and will work toward that goal and what is best for America over party politics..

    • http://aol Don

I like what you said about both parties. I even had to look up ileitus in the dictionary. Your last paragragh will take some time. Steve what is your perspective, if I might ask, about the time when the supreme court voted on Gore and Bush. The 5 justices that were nominated by republicans voted for Bush and the 4 justices that were nominated by democrats voted for Gore. Do you think this is “Justice at it’s best?” Don’t get into the correct person won or lost, but rather than procedure. Also, do you feel that presidents should pick the person for the supreme, and the congress votes for him/her?

      • http://w7sav.net Steve V.

Thanks for your response and the “ileitus” bowel problem was a typing error.. I was looking for the word meaning high society, power brokers types..
I think the Supreme Court should have term limits being one of the three branches of Government that does not have it… I believe they should be chosen by the people during a Presidential election… Just like the other two branches of government. I hate this because it does require a Constitutional amendment. And I HATE changing the Constitution.. I believe all Supreme Court hearings should be televised on its own network paid for by taxpayers to let us view the workings and arguments being presented…

      • American Citizen

The decision was the correct one telling Gore’s team they had to abide by Florida’s election laws.

      • Smilee

Isn’t it interesting that the Florida supreme court ruled that Gore’s team had and then the supreme court intervened and overturned the state, isn’t it interesting that the conservatives who so strongly support state’s rights on this one were so happy not to.

    • DaveH

      Steve,
There is such a party, the Libertarian Party.

      • PatM

        Yep!

      • http://w7sav.net Steve V.

Yes, as an Independent, I have been looking also at the Constitution Party..

      • DaveH

        Steve,
Please read my post reply to Don’s reply to you. He is wrong about his Libertarian statements.

      • http://aol Don

Steve, Bill Maher is a Libertarian. He said the main difference between a Libertarian and a Republican is their view on drugs. Libertarians, accordingly to Bill, feels the government should control the drugs rather than the “gangs’ of the world, but this is not an issue right now, so the next president can open up this can of worms. The people from Calf. will have the greater voice on this because this is their number one crop.

      • DaveH

        Don,
Are you like the master of misinformation or what? Yes, Bill Maher has stated that he is Libertarian, but his views are mostly not Libertarian at all. He makes me sick. Don’t know what his angle is for calling himself a Libertarian (maybe purposeful slander). Read the party platform on http://www.libertarianparty.org (pick the Our Party tab then platform from the drop-down list).
Libertarians (the real ones) don’t think the government should be involved in protecting us from ourselves. So, this includes drugs. This may sound scary, but it really isn’t because people are going to do the drugs whether or not the government is involved. Maybe even more so, as for many drug-users the illegality is part of the thrill. Mostly the problem with the drug wars, though, is that we are enriching the worst segment of society (the drug lords) due to the wildly increased street price resulting from the illegality of the drugs. So, we have a situation very much like during the prohibition days when the Mafia came to prominence. For those of you who say “OMG, everyone will become a drug junkee”, I ask, “are you going to become a junkee?”. Alcohol is legal, are we all alcoholics?
Bill Maher is an idiot. Go to the Libertarian Party website and see for yourself what they stand for.

      • http://aol Don

Dave, how am i a master of misinformation. He did call himself a Libertarian – how is this wrong? I never said he is a true Libertarian. How is this wrong? I quoted something he said – how is this wrong. I never said I agree with him – how is this wrong? I just gave his point of view. There is nothing wrong hearing what other people have said even though he might be a low life. I have learned from ignorant people, too. When I watched drunk people, I have learned something. I tell myself that I never want to lower myself like that. I learned something. Slow down your judgement.

      • DaveH

        Don,
OK, maybe you had no ill intentions. But it is a tactic of controlling people to spread misinformantion on a concept to mislead or divert potential followers of that concept.
A good example is when the Clinton administration sent economic advisors over to Russia who convinced the Russians that our brand of socialism was free enterprise. It works here only because we have tremendous assets built up from past times when we were close to free enterprise. Russia didn’t have that cushion of assets (and other conditions too lengthy to discuss in a short response), so it failed for them. As a result, most Russians thought free enterprise sucked when in fact they had never really experienced free enterprise. The Czechs (ignoring the advice of the Clinton advisors) adopted a form of economics that was much closer to free enterprise and they did great.
Anyway, if you had no such ill intentions, I apologize for jumping on you.

      • http://aol Don

Dave, a German professor told me, the Russian idea of democracy is when the majority votes to have an ethinicity eliminated, then that is the law and that group must be must extinguish. No one told them about a constitution and the branches of government.
One fact that most people don’t mention about the demise of Russia is vodka. They still start as a young teen consuming it.

The problem is, those in Congress pay no attention to “us”. I want to know the names of those who voted for her and those who didn’t. Unfortunately, I read this morning that both of our state’s Senators voted for her. You can bet I’ll work against them come the next election.

      • s c

A C, you can bet that the scum who voted for that woman sold themselves, and they also mysteriously found ‘reasons’ to support b o’s health care ‘reform’ scam. These puking weasels are on ‘summer recess.’ NOW is the time to let them know that their days in Washington are numbered. It’s also a great time to create legislation that will deny career politicians a plush retirement and high odds that they will be millionaires when they retire. Isn’t it high time for these worthless lower-life forms to sacrifice for America? Why do we let this insanity continue?

      • Clayton Sibley

I agree about our 2 senators. Democrats desgized as Republicans!!!!! And to think I helped campaign for one of them when she first got elected. I am ashamed to tell of it!!! I will be with you working against them.

      • DixieConnie

Thank God 2 Senators from Texas voted against her. Yea for them.

      • http://aol Don

For 8 years they didn’t listen to me either. I voted for change and now they do listen to me. I’m sure you will get your way in the near future. People in general do not like politicans. Look at the recent pattern. We get sick of our current leader no matter who it is. I got sick of gB after the first day if not sooner, and I’m sure you feel the same way, now, but will express it differently than “sick of.”

      • DixieConnie

Don: there is such a difference between being sick of and being SCARED. I believe there are alot of people that are scared to death of what is happening. I don’t think we are suppose to be afraid of our President.

  • Brant Robinette

I like the title and how the first few paragraphs are about how these deceivers at least SHOULD try to act if they had any personal resolve and integrity, instead of cowering behind lies and rehearsed trickery. They wouldn’t have a leg to stand on either way, but at least if they had tried to make us be ok with their pick for Sotomayor by telling us to just forget that we ever heard the things she’s said and done (which make her who she is, mind you) then they could do so with some strange sense of still retaining respect for themselves.

It’s quite apparent to anyone who gives a half-seconds moment to try to think about what they’ve seen from the progressives rule in this country for the last year or more what the real truth is. Unfortunately, more than 60% of the population could care less about how the country is ran, who is in office, or future plans so this truth escapes the majority. The biggest flaw of liberty is that opponents of liberty have found that they do not particularly need members of their movement to promote and advance it, they simply need inactive members of society. So for every one citizen fighting and voicing for liberty and freedom there are at least ten others who could care less about anything political (and in turn are actually promoting the side of oppression without knowing it). And rational, logical voices does not have the power to counter-balance this. Those who will do liberty harm know this, and they will use this to further their agenda. Any OTHER action that could counter-balance this is far more violent, and those who would do liberty harm also know this and will plan to use their same actions against the whole of society that still values liberty and freedom.

So…when was it ok to nominate criminals, liars, and cheaters? As far as I’m concerned, our so called leaders…aka dictators, don’t care about the Constitution. They use the term to appease but blatantly reject it. They think they deserve power when they don’t, and they use evil to get it. Thankfully they aren’t the ultimate judge, as Jesus is King over all, if they like it or not. And if you disagree with me, that is your choice and your right. It doesn’t change it though.

    • http://google Virgil

You are absolutely right! The lie that minorities were prevented from being citizens was the Constitutions fault is totally a lie. It gave the rights and insisted on them. The Communists and Atheist are promoting that lie. It was the Supreme Court that refused African Americans citizenship! They ruled, after Abe Lincoln, a Republican, that Africans were not persons and therefore could not become citizens. We look at what these judges believed and find they were the first of the major Liberals! Now we see that Congress and the Senate, occupied by a majority of Liberals, will tell you what is morally right or wrong and support one group over another group and tell you if this is not done with citizens support, that we are into hate crime? Does any white; Asian; American Indian; or any of our citizens not want equal rights for all? Sure we do. But that is not what the Liberal want.. and we can tell by what bills they support and vote on. Virgil

      • Smilee

Virgil Reply: August 7th, 2009 at 5:03 pm

Go back and read the original constitution before the first ten amendments were added, the original ratification of the constitution in 1787 and you will see that it was your founding fathers who refused the African Americans citizenship and legally made them slaves under the constitution , even made it constitutional to still import them as slaves until 1808. The supreme court interpreted it as it was written, so after Lincoln that is why the constitution was amended to give them citizenship. You people that scream and holler about the Constitution not being followed have no idea what it is and misquote in constantly just as the lies you have in your post here. Judges do not make the law only interpret it, but conservatives want judges to be activists and rule the way they want not as the constitution says and your ignorance and biases convicts you of that here.

  • http://kibitzer-truthseeker.blogspot.com Stan

Thanks for this, Chip. I must say, you got my attention with your title of the article…

Unfortunately, it’s all not funny, McGee. We have somehow descended into game-playing in the country. Conservatives – true conservatives – and constructionists try to hold the line on the proper use of the word ‘interpretation’ regarding the Constitution – ie, with ‘original intent’ to the fore; or else it is all so blatantly a relativistic political game that we should all go home, and declare the rule of law dead in the country – and liberals have introduced the concept of ‘a living document’ into the picture; the contract to be tweaked from the pov of personal socio-political proclivities. It’s a charade, that we all seem to buy into. Well; not all. But as Chip says, the sheeple are about to be sheared again. And the Republicans in the guvmint don’t have the intestinal fortitude to mount a response worth a warm bucket of spit.

Where are the right-side voices like the one raised by Ted Kennedy against the nomination of Judge Bork, he who knew whereof he spoke regarding constitutional issues? Sidelined. Why? Because of fear of coming out against a wise Latina woman, and hence laying themselves out vulnerably to be smeared, and thus not returned to the gravy train??

It’s a disgrace. Judge Sotomayor gave herself away when she slipped up and got caught on video saying, honestly from her liberal pov, to a roomful of legal types, that the appellate court “is where policy is made”. (‘Oh-oh. You may live to regret that slip, Sonia.’ ‘No, not really. It’s all a matter of who controls the processes at the time. She knows that. We know that. It’s all just part of the game.’) Her nomination should have been ditched into the ground right then and there. Instead, both sides are playing the game, that the Constitution is just a damn piece of paper, existing merely to be gotten around, by hook or by crook.

    We will rue this day.

    • http://aol Don

During her testimony, do you know what her answer was for “where policy is made?”

      • http://kibitzer-truthseeker.blogspot.com Stan

        No. What was it?

      • http://aol Don

She said something to the effect that it was a dumb girl wise crack. It was meant to be funny. Kind of like when my wife teases me about woman being superior to men. The conservatives used this humorous statement, took it seriously, and ran with it, saying she will make law and not use the constitution as law. I will give her the benefit of doubt, by I know conservatives will not, except for Graham and the few republicans that voted for her.

      • http://kibitzer-truthseeker.blogspot.com Stan

        Don,

Thanks for your reply and its info. You may be right. But considering the picture as a whole, all I can think of to say right now is: Well, she would say that, wouldn’t she?

        Anyway: Let’s see.

      • DaveH

        Stan,
Did you see the video of that statement? She definitely was not making a “dumb girl wise crack”. She did realize as soon as she said it that she was not making a correct statement and made comments to try and wiggle out of it. Gee, she wouldn’t lie to the Senate would she? Lawyers are always honest! Sure.

She lied one way or another as she blatantly contridicted herself time and time again. What a shame that Congress takes more interest in baseball players lying about steroids than a Supreme Court nomonee lying about her beliefs. The GOP is getting blamed as racist because they voted against a Latino. The GOP is not again minorities, but values. Propogating the extreme left wing immorality on our nation’s highest court, bringing in preconceived biases against any race to render a decision, or to have empathy for a criminal because of his/her problematic background is a disgrace to the laws of our land. Lady Justice is blind, only looks at the facts of the case presented to her. Truly not much change as a liberal replaces a liberal. Only this liberal is more blatant when she is not under oath. It should be an interesting life appointment to observe. It is to late to rescue the mistake as she is above the law now. As to the person who nominated her, where was he born?

Our Congress regardless of which house and which party are completely nauseous and lack the necessary Backbone to stand up and say “NO” to B.O. and all of his lackey lapdogs. I don’t know if those 100 Senators did any research on her. They should have known she was coached. The fact that she was reversed in 60% of her decisions should have been a warning that she is unfit to sit on the Supreme Court. I don’t care what nationality she is, or her color, religion, or gender. It’s her beliefs when it come to the law that matter. I don’t recall that she mentioned she would look at the Constitution. Isn’t that the main purpose of the Supremes, to see if what is brought before them is Constitutional, even the law itself? We are bit by bit losing our Constitution and it’s the bleeding-heart Liberals who are ripping it to shreds.

      • http://aol Don

When has the supreme court ever used the constitution as a guide?

      • s c

There is no other way to say this. READ A GOOD HISTORY BOOK. During FDR’s reign, when the Supreme Court had a backbone and a moral compass, they put that old so-and-so in his place. They told him in no uncertain terms that what he was trying to pull was UNCONSTITUTIONAL. B O wants to be FDR II.
Look it up. Now, we have charlatans who use want to ‘engineer’ America. They are a disgrace to the legal profession. The only thing that held FDR back from having total control over America was his reluctance to align himself with those stinking progressives. Even he knew that too much crap is too much crap.
If we had a functional Supreme Court and a handful of practicing, functional lawyers, b o would find himself to be in the same ‘uncomfortable,’ humiliating position as FDR. God help us, as this Supreme Court is on its way to becoming a fickle, limp-wristed collection of brown-nosing, fence-sitting puppets.

      • KS Ruff

        Folks,
If you haven’t already done so, you can get involved and the movement that is happening to force the Gov to adhere to the consititution or be removed. The Constitution provides for this. Go to and learn about the things that people all around you are doing. Get involved by becoming a nominee to the Continental Congress 2009 or nominating someone you know. There is even a free tri-fold brochure you can download and print that you can give people.

Also, be sure to join a group of The 9 12 Project by signing up for There are groups in every state. Groups are planning events. A major event coming up is the September 12 march on Washington, but believe me, it won’t end there. We will take back our country from the evil that has invaded us or die trying.

The longest journey begins with the single step. Unfortunately for us, that concept works in a negative as well as a possitive way. We have been allowing the government to rob us of our freedoms in the name of policy for generations. Each time they made some new rule about what we could or couldn’t do, could or couldn’t say, they took a little more freedom, and we got used to it and looked the other way. But every step brought them closer to our very homes, and now they are literally on our front steps. Every house in the country is getting GPSd (it has already happened in our area), and the information is being sent to the UN. WHY? We are surrounded by an evil so pervasive and invasive and yet subtle, that the complete loss of ALL our freedom may be only a few months away if Americans don’t wake up and act.

And pray. The book that served as a guiding principle to our founding fathers says “if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 At the time the prophet of old said these words, the people of Israel were suffering terrible persecution and slavery at the hands of a conqueror. It’s not too late for us.

I am a member of the 9.12 coalition and a member of We the People Foundation. I am also looking for people who want to be a part of a nationwide prayer chain for the purpose of having people praying around the clock for those who are working to turn this country around and for the few Congressmen who would actually do the right thing if given a chance…such a McCain, Jim DeMint, Ron Paul and more. We can yet turn this country around, but the evil around us is greater than we are in spite of our numbers which are growing daily. We cannot do it without turning to God first. Denomination and Party do not matter. What does matter is that you believe that a higher power than all of us is still on the throne, and that he is capable of saving this great country if we will only turn to him, take action wherever possible, and learn from the mistakes of the past.

Forgive the length of this “comment.” I can’t help but be passionate about this. I am a “military mom,” with a family history of military service and my heart is breaking over what is happening to this great land that so many died to preserve.

      • American Citizen

I, too, am a military mom as we have a son who served as well as my husband did. I am very frightened by the ignorance I see, not only by some posters here, but in the population in general. The liberals think because you are conservative you are ignorant. To them, facts don’t matter, it’s feeling that they operate their lives upon. That’s why this country is in such trouble as the road to hell is paved with good intentions instead of common sense.

      • Greg Craig

Dear military mom. thank you. Never be apologetic for saying what is in your heart. I am a former Marine you fought against communism in Viet Nam. People forget so easily. I pray for a peaceful resolution but stand steadfastly prepared for the alternative solution. Pitbullusmc

        Runninbear,
It doesn’t surprise me a bit that the Senators didn’t ask many tough questions. Also, one would think that the Republicans would return the favor by using the same filibuster tactics that the Democrats used on Republican Supreme Court nominees. The fact is that the Senators with rare exception have enjoyed their jobs for too long and we who love freedom need to vote the rascals out of office.

      • BH

Republicans could not filibuster. Democrats have the 60 votes necessary to end debate.

      • DaveH

        BH,
Thank you. I didn’t realize that there are that many Democrats in the Senate. So I went to the senate web page and counted them.

Obama says he can see a light at the end of the tunnel. Is he sure it isn’t a freight train?

Liz, most adults see this woman for who she is. Our ‘leaders’ were told they will be ‘rewarded’ for their votes. That means they don’t represent us. They are there to take care of themselves. These pukes have 17 different insurance options [they want us to have one].
Any lib who considered ‘defecting’ was told they can forget about the next election. They were told if they have any plans for getting on key committees, they’d better support this woman. This is how Washington is defined (be prepared to sell your ^** on the spur of the moment). Some call it integrity. Most recognize it as a form of treason.
Let me make this crystal clear, Liz. Any American who thinks a Washington politician deserves to be re-elected is guilty of the same stupidity that made it possible for b o to get into the White House. Why make it easy for these two-legged skunks? When we suffer from lack of leadership, it’s because we have no standards for those who control our lives.

S C what else could you expect from the idiots that we got running the country? I just hope people remember this when election time comes around, and we VOTE all these idiots out who think they can’t be replaced. When we vote in the people for the people, then we can get O-BAM-BAM OBAMA impeached from the presidency. He’s not even an American. He won’t even show the people his Birth Certificate. At least not yet. He’s probably trying to come up with one to show. I say it’s to late to show it now, he needs to be thrown out of the White House now. This SotoMoto has lied from day one. Saying all the things that O-BAM-BAM OBAMA wanted her to say. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH AND I HAVE HAD ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, it didn’t realize this site was set up to eliminate links to any other web site in the message, so a couple lines above don’t make sense. You want to go to we the people foundation (dot) org –typed without the spaces, and to www. The National 912 Coalition (dot) net. Of course, also leave out the parentheses and use a dot instead of the word “dot.”

I too am sick and tired if this policital crap that is being spewed on the American people!! What is pissing me off even more is that the “left-wing liberal media” is getting a free ride. Nobody is holding them accountable! We need to get out there next year and vote these theives out of office and then turn our attention to the media and start to hold their noses to the fire.

A good friend of mine in Canada sent this ‘fair and balanced’ article. I read it as well as the responses. As soon as I got to someone who based their opinion on FOX bullshit, I stopped reading.

I am 71, female, white, divorced and able to discover for MYSELF by READING THE ORIGINALS what ever it may be. To regurgitate anything or anyone other than yourself is a waste of time.

Palin’s ‘death panel’ remarks is so utterly stupid and untrue I am ashamed to have her as a citizen of the USA.

Read page 16 of the budget YOURSELF.

Do you think Chip Wood would like to kill her when he says keep the powder dry?

      • Rich

Keep the powder dry is referring to the violence that is coming. There are going to be race riots. Things are going to go bad!. Buy your canned goods and hide them. Buy your guns and ammo while you can becasue the government will try and take your rights away.

        Brace yoursself, trouble is coming!!!

As we seem to continue in the no God and no real Constitution idiology we see that our Nation, by financial facts is caught in a trap. If we want to bail out and make it look good, we need to borrow more and more against the dollar and print more! The solution is not to bail out and pay off the heads of cooperations that fail.. sure, we can give to the cooperation to get them viable, but to payoff those that lead them into this mess? What the heck is going on. Should I be rewarded for leading any company into dismay? Is this how Obama got elected and other Democrats, to give away tax money to those that were poor leaders of companies? We do not hear any big objections from the Senate or House if Democrat.. Another payoff? I will make a prediction. All we need is a few big money taking occurences that happen in America and we will surely be bankrupt. It is predicted in the Bible and this is why the endtimes prophecy does not mention America again, except that England and the U.S. will have bread selling for about 33 bucks a loaf, U.S.! World History is not taught as it was because of what one says is hate! We do not see Greece collapsing because of anything goes sex by law! We do not see this with Rome and what happened there. But it did! Any Nation that supports anything goes sex, and specifically made laws supporting alternate lifestyles were destroyed by an enemy! That is real World History before we could not present the facts as it may be considered a hate crime.

      • http://aol Don

33 bucks a loaf? Did the Bible say if the loaf would be sliced, whole, wheat, or white. Probably, white. Usually wheat is more expensive, so when wheat hits 33, I know to sell and pack up and go to Mount Carmel where He (the Second Coming) said he would pitch his tent. See you there. lol

    • Joe Nonnemaker

Again no one was listening or remembering anything that is said by our so called leaders!!

sc, do you think bush’s secret police is or should be constitutional? Do you think Obama will have his secret police or maybe you feel he already has them?
