They Stole That Election Fair And Square

They Stole That Election Fair And Square

One of the dirtiest campaigns ever conducted for the U.S. Senate is finally over. And to the dismay of anyone who cares about decency and decorum in “the world’s most exclusive club,” the chief mud-thrower has been declared the victor.

Shame on the 1.4 million celebrity-stricken Minnesotans who voted for a mean-spirited, hate-filled, dishonest demagogue named Al Franken. Shame on the courts and an incredibly biased Secretary of State who tortured and twisted a so-called “recount” until they made sure Franken had enough votes to win. And shame on the Republicans in Minnesota for allowing the election to be stolen from them.

When this campaign began, Norm Coleman, the Republican incumbent, was expected to win handily. No one gave Al Franken much of a chance. After all, this is the former Saturday Night Live performer whose major contributions to our culture have been sketches like “Planet of the Enormous Hooters” and books such as Rush Limbaugh Is A Big Fat Liar. (Same to you, buddy.)

But that was before the economy imploded and the Obama bandwagon began to soar. Franken was incredibly well-funded by the left, so he was able to afford a ton of TV and print commercials. The result was some of the most blatantly dishonest advertisements his advisers could devise. Franken flat-out lied about Coleman’s voting record. He even accused his opponent of being “the fourth most corrupt senator in Congress.”

The leftwing activist group ACORN was busy, registering every warm body they could find. They were aided by Minnesota’s absurd same-day registration law. In Minnesota, election officials trust but don’t verify. How many illegal immigrants, felons, non-residents and other ineligibles did ACORN manage to get to the polls? We’ll never know. But you can bet it was a whole lot more than Al Franken’s razor-thin margin of victory.

When the original vote tally was announced it appeared that Coleman had won by 725 votes. The results were so close that a recount was inevitable. And that’s when the Franken forces really went to work to rig the results.

They brought in the same team that had found enough votes in the 2004 race for governor in Washington State to hand the election to Christine Gregorie. They were aided in Minnesota by Secretary of State Mark Ritchie, a Democrat Party official and ACORN activist who got away with approving recount totals that favored Franken—but accepted the original tally in other cases, all of which just happened also to favor Franken.

By the time the recount ended Franken had gained 436 votes from “corrections” in just three heavily Democrat precincts. That, combined with votes that were removed from the Coleman side in other precincts, was enough to tip the election in Franken’s favor. Coleman appealed the results to the Minnesota Supreme Court, which ruled on June 30 that Franken had won the election by 312 votes. A few days later the gloating and gleeful ex-comedian took his seat as the 60th Democrat in the U.S. Senate. That brings the party of Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama to a filibuster-proof majority. Not a pretty thought, is it?

But before you tear out your hair and fall to the floor sobbing, “That’s it. It’s all over. Nothing can save our poor Republic now,” hold on a moment. I do see a few rays of sunshine in this otherwise bleak assessment.

First, I don’t believe that Al Franken will be an asset for the Democrats. Instead, I think he will turn out to be a huge liability. The man has absolutely no class. He’s a mean-spirited guttersnipe who will find it impossible to keep his big mouth shut, or to resist the temptation to spout extremist views that are way to the left of most Americans.

As Connie Hair observed in Human Events, “Unless the powers that be in the Senate can put a big, fat muzzle on his mouth, Al Franken’s brand of politics and caustic deportment would make him the poster child for everything that’s wrong in America in 2010. The Senate’s own Rosie O’Donnell.”

Right. And what are the chances that this egotistical grandstander will allow himself to be muzzled? Or even agree that, for the good of his party, he should sit down and shut up for a while? I put them pretty close to zero.

Barack Obama may be the smoothest fraud we’ve seen in many a year. But take it from me; Al Franken is the complete opposite. The junior senator from Minnesota may just prove to be the most attractive target conservatives have had in years. Sort of a real-life tar baby, where every accusation sticks.

So please, Al, get on that soap box every chance you get. I can’t wait to see how far down your throat you can shove your foot. In fact, I’ll even help push.

They Haven’t Stolen This One… Yet
While the bad guys were celebrating their victory in Minnesota, several thousand miles to the south the good guys (and gals) won at least a temporary victory in Honduras.

Unfortunately, rather than cheer the sensible (and completely legal) actions of responsible Hondurans, our President has chosen to side with Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez and demand that the so-called “coup” be reversed.

In case you didn’t follow the story, here’s a quick recap. The Honduran constitution forbids a president succeed himself. The then-president, Manuel Zelaya, inspired by Venezuela’s Marxist boss, Hugo Chavez, decided to change the rules. He asked the Honduran Congress to amend the constitution to permit him to run again. The Congress, which was fed up with all of his unconstitutional shenanigans, said “absolutely not.”

So Zelaya vowed to go “to the people.” He said he would hold an illegal referendum. When the courts wouldn’t sanction his scheme, his buddy Chavez had a bunch of ballots printed in Venezuela and smuggled into Honduras.

When the military got wind of this, they seized the ballots. That’s when Zelaya said he would lead a mob to the military base where they were stored and have them distributed.

With that, responsible Hondurans said “enough.” Well, actually, they said “basta” and a lot of more colorful words. The Honduran Supreme Court ordered the military to arrest Zelaya. The Honduran Congress voted to support the action. So two weeks ago, Honduran soldiers marched into the presidential palace, seized Zelaya, and put him on a plane to Costa Rica.

This very reasonable and even humane action (most would-be dictators kill their opponents) sent the left into absolute conniption fits. The United Nations voted unanimously to condemn the action. Here’s an important principle, folks. When a majority of the members of the United Nations favors something, you can bet your bottom dollar that it’s bad for freedom.

As I write these words, Hondurans are refusing to buckle under to all the international pressure—even that coming from Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

Roberto Micheletti, the speaker of the Honduran congress, was named as caretaker president to serve out Zelaya’s term. Micheletti declared, “We have established a democratic government, and we will not cede to pressure from anyone. We are a sovereign country.”

When Zelaya tried to return to the country, Micheletti ordered the airport closed. Zelaya’s plane was not allowed to land. Time will tell if Micheletti and his brave and determined allies in Honduras will succeed.

A handful of Americans have come to their defense. Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC), a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, issued a statement saying, “The rule of law is working in Honduras. President Obama should not undermine the democratic institutions that guarantee freedom by forcing an illegitimate president back into power…. The United States should support the Honduran people and their legitimate leaders in their brave and heroic stand for freedom and the rule of law.” To which I offer a hearty “amen.”

If you haven’t already done so (and if by the time you read this Hondurans are still clinging to their freedom), please ask your senators and representatives to support them. It’s time we helped the good guys win one.

Until next time, keep some powder dry.

Minnesota gave us Jesse (who stated recently on a news program the Rosie O’s conspiracy theory about the World Trade Center) now Al…Ugh!!…. I don’t see how Minnesota can be taken seriously. Wake up Minnesota! Shame on you. I am starting to agree with the liberals on one point only ….it may be time to leave…problem…where? I don’t think the rule of law or the constitution means squat anymore.
Oh yea did I tell I lost my job yesterday after 14 years with the same company that probably won’t survive. I’m serious. I don’t believe it’s George Bush’s fault either. I do believe many more Americans are going to lose their jobs as well. Oh, boy there are consequences for elections and the idiots are running things now…like Al. It bites! Hope it’s not too late to really make “Change” that will save our country in 2012. I think these people will be most disliked in a very short amount of time. You can only blame the past people for so long and spin the bad news for so long. I think the day of reckoning is coming and Americans will rise up maybe if they are not totally bought off and despondent. I think politicians all are gutless wonders. Shame on Obama for not standing up for the rule of law in Honduras, but then again what did you really expect him to stand up for that? He is our worst nightmare but he is smooth. Mostly he’s just a Saul Alinsky Baby and a lawyer to boot. Obama’s ethnic origin doesn’t matter to me and I am sure he believes in what he doing. What matters is how he does the job and right now he is blowing it big time. It is what is. We shall see.

  • Mike Bravo

How and why would ACORN get 5 billion dollars? How much kicks back to Obama? And having the census under the white house would be a conflict of interest. There is no benefit unless you are trying to rig something. He reminds me of a dictator and hasn’t done anything worthwhile yet.

    • bruce

      Mike,

Check it out. The federal spending bill most recently passed does provide money for Acorn. Also, yes, check with your congressman, everyone, and let them know that you are opposed to the US Census falling under the oversight of the White House. THIS WOULD BE FOR ESTABLISHING NEW FIGURES FOR USE IN DRAWING CONGRESSIONAL DISTICTING LINES. THEY WILL BECOME UNDEFEATABLE IN ELECTIONS. Oh, no! say the Democrats, it’s for a good utopian reason that Obama will tell us later!
PLEASE TELL PEOPLE YOU KNOW TO WAKE UP TO THIS POWER GRAB OF ELECTIONS, THE TREASURY OF THE US, AND PRIVATE BANKS, AUTO MAKERS AND MEDICAL CARE (1/6 of our economy). We must fight to keep our freedoms.

I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than those attending too small a degree of it.

Just another “Left-Wing” Power grab! They have such a remarkable way of putting things to ease our concerns. I, for one, am SICK and tired of the POLITICAL raping and pilaging being done by the Democrats! The ‘sneaking in through the backdoor’ kind of mentality! Let Americans READ and debate these LIFE-ALTERING changes to our Country! What is the harm in that? If you liberal Democrats REALLY want to do what is best for this Country…then why must you push everything through the House & Sentate without the possibility of scrutiny? I’ll tell you why. It is because of GREED! I still have not seen ONE liberal give up any comforts to help GLOBAL WARMING! Yet they expect us to! You foolish, ignorant, people! You are going to be paying the same exhorbatant Electric and Gas bills as the rest of us…Your food prices are going to go higher too…! Many of you own small businesses which are going to be forced out of business because of CAP & TRADE. It is vicious circle. If business fails…people get laid off…homes can’t be paid for…the price of homes come down due to forclosure and vacancy…the Country goes into bankruptcy…WE NOW SPEAK MANDARIN CHINESE!
Is it really smarter to save a fish in Nancy Pelosi’s District (which is serving no purpose because of it’s location), than it is to send water to the farmers who produce 60% of this Country’ s Food? What are you thinking? Use some common Sense! This has nothing to do with POLITICS…It has to do with what is best for this Country & the survival of MANKIND…which to me, is of far greater importance, than a Fish!

The democrats are a bunch of crooked rich bastards, and that is all they are. I cant believe you so called poor people vote for these rich white bastards. Yeah, I know Obama is half black, but they threw him in this time to make themselves look better to you. Besides, to them, he is half white. But they are the rich guys, and I cant believe you dont know it.

Gee, who’s radio show has lasted the longest? I’m sorry, what radio show Al??????

    • Norm

Just goes to show you the intellegence of a “DittoHead”. Yes master Rush.
The truth is that I listen to Rush quite often. He’s a good enternainer.

      • Wally

And this is why Stewert Smolies radio show lasted but moments! Nobody lisened, not even the libs.

      • http://donthaveone Mark

You spelled entertainer wrong, but thats ok. I was just hoping that if you listen to Rush long enough, maybe, just maybe, some truth would rub off on you. Or are you afraid of it? Try it once, youll like it.

      • Norm

        Mark
Rush and truth in the same sentence is an oxymoron.

      • http://donthaveone Mark

To Norm. Sorry, thats your opinion. Ive never caught him in a lie, like your lefty buddies Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, Tom Daschle, Barbara Boxer, Barney Frank and pretty much the rest of the lying lefties. You choose to believe them, not me.

      • Average Joe

Although I am registered as a republican, I cannot in all fairness…tow the party line. I vote on the moral character of someone by looking at what they have done in the past. Most of the pople in DC couldn’t get my vote…. dem or repub, because they are not worthy. The republicans have lost thier true roots (small government, personal liberties the Constitution.. etc.) and the Democrats want to tax and spend til there is nothing left and then just print more money into existence as if this won’t hurt the economy further. We all need to stop this partyline BS….most of these idiots in office couldn’t get a real job, if not for thier politcal ties made while in office couldn’t get a job upon leaving office (and that is from both parties). Actual intelligence requires us to look at each candidate on a individual basis and determine whether or not they hold our individual values, what party they are affiliated with has no bearing nor should it. Most republicans and democrats in office have walked on the constitution and the rule law from the moment they were “elected?”(please watch the award winning HBO documentary “Hacking Democracy” for more on the question mark).I’ll stick to listening to people like Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich, Peter Schiff….people that actually have a clue about where this path we are on is taking us as a nation…..it isn’t a pretty picture being painted.Rush?Fox news?….the lamestream media?….no thanx….I’ll do my own research and make my own decisions…. TYVM.

  • Dark1rep

Not sure why so many people have wasted so much time on this issue OR this article. Seems to me it would have made much more sense to have had a run-off election as many other states do when elections are so close. Of course, I am sure all the Dem.s would oppose this idea since Coleman would have certainly won such a run-off. But hey, who could ever say a Democrat was opposed to democracy?

  • Ron

    Bosco,
How can you say that Bush stole the election in 2000 when Bush was declared the winner? Even Gore new that he had lost and gave his consession speach. Only later when pressured by the left wing-nuts did Gore decide to give stealing the election a shot. (Why not, it was worth a try, right?) In the end it was even the liberal Judges who ruled against Gore ruling to up-hold the original election results. Yes, that was an humilitaion for our country, and especially for Al Gore and the Libs.

    • dan irwin

      Hey,
we did steel that election. We stole the one’s in 98′, 02′, 04′, 06′, & we did a pretty good job last year, too, (altered some results, proud of ourselves, but prop 8 in California might have backfired on us) even when we were being watched. Besides there aren’t any real laws protecting or enforcing voting fraud, so find the crime! We are simply patriot pawns trying to do our part to get power out of the hands of common illiterate men… and women how’d we ever let them vote, what were we thinking. Second class citizens, all of em.

    • Rita

Bush was chosen the “winner” by the conservative Supreme Court in a rushed decision not to finish counting votes.

But if it weren’t for the massive failure of bush’s eight years, we would not have the backlash elections that may bring us closer to a real democracy, although to recover from his disastrous policies that have bankrupted us, that will take some smart and decisive actions.

Obama will do his best, but it will take some hard work and cooperation to bring our country back to what it was before bush & co. They have made their fortunes, but they still won’t quit until everyone is poverty stricken but them.

      • http://donthaveone Mark

Yeah, like the millions of military votes, that didnt get counted, that obviously would have gone to Bush. Bush did wonderful things for this country, are you kidding me. Employment was at an all time high. Unemployment at an all time low, and everything was going good until the last year and a half, when the fear of democrats winning put the fear in business, and they backed off investing, instead saving that money to pay the democrat tax monsters if they won. Fears confirmed. Now millions have lost their jobs, unemployment at an all time high, and these guys solution is to give GM and the UAW billions of dollars for showing they dont know how to properly run a business. Funny how Ford didnt need their money. Honda and Toyota didnt need their money. Wonder why? I think the dems should just tax the hell out of Ford, Honda and Toyota and punish them for being successful and doing business right. Yeah, sadly, thats whats been going on. But no, your saying Bush failed is an out and out lie, and he will go down as one of the greatest presidents ever, for warding off an enemy that Bill Clinton let keep punching us in the nose, and for freeing millions of people and helping forge a democracy where most said it couldnt be done. Of course, the dems want to get out as fast as possible to try to cause it to collapse, just to make themselves look good and point the finger again, but you know, history has a way of revealing things, and as time passes, just like the more and more dirt coming out about how rotten Bill Clinton was, it will come to be know what a great job George Bush did in 8 years. If you dont like it, move to Iran where they think like you do. That should tell you something.

  • Jim

To slander Franken the way you do reveals so much about you. If it weren’t that your kind do occasionally get power and do the kind of damage we’ve seen under the Bush administration, I would pity you, as it is I fear you. I am so glad the American people were smart enough to throw the bums out.

Franken will become one of the best Senators we’ve had in a long time. A counter to bigots like Jeff Sessions

    • Smilee

Jim on July 17th, 2009 at 11:40 am:

      Jim

They were saying the same things and laughing at Wellstone when he first was elected and then then after 12 years he became one of the most respected senators amongst his colleagues in the senate including Jessie Helms and also by the people of MN, actually I think he was thought of as even a bigger joke when he first was elected. I have heard it said Franken may be able to do the same once he is no longer identified with his past and seen for what he really is.

      • bruce

Seen for what he is? An idiot, socialist? What did you mean? This is what you consider a leader?

      • DaveH

        Bruce,
Don’t bother debating with Smilee, he is either already a recipient of the redistribution of wealth, or hopes he will be. When people are greedy for OPM (other people’s money) there is nothing you can say to change their mind.

    • AkCoyote

And what’s the punch line? That was a joke, right?

      • Jim

The joke is that the right will say these sort of things about a man who is obviously dedicated (giving up millions of dollars as an entertainer to serve the people of MN), smart and capable and will support racist buffoons like Limbaugh, Hannity and the grandstanding bigots like Sessions who waste our time and money at a hearing where they are clearly out of touch with what’s going on just to insure that the real idiots who vote for peopple like him will continue. Listen to what Franken said and compare it towhat Sessions said. Then tell me who the joke is.

      • Teri

        ROFLMAO!
Are you kidding me? An entertainer? If Franken is what you Liberals consider an entertainer…America is in more trouble than I ever imagined. He hasn’t worked for how long? What Millions is he sacraficing? Get a life!

    • Rita

Jim, you got it right. Well said.

    • http://donthaveone Mark

Dude, seriously. When the crack pipe comes around, just say no. Al Franken, are you serious. Have you ever listened to him talk. The guy is a twisted angry man. Maybe some good fishing up there will do him good, because eh, you guys do got some dynamite fishing happening up there. I give credit where credit is due. Good fishing, bad political sense.

  • Turnip

I also, am wondering why I’m on this mailing list. I agree with almost all of the principles of what I’ve read so far, but with all of the party slant, you lose me. The idea that there is a right and a left, or a Dem or an Rep, and that is how we resolve and improve our failing system, is false. They are two sides of the same coin, and there isn’t a dimes worth of difference. It’s a waste of time, and a distraction. Only from a united, non-partisan perspective can you hope to make progress. Issues and ideas must stand alone on their merit. Unplug from the two party system hoax. It’s has become an illusion of choice, which may give the powerless comfort in thinking that they in some small way had input or control, but that choice effectively changes nothing. The R&D crowd have been fighting over the same 4 or 5 things for over 50 years, and there is no consensus. Really, what progress! End the divide, embrace the opponents of your opponent, and find the common ground. Freedom and Liberty will need all parties.

    • Bob

I totally agree BOTH sides are corrupt and only want power for themselve and there own little agendas, at the expence of OUR freedom, prosperity,I f it takes SCrewing the people to get it (so be it) who are they anyway Why do you think BOTH sides want to legalise 20 million illegal aliens who are use to living under a simi dictatorship.so they can vote
40 acres and a mule just vote for me

    • Lynne

I am so happy to finally hear someone say that the two-party system doesn’t work.

I swear that D&R’s are more interested in following everything the PARTY says than using their own common sense.

I also see that to prove points, they often forget what the real historical events were.

I also think that we need to vote them all out and start over.

      • Gerald Marquardt

The two best posts so far

      • AkCoyote

I refuse to vote for ANY incumbent until the system changes.

      • Rita

Great comment! We came close to that when Obama got elected… a big change from the past. Let’s see what he can do.

  • Paul Bosco

Your observations about recent stolen elections are rather quaint, given that they do not acknowledge Bush-Gore 2000. Talk to foreigners about that one. It was an American humiliation.

About Honduras, I am torn. Zelaya reads like bad news, but the region’s history of military coups casts a different light on the matter. The US position is the same as that of the Org of American States, and it does not appear that we had to twist any arms to get agreement. In this case, EVERYONE outside Honduras agrees with Chavez.

Well, there’s you. And even if you’re wrong, I can’t say you haven’t taken the high ground.

    –Paul J. Bosco

    • bruce

      Paul,
Read the article again. The people of Honduras are rising up. Do you choose to believe Chavez? Regardless of what the Honduran Supreme Court says?
Do you always side with the UN?
BTW, Paul, the Bush election did go through numerous exams and recounts and Gore never won one of those recounts. You seem to be oblivious to facts.
The American people who love freedom and distrust government are rising up too. Does it bother you at all that Obama wants to control the Census? Do you wonder why that would be the case? Does it bother you that the Congressional leaders are stealing the current and future treasury of the US with no accountability? Forcing votes on huge spending bills before anyone can read them? And the Democrats vote yes, and go along with the proceedure because they have the numbers in the Congress. None of this bothers you???? You need to examine your own conclusions and why you blindly side with the left?

      • Patricia Henson

Obama promised transparency in government if elected, I don’t see anything but secrets. Why rush all of these bills through in the middle of the night or at speeds that guarantee that no one can read them? That alone should worry everyone. What about Acorn putting GPS markers in front of everyones homes during the census? What would be the need for that other than to make it easier to round people up? That should scare even the most brave person.

If you purchase a shotgun you can make them scared.

      • Patricia Henson

Brian, It scares me more that it may come to that. It worries me that good people will get desperate enough to do just that. We need to do everything in our power legally to turn this thing around before another revolution begins in this country.

      • Patricia Henson

Smiley, I know you are trying to be funny but there is nothing funny about what is going on in this country right now. I hope you and people like you wake up soon and join the fight to make this country as great as it once was. You too are losing your rights as an American citizen including the right to free speech. Without that right you couldn’t post silly remarks on the internet so I hope you start to take some of these things more seriosly.

      • Smilee

I do take everything going on in this country very very seriously and care very much about it just do not take all these conservative goof balls on this site too seriously as so many of their statements are so ridiculous and they are so full of gloom and doom and not really very serious about helping with solutions to today’s problems in this country. The posts here are mostly the same conservative talking points coupled with expressions of fear, hate and frustration. Kind of like watching a dog chase his tale its so sad. One has to be funny once in a while to deal with this bunch.

      • Patricia Henson

Smiley reply, I am sure that you are quite sincere when you say you do care about this country and I understand your theory on the humor. Unfortunately what you call the conservatives ramblings are very real. I’d like you to do me a favor and take 1 day to look up everything that we are saying and judge for yourself weather we are real or not but do it with some information under your belt. The government likes it when people stay in the dark and don’t pay attention to what they are doing. The trouble is though is that one day we are going to wake up and all of the freedoms that we have today are going to be gone. You sound like an intelligent person and I think you are up to the challenge.

Patricia Henson Reply: July 18th, 2009 at 11:55 am

Thank you, I take this posting of yours as a serious one and will try to respond in kind. I was a republican all my life for 52 years and very active in that party, in the fall of 86 I was appointed by my local republican state senate district (party position not a public one) to serve on its executive board and fill out the term of someone who resigned, this was an elective office with a two year term and in the next 6 years I was elected and reelected to this board of 18. I watched the far right conservatives take over this republican senate district and I served with them for a total of 7 years and became intimately knowledgeable about them and their beliefs, from this experience I now fully understand what they stand for and what they seek to do, their agenda. I knew personally at that time a very large share of the states republican politicians both state and federal and worked with them, two on my executive board were elected to office one as a state senator and one to a state wide office. Over this seven year period I had a real eye opening experience and behind closed doors and hidden from the public was an agenda quite different that what they gave to the public and having the majority on the board over ride our objections to this. They really do want to take away your freedoms and control everything but do not want the rank and file conservatives to know this. And the support they amassed from the senate district was the most biased and hateful people I have known in my life despite the fact they were very religious and steady church goers. Over this seven year period all who disagreed were either driven out mostly though harassment and other mean methods, I did not run for a fourth term and at this time I was the only member left of the old school so to speak. It was their way or the highway with no love or tolerance for anyone in society that did not go in lockstep to their marching orders. This was in 93 and until that time I had always voted for republicans. I was inactive at this and started voting a split ticket and in 96 for the first time I voted for a democrat for president. In 04 when GWB ran for reelection I joined the Democrat party and got active working in that Party and as I was now retired (in 03) I have at times even worked full time for the party and now know many of the Democrat politicians in the state. Every thing said behind closed door here is exactly what they tell the members and the public. They hate no one and are the most caring and loving people I have ever met and I have had a ball. Until the last seven years I was a republican I kind of just accepted everything and thought I was a republican and always would be and these conservatives really started me doing some deep thinking and soul searching I did a lot of research and study about the real differences in the parties and gained a much better understanding of how the government works and what both parties were attempting to accomplish, studied the constitution in depth and how the courts worked and looked back on my time that I have been called and served on jury duty. Last week I got called again for the fourth time in my life and will be serving for two weeks in august next. I now fully understand why I left the republican party and for years this was painful for me and why am I now a democrat. My biggest concern today is the power lobbies have on both parties but the republican party is the most controlled, and mostly controlled by the big corporations which have gotten so big and powerful that if they are to fail it would probably ruin our economy, to date most still are OK but if they all go the way of those who have already failed we all fail. The bigger the company the bigger their lobby and the greater control they have over our government to the detriment of us all. I just see the democrat party and Obama as the lesser of two evils and will do all I can to help them succeed as I really feel our best chance to turn this around rest with them at this time. It bothers me terribly that so many are so flippant and talk so silly so much of the time and I find that the Rush LImbaughs of this world and his real agenda is to control this county as the people that I served with those seven years worshiped him and I believe their agenda which I became very familiar with is that of Rush’s, but Rush will never tell you that in fact he wants you to believe the opposite. A lot of the people on here fear their government but fail to realize they are their government and it is only the government through the people who have the power to limit the power of the huge corporations who now effectively control the government. It remains to be seen if we will. So as I see if you people make government your enemy you have no friend to help you and we can then be reduced by those corporations, who have amassed this power to the likes of a third world country. I the hate what I see expressed so much on here it will assist in this happening because it lends power to those who want to amass it all. We will if they succeed only have a few who are rich and the rest will live in poverty. I firmly believe the democrats and their members are much more in touch with this reality now than the conservatives who on a daily basis do nothing but trash their government and those that will not join in their agenda. I believe there are many here that in their hearts are and minds are closer to the democrat agenda but they dare not believe it because they will not open their minds and hearts to seeing the others persons point of view. There is more than one point of view but it seems most far right conservatives can only see theirs and that blinds them to reality. Patricia Henson, thank you again for opening the door to me and hopefully you will really listen to my point as well and I hope that you will believe from what I have said that I am very much knowable about what the conservative beliefs in this country today are, I really do know. If the far right conservatives really understood the democrats as well as I understand them we could maybe have real conversation. I’m not holding my breathe though.

Smiley reply, I know that you are absolutely serious and as honest as you can be, but there is none of this that is about parties. I think they are both dirty skunks and the whole lot of them need to be thrown out of Washingington and make it about people and country. The Republicans come off as ruff and gruff but in accuality are weak kneeed lilies. The Democrats though are just as dangerous because they come off charming and smile at you as they plunge in the knife. It sounds to me that you are probably about my age and if so I know that you have seen a few things in your lifetime. I’ve never seen so much that scares me as I do now. I don’t think the constitution should be thrown in the trash can to pass the laws that Obama wants passed. I don’t think that my Christian religion should be outlawed to make way for Islam. I don’t think that I should have to work all day to feed someone elses kid while my child does not get enough. I don’t think that the govrnment should be able to tell me what Dr. I get to see or what treatment I’m allowed to have. I don’t think I should have to give up my job so an illegal alien, who has never paid taxes in this country, can have my job. I don’t think that illegal aliens should be drawing social-security so when it’s my turn there is none left to be had, even though I’ve paid for it all of my life. I don’t think that my tax money should be paying for abortions or boob-jobs just because someone wants one,and lastly I don;t think we should be spending ourselves into bancruptcy so that there is no America left. As I hope you see Smiley, I don’t do this out of hate I do it because I love my country and I want it to be here for my children and grandchildren. It’s not perfect but no country is but I think out of all of them this one is the best. Please look up some of thse issues for yourself and don’t take my word for it. these things are happening it’s not a conspiricy plan. I will pray for you as I’m sure you are a nice person. thank you.

Thanks for your kind response. The country has always had political parties and that’s not going to go away and I believe you have to work within the system to change it and therefore one needs to support one party or another to effect change. There are no other options under our system and not doing so would cause even worse anarchy than we seem to have now. Your religion is not going to be outlawed or replaced by Islam, under our constitution the government cannot favor one religion over the other but they do have all the same rights as Christians do and that has to be fully respected by both religions to insure harmony and the Conservatives are opposed to that and the republicans I worked with see themselves as conservatives who want to do just that and they were getting their marching orders at least at that time from a national source whom I was never trusted by them as to who that was but they did convince me there is this conspiracy to change this country into a theocracy which I believe would turn this country into a country like Iran which has that type of government albeit Islam and not Christian but just as deadly as the law would them force Christianity on all Americans. Therein the freedoms of all non Christian faiths in this country would be denied and from all the hatred I seen in them when behind closed doors is scary. I do not believe the Supreme Court will ever issue an opinion in any case to allow this as precedent and the constitution is totally clear on that issue, so this no longer concerns me but what does concern me is all the grief they cause all of us in their efforts as they still want this kind of government and feel God has directed them to walk all over all of God’s other children who disagree with them. Love thy neighbor and respectfully witness to them at appropriate times and places but none of us were called to be on God’s jury or be his judge or executioner and that is the beauty of the separation of church and state as it protects us from that happening and the founding fathers understood the problems that this can cause. When one religion wants to be in control and gains the power to do that, they then in effect deprive those not in agreement with them of their freedoms to worship as they wish and would then be subjecting them to their will and force them to worship as they dictate thus depriving them of their freedoms. Remember your history and how the Christians in this country where authorized by our government to force their religion on the native Americans and forced then to worship as the Christians dictated, today that is not the case because of the Supreme Court decisions enforcing this first amendment rights now prevents that and the native Americans were treated harshly over this issue not to mention how the government treated them in addition to other mistreatments not related to religion. Original Medicare does not choose your doctor or treatments or limit them and it is a forty four year old government health care program unless you are enrolled in one of the new Medicare advantage plans that the republicans voted in to law in 2003 and was signed by GW Bush, which put you in networks and limit your choices of doctor and coverage’s and even ration care. The private sector HMOs, managed care programs regulated under ERISA and now most insurance companies can and do deny coverage and treatments and ration them but you rarely see this in the press, I can cite you many cases but will only mention one and that was a man whom I worked with was enrolled in his employers HMO and he needed surgery on his foot and they could not schedule him for surgery for five months as they did not have enough surgeons on their staff to cover their patient load and when he request that they pay an out of network doctor to do and they were available to do it now but they refused to pay for that and he had to daily use pain medications and walk on crutches for the entire five month waiting period until they did the surgery which did end the pain and he no longer needed crutches. Try and get around pre existing conditions and get care. What people either to not understand or refuse too believe is the health care today in the private sector except for the Medigap Insurance plans to supplement Medicare Coverage do have waiting times, deny many coverage’s and ration care and have waiting times but they do not want you to know it either and how is the individual suppose to get that message out but it is getting out more and more and that and cost is what is driving health care reforms today. The plan with the greatest choices of doctors today and the least denial of coverage’s and waiting times is original Medicare with a government regulated private sector Medigap insurance plan that is preventing it and doing it at less cost to the individual. So why do you fear the government having more control over our health when right today it operates the best plan out there. They democrats keep telling us they will not reform it that way and the republicans and the conservatives keep saying they are lying. The governments Medicare health care with a forty five hear history with the best outcomes and the private sectors complete failure in this same period of time. It is beyond me why this conservative fear of a government plan when it is crystal clear the private sector on their own will do anything without government intervention to change anything that will decrease their large and easy profits. I believe it is the health care corporate lobbies and the talk show programs of which corporate America controls so many of is creating this false belief and they are bombarding us today in their effort to protect their profits and their almost sole control of your health care. When are people going to understand that the large corporate health care providers and third party payers care nothing about health or even if you suffer and even die under their control and they do control your health care today and you have no say in it, but you can vote for you representatives and know what they are doing unlike of the secrecy that is given the corporations in their offices and board rooms. Remember the tobacco law suit in MN that exposed this type of corporate behavior in those companies and believe me it exists in a lot of corporations to day where they are hiding from us the truth. The tobacco companies got by with lying for over fifty years before they were forced out into the light of day by that lawsuit and we then became aware of how corporations lie to the public. Despite all these facts conservatives still don’t get because of their hatred and biases. I have come to believe you are not filled with hate but many on here are. I do not believe the constitution is being trashed either although you hear that being said often and those saying it can rarely cite what is being done that actually trashes it and is more about what these people want to see changed and many times the constitution does not allow for that and they want it to, so do not get what they want and then conclude it is being trashed. I agree with you this is the best country but we have made many mistakes and one on them is how out health care is handled and although most other countries do not have a perfect plan they have demonstrated they can do better than us, both in cost and outcomes and we need to come to grips with this and quit distorting the facts about it as it gets in the way of doing that and that to me is sad because we all suffer because of it. Why is it that looking at how other countries provide their health so scary to Conservatives when in most cases they do it at half the cost and weather you pay for it by taxes or premiums half the cost is to me a plan I want to understand before trashing it and really looking at the facts and to this to me is closed mind as nothing beats success and that lesser costs should really interest conservatives as it suggests it is fitting to what they call themselves. Have a good day!

Dear Smiley,Thank you for your reply and your concerns. I don’t pretend to have all of the answeres as I’m not sure anyone does other than God. But I will tell you a little more of what I do know. Political parties are always going to be around. that much is true but it doesn’t have to be these political parties as I think they’ve both become corrupt. Both parties have let the people down and no longer work for the people but the lobbiests is who they are listening to and not the people who according to the constitution IS the government. As far as religion goes, people have been working for decades to eradicate it.. They have taken prayer out of school, the 10 commandments out of public buildings, and even little nativity scenes off the public square. Can you tell me what those things really hurt? Military Chaplins have recieved orders not to pray in the name of Jesus Christ at the risk of court marshall. One chaplin did and was promptly court marshalled and thrown out of the military. But by the same token the muslim soldiersget time out during the day to pray to Allah and are allowed to speak his name aloud at all times without fear of courtmarshall. This country was founded on Judeo-Christian princibles and it makes me sick that the name of Jesus Christ has been turned into a dirty word. I beleive that everyone has the right to worship the way they please unless they take my right to worship my God the way I need to, then I have a problem.Your concerns about the Indians are valid. The way that was handled was barbaric but we can’t change anything now, all we can do now is not make the same mistakes. All I can say for now though is that laws were made and the constitution was instituted and it’s been working good for over 200 years. You think that the constitution can’t be destroyed but it can. Sonia Sotomayar will get a seat on the bench of the supreme court. She is one of Obamas picks and I beleive one of the pawns using the supreme court rulings as a way to turn over the constitution. There are several things I have learned about her and wrote about on another blog for heritage foundation in an article that they wrote about her. You can check it out in that article about sotomayar if you want to. You are right when you say healthcare in this country leaves alot to be desired. It’s not perfect but it is better than anything that any other country has right now. The governments of the countries that have government run healthcare are telling us not to do it. The patients are being undertreated or not treated at all. I beleive that Obamas plan is a little more evious than that though. I beleive that older patients are going to be left to die as most older Americans are Christians. I beleive that the people deemed useful to the government that get treated will still wait months to get the treatment that they need. Have you ever had to use a government clinic for healthcare? I have, the wait is up to 17 hours and then there is still no guarentee that you will be seen. Then there are so many medicines that you can’t have due to expence. If the government really wanted to do something for healthcare they could regulate price of pharmaceuticals or rising costs of Drs. visits. I don’t want government telling me what Dr. I can see or what procedure I can have, or what medicine I can take. Please do some research on this yourself as I’m really not pulling your leg or preaching from a place of hate. I just want my grandchildren to have the same rights and opportunities that I had. They are being taken away whether people beleive us or not. There has never been a political bone in my body until now and now I’m afaid for my children and grandchildren and have been doing alot of studying. Please do some heavy duty checking for yourself. Thank you Smiley, I hope I have helped answere some of your questions.

Nice post Bruce. But it seems when you post the truth like this, the left just gets infuriated by it, and they never seem to bring fact, just opinions, and things they read in some left wing liberal pacifist appeasing news paper, written by a career democrat with an ax to grind. I guess that when the truth is not in them, they dont want to be bothered with it. Its much easier for them to just do nothing, bring no solutions or direction, but just sit there and point the finger and blame someone else for everything and anything. I myself, couldnt live like that. I seek the truth, and choose to get educated and find it, whether I like the result or not, the truth is the truth, and it will set you free. The left is so far from it, that it really is scary these days.

Beauty and truth are in the eye of the beholder. I think you need new glasses.

      • Ray McDougal

Mark, please re-read what Bruce wrote. He speaks from his personal life experience and has been open-minded enough to make a change when change is necessary. When you allow your projections of what “left wing pacifists” think or do, you cancel out the value of what you’re hearing, you miss the point. Government is what we make it. You make it a hateful football game– or war — that paints the other side as devils incarnate. Good and evil exists in every human being, and each human being has their own proportions, depending upon experiences and choices.

When we allow demogogues and corporate lobbies to control our government, we lose our democracy. The wealthy will continue to destroy or avoid regulations that protect regular citizens for their own benefit, as we have seen in the recent banking crisis. The wealthy oppose legislation to to protect us from the stranglehold of insurance companies who can cancel our policies when it suits them, and oppose legislation that makes drug companies make a reasonable profit from their products. The wealthy will encourage and perpetuate wars that kills our citizens and destroys families so they can sell their weapons and war materials at exobitant prices, and even cheat the government with their billing processes and manipulations.

It is hate and fear that gives power to the groups who would control us through our government, did you hear that from Bruce? Did you hear him say that both parties are problematic, but there is one group that is trying to do a little better for “WE, the people”?

Hatred is not a family value, and I heard Bruce say there is one party that is more motivated by hate than another. Money and power is a destroyer, and it has done terrible things for our country, since it is more powerful in some people than compassion and decency. We should actively seek out leaders who will show compassion and decency for every person. It is sad for this world that compassion and decency can be seen as a weakness, for those are the very values that real Christians understand and desire for themselves and others.

If the wealthy do take over, there will be an eventual backlash. It may take time for the people to revolt, but what happened in the Russian Revolution could happen here — few people want Communism. Hunger and anger take a heavy toll; when there’s nothing left to lose, people strike back at their oppressors. We need cooperation between left and right, honest, thoughtful and dialogue and leaders who work for the all the people, not just for the people who have bought and paid for them.

      • http://donthaveone Mark

But Ray, all those scary things you post, describe the democratic party of today, and thats why I have no use for them. They are the rich guys, pretend to be the poor guys, and they lie and deceive with the biggest propaganda machine ever made, called ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and MSNBC. No, I know the truth when I see and hear it, and it doesnt come from the left. Everything is agenda based with them. Right Al Gore, and global warming. Been much cooler everywhere this year. Hmm. Ice caps are growing not shrinking and melting as he stated. Hmm. Planet is actually cooling, not getting hotter. Hmm. Agenda being, Al would have made billions. The left lies, and I dont trust them, end of story. Maybe some day again, but not now. I dont agree with killing babies, with removing God, with putting gays on a pedestal, and giving more rights to minorities than others get. That is prejudice. I though we were all created equal? Give everyone equal rights, not just a select few minorities and gays. The left is confused.

  • RobM

All of the ad hominem arguments add nothing to this discourse whatsoever.

  • Ron

Al is good enough, smart enough, and dog-gone-it, Minnesota likes him. How can anyone take this guy seriousley. Unfortunately now the Dems rule with supreme power. Much like the Nazi party did in pre-wwII Germany. Like chip said, these guys will eventually screw up and turn semi-rational people against them. It is just a matter of time.

You are probably correct on than observation but I’m not sure how much time America has. Obama is passing bills at alarming quick speeds. My fear is if we don’t do something quick that we may not get another oppurtunity.

  • bruce

I guess we should pay particular attention to these events, both in MN and in Honduras, since the stealing of elections seems to be a specialty of the Democrats in charge in this country. Is it surprising that Obama has moved to place the US Census under the White House? And guess who got $5 Billion of US Taxpayer money in the “stimulous” bill? Acorn, of course, who will also be assisting with the Census. PAY ATTENTION FOLKS, this group will stop at nothing and we are going to have our very own banana republic, complete with phony elections.
We should fire every single member of Congress in 2010 and 2012, not to mention Obama, and start over. This body has, for 50 years failed us in their mission and gotten progressively more and more corrupt.

    • GWB

And what about George Bush stealing votes in Florida 2000? Forgot that?

      • http://donthaveone Mark

Never happened. What happened, was tens of thousands of military votes that didnt even get counted, because Bush didnt need them. Almost all of them were Republican, but somehow they got flown around the world for awhile, trying to hide them. Now who would do that? Can someone say lefty?

      • dassieland

It was the Democrats that tried to pull something in Florida. They (Democrats ofcourse) even hauled voting booths around after it closed to get more votes. There was just as much corruption there (from Democrats) trying to steal the votes from President Bush. You liberals tried your hardest but God was on his side. I thank God for that as perhaps Gore would have handed us over to the terrorist, just like Clinton did. Remember Osama Bin Ladin was practically handed over to him and he looked the other way. Did nothing about it, therefore I blame Clinton for this war we had to go into – Not BUSH. President Bush is our hero, saved us from disaster. God Bless the good old USA and our troops and their families for their sacrifices.

      • http://donthaveone Mark

Not only that, that pacifist appeasing Bill Clinton let them bomb the World Trade Center basement, let them blow up our barracks in Lebanon killing hundreds of of soldiers, let them blow up the USS Cole, and let them drag our dead through the streets of Somalia beating them naked on TV, and he did nothing. I tell you, HE DID NOTHING. While our enemy was testing and testing us, punching in the nose then punching in the nose again, Bill Clinton sent Hillary out and ordered in a young intern and a cigar. What a joke he was as president. Then like you said, 3 times he was offered Bin Laden, and said no. He curled up the fetal position and peed his pants and cried for his mommy. What a loser. Democrats. This is a fact, and those in this post will try to deny it, and call me names, but you know dassieland, and I know, and the America people know, this all happened, its all fact, and one cannot change history. Some fail to recognize the mistakes, and they are doomed to repeat them. But most of us saw this as how it was, and how these lefties operate.

I tend to agree…However there are still a few in Washington with GOOD common sense: DeMint, etc. But, absolutely…Get rid of Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, Frank, Schumer, Feinstein, Boxer…oops “Senator Boxer”…and so on, and so on…

      • Norm

        Teri
We live in a democracy. Majority rules. The democrats have the power in a big way. Your next shot at it is 2010, and judging from what I see, things look bad for the republicans. Maybe if they would stop ranting and raveing, and make some positive contributions to solving the enormous problems facing us, they might become electable. The US is mainly moderate right not extreme right.
Until voted otherwise, you lose. Live with it.

      • Teri

        Well, to quote Sarah Palin….

“Job losses are so certain under this new cap-and-tax plan that it includes a provision accommodating newly unemployed workers from the resulting dried-up energy sector, to the tune of $4.2 billion over eight years. So much for creating jobs.

In addition to immediately increasing unemployment in the energy sector, even more American jobs will be threatened by the rising cost of doing business under the cap-and-tax plan. For example, the cost of farming will certainly increase, driving down farm incomes while driving up grocery prices. The costs of manufacturing, warehousing and transportation will also increase.

The ironic beauty in this plan? Soon, even the most ardent liberal will understand supply-side economics.

The Americans hit hardest will be those already struggling to make ends meet. As the president eloquently puts it, their electricity bills will “necessarily skyrocket.” So much for not raising taxes on anyone making less than $250,000 a year.

Even Warren Buffett, an ardent Obama supporter, admitted that under the cap-and-tax scheme, “poor people are going to pay a lot more for electricity.”

We must move in a new direction. We are ripe for economic growth and energy independence if we responsibly tap the resources that God created right underfoot on American soil. Just as important, we have more desire and ability to protect the environment than any foreign nation from which we purchase energy today.”

So, Norm…Conservatives do have, and have offered…, many alternatives to the liberal spending spree. YOUR LIBERAL Administration & Congress refuse to listen…because they think they are ALL KNOWING! If I wanted to live in a European, or Third world lifestyle…I would have moved there! I was born in The United States of America! We were all hoping for POSITIVE CHANGE…This President had a Great Opportunity as the first Black President to do remarkable & wonderful things for this Country…He has chosen to be a Power Hungry, Greedy, “Its all about ME”, President. How DARE He apologize for this Country’s Leadership and Strength, or shake hands with SCUM! His behavior is treasonous! Covorting with the enemies of this Country & Democracy!??

2010 may be the soonest to vote out those who are selling us to China…but we still have a voice and can contact these individuals and let them know the consequences of their actions! I certainly don’t want to learn ‘Mandarin’, and I don’t know many who do. If that is your choice, then you are in the wrong Country, and should consider moving to one of the Countries this President is trying to emmulate!

      • http://donthaveone Mark

2010 will be a big shift Norm, and its because the people have seen what these guys are doing and what they are up to, and few like it. Notice how even Hillary is distancing herself from him these days. They are going to throw him under the bus to safe themselves, no doubt about it. All they have been telling him to say and do, they will put all on him and place all the blame on him, when he hasnt any ideas of his own, which is quite evident. Read what the telestrater says, and go on. Thats it. Mass shift in 2010 as the repubs sweep, and I just hope when they do, a lot of new faces come in and a lot of the career politicians go out. That is what truly needs to happen, on both sides. These career guys are in bed with special interest groups and have been for some time. They are beholden to them, and not to the people as they should be.

      • Norm

Sarah Palin is a fine woman, but definately not presidential material.

I’m against cap and trade personally as well.

To blame Obama for all the problems in this country is ludicrous. He’s only been in office for 6 months.
He certainly is not responsible for the sell-out to China. Blame that on our patriotic upper crust, who would sell their souls for a few extra bucks.

America has a shrinking middle class. We, as a country, are getting poorer. Until we solve this problem, we are doomed. If our wealthy “royalty” don’t have the honor and decency to support their country, then government regulation needs to happen.

      • http://donthaveone Mark

I am the shrinking middle you are referring to, however, those that you and others refer to as the wealthy royalty, are the ones footing the bill for this country, like say 85 percent of it. I want them and their money left alone, that they may invest in business, and hire more people, but when you keep take take taking from them, they move to Mexico and Canada because they get tired of it. I would too. The threat isnt those who have worked hard and become successful, the threat is from those who want to take take take from these guys, and give to those who want nothing more than a hand out so they can sit on their porch and drink their forty and smoke some rock. It is in epidemic proportions right now, and is getting worse, and our very own government keeps contributing to it. They are the crutch for this type of behavior. Now Im all for helping out the less fortunate, but is someone really less fortunate, when they are 20 years younger than my 51, and they are sitting on a porch most everyday, with 6 or 7 of their buddies, drinking beer, and smoking cigarettes , pot and crack. Come on, something is wrong with this picture. Im sorry, but if the government is going to give people a handout because they are “in need”, then they should drug test them, and if they are spending this “aid” money on pot and drugs, they should be cut off and fined to pay back all they have collected so far. Where does it stop? How much to you give them before you see the waste? I support my church and my local rescue mission, that gives these people some hope in the world, but for the government to take my hard earned money and give it to these people so they can drink and drug, yeah, damn right, I got a problem with it, and it is rampant. You dont need to look hard, its all over. Some tell me that there is no reason for them to work, they are getting paid to party, and laugh about it. It is a joke. And its been going on for years, through both parties, only now, like it wasnt bad enough, Obama and his mates want to reward this behavior by giving them more and for a long period of time. Un stinking believable. I dont care what your politics are, this isnt right. Ive never went to college, never came from money, and Ive always been able to get a job, and more importantly, retain it. I have had the misfortune now, of 4 places I worked at closing after anywhere from 3 months to 8 years of working there. Went out the next Monday after the weekend, and beat the bushes and found another job. No unemployement, no welfare, no food stamps, nothing. Im not special. If I can do it, they all can do it. But you see, they dont want to, and when the government is rewarding that kind of behavior, just what is their motivation to go to work? None.

You democraps just cannot help yourselves. We are giving you all the rope you want right now. It is inevitable that you will hang yourselves. Hell, it’s happening on a daily basis already. Political positions based on ignorance reverse-racism,low-class, uncouth, personal destruction tactics have succeeded to this point due to apathy. This, and especially the Obama economy, is waking up the majority now. Thank you for the wicked, unholy nature in which you function. It will positively benefit our nation for many years to come.

Replub’s would never pass bills without reading them first. Those who take the high road will prevail, in the end. Remember that as you watch all of your perverse schemes based on a failed ideologies fall apart as the country is destroyed in the process.

When it’s all over, likely in 2010, Obama will be a “lame duck usurper” and it will be 1-2 generations before you liberals will have another chance of brainwashing enough morons to give it another go.

How’s this Obama “hope and change” thingy working out for you…..and the country now? Remember, we are not black, white, latino, asian or rich, middle-class or poor. WE ARE AMERICANS. ALL OF US.

      AMEN, REP RICK

But what you said at the end, I see as what the democrats have done, they have forged this thing where in their voters minds, the republicans are bunch of rich white people, and the democrats are black, hispanic, asian, illegal aliens, and we are out to get them, so they create this big division in America. They have done it for years. Yet it is the republicans that freed black people, Republicans that fought for civil rights while the democrats fought against it, and the republicans have named more prominent blacks to posts that the democrats, but somehow they get the black population to vote for them, while they consistently hold them down and keep them down by offering little hand outs to keep them in their place. You give a man a handout and you break his spirit. You have him work for it and it builds him up. Dr. Harry Edwards and Bill Cosby will tell you about this, but when they speak the truth, they are called uncle tom. Its not right. But the black population in this country would much better serve themselves if they turned over to the republican party. It has served them much better than the democrats ever have.

  • Brenda

Why is it that if you disagree with liberals you have sour grapes or you are called names? There are a lot of wrong things happening in this country and if we don’t watch it, we the American citizens may be forced to react in the same manner as the Hondurans. If you don’t think so, you’re blind and cannot see what Barack Hussein Obama’s real agenda. People didn’t think Hitler was a threat either!

  • Debbie Parmer

If Rush Limbaugh is dumb then that would make you an amoeba.
I’m sure you’ll have to look that up.

    • Norm

I’ve have BSEE and MSCS degrees -what do you have?
I think you fit the description of an amoeba.

      Some Rush gems:
      1. “There is no conclusive proof that nicotine’s addictive… And the same thing with cigarettes causing emphysema, lung cancer, heart disease.”
      2. “[African Americans] are twelve percent of the population. Who the hell cares?”
      3. “Feminism was established to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream.”
      4. To a black caller: “Take that bone out of your nose and call me back.”
      5. “Screw the world. Do you really think we ought to govern ourselves based on what the world thinks of us?”
      6. “Columbus saved the Indians from themselves.”

LIMBAUGH: “If you have any doubts about the status of American health care, just compare it with that in other industrialized nations.”
REALITY: The United States ranks 19th in life expectancy and 20th in infant mortality among 23 industrialized nations, according to the CIA’s 1993 World Fact Book. The U.S. also has the lowest health care satisfaction rate (11 percent) of the 10 largest industrialized nations (Health Affairs, vol. 9, no. 2).

LIMBAUGH: Limbaugh constantly tells his audience that he doesn’t make personal or ad hominem attacks. To a caller who had a problem with his personalized attacks, Limbaugh responded with a denial: “Give me a specific example: who, what, when, where, and what exactly did I say?”
REALITY: One hour before that call, Limbaugh was telling his audience that a 5,000-year-old man found buried in ice–pictured on the cover of Time magazine–was really Sally Jesse Raphael: “This is just what Sally Jesse Raphael looks like without makeup!”

MORE REALITY: Columnist Molly Ivins reported (Arizona Republic 10/17/93) this incident from Limbaugh’s TV show–”Here is a Limbaugh joke: Everyone knows the Clintons have a cat. Socks is the White House cat. But did you know there is a White House dog?” And he puts up a picture of Chelsea Clinton. Chelsea Clinton is 13 years old

      Simply amazing!

        Isn’t free speech wonderful?

      • DaveH

        Norm,
You have an BSEE and an MSCS, wow, that gives you superiority. I have worked with people of all degree levels who don’t have a clue when it comes to politics. I have two degrees, BS in Biology, and BS in Math, with several Computer Science courses later on, but I learned very little about politics and economics in college. My main learning experience was due to my stock market investments. I had to follow what the government was doing because most of what they do has a big effect on investments. I read religiously every day for most of my first 8 years of work life. In fact, it cost me my marriage because I didn’t spend enough time with my wife.
I can certainly see Rush Limbaugh’s frustration when it comes to Democrats. I have often cringed though when I have heard him make some outlandish remark under the guise of humor. I do believe he needs to change that behavior and just stick to the facts. Maybe he feels that would bore his listeners to just dead pan the facts, who knows?
Anyway, as I have stated before, I am Libertarian, but I would trust the Republicans more than I would trust the Democrats. However, I don’t want either one of them making my life-choices.

      • Norm

        DaveH

I mentioned my education only after being compared to an amoeba. I don’t wear it on my sleeve, but I did earn it.

As I also stated, I’m a lifelong republican who has become very unhappy with the direction that the party has taken. I too have a wee bit of stock market experience and was fortunate enough to avoid most of the last bloodbath.
I blame Alan Greenspan’s over reaction on interest rate reduction, and the lack of governmental oversight on the banking industry for the meltdown.
The shrinking middle class is also causing the US to become less afluent. People without money are relying far too much on credit, and anticipated asset appreciation to solve their problems.

As for Rush, he is a good business man and provocative entertainer. There was a time that I actually supported some of his ideas. But a man who says he wants the president of the US to fail, just to boost his ego, is crossing the line in my view. Rush is a very wealthy man and I think his ideas are understandable in that context. Some of the poorer people who hang on his every word truly amaze me though.

      • DaveH

        Norm,
I think you may enjoy reading Thomas Sowell’s book “The Housing Boom and Bust”. In it he explains the anatomy of the meltdown (and the government is complicit). And as stated in an earlier post, the government is currently doing more of the same.
I probably don’t need to tell you this, but we are headed for some nasty inflation (at least double-digit) so anyone with large amounts of cash needs to diversify at least a portion into some hard assets (housing, precious metals, cars if you have plans to buy one soon anyway). During inflationary times one can borrow money to buy hard assets (leverage) and then later on pay off the debt with cheaper dollars. The problem with this approach though is that it is risky given the scary economic outlook, as you need to keep your job to pay the debt down (usually).

      • http://donthaveone Mark

I got a BFD and Im a BMF on the side. Letters mean nothing pal, I know plenty of college grads that are dumber than a bag of rocks. Heck, Glen Robinson graduated from Purdue, you know, that top echelon engineering college? His agent had to read him his contract. Yeah, its kind of like that. Degree’s mean nothing when it comes to common sense, in fact sometimes it detracts from it.

      • Norm

Didn’t mean to intimidate you. My education helped me to make a good living.
You do make a point, though, GW Bush has a BA from Yale and an MBA from Harvard and has the vocabulary of an average 4th grader.

      • http://donthaveone Mark

But I think George Bush, who you slander to no end, and label as stupid, and that he cant talk, which says loads about your prejudice to those of the southwest, because that is the way they talk, but his education has served him evidently, much better than yours. While you sit here lambasting him, seems to me he rose to be the owner of the Texas Rangers, far more in business than you ever went, to being the Governor of Texas, far more than you ever went, and then President of the United States, far more than youll ever go, and then not resting on his laurels, he used his position of power to benefit others, by not only creating a tax break that allowed business’s to hire millions of workers, he then freed millions of people living in oppression, something no other has done. If you think speaking eloquently as Bill Clinton did, or being able to read from a teleprompter as Barrack Obama does means your smart, dude your confused. You buy into the plastic baloney they give you. When George Bush talked, sure he had a drawl, he spoke like a common man, speaking to a common man, and I for one appreciated it. He spoke from the heart, and like him or not, the guy came, said he was going to to A and B, and he did A and B. Not many politicians do what they say, kind of like Obama right now. The cat aint doing nothing but giving our money away to the UAW and GM, and Ill guarantee you right now, its not going to turn out well. He has weakened us to our enemies, and is selling us down the river. So sad you cant see that. But I am smart enough to know that it isnt so much Obama, as it is his party. While you guys sat there pointing the little finger saying Bush, Bush, Bush, you evidently dont realize the President doesnt have absolute control to do what he wants. It takes congress to back it up, and much of what Bush did and tried to do was backed by the democratic congress, so if you guys dont like what he did, you need to vote these democrats out that you disagree with. Its that simple. But the guy is damn smart, smarter than you or I will ever be, and you announce your stupidity to the world when you try to cut him down and announce all the degrees you have, yet he by far excelled high above what you ever did. So point your little finger, thats all youve got. Have a nice day.

      • Jim

        Mark

If you think GWB didn’t get his position becasue he was well connected, you’ve been blinded by the right. I for one will claim with great certainty that I AM smarter then GWB, and so are the majority of the people in this blog, even you. You are wrong just about all the time, but at least you can express yourself with some logic, albeit based on invaled premises. GWB was “successful” because his dad is no idiot and was able to buy him an oil company, which he broke after insider trading himself into a small fortune, then mishandled a baseball team after getting polticians to get him a nearly free ball park and then get us into a situation in the middle east that has nearly broken the country. It’s not his Texas drawl that makes him sound like an idiot, it’s what he says with that Texas drawl. LBJ spoke with the same Texas accent, but he made sense. Lloyd Bentsen had the Texas accent and made Dan Quayle look like what he was, an idiot.

The only smart thing GWB did was listen to a few people smarter than him and inject some cash into the banking system he and his cronies let run amok to the detriment of the entire world. But if you want to continue to blame the media just go ahead. Did you ever think that the reason why they are all different from Fox News is that Fox is biased and the others are accurate? It does make more sense. The data also supports that view.

      • http://donthaveone Mark

Jim, you are whack. Bush ran the banks amuck? Excuse me. I believe that was Bill Clinton, Franklin Raines, Jamie Gorelick and Barney Frank thank you. Get your facts straight you lying left wing liberal pacifist appeaser. How can you openly lie like that? Do you think we all are stupid democrats that believe what ABC,NBC,CBS,CNN and MSNBC, or the LA Times and NY Times says? You would get more truth from the National Enquirer. And your smarter than President Bush? Funny, Ive never heard of you. Must have made it real far. And LBJ wasnt smart. He killed thousands of our young people escalating the Vietnam war so him and his cronies could make millions of dollars, and I know it, you know it, and the American people know it. I still happen to think he had something to do with offing Kennedy, as he was a power hungry foul mouthed man. Dont give this creton credit like that. His intelligence paled next to Mr. Bush. Thats a fact. And Lloyd Bentsen, what a crook. You sure surround yourself with losers and somehow use them as examples that someone is to look up to? FAIL.

Well, Smilee…Our Conservative “Joke”, beat your Liberal “Joke” hands down in a debate! The reason the Democrats won, was not because of Palin. As much as I admire McCain, he was not the right candidate for the Republicans…and he is the reason we lost.

Palin-McCain would have won hands down. The republicans blew up by running a 90 year old guy. Big mistake. Sarah would have whupped your boy. 2012 you will see. Of course, your dems will have obama thrown under the bus way before that.

I’m not 100% behind Sarah, but she is smarter than the average liberal there’s no doubt of that. So let me ask if she is such a joke and a dunce “Why are the Dem’s so afraid of her”. You say the Dem’s are not afraid of her. Then why are they always filing false charges against her. Fifteen in Alaska at last count (which were all tossed out for lack of evidence), and one more since he has resigned the office. Why are they always trying to degrade her. I’ll tell you why. They are flat scared of her. If they believe she was such a dunce, then why not just shut up about her and let her show her stupidity.

      • Smilee

They have not been proven false as yet, we say bring her on in 2012, that should insure an Obama landslide. The ethics probe was a republican doing, Afraid of her must be the joke of the day. She has been her own worst enemy and has degraded herself the must. Weather we shut up or not her stupidity will show though. She does not even have the stamina to finish her first term, and you want her to be president.

You ignorant, immoral Democrats drive me nuts. It has been so long since you did anything worthwhile, that you can’t recognize an admirable gesture when it hits you in the face! It is because of the foolishness of the liberal idiots slinging these lawsuits and accusations at her continually, that she was forced (in good conscience) to give up her Governor position.
She can be much more useful to this Country (including Alaska), as a Citizen. She clearly demands attention from the “Left”, “Right” and “Middle”. It doesn’t matter if she runs in 2012 or 2016…You all know she will be in the White House someday, and that clearly scares you.

Love of family, Love of God. American through and through, and yet you left wing liberals got so afraid you had to immorally tell lies and bring false charges, that resulted in her resigning to go to work as a civilian where she can make enough money to fight these false allegations you (WORD REMOVED FOR OFFENSIVE CONTENT) have brought against it. Its going nowhere, because there is nothing there, except the fear of the left. Oh, she will be exhonerrated of all the bunk you guys created, then she will come back and slap your sorry (WORD REMOVED FOR OFFENSIVE CONTENT) in 2012. If she runs, your done. He divided communities in Chicago, where he was supposed to be a community organizer, but he caused big divides there, what with decided some were worth and some werent. Heck man, if Sarah would have been #1 and McCain the VP, we wouldnt be hurting like we are now. Young folks learn your lessons. You got laid off, because you voted in these tax monsters. No, I assure you that not ALL Minnesotan’s have lost their minds. There are tons of us who are sick over this whole thing. Many of us are very responsible and have written to our reps. and have protested many of the things happening in our nation. We will continue to do so. Try not to lump us all in one big pot. There are still lots of good conservative people here. We just can’t seem to beat the masses of people moving into our cities for the huge welfare handouts our state is stupidly known for.

Pawlenty’s office released these statistics on welfare this spring and it said as many moved into the state on welfare as people who were on welfare moved out of the state last year making it a wash. There was no net increase in the welfare load from out of state persons last year. Just though you would like to know the truth. I know in the last legislation session conservatives where trying to make that argument then shortly after session these numbers were released making this argument bogus. JUST THE FACTS, I take no position.

      • Chris

While I’m glad that we lost as many as we gained (that one year) it doesn’t change the fact that we still have tons…. many that shouldn’t even be on welfare. I know because my husband worked at a downtown bank where they came and stood in line to cash their welfare checks. They used to laugh at him and tell him he was stupid for working when he could be getting free money like they were. I feel sorry for them as they don’t even realize they are being kept like pets for their voting power.

      • dan irwin

        I live in California.
The problem is with the Constitution’s 2/3rds vote required to pass a budget.

A small minority has a large majority, by the balls and we wouldn’t want it any other way. If you rely on the government to survive or prosper, your done.

Soon, we’ll reinstate vagrancy laws and debtors prison and incarcerate all the undesirables, sherking all our responsibility and finally balancing the budget.

The proposition the we voted on…? 8 in Nov was about restricting the rights (WORD REMOVED FOR OFFENSIVE CONTENT), having noting to do with the 2/3rds majority needed to pass a budget, set out in the Constitution, which probably Brown will change after Arnold leaves. The Constitution and amendments were written years ago. The problem now, is that no one wants to compromise.

Whats next, Charles Manson for mayor of St. Paul?

Of course they have. Ventura and now Franken. Yep, pretty much lost their minds.

    • Kevin D

      John,
If I remember correctly the budget was balanced for the first time in the past three decades under a democratic president, and the country had a surplus when Bush took office. It was only during the 8 years of so-called conservative rule that our country was driven into sky high deficits. Now, I’m no party pusher because I think our dual-party system of governance is corrupt and broken no matter what your affiliation, but if you’re going to post something, check your facts buddy.

      Kevin D

      • Bob

I also watched C-SPAN at that time and saw congress spending moneu like a drunken sailor on a week end liberty. T only Senator who had any scense was Orin Hatch. Who said that the surpluses will not last BUT these increasas in social spending will last forever. Then what?

      • Smilee

Since when did a trillion dollar war in Iraq become known as social spending these republicans at this time cut social spending, borrowed money to fight a war in Iraq that should not have been fought and give the top five percent of the citizens a tax break which they also borrowed to finance so they now pay a lower percent tax rate than anyone else. When he came into office he was operating on Clinton’s final budget which had a surplus as Kevin D said, Bush scuttled that in his first budget and by time he got to his last he had managed to have accumulated the biggest budget and debt in our history to say nothing of leaving the economy in the tank and spinning down ward, six of his years had republicans controlling congress and the last two years the senate Democrats controlled by one and under the senate filibuster rules this gave in effect 100 % blocking power to the republicans and they used it and set a record for that. Congress in effect made this 8 years period under total republican rule, That’s why we are in this mess today, time will tell if either party can turn it around but as long as all congress can do if fight do not hold your breathe.

      • Arthur

The budget was not balanced. It was just a paper trick. You were deceived by the liberals in charge. There were no surpluses, no matter what Clinton and the news media told you. The last time the budget was balanced you were not even a twinkle in anybody’s eye yet.

        Arthur Reply:

Were where you, LET ME SET YOU STRAIGHT. even the republicans bragged about it being a surplus and a balanced budget at this time, in fact they took credit for forcing Clinton to do so, and it was passed by a republican congress as a compromise with Clinton at his insistence. THAT’S WHAT REALLY HAPPENED Its funny how so many people here without knowing what they are talking about blame the democrats or Obama for everything even when the facts say other wise.

      • Charlene Bedford

As long as this country has a deficit, there is no surplus. As far as I know, the deficit was alive and well under Clinton. Saying that this country had a surplus after Clinton is like saying, “Well, I know I’ve got this stack of bills, but hey, I have a few dollars left over from my paycheck, so I have a surplus to spend on something I want.” I don’t believe there was a surplus, no matter who says it’s so.

By the way, to all those people who love to bash Bush and blame him for EVERYTHING under the sun and moon … you just wait. One day, his name will be vindicated, and you will learn that he was right. For all of you who are thinking, “This lady is crazy,” one day in the future you will remember this post.

      • PSK

Arthur, you are absolutely correct in your reply.

      • http://donthaveone Mark

Also, with Clinton’s smoke and mirrors tricks, and his lying press of ABC,NBC,CBS,CNN and MSNBC, they say what the dems tell them to say. How much money would you say Bill Clinton had to play with, when he cut our military in half and left it in a crippled state, and cut our intelligence in half, to where the terrorist came into this country and milled about freely and we didnt know it, which directly led to 9-11. How many billions of dollars did Clinton have to play with, to show having a surplus. Hell man, Ive never been a politician, but let me cut the military and intelligence community in half, and I could balance the stinking budget. But Id rather not. I want a strong military and good intelligence to catch these guys. Clinton didnt care, and look at all the bombings that happened against us under his command. Bill Clinton, the left wings hero, was the most damning man ever to sit in the White House. We will be paying for the crap he did for years to come. He was a (WORD REMOVED FOR OFFENSIVE CONTENT).

      • Lee

Arthur, I have read your comments.

First Off, I am a Disabled Desert Storm Veteran, and like many of my fellow servicemembers, we were highly concerned that Bush Jr, would get us into a lot of trouble with Iraq, His Father, who I served Under, Knew what would happen if we were to chase Saddam back to Bagdad, It’s too bad that Jr, didn’t listen to his father. What Bush did in Afghanistan, was disrespectful to our troops, our allies, and the Afghan people, Bush Abandoned all to go after Saddam. He violated his Oath, he let Bin Laden go free and also allowed the Taliban and al-quida to regroup, and Now, they are trying to take back afghanistan to continue their terrorist training camps.

Secondly, I saw the red flags go up when Bush/Chaney and the Republicans convinced our Supreme Court to Ignore the Constitution and “APPOINT” Them to the highest office in the Land. The next red flag went up when Bush took a zero deficit and a 700 billion surplus and gave their corporate contributors Tax cut, after Tax cuts, as well as deregulating the whole Corporate ranks, which allowed them to charge what they wanted in return for their services, Bush eliminated the system of Checks and Balances that would have prevented the Economic downfall beginning in 2007, but can’t blame just Bush, Companies wasted and wrecklessly gave bonuses and spent their profits instead of reinvesting into their company.
This is where our trouble began, and this is where we need to start to fix it.

The next red flags went up together, First Bush approved Torture, and he didn’t realize that whatever he approved to do, could be done to fellow Americans, The Geneva Convention also Protects US. Stretched his Authorization for afghanistan to go into Iraq(NOT APPROVED BY CONGRESS), Bush, Rumsfield, Chaney, and many others used False and tampered with Intelligence, to Attack Iraq. Bush Lied and mislead Congress(whose members were threatened with withholding of pet projects if they spoke out against it),Lied to the UN and the World.
Bush with 100% support of Republican Congress violated many Laws,
-First off, Their Oath of Office
        -Geneva Convention on Torture
-International War Crimes Act, which states, That no nation has the right to pre-emptivly attack another soverign nation unless that nation is in Immediate danger, and with proper evidence. (Bush had none of the requirements)
-International war Crimes Act, on Human Rights
And the Biggest charge of all, for letting binLaden, Taliban, and al-quida go free, in the military it would be a courts-martial offenses, example
        1)Conduct Unbecoming an Officer
2)Giving comfort and aid to the enemy
        3) AWOL/Leaving one’s duty Post
This is what Bush did, and had he ever spent time on duty in the guard he would have known this.

Now many Republicans will say, “Clinton Lied” Yes he did, but Clinton’s Lies didn’t cause the deaths of 4600 servicemembers, and thousands more wounded. Clinton’s Lies didn’t start an Illegal war. Think about it.

As for health Care, It has to begin with the Bush tax cut roll back, and those paying taxes would be paying the same as they did before Bush took office. Secondly, The President and the Congress needs to re-establish a Regulatory Commission to Over see companies, and to set guidelines on how much they could charge americans for Insurance coverage, another suggestion is to get health insurance like you get car, home, etc., The Commission could also set levels for Drug companies and Credit Card Companies, And the money saved by rolling back the Bush tax giveaways, can be used for programs or to start paying down the deficit.

The point is this, Apparently Clinton with a bi-partisan congress were able to come together to not only provide a surplus for the next Administration, but they managed to Balance the Budget, and get the deficit to ZERO

        Then Bush took Office.

In Closing, It disgusts me and many others, that even though the Republicans Tried to destroy America, Including their misleading and ruthless tatics in the 2004 election, The Republicans will stop at nothing to get their way, They will do whatever it takes, Lie, cheat and Steal? Can’t put it pass them, They damaged our financial system, our corporate and banking system, And damaged our Reputation to the world. They brought dishonor to the Office of the President and to the Country And the worst part of all, Now we got to Clean up another Republican mess and

Is that the Cowardly Republicans Refuse to be Accountable for the Last 8 Years.
The Republicans Refuse to Accept Responsibility for their and President Bush’s actions. And I believe that the Republicans still haven’t gotten the message, yelled loud and clear last November, Because if they had, They would not be trying to make President Obama fail, The Republicans should work with the President. The Republicans need to change their ways, because until they Grow-Up and Learn to Accept Responsibility for their Actions, they will not be returned to office. They also need to listen to the citizens, Instead of Only coming to us, making promises just to get our vote, and then they stick us on the back burner until our votes are needed again

Fact 1 & 2 are correct, number 3,4,& 5 are skewed and a joke, want to bet there will be no landslide in 10, Dems may loose a few but still remain in charge and in 12 get ready for the Johnson 64 type of landslide for Obama.

Smilee is confused, because he cannot see Obama as a failure, because they both look the same. Obama will be sacrificed by his own party before the next election happens, because everything they are doing is wrong and is blowing up in their faces, and I know how democrats work. They can never be held responsible for what they do. Obama isnt the one making all these decisions on what to do right now, hell man, he doesnt have a clue. The democrats as a whole are reaching for straws. They havent a clue what to do. They will collectively gather to save face, and throw Obama under the bus. You watch and see. It’ll be better than a sitcom.

You have to be really creative to give republicans credit for the Clinton surpluses, and blame the democrats for the Bush (and Reagan) monster deficits.
Bush had congress for most of his term in office. He never vetoed a spending bill. He cut taxes to spur the economy, but most of the cuts went to the people who needed it least and did little increase economic activity. He also blew nearly a trillion dollars on a war to destroy Iran’s worse enemy. Blame the dems – who are far from perfect.

      • Norm

        Yeah Kevin.

      • Robin, Arcadia, IN

Kevin… Well that will never happen again in my lifetime, or my children’s, and maybe not even my grandbaby’s lifetime (a balanced budget or surplus). And Bush may have got the ball rolling on the bail outs, but Barry has spent money that isn’t even printed yet. This is not going to solve the problem. It is going to get a lot worse before it gets better, if it ever gets better!

      • DaveH

        Kevin,
Check your facts. The budget was balanced in large part by passing mandates on the states. Thus getting the costs off the federal budget and onto the states’ budgets.

I agree with you. I am writing somebody every day. I attend every teaparty that I can to find out what more I can do and then I do it. We have to fight back or lose this country. The best thing that we can do though is turn back to the God of Abraham,Issac, And Jacob and let him join the fight. I think one of the reasons were in this situation to begin with is because we turned our backs on him by taking prayer out of our schools, the 10 commandments out of public places, even a nativity scene off the courthouse lawn. I guarentee that if we put the God of our forefathers back in action that this fight will be over before it even begins. God is still on the Throne. We have to quit making the name of Jesus Christ a dirty word though because I know that Allah doesn’t live in this country.

I beg to differ with you but there was prayer in school everyday! I started my school day by saying the pledge of allegiance and that was followed daily by a prayer. If you are going to be rude to people you should at least have your facts straight. We said prayers at assemblies, at football games,at all school functions. Taken as a whole and in context the I do not believe you read this website correctly, but it does not matter because it is the Supreme Court that interprets the meaning of the constitution and not documents such as you quote on this website. The Supreme Court has made it clear on more that one occasion they have interpreted the 1st amendment as church and state being separate. I know most conservatives disagree and wish to inject their own interpretation on it but neither make it true and it is the court that has the final say and they say you are wrong.

      • Smilee

Patricia Henson Reply: July 17th, 2009 at 6:26 pm

This was done in quite a few public schools until it was brought to the Supreme Court and they interpreted the Ist Amendment as church and state being separate and ordered that prayer and other religious activities could not take in places owned by the public. That is why it is no longer allowed.

      • http://donthaveone Mark

I beg to differ, when I grew up, we prayed in school. Public school at that. We all prayed in school after Kennedy got shot, and many other times as well. We said my country tis of thee everyday, you know, One Nation Under God. Yeah, everyday. Separation was supposed to mean the government couldnt stop you from practicing your religion, not that it is supposed to stop you from practicing Christianity, but allow all others. Thats what it has developed into. And you expect God to stand by and bless us while our leaders are doing this. Right.

      • http://donthaveone Mark

The good book says, “If my people pray, I will heal their land”. We need to pray. I do not like Obama, I do not think he is an American citizen. I know he is not a Christian as I have heard him refer to his muslim religion. He offers nothing good to the leadership and continuity of this country well being. However, I pray for him and his cabinet everyday, that they would be influenced by God and to make Godly decisions, and to raise up the name of Jesus Christ in this country. Some times God’s answer to prayer is no, but I will still pray for him daily, even though I want him out of there now, I will pray for him. That is what I am charged to do. I do not like him and what he stands for and what he has done, but again, I still pray for him and the democrats to have their eyes and ears opened to see what they are doing. Maybe God will answer, maybe He wont, but I will daily ask.

      • Patricia Henson

Thank you Mark. You are doing exactly what the Bible says to do by praying for those people leading our country. I get so angry at them sometimes that I forget to do just that. I would hate to see anyone spend eternity in Hell so I should do better, asking God to touch those peoples hearts and maybe do a better job touching mine. I’m glad that you are remembering them in your prayers and I will try to do a better job remembering them in mine. Thanks again for the food for thought.

As a Minnesotan who has read both courts findings, opinions and orders (and followed this story daily) that totally refutes all of Chip Wood’s opinions in this article and say nothing more to me but that his intent is nothing more than to distort the facts of what really happened in MN. Another example of conservative fiction that is becoming less credible in this country every day. If you have an open mind I challenge you to read the courts findings, opinions and orders, they are on line, just Google it. Most experts that have looked at it disagree with this man opinions. We do not deny it was a dirty campaign but the campaigns do not conduct our elections nor do Accorn (they only register voters and have no influence on how anyone votes, we still do it privately in a voting booth after the Secretary of State’s office has verified the voters validity, they have been accused of registration fraud not voter fraud but conservatives have a lot of trouble understanding this difference, in MN no one has been charged) so this has nothing what so ever to do with the election results and reasonable and honest people know and understand this.

    • mrbenz7

If no one has been charged in Minnesota, it is because those who made sure this election was bought and paid for made sure they had their ducks in a row! Votes that went for that IDIOT Franken has LESS credibility and verifiability than mine, which went for Coleman! I read the courts findings and totally disagree with them. How the courts could have come to their decision relying on a Secretary of State who is a known Democratic strategist and who bases his decisions on what is best for the party and not the people of the State proves bias. Since dissenting voices were removed from the proceedings, nothing about this entire election was right or good for the country! The odds were stacked against the voters of Minnesota from the start and no amount of “open minds” will change the facts!

      • Smilee

        mrbenz7 Reply: July 17th, 2009 at 11:24 am

So, you claim to have read the the opinions, then how is it you missed the fact that it had nothing to do with the Secretary of State, the court held a trial that he had no part in except as a witness and the court ruled on the recount of which he was only one person of five and the only democrat on the panel and all agreed on this count including the republicans on it, the trial which took about five weeks and it results by the three judge panel unanimously found the recount to be legally accurate and then Coleman appealed to the MN Supreme Court that found the lower courts findings totally correct and affirmed it totally. If you cannot understand these court documents and you think it was a review of the Secretary of State, and it was not, your not being able to agree with it appears to be based on a biased approach rather than one looking to understand the reality of it and approaching it with a open and unbiased mind which these judges did. You appear to be a sore loser and have to hit below the belt to express yourself. Five on the recount board, three judges held the trial and five supreme court judges reviewed it, that is 13 people total and all thirteen came to the same conclusion that Franken won and only two of these persons are known to democrats, two unknown and the rest of other parties. If you want to make a argument against it you would be well advised to use facts instead of just off the cuff statements that sure appear to make you look biased.

      • http://donthaveone Mark

Come on Smilee, you are smarter than that. Ive read some of your posts. You know as well as I do, that JFK beat Nixon in one of the closest, if not the closest election ever, because of several thousands of votes from dead people in Chicago. Apparently they do vote, and some often. And this isnt the only time this has been documented. But you know, because of all the major networks being democratic mouthpieces, you dont get this spewed out all over like it should be. Man oh man, had a republican or anyone else done this, Holy cow, it would have been all over. But Kennedy was a democrat, and a filthy rich democrat, with a very dangerous Joe Kennedy and cronies of his around, and people would have ended up dead. So yes, dead people do vote. And apparantly so do illegal aliens.

      • Dave

the Democrats must think so. They keep on registering them>

      • Lou

Not only can dead people vote, but strangely , they all vote Democrat. I guess that’s due to the fact that their brains have disintegrated.

You remind me of my sister. My older brother had wrangled (through coercion) the executorship of my mother’s estate, and then he proved to be quite a thief and a liar in the years prior to my mother’s passing. I asked my sister to help me prove to a judge that he was not to be trusted. She said “I will side with whoever gets me the money the quickest!”.

Research your history pal. You tell me your educated. Then research it. Thousands of dead people registered in Chicago and voted for John F. Kennedy when he narrowly beat Nixon. Its a fact of history. His dad Joe was one of the most crookedest, if that is a word, bastards to ever walk the face of the earth. Ever heard of “The sins of the fathers shall be revisited on to the third generation”. Any wonders as to what has happened to all the Kennedy’s? Could it just be back luck? No, I dont think so. My Father in Heaven has written it differently, and the proof is in the pudding.

The MN senate election was the most closely reviewed election in the country last year and no one who was involved with these reviews including courts found one iota of evidence of what you allege, at least not here in MN and how do you know what any voters knows about the candidates or who they were, do you personally know all these Acorn recruits??? Further the law does not require you to know who the candidates are to vote, how many judges on the ballot do you know???

      • http://donthaveone Mark

Are these guys, the same guys that are so green they decided to up the bio-diesel in the school buses, where the stuff gels up at around 20 degrees, and all the school buses froze up so kids stood out in the cold for a bus that didnt show up. So then they built all these storage buildings that they heat 24 hours a day to keep the buses from freezing up, and leave the rest run all night that wont fit inside, so they dont freeze up? Probably the same guys. So now they burn fuel all day and night to heat these builidings, and run the other buses all night to keep them from freezing, so they dont have to use real diesel fuel because its bad for the environment? This my friends, is Minnesota politics. Look into this, its all true. And they elected first Jesse Ventura, and now Al Franken. Im staying out of that state forever. Scares me.

Smilee says: ‘the law does not require you to know who the candidates are to vote’
That pretty much sums it up. A virtual unknown screams I will bring hope and change. How many people do you think actually took the time to find out about Barry? Hope and change. Nobody knew what he meant, but it was a great slogan and got him elected. The biased media never asked him what he meant or how he was going to go about it. With a Democratic congress already in place, he knew he could do nearly anything he was told to do by the powers that be. He is not running this country. That is my belief and opinion.

Robin, Arcadia, IN Reply: July 18th, 2009 at 7:01 am

The law does not require you to know, does not mean they did not know. With Obama, after, almost two years, daily in the spotlight every one knew who he was, and those of us who paid attention knew him long before this, for all we know everyone could have taken the time find out about him. Most people knew what he meant and those that didn’t either didn’t pay attention or were incapable of understanding someone that intelligent and well educated and it may just have went right over their heads, probably were those who didn’t vote for him. Your belief and your opinion by your own words demonstrates quite clearly that they are based on mere assumptions and speculations. You know what they say people who ass/u/me they make an ass out of you and me, well, in this case you anyway. He is running the country, how he is running might drive may you nuts but that does not mean he is not running the country, after all he is yours and mine’s President, so get used to it.

I did check it out and ACCORN is only being prosecuted in Nevada and in the other states it is former accorn employees who ACCORN fired and not ACCORN itself that are being prosecuted. It is for registration fraud not voter fraud, ACCORN has nothing to do with elections or voting in any state that is the Secretary of State offices sole job. In MN every voter is verified by the Secretary of States office before their registration is approved and it is supposed to be that way in all states. You really should get you facts straight before you shoot your mouth off and if you do not understand the facts ( In this case the difference between registration fraud and voter fraud) your probably best off keeping it shut.

    • Tom

Acorn is a big part of the fraud the is perpetuated by the liberal cheats. They pick up the pimps, hookers, druggies, drunks, mentally ill and whatever else that they can find on the street. They show them how to vote, tell them who to vote for (ie:who will solve all of their problems) and deliver them to the voting station. These are the folks that tipped the scales and got Al Franken and Obama elected. Bush was a big disappointment, he never fought back against the lies that were spread about him, so pretty soon a majority of the people believed them. Then he starts the bailouts. He ended up looking like a clumsy fool.

What pisses you off is that ACCORN registers voters and you fear they will vote democrat and you would love nothing better than to disfranchise these people so as to increase the changes of republicans of winning and fear them voting is the reason you lost in 06 & 08 and you did lose these elections and this drives you nuts and you can’t seem to help yourself from telling these lies so you can convince your self of this fiction, when the real reason your candidates lost is because most of the voters wanted them too and you know you are are stuck with a bunch of losers weather you want to admit it or not. • Smilee

You again show your stupidity and lack of factual knowledge. If you cannot see that, and do not understand that, then sorry pal, you have no knowledge and understanding of any of this, and should bow out of the discussion. You know what they are about, but you want to hide it. Why? For what reason? You and I both know they are a unit of the democratic party. My God man, what you are saying, would be like me saying that Rush Limbaugh doesnt back the Republicans. Doyle,
The problem is that the liberal media always supports the most liberal candidates, be they Democrat or Republican. Those of us who love individual liberty need to spread the word on this to everyone we know. The voters need to ignore the endorsements of the media and start electing the right people.
What the Democrat dupes don’t understand is that very rich people control the media, and they are going to promote whatever gives them more money or power. Rich people don’t want competition, so they champion lots of regulation which stifles small business as they can’t afford the extra staff needed to comply with all the regulations.
Wake up Democrat voters! You are being used. The magicians are performing sleight of hand to get your support. There are a lot of good Democrats out there who just aren’t getting truthful information. Read alternative magazines, such as Reason, or Newsmax, or Forbes. Get a clue!

Actually, the Americans wanted change, because the TV kept telling them change change change for 2 years. Its called propaganda, and it is very effective. Its like advertising, very powerful. Case in fact, Miller Lite. Now I dont know if your a beer drinker, but is the worst tasting stuff ever called beer. I worked at a brewery for 8 years, and told our brewmaster that this crap tasted like I poured a half a glass of beer, and filled it up with water. He was a brewmaster at Miller for 13 years. His reply was “Duh, thats how they make it”. They brew a half kettle and fill it up with water. But since the TV has all these funny commercials, and tell’s us how good it is, generations grow up hearing about it, and when they are old enough to drink, they buy it, because they have been told its good for so long. Yeech, nasty tasting stuff. Such is the democrat propaganda machine on the national networks. They told you all how bad Bush was, how bad this war was, just lie after lie after lie, and people bought into it. Now look what we are stuck with. An inferior product that is leaving a bad taste in our mouths again and again and again. Maybe we should get educated as to what is really happening, who the candidates really are, and what they stand for, rather than listen to what the square brain sucker in our living rooms tell us. That would be refreshing for a change.

Dear Mr. President Please find below my

suggestion for fixing America’s economy Instead of giving
billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties
and unearned bonuses, use the following plan You can call it the
Patriotic Retirement Plan There are about 40 million people over
50 in the work force. Pay them $2 million apiece severance for early retirement
      with the following stipulations
      1) They MUST retire or start a new business. Forty
million plus new job openings – Unemployment fixed
      2) They MUST buy a new
American CAR. Forty million cars ordered – Auto Industry fixed

      3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage – Housing Crisis
Fixed. It can’t get any easier than that If more
money is needed, have all members of Congress and their cronies pay their
      taxes..
The economy could be fixed for under 100 million dollars….and they have already spent how much with no results?Who’s interests are our elected officials looking after?…Certainly not ours.

‘They say, “The road to ruin is paved with good intentions.” and we keep making potholes.’

        YOUR SO WRIGHT

      • Robin, Arcadia, IN

Average Joe… It will never happen. It is simple, not full of pork, and not long enough. If Congress got something that easy to vote on they would have time to read it. And, it makes too much sense! You must remember we are not dealing with an administration that uses common sense. They want to keep things complicated; it keeps the ‘little people’ from knowing what is really going on.

      • DaveH

OMG, I can’t believe you guys buy the (WORD REMOVED FOR OFFENSIVE CONTENT) that there are a fixed number of jobs in the economy. The number of jobs is limited only by our ingenuity. And people are amazingly ingenious when unhampered by limitless regulations.
In fact, when you pull productive people out of an economy, there is less produced. When there is less produced, prices go up. We all get lower standards of living. After-tax money was taken out of the Social Security recipients hands and put into the hands of a bunch of politicians who just wasted a large portion of that money. And then to add insult to injury, if they die early, their heirs don’t even get the remainder. A large part of the hard work I did over my lifetime was done with the mindset of making my children’s lives easier than mine was.
As we take more and more incentives to produce away from people, then they will produce less. As they produce less, we all have less. That’s why Socialism fails wherever it is taken to extreme. If you really want to benefit in the future, taking their money away is not the answer. That will work only one time. Then they will join the class of the unproductive, and we will all lose. What we need to concentrate on is how do we encourage people to be productive. There is no doubt in my mind, that can best be achieved by getting the government out of business decisions.

      • DaveH

LOL, now I realize why you attacked me Average. And I should have a “bowl of stupid”?
2 million X 40 million is 80 trillion dollars. Sure, we should increase the National Debt by 80 trillion dollars and in doing so take 40 million producers out of the workforce. Oh yeah, that would be great for the economy! You are aptly named.

      • Average Joe

        DaveH,
I’m not sure where you went to school sir, but where I come from 2 million X 40 million people equals……..80,000,000…that is…..80 million…..maybe you already had that extra bowl…open mouth…switch feet?…A simple calculator can help you with this problem…they are cheap and actually work….counting on your fingers does not seem to be your fortay…or was it a abbacab?…The problem is simple…2X40=80..add your zeros, 000,000…wow…80 million…maroon (mispelled on purpose…just for you) ;-) Have another bowl!

      • Average Joe

        DaveH,
To make it even more simple for you to understand, If you give 40 million people 1 million dollars each….would that not be 40 million dollars?….So if you double that amount, would it not equal 80 million dollars? ;-)

        DaveH,

I don’t remember Reagan crying about the 15% unemployment and 20%+ interest rates he inherited from the peanut moron. Everything, and I mean everything, bad is blamed on Bush. I am surprised that he hasn’t been identified as the “fuzzy figure on the grassy knoll”. For those of you not old enough to remember this “fuzzy figure”, he was suspected by some to be part of a conspiracy to kill Kennedy.

Clinton ran balanced budgets for several years and was a better pres. than Bush. He was a little sleezy but at least he had a brain.

      • Average Guy

You guys always forget the facts. Congress spends the money, not the President. Clinton served during a period when the Republicans controlled the spending. That’s is why there was a surplus (on paper only) budget. Of couse under Bush the Republicans became “Democrat Lite” and blew on the money away. The big fall was Bush’s last two years when the Dems were in control of the money.

      • dassieland

Sorry you idiot but it was the Liberal Congressmen/women that caused it, handing out all these handouts (Programs to freeloaders) for their votes. Bush did a terrific job while in office, protected your sorry liberal arses. President Bush was “Magnificient”. God help us during the next 4 years as Hussein “Obama” will probably give the terrorist the Blue print to wipe us out. It is obvious him and his darling wife is making practice runs with Air Force one so they can get out in time; as they have a place to jet of to “KENYA”, his place of birth.

And he married Hillary – and he has a brain. Ha Ha Ha. Your a comedian.

Clinton didnt balance the budget. Smoke and mirrors. He cut the military and intelligence in half, and left us vulnerable. We got punched, slapped and bombed again and again. Just because you like Barry Soetoro, or Barrack Obama, or whomever he is, doesnt mean I have to. Im an American, and really, I would just expect the law to be adherred to by our top politicians, and make sure the president is a lawful citizen, and since they cant do that, I choose not to support them. That and the fact that he hasnt a clue what he is doing, has caused unemployment to go to 10 percent, has weakened us in our enemies eyes, has kissed our enemies ass and apologized for us being a successful nation, has spent more in less than 10 months that the previous admin spent in 8 years, and he and his ilk bitched about that during election time. All he can do is point the finger at others. The only plan Ive seen him exhibit, is to give our hard earned money to GM and the UAW, who have over and over proven they dont know how to properly run a business. No, this guy and his ilk, including wankers like Stuart Smalley got no business governing anything. None at all.

Smilee… Respecting the office of President is one thing; respecting the man is another. I don’t like Barry. He is showing his agenda and a lot of Democrats are seeing him for what he really is. His distain for America is disturbing. I only hope and pray, which I do for all our leaders, including Barry, that common sense will return. That they are seeking the help of God to make decisions that affect so many. The presidency is huge. Barry said when campaigning that he would seek the counsel of his wife Michelle. Wow! I sure don’t take a lot of comfort in that! This is the woman who has never been proud of her country until her husband became popular. Now that she is the first lady, do you think she is happy and grateful to be an American, not to mention proud?

      • David

He may be president but as soon as he starts paying a little more respect to the Constitution of this once great country, I will think more about respect back to him.

      • http://donthaveone Mark

Your right I do not have to like the guy, nor the anti american things he is doing. However, I do pray for the guy and his admin. Question is, did any of you lefties ever say a prayer for good things to happen for Bush and his admin. Id be surprised. I would like good things to come from this guy, because it would be good for all of us. I just dont see how, not directly because of him, but because of the direction of pacifism and appeasement this party is on. Facts say pacifism and appeasement are a direct road to defeat. You just dont win with that approach, never have, and I dont think one ever will. In this world, someone is always waiting to take advantage, and if someone is going to be a pacifist and an appeaser, they are going to be the one getting taken advantage of. Thats just how it is. I didnt make it up, and I didnt write the rule on this, thats how it is.

      • http://donthaveone Mark

        Then there’s GW Bush.
His daddy paid him into Yale. He was a great cheerleader and distinguished member of the Skull and Bones society (rich boy club) and earned a wapping BA degree. He went on to Harvard, thanks to dad, and got a MBA. That’s probably the best anything he ever did. But it wasn’t a law degree, and his grades were not great. He also had a little drinking problem, but good old dad was there for him. Just for fun, dad got him into the Texas ANG, as an officer and got him to pilot training. The cost to train one jet pilot (T-45 line) is $1,439,754 as reported by a study by the UCLA School of Law. It’s a little unclear how he ended his military career, but he saw no active duty. After a few failures, he “got religion”. Most sinners do. From then on he prayed his way along. When all else fails pray.
After 911, George W saw an opportunity to help his Dad. Saddam Hussein had always ridiculed George HW, and even put his picture on a hotel doormat.
George junior really showed Saddam a thing or two. Unfortunately, It has cost the country over 4000 fine young men and women dead, untold wounded, and nearly a trillion taxpayer dollars so far. And Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11.

      • http://donthaveone Mark

Boy, am I glad his dad paid for his education, so that us tax payers didnt get stuck paying for it like we did Barrack Obama’s. And as far as our security goes, Bin Laden, Saddam, Ahmindajab, whatever his name is, they are all the same guy. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. They all want us dead, and you want to apologize to them, go ahead you pacifist. Pacifism always, and I mean always, leads to defeat. Im a man who is glad Bush was a man and showed them that enough is enough. Unfortunately, we have another pacifist in there who is busy kissing butt and being afraid, all rolled up the fetal position, while these terrorist are laughing their arse’s off planning their next bombing. Thank God Bush took the precautions he did, and I fully believe we will be safe through Obama’s four years because of it. However, the dems will cut back and undo these security precautions, and we will get hit probably the first or second year into the next election, which everyone knows after this fiasco, that it wont be another libtard democrat. So take your tranquilizer, and sit by the campfire with bin laden and sing kum ba ya, and tell him how so so sorry you are that we are such a successful nation. Loser.

Friday, October 11, 2002 Posted: 12:35 PM EDT
WASHINGTON (CNN) — In a major victory for the White House, the Senate early Friday voted 77-23 to authorize President Bush to attack Iraq if Saddam Hussein refuses to give up weapons of mass destruction as required by U.N. resolutions.
Hours earlier, the House approved an identical resolution, 296-133.
The president praised the congressional action, declaring “America speaks with one voice.”
The Senate vote sharply divided Democrats, with 29 voting for the measure and 21 against. All Republicans except Sen. Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island voted for passage. In the House, six Republicans — Ron Paul of Texas; Connie Morella of Maryland; Jim Leach of Iowa; Amo Houghton of New York; John Hostettler of Indiana; and John Duncan of Tennessee — joined 126 Democrats in voting against the resolution.

Bush lied and congress bought it. But congress only authorized Bush to do his thing if necessary.

Smilee, what the hell? What do you mean why should he have to show his birth certificate? He can only do what congress and his cronies direct him to do. It is all blowing up, and they are going to throw him under the bus to save their hinies. Watch and see. You only know how to express your self in your own crated fantasized fiction, you do not know how to recognize the truth. Your president is a natural born citizen the vital statistics office in Hawaii has looked at their records and certified his birth certificate is valid and that he fact was born in Hawaii, in addition the courts have ruled that all these lawsuits claiming otherwise lack standing and the appeal to the Supreme Court refused to hear them and left standing the lower courts findings. The rest of your post does not require a response as it is nothing more than fiction in the standard conservative prattle. In another words 100& BS

        Average Joe Reply:
        July 19th, 2009 at 2:40 pm

Its you that does not keep abreast these lawsuits were dismissed because the plaintiff lacked standing and you cannot amend that, you could file a new lawsuit with different set of facts and I do not know if that has been done. The Supreme court refused to hear these cases and left standing the findings of the lower courts making this final. The long form is the form that is supplied to the vital statistics office from which they make the official certified birth certificate and it is on file but they do not release them as it is only the basis of the certified one that the office in this case says is a correct and accurate reflection of the long form and the official record, it is only the form the hospital furnishes the information to their office on.
If a new lawsuit is filed and it has standing then it will go to trial where it is filed and work its way up to the supreme court for review if appealed but its not likely this effort will ever succeed as it is nothing more than conservative fiction and by keeping it filed they can convince the likes of all those making that claim on here and other place in other words it is their method of keeping this conservative prattle ongoing by giving them reason to keep repeating this fiction and hope to all those who want so bad to believe this BS.. Wake up you are fighting a losing battle. Don’t blame me, what I say has no relevance on this matter I only passed on the facts and had no part in their creation

      • John Derrick

        Smilee:
You don’t know what you’re talking about as I’ve personally seen a copy of his “produced” “birth certificate” and it is only a “live-birth” certificate, not a “sealed” birth certificate. His mother was 8-months pregnant in Kenya and was not allowed to board a long-distance flight as it poses a risk of inducing labor….so….Obama’s mother traveled to Hawaii AFTER he was born and as he had no citizenship was only issued a “live-birth” certificate without a seal. This doesn’t qualify as birth-right “citizenship.”

        Get your facts straight…oh, wait…what am I thinking; left-wing liberals don’t rely on facts..just opinions…silly me.

Bottom line, if Obama has nothing to hide…why not produce evidence to put the matter to rest. By the way Mark….you are right, if Obama were a Republican, CNN, MSNBC, CBS, et al would be all over the story! The fact that the matter has been “hushed” brings suspicion does it not? As for which Party…who cares…law is law and regardless of which Party you represent, we ALL should agree that the law of the land supercedes all else.

David and Dickie, I will not respond directly to your statements as you quite clearly show us by your posts how little you understand what the Constitution is and does and also how little you understand how government works. David, you could of fooled me you sure talk like ditto head and ditto heads can only respond as their masters permit, its clear you both do that.

    • dan irwin

Dude do you read the papers? Might want to start.

      • Wally

What papers? The New York Times ? Good Grief.

      • dan irwin

Your right! No news is better than slanted news.

      • http://donthaveone Mark

Or the LA Times. ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC. You know, these days you will get more truth out of the National Enquirer than any of these so called media outlets. They are all owned by democrats, and are their propaganda machine. How do you think change change change worked? Thats right, the power of marketing. People heard it a billion times, and didnt get educated, and now look what is happening. Its sad.

      • http://donthaveone Mark

I cancelled my newspaper subscription because the only truth I could find in it was in the Sports section, and even those guys are cheating now. Dems own almost all the news outlets, and Im not supporting their left wing pacifist appeasing pants wetting agenda. I just say no.

      • Norm

If you want bias try Fox, Rush, Sean, O’rielly etc. etc.

      • http://donthaveone Mark

Actually Norm, quite the opposite. They truly are the only ones who will say bad things about their party when it needs said. The report the truth, whether we want to hear it or not. While ABC,NBC,CBS,CNN and MSNBC seem to have the belief that the democrats can do no wrong, and they do not report objectionally, and let us make up our own minds. They tell us how it is with their left wing agenda based opinions, so I stopped watching them also. Do you really not know Norm, why Fox has higher ratings then all these guys? Do you really not know? America wants the truth, and Fox News, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck seem to be the only ones with enough guts to deliver it. I myself, prefer the truth over agenda based material. Thats why I tune in to these guys, as to more Americans than the other left wing liberal biased channels.

      • Smilee

Judging by your responses here in that you refuse to listen to all sides and only listen to one side, Mark, is an admission on your part that you have a very closed mind and to keep from confusing it you listen only to FOX which does nothing to encourage thinking which I doubt you are capable of.

      • http://donthaveone Mark

To Smilee, no, actually, I just happen to be able to tell the difference between the truth and lies, as its not that hard to figure out. At least Fox lets me decide, whereas the others present it like its fact, when its their opinion, which is 90 percent of the time biased and wrong. I wont accept that. I know the truth, and wont stand for lies. Im not a democrat.

      • http://donthaveone Mark

      • Charlene Bedford

I’m not surprised…just ashamed of him for doing so. Of course, I believe he’d like to be one himself.

      • Jeanine Lane

I thought everyone had figured that one out by now. He has spent his life preparing for that. But the thing he signed to make him president for life would need a constitutional convention to become law. It is encouraging that many liberals are turning against him. they have stopped drinking the kool-aid.

      • Norm

And the former head of Pakistan, Pervez Musharraf, was not a dictator?

      • http://donthaveone Mark

Are you saying that just because Rush, Sean and Glenn Beck speak the truth and expose what the left wing liberals are up to, that this makes them dictators? I never realized that speaking the truth meant that. I always thought of a dictatorship as the kind of do as I say, not as I do type of thing, kind of what the democrats try to set up all the time. You know, where we dont have to be bothered with little things like the CONSTITUTION, you know, where the president needs to be a citizen, or we try to take away peoples rights to have guns, where we employ terrorist cells like ACORN to illegally register people to vote. Yeah, things like that are what I always believe dictatorship to smell like. Thanks for correcting me.

      • Norm

        Mark

You are a piece of work – one misguided dude.

Blaming corporate greed on Clinton is a real stretch.
Privately owned banks were ordering their employees to sign up people for mortgages. Even people who had no jobs, or never in their lives made enough to pay them up. They then packed the mortgages into group securities and sold them off, knowing full well they were worthless. Insurance giants like AIG insured the securities with money they didn’t have. One big Madoff ponzi scheme. Their was no government involvement and oversight, and that was the problem.

Of course in your narrow mind, everything evil is is political and caused by democrats. Clinton’s balanced budgets were because of the republican congress but all Bush’s stupidity was Clinton’s fault. Hmmm.

PS. “I’m a great American” Hannity ain’t. His presidential hopefuls George Allen, Richard Santorum, Tom Delay, Mark Sanford were all duds, just like him, you, and all you right wing extremists..

      • http://donthaveone Mark

Wow Norm, somebody’s angry. I would be too if I supported your guys. Take a nap and get over yourself.

      • http://donthaveone Mark

Sorry Norm, but if you were referring to the banks greeds and collapse, that was all Bill Clinton and the democrats, and you know its all true. However, yes I agree, there is and always will be corporate greed, as there is greed whereever there is accumulated large amounts of money. Always has been, always will be. Its the way of man. Not defending it, I think it is wrong, and corporate greed cannot be blamed on politics, its the problem of man. The problem escalates though, when politicians start taking money from business and pass things to benefit them if the politician gets money from it, then weve got this current problem, that plagues both the democrats and republicans, that these career politicians have got to go, as they are all in bed with special interest groups, and do things to benefit them and themselves, not the people. But when it comes to what happened with all these bank collapses, yes Bill Clinton and his cronies are the direct cause of it, and you and I both know the Bush admin called for an investigation two years before this happened, but Barney Frank was the head of the oversight committee on this, and shot down any investigation saying it wasnt needed. Cut in anyway you want Norm, but the dems set this up, fleeced it, and protected it, then watched it collapse. How many millions in bonuses did Franklin Raines and Jamie Gorelick give out, and to whom. Yeah, thats what I thought. I rest my case.

Russ, Sean and Glenn are the country’s biggest liars and they are hired to dictate to you and all others who are incapable of thinking for themselves. Them and those who hire them know that they can dictate to you what to do and say so as keep the conservative fiction alive and well in as many republicans as they can. Fortunately your ranks are down to a little over 20% of the voters and the country is finally realizing that they are spewing out nothing but lies and fiction but it stills works on you doesn’t it Mark but not 80% of us voters and that is why you are losing elections and will continue to unless you start thinking for yourself witch I doubt you are capable of based on your posts here. You certainly have the conservative talking points down but you do have trouble citing them in a manner that does not get them all jumbled up.

    • DaveH

Obama is strictly seeking as much power as he can. And his stupid followers think they are going to benefit, but most of them will suffer greatly. Look already at all the trips Barrack and Michele take at the taxpayer’s expense. If those were Corporate officers the envious class would be raising all kinds of hell. But since they think he is one of them, they support him with their head in the sand.

      • Norm

        Dave
The envious class? Some of these corporate (WORD REMOVED FOR OFFENSIVE CONTENT) almost destroyed this country. Making loans that a fool would never consider, and pocketing mega millions. That should make us all envious. If it wasn’t for the Bush and Obama bailouts we would be back in the dark ages.

      • DaveH

        Norm,
I agree, but read of copy of Thomas Sowell’s “The Housing Boom and Bust”. They were being strongly encouraged by the government to lend to marginal borrowers. In fact, I heard just recently that the government is doing more of the same right now. I think also that excess money creation by the Federal Reserve contributed to the rising prices (inflation). I agree that there are a lot of crooked corporate officers, but the government is not immune from disreputable employees. And the government has the ability to force us to buy or do things we don’t want. I really am not sure what’s going on, but it seems like corporations are more likely to get away with ripping off their shareholders than ever before, in spite of the increasing size of government. No system is perfect, but I think that a free-enterprise system with a much smaller government in the role of watchdog would produce a lot more level playing field than we have now.
Let me give you an example from my own experience. We had women and blacks in our work groups long before equal opportunity laws. Then I noticed that it became much rarer over the years after all the protection. I think the companies were afraid to give blacks and women jobs (unless they were very highly qualified) because of the possible legal ramifications if they didn’t work out. And I believe I am experiencing a similar situation now at age 60. It has been very difficult for me to find a job, and I am highly educated. Of course the small sample size of my experience doesn’t prove anything.
I believe that if government got the hell out of business, there would be less discrimination, not more. The companies that operated in a bigoted fashion would fall in the free marketplace to those that were smart enough to hire the best workers regardless of race or sex or age. Nowadays its the companies with the most political savvy that triumph instead of the companies with the best products. And everyone (outside of government) would benefit from a much more productive country with fewer regulatory hurdles.
As the government grows ever larger there are fewer people to do real productive work. In fact, I call government “negatively productive” because they not only don’t produce desirable products for the people, but much of the time they make it harder for people to be happy by harassing them.

      • http://donthaveone Mark

If it wasnt for Clinton, we wouldnt have needed the bank bailouts, right Franklin Raines, Jamie Gorelick and Barney Frank. Thanks Bill.

      • http://donthaveone Mark

Yeah Norm, like all the loans that the banks were directed to give under Bill Clinton, to lend to people who know way in hell could pay it back, so they could buy a house and live the American dream. Only the government accepted the responsibility to pay for it, because they lent to people with no means to pay it back, then collapsed the banking system. Those are the bad loans I dont like.

Before Obama, Reagan and GW Bush, of my republican party, ran the 2 largest federal deficits since ww2. At least Reagan left the economy in decent shape, although in greater debt. There was a recession in 1990-91 (GWBush). Little Bush gave us all tax cuts and then started a war with a trillion dollar price tag, and initiated a horrible and expensive medicare drug package. Brilliant indeed. Then we had the meltdown, which WAS on Bush’s watch.
We, as a nation, and as individuals MUST stop living beyond our means. Our resources are limited. The middle class is shrinking.
Obama is trying to stimulate the economy, save companys and jobs and get a handle on healthcare. He has to do what the government has failed to do for far too many years.

      • DaveH

        Norm,
This isn’t for you, as you obviously feel you are going to be a recipient of the government largesse, so I don’t expect you to keep an open mind. But for anyone that does have an open mind, go to this website and view the video on Canadian Health Care:
        http://www.pjtv.com/
Also, keep in mind that once the government becomes the provider of your health care, you can kiss goodbye your freedom of food choices and other pleasures of life that they deem unhealthy. All this while they are making the taxpayer pay the bill, because they don’t produce anything except more laws.

      • http://donthaveone Mark

No, congress started the war, and the democratic congress escalated it. Much like Lyndon Johnson escalated Vietnam. They bitch about it, but they are the main causes of war.

      • Norm

        Dave

Actually I, like Obama, have my health care under control.

You right wingers are so nasty and greedy that you can’t fathom anyone who cares about other people or the good of the country.
The only benefit, that I can expect is to see is my portion of insurance premiums stabilized, and less of the countries GDP squandered on corporate salieries.

As far as “food choices and other pleasures of life”, please tell me the source of this nonsense.

      • DaveH

        Norm,
First of all, I am not right-winger, I am Libertarian. I love freedom. And I am not religious, but I do have morals (unlike those who would steal other folks money through the government gang). You refer to me as nasty, yet you want to force your way on other people (yes, laws are force). You refer to me as greedy, yet you want to take other peoples money away to spend as you please (much greedier than people who want to keep their own money).
To answer your last question: helmet laws, seat belt laws, trans-fat laws, forced vaccinations, proposed taxes on soda pop. What do these all have in common? They could only succeed because the voters “don’t want to have to pay for someone else’s mistakes” (I’ve been told that throughout my life when trying to defend people’s liberty).
Give me a break, Norm; if you want to keep your head in the sand, fine, but don’t ridicule me because I don’t imitate you. Why are you hanging around a blog that advocate’s freedom when you don’t have a clue what it is?

      • DaveH

        Norm,
I don’t believe name-calling wins a debate, but since you do, I will debate on your level.
You can have the last word, as I see no sense in trying to educate a meat-head.

      • Norm

        Dave
Read your reply July 17th, 2009 at 7:50 pm. “stupid followers” sure sounds like name calling.
I also believe in freedom. But we live (or should live) in a civilized society. When I was a kid we used to do say “it’s a free country” to cover any, and all, acts which were beneficial only to our personal satisfaction. With freedom comes responsibility and that often means compromise and sacrifice for the common good.
Taxes are taxing for sure. Without a government of laws, we would be back in the wild west. Without a military, we would have no freedoms. Freedom is not free.
Some laws are overly restrictive and should not exist. This is a democracy – let’s change them.
I visit this sight to because I have the FREEDOM to do so.

Thanks to a couple of college kids ACORN got exposed for the farce that it is. If ACORN was the difference in putting Al Franken in office then our country has hit a new low.

      • Scarlet4America

If you would bother to under stand the electoral votes, they are not consistently applied in each stated. That isn’t the victory it appears to be. Further, ACORN committed so much voter fraud that these votes will never be challenged because Obama is in their pocket and vice versa. This is payback time for all of Obama’s cronies and followers…they get a free pass for now. But look out in 2010…..the sleeping giant is finally awakening and Americans who have been a sleep are realizing they were just taken by the biggest scam in history. • Julie

FYI: The Bamster really didn’t win that last election! I’ve been doing some personal research, and it can be said that ACORN STOLE it for him instead with too many illegal and fraudulent votes to count!

Newsflash — Sarah Palin actually pulled out that victory in 2008! She went against the wind, against the tide, and against the current, and even with the MSM wholly in the pocket of the Bamster, she crossed that finish line with 3% MORE popular votes and 60 MORE electoral votes than the Bamster did! Did you guys know that before this election ..if you were a convicted felon you were not allowed to vote..Somehow before the election acorn was able to get the law changed and were able to register all of Obamas brothers and sistas. You can not convince me they are only 12% of the population!!

      • B

        Debra,

You sound like a racist (with your brothas and sistas comment). I take exception to all of the racially charged comments, I am not saying that all comments are full of racial slurs and inuendos, but for those comments and side swipes that are, I take offence. Wake up Debra and the rest of you water downed KKK white sheet wearers unless the Republican party expands its tent to include all conservatives and make them feel welcomed (yes, bigots there are minorities who are conservatives and did not vote for President Obama!) you can kiss your chances of winning the White House good-bye for good! If you can not be civil and non-racist because the real Bible and the real Jesus taught this then perhaps your desire to have a conservative in the White House who will not tax us to poverty will give you pause to change your non-inclusive and offensive rhetoric.

      • Janice Ball

I know that ACORN helped Franken steal the election, what I don’t understand is how Coleman could let him get away with it.

      • Smilee

Your dead wrong, It was the Supreme Court of MN that gave him the win and none of them are ACCORN members

      • Jo Anna

It was Acorn, the Supreme court of Minn., and the electoral administration who ALL cost Coleman his rightful election into office – this was a travesty. It is criminal what happened – some precincts had more votes for Franken then they had citizens living in the pricinct. Do you really thing that Americans are going to stand by and keep letting this happen – you must be kidding. Honesty and truth will prevail in the end.HANG IN THERE COLEMAN – WE LOVE YA. jO

      • John the Carpenter

Why do you folks have so much issue with ACORN getting citizens of our country involved in the Democratic process? Stop watching FOX news, get out into the world, and meet these folks. You may be (pleasantly) surprised at what you find!

      • Mike Gibson

I have no problem with the goal ACORN originally had. What I have a problem with is the crooks it took them to become. A few dollars and they were more that willing to sell what integrity, assuming they ever had any, and spend time buying democrat/liberal votes. Did you know that the first place democrat/liberals went for votes were jails and bail bondsmen to get the worst of the worst for democrat/liberal votes? You really want criminals to vote democrat/liberal? The only reason they vote that way is because democrat/liberals are soft on crime and don’t believe in any kind of personal responsibility. That the kind of scum you want leading America? I guess so, Ted ( the murderer and drunk ) Kennedy gets elected year after year.

      • Smilee

Well we agree on one thing

      • John Wilson

        John the Carpenter-

I do know a lot of these folks and you’re right, many of them are good folks. However, being good folks and registering illegally is not synonymous.

      • gia

Yes, I’ve met them in my neighborhood, and they are all ignorant boneheads, who will get exactly what they deserve when the government is taking 80% of their paycheck!

John; if you’d watched FOX, you too would have learned that ACORN had the entire Offensive Line of the Dallas Cowboys registered in Colorado…other reports were public from New Jersey and several other states… CNN, MSNBC, CBS didn’t break this for obvious reasons, we hope you can figure this one for yourself.

      • http://www.personalliberty.com Mint

By “unqualified bozo”, I hope you are referring to George Bush and Dick Cheney! I lovingly refer to them as “Frank & Jesse James” because for the past 8 years, they took their own sweet time and totally and completely screwed this country up! Now you expect this president to remedy this mess overnight??? How unrealistic, but most importantly, how freaking unfair! I say this president should have as much time to repair this mess as the last two bufoons had to screw it up!

        No, thats Palin-Jindal 2012

      • Janice Ball

Mark, I truly respect and admire Gov. Jindal. However, Unless I am mistaken he is not a NBC, in other words, his parents were not citizens at the time of his birth.

If I am wrong I would vote for him in a heartbeat. But I believe the constitution is more important that any politician.

      • patricia

His parents were on the legal path to become citizens so his birth made him a citizen, not like the millions of illegal that swam the rio grande to give birth in our country.. people need to know our laws and abide by them. That is what is wrong with this country,if you dont know the laws they cant be inforced and if you dont know our history we are doomed to repeat it DOOMED I SAY!!!!!

      • The Old Hippie

Doesn’t make any difference if his parents are citizens or not. If he was born in USA he’s a citizen of USA and eligible to be President.

      • Dee

Look folks, we are still not certain Obama has a valid birth certificate but the country put him in office. This government is a joke no wonder the world laughs at America. It is high time people open their eyes our freedoms are diappearing every day but you far left liberals like that don’t you? Just remember good will always prevail bad. The gene pool needs chlorine.

I believe if both parents are born here, and the baby is born abroad, like John McCain, you are a citizen. And If im not wrong, if neither parent is a citizen, but the child is born on American soil, he or she is a citizen. I may be wrong, but Im thinking that is how it is.

      • Packeryman

Matt, you are right, this political split in the nation is not healthy. This came about with the take over of the free airways being used as a propaganda tool for corporate and far right interest. You can drive coast to coast, the AM airways are saturated with this far right disinformation 24hrs a day. It has become cult like that the days talking points are spewed by all the right wing shock jocks and regurgitated by the sheep that follow them. The 20 to 24 percent conservatives that(base) make up most of the Republican party couldn’t win a dog catchers race without the Independents and Moderates who have left the party. the far right fiscal and religious have hijacked the GOP. With the de facto leader(Limbaugh)ranting and raving about flushing and purging the party of Moderates and Rinos, the GOP will have only the hard right left. Try running a Gingrich/Palin, Huckbee/Palin, Perry/Palin or any other two far right wing nuts for the two top positions and the GOP will go down to a worst defeat than Goldwater in 1964. Most Americans are in the middle of the political spectrum as illustrated in the last election. We now have a new phenomenon occurring, the largest demographic change in American history. The new wave of illegal immigrants perpetuated by both parties Democrats wanting votes and Republicans wanting cheap labor. The GOP has lost this vote, I know I live in South Texas. The same radical Latino groups that put 500,000 in the streets of L.A. will sign them up for the Democratic party as soon as a comprehensive immigration bill(Amnesty) passes. This will put 13 to 30 million on the Democrat roles. The reactionary political ideology of the obstructionist party of NO, will have to make a major change or the nuts left in the GOP can ride a dead horse to the ground. Then you go the way of the Whigs.

      • Paul Trood

Here Here, Average Joe, in my view these are the only 2 guys that should be running the show.

I think that it would be great if Palin and Coleman run in the next election. That will mean a landslide victory for Obama and that would be verry good news for all Americans and the rest of the world. The Republicans did not learn a thing ,Just more ignorance all around.
Its hard to believe that republicans wanting to destroy all our institutions and even the constitution think that America is going to support that. That is the diffinition of terrorism.
How about some honest republicans coming foward with some new ideas that are for America instead of against us?

    • Rodin

Shame on the voters for exercising their democratic rights. Every right wing American conservative has a dictator heart. You are for democracy as long as your candidate wins… otherwise you don’t like the system. As for stealing elections, the biggest steal of all was Bush in 2000…. A guy loses the popular vote has his brother rig half the voting machines in Florida and gets a conservative Supreme Court to support him and becomes president. Oh well, we reaped what we sowed. Biggest (WORD REMOVED FOR OFFENSIVE CONTENT) 8 year headache in history.

      • http://donthaveone Mark

Best 8 years of my life. My business I work for prospered, I doubled my income, bought a new house, life was good, and I was safe. Now, Ive had my pay cut by 10 percent, had my overtime cut off, my employer has had to lay off 25 guys, and that has not, I repeat has not happened here for the almost 14 years Ive been here. The dude, and to be honest, its really not Obama, but the democratic party that is to blame here, because face it, he is just the figure head of these wankers, but theyve spent in less than 10 months what they bitched about the previous admin spending in 8 years, and that included funding a war, 9-11 and hurricane Katrina. Bush did the best job Ive ever seen a President do since Ronald Reagan, and he was under attack constantly by the left wing liberal propaganda machine of ABC,CBS,NBC,CNN and MSNBC all the time. He was unfairly lambasted in the press, and his reputation ruined to the undeducated American, by a bunch of jealous democrat bastards that just couldnt stand that a guy actually came into office and did exactly what he said he would do. Oh, and by the way, where’s the oil? You know, the illegal war for oil Bush & Cheney and Halliburton were waging? Remember your ilk crying that for at least a couple of years? Where is the oil you little wanker? Thats what I thought, so I ask you, why is Obama waging war on these guys for their oil? Why is he conducting this illegal escalation into Afghanistan? What kind of war monger is he, talking about pre-emptive strikes on North Korea. Oh my God, he is a war monger, quick, curl up into the fetal position, you bunch of lying pacifist appeasing pants wetting little girls. See the truth, accept the truth. It will set you free. When history is revealed for what it actually is, as it does over a span of years, Bush’s greatness will be shown, as has Carter’s worthlessness, Lyndon Johnsons escalation of Vietnam to make millions for him and his business cronies, Kennedy winning the election with thousands of votes from dead people in Chicago, and Clinton’s selling us down the road to China and Mexico, and his allowing the muslim terrorists to repeatedly blow stuff up and do nothing, along with his sinking our banking system with his boys Barney Frank, Franklin Raines, and Jamie Gorelick. You guys can cry and cite all the bull you want, but fact is fact, and you cant change fact. History is, what it is. And it doesnt fare well for you democrats. Even FDR was a lying connniving bastard, and we are still paying today for the crap he did. So lie all you want, point fingers all you want, just look in the mirror and see the cause of your angst. The truth will set you free.

I agree with with and will add that, I do believe we have already seen the Obama legacy, He won’t, WON’T, produce a valid Birth Certificate, any legal records to his validity of attending schools here in the United States, college included, has spent millions from his high powered lawyers to stop anyone acquiring this info. He has met with the most liberal, socialistic, dictators and has “reached out in friendship to them”, Bowed to a Saudi King, knowing full well what that entails, he grew up Muslim, his own words, so he knew fully what bowing to a King meant, subsurvience. He’s using Al Capone means to strong arm the congress to agreee and sign everything he puts in front of them without reading a thing, but giving them bribes to their states, undermining the constitution that our founding fathers designed to give us a principle to live free of tyranny. His Change is to make this country a socialistic country, and to bankrupt everyone so we have no choice. I say if you want to be socialistic, live the United States, go to Canada, France, Great Britain, Europe, Russia, pick one and go.

      • Elizabeth

        Ditto Mark,
Bush inherited a tremendous burden with 911 and the katrina as well as an economy that had begun to fail during the latter part of the clinton years…….I don’t agree with all of his policies, thought he was a little too liberal with the illegal immigrants but for the most part I felt he did a great job and when he spoke, it came from his heart……..He may not have been as smooth as this president but his strength came through and I do believe he was a true patriot…….This present administration in six months has caused this country to come to the brink of a black hole that if we don’t stop this wild spending and careless regard for our constitution and our laws we will never recover from……..I think it is time for “all” americans to take hold of their senses and to study the impact of this mans policies……How can anyone condone the way he has maligned america as he speaks across the world…….He is president of the united states and I don’t think he understands that….he is not the leader of the world. He owes his allegiance to us…….not to foreign governments or foreign ideals……Our constituion and our values are foremost and “Our LIberty” should be defended by our leader…….I don’t understand why it is not clear to everyone who can reason that we are following a far different path than what our country was founded on……WAKE UP AMERICA ….. Before it is too late!
You that sit so complacently waiting for the great one to drop all of the gifts he has promised you are in for a tremendous jolt when you realize that you will also be suffering right along with those of us who work hard and don’t expect our government to take care of us…….Its is time for all of us to take responsibility for our own actions and not to expect special treatment if we don’t deserve it……..This country was once a great and wonderful place for all to succeed if they applied themselves and worked hard…now it seems that only those who work hard are going to be punished and made to pay for those who would have no idea what it means to apply themselves and prosper. We are a generous nation and have always generously given to those in need……but times are changing………
Our very LIBERTY is in jeopardy and we need to take heed of this……….pay attention and not allow our government to control all aspects of our lives…….I am a grandmother and I do not wish to see my grandchildren burdened forever with such tremendous debt that they will be forced to pay through taxes and restrictions imposed by those in power……
I want those in power to know that 2010 is coming and that is where we will show our power at the ballot box……..people are angry at the total disregard for their thoughts and words being ignored by this congress and this president…………

      • Dave

Elizabeth – If you believe that I’ve got a little land just south of Miami to sell ya.

Unreal. 9/11 happens on Bush’s watch because he and Condi Liesalot and others didn’t bother with all the intelligence left in their laps by the previous admin, they lie to make a case for war, and then proceed to take all the regulatory teeth out of our banking system creating an economic meltdown………but it’s Clinton’s fault.

Yeah right — 8 years of peace and prosperity under Clinton…along comes Bush and all the republicans to throw our country to the wolves…and it is still somehow Clinton’s fault.

Your complete ignorance of history and reality are amazing.

      • dassieland

To Mark & Elizabeth, I fully agree with your statements. Let’s not forget about the “tsanami” that was also during President Bush’s years in office. I truly believe President Bush will go down in history as one of the “GREATEST PRESIDENTS” we’ve ever had. How he did it with all the attacks from the Liberals is a miracle in itself. Just look what is happening now with this “racist” Sotomayor? All the praise they are giving her is unbelievable. Did they do the same for any of President Bush’s nominations? ? Mr. Gonzales also came from a poor background etc. Did any of you see tears flowing for him? They treated him just as unfairly. What about Robert Borjk?
Palin & Duncan for 2012. God Bless America and our troops. Thanks for your sacrifices.

Even the mayflies on Lake Erie took an extra month to hatch this year because the water wasnt warmed up enough. Yeah, Al Gore and global warming. Talk about the big lie. What terrible hardship have you had to endure besides not be able to buy more even more unecessary crap to clog up your home and our landfills), was caused by Bush and Co. and the policies put in place by and since Reagan was in office. What were your comments when we had elected and ACTOR as president? He sure fooled you! And you talk about the truth setting you free? THAT’s why you are still so damn miserable, you do not, or maybe CAN NOT see the truth, no matter how blatant it is. Reagan, Bush and Co. WERE the BEST presidents ever at over-inflating an already artificially overinflated economy. THAT is why the value of our dollar is dropping so quickly, NOT because some immigrants work their asses off to feed their families back home, or a single mom collects food stamps to feed her kids since dad was killed in Iraq fighting for the right to control the flow of petroleum in SOMEONE ELSE’S COUNTRY. Come on now, be honest. Even a blind man knows when the sun is shining! You and the rest of these right wing, greedy, racist, nut jobs just need some love, don’t you?

      • DaveH

Why can’t we have a computer database of the vote? We could have two databases, both accessible to the public. One would contain the information for each person who voted (name, address or driver’s license number, or whatever necessary to authenticate that person). The other would contain the information of how each person voted. The ID for each of the voters in the “how voted” database would be an alphanumeric ID which would be known only to the voter. This could be accomplished easily by pairing the voting form with a stub containing the same alphanumeric ID as the form. There would be no public record of who got which form so the person’s vote would be completely secret.
That way the individual could access the database and make sure that his/her vote was recorded correctly. If not, they could file a public protest. Also,
the two databases could be counted to make sure that there was only one vote per voter. And the database of who voted could be perused by any public body who wanted to check to make sure that “Dead People” and others who aren’t allowed didn’t vote.
Who would object to this kind of voting accountability? We need to do something now about the voter fraud that is going on and I think that this would be the perfect solution.

Mark your vote on a ballot.
Fold the ballot like a letter.
Place the ballot in a clear lucite box in the precinct, in full public veiw at all times.
Counted 3 times by three different party heads(Republican,Democrat and a Independent) in full veiw of the public at all times and post the results on a board before calling the statehouse with voting results.
Why does it need to be any more complicated than that?
Technology can be a wonderful thing, but some things just do not require it.
As a example, google a documentary called “Hacking Democracy”. It won awards for investigative reporting and journalism.

Dave great idea! But to take it even further why dont they let us vote on every bill that those evil people try to pass.(Pelosi,Reid,Dodd,Barney fag,..) With tech.the way is today they should be to put into every houshold, perhaps a ding or red light to remind people to vote. The way it is now those idiots are shoving thru their on agenda..and it is ruining this country. And you know they really would not need to be in DC anymore, and they could stay in their on state and find out what the people really want. TOO...Nancy Pelosi would have to give up her 727 jet that she jets around in. Think about all those jets ,the fuel saved, and the decrease in polutions.Yeah...thats the ticket..let`s throw their sorry asses out of town,

      • Paul

Debra, we live in a Republic. We have no right to vote on every or any bill these vermin propose. If you really wish to make a change for the better, if you wish for a return to the Rule of Law, you have only one real option. At the next election, local, state or national, vote out the incumbent. The only true loss would be that Ron Paul would be out of office. But that would be small price to pay to put the fear of God into these power mad dastardly swine out of our White House, Congress, State Capital, or City government.

      • Robin, Arcadia, IN

I agree… Barry wants to change things and as quickly as possible. Maybe the next term our new president will see the need to revamp the voting procedure. Dems wouldn’t want to change anything because it gets them elected the way it is. But, if it was an honest election, a lot of Dems would be packing their bags and looking for work!

      • http://none Irate Grandma

You are a wise man, my friend. Until we gain some control of illegal votes (dead people, non-existent people, illegal aliens, those registered 75 times by Acorn, etc) we can expect the election outcomes not to be what the real people voted for. After that, someone should tell the voting public in general that just because they voted for someone who proved to be nothing more than a self-serving crook, they don’t have to keep re-electing them. We need to set term limits which is going to be difficult, considering that the people who have to vote for them are the ones who would be unemployed if term limits passed. My Dad’s political philosphy was “Vote for whoever’s not in office. It’ll take them awhile to get their hands in our pockets.”. The older I get, the wiser my Dad seems.

        Irate stupid grandma,

All your paranoid delusions about ACORN are wasted energy. Sure they shouldn’t have had quotas when registering voters, which led to some rather funny name being put on those lists…..but the key point is………IT DOESN’T BECOME FRAUD UNLESS MICKEY MOUSE OR DONALD DUCK ACTUALLY SHOW UP TO VOTE.

Republicans have set up this strawman in ACORN and just keep beating it. Now it looks like that O’Keefe joker is in some hot water along with the wingnuts who funded him.

        Have fun beating your strawman.

We all know republicans don’t like acorn so much is because they are set up to help the poor and needy and minorities without a voice. And poor minorities don’t break republican at the polls. Angry old white people don’t hate acorn for some overblown contrived and paid for controversy….they don’t like acorn because acorn helps get blacks to the polling booth.

      • Dave

wow daveH – you’re as dimwitted as irategrandma.

Do some research on Diebold….the company who supplied the voting machines in Ohio for Bush in 04. They’ve been in such deep doo doo they’ve since changed their name. Read all the headlines regarding the CEO of that outfit and his connections to Bush.

        Interesting read.

I agree something needs to be done with the current system that allowed Bush to win in 2000 with a minority of the votes and again in 04 with the Diebold scandal.

Beating up on acorn won’t help. Remember…the ONLY way those bogus registered names on those lists become actual fraud IS IF MICKEY MOUSE OR DONALD DUCK ACTUALLY SHOWED UP AT THE VOTING BOOTH…AND NONE OF THEM DID…IE NO FRAUD. The only thing you need to change by those canvassers is to not have them paid through a quota system…thus no incentive to lengthen the list of names by an means.

      • Average Guy

Robin, that’s what I like about you liberal zombies…..you never have the real facts. You just mouth the party line. Conservatives hold the constitution dear. Something you obviously have never read. The President is elected by Electoral College vote, not popular vote. If you don’t like that, then start a constitutional amendment. As for your other uninformed comment about Jeb Bush rigging half the voting machine…Florida didn’t use voting machines in 2000. They used punch cards. That was the “Hanging Chad” recount exercise. I suggest you spend less time on the blogs and more time educating yourself. Read the Communist Manifesto, Mien Kampf, Orwell’s “1984” and Saul Alinsky’s ‘ Rules for Radicals” These are the books your hero Obama has read, loves and emulates on a daily basis. BTW, how is that Hope & Change working out for you?

      • Dave

Machines were used in Florida to count the holes left by the punched chads you dingbat.

The mindless lemmings on the right are amazing. Facts don’t matter, just noise and banter and fearmongering. FOX and right wing talk radio are great at all three. Not only do they spew misinformation, their distortions are so blantant as to make them laughable.

Glenn Beck, Hannity, Rush, Michell Malkin, Mike (Weiner) Savage and the other usual suspects deceive only those stupid enough to let them.

The poor run of the mill conservative has no home. The republican party has been taken over by dangerous radicals.

If thats the way you see it, have another lude.

      • Jo Anna

WHEN ARE YOU DEMS GOING TO FIGURE OUT THAT B.O. IS A COMMUNIST AT HEART WITH A BUNCH OF COMMUNIST CZARS AND AN AGENDA THAT WILL DESTROY OUR FREE ENTERPRISE ECONOMY IF HE STAYS IN OFFICE AND DESTROY ALL YOUR FREEDOMS AND THE CONSTITUTION AND YOUR BILL OF RIGHTS!!! – VOTE ALL THE LIBERAL DEM COMMIES OUT – 2010 AND 2012

      • Dave

Wow Joann – paranoid and stupid. What a way to go through life.

    • Dave

By the way…One of Franken’s books is “Rush Limbaugh Is A Big Fat Idiot”….no “Liar”. You obviously didn’t read the book, Chipster.

Al won because Coleman was one of the sleaziest guys on capital hill and all the failed republican policies of the prior 8 years came home to roost.

If republicans actually offered up different policies instead of those which are known failures (tax breaks for the wealthiest 3% and deregulate everything in sight so crooks can take advantage and rabid anti immigration, and pro-intollerance) they might wing some folks over. But the poor republican party has been taken over by fanatics who now control the radical republican message which is reinforced on FOX Noise and right wing talk radio.

It’s failed republican policy that put our nation on its ear and if republican candidates just keep preaching the same mantra the republican party is toast.

This has noting to do with the subject at hand…DIRECTLY…but very important regaurdless.

Isn’t this just great… Illinos Capital of Corruption

Mosque Foundation websitereports that Sheikh Kifah Mustapha recently completed a four day training session in Springfield
Radical Fundraiser Becomes Illinois Police Chaplain
By Editor Thursday, January 7, 2010
Previously on the IPT blog we stressed the need for the Defense Department’s Islamic Chaplaincy program to adopt a stricter vetting process, citing historically radical imams who have served in the program.

Now the same can be said for the chaplaincy program for the Illinois State Police. The Mosque Foundation websitereports that Sheikh Kifah Mustapha recently completed a four day training session in Springfield, Illinois to become the first certified Muslim chaplain for the Illinois State Police.

Mustapha’s name appears on a list of unindicted co-conspirators in the Holy Land Foundation (HLF) Hamas financing trail, which ended with sweeping convictions in November of 2008. On this list he is identified as a member of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Palestine Committee.

There is more to the story…
and I am sure it doesn’t get better
