Habeas Corpus Revived, Will It Survive?

March 30, 2009 by

Habeas Corpus Revived, Will It Survive?

In October 2006 President George W. Bush signed into law the Military Commissions Act of 2006, provisions of which trampled all over more than 230 years of American freedoms.

The bill, among other things, stripped the federal courts of jurisdiction to hear habeas corpus petitions from the Guantánamo Bay detainees seeking to challenge their designation as enemy combatants. Habeas corpus is the right defendants have to challenge their imprisonment in civilian courts.

Thankfully the U.S. Supreme Court, in a 5-4 decision last June, threw out provisions of the dreadful legislation, ruling that prisoners there do indeed have a constitutional right to go to federal court to challenge their imprisonment.

You may have thought the provision a good one, because it applied to terrorists captured on the battlefield fighting the U.S. But it wasn’t restricted to foreigners. You can ask American citizen Jose Padilla, the accused “dirty bomb” suspect arrested as he stepped off an airliner at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago in May 2002. He then spent three and half years in a military brig in South Carolina, plus two more in a federal prison before his trial in January 2008.

During his military confinement he was subjected to prolonged isolation and intensive interrogations in conditions a judge called harsh. Still, no evidence of a dirty bomb plot was ever uncovered and Padilla’s conviction was for conspiring to help Islamic jihadist fighters abroad.

In writing for the majority, Justice Anthony Kennedy said, “The laws and Constitution are designed to survive, and remain in force, in extraordinary times.”

The ruling is a good one for freedom-loving Americans, and a repudiation of heavy-handed tactics of the Bush administration and members of congress that voted for the legislation.

But keep your eye on the ball, as the Supreme Court decision left some important questions unanswered. Among them, how much evidence did the government have to show to justify a prisoner’s detention, as well as how classified evidence is to be handled and to what degree of due process are detainees entitled.

And abuses of American freedoms under the guise of protecting the republic in a crisis aren’t unprecedented. During the American Civil War President Abraham Lincoln suspended habeas corpus and arrested newspaper editors and state legislators who opposed the war. He then ignored the Supreme Court’s rulings to restore the right, and many of those arrested didn’t see the light of day until the war was over.

And now we have in office a new president, Barack Obama, who is already showing a proclivity to create a crisis and drum up fear for his own ends, freeze out members of the press he deems too critical, and is pushing harder toward freedom-crushing socialism than even Bush did.

    Bob,
I appreciate your site. It is very important today, when Americans are under this ultra-leftist attack. This fruitcake NObama will bring more devatation to America, then the communists did in 1917 to Russia.
Actually, the whoel “justice-system” now on the tracks of disarming citizens with no-sense, or trumpeted-up “charges” against individulas who are 1st and 2nd Amendment supporters.
I know cases where the prosecutors denied and hushed-up evidences for innocent peopel, just because they stood up for anti-abortion, anti-gay, and anti-gun-control issues.
BE AWARE the filthy leninist-marxist idea died out only in Central- and Eastern Europe (and partially in China), but re-vitalized in the USA.
It is knows long time ago, that their next target is USA…
    Thanks for your patriotism!

  • off the cuff

Start by creating the most pronounced class envy in recent history, find a scapegoat segment of society, show up at their houses and threaten physical harm, and then confiscate their wealth. Lucky my grandparents got my mother out of Nazi Germany in 1941, unlucky I'm not describing Germany, but this weeks events in the USA.
We got to this point by sticking our heads in the sand, not realizing that it left our posterior pointed skyward. Change was promised and change we got. Perhaps next time we should ask 'WHAT KIND OF CHANGE"? The only remedy that comes to mind is to level a charge of failure to honor a contract IF thats still enforceable. The contract I have in mind is to "protect and defend the constitution of the United States" which, with his right hand to God and the other on a Bible, would make this a contract of the highest order.
As this rant is forming in my head I wonder to whom can this be sent without becoming the next target?
Who is doing the follow up reporting on the psycological effects this rancor has on the children of AIG? God forbid, something happens to one of these "Executives", who will be held responsible?Acorn? Frank? Pilozzi? Obama? I think not.
We better wake up, people, we need to recognize facisism in its infancy, because if you won't fight for someone else's rights, no one will help you when yours are taken. The first indicator of facisism is limiting the right of dissent. If you can't see whats happening then perhaps they are already successful and it's to late. I pray that is not the truth.

Off The Cuff: Wish you were running for Congress in my state – you would get my vote. The people need to wake up now. Obama is on the fast track moving us toward fascism. I, like some many others, was impressed with his speeches and his promise of change – so I voted for him in the primary. However, I did my own research and found him to unamerican with a vision of forming a totalitarian government, with him as the dictator – he did not get my vote in the general. The New American Tea Party is on the move across the country. Spread the word!!

I believe it is time to simply say, no! No more politicians telling us they are going to keep us safe. No, to people who want to take care of us. No, to indoctrination of our children at public school. (i’ll bet most of our kids in college, and maybe you too, think we live in a democracy. We do not, our government was set up to be a CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC WHERE THE PEOPLE ARE THE POWER ……..NOT A DAMN JUDGE. So simply refuse to let them tell us what we can and can’t do. After all its not up to them. We are born with inalienable rights (to do as we please as long as no one else gets hurt) check the Declaration of Independence.

Independent = not dependent on government. Or you may be a slave as you choose.

Read the 545 versus 3 million, google it, very enlightening and can help many when they really realize how things work so we can band together and realize this is not party versus party this is Americans fighting for our Frame WORK

While I am at it let’s tackle healthcare. How can we have a serious conversation about healthcare reform without first connecting the dots. Why are we so sick, it’s not normal or natural. It’s really quite simple, you are what you eat and you are what you think. You can also be affected by the environment in your home, workplace, and neighborhood, the air you breathe, the water you drink and the food you eat.

I know they’d like you to believe it’s all in your genes but I put that last. I know a doctor that was successfully treating pregnant women with Homeopathy to make their offsprings genetically superior and not pass on deficient family genes.

Some people, actually more and more, take care of themselves naturally, and by that I mean by watching what they eat and drink and by using more natural methods like herbs, adjustments, meditation, breathing and exercise. They usually eat less meat or no meat and no fried foods and definitely less processed foods. They also favor alternative therapy methods which unfortunately are usually not covered by our traditional insurance companies. Some people use energy medicine. All of these people are healthier and their costs for maintaining health are much less than the people who follow the mainstream diet of processed foods, sugar drink, allopathic drugs, expensive tests, surgery and eventually chemo and radiation.

We cannot maintain or afford this type of healthcare anymore than we can afford to maintain an empire. It’s not sustainable.

The one area where we have excellent healthcare is in emergency surgery.

I know we are not allowed to talk about Cuba because God forbid that little island ever took over the US but have you ever wondered how it is that they have a better, cheaper and more effective healthcare system than we do and that they export doctors all over the world and that they’ve done this during 40 years of embargo. There is something to be learned from them and others. But for that to happen we’d have to be open minded and stop ass-uming we are always the best.

We don’t need a mafia insurance system in the way, especially one that needs to be bailed out, won’t insure you if you have a pre-existing condition and refuses to pay your claims. We already have a Social Insurance Program, it’s called Medicare. We just need to expand it. And if you still want to buy additional healthcare and insurance and you can afford it, be my guest. This is America.

There are many worthwhile healthcare practices and we shouldn’t let a corrupt industry run by insurance companies, HMOs and drug companies tell us what we can or can’t have. I know many of you think you have the best healthcare system in the world. But then again 80% of you have no passports and it just maybe you just don’t know what’s possible.

I guarantee you we start looking at it this way we’ll lower out costs and we the people will benefit and so will business. It may be just what we need to save ourselves!

    • Carrot1

      Eric,

If I understand your entry correctly that we must learn and take action to take better care of ourselves – I agree. I also believe that there have been discoveries in medicine that would alleviate many of our malladies. However, diseases such as cancer have kept the oncologists in this country in business. A well-known cure for cancer, not chemotherapy, would put a dent in the medical profession. But I agree, in that the cures that have been surpressed should be made available. The foods, drinks and amounts we eat and drink have such an impact on health.

Back when the earth was cooling (and before McDonalds and fast food) kids in public school where I attended (E – HS) had well balanced nutritional meals for lunch. Food nutrition, essential vitamins, and health were taught in elementary school. I’m not sure if that is taught any longer. Of course, lifestyles where appetites and activities must be satisfied expeditiously have yielded to processed foods – another issue.

Nationalization of health care, however badly individuals may think they need this, is not a solution. I have talked with too many people from Great Britain and other foreign countries who have nationalized health care and they all say that we are so lucky to have privatized health care here in the U.S. With privatization of the industry – people are able to select and choose providers based on the type of care that is given and that privatization creates a healthy atmosphere for competition.

However, the competitive edge is removed under nationalized health care. From what I understand it is doled out like cars might be assembled on a rusted assembly line. Not only that but take the recent incident where Natasha Richardson needed to get an emergency head scan in Canada where health care is nationalized. The scan was delayed because the health care administrators followed the protocol for such an injury and their protocols didn’t dictate the kind of extensive medical treatment that would have been given here in the U.S. As a result her brain injury resulted in a fatal deterioration and the fact that the injured was rich, famous and would have gladly paid for treatment beyond the protocols given resulted in a medivac flight to the U.S. regardless of cost and treatment. In the U.S., the NY hospital correctly diagnosed the brain injury. But due to the time ellapsed her condition was irreversable and she died. Had U.S. style emergency medicine been available at the ouset, Natasha would be alive today. But we can only speculate as to what her status and road to recovery could be.

I have friends who have friends in the U.K (also under nationalized health care) and their grandparents require medical treatment and have been waiting for over four years to get the required treatment. Meanwhile, their health is deteriorating and there is a very good chance that since the time has elapsed damage is irreversable. There are a number of similar stories and recently Daniel Hannan, an MEP advisor in Great Britain advised the U.S. via media to not go with nationalized health care.

I empathize with those without health care. But we should really stand up, send letters to our representatives and voice our concerns with this issue to seek other alternatives.

After reading 84 of your back-and-forth comments, I think there could be SO much less blaming and rage-filled outbursts – which do not engage the reader in your cause. People actually listen more when everyone isn’t screaming and name-calling. Instead, it would be encouraging to hear more constructive suggestions for solutions. Something more constructive and feasible than grabbing one’s gun and running out to shoot folks, since, realistically, it’s not a viable alternative in creating positive change in a supposedly ethical/moral society. Of all the comments, I think Eric has presented the most thought-provoking and unifying comments. Eric seems to be interested in solutions rather than attacking, name-calling, and blaming. I am a moderate, and I also believe that there is blame for all parties. And I don’t mean just political parties. I mean, the American people, who lived beyond their means for years, and some who were genuinely duped into thinking they could afford mortgages they couldn’t. Americans who have brought up the “entitled” generation and lowered standards for them to “pass” to the next level, in whatever part of life that level is. Also corporate greed. There are few Americans who could escape some portion of responsibility in getting our country into it’s current crisis. It’s like Jesus said, “Let those who are without guilt, cast the first stone.” NO ONE is completely guiltless. If we aren’t involved in some type of volunteer work to improve the situation of our families, of our neighbors, our communities, and our country, none of us are guiltless. A very bright friend of mine once said “Counting stumps doesn’t clear the field.” In reading so many of these comments, I see lots of stump counting, but no one clearing the field. Are each and every one of you doing EVERYTHING in your ability in your lives to improve your communities, your government, your world? If not, please don’t cast stones. Eric seems like he’s doing his best to make an intelligent impact on the world and those around him. And you slaughtered him with outrage simply because he doesn’t think just like you? And you speak of intolerance? What about your intolerance?

Another truth I found in the “good book,” even though I don’t actually practice organized religion at this point, was when Jesus said “Eat, drink, and do ALL things in moderation.” Extremism of ANY type can ONLY lead to negative outcomes for all. Even religion in extreme has proven historically to kill masses of innocents. When I read the 84 comments, except for Eric’s more practical and positive approach, I saw primarily extremism.

So everyone, feel free to get out your hatchets and hack away. I won’t be returning to this site nor reading your loud screaming or retorts. Most of you could take a few lessons in strongly expressing your opinions without sacrificing all diplomacy and personal dignity.

Truly, there is enough blame to pass around for all of America. Personal responsibility is the basis of true freedom. The lack of this personal responsibility has been widespread and should not find comfort in simply castrating our government. I have voted both repub and dem. Yes, our system is not perfect. But, like our healthcare system, I’d still take it over that of any other country.

  • Cindy

Eric Bischoff , there is another party. It is called the Constitution Party!
http://www.constitutionparty.com Look it up and JOIN!

  • Cindy

Chris Rowe, EXACTLY CORRECT! SOME people are getting it!

  • Cindy

Ok, folks, it is time to stop talking left and right, and start talking like we are AMERICANS and band together! The 2 party system is, in reality, 1 party. Their goals are the same. Haven’t you been listening to the talk, even since Bush #1. It is the New World Order. or a world government they are after. That has been the goal and still is with this president, and it is more evident with the socialist ideas and policies of Pres. Obama. Global currency, North American Union (which started with Bush 2), the government taking over private sector business, the 20,000 troops on American soil (for “emergencies”??? this is illegal and against the constitution, treason, actually, but does anyone care or question?) ….. WAKE UP! Doesn’t anyone worry about our Sovereignty? OR Has anyone read the MIAC Report???? (google it if you haven’t) Even though it was rescinded, don’t think for a minute that they are not going to continue in that vein. They will just do it secretly this time. Almost every American can say that they are on that “watch” list. It was the government deciding who is a “domestic terrorist”. Our rights as Americans have been eroded, and if you don’t fit in to the New World Order, you will not be allowed to fit in! James Boyd is correct. We will soon have to defend ourselves, and it won’t be because you are a Republican or Democrat! This country is not the country that our fore fathers designed it to be any more! But if our guns are taken away, what do we defend ourselves with? You people that want off the list, go bury your head in the sand, but you might not ever come up for air!!!!

  • Eric Bischoff

You are all so stuck on he said she said, you can’t see the forest for the trees. I am not a Democrat or a Republican. I am not a Clinton, Obama or Bush fan. Certainly not Reagan as I think the blame for the NeoCons lies at his feet. Cheney, Rumsfeld and many others got their start in that administration. I call them RepublicRats and I think they are all corrupt windbags only interested in staying in power and lining their pockets. There is not much difference beetween the two parties. They’d like you to think there is. This mess has been brewing for a long time. I am ready for an alternative party one that will value people and the environment equaly with profit one that changes the corporate charters. A true government for the people. One that changes the electoral process and campaign financing. Give us run-off voting already. I am for smaller government. But I am for a more effective government. The FDA should do it’s job and not take money from Big Agra & Big Pharma. The EPA should be in bed with the coal, nuclear, chemicals industry and big cattle ranchers. The IRS shouldn’t favor the rich and the corporations. You want to make it fair then let’s switch to a consumption tax. The more you spend or can spend the more you pay. Savers get rewarded for making capital available for investments. Real capital not fiat money. The Federal Reserve is the biggest crime against us. They should be abolished. Who in their right mind once they know the facts about the feds would want to keep it going? And I am against the empire building military industrial complex. They are bankrupting us. Rome and england couldn’t do it and we are idiots to think we could. Let’s close the bases, mind our own business and bring all troops home. We stop messing with people and they won’t be so pissed at us. We should just do what we’ve agreed to do and We should not covet other people’s stuff. Until then we can’t call ourselves the richest nation, we are actually bankrupt, the healthiest, that a farce we’re the fattest. The only thing we are number 1 at these days is locking up our citizens and 80% of them are for drug related/prohibition non-violent crimes. So don’t educate people and don’t have a vibrant economy because we are too busy fighting wars all the time and then lock people up and don’t rehabiliate them either. The private prison industrial complex is a big business and they need return customers for their shareholders. Nothing to be proud of a far as I am concerned. But I still have hope.

There you go, now go back and read your first post and you will see why you recieved so many replies. If you would have said this in the beginning everyone would have been more clearer

    • commiecrusher

dont forget about the demo-rats but bush was a republi-con conservatism works free markets work pure capitalism work. if you dont agree with a particular company’s anything . DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. as far as closing bases ect. maybe. minding our own buisness. absolutely. but be careful what you wish for my friend because if we would had done that in the 40s you’d be speaking german . america has done far more good in the world than bad . i also agree that if you would of said that in your first post your hate mail would have been dramatically less

  • Marlene Christoff Sundberg

The people of this Country need to wake up. We are being led by a party of Marxist Socialists: Obama, Pelosi, Reid, etc. with Obama being the Dictator. Never in the histoy of this United States have we had a leader where we have not had full background disclosure. His arrogance, his attitude on 60-minutes, etc., are warnings of what is yet to come. He is laughing in the face of our Constitution with the goal of completely replacing it with his own Mein Kemp! We are living in a very scary time. If the American People do not stand up and wage war against this administration, we are doomed. Obama’s “distributon of wealth” will be in place…America will never again be as it has been for over 200 years…FREE…with freedom of expression rights…freedom of worship rights, etc… Obama is Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, and Castro all in one body and his appeal is to the uneducated, lower class and elderly who believed his campaign promises of paying their bills, their mortages, distribution of wealth, FREE healthcare, etc. His Cabnet is filled with criminals…his association with other less desirable characters…Reverend Wright, ACORN, etc gives a great deal of insight to his character…he has NONE! Granted, the office of the Presidency is a very difficult job, and for the first time in my voting life, I do not respect or support the current president.

REMEMBER…this is the man who removed the American flag from his airplane during the campaign nd replaced it with a Pepsi-type flag of his own. That was the first warning to us.

Remember this as well: Hitler was a young, eloquent speaker with a shady backgound who appealed to the very young and very old…they listened and followed…cheered and followed. We all know what happened!

    • Eric Bischoff

So I seemed to have rattled some of you. I got a lot of name calling responses. How Christian of you. You don’t even know me but already you’ve assumed and pretend to know that I am single, have no parents, make less than $50k, no children, I am an uninformed moron, naive, unread, not very bright, no purpose in life, I blindly follow and I am selfish, I have pathetic morals and ideals, I am sponging off others.

It’s hard to love you back but I will try.

I don’t remember calling any of you names. I was merely stating my opinion which last time I looked was called freedom of speech while we still have it.

So here is the real me. I am 57, married for 27 years, I have worked for the same company for 25 years, my wife and I make a combined income of $250K/year, we pay a lot of taxes. I have some college education. I am a graduate of the Anthony Robbins Mastery University. I am a permanent legal resident with a green card since 1965. I am from France, oh I can already hear the freedom fries rumblimgs. My wife is American from Brooklyn, you don’t want to mess with her. It’s true we have no children but we make up for it by supporting lots of nieces and nephews as much as we can, my parents are alive but divorced, I am not an uninformed moron. Since I have no children I have a lot of time to be a media junky, a bookworm and I have a very large eclectic magazine subscription. I am a CIO so I have a bit of knowledge about the internet and I have been on it since the early 90′s. I am very good at doing research as it is a part of my job. If I give you a link it’s because I read it and regardless of it’s origin, I can vouch for authenticity or correctness. Some of you seem to think that you can’t trust Wikipedia. Was the Britannica Encyclopedia any better?

I think outside the box, I look for alternatives, I am open minded which is why I like to read both sides of the story and I find myself in places like this where obviously I am not yet welcome.

As far as my values and morals, I believe in the 2 basic laws. Do what you have agreed to do, and do not encroach on others. I believe in telling the truth and doing onto others as I would have done to me. I do not follow any organized religions as I find most of them hypocritical. I meditate a lot and my spirituality is my business.

I really object to In God We trust Now Pass the Ammunition.

      • volunteer

Eric, hang in! You don’t sound like a true “liberal” but someone waiting to be convinced that the true American way is the “right” way. Obama is putting America on the road to destruction for which she will never recover. Pelosi, Reed, Frank, and Schumer are paving his way. Obama wants to be our dictator, not our President. His flowery words are just that “words.” Hopefully, you are familiar with the Bible enough to read 1 John 3-18, “Dear Children, let us not love with words or tonque but with actions and TRUTH.” We have yet to hear the TRUTH from Obama.

    • George

Where in the hell is his birth certificate??

All that the country has seen is a “Record of Live Birth” issued by the state of Hawaii and that copy had a issue date of 2007.

All his personal information is under lock and key being in sealed records that even a court can not have opened.

What a shame that the “KOOL-AID” drinkers in this country had to swallow all of the BULL#(@& that Obama spewed out in his speeches and whistle stops around the country.

      • fly on the wall

I agree with you. The people have a right to know. Obama has spent over eight hundred thousand dollars to keep his birth certificate, pass port and school records secret. This tells me he has something to hide.
The people do have a right to know if he is qualified to be President.
Voting this man in office was the biggest mistake America has ever made. I wonder if he really got voted in.
This country is in real trouble. We are losing our freedom

      • DL

Sad part for them is that they will be in the same situation as everyone else. The limp wristed lefties were just used to get BO elected. Now they get the same reward as everyone else….What a pity. Some probably voted more than once….Like the Daleys from Chicago said, vote early and vote often…Snakes hissing is what they are….

  • Former_Democrat

It is amazing the amount of lies, hatred and name calling the leftists do here. I have not seen on fact from their postings, but all the lies that they and the socialist Democrats have told for years. You challenge them, like the cowards they are, they start name calling and shouting even louder. They no longer know what truth is because they believe their own lies. I left the party because their agenda takes precedence over truth and patriotism. These are the childish people who have not done one thing for our country, yet expect a cradle to grave, womb to tomb, provided for existence. Everything is Bush or the conservatives fault because their mothers and fathers spoiled them rotten and gave into them every time they threw a tantrum. No one has ever held them responsible in their lifetimes. They are bullies behind a computer, but cowards face to face. They’ve been feminized, emasculated and left their manhoods behind in the hands of their lying cowardice leaders. These are the ones who would scream the loudest if a terrorist on a jihad ever came after them and swear at them while they beheaded them, but still be too much of a coward to fight back. It is time to take our country back from these idiots and send them to France and Canada, where they belong.

  • Chris Rowe

    Dear Fellow Americans,

Clear Your Minds. We need to work with each other here.
I think what we need to understand is that the Dems & Reps are merely actors in this game. While they battle in the open, they rub elbows behind closed doors.

Obama, like Bush, Clinton, Bush Sr etc… are pawns in this game. They do what they are told or they find themselves 6 feet under. We are under attack by the the Bank of the World financiers. Why do you think the cabinet positions in the past 5 presidents were made up mainly of people from Wall Street & the Federal Reserve? Treasury Secy Geithner is the past President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Prev Secy Henry Paulson – Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Goldman Sachs. Don’t trust me – You check it out.

These actors keep us bickering & arguing with each other while the REAL POWER makes the decisions behind the actors. Educate yourself. Be suspicious of authority. Protect your freedoms. – Read the US Constitution and find out how many rights we NO LONGER have!

God Bless You & God Bless America!!

    • Kitty, Lakeland Fl.

At last someone on here that knows the truth but I am afraid your words will fall on deaf ears and blind eyes. Truth is sometimes to frightening to face and this truth is beyond frightening. The group working for the One World Power has both parties in hand and pulls all the strings. They want us to fight among ourselves so we will not unite and fight back. Until they do all the right research which is easy to find they will continue to party bash and will wake up soon and find us bonded with Mexico and Canada with a one world currency. By that time it might be to late to do anything but hope that slavery is not to bad after all.

  • Chuck

If it weren’t so amusing to read about how the “right” ruined our economy, I’d just cry at the ignorance! Fannie and Freddie’s monitoring and regulatory oversight was cut in half under,,,catch this boys and girls…CARTER! Brace yourselves, Libs, the final castration of oversight was performed by CLINTON.

Our “community organizer”, Mr.O inherited his cockleburrs from the Dems. If you Libs complain that Bush didn’t do anything…it falls on his predesessor. Can’t spin it both ways to fit a Left agenda. So…what is it?

At least the Reps aren’t trying to make end runs around the Supreme Court.

    I don’t vote ALL Republican, just anti-left.

  • crocus009

Eric Bischoff … You wrote:”Then they dropped the ball on Katrina, trampled our laws and civil rights, kidnapped, tortured, assassinated. ”
Since you lump these in with dropping the ball on Katrina, I assume you mean these were done in the U.S. Please give documentation of kidnappings, torturings, and assassinations. Also, if you are using wikipedia as your source for information on ACORN, you are not very bright. Users can edit it and slant the information to their way of thinking. They can also remove information. That website has been proven to be in the tank for Obama.

Please keep my name on the email list. I like to know what is going on and being said even if I do not agree. IMHO the only way to understand what is happening is to read some of each side’s rhetoric even though it’s difficult to do sometimes without throwing up. The truth usually lies somewhere around the middle.

    • DL

Hey Crocus….Truth about Katrina is that the thugs that were still in New Orleans stayed for the very reason and that was to loot, steal, destroy anything they could. But they were fooled. The chocolate city can stay chocolate as far as i’m concerned. They found out that not all the policemen were real because they were ficticious names on the payroll…What a scam. The buses that were flooded with water didn’t run for the poor people only because there was NO Election going on, otherwise they would be running…And the pathetic governor was no better…I know i was close by.

    ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLUTELY

If it wasn’t so scary it would be amusing how the Obama administration
continues to distract and fool the American people with political
rhetoric, half truths and just plain lies while at the same time
unaware to the public enforcing his radical leftists policies via the
never-ending bailouts, stimulus package pork, economic budget-less
plans and executive orders.  Whatever happened to the promises of most
ethical congress, transparent administration and change we can believe
in?  When all we see is the same old political schemes of yesteryear
and worst.  We have a president who like president Bill Clinton is
very charismatic, arrogant and a “master of deceit” and will stop at
nothing to reform, restructure, reconstruct, re-invent, re-invest, re-
build and just plain destroy our government and our way of life.  Mr.
Obama will say whatever our itchy ears want to hear in order to bring
back that bridge to the future Bill and Hillary Clinton promised in
the 90′s – that bridge to nowhere call Socialism.  So while we get
sidetracked by president Obama and his willing accomplices in congress
and the media with such matters as the economic crisis, Rush Limbaugh
or contract retention bonuses at AIG, (that this administration knew
about way back then), “We the people” will continue to be had.

It is clear the radical liberal democrat congress and this
administration are blinded by their political power and will stop at
nothing to take us back to the failed leftists policies of the
democrat party, whose members’ allegiance is, “Party ideology first”
rather than country.  No matter how our friends on the left spin it,
there is nothing to be proud about in the democrat party today, “Lie,
cheat, bribe and break the law,” will go down in history as the legacy
    for the democrat party.

It was once said by President Dwight Eisenhower, “A people who values
its privileges above its principles soon loses both,” and that’s just
what is happening to the democrat party.  For what will it profit a
party if it gained all the power but lost the country’s soul?

    ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLUTELY !

    • George

HEAR HEAR, I agree 100% with Sofia.

Obama and his liberal minions are going to run this country into the ground and they have a damn good start with that $787 Billion stimulus package.

We do have some governors in this country that do have some common sense not to accept the money, but the House Majority Whip, Democratic Rep. James Clyburn of South Carolina put an admendment in the bill that says a state’s legislature can over ride the governor on the use of the stimulus money apportioned to that state.

  • Eric Bischoff

    To Denise,
Dictionary Definition of Liberal. Which part do you object to?
1 open to new behavior or opinions and willing to discard traditional values : they have more liberal views toward marriage and divorce than some people.
    • favorable to or respectful of individual rights and freedoms : liberal citizenship laws.
    • (in a political context) favoring maximum individual liberty in political and social reform : a liberal democratic state.
    • ( Liberal) of or characteristic of Liberals or a Liberal Party.
    • ( Liberal) (in the UK) of or relating to the Liberal Democrat Party : the Liberal leader.
    • Theology regarding many traditional beliefs as dispensable, invalidated by modern thought, or liable to change.
2 [ attrib. ] (of education) concerned mainly with broadening a person’s general knowledge and experience, rather than with technical or professional training.
3 (esp. of an interpretation of a law) broadly construed or understood; not strictly literal or exact : they could have given the 1968 Act a more liberal interpretation.
4 given, used, or occurring in generous amounts : liberal amounts of wine had been consumed.
    • (of a person) giving generously : Sam was too liberal with the wine.

Angry. YES and if you are not angry about the destruction of this great country, the environment and the world economy, you are asleep. I am not the one on Ritalin and Prozac but a lot of you people out there are.

And if you get all of your information from mainstream media and it appears that a lot of you favor Fox and CNN, then you are uneducated fools and you are partly responsible for this mess we’re in.

The Hippies weren’t just about love & drugs, and they weren’t just rich kids. I was there, were you? They wanted peace and a better life, fair living wages, the right to peaceful assembly, Civil rights & equal rights, save the environment (there’s only planet and it’s finite). They quit too soon.

It’s hard to fight the ruling class. Corporate Fascism is winning.

It’s easy to criticize the people who fight and march for our rights. If it wasn’t for these people we wouldn’t have a lot of the things we enjoy and take for granted today.

You as a woman should be most angry at no yet having achieved equal pay. It wasn’t so long ago, 1920, that some angry young women called suffragists fought for your right to vote.

It’s pretty simple, whose side are you on, the people or the corporations?

If the answer is people, then open your mind, accept the fact that we are all a little different in how we look and think but in the end we are all human beings. We should all join forces and fight the last good fight that was started by the last American revolution but has not yet achieved it’s goal.

    • commiecrusher

my answer is the people and as far as realizing people are different and have different opinions sure i agree i think we also agree that in a political enviornment that liberals are the majority. i also believe that sometimes the Majority means all the fools are on the same side. i am tired of being pc i am tired of pressing 1 for english i am tired of minorities playing the race card i am tired of the government being in my pocket. oh yeah thank you barry for the $6.34 tax cut. too bad 47 other taxes are scheduled to be raised by june 1st. the last americanrevolution was won it just got hijacked by a bunch of dope smoking “free your mind man” hippies and yes i was there i was one of the vets

      • commiecrusher

coming back from vietnam that had piss and crap thrown on literally because liberals like yourself would not let america kill the enemy. as far as uniting for the revolution you liberal took my automatic weapons. next you want to sake my semi. what are we going to fight with spitballs. how do you win a revolution with that? oh yeah in your world everybody wins, everybody gets 1st place, and you dont have to put in hard work to get anything. get a life or find a tall bridge……….

      • Hal Smith

Thanks for your service to our country Commiecrusher!

  • Larry Morse

I agree with James Boyd’s post. I believe the cops and the feds are too easy on criminals. We need to return to the Old West way – you see a criminal in the process of committing a crime(especially Arab/Muslim Terrorists)-shoot him, and shoot to kill. No arrest nor trial needed, why spend money on keeping these useless criminals alive. We need the same thing on the Mexican border – armed guards with shoot to kill orders. We need a southern border than makes the Berlin wall look tame.

Another liberal down – perhaps the democrats in Congress will read this site and follow suit by dropping out of sight.

  • james boyd

Some may think it radical but put this in your pocket. The time is swiftly drawing nigh that bullets, not ballots, will be necessary to preserve our freedoms at home. We have a renegade pack of lying, self-centered, egotisical, deranged idiots running our federal government (all three branches) under the leadership of a Kenyan communist. Freedom was won by bullets, has been preserved by bullets, and will be sustained the same way. It is nearer than the naive and blind think. Millions are ready to fight for what millions have already died to provide. A bullet-led march from one end of Penn. Avenue to the other (and several side streets) is a much needed event. JWB

  • Joe Hooker

This is all a bit much, in my own opinion.
Constitutionally, no member of the “militia” is entitled to any sort of a civilian trial during a time of war. While if you take a look at federal law, the militia includes EVERY able bodied male citizen over 17, except elected officials.
At the same time our Constitution has NEVER protected anyon other than U.S. citizens & legal immigrants.
So all of the political posturing is just moot, & is probably entirely designed to take our minds off of what’s REALLY important!
    Dr. J.D. Hooker

  • Kari

Please remove me from your e-mail list. I am an independent with conservative tendencies but you all are too far out there for me.

    • volunteer

Kari, someone who calls themselves an “independent” is usually a “liberal” but ashamed to admit it. You should just hang in and maybe this site could help you see the real thruth.

      • richard

being an “independent” and a “liberal” and a 60″s poor hippie from an under privilaged family AND not ashamed to admit it, I do not see a difference between the two parties, they are both out for themselves, they are not for the American people, their agenda’s are the same, no matter what guise they put them under. This new government that was just elected in my opinion is socialist democrat, is that what you call liberal? Would you call Hitler a “liberal”? he was a socialist democrat in fact nazi stood for national socialist democratic party.
This new administration is so far to the “right” it has me terrified
So I have to admit, I no longer know what a conservative or a liberal is, there is nothing liberal about this government we now have.

  • Bob Escher

Although I believe myself to be a conservative. I am tending to agree with Bush in the respect that he wanted to take on terrorists. In my thoughts Mr Padilla in helping the taliban is a terrorist (Opps my political correctness is wrong here) Anyone whether they are a American Citizen or not that clearly helps a terrorist organization
should waive Habeas Corpus. I believe we need to look at the laws governing warfare because warfar has changed and Viet Nam changed it. There is no clearly lines of demarcation for each side. There are no longer specific uniforms and so.

I don’t know what Obama plans but then again so far I have not agreed with anything Obama has done.

  • brewster

Please remove me from your e-mail list. I’m a conservative but you are way too far right for me – I’m with comment #1, Choo Choo

    • Karen

Brewster, you’ve let someone serve you Kool-aid again…. Wake up before all your rights are gone and you WISHED you had been informed and had done something to protect your freedoms.

    • Eauboy

Brewster and Choo-Choo. I’m not sure you would know the truty if hit you in the face.

Karen. You’re right about the Clinton administration’s hand the disasterous mortgage lending debacle. But don’t be too quick to give “W” a pass. He claims he warned about such a practice. But he didn’t do a whole lot to prevent it. Congress or not, he could have done much more to stop that failed policy. And as far as bailouts going to Obama’s buddies; first it has to be said that these are Bush’s buddies too. The whole practice was initiated in 1913 with the inseption of the Federal Reserve. History documents the fact that the FED is a cartel of private corporations created with the sole purpose of bailing out their cohorts, and squelching competition, all at the expense of tax payers both through income tax and more heinously through inflation. The reason the FED is “sanctioned” by the government, is because it gives politicians nearly unlimited spending power. You can read all the documented history in “reader friendly” print in the book, “Creature from Jekyll Island”, by G. Edward Griffin.

      • Dizzy Lady

I have to agree. We cannot trust EITHER party. They have both sold us out. It is a case of whoever is not in power blaming the one that is. We Americans have been so comfortable for so long that we don’t think this can happen to us. Sort of like a young girl reading all about other gals being raped but goes walking in a bad neighborhood in the middle of the night thinking “It can’t happen to me”. BULL. It IS happening, folks and we had better WAKE UP before it goes any further.
Unfortunately, I think it has already passed the point of no return. What is left is a lot of protests, a civil war, lots of people dying and the rest being left with taking the mark and living as slaves to the one world government.
And unfortunately, many of you will just sit back, drink your beer, watch American Idol, or CSI or whatever it is you escape to – just trying to avoid dealing with it.
But many of us will go down fighting for YOUR freedom to do so!

      • DL

        We need a third party…..

I don’t see how Mr. Obama could possibly do more damage to our Republic and the Constitution, than George W. Bush’s Junta has (short of declaring Martial Law). Remember, if we hadn’t had that Neocon, conservative pretender, we would still have the House, and Senate. Neither would we be discussing President Barrack Obama, for he would still be the Marxist, junior Senator from Illinois.

    • Denise from Kentucky

Yes, it can get worse. Check out history. How many times over the years has the oppression started so quietly, so for the people, the Country, and get to where Hitler and Mussolini became monsters, murderers of their own people. We can become those people. Look how the Hate is being manufactured by this Administration against Corporate America. Acorn and Teamsters show up at these peoples homes in a threatening manner. That could be you and me next.

      • Eric Bischoff

We just went through a period of hate that started with an administration asleep at the wheel letting 19 criminals fly planes into buildings and in the process seriously hurting our economy. Then these morons decide to invade 2 countries when this was a criminal matter that would have been best handled by the world police working together. Sure we had lost control of our old friend Saddam but that’s never a good reason for destroying a country and causing the death of a million people. Weren’t almost all of the highjackers Saudis! Oh but the Bush are friends with the dictator family! Then they dropped the ball on Katrina, trampled our laws and civil rights, kidnapped, tortured, assassinated. They started to look a lot like Fascists to me. But I guess you were OK with that. It’s the black guy that worries you. I kind of like him but we still have the same ineffective moronic government behing him and that is not going to fix anything. Don’t get hookwinked, ACORN is not the bad guy. Read, do some research. They have done too much for the people that’s what worries the status quo. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ACORN The real war is between the haves and the have nots and so far the rich are winning and there is a massive sucking sound of wealth redistribution from the bottom up. Why is it that people only get upset when we talk about equalizing wealth distribution, like most of you are going to be affected I suppose?

      • Denise from Kentucky

No, you read and do some research. You Liberals are soooo angry. You always were. During the 60′s/70′s the hippies were all sooo angry. Especially if you didn’t agree with them. The hippies consisted of little rich kids that never had to work during the college years. Their mommies and daddies paid for everything. Why they hated the “Establishment” was a mystery. They were the ones that had nothing else to do but bitch about everything, and yell at those who didn’t join their cause. So much for peace and love. It’s not about color. It’s about the crazed view of those in power.

      • Foolpatrol

Truth crushed to earth will rise again. “MLK” Thanks for speaking truth today.

      • Robin from Indiana

Wow… You do have issues! I’ll bet you are a plant that says these sort of things on a conservative website to see how much you can stir up! Do you know why conservatives are referred to as ‘the right’? Because they are….

Denise had a great post. Way to nail it!

Now back to the article. As far as I am concerned, if you are not an American, you don’t qualify for American rights. Other countries don’t follow our rule of law; they have their own. Criminals from other countries really shouldn’t mess with America. At least that’s the way it should be.

      • janita florez

        Eric,
After reading your reply I cringed about the people reading your response and frankly you do not know all the information I worked and know the Bushes for years and what concerns me is response like your shows that you do not know all the truth. The truth can be researched and if you would go back in time both parties were at fault that failed this Country miserably. It has to do with power and neglected the USA. I feel you need to do more research before you post ridulous accusations. FYI……..I SPEAK THE TRUTH.

      • Damon

Eric, you are so nieve and blind. I am of the poor you speak of. I have 4 children and been married 17 years. I am out of a job, lost my house, collecting unemployment and drawing foodstamps. My friend, I never asked for this nor do I want it. All I really want is an opportunity to succeed like our Fore Fathers framed this nation to do so. This has nothing to do with right, left, center and color or race. This has to do with the CONSTITUTION AND DECLERATION OF INDEPENDANCE, and BILL OF RIGHTS. If you are in love and vote because of one party or another you have already lost your country. WAKE UP!!!! If you cannot see what THE GOVERNMENT locally and Federally are doing to you, you are a fool. We have been warned by several entities such as HISTORY, THE Founding Fathers, Scripture, ect. ect. If you think for 1 second that this administration or any other is working for you and want to do good by its people or you feel like its rich versus poor, you are sadly mistaken and you sir have proven to others that it is possiable for the government to influence its people with lies. Its the Government pushin g the division untill you wake up one day wondering what the hell happen. I pray that you research yourself and find your own answers instead of taking the media and government officials word for it. If We the People, all did this we would not be where we are today.

      • Joseph

        Eric,
I wonder, the Administration that was “asleep at the wheel” in your blaming 9/11 on, could that have possibly been the one that also had White House aides on their knees?
As bad as the circumstances were under Bush in your overly active imagination you’d think that he was trying to take total governmental control over America. Something that Obama and his liberal congress is well on their way to doing in just two short months.
The black man doesn’t bother me even though your favorite word for me is “racist.” The bottomfeeders do. They are there because they choose to be not because they haven’t been afforded the chances to rise above their squallor.
I did look at Wikipedia’s explaination of ACORN, and then did a liltle further exploring. The various sites gave me ACORN telling me what a good institution ACORN is. Well pat me on the back Superman, did you honestly think any of those sites were going show any thing derogatory about them. An intelligent person would wonder who has to do the reasearch. I deal in sound reasoning, rational thought and common sense. I don’t believe everything I hear or read from the left-media. I suggest you do the same in order to get a less one sided veiw. That’s oppressive.

      • Robert

        Re Eric Bischoff’s reply:
Well done, Eric. It’s a joy to see so much TRUTH (for a change) packed into one paragraph. Thank you.

      • http://BobLivingston Joseph in Iraq

        Eric,
You have issues for sure. Where do you suppose the Frontier
of Freedom is located today? Its in places like Iraq, Afganistan,
Liberia, East Timor, Haiti, the Congo, Zimbabwe. I’ve been to all those
places except for Afganistan and I hope some day soon I go there.
I am not in the military. You obviously never discovered you purpose in
life or even pondered this questioned. You’ve always just been to
emotional about what you don’t have. I used to be broke, and poor
and emotionally unsound like you. I decided to take responsibility
for myself, which it sounds like you still have not done, made a plan
and followed through on it. Sadly, the Rookie in the White House
now puts the United States on the list

      • Ali

Eric, You are such an uninformed moron. You are one of the liberal left who have no one to worry about except themselves. Do you have children? I doubt it. Do you make over $50K a year, I doubt that too – but maybe. I suspect you’re a single guy who doesn’t have any responsibility except for himself and so you don’t think any further than your own selfish little circle. I have a child. I have parents who both grew up on farms, paid for their educations for double-Master’s degrees and now have watched their 401K’s dwindle to 50% of what they were. I worry everyday about my son growing up in a socialist state without the opportunities I had/have (for a limited time anyway) and paying off a debt greater than all of the American Presidents combined to this point. If you thought past your own life, you’d see what’s happening is horrifying. What an ignorant statement to say it’s the “black” guy who bothers people. Grow up. It’s not a race issue except for racists themselves. obama is an egotistical, arrogant, ill-prepared, terrorist loving jerk and that doesn’t have anything to do with his race. Give me Alan Keyes anytime over this jackass. obama is a Hitler in waiting, and I’m sure you’ll be okay with it until someone you love becomes a victim. Oh wait, that’s right, you’re only concerned about you and I’m sure you’ll follow blindly where ever commanded. You’re the one who needs to do the research. Those of that have know that’s what happening is wrong and very scary and we’re the ones prepared to do something about it. Don’t worry – as usual we’ll let those of you with pathetic morals and ideals continue to live amongst us; anxious as always to sponge off of the productive members of society while you sit back and launch your anti-Conservative rhetoric left and right. Grow up.

      • slmcolliers

Very easy for you to say when it is my hard earned wealth going to a lazy SOB like you. I have never been afraid of giving to the less fortunate, but giving to people who lied and cheated their way into mortgages they shouldnt have been permitted to get, is not my idea of redestributing the wealth. Just ask any charity in the country what Barrack Obama is doing to their fund raising ability and watch how much less help they are able to render going forward compared to previous years. Get a job and try working for a living instead of waitng for hand outs.

      • George

ACORN is a ultra liberal/marxist group that helped Obama get in the office due to the fact that the people they “registered” to vote, did so in the locale where they were registered, and by absentee vote in their home state.

That massive sucking sound you hear is your back side puckering, a the chains go around your neck. Do you really think your place in life will be any different than the rest of us when the money runs out. If you believe it will be better try North Korea.

      • Ken Palmersheim

I don’t believe any of us oppose President Obama’s policies and procedures because or race, but do so simply because they are wrong for this country. Let’s also remember that Obama is not actually the first black president. He is the first biracial president. I have a grandson who is one-half South Korean, but he is considered Caucasian, not Asian, as he would be under the theory used in describing Obama’s race.
Also a comment on ACORN.The organization still under suspicion for voter fraud. An example of the actions of that organization is Obama’s winning the Iowa caucuses for his initial win toward the nomination. I have friends in southern Iowa who have acknowledged that several people attending their local caucuses were strangers to all of the local people in attendance, and admitted that they were brought in from Missouri to vote in the Iowa caucuses. Now that ACORN is going to be a partner in the 2010 Census, we can be certain that the liberal Democrats will be picking up in numbers.

YES that is what I try to convey to my Zombie friends who think it’s time to just go on about their lives now that Obama has been elected. NO that’s the worst thing they could do. He is ruining this country with the help of all the dems who are exercising power grabs. His cabinet are lawbreakers, Pelosi is out there saying that “Protecting our borders and upholding immigration laws” is un-American! She should be impeached for this alone!!! Now that the GIVE program has passed they’ll now be indoctrinating our youth, just like Hitler did with the brownshirt brigade. This is very scary stuff, and the people in my networks would rather carry on like it’s 2004. They have NOT caught up! No wonder towns are having Tea Party Protests regarding the Long List of atrocities Obama has caused his during his short time in office.

      • http://microsoft Robert

I agree with you that Pelosi shound be kicked out, she is doing nothing for this country but desyroying it. The dems. are nothing but a lot of hlf minded people, just for self.

This response is to Robin, and while I agree that the “right” is right. The designation doesn’t actually come from that meaning. The right and the left are so called going back to The French Revolution and the seating arrangement. Those liberal, revolutionary politicians sat on the left and the conservatives sat on the right.

      • Dene

Most of the racist I’ve encountered voted for Obama because he was black. They didn’t even grasp that the man hasn’t ever ran a business. The entire time he was in government he was campaigning. I’ve yet to hear one person say they wouldn’t vote for a black man. Like myself, they didn’t trust his smooth rederick he was reading off a teleprompter. Where was his family, other than his wife and 2 kids. Most candidates I’ve been exposed to have a lot of family around and people who have worked with them over the years and know their record. Where were the good people of his community that really knew him. Where was his resume. He graduated from Harvard. Is that supposed to impress us….George W. graduated from Harvard. Did that impress you on the left about G.W.?

It appeared his close associates were some questionable people spouting some pretty radical stuff.
Obama came from nowhere, we still don’t know that much about him. The real racists are the people who voted for him for no other reason than he was black.

I don’t care if he’s purple, the fact is the guy has no clue what he’s doing. He was groomed for this job influenced by an ideology that has always reaked destruction in the past. Think about it. Nancy Pelosi is running the country, I’m beginning to think he’s her yes man. Inexperience can be over come with the common sense to surround yourself with smart people. Obama has surrounded himself with tax cheats, culprits that strong armed Freddie & Fannie to make bad loans, then just out & out lied about it (this is all documented by the way) , Then chewed out probably the most well meaning person in the room. That whole bunch up there are joined at the hip, sucking us dry by supporting their high life.
There’s too many rotten apples in the barrel, it needs to be turned upside down and shaken out. Let the cards lay where they fell.

      • David

        Denise,
I agree, it can get worse, it is getting worse by the day; by the hour.
The AG for Conn. was on Glenn Beck’s show yesterday and he all but admitted he actually has no ‘legal’ reason, no ‘law broken’ to go after the AIG bonus recipients, but that does not deter him in the least. He doesn’t need the silly ol ‘law’, he only has to say it’s just not right.
        This from the Attorney General.

        Denise,
looks like you lived under Hitler and Mussolini, so u know about those “monsters”. Strange enough u don’t even mention the REAL massmurderers: Stalin, Lenin, ceausescu, Rakosi and mao.
They murdered their own people! And guess what: this Evil Empire will do the same to its own people! remember Ruby Ridge, Waco, Oklahoma City? The US government is the real Satan, not Hitler or Mussolini,. They both fought against NObamas, Clintons and Bushes. If they win, today is no NObama!

      • JES

What militia do you belong to?

    • Eric Bischoff

Actually, helping American families with healthcare, education, housing and Labor unions is Social Democracy. Giving trillions to bankers is Fascism and George Bush started it and now we are stuck with the bill. Seeing what capitalism has done for us maybe we should rethink our strategy.

      • aman

        D from K,

Don’t let it get to you. Actually what you are witnessing today is the surfacing of the bottom layer of society; And as a result of drugs, atheism, and STD, the decline of mental faculties. This too must pass. In the meantime, sit back and enjoy the side show. If you have children/grandchildren make examples of these
freaks of nature and teach them to always keep God in their hearts, and to fight the good fight. Do you recall the commercial; “This is your brain. This is your brain on drugs. Any questions?” End of story!

      • Karen

Eric, the Clintons started the mortgage crisis. The dems in power the last two terms of Bush’s Presidency (Frank, Dodd and others) claimed everything was okay after Republicans called them out and predicted this housing crisis/mortgage crisis would happen. Bush was asleep at the wheel, Yes! But Obama has given trillions to his financial buddies (along with obscene bonuses). More in his first 59 days than Bush did in all 8 yrs.!!
This administration is a disaster for the country.
Healthcare- we already have the best socialized healthcare, No one is turned away if they cannot pay. The cost is passed on to those who can. Obama’s plan will ration out healthcare where people will die waiting (even those who can afford to pay) and the cost will be passed along to EVERYONE in higher health costs.
Education- We need to stop the quotas of passing kids when they can’t read, write, speak, add memorize, learn properly, PERIOD. It’s the quotas for raises that cause teachers to pass kids whether they’re ready or not. And funding depends on it, etc. etc. And parents are not as proactive as they should or can be.
Housing is not a right. Just like anything else in the American Dream, you have to work for it. There is plenty of help out there (at the goodness of Americans hearts, and programs that are govt. funded, and by corporations that get an incentive to Give til it’s practically ridiculous.-Obama’s policies will change charity for the worse.
Labor unions while started out protecting people that couldn’t protect themselves have become a mobster society. They threaten and bully people and act like common thugs and law breakers. Labor Unions have lobbyists who pay politicians a LOT of money! It’s in the best interests of the politicians to get labor unions in everywhere they can. The fact that this will put small businesses out of business, and raise prices at Walmart beyond what families on a budget could afford…will effect everyone adversely.
Labor unions can now bulldose their way in and a business owner, and the employees don’t have the right to vote privately whether they want this or not. This is dangerous.
        This isn’t America anymore.

      • Eauboy

        Eric, (et al)

Social Democracy is socialism. socialism, communism and fascism (what Mussolini defined as corporatism) are all subsets of collectivism. Collectivism is the antithesis of the American way, based on a Constitutionally limited republic (not democracy). Both major parties are culprits where the loss of American liberties are concerned…it’s good cop, bad cop. Both are promoters of bigger government, and a subservient public. Neither can be supported, if the true America…based on valuing the rights of the individual as paramount, and the individuals rights to life, liberty and property (all explained in the Constitution). The only way out of this mess is to support real American leaders, such as Dr. Ron Paul, who support the U.S. Constitution fully, and will relieve us of the crisis mongering of both major party leaders.

The battle for America has been engaged since it’s beginning. Over the past century, however, collectivism has been sped up its’ slow creep to power. Spikes in its’ growth have occurred, such as; the creation of the Federal Reserve (neither federal, nor does it have reserves other than the confiscated wealth of the citizenry), the disasterous socialist policies of FDR, and the regimes of Clinton, G.W Bush, and now Obama. All of these administrations have trampled on the Constitution…and continue to do so, while we stand by and watch. If you like America, and the freedom it once represented, then you better start doing your homework.

      • Eric Bischoff

I like Ron Paul. I think the only way to unseat the RepubliRats is to unite all other independents and pull some from both parties to join us then we’ll give them a fair fight.

That means we must learn to find things we like about each other rather to to focus on things we hate about each other.

      • Guest

        Eauboy,

Hit it on the head, (good cop bad cop) until we start electing regular everyday people into office we will continue down this road. We continue to have a figure head put in charge who’s strings are pulled from someplace other than himself. If you think it’s bad now wait as this will be known as the summer of RAGE, it has already started. Obama will start to mass his so called volunteer army, this will turn out to be his brown shirts, we will soon be more than likely put under control by the U.N. ( as in the new world order ) Ooops I’m not supposed to use that phrase anymore. The Supreme court will not exist as it does now, your high court will be the UN, who by the way are calling for a complete disarming of citizens world wide. So the only people with arms will be the armies of the world, the so called important people, the rich, the police, and even they might not be trusted to have arms. Make no mistake about it those who have any kind of power or $ want to keep it any way they can. No matter what color you are, if you think slavery is dead just take a look in the mirror for it is us.

Anyone above who referred to themselves as an American, think about what you say, as I will refer to myself as a U.S. citizen.

        Just rambling.

      • Don

Your head is so far in the liberal sandbox you cant see anything. Who caused the banks problems??? Liberal democrats!! Keep choking down that koolaid!!

      • John Stumpf

No, Eric you are gravely mistaken. Bush wasn’t a capitalist, he wasn’t for free markets or a free trade advocate and he was no friend of liberty. In fact my friends no one alive today has ever lived in a free market, free capitalistic or free society. I am sorry to say that even our icon of freedom and conservative politics President Reagan, failed us even while he brought us hope. To enjoy true freedom we must have honest money, a dead FED no income tax and no property tax, there are other and better ways to fund a small government. So don’t follow the herd mentality and blame our problems on capitalism

President Clinton’s administration removed the laws established after the depression to protect us from the abuses of immoral and highly leveraged investment vehicles like derivatives and credit default swaps that come with huge counterparty risk. Bush administration didn’t have the guts to stop it instead wanting to bask in a perception of sound economics.

The definitions of everything the American dream represents have skewed left overtime. Free market capitalism has come to mean corporatism, aka, fascism. Free speech has come to mean, tolerance of the politically correct only. Until recently freedom of the press has come to mean, freedom to print and airwaves if you agree with the leftist agenda. The pursuit of happiness now means how much money one can make even at the expense of others. The freedom of thought now means you are free to think what you want as long as you think like the Darwinian Evolutionists, controlling the government school and university system. Liberty has come to mean to live as a debauched libertine and the right-to-life has become a choice. God have mercy on us.

Your beloved ACORN is nothing but a parasite on the taxpayer. While enjoying and consuming the fruits of workers, savers and taxpayers, they have devised a means of turning the coffers of the state against us. But, you can only tear at the root for so long before the tree will stop producing fruit. You can’t castrate a bull and expect it to be fruitful.

      • Timothy Jackson

        Eric,
Have you lost your mind. Giving someone something for nothing is the true defination of socialism. I work hard my wife works hard. We have health insurance, pay our bills, and even give to multiple charities. Our combinrd income is around 80,000. Why should I give some of what I have earned to someone who want work. By the way I have a college degree, and my job is a pizza dilevery guy.

      • Chuck Gilliam

Timothy JACKSON, I have to poke a little fun at you and your college degree; you see, when you say you are now a pizza delivery guy, you must look at your spelling to realize why. Check it out. Chuck Gilliam

      • Damon

Sir you are off to a good start, but you need to go back and do alot more research, and you will find it started back in the 30′s. You really need to educate yourself with the CONSTITUTION of THE UNITED STATES, and then you will find that alot has led up to where we are, and you will also find that The Presidents do not have as much power as you would like to give them which brings me to the next point of the bandwagon against Busch that you are on. Congress RUNS this country. Here is a start for you, GOOGLE 545 VERSUS THREE MIILION and read that, it will help you better understand how things work

      • Pamela

Don’t think so, check again Eric… Giving trillions to bankers is Fascism and Clinton started it. Lay off the sauce man. Just say no to Social Democracy. It hasn’t been working for us in a very long time.

        [Reply]

      • George

If George W. Bush started it, fine.

But Obama signed a stimulus package that “NO ONE” in Congress read, for they could not read 1200 pages in 12 hours. And that package is courtesy of Princess Nancy and her cronies in the House, and Prince Harry and his cronies in the Senate.

Wake the hell up and smell the coffee, our kids, grandkids and greatgrandkids and further down the line will be paying for the “FIX ” that Obama says will fix the economy.

      • theman

princess hell !!!!!!! Queen Nancy !!!!!!!!!!!! and sweet harry

      • JES

Actually this financial debacle began with Ronald Reagan, the great deregulator.

    • http://windowslive julie sossaman

this is scary and i dont like it we must as a people stand up in this country and say NO MORE we want FREEDOM and i will not let you take it away call your senators and congressman demnd thay do there jobs

      • theman

wake up! they ain’t going to do anything . once they get to washington ,money talks, bullshit walks. if money don’t get them the bullies will…

    • Don Pepe

Timothy, history will tell that the very honorable President “W” Bush did what any RED BLOODED AMERICAN did everything right for the country. Jump in the anti-american news media funded by persons such as sorry, I mean soros, the unions, who care very little about the members and others elected or boughten politicians; whose aims is power and wealth and nothing else but bring Americans down to our
      knees agenda.
All of those have done nothing but create hatred; towards our honorable elected officials, for the gain of a “fist full of dollars” for which they have sold their dignity, honesty, integrity, ethics and morals.

    • Dave

Timmothy, regarding your comment, “Remember, if we hadn’t had that Neocon, conservative pretender, we would still have the House, and Senate,” I seem to recall that the Republican-controlled House and Senate started spending our money like there was no end to it, and “W” went along with them without even expressing any outrage, much less a veto.

While I agree with you that “W” was a fake conservative who surrounded himself with Neo-Cons who pulled the strings of his administration to the great detriment of the Republic, with all due respect to you, I believe that the Republican-controlled House and Senate of 2000-2006 cooked their own goose. If the Republicans had stuck to their conservative roots during those years, they would probably still be in control of at least one chamber of the Legislative Branch.

From the time I first registered to vote in 1968, I have voted Republican in every national election. But after I saw the way the Republicans behaved from 2000-2006 while they controlled the Legislative Branch, I not only re-registered as an Independent, I refused to vote for the lesser of two evils (McCain) in the 2008 election. As long as the Republicans refuse to behave as constitutional conservatives, I will continue to refuse to support them, and will continue to support Third Party candidates that adhere to conservative platforms.

    • http://TimmyKerms corvettelady

It wouldn’t have mattered the damage caused by George Bush and now Obama as both these Presidents were “picked” by the Global Elite towards a New World Order that we’ve been hearing about lately. This is where the G-20 Summit comes in. As for the major economic problems we’re all facing, is mainly caused by The Federal Reserve Banks also part of the Elite, who ARE NOT part of our government!! A lot of people do not know this! The last time The Fed Reserve Bank was killed was by Andrew Jackson!!! Look it up!!

  • Choo choo

I actually believe you guys doctored up the polls, If i would of known this was a ultra right wing site i would not of wasted my time. You guys need to get real and start telling the truth.

    • aman

Ultra Right wing site… buddy you’re in denial. In fact, you’ve just proven indeed that
” the truth hurts.” Critic is probably more like it.

      • FFT

This website is all crap, just like the policies of the bush administration. You can’t even compare anything yet to what bush/cheney did to this country. This website is all about scare tactics, just like the g.o.p. (the Grand Obstructionist Party), and the so called fox news channel. There was no facts about Obama, just his opionion. The republican party has lost its way, following Right Wingers down the toilet. Today’s republican party has no “New” ideas and are out of touch with America.

      • MST

I have never heard such rethoric from an individual that is upset about the republicans. Have you not noticed what the dems have done to this country. Not only will we be paying for Obama and company but our childern’s childern’s childern. What makes you think that what we have now is better. It is people like you that will continue to take the country to its knees and then who will you blame. What Obama has done and will do will far outweight whatever any politician in the past has done to further cripple this country. Soon good hard workers will be paying for everything (homes, cars, health, etc). for those who do not wish to better themselves through hard work. Talk about being out of touch. Have you not done any research for yourself! All politicians need to start to realize who put them where they are and who will keep them where they are. But until all Americans start do research for themselves, you will never know the truth. It is hard to find in today’s publishing tactics – who is paying who here>? – but it can be found.

      • doi

Regurgitating ignorant rhetoric is hardly original. Which, by the way, is what you’ve just done.

      • http://none John A

Hey turkey – we’re going down the toilet allright, with fuzzy/bunny and his nutty senators & representatives leading the way. In case you have been asleep, Bush is out and fuzzy/bunny is in, and leading us on to destruction. I am thankful that God has saved me through Jesus Christ. He (JC) is our hope.

      • karen

Here’s a scare tactic. There are no more democrates, the socialist have taken over that party. Here’s a list of self proclaimed socialists. Now it all makes sense.

      • JES

To deprive any prisoner of habeas corpus is dangerous and a slippery slope. During the “enemy combatant” frenzy, many innocent people were jailed without access to a lawyer. Any efforts to infringe on habeas corpus will endanger democracy in this country.

    • John Stumpf

      Hey Choo Choo

I was kind of thinking these guys are a little to the left of center.

    • volunteer

      Liberals can’t handle the truth!!!!!!

      • DJ

it’s not about liberals and conservatives….that’s ridiculous. It’s about just seeing beyond the divisive lies of right/left paradigms and getting the courage to stand up for the obvious truth that out shines the good guy/bad guy game. So grow up people and stop playing their trifling game!

      • theman

DJ ditto!! the truth is the truth, but..... you got to see it, to beleive it.

      • JES

Of course, one might say that of Republicans. If we had faced the truth earlier, we could have avoided the financial disaster plaguing this country. We, also, would not have preemptively attack Iraq.
