Perhaps term limits would be a partial answer. Many elected Senators and Representatives have been in office too long. Obviously they have been put there by the contributions of big business!

Newt has it exactly right here. Why is Washington bailing out big business when it is, by far, the junior provider of employment compared to small business? The answer is, because big business is the most organized in financing politicians. This is not rocket science. What we have is de facto economic fascism. The only way to stop this is to prohibit corporate political contributions (including unions and political action committees). If only individuals could finance politicians, Washington would have to cater to the common good rather than to special interests. Politicians may be elected by voters, but they vote the interests of their contributors. This is so simple. Nothing is going to change for the better until we own up to this!
